Pink necklaces.
Pink necklaces?!

[ Jane ] says:
on May 11, 2008 8:08 PM

At last, I can FINALLY watch a game on TV. Bring on the pink.

Happy Mom's Day!

[ Liza ] says:
on May 11, 2008 8:09 PM

Pink necklaces ftw!

[ starr4 ] says:
on May 11, 2008 8:09 PM

Happy Mother's Day to y'all.
Go Wakey!

[ Mary ] says:
on May 11, 2008 8:10 PM

Happy mothers day everyone!

And well, since it IS mother's day, I'm not going to be joining you guys tonight, I'm going to go watch it with the momskies and play Red Sox monopoly (the 2007 one) with her :)

Enjoy the game everyone!

[ Liza ] says:
on May 11, 2008 8:10 PM

Yes--a very happy mother's day to the mothers here!

[ kristina ] says:
on May 11, 2008 8:10 PM

Happy Mothers Day!
love the pink!

[ Liza ] says:
on May 11, 2008 8:11 PM

Aw, Jacoby and his wonderfully clashing pink and red arms got out.

[ kristina ] says:
on May 11, 2008 8:12 PM

Pleats in Pink!

[ Liza ] says:
on May 11, 2008 8:14 PM

Yeah Pleatsie!

[ 1863_project ] says:

Sorry I'm late - computer troubles. My internet cable died! (is using the internet cable from the XBOX right now)

Nice hit, Dustin, and happy Mothers' Day, everyone!

[ blood and whiskey ] says:
on May 11, 2008 8:16 PM

Papi's all decked out :]
hi everyone.

[ Liza ] says:
on May 11, 2008 8:16 PM

Papii!

Hey Steph! You heard the news about Jed? (Right in time for ESPN?)

[ 1863_project ] says:
on May 11, 2008 8:17 PM

(had possibly the best day of the year so far yesterday) I was at Shea, and then later I was here listening to the radio and...I'm so, so proud!

[ fc ] says:
on May 11, 2008 8:17 PM

N\No pink on youk...except for that pretty little ribbon.

[ 1863_project ] says:
on May 11, 2008 8:18 PM

And now maybe I will see him in Pawtucket this year!

[ Bethie ] says:
on May 11, 2008 8:18 PM

Hey Everyone!! Happy Mother's day to all the moms out there!

Happy we have it on ESPN, my computer could use the break. :)

And congrats to your boy Jed, Steph. I know you're super proud of him, as are the rest of us.

[ Lindsay ] says:
on May 11, 2008 8:19 PM

i cant stand these announcers =/

[ Liza ] says:
on May 11, 2008 8:19 PM

I meant the Pawtucket part, haha. I'm glad I might see him!

[ 1863_project ] says:
on May 11, 2008 8:19 PM

I am - I sort of spazzed last night. It was...awkward, because it was in front of my kid brother! And now that he's back in Pawtucket for the time being I can get back to planning that Rhode Island trip...

[ Lindsay ] says:
on May 11, 2008 8:20 PM

happy mothers day everyone!!

[ 1863_project ] says:
on May 11, 2008 8:20 PM

Also...I should go check out the San Diego farm system a bit better and see who we might get for Bryan Corey...

[ Lindsay ] says:
on May 11, 2008 8:21 PM

I hate how these announcers ar so not for the sox. they're like rooting for the twins! lol.

[ Bethie ] says:
on May 11, 2008 8:22 PM

Ahh...Joe Morgan.

What to say about Joe Morgan.

[ Bethie ] says:
on May 11, 2008 8:24 PM

Yay, we've got Cora tonight. I hope he has a good night. And that Lugo gets a chance to rest his rattled noggin.

[ 1863_project ] says:
on May 11, 2008 8:24 PM

I forgot about that! San Diego's AAA team is the Portland Beavers...(goes to look at them again) Anyone heard any rumors about the Corey trade? I'll miss him, though...

[ fc ] says:
on May 11, 2008 8:24 PM

Wow, who knew there's no air in domes.

[ Jane ] says:
on May 11, 2008 8:26 PM

//Wow, who knew there's no air in domes.//

Ha! Love it.

[ Liza ] says:
on May 11, 2008 8:26 PM

Steph, I was just about to tell you they're the Portland Beavers. Haha.

[ Lindsay ] says:
on May 11, 2008 8:26 PM

wait, they're trading Corey?? y?

[ Piney61 ] says:
on May 11, 2008 8:26 PM

I'm pretty thrilled to see Cora in the lineup. I'd laugh if he went like 3-3 or something, but I doubt it'll happen. Though I'd love to see him get a huge hit. Though I hope to see Jedward back soon.

[ Liza ] says:
on May 11, 2008 8:27 PM

Lindsay, he's already traded. The only way he was going to get any playing time was in Pawtucket, but he deserves to be in the majors so they traded him to a team that needs pitching.

[ 1863_project ] says:
on May 11, 2008 8:28 PM

I'm actually not too upset about Jed going back to Pawtucket - he could use just a tad more polish, anyway, and besides, my Pawtucket trip has its original purpose back now...(I can still wear the Stanford hat without looking like a Chris Carter fangirl!)

[ Bethie ] says:
on May 11, 2008 8:28 PM

That's the thing I like. We've got 2 guys who are fully capable of playing SS, so Lugo can have as much time as he needs. You hear me Red Sox, AS MUCH TIME AS HE NEEDS!! :)

Now you've just got to worry about juggling the roster to make room.

[ Adam ] says:
on May 11, 2008 8:29 PM

anyone catch the Youk F Bomb again for the 2nd time in a week?

[ Liza ] says:
on May 11, 2008 8:31 PM

Blackburn's being crazy economical.

[ fc ] says:
on May 11, 2008 8:32 PM

I caught it. And on Mother's Day.
That's our boy.

[ Liza ] says:
on May 11, 2008 8:32 PM

Does Jacoby have allergies or something?

[ 1863_project ] says:
on May 11, 2008 8:33 PM

Johan Santana (who I saw in person yesterday!) apparently has allergies, actually...

[ Liza ] says:
on May 11, 2008 8:34 PM

Aww. Johan seemed fine in Florida when I saw him in spring training...

But is it possible he wears contacts? Haha. I wonder what he'd look like with glasses...

[ fc ] says:
on May 11, 2008 8:34 PM

Didn't we see somewhere that Jacoby wears contacts?

[ 1863_project ] says:
on May 11, 2008 8:36 PM

I've see Jacoby with glasses! If you look at the pictures in which he's getting off the airplane in Tokyo with his girlfriend, he's wearing them. He's got square frames, if I recall correctly...

[ fc ] says:
on May 11, 2008 8:37 PM

We missed an at bat for a commercial.
Thank you ESPN.

[ Liza ] says:
on May 11, 2008 8:37 PM

Seriously? I didn't know that! Can you find those pictures?

[ Liza ] says:
on May 11, 2008 8:38 PM

ESPN can't even get back from the commercials in time to show the game. Wow.

[ Liza ] says:
on May 11, 2008 8:40 PM

Aww, shit.

[ 1863_project ] says:
on May 11, 2008 8:40 PM

(rolls her eyes)

[ 1863_project ] says:
on May 11, 2008 8:40 PM

...oh, right, let me get on that Jacoby-with-glasses thing. Sorry!

[ fc ] says:
on May 11, 2008 8:40 PM

I'm with Youk.
F*CK

[ Liza ] says:
on May 11, 2008 8:41 PM

No problem.

Also, I've decided I want Kevin Cameron for Bryan Corey. He was born in Joliet, Illinois, which is where Anthony Rapp (one of my favorite actors and singers) was born!

[ Bethie ] says:
on May 11, 2008 8:42 PM

Okay, that sucked.

(sigh)

[ 1863_project ] says:
on May 11, 2008 8:44 PM

...goddamn it!

[ blood and whiskey ] says:
on May 11, 2008 8:44 PM

*grumbles*

[ Liza ] says:
on May 11, 2008 8:45 PM

Shit. Again.

[ 1863_project ] says:
on May 11, 2008 8:45 PM

THIS IS WHAT YOU GET FOR SENDING JED DOWN, SOX MANAGEMENT. THE BASEBALL GODS TAKE REVENGE ON YOU!

[ Piney61 ] says:
on May 11, 2008 8:45 PM

Yeah...Wake doesn't quite have it tonight, to say the least.

[ Jessi ] says:
on May 11, 2008 8:46 PM

Holy shit. This is bad.

[ kristina ] says:
on May 11, 2008 8:46 PM

as youk would put it...F$&K

[ fc ] says:
on May 11, 2008 8:46 PM

Is it too early in the game to decide I don't like baseball?

[ Jessi ] says:
on May 11, 2008 8:46 PM

Please make it stop.

[ Di ] says:
on May 11, 2008 8:47 PM

Hola y'all. finally back from JAX, what a time to come back, yikes!

[ Liza ] says:
on May 11, 2008 8:47 PM

So Wake's knuckler likes last year's domes.

[ Anonymous ] says:
on May 11, 2008 8:47 PM

Good ol "Who Lee on" Tavarez warming up according to Jon Miller

[ Bethie ] says:
on May 11, 2008 8:48 PM

WTF?!?!?!?!

I wonder if they can hear my eyes rolling from here.

[ 1863_project ] says:
on May 11, 2008 8:48 PM

(is still doing that picture search) I know I saw them somewhere...

[ Di ] says:
on May 11, 2008 8:48 PM

and 18 I could hear you squee all the way in FL when Jed hit the homer

[ fc ] says:
on May 11, 2008 8:49 PM

I noticed that "Ellsworth" almost made the catch on that honer earlier.

[ 1863_project ] says:
on May 11, 2008 8:49 PM

I had him on the radio...I spazzed in front of the kid brother!

[ Adam ] says:
on May 11, 2008 8:49 PM

beat me to it on the Ellsworth

[ Liza ] says:
on May 11, 2008 8:50 PM

fc, he was about one foot too far to one side. And then he fell down.

GOOD. Outs are good, Wakey.

[ Di ] says:
on May 11, 2008 8:50 PM

I'm sure. It was an amazing moment

[ 1863_project ] says:
on May 11, 2008 8:51 PM

...and then they sent him back to Pawtucket the next day. After Tito said he wasn't going to. Eh, go figure, that's how the game goes.

[ Di ] says:
on May 11, 2008 8:52 PM

good Coco

[ Bethie ] says:
on May 11, 2008 8:52 PM

Thank the lord that inning is over.

Now we've got our work cut out for us.

[ Di ] says:
on May 11, 2008 8:53 PM

poor Jed

[ blood and whiskey ] says:
on May 11, 2008 8:54 PM

what did Manny say...?
hahaha.

[ fc ] says:
on May 11, 2008 8:54 PM

"poor Jed" nothin. He had a tremendous stay and he know's he'll be back.

[ Di ] says:
on May 11, 2008 8:54 PM

that was a cute little segment

[ fc ] says:
on May 11, 2008 8:54 PM

I also know that "knows" does not have an apostrophe.

[ 1863_project ] says:
on May 11, 2008 8:55 PM

And now I'll get to see him in Pawtucket when I go this year!

...ow, Jacoby!

[ kristina ] says:
on May 11, 2008 8:55 PM

ouch

[ Di ] says:
on May 11, 2008 8:55 PM

noooo not Jacoby, I guess sooner is closer than we think

[ Liza ] says:
on May 11, 2008 8:55 PM

Holy fuck--that looked PAINFUL. Funny bone much?

[ fc ] says:
on May 11, 2008 8:56 PM

WTF IS THIS?

[ Liza ] says:
on May 11, 2008 8:56 PM

Pedroia too? Wtf?

[ blood and whiskey ] says:
on May 11, 2008 8:56 PM

STOP HITTING MY FAVOURITE PLAYERS.
kthx.

[ Di ] says:
on May 11, 2008 8:56 PM

ooooo look at that grimace.

[ Liza ] says:
on May 11, 2008 8:57 PM

...and here comes Manny!!

[ fc ] says:
on May 11, 2008 8:58 PM

Manny's not in today.

[ Liza ] says:
on May 11, 2008 8:58 PM

Wait, what am I saying? Not Manny. Duh, Liza.

YOUUUUUUUUUK!

[ Bethie ] says:
on May 11, 2008 8:59 PM

Come on YOUK!!!

[ Avery ] says:
on May 11, 2008 8:59 PM

Let's go Mikey :)

[ 1863_project ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:00 PM

[ kristina ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:01 PM

[ Liza ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:01 PM

[ 1863_project ] says:

Thanks for being fast, Jacoby!

[ Di ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:02 PM

SAFE!!!!!!!!!!!

[ Liza ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:02 PM

Yay Jacoby!

Okay, JD...

[ blood and whiskey ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:02 PM

my heart just exploded, because someone decided to set of a massive firework right as Mikey hit that ball..

[ kristina ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:02 PM

ok, thats 1...you just can't catch him!

[ Liza ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:02 PM

Jeez--crazy good throw.

We've got to stop stranding so many baserunners, Soxies.

[ Avery ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:02 PM

That's better than nothing I guess Mikey.

Ugh. JD.

[ fc ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:03 PM

All those stranded runners. Dammit.

[ fc ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:04 PM

All those stranded runners. Dammit.

[ fc ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:04 PM

Sorry for the double post.
Sorry for the double post.

[ 1863_project ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:05 PM

...this is not working, Wake.

[ 1863_project ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:05 PM

(gasps) Hide your children!

[ kristina ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:07 PM

ok ESPN sucks....these announcers suck....and Wakey you need to get outs...

[ Avery ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:07 PM

Wakey. Please do not be Shakey.
Otherwise I might be crank-y.

My pathetic attempt at a rhyme. But please. Strikes?
Loove, A.

[ Liza ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:08 PM

Wtf is up with Cash tonight?

[ 1863_project ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:08 PM

(shrugs) Dusty Brown, Tito?

[ starr4 ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:08 PM

It's tough to catch the knuckleball.

[ blood and whiskey ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:09 PM

*ears perk up, eyes brighten*
Dusty Brown? Yes please!

[ Liza ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:09 PM

Steph - My thoughts exactly.

[ Liza ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:10 PM

It's definitely tough to catch the knuckleball. But he hasn't had much trouble before.

[ 1863_project ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:10 PM

(has said she would legally marry Dusty Brown's throwing arm if this is legal)

[ Liza ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:11 PM

What the hell?

[ blood and whiskey ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:11 PM

talk of Dusty Brown and all these shots of my bestest buddy Tek are making me feel guilty.

[ starr4 ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:11 PM

It's looking like a challenging night for Cash and Wake. Hold on.

[ 1863_project ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:11 PM

Oh, B&W, did you see the photos of Dusty Brown and George Kottaras play-fighting? (has them)

[ Jane ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:12 PM

I'm with Mike Schur & Co. Please FIRE JOE MORGAN.

I cannot listen to him anymore. I'm watching this game on mute.

[ fc ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:14 PM

ugly uglu ugly

[ Di ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:14 PM

por el amor de dios pull him out already.

[ blood and whiskey ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:14 PM

..no! I haven't!

-awe, Wake.

[ 1863_project ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:15 PM

Oh, God, they're showing that 'rookie shortstop' commercial! That commercial always makes me sick to my stomach because of Jed...

[ kristina ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:15 PM

this is not good.....oh wakey

[ Avery ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:15 PM

This is going to be a long night.

[ 1863_project ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:16 PM

B&W (and anyone else interested), they're in this entry here.

[ starr4 ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:18 PM

Oy! Wake out in the third! Yo-Yo in.

[ blood and whiskey ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:19 PM

thanks, 1863!

[ Bethie ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:19 PM

Good thing our team likes come from behind games. lol

Agreed, gonna be a long night. Everyone, brace yourselves.

[ Liza ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:19 PM

I tried muting the TV and getting the game on the radio but it wasn't tuning right. Ugh.

This is ooooo-glay.

[ 1863_project ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:20 PM

Aren't the two of them adorable? It makes a rough day a little better...

This game had better improve quickly...c'mon, guys!

[ Di ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:21 PM

alright Coco

[ blood and whiskey ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:21 PM

yeah, Coco!

[ Liza ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:22 PM

Nice one Coco!

[ 1863_project ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:22 PM

That's better!

[ 1863_project ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:22 PM

Nice! Here we go!

[ Liza ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:23 PM

Cashie's 2-for-2!

[ starr4 ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:23 PM

Joe Morgan, you're an idiot! Please cease making these insipid comments.

[ 1863_project ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:23 PM

YES! Look at this!

[ fc ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:23 PM

This is more like it.

[ Avery ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:24 PM

That's it Coco. Cash, you might have had passed balls, but I guess this makes up for it.

[ Liza ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:24 PM

Okay... c'mon, Jacoby!

[ kristina ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:24 PM

ok boys...lets go

[ Piney61 ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:24 PM

Seriously what has gotten into Kevin Cash?

[ Liza ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:25 PM

I think every time Cash plays, he borrows a little bit of Tek's awesome and turns it from game-calling awesome into hitting awesome.

So, Cashie, it'd be nice if you could make some ball-catching awesome, too.

[ 1863_project ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:26 PM

Or some baserunner-gunning-down awesome. (lends Cashie Dusty Brown's golden arm) I need that back so I can propose to it, so don't break it!

Yay for errors!

[ Di ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:26 PM

woohoo

[ Liza ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:27 PM

That was quick...

This is going to be one heckuva slugfest.

[ fc ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:27 PM

"The fleet-footed Pedroia."

[ 1863_project ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:27 PM

I heard that, too! It was just...no. Dustin's not fast...

[ Liza ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:29 PM

Pleats is many things. But he is not fast.

[ 1863_project ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:30 PM

Oh, it's Youk. I don't think I've said it yet, but I totally love seeing him in the 4-hole...

[ Piney61 ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:30 PM

Just because he's short doesn't mean he's fast, man! That's like....being a shortman stereotyper

[ Liza ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:31 PM

Cmon YOUK

[ blood and whiskey ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:31 PM

YESYESYES.

[ fc ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:31 PM

YAY!!!

[ Liza ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:31 PM

YES!

[ Avery ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:31 PM

YOUK YES YOUK YES

[ 1863_project ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:32 PM

NICE!

[ 1863_project ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:32 PM

And Piney, I totally agree on the stereotyping thing - I'm short and not particularly fast, either! (Dustin and I are totally the same person sometimes, except I have hair.)

[ Liza ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:32 PM

MVP MVP MVP

Really, it is early for this. But I don't care. :)

[ kristina ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:33 PM

there goes that fleet footed Pedrois again.....here we go, we're gettin it back slowly but surely

[ 1863_project ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:34 PM

S'okay. I already picked my Rookies of the Year...who I may need to change, at least in the NL. My NL RoY is now Joey Votto...

[ Di ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:35 PM

aww that kid is cute

[ blood and whiskey ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:35 PM

that's a cute kid ^_^

[ fc ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:35 PM

That kid could fit in that bowl.

[ Liza ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:35 PM

Nuhhh. Aw, Mikey.

[ Adam ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:36 PM

Anyone remember a game last year in Oakland when Pedroia tried to score from first on a ball hit by Ortiz, and he was out by so much that Jason Kendall tagged him in the head with his glove?? It's good to see that he has gotten a little quicker

[ Avery ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:37 PM

Adam, I want video of that. *goes to search*

[ blood and whiskey ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:37 PM

Papi antics!

[ 1863_project ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:38 PM

Papi! That was great...

[ Liza ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:38 PM

Papi again! And some not-at-all subtle "ass"-dropping from Tito!

I love this team.

[ Di ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:38 PM

I would love to see Tito try to kick Papi's ass.

[ kristina ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:39 PM

Tito cursing on ESPN...i love it

[ blood and whiskey ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:39 PM

Tito's gonna kick Papi's ass?
yeah.

I love these guys.

[ Liza ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:40 PM

Relief pitching scouts are here from three teams. Huh.

[ boston_princess ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:41 PM

Tito is just jealous.

He isn't as big and strong as Papi is.

The truth is revealed.

[ 1863_project ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:41 PM

Awww, no actual bowling, Tavarez?

[ Liza ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:42 PM

And Batshit rolls some balls on the infield. Ah, good times.

[ 1863_project ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:42 PM

...really? Are they sure they want ours? Our bullpen's been a bit inconsistent this season so far...

[ Avery ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:43 PM

I feel like I miss so much when I watch on Gameday. But I have to make it look like I'm doing homework so...

[ Di ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:44 PM

Avery, I know the feeling

[ Liza ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:44 PM

Apparently, they're looking at the Twins too.

Avery, I'm not bothering. I'll have to do my reading for two subjects after the game...

[ fc ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:44 PM

Don't kids do homework in front of the TV anymore?

[ 1863_project ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:45 PM

I do homework with the radio on all the time! ...except I won't be doing that now until September, because I'm done for the semester!

[ Anonymous ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:45 PM

ok heres the video I was talking about with Pedroia's lack of speed.

http://oakland.athletics.mlb.com/multimedia/tp_archive.jsp?c_id=oak&ym=200706

It's under the June 4th game under "Kotsay's defensive gem"

[ Avery ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:45 PM

fc, not when you are supposed to be studying :)

[ Liza ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:46 PM

fc, I can't concentrate if I try... and I've got to read some Shakespeare and lots of stuff about the depression.

[ boston_princess ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:46 PM

fc, I'm studying in front of the TV for my art history final tomorrow morning.

Well. "Studying."

[ fc ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:46 PM

Avery, it didn't hurt my grades one bit.

[ blood and whiskey ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:47 PM

d'oh!

[ kristina ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:47 PM

oh tavarez....

[ Jolie ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:48 PM

Avery, I'm on the same page. I always feel so delayed.

...I'm not allowed to watch in front of the telly?

[ Liza ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:48 PM

I'm sure it wouldn't hurt my grades, but it'd mean I wouldn't be able to actually watch the game.

[ Di ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:48 PM

keeping my fingers crossed

[ Avery ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:49 PM

Jolie :)

Tavarez scares me in these situations.

[ 1863_project ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:50 PM

...ugh.

[ Liza ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:50 PM

CRAP.

[ blood and whiskey ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:50 PM

ohh..
oh.

[ fc ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:51 PM

Aw, Mikey. That was hard to watch.

[ 1863_project ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:51 PM

YOUK IS AMAZING.

[ Liza ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:51 PM

At least that was only one run...

[ kristina ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:51 PM

oh thank god thats over...

[ blood and whiskey ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:52 PM

Sean Casey in the dugout warms my heart.

[ Avery ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:53 PM

I feel so delayed. I wish I could see Sean Casey's face right now.

[ 1863_project ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:54 PM

(updates the LJs of fictional characters as she watches the game) C'mon, J.D., you're due today...

[ fc ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:55 PM

I think Casey's still on the DL pending a decision on a roster move so he'll be staying in the dugout tonight.

[ 1863_project ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:56 PM

(crosses her fingers) Can we have some Lowell-Cora synergy tonight? They should theoretically hit better when they're both in the lineup - it's like Jed and Jacoby.

[ Anonymous ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:57 PM

this bores me

[ 1863_project ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:57 PM

...Cash up to his old tricks again.

[ kristina ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:58 PM

well thats not what we needed

[ Liza ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:58 PM

Oh, but Steph--they need Tek, too. Cora can dance and turn Tek on. (reference to this, by the way)

[ Anonymous ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:58 PM

who made the error

[ 1863_project ] says:
on May 11, 2008 9:59 PM

Oh, yes! That's right, they do need Tek! "Tek says he's turned on!"

[ Liza ] says:
on May 11, 2008 10:00 PM

Yep. That always cracks me up.

[ 1863_project ] says:
on May 11, 2008 10:00 PM

Oh, that reminds me - I saw your fictional baseball team! I can't wait to see the characters develop...!

[ Avery ] says:
on May 11, 2008 10:01 PM

So how do you say Aardsma?

[ Liza ] says:
on May 11, 2008 10:01 PM

Hee. I just replied to your comment.

[ Liza ] says:
on May 11, 2008 10:03 PM

Avery, it's "arrds-muh."

[ Anonymous ] says:
on May 11, 2008 10:03 PM

who made the error?

[ fc ] says:
on May 11, 2008 10:03 PM

Who asks the question about the error?

[ 1863_project ] says:
on May 11, 2008 10:04 PM

Okay, I'll go check! (is updating 'Drotti's LJ at the moment)

[ Avery ] says:
on May 11, 2008 10:04 PM

Thanks Liza. I might have just spent like 5 minutes coming up wtih all the ways to find it. And I ended up very confused.

[ Anonymous ] says:
on May 11, 2008 10:05 PM

Liza, that's not correct. The r must be surgically removed and repositioned: "Aahdsmar"

[ fc ] says:
on May 11, 2008 10:05 PM

OK, that Anonymous on pronunciation was me.

[ can you guys just answer who made the error? ] says:
on May 11, 2008 10:05 PM

...

[ Liza ] says:
on May 11, 2008 10:06 PM

I just sort of assumed that's how it was. I think that's how it's said--that's how Don says it, anyway. I'm not sure if I should trust Remy, but he says it that way too.

[ Liza ] says:
on May 11, 2008 10:07 PM

Hah, fc.

I think that was Lowell, am I right?

[ fc ] says:
on May 11, 2008 10:07 PM

Liza, that was an attempt at humor - apparently failed. Boston accent, get it?

[ Anonymous ] says:
on May 11, 2008 10:07 PM

Why can't you just answer it and stop picking on me? Puhlease

[ Liza ] says:
on May 11, 2008 10:07 PM

Aw--that was WAY deep. I'll take a double, though.

[ Di ] says:
on May 11, 2008 10:08 PM

yay AC

[ 1863_project ] says:
on May 11, 2008 10:08 PM

Yay, Alex!

[ Liza ] says:
on May 11, 2008 10:08 PM

Nah, I got it. I was being serious there. :)

[ Avery ] says:
on May 11, 2008 10:09 PM

Let's go Pedroia :)

[ Liza ] says:
on May 11, 2008 10:10 PM

...so ESPN has no video archives, or what?

[ Adam ] says:
on May 11, 2008 10:12 PM

what an ugly game. Stranding baserunners left and right, bad pitching, defensive miscues

[ kristina ] says:
on May 11, 2008 10:13 PM

well this just sucks

[ Avery ] says:
on May 11, 2008 10:13 PM

I do not like this game. We're not even though the 6th inning.

It just feels ugly. and dirty.

[ 1863_project ] says:
on May 11, 2008 10:13 PM

...okay, what the hell was that commercial there?

[ Liza ] says:
on May 11, 2008 10:14 PM

Awww, Mauer and Papi.

[ Liza ] says:
on May 11, 2008 10:15 PM

Yeesh, that was close.

[ fc ] says:
on May 11, 2008 10:16 PM

Let's all keep in mind what happened LAST Mother's Day.

[ Liza ] says:
on May 11, 2008 10:17 PM

fc, I was JUST thinking that...

[ Avery ] says:
on May 11, 2008 10:19 PM

Haha who was the starting pitcher then?

I will go look it up :)

[ Di ] says:
on May 11, 2008 10:20 PM

That's what I told my sister-in-law today. She was at the game last year and she was very pregnant.

[ Liza ] says:
on May 11, 2008 10:20 PM

Okay, we've got Youkie, Mikey, and JD... I totally just rhymed.

[ Anonymous ] says:
on May 11, 2008 10:20 PM

viva viagra

[ Avery ] says:
on May 11, 2008 10:20 PM

It was Beckett. If it was Wakefield, I would have been really freaked out.

[ kristina ] says:
on May 11, 2008 10:20 PM

awww Papi....made me feel a little teary for a moment

[ Mary ] says:
on May 11, 2008 10:21 PM

So, I popped back in for a bit, and upon reading that Jacoby glasses comment, I think my heart like Jed-grinned.

Does anyone have that picture? I think I would basically WORSHIP whoever has it :D

[ Liza ] says:
on May 11, 2008 10:21 PM

Okay... why does an erectile dysfunction commercial have that catchy a jingle?

[ 1863_project ] says:
on May 11, 2008 10:22 PM

I've been looking for it all night...If I find it, I'll let you know!

[ Anonymous ] says:
on May 11, 2008 10:24 PM

where's ian and texas gal tonight?

[ Mary ] says:
on May 11, 2008 10:24 PM

Liza - I still have that stuck in my head.

[ 1863_project ] says:
on May 11, 2008 10:24 PM

HEY! A HIT! WOW!

[ Avery ] says:
on May 11, 2008 10:24 PM

Come on JD!

[ Liza ] says:
on May 11, 2008 10:26 PM

Mary, same. It's kind of really, really annoying.

C'mon!

[ Piney61 ] says:
on May 11, 2008 10:26 PM

Come on Covelli, how about being awesome?

[ Mary ] says:
on May 11, 2008 10:27 PM

My mom told me to think of Viva Las Vegas.

Aparently the alliteration of Viva and Viagra makes it stick more.

[ 1863_project ] says:
on May 11, 2008 10:28 PM

YES! COCO!

[ Liza ] says:
on May 11, 2008 10:28 PM

Coco's got power!!

[ fc ] says:
on May 11, 2008 10:28 PM

HOLY CRAP COCO!!!!!!!!!!

[ Di ] says:

[ kristina ] says:
on May 11, 2008 10:28 PM

[ Piney61 ] says:
on May 11, 2008 10:29 PM

Can Cash make it another improbable back-to-back?

[ Di ] says:
on May 11, 2008 10:29 PM

I think those pink bats have something in them.

[ Avery ] says:
on May 11, 2008 10:29 PM

Coco. Deary. I apologize for all the mean things I thought about you.
Lots of love :)

[ blood and whiskey ] says:
on May 11, 2008 10:31 PM

Coco!
-late because I was too busy re-dying over the dancing post and accidentally commenting on that one and then feeling like an idiot-

[ fc ] says:
on May 11, 2008 10:33 PM

Maybe Coco heard about the scouts.

[ 1863_project ] says:
on May 11, 2008 10:33 PM

(is looking for the Jacoby glasses) It might've been in a video, actually - hang on!

[ Liza ] says:
on May 11, 2008 10:35 PM

Nuhh. Shit.

[ blood and whiskey ] says:
on May 11, 2008 10:35 PM

shit.

[ Di ] says:
on May 11, 2008 10:35 PM

WTF?

[ Mary ] says:
on May 11, 2008 10:35 PM

sonofabitch.

[ blood and whiskey ] says:
on May 11, 2008 10:36 PM

shit.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 11, 2008 10:36 PM

What a freaking bad night for the over 40 red sox pitchers tongiht

[ 1863_project ] says:
on May 11, 2008 10:36 PM

On the upside, watch this video, and you'll see Jacoby's glasses!

[ blood and whiskey ] says:
on May 11, 2008 10:36 PM

that was so shitty, I posted it twice.

[ Liza ] says:
on May 11, 2008 10:37 PM

We need Ecl and her "MFSOB" phrase.

By the way, for those who're wondering where she is, her power went out before the game started.

[ Di ] says:
on May 11, 2008 10:37 PM

See what I mean about those pink bats?

[ kristina ] says:
on May 11, 2008 10:39 PM

oh my.....it would be easier for the boys to rally if we'd stop giving them more runs...

[ Liza ] says:
on May 11, 2008 10:41 PM

Oh my. Jacoby looks... good in glasses. Ahem.

[ Mary ] says:
on May 11, 2008 10:41 PM

AHHHH THE GLASSES.

The *thump* you may have heard was the sound of me hitting the floor :D

[ 1863_project ] says:
on May 11, 2008 10:43 PM

Yay, Alex! He's a genius!

[ Liza ] says:
on May 11, 2008 10:43 PM

Yeah, Cora!

...c'mon, guys. And by "guys," I mean "Jacoby."

[ blood and whiskey ] says:
on May 11, 2008 10:43 PM

hey now, Cora!
JACOBY, get a damn hit.

[ 1863_project ] says:

[ blood and whiskey ] says:
on May 11, 2008 10:45 PM

[ Ian ] says:

[ Liza ] says:
on May 11, 2008 10:46 PM

That's not lol-able, though, Pleats!

[ blood and whiskey ] says:
on May 11, 2008 10:46 PM

[ blood and whiskey ] says:
on May 11, 2008 10:46 PM

btw, Ian, that's exactly what I told my mama!

[ Ian ] says:
on May 11, 2008 10:48 PM

I probably should just go back to watching the finale of Survivor. I've seen the second Monroe homer and pleats DP

[ 1863_project ] says:
on May 11, 2008 10:49 PM

(needs a drink)

(goes to the caffeine immediately)

[ Liza ] says:
on May 11, 2008 10:51 PM

This game feels like it's been so long. I keep forgetting it started at 8.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 11, 2008 10:55 PM

How's this for funny?

Craig Monroe's mother's name is Marilyn Monroe

[ Liza ] says:
on May 11, 2008 10:55 PM

YES! Jacoby wins the world!

[ blood and whiskey ] says:
on May 11, 2008 10:55 PM

Jacobyyyyy!

[ njdevils ] says:
on May 11, 2008 10:55 PM

Whoa, Jacoby! Nice catch!

[ fc ] says:
on May 11, 2008 10:55 PM

That catch by Ells was HEROIC.

[ Liza ] says:
on May 11, 2008 10:55 PM

Ian, r u 4 srs?

[ Piney61 ] says:
on May 11, 2008 10:56 PM

Well the good thing about this game is that it'll end before midnight most likely(barring any sudden comebacks, which if this team wants to do -- I tell them to go right ahead)

[ Ian ] says:
on May 11, 2008 10:56 PM

speak english. i'm not 15 :D

[ Liza ] says:
on May 11, 2008 10:58 PM

Shaddup. I'm eating and can only type with one hand. (I had to put down my muffin to type this, ftr.)

[ Ian ] says:
on May 11, 2008 10:58 PM

From Nick cafardo of extra bases:

Marilyn Monroe had to feel proud.

Her son, Craig, just whacked his second home run of the game, a solo shot in the seventh off Mike Timlin, adding another run to the Twins' padding, 9-6. Monroe hit a three-run homer in the second off Tim Wakefield.

Marilyn Monroe was at the Metrodme tonight as part of Mother's Day festivities. Monroe said his mother always has been kidded about her name.

[ Liza ] says:
on May 11, 2008 10:59 PM

Ha. Wow.

Aw, crap, Papi. C'mon, Youk...!

[ 1863_project ] says:
on May 11, 2008 11:00 PM

[ Liza ] says:
on May 11, 2008 11:01 PM

I don't trust Mikey in the clutch...

[ 1863_project ] says:
on May 11, 2008 11:01 PM

Okay, Youk, that's a start! Nice!

[ blood and whiskey ] says:
on May 11, 2008 11:02 PM

..Mikey?
Mike Lowell?

[ Liza ] says:
on May 11, 2008 11:03 PM

B&W, were you there for Piney's infamous clutch-commenting?

[ 1863_project ] says:
on May 11, 2008 11:03 PM

...Manny with a bat. Hmmmm.

[ Liza ] says:
on May 11, 2008 11:03 PM

Will anyone else not be surprised if Manny pinch-hits for Coco?

[ blood and whiskey ] says:
on May 11, 2008 11:03 PM

oh, Liza, yes.
I'm just talking to myself, is all.

[ Liza ] says:
on May 11, 2008 11:04 PM

[ Liza ] says:

[ Ian ] says:

[ Liza ] says:

on May 11, 2008 11:10 PM

Yep--never mind. It's Coco then Manny.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 11, 2008 11:10 PM

Liza think about it for a second. Do you want to take out your slow catcher or fast outfielder.

[ Di ] says:
on May 11, 2008 11:11 PM

uh oh, watch out now.

[ Liza ] says:
on May 11, 2008 11:11 PM

Kristina, me too. Me too.

REMEMBER A YEAR AGO GUYS

[ 1863_project ] says:
on May 11, 2008 11:11 PM

DAMNIT.

[ Liza ] says:
on May 11, 2008 11:12 PM

Yeah, but Cash has some hits tonight. Jacoby hasn't been doing much at the plate lately at all.

Oh man... 9-8!!

[ 1863_project ] says:
on May 11, 2008 11:12 PM

We got a run in, but damnit - oh, wait, Manny's up. This could just be destiny here...

[ Piney61 ] says:

Ouch crappy luck there.

[ blood and whiskey ] says:
on May 11, 2008 11:12 PM

Shit/OMFG

[ fc ] says:
on May 11, 2008 11:12 PM

Drew is out, crap. But it's a 1-run game.
And did I see Mikey limping?

[ Mary ] says:

Oh Manny, my lovely lovely Manny.

Pleaseee get a hit :D

[ Liza ] says:
on May 11, 2008 11:13 PM

Nicely done, Coco!

[ blood and whiskey ] says:

COCO steals.

[ Liza ] says:

G'night all! I actually have school in the morning :(

[ Liza ] says:
on May 11, 2008 11:18 PM

Same, Mary... I should go do my reading. Heh.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 11, 2008 11:19 PM

I have school tomorrow morning as well.

Tomorrow's class schedule is Sleeping 101 followed by Napping 101, then Siesta 101.

[ blood and whiskey ] says:
on May 11, 2008 11:19 PM

well..at least it was exciting.
(shrugs)
I have a big week ahead of me, so at least I got an exciting game in before the nonsense starts..

[ Ian ] says:
on May 11, 2008 11:20 PM

That's what makes this team great Piney. We may whine and complain they are getting blown out, but in the end they never give up and always give it their all no matter what's happening.

It's the mark of great leadership from the manager and a mark of a championship team.

[ njdevils ] says:

I have school tommorow, too. And I still have a bunch of homework and studying to do.

Ian, is your school accepting any new students? I'd sure like to go there! =P

[ 1863_project ] says:
on May 11, 2008 11:21 PM

Well, at least they made a great game of it! I love that effort - they play with their hearts, and that's why they're so good.

Besides, we've got tomorrow, anyway. And it's only May, so why panic now?

[ fc ] says:
on May 11, 2008 11:21 PM

I have school tomorrow morning...I work at a school.

[ njdevils ] says:
on May 11, 2008 11:22 PM

Well said, Ian.

[ Di ] says:
on May 11, 2008 11:22 PM

I second that nj. Night everyone

[ Ian ] says:
on May 11, 2008 11:22 PM

Ian: I got a big day tomorrow. You guys have a great time.

High School/College Student: A big day? Doing what?

Ian: Well, um, actually a pretty nice little Saturday, we're going to go to Home Depot. Yeah, buy some wallpaper, maybe get some flooring, stuff like that. Maybe Bed, Bath, & Beyond, I don't know, I don't know if we'll have enough time.

[ 1863_project ] says:
on May 11, 2008 11:22 PM

(IS DONE UNTIL SEPTEMBER!) ...of course, it's not like I'll be doing nothing - I'm gonna get a job! (is, unlike most people, excited about working)

[ fc ] says:
on May 11, 2008 11:25 PM

I had the most exciting visit to Home Depot recently, impulse-buying new switchplates! Now that's excitement.

[ njdevils ] says:

Cool, Steph! I'm pretty much done for my 3 AP classes because we had to learn everything before the exams, so now we're just going to watch movies in those classes, but I still have to work in the rest of my classes...

[ Ian ] says:
on May 11, 2008 11:26 PM

PS.. I stole that from Old School

My school only accepts people over 18. :D

Thanks for the comments on the video from this morning peoples. Glad y'all enjoyed it.

I'm just shocked it took Steph until 10:00 PM tonight to notice it.

[ 1863_project ] says:

I'm actually running errands tomorrow, too - buying new internet cables. Fun stuff. (is mock-excited)

...I'm calling it a night here - g'night, everyone!

[ 1863_project ] says:
on May 11, 2008 11:27 PM

Ian, that's because I wasn't on my computer all day! I was pretty much doing stuff around the house and hadn't been on at all...

NJ - aren't AP classes the best for exactly that reason?

[ Ian ] says:
on May 11, 2008 11:28 PM

I know the feeling fc, I got all excited the other day when I got the mail and found out I had won a $50 gift certficiate from Lowes on WRKO (Flagship station of the Red Sox).

I was so pumped to get a new garbage can for the apartment plus a set of blinds to replace the ones in the bathroom.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 11, 2008 11:29 PM

I wasn't on my either today shockingly. I did my morning post and then left the house for the day. Did a quick post before I left the parentals. and watched the survivor finale on the split screen on the widescreen.

I do have to say this. Next time Tito has to do an in-game interview, he needs to make sure Big Papi isn't in the vicinity. That's the second time he's done that. He did it once in spring training as well.

[ 1863_project ] says:
on May 11, 2008 11:31 PM

Alright, I'm leaving for real now...g'night, all!

[ njdevils ] says:
on May 11, 2008 11:31 PM

Yep, Steph! I only have one exam left, but after that, I'll have three less textbooks to carry! Yay!
