Hey everyone!

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:00 PM

Maybe it will just be us tonight!

[ fc ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:01 PM

Naaah, no such luck.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:01 PM

I'm here (waving)...sitting here getting all my various ducks in a row to enjoy the game.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:02 PM

AW DANG! :)

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:02 PM

giggling at fc.

[ fc ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:05 PM

ecl: Thanks, I'm here all week. Try the veal.

[ Ian ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:06 PM

I'll stay away tonight and leave it to the girls.

[ Lulu ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:07 PM

Hi!
So apparently Rays fans think this is the most important serires of their season...

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:07 PM

GALS, Ian. Gals.

Chicks. Dudettes. Babes. Dames.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:07 PM

Awww, c'mon Ian...you're good at being one of the girls!

fc: Huh? Try the veal? I'm a little bit brain-dead this evening...I don't get it... :-(

[ Erin ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:07 PM

Lulu- Are they for real? Its only April.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:08 PM

TG: or Ladies!

[ Ian ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:08 PM

My apologies. I'll leave it to the GALS.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:09 PM

What fun would a game thread be without Ian? Not very, I say.

[ Meghan ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:09 PM

Hola! I'm around...I can't find my scorebook so I might be writing on here a lot:-P

[ fc ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:10 PM

ecl: Reference to bad standup comics in crummy dives. Or the Catskills.

[ Ian ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:10 PM

I'm actually very busy right now.

I'm waiting for the Rangers to officially activate Jarrod Saltalamacchia so that I may pick him up in my AL only fantasy baseball league that doesn't allow you to pick up guys until they are active.

It's so bad, I ordered my dinner to be delivered even thoguh the place is 1/4 mile down the road.

[ Danielle ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:10 PM

Hey everyone! Hope everyone had a great Friday!

Can I just say living in Orlando (for now), you would think that all 3 games would be on TV, right? Not so much - only Saturday's game :( I don't get to see my fave pitch Sunday...

[ Liza ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:11 PM

I'm here! Sorry to spoil the fun. :)

Am I the only one who's really excited to see Evan Longoria play?

[ Liza ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:11 PM

Aw, that one was far.

[ Lulu ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:11 PM

Erin-Well, apparently they think this is the series where they can *cough* maybe attempt a sweep or win 2 out of 3 and prove they belong with the Sox and Yanks and Jays. Who knows?

Ah, Jacoby.

[ Erin ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:12 PM

Liza- Evan Longoria is on my fantasy team. So I'm happy to see him play tonight.

[ Meghan ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:12 PM

Danielle- Are the Rays playing a series at Disney's Wide World of Sports at all this year?

Ha! First ball to land on the catwalk!

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:12 PM

Meghan - I have a scorebook, too. It's much easier to watch the games when you have something to do!

Ian - I've held onto Salty in two of my leagues since the beginning of the year, with the dreaded "NA" beside his name.

Liza - Not me! Then again, I have that homerun ball bias.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:12 PM

fc: Aha, Borscht Belt lingo...gotcha! I wasn't thinkin'.

[ fc ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:13 PM

Hi Hinske!

[ Danielle ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:13 PM

Got to go out for a bit... see you all in a while

[ Liza ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:13 PM

Hinske! Aw, I've kinda missed the big teddy bear.

[ Liza ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:14 PM

TG - Gaah. I think I've told you about a thousand times already that I'm extremely jealous, but I'll say it again: I AM JEALOUS.

Danielle - Aw, that was bad timing. See you later.

[ Danielle ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:14 PM

Meghan: They just finished one yesterday against the Jays. It was a little earlier this year.

[ Ian ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:14 PM

It's not a Yahoo league so I can't even pick him up that way.

We use a stat service you pay for and we have it set up so you can't pick some one up until he's active on the stat service site.

So I've got windows galore open right now.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:14 PM

Golly, my radio delay seems extra lengthy tonight.

[ Lulu ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:15 PM

Aw, I've missed Hinske too. :) Did he get his ring today?

[ Erin ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:17 PM

Did any one else hear that noise in the background on NESN? Or was it just me?

[ kristina ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:18 PM

hi everyone (waving)....i've missed these the last week, dam sickness, i'd fit right in wouldn't I

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:18 PM

So...tonight instead of wearing one of my player shirts, I'm wearing a shirt that says "Boston Express." It has to do with a club I used to belong to down here...the purpose of the club being to play a particular card game (likely one unfamiliar to non-Southerners). "Running a Boston" was that game's equivalent of hitting a grand slam, so I figured wearing it was worth a try...

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:20 PM

I freakin' HATE Carl Crawford. HAAAAAAATE.

I love Upton and Longoria, though. Hinske as well. And Kazmir.

[ Liza ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:20 PM

Hi Kristina! Feeling better now, I take it, then?

[ fc ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:21 PM

A triple. Eeiiww.

[ Liza ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:21 PM

Holy FUG, Crawford. He's scary good. :(

[ Ian ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:21 PM

Who wins the footrace?

Ellsbury or Crawford

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:22 PM

Crawford is a douche, so I'm giving the edge to Jacoby.

[ Meghan ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:23 PM

So many empty seats :-(

I always forget that Crawford is only 26...he's been up since he was 20 so it seems like he's been around long enough to be at least 30.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:23 PM

I must say, Tampa Bay is one of those teams that I know very little about.

Aw shit. Guess I'm gonna learn about them pretty fast, it looks like.

[ Erin ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:23 PM

Why is Crawford a douche?

[ Liza ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:24 PM

I'm unfortunately very fond of players on AL East teams not called the Yankees--Halladay, Litsch, and Rios from the Jays; Kazmir, Jackson, Crawford, and Longoria from the Rays; and, of course, Millar from the O's.

[ fc ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:24 PM

"YOOOUUK" in Tampa. I love it.

[ Meghan ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:24 PM

Speaking of Kazmir, they expect him to come back May 3rd against us! I want him to do well, but he KILLS the Sox so I'm not thrilled about that.

Lots of "Yooooukkk"s haha.

[ Liza ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:26 PM

Why IS Crawford a douche? So far as I know, he's a pretty good person...

WOW, blondie, go easier on the eye makeup next time. (Sorry, that was bitchy.)

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:26 PM

Liza, of those names, I know who Millar is (obviously), and Rios. That's about it. If I had this game on TV I'd get to know the faces that go with the Rays names, but unfortunately, my next televised game is May 5.

[ Lulu ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:26 PM

Meghan- Don't worry, Kazmir's on my fantasy team. I'll put him on my active roster, basically ensuring that he'll blow up somehow. It always happens to me.

[ Meghan ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:26 PM

Wow, those girls got awful dressed up to go to a baseball game.

[ Erin ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:28 PM

Liza- Don't worry, my mom made a really bitchy comment about those women. Really who dresses like that to a game?

[ Meghan ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:29 PM

Boos from the Tampa side of the crowd? That's certainly new since I left.

Manny!

[ Lulu ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:29 PM

Yay, Manny!

[ fc ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:29 PM

I will not even share with you what I said about those chickees in a side IM chat.
And YAY MANNY.

[ choco ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:29 PM

*wishes she could see the picture of these said girls*

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:29 PM

He (literally) got a guy thrown out of a spring training game. The same game I was sitting in the outfield tiki bar and caught the Longoria HR, these two guys sitting next to me were gently heckling Carl - things like, "You stink!" and "Drop the ball, Carl!" Carl turned around, hollered that one of the guys was a "motherfucker", and flipped him off... while the game was in progress. Carl then went and bitched to security, and told them to have him thrown out. AT A SPRING TRAINING GAME.

Seriously- if a dude can't handle some light heckling in spring training, he'd wilt at CBP or Wrigley.

[ Meghan ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:30 PM

Girls that want to one day be sitting in the player's wives and girlfriends suite:-P

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:31 PM

I can't see "these said girls," but could it be they're groupies and are dressed for success?

[ kristina ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:31 PM

i missed the chicks in whatever they're wearing. yeah Liza, i'm feeling much better, I'm gonna ship my thera flu and a can of lysol to the clubhouse

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:31 PM

Meghan, GMTA!

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:31 PM

As insanely weird as it is to have a live animal tank at a ballpark -- it's still kinda cool.

[ Meghan ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:31 PM

Ahh, the fabled ray tank. I think other MLB teams with animal mascots need to follow suite.

[ Erin ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:33 PM

I'm not to sure if I can post what my mom said about those girls. It was pretty funny though.

[ jules ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:33 PM

Hi All

:: waves ::

I'm soooooooo glad it's Friday. Could the week be any longer?

LOL, I thought the same thing about those two (that's when I first turned on the TV).

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:33 PM

It's a big relief to see JD start off relatively well this year -- I know he's had a bit of trouble the last week or so, but compared to last year? Much better.

[ fc ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:33 PM

We could have a giant sock drawer.

[ choco ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:34 PM

Yeah! That'd be sick... (about the "I think other MLB teams with animal mascots need to follow suite" comment)
What about the Tigers? :)

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:34 PM

Bear cubs at Wrigley!
Tigers in the outfield in Detroit!
Blue Jays flying around the diamond in Toronto!

[ fc ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:34 PM

JD Drew, the Southern Belle of Walks.

[ Erin ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:35 PM

What would the New York teams have?

[ Meghan ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:36 PM

Live tigers would be the shit! And what about the Diamondbacks? Hehe. Or the Cubs! Or the Marlins. I think the rest are just common birds though...not so interesting.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:36 PM

Loudmouth obnoxious drunks?

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:36 PM

jules, my week FLEW by...until around lunchtime today, when it slowed to a torturous c-r-a-w-l. I am SO glad to be home relaxing!

[ fc ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:36 PM

TG I think the Yankees already have that covered.

[ Meghan ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:37 PM

They could put Suzyn Waldman and Woody Allen in a cage and have people go look at them for NYY.

[ Ian ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:37 PM

The Skankees would just have dirty skanks

[ Meghan ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:38 PM

And lucky patrons could pay extra to hear Waldman yell "RAWGAH CLEMENS IS IN GOORGE STEINBRENNA'S BOWX!"

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:39 PM

Well, what about the Mets? What would be in a "Metropolitans" tank?

[ Ian ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:39 PM

I'm calling it right now 6-4-3 DP for Lugo

here's hoping my reverse psychology works

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:39 PM

Don't y'all New England residents realize... ALL OF Y'ALL would be the mascots in the cages, because y'all are ALL Yankees. :)

[ Meghan ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:40 PM

I'm hoping since you called the DP it won't acutually happen...

[ Ian ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:40 PM

As long as they aren't in Suzyn Waldman's BOWX it's all good.

Thanks. I'll be here all night. Don't forget to tip your bartender and waitress.

[ kristina ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:40 PM

how about that gold lamme jacket (probably spelled that wrong)....can anyone else totally see paps walking around in something like that =)

[ Ian ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:41 PM

Texy, u are now a new england resident although you're a rebel in king arthur's court

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:41 PM

Heck, TG, to you even *I* am a Yankee. Of course, I was born in NY.

[ Meghan ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:41 PM

Hells yeah!

[ fc ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:41 PM

WHOA
That was too damn easy.
But I'll take it.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:42 PM

Everyone born north of the Mason Dixon.

Walking in a run in the second? Me likey.

[ fc ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:42 PM

YEAH

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:42 PM

Well, it's better than a GIDP! Sure, I'll take it!

[ Lulu ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:43 PM

Yay for reverse psychology!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:43 PM

I don't trust Jacoby in the clutch.

LOLZ...

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:44 PM

Hah, ecl - that worked for Piney...

[ fc ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:45 PM

YEAH This is more like it.

[ Meghan ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:45 PM

I love Casey but he runs like he's 80 years old.

[ choco ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:45 PM

YAY. :)

[ Ian ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:45 PM

Coco who

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:45 PM

Watching Casey is a little like watching a big ol' grizzly bear try to run the bases.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:45 PM

HELL YEAH!!!!

[ kristina ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:45 PM

yeah Taco....i'm stickin with that nickname, it makes me laugh!!

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:47 PM

Awwww, J.P. - another Texas boy and fellow Longhorn.

[ Bethie ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:47 PM

Hello Peoples!!

Just got my video running. Do these announcers in Florida make it a habit to call players "that guy" instead of saying their name? LOL

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:48 PM

Hiya Bethie!

[ Erin ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:50 PM

Casey is hurt now?

[ Meghan ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:50 PM

Shit, Casey is injured. I feel bad for making fun of him running now:-/

[ fc ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:50 PM

Casey injured? Good thing we have Lowrie - and Mikey's almost back.

[ jules ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:51 PM

Casey injured!!!!!!

noooooooooooooooooooo

[ choco ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:51 PM

Am I the only one who just starts laughing at Evan Longoria's name?

[ Meghan ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:53 PM

At least we have two bench players tonight...on Wednesday, with Youks and Coco both injured, there was NO ONE available on the bench that wasn't a SP:-P

[ kristina ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:53 PM

choco-i was trying to come up with a clever desperate housewives comparrison, but the brains not functioning to well this week

[ Piney61 ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:55 PM

Question: Am I the only one where whose had a good day today? I think so because today was pretty much good. I mean the beginning kinda sucked(stress + TV Production class = running around like a chicken w/ my head cut off) but it all worked out in the end :D

[ Meghan ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:56 PM

Bah. Not good.

[ Liza ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:58 PM

Hi again. Had to eat.

Wakefield's control isn't looking good at all... but then again, Garza's was much worse.

[ Meghan ] says:
on April 25, 2008 7:58 PM

Piney- I had a good day today...my class ended early plus all of my lab stuff worked out, which is rare. And I had some delicious mexican food for lunch. It'd be better if this were a home game but that's alright:-D

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:00 PM

Piney, I had a decent day. I woke up in a good mood and although I got a little bit bored as the afternoon wore on, it was a reasonably good end of the work week.

[ Meghan ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:00 PM

Tampa's field reminds me of crushed velvet. NOT a good thing.

[ Erin ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:00 PM

I had a good day also. The weather was nice, so between my classes I sat by the pond on campus and watched the ducks.

[ Bethie ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:00 PM

I had a GREAT day today!!

Course, I'm leaving for a 5 day vegas trip on Sunday, so that might have something to do with it. :)

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:00 PM

Ah...food...good idea. I'm sort of grazing tonight. Time to put together the next snack...

[ fc ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:01 PM

This looks eerily familiar.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:01 PM

Erin, that sounds so bucolic...a pond and ducks and sitting outside...

Shit...what's going on here?

[ choco ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:02 PM

kristina- yeah I can't think of anything either. it's just so funny, though!!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:02 PM

Bethie -- Vegas, how exciting! :-)

[ Meghan ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:03 PM

Nice Jacoby. I do wish your magic sleeve would make you throw a bit further, but it's alright.

Whew. That ended as well as it could have.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:04 PM

Phew (wiping forehead)...

[ fc ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:04 PM

THAT was a pretty play.

[ Bethie ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:04 PM

Well....the bottom of that inning was just about ugly....

[ Ian ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:05 PM

And whomever asked, Hinske got his ring before the game. The Red Sox players surprised him and gave it to him

[ Erin ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:06 PM

ecl- I've been going to that pond ever since I was little. It makes me feel happy for some reason.
The baby ducks are going to hatch soon and I can't wait! Although I shouldn't get attached to some because there are two snapping turtles in the pond and rumor as it, that a few years ago one of them ate a baby duck.

[ Meghan ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:06 PM

Hip flexor strain for Casey. DTD now.

[ Liza ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:07 PM

Casey's day-to-day with a right hip flexor strain.

[ Meghan ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:08 PM

At my school (USF in Tampa! Go Bulls!) there was a pond that had ducks sometimes...but it also had alligators, so a lot of the ducks had a not-so-happy fate.

[ Liza ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:09 PM

That would've been really hard to field... as much as I love Longoria, I like it that he didn't get it.

[ Ian ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:09 PM

Good party school USF :D

[ kristina ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:09 PM

evan apparently doesn't handle balls quite like gabby...ok that was bad, but give me a break, i finally broke a four day fever

[ Erin ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:10 PM

Meghan- That reminds me of a scene from the movie Madagascar.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:10 PM

Erin, I remember some ponds of choice from when I was growing up. Such sweet places.

I've only been up close and personal with a snapping turtle once, when I lived out in the country some years ago, and I'm glad I figured out what it was before I picked it up to move it out of the driveway, LOL! I did pick it up...by the back of its shell...and tossed it into the pond!

[ Ian ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:12 PM

Can someone tell ROTOWORLD that the Rangers game has started and that Saltalamacchia has been activated so I can pick him up.

[ choco ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:13 PM

Hahaha!! That was good, Kristina. I actually don't follow Desperate Housewives, but I assumed Gabby was Eva's character (and I checked IMDb, too...)

[ Liza ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:14 PM

BJ Upton has a pretty swing.

[ fc ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:15 PM

YEAH! GO CASH.

[ Liza ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:16 PM

Someone's having control issues...

Oh, he was safe.

[ Erin ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:16 PM

ecl-I've seen the turtle a few times. The second time I saw it, it freaked me out because it just splashed around.

I just love the ducks because they're so cute. My Sister is at the pond sometimes with her kids feeding the ducks. My niece has names for most of the ducks and its really cute.

That call was close

[ kristina ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:16 PM

Cash was MONEY right there....apparently I'm full of them tonight

[ Ian ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:16 PM

Rob Drake likes to get his drink on. Drank with him when he came through the Eastern League.

[ Liza ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:17 PM

WHOA. Was that Longoria whose at-bat song is "Yeah"?

[ Meghan ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:17 PM

Cashie!

He was safe though....but the Sox have had a lot of similar wrong calls lately so it works out.

[ Ian ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:19 PM

If Eva divorces Tony Parker and then marries Evan Longoria, she wouldn't have to change her last name.

or she could be Eva Longoria-Longoria.

[ Meghan ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:19 PM

The rate this is going at, we will be lucky to get 5 IP from Wake...yikes. Poor bullpen.

[ njdevils ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:19 PM

Hey, everybody! I'll only be here for a few minutes, but I figured I'd say hi!

I didn't realize the Rays hated us this much.
I do like this one, though!
(Look at the front and back of them.)

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:19 PM

Erin, when I was a little kid we would visit my grandparents on eastern L.I., and there was a "nature trail" that wound alongside a little creek where there were all sorts of fish and ducks. It used to be a regular stop on our "visit the grandparents" trips, and I loved feeding the cute duckies too!

When I picked up the snapping turtle that time, it moved its neck back and forth and really did snap wildly. I was never so glad to get it out of my hands!

[ Liza ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:19 PM

Ian - The name Eva Longoria-Longoria kind of cracks me up.

[ njdevils ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:22 PM

Liza- It's more than a little late, but to answer your question way up at the top, I think Evan's awesome, too!

[ Liza ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:22 PM

Meghan - And Wake's historically a Ray-basher...

Devils - I do like the second one. Especially the back.

[ Meghan ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:22 PM

Well, technically she is already Eva Longoria-Christopher-Parker. So she could become Eva Longoria-Christopher-Parker-Longoria (and I can't believe I just took the time to look that up).

[ fc ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:23 PM

This is NOT looking good.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:23 PM

Dammit...

[ Liza ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:23 PM

There must be something in the air. That knuckler looks like it'd be impossible to catch.

[ Liza ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:24 PM

And just as I say it, WaKefield emerges.

[ fc ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:24 PM

Phew. Not great but could've been worse.

[ Abby ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:24 PM

WaKefield!

Hi gang. What's up?

[ Liza ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:25 PM

Hey Abby :)

[ Meghan ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:26 PM

Wake at 71 pitches. That K was nice though. Now all we need is for Tampa to swing at the first pitch each AB for the next five innings and fly-out each time, and then we can get 8 IP from Wakey! Simple, right?

[ Liza ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:27 PM

Lowrie has a really nice stance.

[ kristina ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:27 PM

what Wake needs is a hemp necklace....didn't he get the memo

[ fc ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:28 PM

Liza I was expecting a different word at the end of that sentence. ;)

[ Abby ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:28 PM

I don't like it when they say something like "Casey has left the game with a hip flexor." It sounds ridiculous. Everyone has hip flexors, not just Sean Casey.

[ Liza ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:30 PM

Haha. There are actually many words that could go onto the end of that sentence that would fit...

Yeah, Cashie!

[ Liza ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:30 PM

Wow. I thought that one a hit for sure.

[ Bethie ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:31 PM

Okay, that WAS a pretty catch.

Rays still suck, but nice catch!

[ Meghan ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:31 PM

Great catch by Upton. Boo for us though.

[ choco ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:31 PM

My mom's yelling at Garza for spitting so much. It's entertaining...

[ choco ] says:

My mom's yelling at Garza for spitting so much. It's entertaining...

[ kristina ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:32 PM

dam Upton...ok that was a nice catch, it's hard for me to give credit to the other team

[ choco ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:33 PM

Ah, sorry for posting twice.

[ Ian ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:33 PM

Thurston's back with the PawSox

[ Ian ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:34 PM

And Lowell's 1-for-3 with 2 RBI plus Van Every has a solo home run

[ Liza ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:34 PM

JT's cleared waivers, then?

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:34 PM

He was one of the breakout stars of spring training, I think.

[ Ian ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:35 PM

Yes Thurston cleared and the Red Sox outrighted him to Pawtucket today.

[ Liza ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:36 PM

Good. Pawtucket's thin on middle IFs right now, what with Jed with the big club and Natale out for the time being.

Ugh. C'mon, Wakey. ONE MORE OUT.

[ Meghan ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:37 PM

Wow, I really thought the Jays would pick up Thurston to be their DH since they released Thomas. Shows what I know!

And tie game...

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:37 PM

I don't like this Crawford guy.

[ Ian ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:39 PM

Why would the Jays pick him up to DH when Thurston was 0 for the season in the big leagues.

Thurston's a good utilty guy to have around since he can play basically anywhere but he's no full time DH.

[ Meghan ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:40 PM

I was just joking:-P I know there is no way hell a team would pick him up as their DH haha. Unless they really value the infield pop-up.

[ Ian ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:40 PM

FUCKIN E-6

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:41 PM

A friend of mine is at the game - here's a photo he just sent me of the rays tank in the outfield.

[ Ian ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:41 PM

Sorry Meghan hard to tell when you're joking online.

[ Liza ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:41 PM

I like Crawford... when he's not playing against us.

FUG, LUGO.

Good, Drew.

[ Bethie ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:41 PM

I wish MLBtv gave us the option to pick which station we wanted to watch. These announcers are almost making me wish I could listen to Joe Morgan.

Almost.

Crappus Maximus. Rays take the lead. Hey...Error #7. Yippee Lugo.

[ Ian ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:41 PM

That's sweet Texy. Did he go up to the catwalk to get Pedroia's foul ball

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:41 PM

ecl - join the Crawford Hate Train... it's fun!

[ Meghan ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:42 PM

Ugh Lugo. Please get injured as soon as Lowell gets back, okay?

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:42 PM

TG, that is a VERY cool picture!

[ Ian ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:42 PM

I don't believe it. It's Jim Fucking Rice

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:43 PM

PLEATS IN CLEATS!

These announcers are almost making me wish I could listen to Joe Morgan.
You take that back! :)

Ian - I requested he tell the Rays to quit hitting the ball.

[ fc ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:43 PM

Ian, right on cue.

[ Liza ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:43 PM

TG - I did see what you said about Crawford's douchiness earlier (had to eat dinner, so I didn't reply at the time) but that is majorly idiotic. I still like him as a player, though. Also, cool picture.

Bye-bye Pleats!

[ Lindsay ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:44 PM

Lugo, Lugo, Lugo...

if that run costs us the game, i'm gonna flip out!!

aww, Dusty's having a tough night =( i hope he gets a hit cus he has a big hitting streak going on right now.

u see that blown up mascot?! lmaoo!!!

[ Liza ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:44 PM

OH MY GOD. THAT IS AN AMAZING MASCOT.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:45 PM

Well, there's probably nothing wrong with Crawford per se...unless it's at our expense.

[ Liza ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:45 PM

Whoa. Papi. Que pasa.

[ Bethie ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:45 PM

You guys that have NESN are lucky. Rem Dawg may have a moment every now and then, but these FSN guys....jeez.
They are making my head hurt. LOL

[ Erin ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:46 PM

Why are they hurting your head Bethie?

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:47 PM

I wanna see the mascot I wanna see the mascot!

C'mon Manny...

[ Liza ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:47 PM

Manny!

[ Lindsay ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:47 PM

3 for 3 Manny! woo hoo!!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:47 PM

Awww Bethie...FSN. Yuck. Amateur hour.

[ fc ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:48 PM

MANNY YEAH YEAH YEAH

[ Meghan ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:48 PM

Manny!

Also, Pettitte just gave up back-to-back HR's to give Cleveland a 5-3 lead.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:49 PM

He just amazes me. And the box says his BA is now .378. Holy moly...

[ Lindsay ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:49 PM

Its all good Youk, you'll get em' next time!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:50 PM

Pettite's back to back give-ups negate Giambi's 2 HR that I heard about a little earlier.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:51 PM

Hey Bethie, is that MLB.tv or is FSN showing the game down here?

[ Liza ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:51 PM

Pedroia's hitting .340, Manny .378, Youk .333, Casey .346, Lowrie .333, and even Lugo's hitting .317. We have some seriously hot hitters on this team.

[ Ian ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:51 PM

I think I'm obligated to say that fc everytime the commercial comes on.

Have y'all not seen blow up mascots before?

If you haven't and live near a minor league ballpark, you need to go see these guys. They are a freaking blast.

Zooperstars

I know the guys who started them uo. They used to do Billy the Bird.

[ Bethie ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:52 PM

I've heard theym say at least 3 times when someone on the sox is at bat they will say "this guy has a full count", instead of "Ellsbury has a full count". Hey jackass, I know you have a roster sheet in the booth. If all else fails, their names are on their uniforms.

And I especially love the little montage they had about Papi cussing at his bat when it shattered. that was soooooooo entertaining.

Maybe I'm just being especially bitchy. I've gotten used to NESN broadcasts over the last week, and it's a night and day difference.

[ Liza ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:53 PM

Huh. I haven't. Can we get a blow-up Wally?

If Wake gets through five, I'll be happy. (knock on wood)

[ Lindsay ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:54 PM

All the complaining abt the announcers-- is that abt the announcers on MLBtv? Or Don and Jerry? I'm a little lost! hehe.

[ fc ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:54 PM

Ian: and even sometimes when it doesn't.
A practice I'm adopting btw - I'm not too proud to steal a good schtick when I see one.

[ Lindsay ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:55 PM

1-2-3 inning! thank god!

[ fc ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:55 PM

OK people, THAT'S how we do it.

[ Meghan ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:55 PM

C'mon Wakey.

Jul-EEEEEEE-o Lugo is now the league leader in errors! Fun!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:55 PM

I didn't hear about Papi "cussing at" his bat. The audio I'm listening to (WRKO) talked about him looking lovingly at the bat for several seconds before tossing it away, and speculated about it being a favorite of his.

[ Bethie ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:55 PM

ecl-- It's FSN on MLBtv. Usually you have the station that broadcasts the home team. Wish they would let us choose, cause I know it's on NESN tonight.

These guys should be the poster children for saying no to speed.

[ Bethie ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:56 PM

[ kristina ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:56 PM

now that inning was more like it...ok time for some runs now

[ Bethie ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:57 PM

And now I'm double posting. LOL

Sorry guys, just tell me to shut up and watch the ballgame. :)

[ Lindsay ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:57 PM

Abt the mascot-- They showed a blownup TB mascott (on NESN), and it fell over and then started to stand/walk on it's head...it was hilarious! haha.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:57 PM

If they let you choose your TV feed on MLB.TV/Extra Innings like they do the radio feeds, that would RULE.

Also: JP!!!!!!!!

[ fc ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:58 PM

Bethie: shut up and watch the ballgame.
I don't believe it - it's Jim Rice.

[ Lindsay ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:58 PM

How-will JD Drew do against Howell? lmaoo, dont ask! i just thought of that...lm

[ Bethie ] says:

thank you fc! :)

[ Liza ] says:

Nice one by Drew :)

[ Meghan ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:59 PM

The TB's mascot's name is Raymond, k people? Show a little respect! (Get it? RAY-mond? Hahahaha! Almost as clever as WALL-y!)

(please sense the sarcasm:-P)

[ Bethie ] says:
on April 25, 2008 8:59 PM

YAY JD!

Now, go get dirty! :)

[ Lindsay ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:00 PM

lets go Cleveland lets go!! ::clap clap clap:: lol. (it was Cleveland, right? lol)

As all true Sox fans should say-- I vote for 2 teams-- the Red Sox, and whoever beats the Yankees ;)

[ Liza ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:00 PM

YES, Lowrie! How great is he?

[ Erin ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:00 PM

Is that noise that Tampa Bay has when the Sox are at bat annoying any one else?

Yay Jed!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:00 PM

Bethie -- ah, thanks. I just ran over to my TV to see if FSN was showing the game and it hadn't been listed. No MLB games on our cable tonight whatsoever, it turns out.

The poster children for saying no to speed, LOL. That reminds me of what I've heard about "Mad Dog" on WFAN in New York...that he sounds like Donald Duck on steroids! Interestingly, "Mad Dog" and I grew up in the same time and we knew each other as teenagers. Strange but true. Haven't seen him since he was about 15, and haven't tuned in to an audiostream to hear what he sounds like now. By his pictures, though, he's very recognizable.

[ Lindsay ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:01 PM

Come on Lugo!! make up for that error!!

[ Meghan ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:02 PM

Erin- If you think the noise tonight is annoying, just wait until tomorrow...when it's Cowbell night at the Trop. And every Tampa fan will have a cowbell. So annoying. Worst promo EVER!

[ Bethie ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:03 PM

I say for every error Julio commits, that's one day during the off season he has to hunt with Beckett. Maybe then he'll stop being error-full. :)

Cause Lugo doesn't strike me as the "stand around in the woods and shoot stuff" type.

[ Lindsay ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:03 PM

Alright Lugo, I guess its better then nothing...

[ Meghan ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:04 PM

Hehe Remy just said "Well the ball not hit hard enough for a DP," as if that's what Lugo was trying to do.

[ Liza ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:04 PM

Yeah!

Well, E6, if that was a moment quicker we'd be mad at you.

Meghan - Cowbell night? Are you serious? And it's Buchholz vs Jackson! I like Jackson! Wtf?

(I'm trying to think of a "LESS COWBELL" joke...)

[ kristina ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:05 PM

ok Lugo, that kinda makes up for the error. Bethie-that is a hilarious image in my head right now, I'd be afraid from Julio alone in the woods with Josh and his guns

[ Erin ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:05 PM

Cowbell night? God lord. I guess it won't be that bad since there will only be like 20 Tampa fans

Yay Cash!

[ Lindsay ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:05 PM

Cash is having a great night!

lets go Jacoby!! Do it for me baby! ♥ hehe.

[ Erin ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:05 PM

Opps I meant Good.

[ fc ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:05 PM

GO COBY

[ Bethie ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:06 PM

kristina- Julio should be afraid too. Be very afraid.

Cowbells?? Seriously?? That's almost as gay as giving everyone a towel to twirl. Hmmmm.

[ Liza ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:06 PM

Cash is not doing badly tonight. This is promising.

C'mon, Jacoby...

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:06 PM

Bethie - LOL! Only if he can stand around in the woods looking all Rico Suave!

[ Lindsay ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:06 PM

I love how Jacoby nods his head whenever he watches a strike ♥

Its all good Jacoby, i still love you!!

[ Ian ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:07 PM

Pleats is going for the golden sombrero of fouling out tonight.

[ Lindsay ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:08 PM

Is it just me, or does Cash always look like he doesnt want to be playing the game? I mean i like Cash n' all, but he always looks like he just doesnt want to be there. Maybe hes just tired from catching so much? But idk, i've just noticed it lately.

Come on Pleats!!!

[ Bethie ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:08 PM

I like Cash a lot, so I'm glad he's having a good night at bat. Cause behind the plate he's made me kinda nervous the past few days. Someone needs to remind him where second base is, :)

[ Liza ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:08 PM

C'mon, Pleatsie...

[ Erin ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:09 PM

Damn

[ Liza ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:09 PM

Another crazy left-center catch? Ugh.

[ fc ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:09 PM

ROBBED OF ANOTHER HIT

[ Ian ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:09 PM

This is how the Rays get on SportsCenter. They make nice diving catches. Otherwise no one cares.

[ Lindsay ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:09 PM

Jacoby and Dustin being shut down on stupid diving outfielders tonight!! grr

[ kristina ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:09 PM

ok Tex, i'm gonna join the I Hate Crawford Club

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:09 PM

@#$%^&*&#

[ Liza ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:09 PM

Does anyone else get pissed off by the Southwest "SOLID GOLD!" commercial?

[ Bethie ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:09 PM

Good Lord! What did these guys have in their wheaties this morning?

[ Lindsay ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:10 PM

But Dusty needs a hit! he cant break his hitting streak like Lugo did yesterday!!

[ Lindsay ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:10 PM

lmfaoooooo Bethie!!!!

[ Bethie ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:11 PM

Yep....top 10 plays. Over and over on sports center tonight.

nuh nuh nuh.....nuh nuh nuh

Has anyone heard when Tek might be coming back?

[ Liza ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:11 PM

Good, Wake. One-pitch outs are good.

[ Lindsay ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:11 PM

I cant wait until i get my laptop tomorrow! I have an HD 60 in. tv up in my living room with surround sound, but i wanted to talk to u guys-- and my computers in the basement =/

but its all good. =P

[ Liza ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:12 PM

Bethie - Probably tomorrow. He'll most likely be catching Buch.

[ Ian ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:12 PM

Tek will probably be back in the lineup tomorrow night.

If not Cash might die from catching so much.

[ Lindsay ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:12 PM

I love how the people can just sit literally RIGHT behing the pitchers in the bullpen. Knowing me, i'd be like rubbing Pap's back or something! haha.

[ Bethie ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:13 PM

Oh yay! I've missed him. :) I just get more of a sense of assurance with him behind the plate. Like there's no way we can lose if he's there.

Hey, he's superman! :)

[ Ian ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:13 PM

Cash is used to catching once a week maybe twice. 7 straight starts for him now.

[ Meghan ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:14 PM

Holy shit at the Clamens video. I laughed way too much at that haha.

Once on cowbell night in TB, during a game against the Sox (I think it was catcher Javy Lopez's debut actually in Sept '06), a bunch of Yankee fans were sitting behind me with the fucking cowbells. They got up to go to the restroom and stupidly left their cowbells behind, so I took all of them and threw them away:-P

[ Lindsay ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:14 PM

Yeah, they said that Tek is basically ready to go, so we might even see him tonight once Wake leaves the game. But then again, maybe not cus Cash is having a good night. But if not tonight, I'm sure we'll be seeing him catching tomorrow.

[ Ian ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:14 PM

The plane ride last night was segregated.

Sickies in the back of the plane. healthy in the front.

[ Lindsay ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:15 PM

Yeah, Teks and amazing pitcher. If it wasnt for Schilng shaking him off at his almost no-hitter, Tek would have caught 2 no hitters, but Shil just didnt wanna listen; and look what happened...

[ Ian ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:15 PM

I went to the Trop for hockey way back when the Lightning played there and also sat at the top of that place for a Billy Joel concert.

[ Liza ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:16 PM

Good, Jacoby. Help out the starter.

[ Meghan ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:16 PM

Woohoo! 6 IP for Wakey! 113 pitches, but that should help the bullpen out a bit.

[ Lindsay ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:16 PM

Yeah, Teks and amazing catcher. If it wasnt for Schilng shaking him off at his almost no-hitter, Tek would have caught 2 no hitters, but Shil just didnt wanna listen; and look what happened...

[ fc ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:17 PM

Lindsay, see the 4/23 thread for mhcramberry behind-the-bullpen story. She even got to see Pap do his pause at the gate before running out onto the field.

[ Lindsay ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:17 PM

Well, 2 no hitters last season...i'm not rly sure if he's caught others.

[ Liza ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:18 PM

Hey TG, it's JP again.

Three no-hitters have been thrown by Boston Red Sox pitchers since 1965, and Jason Varitek has caught all of them: Buchholz, Derek Lowe (April 27, 2002 against Tampa Bay) and Hideo Nomo (April 4, 2001 against Baltimore). Varitek now shares the Major League record for catching no-hitters. Eleven others have done it, including Bill Carrigan, who caught three for the Red Sox, from 1911-1916. Hall of Famer Ray Schalk holds the record though, catching four no-hitters. Schalk played all but one of his 18 seasons with the Chicago White Sox before retiring in 1929.

That was from his WIKI. I'm not that smart. I did know it was 3 though :D

Two warning track fly outs in a row?

[ Meghan ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:20 PM

Schill had actually shaken Tek off a few times before in that game. A lot of almost no-no's are lost in the ninth. And Tek has caught three in his career- Buch, Lowe and Nomo.

[ Lindsay ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:21 PM

Yeah, like i had seats at Fenway where i was 1st row right behind the bullpen, and i saw Paps warming up and leaning on the wall, but i wasnt close enough to touch him =(

[ Ian ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:21 PM

Meghan are there still good parties at USF. I used to love to make that drive from Lakeland to party with the Sig Eps.

Ian- There are some, but I think it's died down a bit from 5-6 years ago. I graduated last spring and didn't frequent many my last year there...mostly because I was 21 then and could go out and legally drink haha.

Are Corey's teeth fake?? Or are they just naturally too big for his mouth? (Serious question..lol)

That's what I was going for fc but drew a blank.

[ Danielle ] says:

[ Lindsay ] says:

LINDSAY'S A PINK HAT

no i'm not! lol.

[ Meghan ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:27 PM

Lindsey- the first one BY FAR. Pink and baseball are only allowed to mesh on Mother's Day, and, even then, only because it is for charity.

[ Erin ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:28 PM

My mom is calling me a pink hat because if my slight obsession with David Wright.

[ Ian ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:28 PM

If you weren't a pink hat, you would have never shown us the pink one. :D

[ Liza ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:28 PM

It IS Longoria with "Yeah" for his at-bat song. Huh. That's almost as puzzling as skinny little white boy Huston Street* having "Hate Me Now" by Nas as his entry song...

*I love him anyway.

[ Lindsay ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:29 PM

lol. yeah i was thinking abt going with the 1st 1.

[ Ian ] says:

Raymond's about to do something to the Wally doll

[ Meghan ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:30 PM

I loved Guavaween. And Gasparilla. This was my first year missing them since high school and I was kind of sad...but living in Boston year-round now easily makes up for that.

[ Lindsay ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:30 PM

I showed it because those are the only 3 that are offered on the website, and i just wanted to see which 1 you would all choose.

[ Erin ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:30 PM

The only ones who can wear pink hats are 5 year old girls.

Has anyone ever seen that eharmony commercial where the girl is talking about her first date and how she got a pink hat from him? I hate that commercial

[ Ian ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:31 PM

Ahh yes Gaparilla another fun time. I miss those days.

[ Liza ] says:

I can't wait to hear the stories given now about pink hats.

[ ecl1958 ] says:

Lindsay, definitely the first one.

[ Liza ] says:

That was a funny swing by JD...

[ fc ] says:

I'm gonna let someone else field the "pink hat" question. I don't trust myself.

[ Lindsay ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:35 PM

K, thanks. =)

Because i will admit, i am not one that necessarily likes the pink Sox stuff because it is not the official colors. But i'm not gonna lie, i do have like 4 pink Red Sox items. but none of them are pink hats! lmao.

[ Ian ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:37 PM

Here's a funny rant about pink hats from the Basegirl blog.

http://basegirl.blogspot.com/2004/12/cease-and-desist-pink-hats-have-got-to.html

[ Liza ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:37 PM

Lindsay, I think most of us dislike pink Red Sox apparel in general, as well as the types who tend to wear them.

[ Ian ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:37 PM

Come on fc. Tell us PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

[ choco ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:38 PM

my mom got me a pink Ortiz shirt for Christmas one year. part of the money went for breast cancer or something. I don't like it though because it's this really light pink and the writing is white, so it's pretty much the most retarded design because you can't even really see it.

[ njdevils ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:38 PM

I hate the color pink in general...

[ Meghan ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:38 PM

No offense meant by this, but pink hats (or other merchandise) are generally viewed as being indicative of a fair-weather, uneducated (in baseball at least) fan. And/or an obsessive fan girl that thinks a baseball team is NSync.

[ Lindsay ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:39 PM

Yeah, i do tend to dislike the types that wear them-- like the girly girls that get them just because "theyre cute" and have no idea who the Red Sox actually are. But idk...

[ fc ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:39 PM

No, no - stop me before I OPENLY RIDICULE.

[ Ian ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:40 PM

Lowell went 1-for-5 with 2 RBIs in the PawSox game they are about to win.

[ Erin ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:40 PM

My friend doesn't understand why I hate pink hats.

[ Ian ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:41 PM

No fc let it all out. I wanna hear this PLEASEEEEEEEEE. Do it for our hometown.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:41 PM

Ian, great rant and so true!

[ Bethie ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:41 PM

Preach on it.

[ Meghan ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:42 PM

Come on FC! We will all support you!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:42 PM

I mean, when your team rocks a a great power color like red...why would you even want to wear pink?

[ fc ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:43 PM

But she's (must be) so young, so innocent....

BTW, I also happen to agree with this.

[ choco ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:43 PM

What are people's thoughts on Corey? I like him because we share one of the coolest birthdays ever (it really is awesome and I can rant if you want...)

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:43 PM

C'mon fc, I wanna hear this too!

[ Liza ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:43 PM

I personally cannot stand pink hat wearing types who only go to games or care about a certain team to see their handful of particular favorites. I can get behind having favorites; I can get behind wanting to see them; I can't get behind "following" a team just to see how one particular player does.

I also don't like the pink merchandise, and Kristen (from the blog Ian linked above) explains why as well as anyone could.

[ choco ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:44 PM

I definitely agree with ecl. RED IS AWESOME.

[ Ian ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:44 PM

There are plenty of camo hats, green hats, blue hats and many, many alternate hats that penised folks wear, yet you never hear anyone bitch about those.

Ya gotta love CYN

[ Lindsay ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:45 PM

lol...alright, i just wanted to hear others opinions, and i have...

but what abt the green St. Patty Red Sox gear?? what are your opinions on that?

[ Ian ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:45 PM

Good way for Corey to bounce back. Get out of the inning with a line out DP.

[ Lindsay ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:45 PM

Who must be so young? me??

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:46 PM

Choco, it's pure coincidence that for quite a few years red has been a staple of my wardrobe. Now that I've (unexpectedly) found myself a Sox fan, it's very easy to represent my team because I have so much red in my closet.

[ Liza ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:46 PM

Another thing I can't stand: the MLB.com online shop has lots of "Men's Fashion" items, but the only "Women's Fashion" items are Alyssa Milano's. "Men's Jerseys" have the players' names on them, but "Women's Jerseys" can only be personalized. And there's just so much sexism in the items they sell in general...

[ Ian ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:46 PM

My opinion is the green hats are ok only to wear on St. Patty's Day but only if the team where's them.

Other than that, if you're going to buy a hat, get the official one. The others are just a way for them to make money.

[ Liza ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:47 PM

The St Patty's Day stuff is one day a year. And the team actually wears green gear on that day. The pink gear just seems to be condescending to women.

[ Ian ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:48 PM

Come on fc, the disciples are anxiously awaiting your rant.

[ Lindsay ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:48 PM

Yeah, I agree with the The Ultimate “Pink Hat” article.

[ njdevils ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:48 PM

I agree, Liza. Half of the stuff they have in the women's MLB shop have frills, glitter, sparkles, or pink--all of which I absolutely hate.

[ Ian ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:48 PM

Nice grammar dumbass Ian.

its wears not where's.

[ Lindsay ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:49 PM

So you dislike when people where the St Patty's gear on a regular basis?

[ choco ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:49 PM

I want to hear it too, fc. :)

[ Lindsay ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:49 PM

Cash, Cash, Cash!! Yay!!

[ Ian ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:49 PM

Coco pinch run??

[ Erin ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:50 PM

Liza- that annoys me so much. I would never by the womens items, but the mens ones would be big on me because I am a petite person.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:50 PM

Liza, I totally agree about the discrepancies in items available. So far all my MLB gear is from the men's department. I did order one from the women's department and the way it was cut, I simply couldn't wear it. Looked horrible, and the fabric was incredibly flimsy.

Lindsay: I personally have no problem with the green St. Paddy's stuff, but green is one of my least favorite colors, so it won't be gracing my closet anytime soon.

[ Erin ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:50 PM

I meant buy.

(why can't I type tonight?)

[ Ian ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:50 PM

I'm guessing Tek isn't ready yet if they didn't pinch run for Cash there.

[ Liza ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:51 PM

Aw, Longoria. (Thank you.)

Devils - YES. I cannot stand frills, glitter, sparkles, or RHINESTONES. Ugh. I really, really hate rhinestones. Maybe that's just me, but they piss me off. It's like... pseudo-bling.

For example, can't they make this same item in a different cut made for boobs and hips? I'd buy one in a minute! They don't have to make it pink too!

[ njdevils ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:52 PM

Erin, that's why I buy all my stuff from the Kid's section of the MLB shop. The kid's Larges and XLs are pretty close to a women's smalls but they are the same styles as the Men's, so it works out pretty well. (And the kid's stuff is usually a few dollars cheaper, too!)

[ Lindsay ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:52 PM

Yeah, thats probably the case Ian. Unless Crisp is gonna suprise us and tell us that he can catch, just like Dusty did to us the other day! lol.

[ Meghan ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:53 PM

Come on Pedro.

[ Liza ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:53 PM

Okay, Pleatsie...

Is that a "Yankees suck!" chant I hear in the background?

[ Lindsay ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:53 PM

Come on Dusty!! 13 game hitting streak on the line! you can do it!

[ fc ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:54 PM

I DON'T BELIEVE IT - IT'S JIM RICE.

[ Meghan ] says:
on April 25, 2008 9:54 PM

Yeah, the Yankees suck chants are common there...its one thing that TB and Boston fans can agree on.
