I sure hope I get this game. Fox is doing interviews from Fenway, but the show description is the Dodgers/Angels.

I already miss DO & Remy.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 17, 2008 3:40 PM

I have my fingers crossed for you!

[ Bethie ] says:
on May 17, 2008 3:42 PM

I'm right there with you Jules. If they go to Dodgers\Angels, I will miss all 3 games this weekend. And I will be bummed.

BTW, Hi everyone!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on May 17, 2008 3:42 PM

Jules, for your sake I hope the show description is incorrect! My show description says Sox/Brewers, but then again, I'm on the East Coast.

Almost time to grab a snack and relax in front of my TV. Woohoo -- live Sox! :-D

[ Ian ] says:
on May 17, 2008 3:43 PM

I'm here. I'm here. Just hoping my blog stays up. BTW, Wordpress sucks.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on May 17, 2008 3:44 PM

Bethie, there's no way you'll get switched to a Cali game, seeing as how you're practically down the street from me.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on May 17, 2008 3:45 PM

Ian, WTH happened last night with your blog? I was worried that you had done away with it, but of course that made no sense.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 17, 2008 3:47 PM

Long story short is that wordpress sucks.

Actually after staying up all night and figuring out the problem and fixing the database last night, the blog was working just fine this morning until it crashed again. So we were going to shut it down for the weekend and then start fresh but after talking with the tech people, they told me what to get rid of that's causing the problems.

[ Bethie ] says:
on May 17, 2008 3:48 PM

Well, that's a relief. I was going to be pissed if they showed me something other than red sox. :)

[ Ian ] says:
on May 17, 2008 3:50 PM

and in time we are going to switch blogging platforms to the one that our gracious host Texy uses since she never has problems like I do with wordpress.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on May 17, 2008 3:50 PM

Okay...heading for the other room. Will check back after awhile. Play ball! :-)

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on May 17, 2008 3:51 PM

That sounds like a great idea, Ian.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 17, 2008 3:52 PM

I'm watching Keeping UpWith the Kardashians. LOL.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 17, 2008 3:53 PM

Running to get lunch (yes, I'm eating late) and beer. Will be back soon!

[ Ian ] says:
on May 17, 2008 3:56 PM

bad planning Texy, you should have gone before the game like I did. :D

[ Bethie ] says:
on May 17, 2008 3:58 PM

Can someone have a beer for me? :)

[ Jane ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:01 PM

Hi all. I'm loving this baseball- on- my- TV thing today. Gameday rots.

Sunny in Beantown, eh? Yeah. It's miserable here. I'm hoping the PawSox don't get cancelled tonight.

[ Liza ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:02 PM

The graphics across the top of the screen are pissing me off already. That blue line is so distracting.

[ Liza ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:02 PM

Good job Tek. Wow.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:03 PM

How come we get stuck with McCarver

[ fc ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:03 PM

Went to a game last night that didn't happen.
Was up past 4 AM, woke up at 11:00 this morning.
I'm watching a game before getting ready to go to a game.
Hoping my favorite player isn't in tonight so he'll be in tomorrow when I have better seats.
Up is down and down is up.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:03 PM

It's beautiful here on the shores of CT. 68 and sunny with a breeze coming off the water.

[ Jane ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:03 PM

Looooovely play, Tek, Quick feet.

[ Bethie ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:04 PM

Great throw out at second by Tek! Lord I believe we have the best catcher in the world.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:04 PM

fc the traffic car and foot should be fun around the Fens tonight.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:05 PM

i don't believe it. It's Jim Fucking Rice and he's doing the lineups.

[ Liza ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:05 PM

fc, I've felt like that for the last week or so. The world's upside down, not only related to baseball.

It's gorgeous here. I've been stuck inside all day and of course I'm going to be tied to the TV for the next, oh, eight hours. Good times.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:07 PM

By the way if you hadn't heard, Coco is out with vertigo but may play tonight and Okajima has been shutdown for a few days with a sore wrist.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:09 PM

How long until we get D.O. and RemDawg back. I can't take McCarver anymore.

[ Jane ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:09 PM

Thanks, Ian. Vertigo. Woof. That's such an awful feeling. I feel for him.

Am I the only one who thinks Ken Rosenthal is a massive tool?

[ Ellen ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:10 PM

I hate watching the Red Sox on channels other than NESN.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:12 PM

No Jane, you're not the only one. He's good with the rumors he gets but he lost any sense of my affections (not in a gay way) when he broke the AROD news last year during the World Series.

[ fc ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:12 PM

Ouch!

[ Liza ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:13 PM

Yeeeow.

[ Bethie ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:13 PM

That would be a negative Jane. I think we all agree he is a massive tool.

As is McCarver.

[ Ellen ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:13 PM

Ian, that was so cheesy. I agree with you guys.

[ njdevils ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:13 PM

I think ECL and I are the only ones who are actually glad that the game's not on NESN...

[ Liza ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:14 PM

Youuuk!

And I hate the announcers. But for the sake of those out of NESN territory I'm glad it's on national TV. :)

[ Ian ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:14 PM

fc i'm sure you saw my answer to your question on my blog earlier but i just thought of something else.

You'll probably get to see Kapler tonight in the 2nd game.

[ Bethie ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:15 PM

I am too nj. Being on FOX allows me to watch at work. :)

[ Ian ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:16 PM

I should be happy for y'all but I'm about a few minutes away from watching this on my dvr on my computer and syching it up to the radio broadcast.

[ njdevils ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:17 PM

Liza, I can't stand them either, but (for me) it's better than nothing. Sometimes, I end up muting my TV and just watching the game without sound.

[ Ellen ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:18 PM

Yup. You have to take what you can get.

Keep walking in those runs, Suppan!

[ Ian ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:18 PM

Britt your better off that way.

[ njdevils ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:18 PM

Final Score:
Mets-7, Yanks-4

[ Liza ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:18 PM

I'll take it.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:19 PM

We actually don't need to worry about how hte Yankees are doing right now (which is hte oddest thing in the world right now), we actually need to worry about what the Rays do.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:20 PM

Back. Got beer AND Jameson (thank you, kind roommate- who knows I have no spare money and so kindly donated the alcohol to my tummy).

Sox have a 1-run lead.
I have alcohol and food.
This is turning out to be a great day.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:20 PM

But thanks for the score update because after reading my response, I sounded snooty. :D

[ fc ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:20 PM

Yup Ian - got your answer, thanks.
I feel like such a spolied brat with my near-whine, since I'll be at both games!

Anyhoo here's hoping Youk does his usual play-his-ass-off job this afternoon and gets a rest tonight so I can see him up-close-and-personal tomorrow.
In any case seeing Kapler would be great!

Hey - a run! Thanks Suppan!

[ Liza ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:20 PM

And don't forget the gorgeous weather...

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:21 PM

And on Rosenthal: I was at Game 4 of the World Series, so I didn't have to hear him drool over A-Rod. (hee hee - bragging!)

[ Ian ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:21 PM

A spoiled brat from our hometown, you don't say. And I thought I was the only one.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:22 PM

fc- you're going to the game tomorrow?!? WOW- we should try to meet up. :)

[ njdevils ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:22 PM

You're right (like usual), Ian.
The Rays are tied 8-8 with the Cards in the ninth.
Oh, and I don't think you sounded snooty at all. =D

[ Ian ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:22 PM

Shush it you. We didn't hear a word they said either during Game 1. (hee hee- look who's bragging now).

I think I still have the pictures you sent me during the game :D

[ fc ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:23 PM

LOL TG ;)

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:24 PM

Beer before liquor, never sicker. Liquor before beer, never fear. Right?
So it's Jameson first, then.

QUESTION: who is worse- Tim McCarver or Joe Morgan? Discuss.

[ Jane ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:24 PM

Hahaha, Texy. You're lucky!

[ Liza ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:24 PM

Funny reaction from Drew on that one, hah.

[ fc ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:25 PM

Drew, wtf?

[ Ian ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:25 PM

Answer: They both suck equally the same

[ Liza ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:26 PM

TG, is that a trick question? They're both worse than Don and Remy.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:26 PM

EAT A SANDWICH, Corey Hart.
Also, quit looking like a serial killer.
And quit wearing your sunglasses at night.

[ Jane ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:26 PM

Joe Morgan. Joe EFFING Morgan. He sometimes makes me think I've missed my calling as a broadcaster. You know. Since he takes the basics of the game and breaks them down to the simplest of terms and attempts to pass it off as analysis. It bugs me.

And he sounds like the bastard child of Al Gore and Family Guy's Cleveland Brown.

Woof.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:27 PM

Cecil Fielder hasn't played in how long and he can't even get Prince's name right.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:28 PM
And he sounds like the bastard child of Al Gore and Family Guy's Cleveland Brown.

I just spit my drink out. Nice one Jane.

[ fc ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:28 PM

Hm, Ian is a snooty spoiled brat.

And that liquor-then-beer thing? TOTALLY true. My theory is that if you're primed with beer first you'll drink the hard stuff too fast. Actually it's not a theory. I've proved it numerous times.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:28 PM

Tim McCarver tends to "analyze" by making shit up that makes no sense and is false.
Joe Morgan tends to "analyze" (like Jane said) by saying really basic stuff like he just thought of it and he's Einstein.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:29 PM

My god. The Rays have 18 hits today against the Cardinals.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:29 PM

Hey all, just catching up on posts. Yeah, I feel for you NESN folks. The only consolation indeed is that I actually get to watch a game.

Okay, our guys coming up...back to my TV.

[ Liza ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:30 PM

This is still all I can think of when JJ Hardy and Jeff Suppan come up in the same sentence.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:30 PM

fc- let's put the theory to the test tomorrow. Wait- I always forget Fenway's biggest glaring failure: NO HARD LIQUOR. Boo! (other failure: no beer vendors to sell to you in the seats. Oh, and people doing the wave.)

[ Jane ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:30 PM

"Now, what he's got to do here, Jon, is he must move the bat in a way that sends the ball-- hard and fast-- to a sort of hole out there in outfield. And, now, what that's gonna do is advance the runner at third and give those guys a run. Which has been batted in."

Thanks for the strategery, JM. I hate you.

[ Liza ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:31 PM

I kind of love the Rays this year. They're so cute--why is it that I like AL East teams so much?

[ fc ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:32 PM

Au contraire - they do sell beer in the stands now!

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:32 PM

Sean!!!1!!one!

Ahem.

[ Liza ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:32 PM

By the way, TG, I posted a comment with a link and it said it'd be held for moderation. Is that cause of the link?

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:32 PM

WAIT. WHAT?!?! THEY SELL BEER IN THE STANDS?!?! THIS IS THE GREATEST DAY EVER! /caps lock off

[ Ian ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:33 PM

where's Boe Juck today.

[ Liza ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:33 PM

The return of E6 is successful. Good for him.

[ njdevils ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:33 PM

Liza, the same thing was happening to me yesterday. Whenever I tried to post a link it would say that same thing...

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:34 PM

Liza- it was marked as spam. You're a spammer!

(should show up OK now, though)

[ Jane ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:35 PM

Ellsbury, you ANIMAL!

[ Ian ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:35 PM

Anyone else smelling a double steal here.

[ Liza ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:35 PM

No, actually, I'm not wondering what the difference was...

And thanks, TG. (For anyone who cares, it's at 4:30.)

[ Ian ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:36 PM

I will say now that I may get quiet at 6 PM as I way our four legged horse friends run in a circle for 2 minutes.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:37 PM

watch not way. Get your head out of your ass Ian.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:38 PM

Le Preakness! Oui Oui!

I have yet to go to a Triple Crown race. We had a horsetrack about 10 minutes from our house in Houston, but I'd love to go to the Derby someday.

[ fc ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:38 PM

OK, now we'll get that double steal.

[ njdevils ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:38 PM

I'm sure everyone has seen it already, but this is what I was trying to post yesterday; it has a bunch of quotes from the rest of the team about Manny.

[ Liza ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:39 PM

I like horses, but I don't like racing much. See: Belles, Eight.

[ Jane ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:39 PM

Twice is nice.

P.S.- I think my Pawtucket game will be cancelled tonight. Which blooooooows.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:39 PM

For the trivia, I'm guessing 3. I have no idea who they would be- I'm saying 3.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:40 PM

Why don't you put Braun's (shitty) defensive stats up there, too, FOX?

[ Jane ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:41 PM

Texy, I said three too. It's a nice, safe number.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:42 PM

OK- I'm a BIG fan of the Phillies and the Cubs, and even *I* don't want to hear Tim talk about that game during this one.

Yay! I'm feeling cautiously optimistic!

[ Ian ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:43 PM

Dontrelle Willis won NL Rookie of the Year in 2003 and won the World Series with the Marlins that year.

[ Liza ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:44 PM

I'm optimistic. It's a lead, but it's not a 3-0 lead.

C'mon Manny!

[ fc ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:44 PM

Ellen, please control your unbridled enthusiasm.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:44 PM

in 1996 Derek Jeter won AL ROY and the world series.

[ Texas Gal ] says:

What a play o.o

[ Ian ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:46 PM

1991 Chuck I hit Oblermann's mom Knoblauch won teh AL ROY and the World Series.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:47 PM

Ellen: I looked at your blog. I say- go with the painting mantel, but get a display shelf/bookcase for the Sox stuff.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:47 PM

in 1985 vince coleman won the NL ROY but lost in the world series with the cardinals.

[ Jane ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:48 PM
Yay! I'm feeling cautiously optimistic!

That MUST go on a t-shirt. That's brilliant, Ellen!

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:48 PM

Cardinals suck.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:49 PM

1981 Fernando Valenzuela was NL ROY and won the World Series

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:49 PM

Hey, did I miss any great dugout celebrations after Papi's HR? I was sitting here at the computer hyperventilating. LOL...

[ Liza ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:49 PM

GO CARDINALS.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:50 PM

I sorta like the Cardinals myself. Sorry, TG!

[ Ian ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:50 PM

1976 Pat Zachry was co NL ROY and won the World Series with the Reds.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:50 PM

Cardinals DOUBLE suck.

(ecl- nope!)

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:51 PM

Saw the red-headed batboy behind Farrell, and for a second I wondered, "What's Bobby Kielty doing in the dugout?"

[ Jane ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:51 PM

Ian, I love your research updates. Thank you. :-)

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:51 PM

But, but...but I like Jose Alberto Pujols Alcantara very much. WAAAAAAAHHH! ;-)

[ Liza ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:51 PM

Rereading that comment I think it sounded kinda mean. Sorry about that. :)

But go Cardinals nonetheless.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:52 PM

And I stopped at 1970, i'm done researching.

Colon will be here. I'm calling it now.

[ Ellen ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:53 PM

Thanks, TG. The painting has already won out. :(

DH likes baseball but not so prominently displayed like that.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:53 PM

Is Big Papi afraid of Farrell? I was helping for some fun mocking.

[ Liza ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:53 PM

Colon will definitely be here Tuesday.

Nice one Dice-KK.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:53 PM

If it were me, I'd go with the Red Sox shrine Ellen.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:53 PM

Did you mean *hoping*, Ian? ;-)

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:54 PM

Alberto has the most beautiful eyes ever. But the Cardinals still suck. /Cubs fan

[ Ian ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:54 PM

This is a pretty good ad with Joe Torre.

[ Liza ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:54 PM

Ellen, I like the Sox stuff better too.

[ Ellen ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:54 PM

Ian, I will have a shrine in my studio when it's finished. Believe me.

[ jules ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:54 PM

Fox SUCKS! I'm writing *hate* mail to them in a moment. I'm late tuning in because I was helping my husband mill some lumber.

I'm stuck with the Dogders/Angles. Like I care. I was really looking forward to today's game. Fox is really ticking me off. I wish they'd allow for those who pay boatloads of money for EI to watch the game on their east coast feed.

[ fc ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:55 PM

ecl, don't you know the rules? You're supposed to wait for Ian to call himself an idiot and correct himself in a follow-up post.

[ Jane ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:55 PM

I kind of hope Bartolo starts with Pawtucket on Tuesday. For selfish reasons only. Because then I'd get to see him as they'll still be here in NEPA.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:55 PM

yes i did ecl.

I'm clearly having a bad day with my thoughts. Could be the hour of sleep i got because of my damn blog.

[ Ellen ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:55 PM

Me too, Liza. Me too.

[ Liza ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:55 PM

Pujols's name never fails to amuse me. I'm such a little kid.

Anyway. I do like the Cards. Pujols is good and I like Molina (the St. Louis one, that is), too.

[ fc ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:56 PM

Mikey is recovering from meeting me on Thursday.

[ Jane ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:57 PM

FC- You WHAT!? Do tell!

[ Liza ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:57 PM

Yay, they won!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:58 PM

Ahh, okay, TG, now I get it. I was wondering why you said they suck, considering that they just beat TB! I've never really been much on rivalries in general. I like the Cubs just fine (they're on TV a lot here). And yes, Big Al does have beautiful eyes. I like him in general, though. Great player, great humanitarian, good-looking man, what more could one ask for? Oh yeah...for him to be traded to the Cubs, right?

[ Liza ] says:
on May 17, 2008 4:58 PM

Oh, fc, did you go to the autograph thing?

St. Louis can suck it!

I will say that for Milwaukee: the night life is FABULOUS. The local talent (i.e. hot guy) ratio is really high, especially for a Midwestern city. Plus, they tailgate before all baseball games. And tailgate like it's a football game. AWESOME.

St. Louis is lame and their team is lame and their stadium is lame and their everything is lame. /Cubs fan. Except Ozzie - he rules.

Liza, I'm having trouble posting links, but you can copy, paste, and take out the spaces....I think you'll really like that video.

[ ecl1958 ] says:

Jane, I second that -- what was that, fc?

[ Liza ] says:
on May 17, 2008 5:00 PM

The stadium is lame, but it's a hallowed place since '04.

Also, I am so going to Holiday Inns from now on.

[ fc ] says:
on May 17, 2008 5:02 PM

Yes, I went to Mike's book sigining at the Pru. I'm such a silly fangirl - still get heart palpitations thinking about it.
Eye contact. ::sigh::

[ Jane ] says:
on May 17, 2008 5:03 PM

Did anyone else catch that? Braun handed the ball to Tek after he kind of dropped it. That was actually classy.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 17, 2008 5:03 PM

Jules, I'm checking something to see if you can watch the game online.

If you want to use a P2P network called tvants, I can give you a link to the game.

[ Bethie ] says:
on May 17, 2008 5:04 PM

Bob Uecker? Seriously??

This FOX broadcast gets more and more ineresting every second.

[ Piney61 ] says:
on May 17, 2008 5:04 PM

This may just be the most disturbing thing I've ever heard Uecker + McCarver + underwear/swimwear talk......there are some things I wish that I could unsee...this is one of them

[ Liza ] says:
on May 17, 2008 5:04 PM

Jane, I saw that! Good for him.

Oh, I'm jealous, fc! I was busy, so I couldn't go (although I really liked what I did otherwise--I was at an art auction where people bought my photographs!).

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on May 17, 2008 5:04 PM

Nice-K!

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 17, 2008 5:05 PM

Ueck does broadcasts for the Brew Crew- so I'm sure they just snagged him from the booth next door.

njdevils: I have no idea why you keep getting filtered as spam. The filters are set up to catch comments with MORE than 10 links... but I have no idea why, all of a sudden, it's catching you when you've just got one link.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on May 17, 2008 5:06 PM

fc, is Mikey as good-looking in person as he is on TV? Or is that a rhetorical question?

[ Ian ] says:
on May 17, 2008 5:06 PM

When are those fuckers going to answer the question I did the research for. I don't want to hear about the playing days of McCarver and Uecker. I was just sperm and/or egg then.

[ njdevils ] says:
on May 17, 2008 5:07 PM

That's alright, TG. I guess the filters just don't like me for some reason...

[ Jane ] says:
on May 17, 2008 5:07 PM

Liza- I'm impressed. Good kid.

FC- I'm jealous. I just picked up the book yesterday. And it may have been a bad idea as I'm falling more and more for Eyebrows McGee. He's so genuine. I just love him.

And eye contact!? Woooo, lucky dog!

[ Ellen ] says:
on May 17, 2008 5:07 PM

fc that is so cool that you went! I wanted to but went to a fishercats game instead.

[ Jane ] says:
on May 17, 2008 5:07 PM

Ian- Hahahahahahahaha!

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 17, 2008 5:08 PM

The best steroids commercial is still the one with the deflating balls.

[ Ellen ] says:
on May 17, 2008 5:08 PM

Eyebrows McGee? That is hilarious. He does have Groucho eyebrows from hell.

[ Liza ] says:
on May 17, 2008 5:09 PM

Easily agreed, TG. I love that one.

[ jules ] says:
on May 17, 2008 5:10 PM

It's weird--REALLY weird--to see Joe Torre in a Dodgers uni. Really weird.

Ian, I'm not going to be sitting at my computer much (that's why I wanted the game on TV, so I can watch it while I do things around the house).

[ Jane ] says:
on May 17, 2008 5:11 PM

Sean Casey. You little love. He's so sweet.

[ Liza ] says:
on May 17, 2008 5:16 PM

So I didn't yet bring myself to mute the broadcast... but I had to mute the Viagra commercial so I didn't get "VIVAAA VIAGRA" stuck in my head for the next week. It sure is awkward to have that running through your head...

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on May 17, 2008 5:16 PM

TG, I second that about those three shutting up. Good grief! Wouldn't it be nice if they showed the pitcher pitching to the batter once in awhile?

[ Liza ] says:
on May 17, 2008 5:18 PM

And again I still can only think of the Dugout strip...

[ Ian ] says:
on May 17, 2008 5:18 PM

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on May 17, 2008 5:18 PM

Ian or someone else...I was glued to the TV during our half of the inning. About Lugo, did I get that right, he hit himself with the ball and that's an out? Never saw that before. Please explain, kthx.

[ fc ] says:
on May 17, 2008 5:19 PM

Liza, I'm actually jealous of you, selling your own work. I'm an appreciator of the arts without any whisper of talent of my own. Nice going.

And I'll take any questions about how wonderful Mike is in person as rhetorical. :)

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 17, 2008 5:20 PM

If the ball hits a baserunner in fair territory, he's out. In this case, he hit the ball into himself.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 17, 2008 5:20 PM

mccarver just explained it.

the bunted ball was in fair territory and it hit him as he was running to first. thus making him out.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 17, 2008 5:21 PM

Ken - you couldn't play baseball because you were a short little fuck your wholelife. Just man up and admit it or just shut the fuck up.

Thank you and please come again.

[ njdevils ] says:
on May 17, 2008 5:21 PM

Jules, go here, download 'tvants' at the bottom, and click 'play stream' next to tvants to watch the game. It's about a minute behind, but that's better than nothing...

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 17, 2008 5:21 PM

I should clarify that it's a BATTED ball - a ball thrown by a defensive player that hits a baserunner doesn't make the baserunner out.

[ njdevils ] says:
on May 17, 2008 5:22 PM

Jules, go here, download 'tvants' at the bottom, and click 'play stream' next to tvants to watch the game. It's about a minute behind, but that's better than nothing...

Ian, don't pull that on me. Please.

Thanks, fc! It was the first time I'd exhibited them or anything so I was totally geeked out. It was for charity, so I didn't get any money out of it, but I was just excited that people liked them.

[ ecl1958 ] says:

Liza's work is fabulous, I can attest to that.

TG/Ian, thanks. Baseball never ceases to amaze me with its minutiae. It can seem so simple and straightforward for inning upon inning, then something happens that I never knew was in the rulebook!

He was so out.

[ Ellen ] says:
on May 17, 2008 5:29 PM

Liza, those last two photos are outstanding! I really like them.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 17, 2008 5:30 PM

If I was at Fenway now, I'd go up in the booth and beat the shit out of McCarver and then head to the field to do the same to Rosenfuck.

It would be so worth it for the GOOD OF THE GAME.

[ ecl1958 ] says:

Liza i responded to your comment on my blog about Kapler. To save you the click, this is what I said.

He’s a great guy. I hung out with him in 1998 at the Double-A All-Star Game we hosted here in New Haven at the All-Star Game Party we held.

[ Texas Gal ] says:

[ Liza ] says:

Whoa--Braun looks like Sam Fuld. Creepy.

[ ecl1958 ] says:

Ewwww...Ian, that reminded me of this creepy guy who I used to be acquainted with in real life. The first time I met him he pulled out his modeling pics, never mind that they from 20 years prior. Ugh.

[ Liza ] says:
on May 17, 2008 5:48 PM

Good. He needed an inning like that.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 17, 2008 5:50 PM

Johnny Damon for Halloween.

Don't bother asking how I know that.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 17, 2008 6:04 PM

I got my dinner all planned for tonight. Two cans of chef boyardee, some potatos and stuffing.

[ Liza ] says:
on May 17, 2008 6:04 PM

I'm in my pajamas still, does that count?

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 17, 2008 6:05 PM

My dinner? Beer.

[ Texas Gal ] says:

Let's go Sox :)

[ ecl1958 ] says:

[ Ellen ] says:

I expected him to charge the mound.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 17, 2008 6:26 PM

even rosenfuck's graphic is annoying.

I think he meant that Manny has been doing the same thing he's been doing every year but people are noticing it now because manny is talking to the media.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 17, 2008 6:31 PM

Ned Yost can go fuck a duck -- it'd take a lot more strike calls to make up for that DiceK-Lugo pickoff miscall.

[ Jane ] says:

[ Ellen ] says:

It coincides with the baseball exhibit

Dang it. I wanted Eric Gagme with a spoon since a fork will hurt.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 17, 2008 6:48 PM

I know where Mike Hoffman lives - he lives right across the street. He also likes to walk around shirtless all the time. No one objects.

Ryan Whitney could be it - I know Neighbor Hockey Dude isn't married, and I know he doesn't play for the Bruins.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 17, 2008 6:50 PM

what do I win if I was right?

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 17, 2008 6:50 PM

fc: HAVE FUN at the game! But not too much fun. Not as much as you're going to have tomorrow.

[ njdevils ] says:
on May 17, 2008 6:51 PM

Yes you did, Ian! I think your guess is right; most of the other people on the list are already retired.

TG, if it is Whitney, be sure to get an autograph--his team is going to play for the Stanley Cup if they beat the Flyers in this series (which they will!).

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on May 17, 2008 6:52 PM

fc, I'm so jealous!

Yeah Jacoby ftw!

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 17, 2008 6:52 PM

I keep telling my roomie we need to throw a party, just so we can invite Hockey Neighbor Dude and Mike "Mighty Ducks" Hoffman and any other eligible Scituate men that aren't 50 years old.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 17, 2008 6:52 PM

I'll take your lefty and show you a run mr yost. Thank you now sit your ass back down in t eh dugout.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 17, 2008 6:53 PM

I thought i already had your undying love for taking you to game 1 of the world series last year.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 17, 2008 6:55 PM

Nope. Your prize for the WS was getting to hear me holler for Josh. And also moving the trashcan out of the way 10 times.

[ fc ] says:

Insurance, yeah!

[ Ian ] says:

I like how he said he was an author, but the cover of the book clearly says it was written by Jon Goode and his wife. I'm kinda pissed JP is taking credit for writing that. Kinda.

Aw, hell.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 17, 2008 6:59 PM

[ fc ] says:

[ Bethie ] says:

I think everyone needed that.

[ Ellen ] says:
on May 17, 2008 7:01 PM

I'll be back for game 2.

[ Ian ] says:

[ fc ] says:

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 17, 2008 7:03 PM

(psst, Ian - they did announce the defensive replacements when they came back from commercial in the 9th)

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on May 17, 2008 7:03 PM

Ian, they did mention the defensive replacements. I heard them while I was away from the TV with the volume turned up.

[ Ian ] says:

[ ecl1958 ] says:

TG - GMTA. fc - have a great time!

Great job by our guys!

[ Ian ] says:
on May 17, 2008 7:05 PM

MY BAD. I think i tuned them out then.

It was a good rant though.

For those with NESN, Charlie Moore is fishing with Ted Nugent.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 17, 2008 7:05 PM

As ahnold would say, I'll be bach

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 17, 2008 7:06 PM

Thanks for the CN8 tip - I'm watching that while waiting for the Sox to come on again.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on May 17, 2008 7:06 PM

Ian, I bet you couldn't change channels fast enough, LOL. I know *I* couldn't, and I'm used to watching their lame-ass broadcasts because I, cough, cough, don't have NESN.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on May 17, 2008 7:07 PM

I'll be back too. Time to put on some music and do a week's worth of dishes. Fun fun fun!

[ Meghan ] says:
on May 17, 2008 7:37 PM

I'm just saying hi between games...I had to check the Preakness results (and I had the exacta!!! Woohoo!!!! Now my friends are probably going to try and make me pay for their beer tonight though:-P).

Anyways...I hope we get 8 IP Wakey tonight and not the 2.2 IP version!

[ jules ] says:
on May 17, 2008 7:51 PM

Hi All!

I'm glad our guys won. I kept an eye on it via gameday when I had time. I was out in the garage helping my husband with the jointer.

It's freakin' hot out here. 103. ugh. I'm done with summer ;-)

Here's hoping EI shows me the love tonight.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 17, 2008 8:13 PM

mother's day miracle is on NESN rigth now.

Kapler is playing left for hte brew crew in the 2nd game

[ Ellen ] says:
on May 17, 2008 8:14 PM

Just checking in. I wish I got CN8, but I don't have Comcast. Boo. The Fishercats game was really fun. I need to go to more of them. They're playing the SeaDogs this week.

NESN is showing the bottom of the 9th from the Mother's Day Miracle.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on May 17, 2008 8:14 PM

Ian, once again I am jealous of you NESN folks. I never got to see the Mother's Day Miracle, only read about it. Of course, that was before I jumped the fence, but now that I've done so I wish I could have seen it.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 17, 2008 8:18 PM

Back again shortly. time to make the fat kid in me happy with some food.

[ Bethie ] says:
on May 17, 2008 8:18 PM

I hope Wakey has a better start tonight than his last time out. I'll be lurking here for updates, cause I'm blocked out of anything fun here at work. So I'll be getting on everyone's nerves for score updates. :)

I'll apologize in advance.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on May 17, 2008 8:24 PM

Awww, Bethie, it's okay. We understand!

I had an epic FAIL where doing dishes was concerned and also managed to aggravate a painful medical condition that makes it difficult to sit down (long story), so will probably be listening more than posting, at least until I make progress with the dishes and can calm the pain down a bit.

[ njdevils ] says:

ECL, Click this!

[ njdevils ] says:
on May 17, 2008 8:29 PM

ECL, I've seen it (and I don't get NESN), so that means there's video somewhere on the Internet. I'll try to see if I can find it...

[ jules ] says:

Ok, those comments posted backwards somehow...
I think I lost Internet connection for a few minutes so the one didn't post until after the second one did, I think(?). Oh, well...

[ njdevils ] says:

[ jules ] says:

Ian...you're such a guy ;-)

The way to a man's heart is through is stomach.

That's gospel truth.

[ jules ] says:

WaKKKe!

[ Ian ] says:
on May 17, 2008 8:41 PM

is anyone else who has NESN having trouble adjusting to this camera angle after watching the other one on FOX today.

[ jules ] says:
on May 17, 2008 8:42 PM

nj...it's you!

Just kidding. I commented and the site hung, but it went through anyway.

I'm so happy I have Sox on TV.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 17, 2008 8:42 PM

Looks like Wake picked the red unis. Odd - I don't think he's ever picked to wear the red unis before. YoYo loved to wear the red unis.

[ Ellen ] says:
on May 17, 2008 8:44 PM

I like the red. It's hawt.

[ jules ] says:
on May 17, 2008 8:44 PM

Does the pitcher make that choice? I like the red unis. I want one.

Ian...yes. I'm *not* liking this camera angle at all. It feels too compressed.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 17, 2008 8:45 PM

I do, too, Ellen - it's just that the pitchers rarely choose to play in them. That makes them more speshul.

[ Ellen ] says:
on May 17, 2008 8:45 PM

I just bought tix for Tuesday's Fishercats v. SeaDogs.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 17, 2008 8:45 PM

Yes Jules, it's always the pitchers choice.

I wish they would go back to the old one and not show us the direct shot to the plate.

[ Ellen ] says:
on May 17, 2008 8:46 PM

I never knew the pitchers chose. Ya learn something new every game.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 17, 2008 8:46 PM

It's the decision of the starting pitcher.

[ jules ] says:
on May 17, 2008 8:47 PM

Thanks, Ian. I need a red Manny jersey.

I think we need to write NESN to complain about that camera angle. Maybe they'll ditch it like a lot of the sound effects.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on May 17, 2008 8:47 PM

Hey you guys, it wasn't just your computers. I couldn't get on here for about 15 minutes.

Wish I could see our guys wearing the red.

nj: Thanks for the link. At first I thought it was a link to today's game because Papi was at bat...then I looked at the score, LOL. Will hold that link for after this game!

[ Ian ] says:
on May 17, 2008 8:47 PM

Bush played in New Haven back in 2003 when I worked there not that anyone cares.

well they are the RED Sox.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on May 17, 2008 8:48 PM

Jules, a red Manny jersey was my most recent Sox purchase and is, so far, my favorite Sox item. I need to get a second one to wear when the first one is in the wash.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 17, 2008 8:49 PM

I have red and white girl-sized jerseys - but I never get them personalized with names.

I would kill for a road grey girl-sized jersey. Or a Casey shirt.

[ jules ] says:
on May 17, 2008 8:50 PM

Great post, Texy.

OK, I better throw some dinner together for the hungry crew.

YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUK!!!!

[ Ian ] says:
on May 17, 2008 8:50 PM

In the minor leagues, you will see teams where their alternate jerseys alot especially if they get on a winning streak.

[ choco ] says:
on May 17, 2008 8:51 PM

Mike Lowell is AMAZING.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 17, 2008 8:51 PM

[ Texas Gal ] says:

I said dinner was beer - but it's really beer and cheeze-its. HEALTHY!

[ Ian ] says:
on May 17, 2008 8:52 PM

I was just about to say what RemDawg said about the skipping past to the backstop as Lowell skips over to third.

Classic Orsillo right there

Oops, here I am talking about jerseys when I mean shirts. Much as I love the way they look, jerseys are out of my price range. :-(

[ Ellen ] says:

Mmmmm cheez-its.
