Hey all! Last Nights loss sucked big time. Hopefully the offense will be much better today.

Hiya! Yeah, I hope the bats wake up.

[ Liza ] says:

[ Liza ] says:
on April 27, 2008 1:46 PM

Do they still have cowbells or something?

[ 1863_project ] says:
on April 27, 2008 1:46 PM

Aaah, sorry I'm a bit late! I found the best song ever. Synergy, synergy!

[ kristina ] says:

no more cowbells.....dam double plays

[ fc ] says:
on April 27, 2008 1:47 PM

Aw, I thought we might get something going there.

[ 1863_project ] says:
on April 27, 2008 1:47 PM

Damnit...

[ Erin ] says:
on April 27, 2008 1:48 PM

Why do I get the feeling that Rays fans are going to be really annoying this year? I mean cowbells?

[ Liza ] says:
on April 27, 2008 1:49 PM

Oh, Josh... I love watching him pitch.

[ Lindsay ] says:
on April 27, 2008 1:50 PM

Heyyy.

BecKett

[ kristina ] says:
on April 27, 2008 1:50 PM

[ Ian ] says:
on April 27, 2008 1:50 PM

That strikeout was a lesson from Beckett to Clay. Just throw fastballs to Aki

[ Liza ] says:

BecKett

[ Lindsay ] says:
on April 27, 2008 1:51 PM

Oh, Josh, that's why we love you. You do that.

[ ecl1958 ] says:

So nice to "see" Josh back in action.

[ jules ] says:
on April 27, 2008 1:51 PM

Hi All!

BecKett!

What crappy game last night. Buchholz did a great job, tho.

The hubby is in the garage building a cabinet, the kidlet is still sleeping (had a midnight service last night), and I'm relaxing watching the game. Perfect!

[ 1863_project ] says:
on April 27, 2008 1:52 PM

This is pretty much why we need him. Yeah.

[ Ian ] says:
on April 27, 2008 1:52 PM

I'll be here sporadically today. I've got to handle all of the posting on my blog today since my partner in crime Steve is working.

It's almost 2 Pm and I have 10 posts done because of the Red Sox, UConn Huskies and Patriots.

[ Lindsay ] says:
on April 27, 2008 1:53 PM

I love Josh. hes so serious, and he doesnt want to mess around. If the team needs good pitching, they'll give it to him, end of discussion. Thats what i love abt him.

[ Liza ] says:
on April 27, 2008 1:53 PM

That's some marathon blogging.

[ Liza ] says:
on April 27, 2008 1:53 PM

BecKKKett!!!!!!

on April 27, 2008 1:54 PM

It's a K day I see

[ 1863_project ] says:
on April 27, 2008 1:54 PM

I'll be disappearing around three due to school obligations. But school's very important, so it's not something I can blow off...

[ kristina ] says:
on April 27, 2008 1:54 PM

BecKKKett
oh Josh...how we missed you!!

[ 1863_project ] says:
on April 27, 2008 1:54 PM

...hot damn, Josh. Nice.

[ fc ] says:
on April 27, 2008 1:55 PM

Did I just hear Don say that Youk has the longest errorless streak at ANY position?

[ Ian ] says:
on April 27, 2008 1:55 PM

It is Liza but that's one of the bad things about a being a multiteam blog. especially when my two teams i cover are the Sox and UConn. Steve does the Pats and Celts but he's working so I get to do it all

[ jules ] says:
on April 27, 2008 1:55 PM

BecKKKett!

The Baby Sox need to pick up on his intensity. Just awesome.

[ 1863_project ] says:
on April 27, 2008 1:56 PM

He did break the record last night (I was thinking of you!), although I'm not sure if it's the longest record anywhere...it could be, though, and it wouldn't surprise me if it was...

[ Ian ] says:
on April 27, 2008 1:56 PM

I thought he said first base.

[ Meghan ] says:
on April 27, 2008 1:56 PM

I lived in Ware, MA when I was little...it's pronounced just like "where" so when people would go "Where do you live?" and I'd answer "Ware" they would be like "No WHERE do you live?" It kinda sucked:-P

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 27, 2008 1:56 PM

Okay Manuel, awaken thy bat!

[ Ian ] says:
on April 27, 2008 1:57 PM

Ware did you live Meghan? :D

[ fc ] says:
on April 27, 2008 1:58 PM

OK, I knew about the record at first, wasn't listening closely, wanted to check what I heard.

[ Meghan ] says:
on April 27, 2008 1:58 PM

Anyone else pissed about the shot clock bullshit during the C's game yesterday? And the refs just sucking all-around?

Last night was bad for pro-sports officiating:-(

[ Lindsay ] says:
on April 27, 2008 1:59 PM

FC-- he said at any ONE position.

[ 1863_project ] says:
on April 27, 2008 1:59 PM

Yeah, the radio's just saying first base. It's not the entire field.

[ Ian ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:00 PM

I don't think that really mattered last night for the C's. They simply got outplayed last night.

They'll bounce back big tomorrow night don't you worry.

[ 1863_project ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:00 PM

Whoa - the radio just said Youk's batting average at the Trop is under .200 for his career. Not sure I like that.

[ kristina ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:00 PM

um, i thought cowbell night was over

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:02 PM

The cowbells must be easier to hear on TV. They didn't seem to dominate last night -- I barely heard them, really. Or maybe I just tuned them out.

[ Lindsay ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:02 PM

lmaoo, i thoiught so too! wtf.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:02 PM

Okay Josh...time to work more of your magic!

[ 1863_project ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:03 PM

I can hear one or two on the radio right now, but that's it. I guess a few people had tickets for both nights.

[ Liza ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:03 PM

I have been hearing the cowbells all game. I bet some people who were there yesterday brought them back today just because.

[ Meghan ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:03 PM

I'm not worrying, the Hawks are going to get killed Monday.

Ticketmaster has a ton of game 5 tickets up still if anyone wants to go to it...I'm making myself wait until the ECF, if the C's get there, to go to a playoff game:-/

They aren't even making Shields work much...boo.

[ Ian ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:06 PM

UMMMMMMMMMMM where was that pitch besides over the plate

[ Liza ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:07 PM

BecKKKKett

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:07 PM

Yanno...I used to be SO into basketball, both college and NBA. I don't know what happened, but about the only time I pay attention anymore is during March Madness. I lost interest in the NBA when all the greats from the Jordan era retired.

BecKKKKett!!!!

[ jules ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:08 PM

I can definitely hear the cowbells. Too bad NESN couldn't block them out (like my Bose headphones).

BecKKKKett!

[ fc ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:08 PM

Josh is SCARY good.

[ 1863_project ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:08 PM

Holy shit. See, this is why we need Josh.

Desperate Third Baseman up, oooooh!

[ Lindsay ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:09 PM

Holy fricken shit!

[ Liza ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:09 PM

BecKKKKKett is just rolling along.

[ Lindsay ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:09 PM

the most strikeouts hes had this season is 6..and hes already at friggin 5! holy shit.

[ 1863_project ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:09 PM

Go back to Wisteria Lane, Evan.

(I do not watch that show, but my roommate loves it.)

[ kristina ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:09 PM

sit down Eva!

[ Lindsay ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:10 PM

All strikeouts no hitter/ that would be amazing!

::knock on wood::

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:10 PM

I SO wish that I could see this game on TV. This has got to be amazing to watch.

Anyone know who the likely starter will be a week from Monday? That's my next "Sox on TV" game.

[ Meghan ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:10 PM

LINDSAY!!! YOU NEVER EVER SAY THAT!!!!!

[ fc ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:11 PM

And Lindsay it doesn't even matter. We just want a W.

[ Lindsay ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:11 PM

Com on beck!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:12 PM

HA! Meghan beat me to it!

Lindsay, reverse psychology is the name of the game here!

[ Liza ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:12 PM

Lindsay, you HAD to say it.

[ Lindsay ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:12 PM

I knocked on wood! lol.

ok thats not my friggin fault! lol.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:13 PM

(sigh)......

[ Meghan ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:13 PM

See, thats what happens when you talk about a no hitter.

[ Lindsay ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:13 PM

Ok, im just gonna shut up now =X

[ 1863_project ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:13 PM

I knock on wood whenever the commentators say things, actually. See, I'm not very superstitious in my non-baseball life, but as far as the game goes...You just don't say anything whilst it's happening.

[ Ian ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:13 PM

It is your fault Lindsay. that's one of those things you aren't allowed to talk about either.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:14 PM

Any of the walking stats encyclopedias know what the record is for the highest number of Ks in a no-hitter? Just curious.

[ Lindsay ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:14 PM

Ok, i like Hinske n all, but he needs to knock it off! lol.

[ Liza ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:14 PM

BecKKKKKKett anyway.

[ kristina ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:14 PM

and BecKKKKKKet says....welcome to my world bitches!

[ 1863_project ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:15 PM

...dude, Hinske stole. Wasn't expecting that.

Eh, I'll take the strikeout.

[ Lindsay ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:15 PM

anyone know the record for most strikeouts in a game? or Becketts high?

[ Ian ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:15 PM

The record for strikeouts in a game is 20.

[ Lindsay ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:16 PM

Oh, and sry guys =( i didnt mean to jinx it! lol.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:16 PM

Yeah, Lindsay's K question is even more what I meant.

[ Lindsay ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:16 PM

ahhhh. =)

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:17 PM

Thanks, Ian.

[ 1863_project ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:17 PM

Lindsay - don't worry about it. All we need today is some offense...

[ Anonymous ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:17 PM

woops. that was supposed to be a dif picture! lmaoo

[ Lindsay ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:17 PM

It was supposed to be of Beckett

[ Liza ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:18 PM

Lindsay, that's TG's header, isn't it? It's randomized.

[ 1863_project ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:19 PM

(stops functioning for one at-bat)

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:20 PM

LOL, Steph!

[ 1863_project ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:20 PM

(functions again) Jed, you going for a rocket launch there?

[ Liza ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:21 PM

(chuckles) I wonder what Justin would say about Jed playing third so consistently...

[ Lindsay ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:21 PM

[ Lindsay ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:22 PM

haha

[ Ian ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:22 PM

OK.

fc that is the record at any position by Youk

Beckett's career high in strikeouts is 12 while he was with the Marlins.

[ 1863_project ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:23 PM

Liza - I do, too. Justin would totally have some sort of snarky comment about it...he always does.

[ Liza ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:24 PM

Record at any position? Seriously? As in he has THE most consecutive chances without an error anywhere?

Or am I reading that wrong?

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:24 PM

Maaaaaannnn, I remember my first look at Beckett, back when he was with the Marlins and pitched that incredible game in the WS.

[ Meghan ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:25 PM

Beckett's face in that pic is like "Mine! Mine!"

[ fc ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:27 PM

...and then there are those infielders who aren't quite so good...

[ Liza ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:27 PM

Holy shit o.0

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:28 PM

Youk should be renamed The Romanian God of Glove.

[ Liza ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:28 PM

Speaking of "holy shit"...

[ Meghan ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:28 PM

Speechless.

[ fc ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:29 PM

WHAT WAS THAT

[ kristina ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:29 PM

what just happened

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:29 PM

WTF??????

[ Ian ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:29 PM

fc would that be our very own E-6

[ 1863_project ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:29 PM

...whoops. Guys, let's not do that again.

[ Jessi ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:29 PM

What the fuck?!!!

[ Liza ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:30 PM

Beckett, CALM DOWN.

[ Ian ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:30 PM

Beckett threw the ball away on a pick off move. it went to the bullpen and Drew threw it away on the throw back in allowing him to score.

[ fc ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:31 PM

Ian - yup. But his last play pales in comparison to the travesty we just saw.

[ 1863_project ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:31 PM

Now since the runner was on base and Josh put him there, are they ruling that as earned or unearned?

[ Liza ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:32 PM

BecKKKKKKKett

[ Ian ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:32 PM

The run should be unearned

[ 1863_project ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:33 PM

Unearned? Okay, that's what I thought...

Josh coming back with the strikeout - I like it.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:34 PM

As of now, Gameday's official scorer gave Josh the ER (and E) on that play.

[ Liza ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:35 PM

BecKKKKKKKKett

E1 and E9 on that sad excuse for a pickoff, right?

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:36 PM

BecKKKKKKKKett!

[ kristina ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:36 PM

nice recovery...now lets get some runs so we can laugh about that later....BecKKKKKKKKt!!!!

[ 1863_project ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:36 PM

(whistles) Gorgeous.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:36 PM

The announcers are calling it two errors; Gameday only shows the one on Josh.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:37 PM

No - just one E. E1.

EIGHT STRIKEOUTS in 12 batters? Amazing.

[ Ian ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:37 PM

It should be two errors. One on Beckett for letting him get to third and a second error on Drew for allowing him to score.

[ 1863_project ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:38 PM

Ooh, wait, we've got Jacoby up, don't we? Time for that college business...this one has a bonus cameo. Travis Buck is in right field.

(plays Oregon Homeboy on iTunes)

[ Ian ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:38 PM

And i was wrong. it is an earned run.

[ 1863_project ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:39 PM

Nuuuuuu. I FAIL.

It is earned? Okay.

[ Liza ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:39 PM

Yeah, Remy said two...

Hey, Shields! You've got a ONE-HITTER so far! You've faced the MINIMUM batters! Sat down TEN CONSECUTIVELY! Hear that?

[ Meghan ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:40 PM

Well, technically BEcKKKKKKKKet...who do we think has the official score? NESN or Gameday? Cause they've got different things still...

Fuck the offense. God damnit.

[ Liza ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:40 PM

Well that deeeefinitely worked. :P

[ Ian ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:40 PM

Here's something from the Providence Journal:

It's only the third inning here at Tropicana Field and Red Sox pitcher Josh Beckett has seven strikeouts -- a season-high.

Sure, it's still early in the game to even consider the right-hander recording a 20 strikeouts, but for a goof here are some eerie similarities to Roger Clemens' 20-K performance from April 29, 1986.

On that day the NFL draft was being held. The Celtics were playing the Atlanta Hawks in the NBA playoffs.

Currently, the NFL draft is being held and the Celtics are playing the Hawks in the first round of the playoffs.

Freaky? Maybe. Pushing it a little? Sure.

[ Caroline ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:40 PM

Could be worse. Could be raining.

[ kristina ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:40 PM

that was not what I had in mind

[ Erin ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:40 PM

The offense has to do something soon.

[ Ian ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:41 PM

amalie bejamin said it's a E-1 for the throw to first and E-9 for the throw home

[ Liza ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:42 PM

Hey, Meghan, didja see that?

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:42 PM

He put the runner on base. He committed the error. It's definitely his earned run.

There may be no E on Drew because the runner had already turned for home and/or the scorer didn't believe he could have made the throw in time anyway.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:45 PM

Caroline: I like the way you think.

[ Liza ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:45 PM

That was a GREAT hit. Wow.

Heey, it's Mr. Eva "Yeah" Longoria.

Wow, that kid is gonna have so many nicknames...

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:46 PM

Yep - he pushed that right into the right spot in the RF corner.

[ Liza ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:47 PM

And Drew bashed into the wall, too.

BecKKKKKKKKKet. Damn.

[ 1863_project ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:47 PM

I feel bad for Evan. He must get all this shit for his name...

He's a funny kid, though.

[ kristina ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:50 PM

ok now....how about some offense

[ Erin ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:50 PM

Please offense do something here?

[ 1863_project ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:51 PM

Aaaaagh, I have to run - I've got scholastic obligations. See everyone later!

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:51 PM

This is definitely a pitcher's duel today - Josh is dealing the K's, and Shields is forcing the ball to pop or go on the ground.

[ Liza ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:51 PM

Hey, Shields, you have a ONE-HITTER going so far.

[ Ian ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:52 PM

Live statistics during games are subject to change and should be considered unofficial.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:53 PM

C'mon guys, let's get this thing going!

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:55 PM

Fantastic eye, Manny.

[ Meghan ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:55 PM

A baserunner!

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:55 PM

Ian: you just did NOT want to let that go, eh?

[ Liza ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:55 PM

Thanks, Ian.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:56 PM

MANNY STEALS?!?! Beautiful.

[ Liza ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:56 PM

Manny!

[ Ian ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:56 PM

No I didn't.

Umm who put Jacoby in Manny's body

[ kristina ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:56 PM

did Manny just steal!!!!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:56 PM

:-D

[ Liza ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:56 PM

Last stolen base for Manny, for those who don't have NESN: April 10, 2005.

[ Meghan ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:56 PM

Manny being Jacoby.

[ fc ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:56 PM

Manny? Steals?

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:57 PM

Wish I could have seen those dreads streaming behind him ..../shallow/ heeheehee...

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:58 PM

I want him to steal third. Of course, this would never happen - but would rule if it did.

[ Liza ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:58 PM

If he stole third, that'd be Manny Being Coco.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 27, 2008 2:59 PM

Not sure that he should tempt fate twice in a row...

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on April 27, 2008 3:00 PM

We cannot let a Manny steal go to waste. That would be a crime.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 27, 2008 3:00 PM

I don't trust Tek in the clutch...

[ Ian ] says:
on April 27, 2008 3:02 PM

That was the 7th steal of manny's red sox career and 35th overall

[ Liza ] says:
on April 27, 2008 3:02 PM

We have to stop stranding baserunners.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 27, 2008 3:02 PM

(sigh)....... =/

[ kristina ] says:
on April 27, 2008 3:03 PM

runs, we need runs boys

[ Liza ] says:
on April 27, 2008 3:05 PM

Too bad Steph had to leave, Jed's leading off the next inning.

[ Ian ] says:
on April 27, 2008 3:05 PM

need more than one baserunner to get those runs kristina

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on April 27, 2008 3:05 PM

Yeah - only 1 LOB so far today, but there were SIX last night. No bueno.

[ Ian ] says:
on April 27, 2008 3:08 PM

How bout this one from ESPN's draft chat.

Samantha (Atlanta, GA): You guys are so lazy. You literally answer a question every 3 to 5 minutes. Its quite pathetic and I'm sure you get paid fairly well. How do you sleep at night? It wouldn't surprise me if you were hanging with Talib and Manningham, smoking out and sitting around on your lazy aces!!

[ Liza ] says:
on April 27, 2008 3:10 PM

Ha. Wow.

Moss, Ortiz, and Buchholz--oh, how I would love to be a fly on the wall there...

[ Liza ] says:
on April 27, 2008 3:12 PM

BecKKKKKKKKKKett looks fugging impressive.

[ Jessi ] says:
on April 27, 2008 3:12 PM

10 Ks for Beckkkkkkkkkket =]

[ kristina ] says:
on April 27, 2008 3:13 PM

BecKKKKKKKKKKett........now would be a great time to start hitting the ball......i love pitchers duels...but love em more when we're ahead

[ Erin ] says:
on April 27, 2008 3:13 PM

Really the offense should do something now.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 27, 2008 3:14 PM

Awaken thy bats, oh men of Boston!

[ Liza ] says:
on April 27, 2008 3:14 PM

That was DEEP. Wow.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 27, 2008 3:15 PM

Patience at the plate, guys. Patience...

[ Ian ] says:
on April 27, 2008 3:15 PM

It appears our bats are suffering from the flu as well,

[ Meghan ] says:
on April 27, 2008 3:16 PM

Lugo!

[ Liza ] says:
on April 27, 2008 3:16 PM

Good job, E6.

Now, guys, GET HIM HOME.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 27, 2008 3:16 PM

YEAH! That's more like it! And out of the infield, no less!

[ Meghan ] says:
on April 27, 2008 3:17 PM

I'm hating these first pitch swings. Patience. At least make Shield work a bit. Please?

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 27, 2008 3:18 PM

Yeah, I don't get the lack of patience. Work the count, dammit!

[ Liza ] says:
on April 27, 2008 3:18 PM

I said, "Don't strike out!" right before he swung. Ugh.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 27, 2008 3:19 PM

(sigh)....and another *fast* baserunner goes to waste.

[ Jessi ] says:
on April 27, 2008 3:19 PM

Weren't our guys averaging like 5 runs a game a couple days back?

[ Ian ] says:
on April 27, 2008 3:23 PM

Shields has 73 pitches through 6 innings

[ Meghan ] says:
on April 27, 2008 3:24 PM

Very nice Youk.

[ Liza ] says:
on April 27, 2008 3:25 PM

BecKKKKKKKKKKKett

[ Caroline ] says:
on April 27, 2008 3:26 PM

We can has offenses now?

[ kristina ] says:
on April 27, 2008 3:26 PM

ok i'm predicting/hoping/pleading for our bats to come alive in the 7th...

[ Ian ] says:
on April 27, 2008 3:27 PM

How does it get into Mommy's tummy?

I would have loved it if he had said, she swallowed it.

[ jules ] says:
on April 27, 2008 3:27 PM

BecKKKKKKKKKKKett!

Come on, bats! let's win this thing.

[ Meghan ] says:
on April 27, 2008 3:27 PM

PH Moss! And Cash! Hahahaha.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 27, 2008 3:28 PM

(begging pleading beseeching)

[ kristina ] says:
on April 27, 2008 3:33 PM

what the f!@*....thats all i have to say

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 27, 2008 3:34 PM

This really sucks. =/

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on April 27, 2008 3:34 PM

The dead, lifeless bats are painful. WAKE IT UP, GUYS.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 27, 2008 3:35 PM

I think our guys are just so damn tired right now that they're having trouble being anything other than dead and lifeless.

[ Erin ] says:
on April 27, 2008 3:35 PM

Really, Sox offense "WAKE UP!"

[ Liza ] says:
on April 27, 2008 3:35 PM

Yay, inflatable mascot!

[ Erin ] says:
on April 27, 2008 3:37 PM

Where's Raymond?

[ Liza ] says:
on April 27, 2008 3:38 PM

Oh fug.

[ fc ] says:
on April 27, 2008 3:38 PM

this is depressing

[ kristina ] says:
on April 27, 2008 3:39 PM

NOOOOOOOOOOOO

[ Meghan ] says:
on April 27, 2008 3:39 PM

Fuck this.

They lost the game that Pedro struck out 17 in too.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 27, 2008 3:39 PM

OH. SHIT.

[ Jessi ] says:
on April 27, 2008 3:40 PM

I'm sick of us losing.

[ jules ] says:
on April 27, 2008 3:41 PM

sigh...

We *really* needs some offense here.

[ kristina ] says:
on April 27, 2008 3:41 PM

why can't we do that dammit

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 27, 2008 3:41 PM

And unfortunately, NYY are up 1-0 in the 8th.

The good news is that Posada apparently has a muscle tear in his shoulder (per WRKO) and it "may be serious."

[ Ian ] says:
on April 27, 2008 3:41 PM

LOST:

The Red Sox offense. If found, please send it to Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, FL IMMEDIATELY

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on April 27, 2008 3:42 PM

Career-high 12 K's - last time he did that was back in '02, I think.

[ Liza ] says:
on April 27, 2008 3:42 PM

BecKKKKKKKKKKKKett

(Except Longoria)

[ jules ] says:
on April 27, 2008 3:43 PM

BecKKKKKKKKKKKKet!

It would be a shame to lose this game after his outstanding pitching.

It would be an even bigger shame to lose to TB. again.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 27, 2008 3:43 PM

Yeah, BecKKKKKKKKKKKKett!

Liza, that is a GREAT picture! LOL...

[ jules ] says:
on April 27, 2008 3:44 PM

BecKKKKKKKKKKKKKet!

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on April 27, 2008 3:44 PM

All-time career best 13 K's... and we can't hit for shit.

KKKKKKKKKKKKK

[ Liza ] says:
on April 27, 2008 3:44 PM

BecKKKKKKKKKKKKKett strikes again.

[ Meghan ] says:
on April 27, 2008 3:44 PM

Career high for Beckett. Get him the W to go with it now please.

[ Erin ] says:
on April 27, 2008 3:44 PM

Can someone please slap some sense into the Sox offense and tell them to do something?

[ kristina ] says:
on April 27, 2008 3:44 PM

ok it would really suck to have two great pitching performances without a win

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 27, 2008 3:44 PM

Maybe the 13 will prove to be a lucky number?

[ Liza ] says:
on April 27, 2008 3:46 PM

Coco, Tek, and Lowrie up now. Then Lugo and the top of the order.

[ Meghan ] says:
on April 27, 2008 3:48 PM

First fucking pitch again. Ugh.

[ fc ] says:
on April 27, 2008 3:49 PM

I HATE COWBELLS

[ kristina ] says:
on April 27, 2008 3:50 PM

this is ridiculuos....i'm gonna throw something at the television soon

[ Erin ] says:
on April 27, 2008 3:50 PM

This game sucks

[ Ian ] says:
on April 27, 2008 3:52 PM

The run Bartlett scored was changed to an unearned run.

[ Liza ] says:
on April 27, 2008 3:53 PM

Oww.

[ Ian ] says:
on April 27, 2008 3:53 PM

Now that's what we would call some head hunting

[ fc ] says:
on April 27, 2008 3:53 PM

yikes

[ Meghan ] says:
on April 27, 2008 3:53 PM

MDC must still be dizzy.

[ Liza ] says:
on April 27, 2008 3:56 PM

MDC looks and pitches better without that growth on his chin.

Also, that's 19 combined Ks in this game. Wow.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 27, 2008 3:57 PM

LOL, Liza. I never did like that growth on his chin.

[ Ian ] says:
on April 27, 2008 3:57 PM

just as ecl said.

The New York Times is reporting that Jorge Posada has a muscle tear in his shoulder and will be headed to the disabled list. You can’t hide the truth for long.

[ fc ] says:
on April 27, 2008 3:57 PM

Bartlett appears to be fine.

[ Meghan ] says:
on April 27, 2008 3:57 PM

Iwamura says "I can't hit fastballs for shit but if you hang a curve to me and I hit it then I get to flip my bat like I'm Barry fucking Bonds!"

[ Liza ] says:
on April 27, 2008 3:58 PM

Wow. Posada on the DL. He sure took his sweet time with that one.

[ fc ] says:
on April 27, 2008 3:58 PM

I hate baseball.

[ Ian ] says:
on April 27, 2008 3:58 PM

SHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEIT

[ kristina ] says:
on April 27, 2008 3:59 PM

this sucks

[ Jessi ] says:
on April 27, 2008 3:59 PM

FUCK.

[ Liza ] says:
on April 27, 2008 3:59 PM

FAIL.

[ Erin ] says:
on April 27, 2008 4:00 PM

This both sucks and blows at the same time

[ Liza ] says:
on April 27, 2008 4:00 PM

MDKK

[ Ian ] says:
on April 27, 2008 4:00 PM

but does it swallow?

[ Nikki ] says:
on April 27, 2008 4:00 PM

How the hell are we getting swept by the RAYS?! We beat them by 30 games last year!

[ jennifer ] says:
on April 27, 2008 4:01 PM

Tomorrow had better be mandatory nap day for the entire team.

[ Ian ] says:
on April 27, 2008 4:01 PM

don't even say it.

Wrong Ian. SO wrong.

[ Liza ] says:
on April 27, 2008 4:01 PM

Nicely put, Erin.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on April 27, 2008 4:02 PM

I need a nap. Just watching the sleepy bats makes me sleepy.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 27, 2008 4:03 PM

LOL, Ian. You remind me of a couple of my guy pals from college.

Jennifer, well said. S-L-E-E-P. Please, guys, just sleep tomorrow!

[ Erin ] says:
on April 27, 2008 4:03 PM

Liza- Thanks I got that line form the Simpson's.

Can we get some hits and walks here now?

[ Liza ] says:
on April 27, 2008 4:03 PM

Okay. Lugo then the top of the order. GET HITS. SCORE RUNS. Preferably at least three. PLEEEEEEEEEEASE.

Aw fug no.

Okay, so top of the order...

[ Meghan ] says:
on April 27, 2008 4:04 PM

I know what the issue is! We are about to be 1-8 in domes this year. We can't hit in domes. Problem solved.

Nice infield hit Lugo! Fuck off!

[ Ian ] says:
on April 27, 2008 4:04 PM

I forget some times that there are youngins here and need to watch what I say.

[ Liza ] says:
on April 27, 2008 4:05 PM

Don't bother, Ian. :P

COME ON PLEATS!

[ Erin ] says:
on April 27, 2008 4:05 PM

and they have towels now!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 27, 2008 4:05 PM

Lugo of all people should know how to hit in domes. He played a couple-three seasons here.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on April 27, 2008 4:05 PM

No - there is no censorship here on cusswords. If you're too young to hear cussing, etc.... you're too young to be here.

And speaking of cussing...

FUCK.

[ Erin ] says:
on April 27, 2008 4:06 PM

This fucking blows

[ Kara ] says:
on April 27, 2008 4:06 PM

Ugh.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 27, 2008 4:06 PM

Yeah, Liza -- they don't make young'ns the way they used to. So much more knowledgeable now.

Dammit ^&(^@#@%@#

[ Meghan ] says:
on April 27, 2008 4:06 PM

Ha they are playing Sweet Caroline at the Trop. That is kind of funny.

[ jennifer ] says:
on April 27, 2008 4:06 PM

Fuck fuckity fuck fuck fuck. That is all.

[ kristina ] says:
on April 27, 2008 4:08 PM

fug fug fug......two nights of awesome pitching and two nights of crap ass hitting

[ Sarah ] says:
on April 27, 2008 4:08 PM

Hey guys, first time posting here...since I'm in a very bad mood after getting swept, I was wondering if anyone would like to post their favorite sox pictures?

[ Liza ] says:
on April 27, 2008 4:08 PM

So it was technically a 20-strikeout game...

But fuck.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 27, 2008 4:09 PM

Awww, Liza -- I wanna give sympathy hugs to the whole team and tell them to go night-night with their blankies.

[ Erin ] says:
on April 27, 2008 4:09 PM

Its such bullshit that Beckett gets the loss today.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 27, 2008 4:09 PM

Just like Buch yesterday.

[ kristina ] says:
on April 27, 2008 4:09 PM

the only thing to look foward to now is Beckett's post game......i'm personally hoping for a few chioce words just to brighten the day

[ Liza ] says:
on April 27, 2008 4:09 PM

Hi Sarah.

One upside to today's game: the Beckett postgame press conference.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 27, 2008 4:10 PM

Will that be on WRKO?

[ Ian ] says:
on April 27, 2008 4:10 PM

Texy,

can you get that Red Sox Nation ad they just showed on the HD feed. It wasn't being shown on the regular feed

[ Meghan ] says:
on April 27, 2008 4:11 PM

I don't know about my favorite pic, but this is what I feel best represents the Sox right now:

[ Ian ] says:
on April 27, 2008 4:11 PM

well in that case Texy, gosh darn it the friggin Red Sox sucked butt today

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 27, 2008 4:12 PM

Meghan! Don't know whether to laugh or cry!

[ Ian ] says:
on April 27, 2008 4:13 PM

If Baltimore loses today, the Rays, Red Sox and Orioles will all be tied for first place in the American League East.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 27, 2008 4:13 PM

Wherever Josh's postgame conference may be, can someone please post it later? Thanks!

[ Ian ] says:
on April 27, 2008 4:14 PM

since they are on the road, you won't get a full press conference from commander kickass. probably just a couple of snippets

[ Lindsay ] says:
on April 27, 2008 4:14 PM

this is such bullshit. another great picture, but another loss

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 27, 2008 4:15 PM

Ah, okay. Never mind.

[ Liza ] says:
on April 27, 2008 4:15 PM

How about this one, Meghan?

[ fc ] says:
on April 27, 2008 4:16 PM

Playing Sweet Caroline after that just seems mean.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 27, 2008 4:19 PM

Very mean. Rubbing salt in the wounds.

[ Lindsay ] says:
on April 27, 2008 4:19 PM

Pitcher*

[ Lindsay ] says:
on April 27, 2008 4:19 PM

Pitcher*

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 27, 2008 4:20 PM

Did this site just hiccup for a moment?

[ Erin ] says:
on April 27, 2008 4:22 PM

I hate Tampa Bay, At least Sox fans don't need stupid things like Cowbells to be heard.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 27, 2008 4:24 PM

I didn't know I hated Tampa Bay until a couple of days ago. But yeah.

[ Meghan ] says:
on April 27, 2008 4:26 PM

Lester vs. Halladay Tuesday. So that probably means four innings of Halladay vs. the Sox Bullpen. Fun!

[ Meghan ] says:
on April 27, 2008 4:30 PM

Tampa is still my second favorite AL team:-D

I feel like I did after the Toronto series...the games sucked but I think the team just needs a break. I've said all along if they get out of April at .500 I will be happy. And that was before the flu and all the injuries.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on April 27, 2008 4:31 PM

Well, gals and Ian...I need to try to redeem this weekend's lack of personal productivity. Lots to do here. My good intentions got lost in a sea of baseball up until this point.

I so totally hope that a day off and the sight of The Monster and the Fenway Faithful will rejuvenate our guys. Looking forward to Tuesday night. And I promise to create my LJ account between now and then (LOL, then let the fun begin as you all teach me what to do with the damn thing!). Until then...over and out.

[ fc ] says:
on April 27, 2008 4:38 PM

We're about to hear from Josh...

[ starr4 ] says:
on April 27, 2008 4:50 PM

Josh "I'm not that athletic" Beckett, with his 13 strikes, faces the press.

[ starr4 ] says:
on April 27, 2008 4:51 PM

May I add: I am despondent to have been swept by the Rays. It is not my happy place.

[ fc ] says:
on April 27, 2008 4:58 PM

Same here, starr. And feeling the need to wallow.

[ njdevils ] says:
on April 27, 2008 5:04 PM

Meghan, the Rays are my probably my second-favorite AL team, too.
Up until this series, I've always felt kind of bad for them.... I mean, they've never made playoffs--ever, and they've never had a season over .500. I understand that that's only because they're still a new team, but in a pathetic kind of way, I sometimes secretly wish that they'll do well. (But I'd never wish that they'll do well against us!)

[ Mary ] says:
on April 27, 2008 5:53 PM

That game(and series) certainly sucked, but I said at the beginning of the month that I would be happy if they had a .500 record after April, and so far they are 3 games above .500, so I can't really complain about anything.

At least our pitching has looked better over the past few games, and the hitting will come sooner or later.
