Not impressed with Heidi's interviewing skills just yet. she seemed nervous during the interview with the Mayor. She was much better in the Edes segment.
I'll be sporadic tonight too, as I'll be actually watching the game on TV! WOO HOO! Meanwhile, the game starts in 15 minutes and I'm still trying to get dinner together! (rushing off to complete that task). Enjoy the PawSox game, Steph!
Also, did those with NESN notice how they're all calling Amalie "Ms. Brown" now? And apparently, Shill even called her "Amalie Brown" when he told her about his shoulder.
Telecast has started! Chicken, rice and collard greens (yes, Southern food) all ready to bring into the other room. Life is GOOD, y'all! Enjoy the game, and I'll be checking in as the action permits. :-)
I...doubt it. It's GirlSox Nation we're talking about, and they actually have a Top Ten Reasons They Love Chris Carter list. Not once does it mention his human biology degree which he got in 3 1/4 YEARS.
Liza, i thought that they would too. It just mad more sense to me. Considering that Coco's supposedly still not 100% healthy, and god forbid if anything was to happen to another outfielder. But i guess that if that did happen, they would just use Lugo. Or send Hansen down and bring another OF up.
Liza-- Yeah! I like him, too! I don't know too much about him right now but he's on my list. :)
Curtis is up. :)
(I use smileys alot. I don't make the hyphens as noses though, I think those look less cute.)
Okay he just got out. I seem to have a thing for leadoff batters. There are other characteristics that are my regular type, but leadoff batter is one of them.
Lindsay- you can't keep me from Jacoby... I think the police can though. he's 9 years 11 months 10 days older than me. And yes- I'm watching NESN HD. I think it's on ESPN but I don't have that in HD.
Steph- wow... that's really impressive. I love intelligent guys!! There was this wicked wicked smart guy in my math class and my sister made fun of him because he was a little dorky, but I thought he was cute, haha.
When they get back to Fenway Park next month (since it seems like they will be gone forever), they need to go back to this same camera angle they are using here at Comerica.
Haha, Choco--we're like the same person! I'm 9 years and 9 months younger than him. And Sam Fuld is practically my perfect baseball crush, personified... so yeah.
yeah mines a widescreen too. but every other channel is fine. like i'm watching it on regular NESN right now, and its fine. its just that when i put it on NESN HD, it looks like the camera guy is shaking the camera. And you know how when you have a crappy camera and your recording a video, theres like a delay? and when you move it looks funny in the video because its so slow? thats how it looks on my tv.
Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag took their D-list brand of horses**t to the Kentucky Derby on Saturday -- and in a truly candid moment, Heidi looked through the wrong end of the binoculars. You can't make this stuff up!
Well since, I grabbed that from TMZ, it's probably only half true.
Dice-K needs to stop with these walks and nibbling and just throw strikes. He's got a pretty good D behind him. He just needs to hope they don't hit the ball to E-6.
Has anyone here taken a trip around the country or a certain part of the country and gone to a bunch of different baseball games at different stadiums? The reason I ask is because my dad said him and I could go if I planned it, so I'm looking for any tips on the best things to do for hotels/ best place to get tickets/ anything else that would be helpful. I want to go the the baseball hall of fame because I've never been there before and they have a special thing on the Red Sox because they won the World Series. Then see a Mets game at Shea, maybe a Yankees game, Orioles, Nationals, Phillies, Pittsburgh, maybe even go to Cleveland and Detroit.
Choco, my family is trying to go to all the stadiums, but we've never done one big trip at one time. We've been to Shea, Fenway, Citizen's Bank Park, RFK Stadium, Camden Yards, Coors Field and...I think that's it so far. But we might go to San Francisco this summer, so we could mark off both San Francisco and Oakland.
Colon is starting for the PawSox on Saturday. Both Casey and Cora will be there this week too. Cora starts Wednesday and Casey on Thursday.
Colon threw 19 pitches allowing 1 hit and 1 walk. Then he threw another 16 in the pen. He's on his way to Detroit to be evaluated by John Farrell and the medical staff before Saturday's start.
Thanks for the info! I've been to Fenway and Chase Field (Diamondbacks- it was them vs. the Angels! I even got to run the bases!!) so far... My dad is a big baseball fan and has been to a lot of them.
Although when I did answer today it was beneficial to me since she's getting me another pair of Crocs and something else which I already forget. Yeah i'm spoiled still :D
I was watching the local news last night (WFSB 3) and they are doing the Red Sox recap. When he brings up the graphics they are still using the Devil Rays logo.
What gets me is that the Devil Rays logo has been out for a long while now. ANd the Sox have already played the Rays once this year. Why does it take me the viewer to point it out.
My mom actually just flew back from two weeks in Portland visiting my sister. I e-mailed her to tell her that I would be watching baseball tonight so she should NOT call me!
Lindsay, that is so tragic and senseless. I wonder how much alcohol the diver had--the Sox/Yankees thing was just an excuse, I think. Someone that angry has larger issues than baseball.
Lindsay, someone on LJ mentioned that it's not so much the rivalry as it is the fact that someone would get drunk and do such a thing in general. They're overblowing the rivalry, when the real issue here is the drunk driving...that being said, this is a crying shame.
and the guy, who was 29- just chanted Yankees suck! and the lady, that was 49-- said that she was just trying to scare the group of people and she thought that they would move out of the way...bull crap!
Okay, Pawtucket, this is your last chance. Let's do something here! (A Chris Carter walk-off grand slam would make me extremely happy, but you don't have to go that far.)
Steph, Don and Remy are talking about how the Sox are the first team to have their top four picks of a single draft on the active roster at the same time--Jacoby, Clay, Hansen, and Lowrie. Just thought you might like to know that.
They don't show them, they "show" them. It's Gameday, everyone's least favorite game-tracking program...but you can sign up for free radio, like I did. And sometimes they'll put games on TV, but rarely...
Lindsay, I could hear the game on the radio, yes. But I also used Gameday to get the exact pitches for the live-blog, so I sort of "watched" it, I guess. Occasionally, though, they'll show some games on the website with video...not all of them, however.
Hey, everybody...I'm back!
I probably won't comment much tonight (I have a lot of homework and I haven't even started unpacking), but I wanted to say hi to everybody.
Aside from obsessively checking scores on my phone and watching Sports Center when I was able to steal the remote from my roomates, I haven't really been up to date on what's going on with the team...did I miss anything important/interesting/funny/weird?
The only part about LOST that I don't like happened in like the first or second season. A character named Aaron was born on the same day that a character named Boone died. There's no way that's just a coincidence.
Danny Tamberelli and Don Zimmer are also residents of Wyckoff...Don lives there now, although he wasn't born there, but Danny grew up there, to my knowledge...
And apparently Bucky Dent is now there, too. Remind me to boycott that Dairy Queen...eh, that'd be going too far.
I'm back! Okay, Lindsay- about when you said this: "Choco, would u be going to Red Sox games? or would you be seeings other teams?" a while ago, here is my answer-we're planning on seeing a bunch of different teams, and some of them are in the NL, too. Plus in the time we're planning to go (last week of July-beginning of August) the Sox are playing at home, so probably not. Though maybe we'll change the dates to around August 18 where they're playing Baltimore. We'll see... In short- we're not planning on seeing the Sox but maybe it will work out.
Jose Reyes almost had it the other night. He was thrown out at the plate on an inside-the-park home run attempt (he got the other three easily - Jose seems to have no trouble with triples due to his speed).
Anycase any of you are interested, theres a post on Yahoo Answers about the Yankee/Red Sox fan murder. And some of the answers (from Yankee fans) are rediculous and really pissed me off. check it out if you want--
It's just...I don't want to read some of those. From what you're saying, it sounds like they're being callous, and I don't want to read them and piss myself off...
Yeah, basically there was 1 post that got me a little upset. it wasnt anything serious, but idk- it was stupid to say, expecially when talking abt something as serious as this.
I really need to stop looking at baseball Q's on yahoo answers...i found another post about Tek thats getting me pissed off...so much damn yankee/sox contraversy..
Actually, this is like what happened last time. Okaji gave up a hit and let in an unearned run, and then he proceeded to shut the lineup down...It was a few games ago, but I remember it.
I know that this is kind of off topic-- but am i the only 1 that hates this damn Yankee/Red Sox rivalry? I mean, i will admit that i have a Yankees Suck t shirt. But i dont start shit with random Yankee fans. I only come at the Yankees if a Yankee fan is coming at the Sox. And i would say that the Yankee fans are immature, but not all of the are. And some sox fans are just as immature, so i cant say that. But ugh, its so frustrating. I wish that people realized that baseball is just a game. What do you think abt the rivalry?
I actually ignore it altogether. See, I'm from New Jersey, and if I didn't avoid it things could get pretty ugly. Sure, I'll banter a little with my neighbors, but I try to overlook it as best as I can...
Lindsay, I agree--I enjoy poking fun at Yankees fans when we're on top of the division and all, and I'll shake my head all goodheartedly at my friends who are Yankees fans, but I won't actually start something violent or mean.
Ok, im done with the friggin Yahoo answers shit. on that yankee/sox murder thing i said "grow up, the sox fan didnt start it because of jealousy" and the friggin guy decided to make a completely seperate Q targeted at ME.
I think some rivalry and competition is fine, but people take it too far sometimes. When I was 12, my family and I were in NYC and I was wearing a Sox hat, and this older guy (probably like 25-30) spit on my shoe. What the heck? I was 12. Plus you just don't go around spitting on people's shoes. I think both sides can be pretty immature at times. There's a line.
I took a chance once - I wore my 2007 World Series Champions shirt into the Museum of Natural History. I got away with it okay, but that's because people who go to museums are mature...
Yeah, Steph, I must say, Granderson is pretty impressive. I don't like it when it's at our expense, though.
About the rivalry, I think a lot of people take it way too far. I'm not just talking about the incident in the news. Friendly competition is fine. Ugliness is not.
Yeah everytime I go to NYC I wear Red Sox stuff. I've gotten many many comments, but nothing violent. Stuff like "Wow, that's dangerous wearing all that stuff here, haha" or "Hey, Red Sox fans aren't allowed, hahaha", or "Hey girl, you gotta put a jacket or sweatshirt over that shirt of yours now."
I love adding 'ye olde' to things...it's fun, because then you get to spell everything after it differently. Or make it some weird innuendo, in Pap's case.
My heart leapt at 'defensive replacements,' by the way. But Coco is a good idea...
My history teacher took the rivalry a little too far last year. He’s a huge fan of the NY Yankees and the NY Rangers. He actually took points off of my tests for liking the teams that he hated. I still got As on all of my tests because I barely ever got any questions wrong on his tests and I had enough extra credit to pass every test without even answering a single question, but I still think that’s a little crazy. He did do it in a funny way, though, and I'm sure he wouldn't do it to a student who didn't have an average of 123% in his class (even though I know he would have wanted too).
And in my yearbook, he wrote "Go Yankees," taking up almost half the page (which I promptly crossed out with a Sharpie).
I had a teacher one year who put 'write the score of the ALCS game last night for extra credit' on some of his tests. It was 2004, and he was a Yankees fan, so I took a particular glee in recording Boston's comeback on each consecutive quiz...
Yeah, it was like 20 degrees. I'm wearing one sleeve though! I have since bought a red long-sleeved shirt, so next time (and I'll do it with my Ellsbury shirt, too. Ortiz has kicked the Yankees butt many times though *cough2004ALCS!!!cough*
I was with my family and another family, too, though. So it'd have to be a really big group to take all of us down.
My history teacher actually had an extra credit question earlier this year: "Who was World Series MVP?" She gave me an extra point for saying Ellsbury should've been, complete with his stats for the series...
