Jonathan Papelbon is plotting a slow and stealthy campaign to take over the world, I am fairly certain. First there was the jigging. And the cover of Sports Illustrated. And the numerous talk show appearances. And QVC. And the Closer of the Year award. And the ballroom dance extravaganza. And, of course, the contract squabbles.
Now he's taking over your local Dunkin Donuts.

His patented fist pump and holler will be popping up at Dunkin Donuts shops around New England as part of their latest "Red Sox Win, You Win" promotion.
And just in case you're not sure whether the Sox won last night (shocking!), Dunkin Donuts stores have these cute little reminders up:Every time the Sox win a game from now through June 24, Dunkin Donuts patrons will receive a free 16-ounce iced coffee or iced tea with any oven-toasted flatbread sandwich or personal pizza purchased after 11 a.m. The promotion is available at participating Dunkin Donuts shops throughout Massachusetts, Maine, Rhode Island, and southern New Hampshire.

Of course the best part is that he's also popping up in an accompanying Dunkin Donuts ad on television, too... as well as another commercial for Modell's. We may fast be approaching the point of media saturation, but as long as he's bringing free coffee with him, I don't care. I also don't care that they used a butt double for him (no, they really did).

Both of those were great. For some reason I get a special thrill seeing a Sox player appearing in something shot on film. Like suddenly Papelbon is appearing in a Hollywood movie or something.
