Timlin's Not-So-Grand Homecoming

I'm fairly certain that Mike Timlin didn't want to make his re-entrance from the DL and leave this kind of stat line in his wake:

That is not a misprint: he has a 54.00 ERA. Which currently ties him with Lenny DiNardo for the second-worst ERA in all of major league baseball. (Who has the worst ERA? This guy - who I've honestly never even heard of. Wonder why that is?)

The good news is, Clay Buchholz more than held his own for six innings, Hideki Okajima was rock solid, and David Aardsma worked out of the Javier Lopez-created jam and proved why he was the one who didn't get DFA'ed today. (bye-bye Colgate!) The bad news is... Wang totally owned each and every member of the lineup whose name isn't "J.D. Drew" or "Dustin Pedroia" (because I don't give a crap what the official scorer says, THAT WAS A HIT).

But my Baseball Boyfriend of the Day honors are going to be a split award between J.D. "Hitting Wang Hard" Drew, for his moon shot that scored the Sox' only run today, and Sean "I Don't Always Make Errors" Casey, for his unassisted double play and general fielding excellence today. Honorable mention to Dustin Pedroia for getting a hit getting A-Rod to E-5.

I am SO proud of Buchholz. Even when all those people were coming down on you in ST! Kick ass, buddy, kick ass.

Least impressive 2-hitter (or 3-hitter) I've ever seen. I don't care what anyone says. The Sox were smacking line drives all over the park and had virtually nothing to show for. Wang was just lucky.

I'm loving this new J.D. Drew, though. What a beast.

It was a mixture of many things, mouse. Wang got the outs when he needed to, he also got pretty lucky with an umpire who seemed to call em low and inside a lot and everything that was hit hard was right at people. I think this whole playing 19 times a year deal has gotten the two teams to discover each other's idiosyncrasies. Which kind of sucks...honestly, they face each other too much. Money be damned, it's too much.

Drew did good, Buchholz did good, Okajima did good, Aardsma wasn't half bad, and I liked Coco dropping down that bunt. However, I keep thinking that Coco should probably put on a little extra armor tomorrow just in case.

Alas, it is currently POURING in Boston so the planned appearance of Commander Kick Ass of the Fuck Yeah Brigade is in jeopardy sadly

Buchholz wasn't that bad; he just had to throw a lot of pitches. Put it this way--he threw 95 pitches in six innings. Wang? Threw that in the entire game. For a little skinny guy from Taiwan he did good.

Oh--and that song Okajima comes out to? MADE OF AWESOME.

Now it's sunny and beautiful in Boston!

Also, HOORAY for JD. I am seriously so excited that more people like him now. Also, extrapolating his homers over the course of the season looks awesome--he's played in 8 of 11 games so far, so I'm assuming he'll play in only 118 of 162, but he's due for 44 (and a fourth) homers anyway!

How's the weather out there in Boston?

Not to rub it in, but it's 79 and sunny here ;-)

Liza, you answered my question.

Excellent, there will be baseball!

Specifically, it's 58 now, but feels much, much warmer! The sky is completely clear, from what I can see.

Doesn't look like there's going to be any rain...

Wang is not small. He's 6-3 and 230 pounds. Ha can totally kick Buchholz's ass.

Note to "Big wang": the commenter you are arguing with is a Yankees fan. And she didn't say "small" she said "skinny". And no one said anything about Buchholz kicking his ass. So, relax a little, dude.

she said Wang is "a little skinny guy". So I just trying to say Wang is big and solid. I meant no offense to sox fans.
