Rounding the Bases

Rounding up all the latest Red Sox news and notes in one post. This edition will cover everything that happened in Soxland while I was out of commission in sunny, warm, beautiful New Orleans over the weekend. Going from the 75 degree sunshine of NOLA to the -5 degree (real temp! not wind chill!) of Chicago in one day was brutal. Thank goodness I have baseball to come home to.

TRUCK DAY! How about some pictures, pictures, pictures and more pictures? And video!

Curt Schilling: Loading up on cortisone shots- and still getting paid no matter what.

Manny Ramirez: Working hard in Arizona, and learned to speak some Japanese.

Clay Buchholz: Already in Ft. Myers sporting a "Season begins now" shirt, spent two months at the API in Pensacola (that's where he saw the Sox win the Series- sad panda!), but can't throw a video no-hitter to save his life.

Josh Beckett: Has arrived in Ft. Myers, and already threw a short session with his personal trainer (who also happens to be his girlfriend's brother).

Kevin Youkilis: Buffed himself up in Arizona and landed himself a one year contract.

Daisuke Matsuzaka
& Hideki Okajima: Japan is representin' - both guys showed up early in Florida, and have started throwing.

Dustin Pedroia: Still officially has the biggest mouth (and ego) on the team - which is saying something. It's also why we heart him.

Blogs: Sox Monster turns one year old (yay Dan!), and Sitting Still gets famous (yay Kelly!).

One interesting bit in that article about Dice-K and Okie: The Dice has talked to Josh and is looking to integrate "the ace's change" into his repertoire.

I also liked the part where Lester mentioned Masterson making starts with the big-league club this year. I'm quite fond of Masterson. :D

The part about Clay's not-so (real) no-no was sweet, too. He wants to be a character in a video game--he's such a little boy!

Hope you had/are having a good time in N'Awlins.

And am I the only one who's slightly skeeved that Josh's girlfriend's brother is his personal trainer? Most guys I know wouldn't want to be working for a guy who has ongoing carnal knowledge of his sister.

By the way, Kelly, I've started a blog myself and I have a grand total of 10 posts and your pictures are in a lot of them. They're so great! :D

(Just figured you might be checking back here after posting, so I hope you get this.)

I love that Josh is still his surly self to the media! From Amalie Benjamin on Extra Bases:

"Beckett wasn't quite in the mood to talk, heading off to do his workouts..."

Yeah, Amalie, he wasn't in the mood to talk to YOU.
