Hi! waving...

Last TV opportunity for me for a few weeks, so I'll mostly be in the other room watching the festivities, but will check in as time permits.

Tomorrow I may be scarce...real life calls and I have errands to do on the way home but once I get back will listen on whatever audiostream I can find, maybe post a little too.

Play ball, y'all!

[ jules ] says:
on April 16, 2008 6:58 PM

I hope Clay throws a great game.

Go Sox!

I'm working late, so better be good and actually *work*.

[ Liza ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:01 PM

I hope this game is REALLY LONG. I DON'T CARE about sleep.

(You hear me, Sox and Yanks?)

[ Erin ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:01 PM

Hey all!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:04 PM

Mmmm, LIza...much as I'd love a marathon, I hope they can hold it to 4 hours in the interest of my getting a decent night's sleep.

[ jenny again ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:05 PM

all right everyone. let's do this thing! buck v. wang. BRING IT.

[ jenny again ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:06 PM

i like pedey hitting .311 this early. ATTA BOY.

[ jenny again ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:07 PM

omg, wang needs beating.

[ Meghan ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:08 PM

Hehe at the Sox's plane blocking the Yankees last night.

[ Liza ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:08 PM

I am ridiculously excited about Thurston. I really hope he gets to play soon.

C'mon, Jacoby!

[ jules ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:08 PM

:: doing the getting the game on NESN happy dance ::

I LOOOOOOOOVE Don & Remy.

[ Bethie ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:09 PM

Evening everyone! I'm looking forward to a great game tonight, considering the totally crappy day I have had. Come on Sox! Cheer me up!!

[ jules ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:10 PM

Coco injured? Didn't need that.

[ 1863_project ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:11 PM

Sorry if I'm a bit delayed tonight - my computer is doing a virus scan and it's not done.

Nice walk, Dustin!

[ jenny again ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:11 PM

ok, is the ump particular huge or is dustin particularly TINEH tonight?

[ Meghan ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:13 PM

Coco being injured helps explain Thurston a bit more since he can play OF too...

[ Liza ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:13 PM

C'mon, Manny!

[ 1863_project ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:13 PM

Oh, and for those who didn't see it - Jed's post-game interview. And the first thing he does is crack up. I love him.

[ Danielle ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:14 PM

Hey everyone! Love'd y'all comments during yesterday's especially since I'm in Orlando for college and don't get to see the games often! :( Time for a break from reality of school! Let's win 5 in a row Sox!

[ Liza ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:14 PM

WOOOOOO! Yeah Manny!!

[ njdevils ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:14 PM

YEAH!!

[ starlightmusic ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:15 PM

Yay cleats in pleats! Way to run home! Thank you Manny!!!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:15 PM

I heart you Mannyyyyyy!!!

[ jules ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:15 PM

Coco being injured will decrease his trade value (not that I'm in a hurry to trade him, but one has to wonder what Theo is going to do).

MANNNNNNYYYYYYYY!!!!!

Bethie, sorry about the crappy day. Manny is trying to help ;-)

[ Erin ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:15 PM

Manny!

[ Meghan ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:15 PM

Last Friday that would have been straight to Matsui:-P

[ Liza ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:15 PM

Hey Danielle! :)

I'm working on a paper due tomorrow. 15 pages thus far. Ugh.

Youuuuuuuuuuuk!

[ Bethie ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:16 PM

Manny improved my mood just a tad. :)

[ starlightmusic ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:16 PM

Yuk...where's the dramatic "oh I'm hit?" Bring it!

[ 1863_project ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:17 PM

15 pages? How many do you need total?

I'm making a PPT for my reenacting group so we can play 1860s baseball better right now. I'm currently at the 'debunking Doubleday' part.

[ starlightmusic ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:17 PM

Liza, 15 pages???? What class is this for?

[ Danielle ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:17 PM

I feel your pain Liza. I just finished two case studies, one 35 pages, one 20 and had 2 1/2 weeks with 5 tests! Not so fun- Thank god finals start next week and the Red Sox are on so life's good.

[ Liza ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:17 PM

It amuses me to NO END how the Yankees catchers' pinstripes form a diamond around the groin area...

Anyway. Woo, 1-0 already!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:17 PM

Youk bouncing while he's at bat always cracks me up.

[ jenny again ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:18 PM

dustin + manny = WIN

[ Bethie ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:18 PM

I so hope Clay has a good game tonight. Completely nervous for him.

[ jules ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:19 PM

I'm glad I'm not the only one with homework ;-)

I'm working on something for a meeting Friday. It's amazing how much better I code when watching the Sox! heheeheehee

[ starlightmusic ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:19 PM

How much you want to bet Clay's wearing hemp tonight?

[ 1863_project ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:19 PM

Dustin hitting better than A-Rod. Whee!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:20 PM

I missed this about Coco being injured. What happened?

[ starlightmusic ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:20 PM

AHA! HAHAHAHA

[ 1863_project ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:20 PM

Dustin's average at the start of the game: .311.
A-Rod's average at the start of the game: .300.

Conclusion? Dustin > A-Rod. Simple arithmetic.

[ Bethie ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:21 PM

I'm willing to bet he's loaded up with a lot of hemp tonight.

[ starlightmusic ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:21 PM

I love that Clay is Beckett upside down (Mariner's number)

[ Meghan ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:21 PM

Coco has a sore hamstring...Tito says it's nothing big, they are going to rest him as a precaution though.

[ Liza ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:21 PM

Buchholz is indeed wearing (a) hemp necklace(s).

Also, I'm watching Jed's postgame interview and he is SO CUTE IT HURTS.

[ jenny again ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:21 PM

coco = tight hamstring, but he took bp, so the speculation is that it's not too serious // listed as day-to-day

[ fc ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:22 PM

Hi kids! I haven't been as chatty lately in open threads because I notice when I'm typing or reading I sometimes miss key moments - like noogies! Fortunatly TG has righted that particular wrong.

[ starlightmusic ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:22 PM

Woo hoo! No error!

[ 1863_project ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:22 PM

HE IS. I love how excited he gets over the game ball. And the cell phone bit at the end. And...well, all of it. It's so ADORABLE.

(grins stupidly)

[ Liza ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:22 PM

The defense is up to fourth in the AL East (after being 13th or something). :P

[ Liza ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:23 PM

*AL. Not East.

Aww, Casey...

[ 1863_project ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:23 PM

Awww, poor Clay. I'm sure that's not what he wanted...

[ Meghan ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:23 PM

There goes the no-no!:-P

[ starlightmusic ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:23 PM

Hey Casey. No fraternizing with the enemy. That's it. You need more rest. Get the Intern back!

[ jenny again ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:24 PM

time for ... GIDP! (!!!)

[ Bethie ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:25 PM

Was Abreu just making eyes at the umpire??? HA

[ starlightmusic ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:25 PM

GIDP?

[ 1863_project ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:25 PM

THIS is fraternizing with the enemy. At least in my Pac-10-addicted mind.

(Subjects are Conor Jackson, now with the Diamondbacks, and Sam Fuld.)

...ugh, Clay, not fun. Don't do that again.

[ Liza ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:25 PM

Oh my god. And the part where Jed talks about how Jacoby got the same fake-ball treatment? I love how Jacoby must've told him about that...

EEW. That was a TOWERING hit.

[ jules ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:26 PM

dammit.

[ fc ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:26 PM

Well that sucks. Immensely.

[ Bethie ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:26 PM

Double crap.

[ starlightmusic ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:26 PM

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

[ jenny again ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:26 PM

awwwww biscuits.

stupid air raid siren.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:26 PM

DAMMIT, BOBBY!

[ 1863_project ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:26 PM

GIDP = ground into double play. Which did not happen.

[ mjaegs ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:26 PM

Hi everyone. Missed a few threads due to family obligations. Very happy to be back. Not so happy about that 2fer. grrr.

[ Bethie ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:27 PM

DAMMIT!!!

[ fc ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:27 PM

OK, WTF??

[ starlightmusic ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:27 PM

WTF?!?!?!?!?!?!?! C'mon, Clay!

[ njdevils ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:27 PM

Ugh.

[ 1863_project ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:27 PM

YES! You know Jacoby totally tipped him off about that! The two of them just need to take care of each other.

I hate A-Rod. Have I ever mentioned that?

(Is this revenge for the whole Phil Hughes drubbing the other night?)

[ jenny again ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:27 PM

starlight: Ground(ed) Into Double Play

... which is not what's happening here.

[ jules ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:28 PM

omg. This is NOT what we -- and Clay -- needed.

I hate A-Rod.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:28 PM

I hate A-Rod...

[ Danielle ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:28 PM

This is not what I wanted to see :(

[ jenny again ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:28 PM

ish.

c'mon, stickbug. let's scoot forward here. you can do it!

[ 1863_project ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:28 PM

Apparently Clay hit the spot perfectly. Tek just picked the wrong spot this time. Either that or A-Rod just guessed right. Hmmm. There's still plenty of time...

[ jules ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:28 PM

LOL, ecl, GMTA.

[ Meghan ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:28 PM

A-Rod just passed Ted Williams on the all-time HR list:-(

[ Bethie ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:29 PM

Poor Clay looks like he's about to cry. I wanna cry for him. :(

[ starlightmusic ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:30 PM

Let me just be juvenile for a minute and say A-Rod is an A-Hole.

[ 1863_project ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:31 PM

Don't worry, Clay - Jacoby has your back, just like he has since you two were drafted together. See?

[ Meghan ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:31 PM

Clay needs to pull himself together, he does look visibly pissed...two HR's do not a ballgame make.

[ Erin ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:31 PM

I was in the kitchen when the 2- HRs happend. Come on Clay!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:31 PM

Nice Mikey sighting there...

[ Danielle ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:32 PM

Don't worry starlight. It's not juvenile. it's a fact of life.

[ 1863_project ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:32 PM

There we go. Nice recovery, Clay!

And there was the big inning. (knocks on wood)

[ jules ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:32 PM

This is a big lesson for a baby pitcher--sucking it up after getting beaten up. He has more innings to go through.

[ jenny again ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:32 PM

ok, let's get those runs RIGHT BACK, you hear me, guys? eeep.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:33 PM

Jules, and at the same time, no less. But Steph got it started.

[ Bethie ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:33 PM

Yep, time to turn it up a notch and score 2 in the second....Please??

[ jenny again ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:34 PM

stickbug can really prove his maturity here tonight; that would be awesomesauce. :: hugs him :: :: gives him some hot cocoa ::

[ 1863_project ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:34 PM

What did I start? Did I miss something?

[ Meghan ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:34 PM

I could totally imagine Clay walking back to the dugout and just sitting down, and then Beckett tapping him on the shoulder and pointing to the still upright water coolers, reminding him that he forgot to do something...

JD!!!

[ 1863_project ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:34 PM

J.D. is ANGRY. Take THAT.

[ Bethie ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:35 PM

Yep...it's official...I love JD Drew. :)

[ jenny again ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:35 PM

meghan: excellent call.

[ starlightmusic ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:36 PM

How did Clay get the nickname "stickbug" (I'm afraid to ask)

C'mon Tektektektektek

[ Meghan ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:37 PM

At least they seem to be making Wang actually work tonight...

[ starlightmusic ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:37 PM

Ok, I'll take it. Casey at bat...

[ jenny again ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:37 PM

TG calls him stickbug so i call him stickbug. ;D

[ 1863_project ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:38 PM

McClellan is the crew chief tonight! I'll bet he thinks he's outnumbered.

Sorry, bad Civil War joke.

[ fc ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:38 PM

star - just look at him.

[ Liza ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:38 PM

I absolutely LOVE JD.

Starlight - Here :)

[ 1863_project ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:39 PM

I call Clay Mihashi, but that's only because he looks EXACTLY like an anime character of that name (on the left).

[ jenny again ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:39 PM

c'mon, The Mayor!

[ Liza ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:40 PM

C'mon, Casey... make him work for this...

[ Piney61 ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:40 PM

hey all. How are you all today?

[ Piney61 ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:40 PM

I don't trust Lugo in the clutch....

[ Erin ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:40 PM

I'm great Piney!

[ 1863_project ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:40 PM

Here's the ultimate "Clay looks like Mihashi" picture. Well, that's the best one I've found so far.

And wow, what's up with Wang?

[ Liza ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:41 PM

Hey, Piney! :)

Ball 4... wow. Control issues much?

[ fc ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:41 PM

Well this is an interesting inning so far.

[ jenny again ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:41 PM

"wang does not look sharp so far ..."

understatement of the evening, i believe. KNOCK ON EVERLOVING WOOD.

[ starlightmusic ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:41 PM

You're so RIGHT. He does look all sticky...

[ starlightmusic ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:42 PM

Piney....DO IT AGAIN!!!

[ Meghan ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:42 PM

There's so many empty seats...I should have gone:-(

3-2!

[ 1863_project ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:42 PM

Heeeey, welcome back! (I apologize on behalf of Clay for the bottom of the first.)

[ Liza ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:42 PM

Yeah JD!

Hello, Jacoby. :)

[ Piney61 ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:42 PM

I don't trust Jacoby in the clutch....

[ starlightmusic ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:42 PM

Pinstripes are for pinheads.

[ jenny again ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:42 PM

could have been worse, lugo! :: grudging praise ::

COME ON ELLS! :D :D :D

[ 1863_project ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:43 PM

Okay, Jacoby - let's do the Oregon thing again. (Jed is in the dugout if you need him.)

[ jules ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:43 PM

Woa...I go to kill a spider and lookie what happens.

Go Jacoby!

[ fc ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:43 PM

I'd hardly call the 2nd inning with no outs "clutch."

[ Meghan ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:43 PM

Wang must have drank the same shit Lester drank Monday.

[ starlightmusic ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:44 PM

Man...I hate pickles.

[ Liza ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:44 PM

Oh, Tek, the grass, the grass.

[ fc ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:45 PM

This just in: spiders endangered in Boston.

[ Liza ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:45 PM

Hey, Piney, do you trust Pedroia in the clutch?

[ 1863_project ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:45 PM

Wow, that was...really awkward baserunning.

[ Bethie ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:45 PM

Come on wee one!!

[ Piney61 ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:45 PM

I don't trust Pedroia in the clutch

[ jules ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:45 PM

TEK!

[ 1863_project ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:46 PM

Ugh, damnit! We had a good opportunity there, guys...

[ Liza ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:46 PM

Bye bye Pedie.

[ Erin ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:46 PM

Come on Stickbug!

[ starlightmusic ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:47 PM

NO HASSELHAUF PLEASE Your psyching me out...

[ 1863_project ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:48 PM

...I have the 'Five Dollar Footlong' song stuck in my head now.

[ Lyndsay ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:48 PM

yayyy Gameday!

jesus, 2nd inning and already a bazillion comments.

thank God Wang is losing his sh-t already -I REALLY want Buck to get a win here!

I hate you, A-Rod.

[ Piney61 ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:48 PM

fc -- It's more of because last night's game I did something like that and it worked well :P I only used it there becaues of the situation

[ jenny again ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:50 PM

come on buck, settle in. go after them. you can do it, kiddo. come on come on come on.

[ Lyndsay ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:50 PM

Giambi, (or Fat A.J. as I call him) his neck is bulging.

god what an ugly f-ck.

strike him out, Buck!

[ Liza ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:50 PM

C'mon, Buch... get him out...

[ jenny again ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:51 PM

i swear, if clay turns sideways, he disappears. somebody FEED that kid!

[ starlightmusic ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:51 PM

Is that a needle I see sticking out of his bat?

[ Meghan ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:51 PM

I kinda wish Tek had barreled over Moeller, just to see if he could have been safe. And then the Yanks might have had to put Posada in again and everyone could steal!

[ fc ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:51 PM

Ah, I get it Piney. All that stuff amkes me nervous - I say, say nothing! But hey, whatever works...

[ jenny again ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:51 PM

atta boy, pedey. LOVE.

[ Lyndsay ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:52 PM

it would be really cool if A-Rod's wife went into labor RIGHT NOW.

[ Liza ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:52 PM

Fun fact I learned from my friend who totally loves this guy: Robinson Cano is named for Jackie Robinson.

[ 1863_project ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:52 PM

(cracks up) That was good...!

[ jenny again ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:52 PM

THERE'S the wicked sweet curve. nnngh. atta boy, BUCK!

[ 1863_project ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:53 PM

To the A-Rod bit, not Cano. The Cano bit is pretty cool, actually.

And hey, they literally just said it on ESPN, too!

[ starlightmusic ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:53 PM

WHAT? Someone actually SLEPT with that jackass?

[ Erin ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:53 PM

I had no idea that A-Rod's wife was pregnant until today.

[ njdevils ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:54 PM

And he's #24 because that's 42 backwards. (for those of you lucky enough not to be watching ESPN)

[ Lyndsay ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:54 PM

Wang can either be a 2-hit wonderboy or he completely sh-ts the bed and leaves by the 3rd inning - there's no in-betweens for him.

I'm sensing this is a sh-t the bed kind of night for him. and we all know the Yankees have absolutely nothing in their bullpen. yay more fun with sh-tty bullpens!!!

[ Erin ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:54 PM

Dose ESPN ever mention random Red Sox facts?

[ starlightmusic ] says:
on April 16, 2008 7:55 PM

Nah, he was named after Mrs. Robinson (jesus love you more than you can know....woah woah woah...)

[ 1863_project ] says:

I can remember one random Sox fact from ESPN - they mentioned that Jacoby and Trevor Crowe went way back once during Spring Training. I added Jed myself from my seat in my basement.

(Starlight - Simon and Garfunkel are amazing.)

I had a weird day today. I think I was asked out on a date by a kid that I'm 96% sure is gay and my mom just broke my brain with a mental image that I prefer not to share with you guys....because it's horrifying

[ Liza ] says:

Oh, Pleats, what was that??

[ Lyndsay ] says:

well, that is how babies are usually made, starlight. However, A-Rod probably had to imagine Joanie "Chyna" Laurer as he was procreating.

but then again, if Cynthia went into labor right now, A-Rod would probably go "give a good push for me, baby - good luck!" and go back out to the field.

[ Piney61 ] says:

Hey Piney, once upon a time I committed the ultimate romantic sac bunt. I was totally enamored of a guy who I played in a band with, and we were best friends. A couple of years into the friendship, I came to terms with it being no more than that, and just a couple of months later was at an event where he met this young lady and was clearly smitten. She and I both ended up at the same after party and I encouraged her to go out with him because he was such a great guy. I called him the next day and he was all a-flutter about her. I told him she really liked him and he should go for it. Seven months later I sang at their wedding (and they're still happily married 17 years later). I like to think that I had a hand in it.

YAYZ SCORE!!!!!

Oh, don't get me started on high school. Actually, middle school is even worse - it takes about ten people to ask one kid out. It's almost funny.

I was just on the phone with my dad, and I looked over and saw Jacoby on the TV and had a 'damn' moment. I randomly mumbled, 'Wow, Jacoby is pretty,' over the phone...

[ 1863_project ] says:

There's good ol' Mr. Clean. I was joking about making him a third baseman, because he's a fantastic pitcher, but you know he'd be all, "Look at me, Jed, Hot Corner!" in Pawtucket if he was converted.

(For those who don't know, Jed and Justin get along quite swimmingly and do stupid interviews together. Well, they did one stupid audio interview, at least.)

[ Liza ] says:

on April 16, 2008 8:41 PM

Ike looks like Lex Luther.

[ Liza ] says:
on April 16, 2008 8:41 PM

He's got four necklaces on, I think...

C'mon, Buch. DO NOT let him make contact with the ball.

[ Liza ] says:
on April 16, 2008 8:42 PM

...But, uh, not that far inside.

[ fc ] says:
on April 16, 2008 8:42 PM

Composure, Clay.

[ starlightmusic ] says:
on April 16, 2008 8:43 PM

Yeah, but no hemp that I can see. It looks like it's all metal...unless that red one is actually red hemp, which I haven't seen in AGES.

[ Lyndsay ] says:
on April 16, 2008 8:43 PM

Tav's like, "Christ, I gotta work some innings again tonight? I was hoping to get out to the NY bars tonight and follow some girls back to their cars with my cattle gun".

[ Liza ] says:
on April 16, 2008 8:43 PM

Okay, Buch. Don't let him make contact but DO NOT WALK HIM.

[ starlightmusic ] says:
on April 16, 2008 8:43 PM

I should make us all rally hemp necklaces. :)

[ Lulu ] says:
on April 16, 2008 8:44 PM

ugh

[ Liza ] says:
on April 16, 2008 8:44 PM

Oh FUG.

[ 1863_project ] says:
on April 16, 2008 8:44 PM

I am so glad the TV's on mute right now. I don't want to hear the fan reaction to that at all.

[ blood and whiskey ] says:
on April 16, 2008 8:44 PM

uhm..

-these announcers make me sick.

[ Lyndsay ] says:
on April 16, 2008 8:44 PM

nooooO! I want Buck to win one!!!! :-(((

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 16, 2008 8:44 PM

sigh...

[ fc ] says:
on April 16, 2008 8:44 PM

dammit

[ starlightmusic ] says:
on April 16, 2008 8:45 PM

WTF?!?!?!?! We need some relief. Still love you, Clay, but this is NOT your night.

[ jenny again ] says:
on April 16, 2008 8:45 PM

d'oh

D:

[ Liza ] says:
on April 16, 2008 8:45 PM

o hai batshit.

[ Erin ] says:
on April 16, 2008 8:45 PM

DAMNIT!

[ 1863_project ] says:
on April 16, 2008 8:45 PM

Don't worry, we'll win in the ninth, like we did last night. And the night before. And...

Also, since I've been abnormally lucky so far today - I forgot about an appointment and then got an e-mail from my professor saying it had been canceled anyway - I'm hoping for an, erm..."late defensive replacement." (keeps her fingers crossed) Hey, he can hit...

[ Lulu ] says:
on April 16, 2008 8:47 PM

It's only the 4th! And Wang hasn't been pitching the best. Let's make it 3 comebacks in a row! I sound way more cheerful in text than I actually feel.

[ starlightmusic ] says:
on April 16, 2008 8:47 PM

Casey, STOP TALKING TO JETER!

[ fc ] says:
on April 16, 2008 8:47 PM

awww, I hate seeing our pitchers like that.

[ 1863_project ] says:
on April 16, 2008 8:48 PM

(writes about Henry Chadwick - the real one, not Sam Fuld - and tries to distract herself from the game for a moment) I need some happy thoughts here...this is getting depressing. Even if I still think we can potentially win in the ninth three nights in a row, the likelihood of that is...

[ Liza ] says:
on April 16, 2008 8:48 PM

C'mon, Tavy.

Aw, Clay. He looks sad. Either that or exhausted...

[ Lyndsay ] says:
on April 16, 2008 8:48 PM

in fact, that is exactly why the sox keep giving Tav innings: to keep him from following girls home from bars with his cattle gun.

[ 1863_project ] says:
on April 16, 2008 8:49 PM

(plays Rick Astley) Tavarez is insane and will therefore be immune.

[ blood and whiskey ] says:
on April 16, 2008 8:49 PM

*head into wall*

[ Lulu ] says:
on April 16, 2008 8:49 PM

crap

[ starlightmusic ] says:
on April 16, 2008 8:50 PM

Steph (that IS your name, right?), since you're the history buff...why aren't we called the Yankees (thinking of the 1770's Yankees)? The revolution started here...why are we the red sox?

[ Liza ] says:
on April 16, 2008 8:50 PM

That one was really crazy.

Fug.

[ fc ] says:
on April 16, 2008 8:50 PM

That was painful.

[ blood and whiskey ] says:
on April 16, 2008 8:51 PM

thank GOD.
I ruined the art project I'd been working on because of that inning.

-sighs-

[ Erin ] says:
on April 16, 2008 8:51 PM

Come on offense!

[ Lyndsay ] says:
on April 16, 2008 8:51 PM

ok, what the hell was Tavarez just yelling/talking to himself about as he was walking off the mound?

I'm totally right about this one. I knew it!

He just has to keep imagining that he's throwing the ball at all the women who have rejected him.

[ jenny again ] says:
on April 16, 2008 8:51 PM

cheer up, emo stickbug!

maybe throwing some watercoolers will help ... ?

[ 1863_project ] says:
on April 16, 2008 8:51 PM

...that's a very good question, especially given that the Sox started out as the Boston Americans and the Yankees were once the New York Highlanders. Hmmm...

[ starlightmusic ] says:
on April 16, 2008 8:51 PM

I should go read 1984 for tomorrow...especially with how things are going...but then I'll miss when we come back.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 16, 2008 8:52 PM

sighs also

Yanno...Abreu is one of the few Yankees who I still like, but not when all these runs are scored against US under his watch...

[ Lulu ] says:
on April 16, 2008 8:52 PM

I believe this all happened after a questionable ball? Clay thought he'd struck Matsui out but it was counted a ball and matsui hits the double.

[ Piney61 ] says:
on April 16, 2008 8:52 PM

I don't trust the offense in the clutch....

[ LTrainLT@aol.com ] says:
on April 16, 2008 8:52 PM

anyone know the status of Clay's relationship with that penthouse pet?

because I figure he's either getting laid too much or not enough right now and Susan Sarandon is totally messing with his mojo...

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 16, 2008 8:53 PM

Lyndsay, with looks like that I'm not surprised about women rejecting batshit. He's one of the few Dominican players out there who is not attractive in any way.

[ 1863_project ] says:
on April 16, 2008 8:54 PM

So I can blame McClellan again! REPLACE HIM WITH BURNSIDE NOW!

[ Lulu ] says:
on April 16, 2008 8:54 PM

Ah Piney, by now we have to unjinx the whole offense?

[ starlightmusic ] says:
on April 16, 2008 8:54 PM

Clay's dating a porn model? What explains a lot...

[ Liza ] says:
on April 16, 2008 8:55 PM

Starlight - Yep. And what's worse is that his DAD outed them on the radio.

Yeah Pedie!

[ Lulu ] says:
on April 16, 2008 8:55 PM

yay petey! Let's get those runs back!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 16, 2008 8:55 PM

He just doesn't look like the type to date a Penthouse Pet. He looks like he should be with the girl next door.

[ starlightmusic ] says:
on April 16, 2008 8:55 PM

icky...

[ Lyndsay ] says:
on April 16, 2008 8:56 PM

where you been, starlight? she went on stern and blabbed about it. I was thoroughly disappointed but just glad it wasnt jacoby.

[ 1863_project ] says:
on April 16, 2008 8:56 PM

GOOD JOB, DUSTIN. You and your mad hitting skills! (runs to get her ASU hat) It arrived in the mail right before Game 1 of the World Series last year. It's my Dustin hat!

[ starlightmusic ] says:
on April 16, 2008 8:56 PM

Yeah, and helping old ladies cross the street.

[ fc ] says:
on April 16, 2008 8:57 PM

PAPI! PEDEY!

[ blood and whiskey ] says:
on April 16, 2008 8:57 PM

Papi!

[ Lyndsay ] says:
on April 16, 2008 8:57 PM

YAYYYY PAPI! RBI!!!

[ starlightmusic ] says:
on April 16, 2008 8:57 PM

I don't listen to Howard Stern. I've been under the hole that is NPR. =]

[ ecl1958F ] says:
on April 16, 2008 8:57 PM

Papi, you make me smile! :-)

[ Lulu ] says:
on April 16, 2008 8:57 PM

There we go

[ Liza ] says:
on April 16, 2008 8:57 PM

PAPIIII!

[ 1863_project ] says:
on April 16, 2008 8:57 PM

NPR rocks. It's like the PBS of the radio! I wish I listened to it more...

[ Anonymous ] says:
on April 16, 2008 8:57 PM

Papi is back!

[ Danielle ] says:
on April 16, 2008 8:58 PM

oops forgot to put my name haha too excited!

[ Erin ] says:
on April 16, 2008 8:58 PM

My mom has a few choice words about Clays g/f. Then again her grandmother went to jail so women cold vote, so I can understand why my mom feels that way.

[ Lyndsay ] says:
on April 16, 2008 8:59 PM

damn, its 9 pm and we're only in the 5th???

[ 1863_project ] says:
on April 16, 2008 8:59 PM

MANNY! Nice, guys, nice!

[ blood and whiskey ] says:
on April 16, 2008 8:59 PM

-happy dance-

[ starlightmusic ] says:
on April 16, 2008 8:59 PM

I love how Ortiz's wife is so little compared to him. I wonder how safe she feels sleeping next to him...one wrong roll and squish by the teddy bear.

[ Liza ] says:
on April 16, 2008 9:00 PM

Yaaaay!

[ starlightmusic ] says:
on April 16, 2008 9:00 PM

YOOOOOUUUUUUUUUK

[ Liza ] says:
on April 16, 2008 9:00 PM

Yeah!!

[ 1863_project ] says:
on April 16, 2008 9:01 PM

...oh...my...God. Stomach in knots...

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 16, 2008 9:01 PM

I don't trust our hitters in the clutch...

[ mjaegs ] says:
on April 16, 2008 9:01 PM

Yay Papi & Manny! Papi don't push it. And I know this is a totally late comment, but did Casey's crawl back to the base before remind anyone of Wacky Wallwackers? Have I just dated myself by bringing that up?

[ fc ] says:
on April 16, 2008 9:01 PM

JD...c'mon, JD...

[ Piney61 ] says:
on April 16, 2008 9:01 PM

Okay um...I kinda effed up a bit on the past thingie....so um....yeah sorry?

[ blood and whiskey ] says:
on April 16, 2008 9:01 PM

hahahah!
hahah!
lolz, Wang's getting PWN3D!!!1!

[ fc ] says:
on April 16, 2008 9:02 PM

[ Liza ] says:
on April 16, 2008 9:02 PM

YES!!!

JD!!!!!!

See ya, Wang.

[ njdevils ] says:
on April 16, 2008 9:02 PM

Woo!

[ Lyndsay ] says:
on April 16, 2008 9:02 PM

high scoring game. SWEET.

[ 1863_project ] says:
on April 16, 2008 9:02 PM

This is kind of poetic.

[ Erin ] says:
on April 16, 2008 9:03 PM

Piney- Being the Broadway fan that I am the first thing that came into my mind when I read that article was the musical Gypsy when I read that. Which is about the ultimate stage mother.

[ 1863_project ] says:
on April 16, 2008 9:03 PM

Heeeeey...if the Sox score enough runs, do you think they'll put in some...defensive replacements late in the game?

Wishful thinking on my part, probably, but...

[ blood and whiskey ] says:
on April 16, 2008 9:03 PM

LOVE this commercial!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 16, 2008 9:04 PM

LOL, starlight -- only an Amazon wouldn't be little compared to Papi.

Great work guys...get a few more...

[ 1863_project ] says:
on April 16, 2008 9:05 PM

The pitcher's name sounds like Ganondorf. You know, from the Zelda games.

I am such a nerd.

[ Piney61 ] says:
on April 16, 2008 9:05 PM

Erin -- okay so I'm not the only one. I mean I'm sure that Bill Reynolds' main focus was to write a touching father/son article there...it just reads really stage parenty to me more than anything else.

[ Liza ] says:
on April 16, 2008 9:05 PM

I want them to put in TWO middle infield defensive replacements... ;D

Also, just as a general announcement: I got this today. I'm wearing it now!

[ Erin ] says:
on April 16, 2008 9:05 PM

Zelda is the best!

[ blood and whiskey ] says:
on April 16, 2008 9:06 PM

-Oh my god, 1863, I've always thought that.
