671

As a very wise man once said, "HOLY SCHNIKEES!" Last night's gameday open thread blew past the 600 comment benchmark and went straight to 671. 671!   Unbelievably awesome.

I was unsure when I started the first gameday open thread during spring training whether anyone would find any use for them. Well, I should have known better - because this amazing community of commenters have made each and every gameday open thread a laugh riot.

And even though the majority of the participants have been Sox fans (naturally), we've also had Yankees, Mets, Cubs and Blue Jays fans join in as well-- which is extra fun. And, like the regular comment threads, anyone is welcome to participate... provided you do not (a) act like an asshat, or (b) get graphically vulgar. And so far, we've not had anyone come close to doing either one.

So a big fat "HELL YEAH!" and thanks go out to everyone who's joined in one of the gameday open threads. I attempted to collate a list below - but I very likely left someone out, so let me know if your name is not there for all to see and admire.

And where were we last night oh fearless leader?

Wow... you're one of the popular kids now!

(That sounds more bitter than I intended. I'm actually trying to sound laudatory.)

It wouldn't seem like 5 people simultaneously typing "YOOOOOUUUUK" or "YEAH!" would make for great reading, but having been at some of the games and viewed the threads later, I can tell you it's actually pretty entertaining. And in real time, it's loads of fun to yell together online - and easier on the neighbors. So, TG, I thank you, and my neighbor-through-the wall thanks you for allowing me to virtually shout, (sometimes) instead of actually shouting.

I annoy my mom when I yell at the TV when something happens. She thought my brother would be into watching Sports, but she was wrong!

I love these threads so thanks for having them TG!

We hit 671? Wow, I can't believe it! These are just so much fun, though - and the community aspect is just delightful. I think that may be the best part of this - the way we've come together through the love of the game.

(Now let's shoot for going over 9000.)

The game day open threads are a lot of fun. Thanks for hosting them!

The threads are a lot of fun. I don't stay online if my family is home and watching the game with me, but I do enjoy the threads.

This is a great blog--definitely one of my favorites (certainly fav Sox blog)--because of the great writing, video clips.

TPTB at work decided that it would be a good idea to move offices (not like I've been busy enough working 60 hours/week!). What was the first thing I did this morning? Yep--put up the Sox Shrine! I've got my big Fenway poster, my Pap SI covers, and my new fav: "In Tek We Trust."

I've got my priorities straight ;-).

This is a wonderful site and the game day open threads make for a great way for us to enjoy the games even more. Thanks so much for hosting!

Just a small note of correction to your list, it's ecl1958, rather than ec. The ecl stands for "east coast lady" and originated some years ago on a forum where I was the only poster who was not from California. :-)

Ok, so I've probably commented like a total of 3 times in Gameday threads...but my name was not on the list!

I'll be around for occasional gameday threads in the future, whenever I'm forced to watch the game alone at home...boo

Oh, TG, these threads are GREAT. Seriously. I especially love them because everyone has so many common interests--baseball, obviously, but the conversation extends beyond that as well and it's just so great to find people who like the same sort of things as I do (particularly because I don't know many people who can name much more than the starting lineup of the Sox)!

I don't think I know anyone off the internet who can even name more than five or so Sox minor leaguers. >.>

Really, though--thanks! These are so great.

The few gameday threads I have participated in have been lots of fun. I thought at first I would feel totally awkward because I don't know as much about baseball as most of the rest of you, but I never felt out of place one time. And I am totally impressed at the wealth of babeball knowledge and goodness the rest of you possess. :)

Thanks for allowing all of us to be a part of them! Even those of us who have been away from the game for a while. Loads of fun and good times for all!

Last Saturday's game was the first gameday thread in which I really participated and it was lots of fun.

I feel like I just got upgraded to the cool kids table.
