Your Leadoff Batter Is...

FOX knows talent when they see it... and I'm not talking about Tim McCarver.

The talent in question is Sean "So Nice It Hurts" Casey- who read the lineups before Saturday's face-off against the Yankees. And in a little bit of a wishful thinking Freudian slip, Sean attempts to raise himself higher in the batting order just a hair...

heeheeee...I noticed that slip-up, too. Made me laugh.

I've been impressed with how he's filled in during Mike's DL. I hope Papi has a good game tonight.

I'll be honest with y'all. Nothing against the Mayor, Joba's was much funnier.

Ian, I have to agree with you. Joba was hilarious. By the way...right about now he needs good vibes from whoever is willing to send them. Per mlb.com, his dad collapsed yesterday and is in critical condition. Joba left after last night's game to be with him and is currently on the MLB bereavement list. He's very close to his dad, who raised him solo and has major, major health issues. IMO, in the face of such an overwhelming situation, support for one's fellow human beings trumps rivalries.

I giggled for about ten minutes after I saw that...

...although I will agree with Ian and say Joba's was sillier by a mile.

*Ian and Ecl. I need to stop opening tabs and keeping them there before replying.

I heard about Joba's dad--the two of them are very close. Joba, apparently, broke down in tears in the clubhouse when he heard. I'm leaving a comment on Phil Hughes's blog right now to tell him to wish Joba the best... I never thought I'd comment on the same post as dozens of seriously obnoxious (and some not-obnoxious) Yankees fans...

I heard about Joba's father, too - I'm seriously nervous. I hope everything works out okay for them...it's a very scary situation. (keeps her fingers crossed)

It's good that we as baseball fans can put aside rivalries long enough to genuinely wish someone the best. My thoughts are with the Chamberlain family.

Why do the Red Sox always have the more serious and less whimsical players do their lineups? I don't get it. They need to put in someone like Pedroia(again) or Lowell to do it(though Lowell can be taken on as serious but he'd probably have a little dry humored fun with it). Jacoby did it in the World Series and he sounded like a nervous prom date trying to talk to the father of his date.

Ellsbury sounded like a nervous prom date because he's about two weeks from the real prom :)
