Looks like I'm the first one here. Blame it on me thinking the game started at 1:05.

Non-morning person that I am, I did NOT get up early and do my laundry! I'll be heading over there around midafternoon. I haven't even cooked brunch yet. Will find today's audiostream and listen while I get on with my day. Will check back here at some point.

Go Sox!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 20, 2008 1:25 PM

I hate talking to myself...but it's too bad Steph is busy today, seeing as how Jed is playing!

[ Ian ] says:
on April 20, 2008 1:26 PM

Poor Steph doesn't even get to see Jeb Lowry play today.

Pawtucket news - Kielty to the DL, David Pauley didn't make his start. No explanation given. One will be given after the game.

Texy hope you caught the Dustin manny moment of last night.

[ Erin ] says:
on April 20, 2008 1:26 PM

Hey all! I'm still pumped about last nights win by both the Sox and the Bruins

[ Danielle ] says:
on April 20, 2008 1:28 PM

Hey everyone! I'll check in at points during the game but have to study for finals this week :(
Hope's everyone's weekend is going well!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 20, 2008 1:34 PM

My weekend is going very well indeed. All these wins, great Manny moments, and I've even gotten some chores done. And it's been beautiful and sunny here. Spring is in full swing in North Carolina!

[ Abby ] says:
on April 20, 2008 1:34 PM

Why did Kielty go on the DL?

Yay Jed!

[ Ian ] says:
on April 20, 2008 1:34 PM

The Pro Jo is speculating the Red Sox could make a roster move after the game with David Pauley being scratched today.

Likely candidate is Clay Buchholz although it's pure speculation.

[ Ian ] says:
on April 20, 2008 1:35 PM

This is what they have:

Kielty had been playing through pain in his left hand. When the PawSox returned from their road trip Saturday, Kielty went to a doctor. He was sent to another doctor today and the team announced as this afternoon's game against Buffalo was beginning that Kielty was being placed on the seven-day disabled list, retroactive to Saturday.

[ Abby ] says:
on April 20, 2008 1:35 PM

Hey, the junior announcer on NESN's from my hometown!

[ Ian ] says:
on April 20, 2008 1:35 PM

well that's not how you want to see the game start.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 20, 2008 1:35 PM

Audiostream on Texas side again...KZNX 1530.

Oh shit.

[ Ellen ] says:
on April 20, 2008 1:36 PM

Good afternoon!

[ fc ] says:
on April 20, 2008 1:36 PM

holy cow
Not how we wanted to start!

[ Danielle ] says:
on April 20, 2008 1:37 PM

Not to worry- It's only the first inning!

[ Abby ] says:
on April 20, 2008 1:38 PM

Wake, that was awesome. Nice DP.

[ fc ] says:
on April 20, 2008 1:38 PM

Much better!

[ Ellen ] says:
on April 20, 2008 1:38 PM

Yesssss! Nice dp.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 20, 2008 1:39 PM

And E-6 didn't E. Thank goodness for small favors.

[ jules ] says:
on April 20, 2008 1:57 PM

Hi All!

Not a great start, but let's hope Wake settles down.

[ fc ] says:
on April 20, 2008 1:58 PM

MANNY! CHILL!

[ starr4 ] says:
on April 20, 2008 1:59 PM

Hi Everyone!
Obligations have kept me off line but I've been keeping up with y'all reading the threads.

Interesting speculation on Pauley.

OH!!! Manny gets thrown out.

[ jules ] says:
on April 20, 2008 1:59 PM

MANNY!

That was STUPID! STUPID! STUPID!

[ Ian ] says:
on April 20, 2008 1:59 PM

Well I guess Manny will get today off instead of tomorrow.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 20, 2008 1:59 PM

WTF?????

[ Ellen ] says:
on April 20, 2008 1:59 PM

Wow. Bye Manny.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 20, 2008 1:59 PM

Okay, I'm audio only. Did he get any more irate than the other night when he screamed at the ump?

[ starr4 ] says:
on April 20, 2008 2:00 PM

So, who'll play in his place?

[ Ian ] says:
on April 20, 2008 2:00 PM

Thurston will probably replace him

[ starr4 ] says:
on April 20, 2008 2:01 PM

Thanks, Ian. You're so smart. :)

Manny may want today AND tomorrow.

[ fc ] says:
on April 20, 2008 2:02 PM

Ian calls it again!

[ Ian ] says:
on April 20, 2008 2:02 PM

And it appears to be Joe Thurston who's getting loose in the dugout.

[ fc ] says:
on April 20, 2008 2:02 PM

Does this mean Manny will be in tomorrow?

[ Ellen ] says:
on April 20, 2008 2:02 PM

He turned to the ump and said something on his way back to the dugout.

[ Ian ] says:
on April 20, 2008 2:03 PM

some very questionable strike calls here.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 20, 2008 2:03 PM

Still can't believe that he got thrown out...hopefully he'll use the next day -- or two -- to do LOTS of meditation.

[ Ian ] says:
on April 20, 2008 2:04 PM

THat all depends fc on Coco playing.

The Red Sox are 6-1 when Ellsbury leads off.

[ fc ] says:
on April 20, 2008 2:04 PM

Yeah, I actually agree with Manny but that was not the way to handle it. He must not have had the chance to meditate since last night's game.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 20, 2008 2:04 PM

Ellen, I can't remember which game it was where he screamed at the ump. I either saw it or saw pictures. Very intense. If he didn't get thrown out then, I'm surprised he got it today for "turning to the ump and saying something."

[ Ian ] says:
on April 20, 2008 2:05 PM

Scarier thought right now. Our cleanup hitter for the rest of the game is Joe Thurston

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 20, 2008 2:06 PM

Interesting historical notes: The Texas announcers just mentioned that today is the birthday of Fenway Park. And after the inaugural game, the headlines the next day were instead about the sinking of the Titanic. And this is only the fourth time in Manny's career that he has been ejected.

[ Ellen ] says:
on April 20, 2008 2:07 PM

I know, but I couldn't read his lips or hear what he said. It was probably something like "you &^@(# &(!@"

[ Ian ] says:
on April 20, 2008 2:08 PM

If I get quiet for a while, don't worry. It's just the inner fat kid in me stuffing my face.

[ Ian ] says:
on April 20, 2008 2:09 PM

i have that in my notes for the postgame recap ecl. pretty interesting to hear that on the rangers broadcast.

[ fc ] says:
on April 20, 2008 2:11 PM

Shonda Schilling doesn't know who we have in right field??

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 20, 2008 2:13 PM

LOL, Ellen!

Ian, I just stuffed my face with a feta/sundried tomato omelet on a spinach-feta bagel, washed down with Georgia Pecan coffee. Hungry yet? And glad to oblige about the historical notes.

Here's a historical question for the stats and scores folks: Does Lugo get ejected much? I've seen several pics of him where he's glaring at or jawing at the home plate ump with his trademark murderous glare.

Speaking of...nice play.

[ jules ] says:
on April 20, 2008 2:13 PM

fc, I wondered the same thing.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 20, 2008 2:15 PM

Okay, time to hit the shower and get the laundry ready. Will check back before I head out.

[ jules ] says:
on April 20, 2008 2:15 PM

From what Remy said, Manny must've said "one of the 'magic' words." I took it to mean that while he's complained before, this time he went over the line.

Too bad. Stupid move.

[ jules ] says:
on April 20, 2008 2:17 PM

That looked outside to me.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 20, 2008 2:18 PM

LOL, the Texas announcers just said that "Lugo isn't very happy" with the called strike three. I was afraid that he was going to end up in the showers with Manny.

Okay, now I really am going to take that shower...

[ fc ] says:
on April 20, 2008 2:20 PM

NICE Ellsbury.

[ jules ] says:
on April 20, 2008 2:20 PM

KID! Great running there.

[ Ian ] says:
on April 20, 2008 2:24 PM

From the Pro JO:

Ramirez was called out on strikes and as he left the batter's box he said something to Emmel. Put it this way, you don't have to be a good lip reader to figure out what Ramirez said.

back to stuffing my face

[ Ian ] says:
on April 20, 2008 2:26 PM

Oh one more thing. The speculation about Pauley is because the flu bug is making it's way through the Sox clubhouse meaning that quite possibly that Clay is suffering from it.

[ Ellen ] says:
on April 20, 2008 2:34 PM

They're talking cell phones again.

[ Ian ] says:
on April 20, 2008 2:36 PM

I don't believe it. It's Jim Rice.

That was by far one of their funnier moments.

[ Abby ] says:
on April 20, 2008 2:38 PM

The ice cream machine is in the press box? That's not going to make the players happy...

[ Caroline ] says:
on April 20, 2008 2:38 PM

Remember how last year the team could not score a run after the 6th inning to save its life?

Do you think it's going to be the opposite this year?

Also, I'm flipping between the Dodgers game*, the Cubs game, and this game; I have baseball ADD.

*I refuse to think of it as the Braves game, because I do not like them.

[ Ellen ] says:
on April 20, 2008 2:41 PM

I love that commercial. Acting at its finest. I won a trivia question on Jim Rice's blog and the prize is from when they filmed that ad.

I'm leaving now. Have to go to my in-law's for dinner.

[ Ian ] says:
on April 20, 2008 2:43 PM

There's a shock. Lugo almost grounding into a double play

[ fc ] says:
on April 20, 2008 2:45 PM

Double steal - awesome!

[ Ian ] says:
on April 20, 2008 2:45 PM

Nicely executed double steal. Now do something with it please boys.

[ Ian ] says:
on April 20, 2008 2:46 PM

another horseshit strike 3 call.

Why don't they have the Amica pitch zone today.

[ Abby ] says:
on April 20, 2008 2:47 PM

Joe Thurston! Do something good please!

[ Ian ] says:
on April 20, 2008 2:48 PM

FLUCK!!!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 20, 2008 2:49 PM

sigh...

[ Abby ] says:
on April 20, 2008 2:49 PM

Ugh.

[ Ian ] says:
on April 20, 2008 2:54 PM

well that blows chowdah chunks

[ fc ] says:
on April 20, 2008 2:54 PM

I am NOT enjoying this.

[ fc ] says:
on April 20, 2008 2:55 PM

OK, I enjoyed that.
Nice, YOOOUUK.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 20, 2008 3:05 PM

Oh maaaaannnn, just got done with the shower and checked back in. Shit. I'm with you, fc.

[ fc ] says:
on April 20, 2008 3:10 PM

Well my Youk comment was about a catch he made - and then came that solid hit. My boy's definitely having a good day at the office. I just hope it pays off.

[ fc ] says:
on April 20, 2008 3:10 PM

damn

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 20, 2008 3:10 PM

(crossing all fingers and toes)...C'mon, Jacoby!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 20, 2008 3:11 PM

Stupid radio delay...DAMMIT!

[ Caroline ] says:
on April 20, 2008 3:12 PM

I'm just trying to tell myself that the fact that they're getting all these baserunners has to be a good sign overall if not actually adding up to jack in this game.

[ fc ] says:
on April 20, 2008 3:14 PM

Caroline, if they just keep pushing and taking advantage of every opportunity, eventually something will come of it. I just hope it's enough.

[ Caroline ] says:
on April 20, 2008 3:18 PM

Right, and the ability to put guys on base will pay off in games that Manny hasn't been ejected from, of course.

[ Ian ] says:
on April 20, 2008 3:21 PM

yay Jeb

[ Ian ] says:
on April 20, 2008 3:21 PM

rally cap time

[ fc ] says:
on April 20, 2008 3:21 PM

See what I mean? :)

[ Ian ] says:
on April 20, 2008 3:22 PM

here come the Sox

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 20, 2008 3:22 PM

Ready to head to the laundromat...but this looks like it may be a good time to stick around for a few minutes. :-)

[ Abby ] says:
on April 20, 2008 3:25 PM

Come on, Joe!

[ Ian ] says:
on April 20, 2008 3:25 PM

Did they catch Wes Littleton on the toilet taking this picture?

[ Abby ] says:
on April 20, 2008 3:25 PM

That was some hustle to first!

[ Erin ] says:
on April 20, 2008 3:25 PM

Littleton has the weirdest pitching motion.

And I've never seen someone so happy to get hit by a pitch.

[ fc ] says:
on April 20, 2008 3:26 PM

dammit dammit dammit

[ Ian ] says:
on April 20, 2008 3:28 PM

Alex Rodriguez left Sunday's game in the sixth inning with an apparent hamstring injury.

[ Ian ] says:
on April 20, 2008 3:28 PM

JD Spewwwwwwwwww

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 20, 2008 3:31 PM

Okay, that's a start. Chores beckon...will see you guys later, as in briefly tomorrow. Keeping fingers crossed for the 8th and 9th.

[ Ian ] says:
on April 20, 2008 3:32 PM

Nice circus catch there Thurston

[ Abby ] says:
on April 20, 2008 3:32 PM

What a catch!

[ Erin ] says:
on April 20, 2008 3:43 PM

This home plate ump is ridiculous.

[ Ian ] says:
on April 20, 2008 3:47 PM

Way to go Jeb...........

[ fc ] says:
on April 20, 2008 3:47 PM

ALRIGHT PUPS!

[ joyosity ] says:
on April 20, 2008 3:47 PM

I love our rookies!

[ Kara ] says:
on April 20, 2008 3:51 PM

Well, that was an epic foul. So close.

[ fc ] says:
on April 20, 2008 3:53 PM

THANK YOU PAPI

[ Kara ] says:
on April 20, 2008 3:53 PM

Did he seriously just beat that out?!

[ Ian ] says:
on April 20, 2008 3:53 PM

Heads up running by Jeb there plus great hustle down the line by Big Papi.

Anyone else just yell safe outloud???

[ Kara ] says:
on April 20, 2008 3:55 PM

My brother did.

[ Abby ] says:
on April 20, 2008 3:55 PM

Yay Papi!

Come on Dustin!

[ fc ] says:
on April 20, 2008 3:56 PM

YAY YAY YAY YAY YAY

[ Ian ] says:
on April 20, 2008 3:56 PM

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSs

[ Kara ] says:
on April 20, 2008 3:56 PM

DUSTY!!!!!!!!!

[ Abby ] says:
on April 20, 2008 3:56 PM

Woohoo!

[ Danielle ] says:
on April 20, 2008 3:56 PM

These boys can always make my day so much better!

[ Erin ] says:
on April 20, 2008 3:57 PM

Ian, I also yelled safe. Loudly, to make sure it was heard 3000 miles away in Boston.

[ Kara ] says:
on April 20, 2008 3:57 PM

I knew there was a reason Pedroia's my favorite.

[ Ian ] says:
on April 20, 2008 4:01 PM

bases juiced for the MAYOR

[ 1863_project ] says:
on April 20, 2008 4:03 PM

Wow, seems I've missed quite a show today! (checked Gameday to see what went down) I'm surprised I didn't miss the whole game...

C'mon, Sean!

[ Ian ] says:
on April 20, 2008 4:03 PM

Since we have a MAYOR. This team needs a sheriff.

[ Ian ] says:
on April 20, 2008 4:05 PM

The way the umps been calling strikes, im quite happy he didn't there.

[ fc ] says:
on April 20, 2008 4:05 PM

There's a new sheriff in town. And his name is Josh.

[ fc ] says:
on April 20, 2008 4:06 PM

G'head, sure, hand it to us. We'll take it.

[ Ian ] says:
on April 20, 2008 4:06 PM

Hit the road Jack and don't you come
back no more, no more, no more, no More

[ 1863_project ] says:
on April 20, 2008 4:06 PM

Sweet. I got here at just the right time!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 20, 2008 4:07 PM

I'm baaaaaccccckkkk (just passing through en route to next errand). And it looks like we're back too. :-D

[ Abby ] says:
on April 20, 2008 4:07 PM

I second the motion of Sheriff Josh.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 20, 2008 4:07 PM

Hi Steph (waving).

[ Ian ] says:
on April 20, 2008 4:08 PM

so fc you're telling me I need to change this picture.

http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x97/soxanddawgs/ace-of-hearts.gif

[ 1863_project ] says:
on April 20, 2008 4:09 PM

Hey! (waves back)

From what I've read, although he's struck out twice Jed also has two hits tonight. Attaboy!

[ jules ] says:
on April 20, 2008 4:10 PM

Hi 18, I haven't been on the board much today, but Jed was called out on a really bad call. He's done great!

[ fc ] says:
on April 20, 2008 4:11 PM

Ian, just strap some guns on him, have him get some of his own boots...

[ 1863_project ] says:
on April 20, 2008 4:11 PM

He got rookie-called again? Awww...

This is the first time I've let him play, erm, "unsupervised," so I'm glad to hear he was well-behaved and kicked ass and took names.

It's Papel-time, isn't it?

[ Ian ] says:
on April 20, 2008 4:11 PM

Our new left fielder is Julio Lugo. LOL

[ Abby ] says:
on April 20, 2008 4:12 PM

If that was fair...

[ Ian ] says:
on April 20, 2008 4:13 PM

but it wasn't.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 20, 2008 4:13 PM

LOL, Ian! I can't picture him in left. I thought he was exclusively an infielder, but hey, whatever Tito wants.

[ 1863_project ] says:
on April 20, 2008 4:13 PM

(has a heart attack) The radio just...to use a now-antiquated term, I got Truped.

[ fc ] says:
on April 20, 2008 4:13 PM

Maybe he's trying to ease him out of the park

[ Abby ] says:
on April 20, 2008 4:13 PM

Wait, they put Lugo in left? Has he ever played outfield before?

[ Ian ] says:
on April 20, 2008 4:13 PM

I just started cracking up when Orsillo said Lugo was in left.

[ Ian ] says:
on April 20, 2008 4:14 PM

it's his first time playing the outfield for the Sox.

[ fc ] says:
on April 20, 2008 4:14 PM

Proof that Tito has a sense of humor.
(Not that that was in doubt.)

[ Ian ] says:
on April 20, 2008 4:15 PM

What a freakin win.

[ Abby ] says:
on April 20, 2008 4:15 PM

Quite a game. Nice job, boys.

[ Danielle ] says:
on April 20, 2008 4:15 PM

Well that had a very happy ending

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 20, 2008 4:16 PM

Wiping sweat from brow yet again....how many come from behind victories is that now?

[ fc ] says:
on April 20, 2008 4:16 PM

soweeeeet

[ 1863_project ] says:
on April 20, 2008 4:16 PM

Damn, I can't believe I missed most of this game! At least I saw the parts I needed to...

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 20, 2008 4:17 PM

I'm just glad I stopped back to the house on my way up the street!

[ Anonymous ] says:
on April 20, 2008 4:19 PM

5th in the last 6 wins have been of the comeback variety.

[ Erin ] says:
on April 20, 2008 4:19 PM

Hey there are two Erins here now. That was a great game, come from behind victories are the best.

[ Ian ] says:
on April 20, 2008 4:19 PM

it would have been nice to put my name in there.

best part is they did it without manny although it almost cost them.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 20, 2008 4:20 PM

Amazing re the comebacks. Okay, I'm outta here....and with a smile on my face that I didn't have 45 minutes ago.

[ 1863_project ] says:
on April 20, 2008 4:22 PM

Right, back to paper-writing. Wish I didn't have to miss this one, but it's always better to miss most of a victory than most of a loss, I suppose. See everyone later!

[ njdevils ] says:
on April 20, 2008 4:25 PM

I missed it too, 1863. I had to read Grapes of Wrath for English (yay Stanford!?), but I would have much rather watched the game.

[ Erin ] says:
on April 20, 2008 4:29 PM

I've been around for a while, and commented before, but just not in a while. I have a link attached to my name, so hopefully that will help people avoid any confusion about us. :)

[ njdevils ] says:
on April 20, 2008 4:45 PM

Maybe 1863's prophecy of A-Rod dying last night wasn't too far from the truth:
"Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez left Sunday's game against the Baltimore Orioles in the sixth inning with a strained right quad and is considered day-to-day."
=D

[ Piney61 ] says:
on April 20, 2008 4:58 PM

Hey all. I had to work today but I was listening on the radio at work(my semi-boss is awesome) and honestly I was amost completely useless and mixing up some chicken salad during the rally. I was afraid to move...it was pretty funny and then the tying run was scored as I was serving someone and I was like all completely useless....I think the lesson here is that any early afternoon games that will be listened on the radio at my work(Subway) will basically show me being really useless and distracted.

Also holy crap on Wakey not walking anybody as well
