Heidi: cute sweater, but we don't "have a pretty good idea" who's going to be on the All-Star Team. This was just the first ballot.

[ fc ] says:
on May 27, 2008 9:48 PM

My favorite Heidi quote so far was from yesterday I think, when she said that Lugo's poor defensive performance was "something that he hopes to, kind of, get rid of."

[ Bethie ] says:
on May 27, 2008 9:49 PM

I have a question about that for people who would know better than me. I know the pitchers are selected by players and such for the All-star team. When do they announce who it will be? The same time as the others that are chosen?

[ Liza' ] says:
on May 27, 2008 9:56 PM

Hey guys. What was Heidi's sweater like?

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 27, 2008 9:56 PM

The AL managers will select the AL pitchers (and reserve players), NL managers select the NL pitchers (and reserves). Fan voting until July 2nd, rosters announced July 6 (which include pitchers and reserves, I think). Final spot on each team determined by fan vote.

[ jenny again ] says:
on May 27, 2008 9:57 PM

texy - you know everything! ;D (and thank god for that!)

[ Di ] says:
on May 27, 2008 9:57 PM

hi everyone, i get the strange feeling that I wont be able to watch the game on NESN tonight b/c they blocked the pregame report

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 27, 2008 9:58 PM

It's an argyle pattern, with a pretty kelly green, grey and white - sold kelly green sleeves. Very cute.

[ jenny again ] says:
on May 27, 2008 9:59 PM

i gotta admit, i KNEW it would be coco's turn in CF tonight, but my heart still sank when i saw NO ELLS in the lineup. D: D: D:

i am waaaaay too smitten. (cue embarrassment again.)

[ Di ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:00 PM

thank God, NESN just came on

[ Liza ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:02 PM

They blocked the pregame? Huh. I didn't tune in untli just now, but I've got the feed fine.

Definitely cute-sounding. I hope they show it.

Aw, Youk's not playing again. I do hope he's okay. (But in other news: SEAN!)

[ Ian ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:02 PM

I can't wait until they talk about Orsillo's chat on NESN today. I was dominating the questions. LOL. I had 11 questions answered.

[ fc ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:02 PM

Tex, Casey again!

[ Ian ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:03 PM

Nice montage here for Dice-K. They changed it up from the one they used on SportsDesk last night.

[ Di ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:03 PM

yeah Liza, it's the first time they've blocked the pregame report but shown the game. Usually if they block one then both are blocked. I don't know what is up with all this. I think if you pay the fee you should be able to watch the channels and programs you want

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:03 PM

Hey all! Here for just a little while tonight. I need to be sensible. Jenny, perhaps Jacoby will come in as a replacement later on.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:04 PM

I wonder if Youk would have played. he's 0-for-4 against Batista while Casey is hitting .313 against him

[ jenny again ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:05 PM

ecl - I CAN HOPE. meep. (OR I CAN GET OVER THIS. SHEESH.)

[ Liza ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:05 PM

Why is it that Seattle has gorgeous weather and Boston is disgustingly wet and humid?

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:05 PM

Sean! Sean! Sean! Sean! Sean! Sean! Sean! Sean! Sean! Sean! Sean! Sean! Sean! Sean! Sean! Sean! Sean! Sean! Sean! Sean! Sean! Sean! Sean! Sean! Sean! Sean! Sean! Sean! Sean! Sean! Sean! Sean!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:05 PM

Aaaahhh, why get over it, Jenny? It's FUN!

[ Jessi ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:05 PM

Ugh I just noticed that Jacoby isn't in the lineup. I always look forward to his ABs and plays in the outfield.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:06 PM

tacoby will probably come in for Manny since Manny only plays 8 innings a game now

[ jenny again ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:07 PM

jessi - right there with you, man. D:

[ Ian ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:07 PM

Just wait Liza, it's going to get cold up here in the Northeast at night the next few nights.

[ Bethie ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:07 PM

Thanks Texy! I knew you would know, cause like someone already said, you know everything! :)

[ fc ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:08 PM

Ian I'm guessing Tito is capitalizing on circumstance again. There's something real going on with Youk's hand but it sounds pretty minor. Plus he could probably use a rest by now.

The better to let him play in the games I'm at! :)

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:08 PM

It's cold out right now on the South Shore. I know, because my window's been open all afternoon, and now I'm getting a very cold wind blowing in.

[ Liza ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:08 PM

Good. Today was miserable.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:09 PM

The main thing is Youk's health so a day off is never a bad thing

[ Liza ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:10 PM

It's cooled down nicely now, but playing softball in muggy heat and pouring rain and sunshowers was not fun.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:11 PM

yeah it's finally cooled off down here as well and nice breeze coming in as well. almost blanket weather again

[ fc ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:11 PM

Whoa, someone REALLY likes her some Sean!

[ Ian ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:11 PM

I wonder how the ballplayers do it Liza

/sarcasm

[ Liza ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:12 PM

Yay Pleats

[ jenny again ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:12 PM

THAT'S my smug little bastard!!!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:12 PM

I shall make all of you New Englanders jealous by revealing that last night that I slept with my windows open for the first time this year. Ahhhh, heaven! And tonight will be the same. :-)

[ Di ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:12 PM

Ill trade weather with you guys. It's just hoooooootttt down here

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:12 PM

Sean who?

[ Meghan ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:14 PM

Aww the weather wasn't that bad today...reminded me of FL:-P

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:14 PM

Di, that's what's nice about living where I do. Not as hot as Florida, not as cold as New England.

Let's go Papi! clap clap clapclapclap

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:15 PM

Watching college baseball this weekend, I was reminded it was 95 and 100% humidity in Austin. And that's not even the gulf coast. That's when I remembered how awesome it is to live in New England.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:15 PM

There goes the train again...

[ Di ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:15 PM

yeah, you are lucky ecl

[ Liza ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:15 PM

I could never live anywhere south of, say, NYC. I can't stand humidity.

[ Di ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:15 PM

yeah, you are lucky ecl

[ Jessi ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:15 PM

I'm thinking it's time for Manny to get 499 ((crosses fingers))

[ Jane ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:16 PM

Hi all! Gaaaaametime.

C'mon Mannyyyyyy!

[ Ian ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:16 PM

Yo-Yo is actually pitching in the game for the Brewers after being signed this afternoon

[ Di ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:16 PM

I second that Jessi

[ fc ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:16 PM

OMG, the weather today! Several DOWPOURS.
I had an unbrella and in say a .25 mile walk from the T ended up looking like I had been thrown in the river. I might have just as well swam across the Charles.

[ Meghan ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:17 PM

Aww Jerry that's not true, Dustins got some wheels!

[ jenny again ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:17 PM

hey now, manram. clutch now, manram!

[ Ian ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:18 PM

well fc it would have some money

[ njdevils ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:18 PM

I might not be around here for too long tonight; I'm going to try to go to bed somewhat early (but everyone knows that's not going to happen...).

[ Ian ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:20 PM

y'all with going to bed early. That's why we have caffeine.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:20 PM

Di, we do get pretty nasty heat and humidity around August. Nothing compared to "down the mountain," though, as Bethie can attest to. The NC/SC Piedmont is brutal in the summer.

[ Meghan ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:20 PM

The worst part of the rain today for me...I had to take a bus from Cambridge to Allston, and there was rusty, greasy dart water leaking from random spots in the ceiling. i was so happy I wasn't wearing light colored clothing, because it would have been ruined. Sometimes I really hate the MBTA.

Where is the new 12 second rule???

[ Jessi ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:20 PM

njdevils, haha that's my plan. I'll probably just end up watching the game from my bed. God I hate west coast games.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:21 PM

I am NOT going to bed early. I have a whole season of Lost to watch tonight.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:21 PM

doesn't apply wih runners on base meghan

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:22 PM

If I had NESN I'd be watching from bed. (sigh)

[ Liza ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:23 PM

Meghan, my train home just stopped in the station for about ten minutes, so I'll echo the "sometimes I hate the MBTA" sentiment. At least it had AC, though...

[ Ian ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:23 PM

I'll probably go to bed about my normal time of 2 AM, get up at 8:30 write the morning post, take my morning nap, wake up and do a few things, then take my afternoon siesta so I am refreshed for when the late game starts again tomorrow night

[ Ian ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:24 PM

throw strikes DICE-K please

[ fc ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:24 PM

Baseball, caffeine, Lost - THESE are people with their priorities in order.

[ Jessi ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:24 PM

I'd give anything to actually have NESN - I had to pay $90 to watch mlb.tv. It doesn't show all the good stuff (like pregame shows ) and I hate the delay; by the time I see something happen in the game, there's already 10 posts about it.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:25 PM

Ian, you are such a man of leisure!

[ Bethie ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:25 PM

Well, at least I got to see a hit in the first. Thanks wee one.

I'm heading out. Hi and Bye everyone!

(Pssst...Red Sox. Waking up this morning to the news of a win was really cool. Could we do it again? please and thank you!)

[ Liza ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:25 PM

I... will get to bed around the end of the game (whenever that will be), wake up at 6:30, and sleep through Spanish class tomorrow. Like I did last night.

[ Di ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:25 PM

I feel your pain with the humidity ecl

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:26 PM

Night Bethie. I won't be far behind you.

[ Liza ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:26 PM

Oh, Dicey.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:26 PM

It's tough being me I know

[ fc ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:27 PM

Dice-K is usually good at fielding. I don't get it.

[ Jessi ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:27 PM

I'll probably get to bed in an hour and wake up around 5:30...fun.

Damn it Dice K.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:28 PM

Di, at least we don't get the heat indices of 105+. It's just muggy and in the upper 80s/low 90s here, which bad enough, as I have MS and am heat intolerant. The mountains are the only place in the South where I can live...although there's a part of me that is starting to think about moving back up North.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:28 PM

Yeah i didn't get that at all fc. Take the out, the offense will get you runs against Batista

[ fc ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:29 PM

Let's see...I'll go to bed after the game, actually fall asleep several hours later, the alarm will go off at 7:00, I'll plead with it until 8:30, get to work by 9:30 and go face-first on my keyboard until my second mug of coffee.

[ Jessi ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:30 PM

Not cool.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:30 PM

Nick Cafardo says Youk will play tomorrow night.

He also said the red sox activated bobby kielty from the DL in Pawtucket and sent him to Lancaster.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:30 PM

LOL, fc. I am made of face plant until I have my coffee too.

[ Liza ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:31 PM

Yay Kielty. I'm glad he's coming back.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:32 PM

DAMN. Very un-Coco like.

[ Liza ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:32 PM

Aww, Coco. That was close.

[ fc ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:33 PM

That was very un-Coco-like.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:33 PM

sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeit.

[ kristina ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:33 PM

hello everyone...what a long day...yay for baseball though....

[ Jessi ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:33 PM

Damn Coco, what happened?

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:33 PM

(sigh)

[ jenny again ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:33 PM

not gonna say jacoby would've had that ... not gonna say jacoby would've had that ...

[ Ian ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:34 PM

oh just say it jenny

[ Jessi ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:34 PM

Ok I'm gonna attempt to watch the game from my bed but probably just fall asleep. I'll be expecting a win in the morning. Night!

[ jenny again ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:34 PM

JACOBY WOULD'VE HAD THAT.

(i feel so dirty.)

[ Liza ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:35 PM

Dice-K

[ jenny again ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:35 PM

dice-K! thank god.

[ blood and whiskey ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:35 PM

*is not watching game*
that was soooo un-Coco like.
;]

hi everyone. my internet connection is hopeless here, so I'm left to whatever y'all are saying to get me through the game.

[ fc ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:36 PM

Y'know if it was anyone else we'd say COCO would've had that.

[ Liza ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:37 PM

Hey B&W! Does Washington have this crazy weather too?

[ Di ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:37 PM

oooh i just saw Heidi's sweater

[ kristina ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:37 PM

well at least that innings over

[ jenny again ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:37 PM

dice-KK!

ok, bats, let's go get those runs right back.

[ Meghan ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:38 PM

Maybe Coco is getting a bit rusty from not playing every day...:-P

[ Jane ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:38 PM

Awww. Dice-K has a friend in the stands! That's sweet.

Now pitch.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:38 PM

it's probably pouring down that way Liza as the Yanks-Oreos game is in a rain delay as well as the Phillies.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:39 PM

maybe he should try using a rust remover meghan.

[ fc ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:39 PM

Meet Meghan, Coco's agent.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:39 PM

sweet. baby sox (portland) at 6 PM tommorrow night on NESN.

[ Liza ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:41 PM

I am absurdly excited to see the Sea Dogs. Yay for Baby Sox.

[ Meghan ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:42 PM

Haha I was just joking.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:42 PM

I hope RemDawg gets all over Orsillo for this question and answer from today's chat that I aasked.

beisbolct (16:45): Since you think you can dance, who would win a dance-off, you or Pedroia?

Don Orsillo (16:45): Based on seeing Dustin dance in person during the Mike Lowell Foundation Dancing with the Stars, I am going to say that without question I am a better dancer!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:42 PM

Okay, c'mon Sean...do something.

[ blood and whiskey ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:43 PM

It was awfully humid, no sun, and a few showers.
what was it like back north?

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:43 PM

...or not.

[ Liza ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:44 PM

Pretty much the same but add in sun.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:44 PM

the weather here blew chunks today

[ Ian ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:45 PM

we had cool and rain in the morning, warm and sticky during the early afternoon and then storms again. now cool

[ Ian ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:46 PM

is 25th hundred a word? since that's what remdawg said for 2500 NESN broadcasts.

[ Liza ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:46 PM

Manny Ramirez: silver glove fielder

[ fc ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:46 PM

Manny making his bid for the gold glove.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:47 PM

Manny may have lost his gold glove in oakland when he was afraid the van was going to hit him.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:48 PM

Oh mang...that van. Too weird.

[ blood and whiskey ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:48 PM

I'd have dropped the ball too! That bus..damn.

[ jenny again ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:49 PM

much quicker inning, many fewer pitches out of the strike zone. good job, dice-KK.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:49 PM

it'd have even been better if the horn in the van actually beeped at him.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:50 PM

he's now retired 4 of the last 4 batters he faced. these guys need some rest

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:50 PM

(cracking up at Ian)

Okay guys, this is my last half inning...DO SOMETHING!

[ jenny again ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:50 PM

oh, lugie. SADFACE.

[ fc ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:51 PM

The real problem was that the van was leering at him. LEERING.

[ blood and whiskey ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:51 PM

as long as it didn't scream profanities through it's crazy-ass grin at him..

[ Ian ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:51 PM

suck it up suck it up suck it up

/peanut gallery

[ Ian ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:52 PM

it's a simple game really.

see ball. hit ball. run like the dickens

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:53 PM

Okay Coco, that's a start...

[ Ian ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:55 PM

Yo-Yo worked an inning for the Brewers tonight retiring all 3 batters he faced including 1 strikeout.

Why couldn't he do that with the Sox?

[ blood and whiskey ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:56 PM

alright, I should probably go to bed.
I have a super-duper-fantastic tour of Mt. Vernon tomorrow, and have to get up at 6 to go.

have fun everyone.
-oh, before I go, since I'm that deprived, what's the score? inning?
*pathetic grin*

[ Ian ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:56 PM

2-0 M's top of 3

[ Lyndsay ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:57 PM

awwww wouldja look at that, Youkilis and Jacoby sitting on the bench, spitting sunflower seeds. too cute.

I have a feeling I will be saying "GODDAMN ICHIRO!" more than a few times in this game.

[ blood and whiskey ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:57 PM

merci, merci.
bonsoir!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:58 PM

Au revoir, b&w!

[ Ian ] says:
on May 27, 2008 10:59 PM

oy vei papi

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:00 PM

Dammit.

And with that, au revoir to me as well. Must. Get. Sleep. Enjoy the rest of the game, y'all...and could you please tell Manny I want to see news of 499 when I wake up in the morning? thx

[ Ian ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:00 PM

when you go to Mt. Vernon look for the secret tunnel like in National Treasure: Book of Secrets, which rocked by the way.

[ Liza ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:01 PM

¡Adiós y mucho sueño!

[ fc ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:01 PM

Oh for the love of...

[ Di ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:02 PM

i wanted to see that movie but I can never find anyone to go with me.

[ jenny again ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:02 PM

nice sweater, heidi!

[ Liza ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:02 PM

Heidi's sweater is really cute.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:02 PM

at least heidi doesn't have the Jessica Simpsonho curls going on tonight. And even I like the plaid.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:03 PM

it's out on DVD now Di. I've watched it a few times since last Tuesday.

[ fc ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:03 PM

Not plaid. Argyle.
Get it right dammit.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:04 PM

i'm a guy. that's plaid to me :D

[ Di ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:05 PM

i will have to add it to my netflix

[ Liza ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:05 PM

I loved the first National Treasure movie, but I still haven't seen the second. Riley's my favorite Disney character ever.

Agreed--those curls did not look good on her.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:06 PM

Plaid = horizontal & vertical
Argyle = diagonal

[ Ian ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:06 PM

the bigger question to me is does she have the matching bran and panties as well as socks.

/typical guy answer

[ Lyndsay ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:06 PM

come on, Dice, let's try to get thru the 2nd inning in less than 30 minutes, mm k? chop chop!

[ Di ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:06 PM

what the fuck was that?

[ njdevils ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:06 PM

Ian, I can't see the sweater, but I probably would have said plaid, too. I'm not much of a fashion expert. :P

[ Lyndsay ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:06 PM

what in the fuck was THAT?

[ fc ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:06 PM

WTF? WTF?
Is this 3 Stooges? Keystone Cops?

[ jenny again ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:06 PM

YIKES that was uglypants.

[ Liza ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:06 PM

Wow. That was... comical.

[ Jane ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:07 PM

OOOOOWWWW. That was ugly.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:07 PM

it's not bran Ian. lay off the doughnuts so your hands won't get fat.

/doesn't actually eat doughnuts

damn Casey. it's ok though because it was a good throw home

[ kristina ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:07 PM

ummmm...WTF

[ Ian ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:08 PM

Not only does Texy answer questions about the all-star selection process, she explains fashion.

Thanks texy, you're the bestest.

[ Liza ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:08 PM

Pleats!

[ Ian ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:08 PM

they call me Super Pleats

[ jenny again ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:08 PM

HOLY SHIT DUSTIN PEDROIA. AGAIN.

[ Liza ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:09 PM

Haha--I didn't know the difference between plaid and argyle before that explanation either.

Yay Coco!

[ Di ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:09 PM

now that was typical Crisp

[ fc ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:09 PM

Nice outs, boys, but I'm not enjoying this yet.

[ kristina ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:09 PM

nice Pleats and Coco

[ jenny again ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:09 PM

so much wacky-bad defense and so much good defense all in one inning! head explode-y!

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:10 PM

Fugly play followed by two purty plays.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:10 PM

i should know that though. I own multiple pairs of argyle sox. of course i don't think i've ever worn them.

[ jenny again ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:11 PM

11:10 p.m.: jenny gets her third diet coke.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:11 PM

speaking of netflix, i need to return movies to blockbuster tomorrow. i guess i'll have to cut out the morning nap.

[ Liza ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:11 PM

I'm pretty sure I don't own any plaid items, but I might have a pair of argyle socks. Or maybe a scarf or something.

Also, hey, Texy--you're a Cubs fan. You know Sam Fuld, right?

[ fc ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:12 PM

But Ian, do you have the matching...oh never mind.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:12 PM

you think mikey wants manny to hit his 500th home run so he doesn't have to wait while they switch out balls.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:12 PM

Argyle will always have diamonds and diagonal lines. Plaid will always have horizontal and vertical lines. Tartan can be either argyle or plaid. /part-Scottish ancestry

[ Di ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:13 PM

ok someone just needs to take the little man out

[ kristina ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:13 PM

aww jenny...diet coke is my friend, right after coffee

[ Ian ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:13 PM

who says I wear underwear fc. ;)

I'm half scottish probably why my answer was plaid.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:14 PM

I think ichiho and coco are having a sliding contest out there on the catches.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:14 PM

jenny: I drink way, way, WAY too much Diet Coke.

Liza: yup. Saw his Wrigley debut last year.

[ jenny again ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:14 PM

whoa, hey, blink-and-you'll-miss-us, eh boys?

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:15 PM

psst, Ian: both plaid and argyle are Scottish.

[ kristina ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:16 PM

i have lots of argyle socks....and i admit, i wear them all the time

[ Ian ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:16 PM

I think remdawg might be done reading promos tonight.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:17 PM

Psst Texy: Thanks.

[ jenny again ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:17 PM

i am never going to get tired of them running that lester/mobile promo and shooting wicked live close-ups to go with the promos. eeeeeeeep.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:17 PM

This game is making me angry.

[ Liza ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:17 PM

Ooh, I'm jealous. I kind of love him. But since I hadn't really heard of him until recently, do you know why he might be hitting so poorly lately (aside from the sore thumb, I think it was)?

[ jenny again ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:18 PM

first pitch strikes! the key to life, the universe, and everything!

[ Ian ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:19 PM

how can you kind of love him. Either you do or you don't. It's pretty simple.

/smacks self for being a wiseass so no one else has to do it.

[ Liza ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:20 PM

Hush, Ian. It's a teenagerism.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:21 PM

ahhhhhhhh this breeze feels so good after all the stickiness today

[ Ian ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:22 PM

yesssssssssss here we go. let's see if they talk about my questions

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:22 PM

He's not ever really been that stellar of a hitter. He was .300 in A ball, and sub-.300 in AA and AAA (hovering around .270 or so). His calling card is his defense, though - he's a GRINDER. He's GRITTY.

[ njdevils ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:24 PM

Ian, I think what Liza is trying to say is kind of like the "We Sorta Did" commericals. I speak teenager, so I understood it right away, but it's hard to explain.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:24 PM

i think i may have been put in my place by a teenager.

Jury ruling: Yes Ian you were.

[ Liza ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:25 PM

But he pulls off the GRIT with panache, no? Plus brains. He's going for his master's in stats from Stanford (which is the thing that really gets me...).

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:25 PM

ERIK BEDARD SCARES ME. There, I said it.

[ njdevils ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:25 PM

Liza- 1
Ian- 0

[ Ian ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:26 PM

Oh yes Texy I have to agree. he's been a red sox killer.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:26 PM

I use "grinder" and "gritty" in the Eckstein/Pedroia/Theriot sense. Because he's kind of wee.

[ Liza ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:27 PM

Erik Bedard is awesome. I'm secretly glad he's out of our division so I can admire him with slightly less guilt.

[ fc ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:27 PM

This game is depressing.

[ Di ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:27 PM

very fc

[ Ian ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:28 PM

Look how RED Orsillo is from that!!

That's awesome RemDawg!!! The double fisted salute!!!

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:28 PM

Who's that who just got a hit?

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:29 PM

E6 - GIDP? Now there's a shocker!

[ Ian ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:29 PM

what a fucking shocker. Yet another Lugo double play

[ jenny again ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:29 PM

BISCUITS, JULIO LUGO! BISSSSSSCUITS! YOU AND YOUR RALLY-KILLING WAYS!!!

[ Ian ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:29 PM

That was your secret lover Texy.

[ Meghan ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:29 PM

"Do you know who I am? I''m the Remdawg! I'm the president of Red Sox Nation!"

Hahahahahaha. That's the best thing about this game so far:-(

[ Liza ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:29 PM

He's 5'11''. That's like... four inches taller than I am (and Pleats is).

[ Ian ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:30 PM

Jenny were any keys hurt in the typing of that comment.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:30 PM

I'm not liking this. the brain trust on the mound

[ Ian ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:31 PM

RUT ROH RAGGIE. This isn't good.

[ Piney61 ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:31 PM

Hey all. I know long time no see and all that jazz. I've been trying to get a social life...not working lately. :P Anyways I kinda hate this game.

[ kristina ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:31 PM

dam DP Lugo.....where's Jed

[ Liza ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:31 PM

Hand painfully on hip = scary.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:32 PM

and we'll step asi---- commercial.

at least let donnie o finish what he was saying mr producer.

[ kristina ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:32 PM

uhh ohhh...this doesn't look good

[ Ian ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:32 PM

Jed's resting his sore wrist in Pawtucket

[ Liza ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:33 PM

Yeesh... I hope it wasn't the fall.

[ Di ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:33 PM

I miss Jed

[ jenny again ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:34 PM

i'm fretful about this. i heart dice-kk. a lot.

[ Liza ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:34 PM

Jed jammed his wrist a week and a half ago and hasn't played anything except first base coach since.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:34 PM

He's not 5'11. Not anywhere close. Theriot is taller than him, and that's not sayin' much. I think the Cubs even list him at 5'9 or 5'10, to be generous. I bet he's 5'7... maybe 5'8. Now, that's still taller than me, mind you.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:35 PM

SEAN CASEY: DO NOT BREAK OUR PITCHERS.

Although, the shot of Dice lounging like a pinup model on the dirt is cute.

[ jenny again ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:35 PM

nice work, aardsmer. way to not panic.

[ Liza ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:36 PM

Really? Ha! That means he's about an inch taller than me. And that he suffers from Pleatsyndrome.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:36 PM

it definitely looked like he got a good jolt of pain on the last batter he faced.

[ Di ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:36 PM

I think we found our January model for next year's calendar

[ jenny again ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:36 PM

texy - excellent call on that s-curve shot. ;D

[ Liza ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:37 PM

He did look very comfortable there.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:37 PM

Heidi, Di??

[ Meghan ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:38 PM

Ya know, Yu Darvish, who many consider to be THE next big Japanese pitcher did do a "pictorial" for a woman's magazine last year...

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:38 PM

An inch is still taller. Therefore, it still works. Of course, I'm the 5'4 girl who has a 6'0 minimum for guys I date... because I'm selfish like that.

Also, he is precious. And very geekily excited about being a ballplayer in Cubbie pinstripes.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:39 PM

here's the latest on Dice-K for those of you keeping score at home.

Sox publicist Henry Mehegan has gone down to the clubhouse to get word.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:39 PM

Nothing wrong with that at all Texy.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:40 PM

I have a height requirement too. Don't be taller than me at 6'4

[ Meghan ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:41 PM

Inch taller= can't wear heels. And that's no fun at all.

I'm 5'4" too and have never dated a guy under 6'2"...although I don't have a "minimum" it just has always worked out that way:-P

[ Liza ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:41 PM

I'm 5'7'', which is good, because I can't walk (much less even stand up) in heels.

He is, he is! As previously stated, I kind of love him. And he was a Sox fan growing up...

What the hell, Lugo???

[ Ian ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:41 PM

Come on boys. The Rays lost. Let's go. Wake them bats up.

RUT ROH. Adios E-6

[ Meghan ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:42 PM

Aw shit.

[ fc ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:42 PM

There are bad vibes flying around that field.

[ kristina ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:42 PM

ummm...what just happened

[ Liza ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:42 PM

What is this even about? Check swing?

Lugo, SHUT UP. Right now.

[ Jane ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:42 PM

What... the hell?

[ Ian ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:43 PM

yesssssssss. get him TITO

[ Liza ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:43 PM

Ohhh no.

Tito, SHUT IT.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:43 PM

HERE WE GO.

[ Liza ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:43 PM

Anyone here read lips?

[ jenny again ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:43 PM

...

[ Meghan ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:43 PM

Bye bye Tito.

This game fucking sucks (not that I'm all that pissed Lugo is gone though...)

[ Jane ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:43 PM

Noooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:43 PM

Youk looks really confused.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:44 PM

Youk has that WTF just happened look on his face.

[ Di ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:44 PM

ok someone needs to tell me why lugo was thrown out

[ Ian ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:44 PM

Tito called him a cocksucker

[ Jane ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:44 PM

What the shiiiiiiiit???????????

[ Di ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:45 PM

God I love Tito but what did lugo do? I missed it

[ Ian ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:45 PM

apparently lugo said something about the check swing call to the 3b umpire. he didn't like what Lugo said so he threw his ass out.

Tito got rung for calling him a cocksucker. then pretty much called him every name in the book

[ Liza ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:45 PM

Di, Lugo muttered something about a checked swing call.

[ Di ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:45 PM

i don't like this game....I want my mommy

[ kristina ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:45 PM

i don't get it...but apparently I'm not the only one....too bad I missed what Tito was saying

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:45 PM

E6 was arguing a checkswing call with the field ump (seriously), and got tossed.

[ Di ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:46 PM

i don't like this game...I want my mommy

[ Ian ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:46 PM

The real reason why Tito got thrown out:

He wanted to go in and check on Dice-K.

[ Di ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:46 PM

sorry about the double post

[ kristina ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:46 PM

thanks Ian...nice Tito

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:46 PM

I don't know that I've ever seen a SS get tossed while in the field for arguing a checkswing non-call on the opposing team.

[ Liza ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:46 PM

What is up with Remy's pants in that Sovereign Bank commercial? That's almost as bad as the Pleats one.

[ Di ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:47 PM

thanks for the recap

[ Liza ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:47 PM

That was definitely an odd chain of events. Jeez.

[ fc ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:48 PM

Can Mikey do another one of those exorcisms?

[ Di ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:48 PM

I feel like I need to curl into a ball and rock myself

[ Liza ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:49 PM

Ha--Remy had an encounter with Tim McClellan!

[ Ian ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:50 PM

UMPIRE: Call me a Cocksucker and you’re out of here

TITO: COCKSUCKER

[ fc ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:50 PM

Can't Sean make everything right?

[ Liza ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:50 PM

Thanks Ian. That's pretty brilliant.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:52 PM

I can't take credit for that. It comes from the greatest baseball movie ever to go along with Field of Dreams.

Drumroll please.........

Bull Durham

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:52 PM

BOO! KEVIN COSTNER SUCKS! Clearly, you meant to say "The Natural" and "Major League".

[ Ian ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:52 PM

And i've actually been to the old Durham Athletic Park to seee the Durham Bulls play.

[ Liza ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:52 PM

I meant the reference. :P

[ Ian ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:53 PM

Hey look!!! An E-6 not by our shortstop

[ Liza ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:54 PM

Bentancourt's taking up the role of E6 in this game.

[ Jane ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:54 PM

Ian- haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:54 PM

No one can ever take away the role of E6 from E6.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:54 PM

clearly i did say that. Although I never said i liked kevin costner. :D

Major League goes in my top 3 as well.

[ Meghan ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:55 PM

Come one Manny. Tie this shit.

[ kristina ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:55 PM

[ Liza ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:56 PM

But YAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!

[ jenny again ] says:

[ Di ] says:

[ Liza ] says:

Now there's the swing we're used to. GOOD.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 27, 2008 11:57 PM

[ kristina ] says:

[ Ian ] says:
on May 28, 2008 12:00 AM

sorry fc. eSpresso.

Everyone awake again now??

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 28, 2008 12:00 AM

My pet peeve? People using "begging the question" incorrectly. And misused possessive vs. plural. And txtspeak. I have a lot of peeves.

[ fc ] says:
on May 28, 2008 12:00 AM

Di I thought you meant "That Weird Night at Safeco Field."

[ Liza ] says:
on May 28, 2008 12:00 AM

I've been awake. Since my second-period nap in Spanish class, that is (which looks to repeat itself tomorrow).

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 28, 2008 12:01 AM

I used to nap in Physics. Because that shit was BORING.

[ Di ] says:
on May 28, 2008 12:01 AM

well that does scare me and I know I'm not alone in that but The Strangers fascinates and scares me at the same time.

[ fc ] says:
on May 28, 2008 12:01 AM

DON'T GET ME STARTED on apostrophes in plurals.
And in the possessive "its."

It's been a long difficult life.

[ Ian ] says:

I used to nap in first period study hall

[ Liza ] says:
on May 28, 2008 12:03 AM

My biggest pet peeves = misplaced apostrophes, its/it's, your/you're, they're/their/there, WEN PPl tYPE lYKE DiS bC dEY thiNK itSZ COOl OR SOMEthiNG.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 28, 2008 12:03 AM

and then again in third period study hall and

[ Di ] says:
on May 28, 2008 12:03 AM

I was too scared to sleep in class because of all the things my teachers would do to those who slept in class

[ Ian ] says:
on May 28, 2008 12:03 AM

Manny MAnny

[ fc ] says:
on May 28, 2008 12:03 AM

WOW.

Manny IS THE MAN

[ Meghan ] says:
on May 28, 2008 12:04 AM

The Stangers would be a movie I'd see after a few drinks, because I would probably find it more amusing than scary then. And maybe not remember the scary parts anyway.

Manny with the assist!!!!

[ Liza ] says:
on May 28, 2008 12:04 AM

Manny!!!

Ian, what makes it worse is that Spanish class could easily be mistaken for study hall. Except I do have a big Spanish test on Thursday.

[ jenny again ] says:
on May 28, 2008 12:04 AM

oh manny's little smile. so pleased with himself! so humble.

[ kristina ] says:
on May 28, 2008 12:04 AM

gold glove Manny

[ Jane ] says:
on May 28, 2008 12:05 AM

I just screamed. Got yelled at by my sleeping family. Then we watched the replays together and danced a little.

499!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

[ Di ] says:
on May 28, 2008 12:05 AM

I'm right there with you Liza, i work with a girl who writes like that. The sad thing is I don't think she realizes that it's incorrect

[ jenny again ] says:
on May 28, 2008 12:05 AM

why HULLO there MDC ... ;D

[ Ian ] says:
on May 28, 2008 12:05 AM

why do y'all think i correct myself when i use the wrong word like you're when i mean your.

it irks me. usually it's just a matter of the fingers being faster than the brain.

[ fc ] says:
on May 28, 2008 12:05 AM

I used to skip homeroom so I'd be on the absentee list, so I could pick and choose which classes to go to.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 28, 2008 12:05 AM

Bad apostrophes bug, but no matter how much they're (their :) misused, they're still incorrect. Begging the question misuse REALLY bugs, because people have misused it so much, it's now starting to take on the misused meaning as some kind of alternate "modern" use. Horseshit.

MANNY! GOLD GLOVE AND SILVER SLUGGER!

[ Ian ] says:
on May 28, 2008 12:06 AM

I couldn't sleep in Spanish class. My Spanish teacher was smoking hot.

[ kristina ] says:
on May 28, 2008 12:06 AM

if i slept in class...i'd probably get fired

[ fc ] says:
on May 28, 2008 12:06 AM

Oh, and then go to physics which was taught by my homeroom teacher so he'd know I was late and wouldn't be looking for an absence note from mom.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 28, 2008 12:07 AM

lol fc. did you have to sneak past Officer Ron

[ Liza ] says:
on May 28, 2008 12:07 AM

My school's superduper strict. If you skip, you get an in-school suspension. So I don't skip. Plus, I like most of my classes... but my Spanish teacher doesn't actually teach us anything so I just sleep and yell snarky comments from the back of the class and I still have a 100 average in that class.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 28, 2008 12:08 AM

kristina: hah! My mom teaches 2nd grade, and I've often told her that naptime would be awesome... for teachers.

[ Di ] says:
on May 28, 2008 12:08 AM

meghan, i have a love/hate relationship with scary movies. I have to watch them in the daytime with people around me.

[ Liza ] says:
on May 28, 2008 12:09 AM

My Spanish teacher is hideous. My friend's Spanish teacher, on the other hand... whoo.

Sean!

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 28, 2008 12:09 AM

Casey flashing the leather. HEART.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 28, 2008 12:09 AM

nice catch sean

[ Ian ] says:
on May 28, 2008 12:10 AM

can the next person who gets up grab me a bottled water out of the fridge?

thanks.

[ fc ] says:
on May 28, 2008 12:10 AM

It's sneaking around that'll tip them off.
Stand tall, walk proud.

[ Di ] says:
on May 28, 2008 12:11 AM

well if you ever need help with spanish I am a fluent speaker

[ kristina ] says:
on May 28, 2008 12:12 AM

tex, i have been trying to institute nap time for three years...the kids just don't want to sleep.....nice catch sean =)

[ Di ] says:
on May 28, 2008 12:12 AM

i miss nap time

[ Meghan ] says:
on May 28, 2008 12:13 AM

Di- That pretty much how I am. I really love watching them. But the ones that are somewhat "realistic" (like serial killer shit...not supernatural) freak me out occasionally because I am a loser:-P

[ Liza ] says:
on May 28, 2008 12:13 AM

Seriously, Di? Here's a question--what does "Por un lado ___, pero por otro lado ____" mean? Is it like "On one hand ___, but on the other hand ____"? (It would be really nice if my teacher actually told us what the words mean.)

Sean is just doing everything tonight!

[ fc ] says:
on May 28, 2008 12:14 AM

Atta boy Sean!

[ Ian ] says:
on May 28, 2008 12:14 AM

scary movies are the shit.

House of 1000 Corpses

[ Jane ] says:
on May 28, 2008 12:14 AM

Sean, I love you.

[ Di ] says:
on May 28, 2008 12:14 AM

yeah, anything that was inspired by true events freak me out but I still want to see them

[ Liza ] says:
on May 28, 2008 12:15 AM

I've never been interested by scary movies. They don't scare me but they don't entertain me, either.

[ Di ] says:
on May 28, 2008 12:15 AM

literal translation is "on one side____, but on the other side_____" but yes you are right

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 28, 2008 12:15 AM

I f-love horror movies. None of my friends do. So I wait til they're on DVD, and then watch them at night. Alone. In the dark. It's awesome.

[ Liza ] says:
on May 28, 2008 12:16 AM

Thanks, Di. I figured, but I wanted to check (like if it was one of those "embarazada" things, you know).

[ Di ] says:
on May 28, 2008 12:16 AM

i don't think I could watch house of 1000 corpses. I would have to be really really really drunk and I wouldn't be able to sleep alone

[ fc ] says:
on May 28, 2008 12:16 AM

I'm a total weenie. You will not ever get me to go to a scary movie. Of any kind. Ever.

But shhh, it's bad for my badass image.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 28, 2008 12:16 AM

OK, here's the plan:
We're going to get some hits.
We're going to score a run. Or two.
We're not going to make any errors (thanks to E6 being gone).
We're not going to throw meatballs up the middle of the plate.

[ Meghan ] says:
on May 28, 2008 12:17 AM

I love the really campy ones...like the ones I could imagine MS3TK making fun of years from now.

[ Liza ] says:
on May 28, 2008 12:17 AM

Sounds like a plan.

HEAR THAT LAST ONE, MDC?

Okay. That one was good. Good.

[ njdevils ] says:
on May 28, 2008 12:17 AM

I'm going to see my first R-rated movie tomorrow (with my parents' permission, of course); we're watching "Saving Private Ryan" in AP US History. I've heard that it's pretty gory; can anyone attest to that? I want to be a little prepared for it tomorrow...

[ Di ] says:
on May 28, 2008 12:19 AM

I've seen one scary movie at the theatre and that was Texas Chainsaw with Jessica Beal (not sure how you spell her last name)

[ Jane ] says:
on May 28, 2008 12:19 AM

Side-arm pitching fascinates me completely. Granted, he's not super lights out, but watching Javvy pitch is just cool.

[ Liza ] says:
on May 28, 2008 12:19 AM

Hey, NJ, I'm watching that in history tomorrow, too. We saw Pearl Harbor and Enemy at the Gates on Friday.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 28, 2008 12:19 AM

and right after you watch house of 1000 corpses you can watch devil's rejects.

kickass movies.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 28, 2008 12:21 AM

The name of the game is: don't serve fastballs up the fucking middle. As a wise man once said.

[ Meghan ] says:
on May 28, 2008 12:21 AM

I didn't think it was gory. Keep in mind I've worked in and ER and observed lots of surgery though, so my perception of gore might be a bit skewed;-)

[ Ian ] says:
on May 28, 2008 12:21 AM

Texas Chainsaw with jessica biel is not scary.

Watch the original one if you're going to watch it.

[ njdevils ] says:
on May 28, 2008 12:21 AM

That's really weird Liza--we just finished watching Pearl Harbor today!

[ fc ] says:
on May 28, 2008 12:23 AM

I'm watching a scary movie right now.

[ Liza ] says:
on May 28, 2008 12:23 AM

That was unfortunately close. UGH.

We only watched the big scene with all the explosions. Good times. (We watched a lot of Enemy at the Gate, though, which was pretty good.)

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 28, 2008 12:23 AM

Pat Neshek's sidearm delivery is FREAKY. Freaky awesome.

And of course Peavy. Who I have a massive, massive crush on.

[ Di ] says:
on May 28, 2008 12:23 AM

well if I ever watch those I will have to make sure I have someone to sleep in my room with me...I'm a wimp

[ Ian ] says:
on May 28, 2008 12:24 AM

even hostel had some gory parts in it. like when they sliced his achillies so he couldn't walk.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 28, 2008 12:24 AM

Watching MDC/Lopez pitch = scary

[ Ian ] says:
on May 28, 2008 12:24 AM

both of whom are on the DL texy.

[ Di ] says:
on May 28, 2008 12:25 AM

again Ian I am a wimp when it comes to horror films

[ Ian ] says:
on May 28, 2008 12:25 AM

AC to the rescue

[ Liza ] says:
on May 28, 2008 12:25 AM

I like Huston Street's delivery. He hunches his shoulder all funny.

That was extremely nerve-wracking, MDC.

[ fc ] says:
on May 28, 2008 12:25 AM

FUCK YEAH, Pedey!

[ Meghan ] says:
on May 28, 2008 12:26 AM

I liked Hostel:-D Gut-wrenching gore is fun.

Glad we got out of that. More runs now please?

[ Jane ] says:
on May 28, 2008 12:26 AM

TG- Can't lie. Love the Peav.

Way to be there, Cora. Amen.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 28, 2008 12:26 AM

That's ok - I have Bedard eye candy coming up soon. I rilly rilly wish I'd have gotten a Beckett-Bedard matchup. Battle of the Hotties.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 28, 2008 12:26 AM

I love a good slasher flick when I can see one. The better ones are from the late 70's and 80's.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 28, 2008 12:27 AM

TG- Can't lie. Love the Peav.

I read that wrong at first and spit water on my screen.

[ Liza ] says:
on May 28, 2008 12:27 AM

TG, you should've seen me when Huston pitched to Jacoby. And then Hannahan made an appearance. Whoooooo.

[ fc ] says:
on May 28, 2008 12:28 AM

Oh dear, did I just mistake Cora on that play for Pleats?
Hmmm...no explanation there.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 28, 2008 12:28 AM

I persist in referring to him as Peavy!Peavy!Peavy!

Why do I insist on giving my beloved pitchers such emasculating lame nicknames? I don't do that to fielders.

[ jenny again ] says:
on May 28, 2008 12:28 AM

BECKETTY-BOO

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 28, 2008 12:28 AM

Pleats will happily take credit, fc. And throw in a gratuitous "FUCK YEAH".

[ Ian ] says:
on May 28, 2008 12:29 AM

tonight's go to sleep movie might have to be either House of 1000 corpses or devil's rejects.

[ fc ] says:
on May 28, 2008 12:30 AM

It was just so Pedey-like. And I'm not used to seeing that from 6.

[ Di ] says:
on May 28, 2008 12:30 AM

I think Becketty-Boo really suits him

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 28, 2008 12:30 AM

OK, except Pleats. Which isn't really emasculating, so much as it is caling him to task for his questionable fashion choices.

But, yes - Becketty-Boo. And Teddy Bear. (Ted Lilly) And Peavy!Peavy!Peavy!

[ Ian ] says:
on May 28, 2008 12:31 AM

so is it ok that I call Heidi Watney Heidi-ho even though i can't say she is on.

It's more from the Blues Brother when Cab Calloway sang "Hi De Ho"

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 28, 2008 12:31 AM

And lest I forget, Papyboo. Which was the original boobear nickname. And spawned the Becketty-Boo madness. Only the very best earn their "boo".
