Since people hate being first with the comments, I've started it off for y'all. LOL.

[ fc ] says:
on May 12, 2008 7:00 PM

Hey, I resemble that remark.

[ Erin ] says:
on May 12, 2008 7:01 PM

Hello everyone!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on May 12, 2008 7:03 PM

Hey all...just checking in. The game is on TV here again, so I'll be in the other room for the most part, but will probably pop back in here and there...

[ Bethie ] says:
on May 12, 2008 7:05 PM

Hey all! Happy there is no Joe Morgan tonight. :)

[ jules ] says:
on May 12, 2008 7:06 PM

Hi All!

ecl, you should be happy that Manny is playing tonight.

I hope I can watch the game on NESN, the ESPN announcers (omg, Joe Morgan) drive me out of my mind.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 12, 2008 7:06 PM

instead you have steve phillips who's pretty bad too. I'll stick with remdawg and d.o.

[ jules ] says:
on May 12, 2008 7:10 PM

NESN didn't kick me off. I'm loving the season of NESN ;-)

DO and Remdawg are just what I need after this day. A win would be great, too.

COCO!

[ fc ] says:
on May 12, 2008 7:10 PM

What has gotten into Coco?

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 12, 2008 7:10 PM

3 days without Red Sox baseball? Not fun.

[ jenny again ] says:
on May 12, 2008 7:10 PM

back in massachusetts after three days in minneapolis - saw some good baseball, GOT DUSTIN PEDROIA TO SIGN MY JERSEY - but it's nice to be home again.

[ jules ] says:
on May 12, 2008 7:11 PM

Welcome back, Texy. I hope you had a nice time in OK.

[ jenny again ] says:
on May 12, 2008 7:12 PM

nice wheels there, dusty. ;D

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 12, 2008 7:13 PM

Oklahoma? Not fun.

Welcome back to you, too, jenny!

[ Bethie ] says:
on May 12, 2008 7:13 PM

Welcome back TG and Jenny.

Jenny, that is too cool Dustin signed your jersey. I think I would faint.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 12, 2008 7:13 PM

At least the replay showed the ump got it right.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 12, 2008 7:13 PM

Papi! And a Coco run and early lead. Yay.

[ jules ] says:
on May 12, 2008 7:14 PM

jenny, Pleats autograph on your jersey is so cool. I'd love Paps' autograph on mine. I hear they sign more readily for kids, I'll send my daughter out with my jersey ;-)

[ Ian ] says:
on May 12, 2008 7:14 PM

small ball sox. double sacrifice weak single = 1 run

[ choco ] says:
on May 12, 2008 7:15 PM

YAY! 498

[ fc ] says:
on May 12, 2008 7:15 PM

498!

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 12, 2008 7:15 PM

SH-BOOM!

[ Ian ] says:
on May 12, 2008 7:15 PM

498 498 498 498

[ jules ] says:
on May 12, 2008 7:15 PM

498!!!!!!!

MANNNNNNNY!

My next jersey—24.

[ Bethie ] says:
on May 12, 2008 7:15 PM

498!!! Holy shit!

Happy Dance!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on May 12, 2008 7:17 PM

So happy I'm crying. Manny just made my week.

[ jules ] says:
on May 12, 2008 7:18 PM

ecl, that was awesome.

You're going to be an absolute wreck when he hits 500.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 12, 2008 7:18 PM

Maybe that will wake Manny's bat up now. Plus he's got a lot to live up too now since he said he was the best left fielder the Red Sox have ever had.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on May 12, 2008 7:18 PM

So happy I'm crying. Manny just made my week.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 12, 2008 7:20 PM

These guys will learn that you really shouldn't run on Cuddyer or Young. Those two have absolute cannon arms.

SOMEONE PLEASE MAKE NESN STOP WITH THE SOUND EFFECTS.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on May 12, 2008 7:20 PM

Sorry for the double post.
Sorry for the double post.

LOL...the only trouble, jules, is that there's no guarantee I'll get to see 500 as it happens. C'est la vie. I knew 498 was gone as soon as it left his bat. Pretty, pretty, pretty HR, Manny!

[ jules ] says:
on May 12, 2008 7:22 PM

Ian, at least we're not listening to Joe ;-)

But we get Bob's furniture.

ecl, I'm sure between Ian and Texy, there will be video.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 12, 2008 7:23 PM

I do love Cuddyer.

Let's go Clay - get that away ERA down.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 12, 2008 7:23 PM

Manny's going to get it to 499 and then wait until they get back to the Fens to hit 500

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 12, 2008 7:24 PM

Yeah- Ian has TOTALLY horned in on my video posting niche! ;)

[ Ian ] says:
on May 12, 2008 7:24 PM

And I'm calling it now, Manny hits #500 off of Gagne this weekend.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 12, 2008 7:25 PM

THAT WOULD BE POETIC.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 12, 2008 7:25 PM

Yes I have but it's worked out good for the times when you're away.

And wow that was a nasty ass curveball.

[ fc ] says:
on May 12, 2008 7:25 PM

TG, Ian TOTALLY took advantage of your absence to whip videos up on his blog.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 12, 2008 7:26 PM

Shocking, that Ian- stealing my gig.

I'm going to start posting news roundups in protest.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 12, 2008 7:27 PM

Plus it also helps that I have a DVR thing for the computer. BTW, I knew Big Papi mocked Tito last year and I posted that up this afternoon..

[ Ian ] says:
on May 12, 2008 7:28 PM

Why am I getting picked on???? :D I'm the only male brave enough to hang around here for a whole game.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 12, 2008 7:29 PM

Warms my heart to see Casey back at 1B.

(and Ian, we pick because we care)

[ Ian ] says:
on May 12, 2008 7:30 PM

AWWWWW you care ;)

Casey should play again tomorrow or Wednesday so Tito can give Mikey a break.

[ jules ] says:
on May 12, 2008 7:30 PM

It's just like picking on our little brother ;-)

[ Ian ] says:
on May 12, 2008 7:31 PM

But I could be older than you (37) and you're picking on you're older brother.

[ jules ] says:
on May 12, 2008 7:31 PM

Come on Stickbug! Let's get out of this.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 12, 2008 7:31 PM

FUCK ian, its you're older brother, it's your. get your shit together will ya.

[ jules ] says:
on May 12, 2008 7:31 PM

Ha! I'm not biting ;-)

[ Avery ] says:
on May 12, 2008 7:32 PM

Come on Clay :)

[ jules ] says:
on May 12, 2008 7:32 PM

Ugh.

JD, that did NOT help.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 12, 2008 7:32 PM

double fuck ian, you can't get the correction right. it's not you're older brother. it's your. double get your shit together will ya.

[ Bethie ] says:
on May 12, 2008 7:33 PM

I wish Steve Phillips wouldn't start talking about Travis Hafner during Red Sox coverage where they are NOT playing the Indians. Please and thank you.

Crap, 2 Twins runs.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 12, 2008 7:33 PM

LOL Jules, I wasn't trying to make you bite at that.

I know better than to ask about age.

[ jules ] says:
on May 12, 2008 7:34 PM

;-)

[ Avery ] says:
on May 12, 2008 7:35 PM

I still feel behind with game day :(

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 12, 2008 7:35 PM

We already hear enough about Pronk when we ARE playing the Indians.

I'm so glad I have NESN.

[ fc ] says:
on May 12, 2008 7:36 PM

I'm not liking this inning.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 12, 2008 7:37 PM

Who else is doing the game on ESPN? Dan Shulman and Orel Hershiser with Steve "I got fired by the Mets".

Speaking of the Mets, they are planning to start Johan Santana on Friday night against the Yankees.

[ Bethie ] says:
on May 12, 2008 7:37 PM

I have a friend that lives in Mass, and she keeps trying to talk me into moving there. It might be worth it just for the better sports coverage.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 12, 2008 7:38 PM

Your weather is much better. It's fahking freezing here again today.

[ jenny again ] says:
on May 12, 2008 7:38 PM

for a break in the action:

for the curious, here is my post about pedroia signing my jersey friday night at the metrodome. ;D

[ Ian ] says:
on May 12, 2008 7:39 PM

One other thing we get Jules on NESN is these annoying Olympia Sports ads.

[ Bethie ] says:
on May 12, 2008 7:42 PM

I could almost trade your winters for our summers. I swear hell is cooler than NC in July/August.

[ jules ] says:
on May 12, 2008 7:43 PM

Ian, I *HATE* those ads!

Y'all can have some of our heat. It's in the 80's today, but is going to be in the 100's this week. Just hateful summer weather.

[ jenny again ] says:
on May 12, 2008 7:43 PM

another break-in-the-action story:

a nice lady at the airport this afternoon saw me wearing my blue beckett t and came over to tell me that she'd just seen josh beckett - and had him sign an autograph for her 87-year-old aunt, which she showed me - and that he was with another ballplayer she didn't recognize. we pieced together that it was lester flying to baltimore with beckett, ten gates away from where i was flying home. i did not have a chance to go see beckett (my flight was boarding when i learned of his being there) but it was so awesome to hear he was there - with lester - and the nice lady's husband wanted me to know that they were both wearing cowboy boots. man, i love stuff like that. eee. ;D

yes, it was a great trip to the twin cities.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 12, 2008 7:43 PM

Oh I know that Bethie. When I was in NC last, it was like 100 plus outside and that was at the beach.

[ Bethie ] says:
on May 12, 2008 7:45 PM

ooh Beckettand Lester in Boots??? Sweet.

I think I probably would have missed my plane. That's too nice of a spying opportunity.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 12, 2008 7:46 PM

Cloudy, then gradually becoming partly cloudy, with a low around 42. Wind chill in the mid 30's.North wind between 15 and 18 mph.

Someone needs to remind mother nature it's May.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on May 12, 2008 7:46 PM

So Ian, if your prediction is correct, I'll get to see #500. The Saturday and Sunday games are on TV here. I'm also planning to watch the Mets/NYY Sunday night. Overload? Naaaaah. BTW, Bethie and I are NOT having good weather down here. Cold and very windy. In the 40s last night, too cold for May in NC.

I must say, of the ESPN announcers, I don't mind Orel Hershiser for some reason.

[ jenny again ] says:
on May 12, 2008 7:46 PM

oh MAN dusty yikes! (!!!)

[ Ian ] says:
on May 12, 2008 7:46 PM

WOW. what a grab there by Livan.

[ Lulu ] says:
on May 12, 2008 7:47 PM

what happened to DP? I'm watching on gameday.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 12, 2008 7:48 PM

That is unless it happens on Friday night ecl.

[ Bethie ] says:
on May 12, 2008 7:48 PM

Our weather has been bizarre down here the past few weeks. I got to see the remnants of a tornado wall cloud pass by my house yesterday. Followed about 15 minutes later by hail. The 4th day of that we have had in 3 weeks. Weird.

I think Mother Nature is having a killer mood swing in the South.

[ jules ] says:
on May 12, 2008 7:49 PM

That was quite a catch. He's acting like his hand is sore.

[ jenny again ] says:
on May 12, 2008 7:49 PM

DP just lined out to the pitcher - almost took his noggin off!

[ fc ] says:
on May 12, 2008 7:50 PM

That's what you get when you snag something right off one of our bats like that.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on May 12, 2008 7:50 PM

Bethie, you got that right about summers down here. I'm heat intolerant due to having MS. The ONLY reason I'm able to live here is because the mountains are just a tad cooler than everywhere else. Still, it's pretty unbearable during high summer. There's a part of me that wants to move back up north because one can always add layers when it's cold. When it's hot, there's not much to be done about it.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on May 12, 2008 7:51 PM

Ian -- NO! Not Friday night. :-(

[ Ellen ] says:
on May 12, 2008 7:51 PM

That's a great DP signing your shirt story, Jenny!

[ jenny again ] says:
on May 12, 2008 7:53 PM

ellen - i am the luckiest girl who ever got lucky. ;D so so so psyched about it all, still. eee.

[ fc ] says:
on May 12, 2008 7:53 PM

I think Pedroia signed Hernandez' hand.

[ jules ] says:
on May 12, 2008 7:59 PM

Gotta run! Time to do that cooking dinner thing (fajitas tonight).

[ Ian ] says:
on May 12, 2008 8:03 PM

I'll take a plate of those fajitas

[ fc ] says:
on May 12, 2008 8:03 PM

A nice effort, but more stranded runners.

[ jenny again ] says:
on May 12, 2008 8:09 PM

c'mon, stickbug. EXECUTE F@#KING PITCHES. (love, josh)

[ Bethie ] says:
on May 12, 2008 8:09 PM

BTW, Ian. Thanks for posting the Tito/Ortiz video from last nigh on your sitet. I had missed it. Totally worth locking up my piece of crap computer to see it! :)

[ jenny again ] says:
on May 12, 2008 8:17 PM

ok, that could have been much worse.

let's go, BATS.

[ Bethie ] says:
on May 12, 2008 8:17 PM

Nice DP! Whew.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on May 12, 2008 8:20 PM

Okay, that commercial was just plain bizarre...the woman with the eyebrows. Geesh.

[ jenny again ] says:
on May 12, 2008 8:23 PM

COME ON PEDEY!!!

[ jenny again ] says:
on May 12, 2008 8:26 PM

way to battle, kiddo ...

[ jenny again ] says:
on May 12, 2008 8:27 PM

awww, RATS.

[ fc ] says:
on May 12, 2008 8:28 PM

jennyA you have constructed a wonderfully concise narrative.

[ jenny again ] says:
on May 12, 2008 8:30 PM

note to self: talking to yourself is cool!

;D

[ Liza ] says:
on May 12, 2008 8:33 PM

Hey everyone! Nice to see Casey back out there :)

How'd the runs score?

(I literally just got home from my softball game. Which was in the freezing cold. In May. Lots of fun.)

[ Jolie ] says:
on May 12, 2008 8:35 PM

which runs? ours or theirs?

all I know is Manny got #498. The rest...I don't know, doing the french homework :/

[ Liza ] says:
on May 12, 2008 8:36 PM

Uh... both? But Manny! Jeez--he has to stop hitting these things when I can't be there to watch them.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 12, 2008 8:37 PM

you're welcome bethie.

nice to see claynation go 1-2-3 for once tonight.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 12, 2008 8:39 PM

Skanks down 5-0 in top of the 5th to 2nd place Rays

[ Jolie ] says:
on May 12, 2008 8:42 PM

according to gameday:
top 1st: Crisp doubled, DP sac bunt, Papi sings, Crisp scores, Manny homer
bot 1st: Harris singles, Mauer singles, Morneau singles, Harris and Mauer score

bot 3rd: Mauer walks, Morneau singles, Cuddyer singles, Mauer scores

[ njdevils ] says:
on May 12, 2008 8:42 PM

Hey, everybody!
I just got in from National Honors Society inductions. It was pretty boring (and I would have rather been watching the game), but I guess it'll look good on college apps and stuff.

Did I miss anything good?

[ choco ] says:
on May 12, 2008 8:43 PM

Liza- if you go here: http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/gameday/index.jsp?gid=2008_05_12_bosmlb_minmlb_1&mode=gameday

then, beneath the picture of the batter there, you can go to pitch-by-pitch, play-by-play, or scoring plays. Go to scoring plays and you can see video and stuff.

1st inning: Coco got a double and scored by a single from Ortiz. Then Manny hit a home run. That's ours, and I forget how they got theirs.

[ choco ] says:
on May 12, 2008 8:44 PM

Nevermind, Jolie already did it.

Note to everyone: Ignore me.

[ Liza ] says:
on May 12, 2008 8:46 PM

Thanks guys--Gameday makes my computer flip out, though. I liked last year's better. :P

And congrats, NJ, even if it was boring!

[ Jolie ] says:
on May 12, 2008 8:46 PM

choco- haha, yes. That is how I survive. GAMEDAY FTW.

[ njdevils ] says:
on May 12, 2008 8:48 PM

Thanks, Liza.

I live on GameDay, too. It's faster than MLB Audio, though, which makes it confusing sometimes, but I don't know what I'd do without it.

[ Liza ] says:
on May 12, 2008 8:48 PM

Yeesh. Not looking good for Buch.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on May 12, 2008 8:49 PM

Hey congrats, nj! Yes, that's a good thing to have on your resume'.

(sigh...MFSOB)...

[ fc ] says:
on May 12, 2008 8:49 PM

Bad.
badbadbad

[ Ian ] says:
on May 12, 2008 8:49 PM

FLUCK~

[ Bethie ] says:
on May 12, 2008 8:51 PM

Oh boy. Here comes L-L-L-opez.

*covers eyes*

[ Erin ] says:
on May 12, 2008 8:52 PM

Aside from his game in Tampa Bay, why can't Buchholz do well on the road?

[ jenny again ] says:
on May 12, 2008 8:54 PM

sometimes buck likes to remind me how young he really is. he'll grow into himself! i know he will ...

[ Ian ] says:
on May 12, 2008 8:55 PM

At least the Celtics are playing better tonight

[ Liza ] says:
on May 12, 2008 8:55 PM

I have no idea--scouts have said he has "ice water running through his veins" so I don't think he gets nervous... maybe he just likes consistency?

[ Ian ] says:
on May 12, 2008 8:55 PM

and Britney looked good tonight on How I met your mother

[ Liza ] says:
on May 12, 2008 8:57 PM

Drew 3-for-3? I'll take it...

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 12, 2008 8:57 PM

I never thought I'd say this, but: I wish all our bats were swinging as hot as JD's bat.

[ choco ] says:
on May 12, 2008 8:58 PM

I hope the Celtics win! Though I've been told I'm not allowed to follow them, because everytime I start following a team, they make it to the playoffs and then fail (see for reference: 2003 Red Sox, 2007 Patriots, 2007 Bruins). I'll start following them next year...

[ Piney61 ] says:
on May 12, 2008 8:58 PM

HIMYM, The Office, and Top Chef are seriously the only three shows I watch on a consistent basis. And good to know, but don't gimme spoilers yet, it's being DVR'd and I'm gonna watch it soon.

Also, I'm not too concerned about the Red Sox....I got a feeling they could win this even if they're down by 4

[ Ian ] says:
on May 12, 2008 8:59 PM

Did anyone else hear that guy yelling come varitek swing the bat. GODDDDDDDDDDDDd

[ Liza ] says:
on May 12, 2008 8:59 PM

HA. Youk and Manny crack me up.

Youk: I totally mocked your batting stance at softball today, so you should not be talking.

[ fc ] says:
on May 12, 2008 9:00 PM

Um..exactly what were we watching there (Youk/Manny).

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 12, 2008 9:01 PM

Youk ripping on Tek = awesome
Manny reminding Youk to also rip on Casey = awesomer

[ fc ] says:
on May 12, 2008 9:01 PM

Suitable for posting?

[ choco ] says:
on May 12, 2008 9:02 PM

I love The Office! I just started watching it but I love it.

It's not my typical type of show I watch, but I really like it. I love to laugh, but my typical shows are about spies or figuring out crimes.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 12, 2008 9:04 PM

Video, fc? Surely- will do.

And I hate HATE sitcoms, but I watch the Office and 30 Rock.

[ Jolie ] says:
on May 12, 2008 9:05 PM

aww I missed Youk and Manny snark? damn.

The Office is some pretty funny stuff!

also...I'm the only crazy one who has liked JD Drew all this time, huh.

[ njdevils ] says:
on May 12, 2008 9:06 PM

Yay, video! Thanks, TG!
(By the way, I sent you an e-mail last week, and I was wondering if you got it...I don't remember if I put a subject or not, so it might have gone to your spam folder...)

[ Piney61 ] says:
on May 12, 2008 9:06 PM

Oo yeah, 30 Rock! That's one I've been slowly getting into.

I'm not too sold on much TV these days. Hell with How I Met Your Mother, it took me a little bit to get into it(It didn't really pick up until like halfway into the first season) and most other actual sitcoms are just godawful or used to be good but are in their final seasons and suck(Scrubs, anybody?)

[ Ian ] says:
on May 12, 2008 9:06 PM

I watch every Monday night on CBS from 8-11. Than CSI NY and CSI vegas. my name is earl and the office

[ Jolie ] says:
on May 12, 2008 9:06 PM

haha Alex Cora has a .700 batting average. WHOA BABY.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 12, 2008 9:06 PM

i agree Piney. Scrubs lost it's luster this year.

[ choco ] says:
on May 12, 2008 9:06 PM

Casey at bat is so funny. I saw him at Pawtucket and whenever he was up I started laughing hysterically. I was with a girl who didn't know (or really care) about baseball and she's like "what's your problem?" and I'm like "dude, look at Sean Casey! I love him..."

(For the record, the only reason I went with a girl who didn't even care about baseball is because we got AWESOME free tickets and my mom was taking my sister horseback riding, my dad had to work, my neighbor was celebrating his anniversary, so we asked some family friends, so the 22 year old guy was taking me along with his girlfriend, and so he took his younger sister that's my age.)

[ fc ] says:
on May 12, 2008 9:08 PM

Jolie, I've been a JD supporter, although I can't say I've always liked his performance (and neither did he). And I just caught the tail end of Youk/Manny but I think the video will be coming to a blog near you soon.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on May 12, 2008 9:09 PM

Other than news, weather and sports, I don't watch TV to speak of. Can't remember the last time I followed a show.

[ Liza ] says:
on May 12, 2008 9:09 PM

I... don't watch any TV except baseball. I'm a cool person like that.

Choco, do you ride horses too? (I'm not being creepy, you don't have to answer if you don't want--I ride, and if you do too, then I think we really are the same person.)

[ choco ] says:
on May 12, 2008 9:10 PM

Jolie- I've loved J.D. for quite a while! Even when he was struggling.

By the way- does anyone know what his son had? I thought I heard some kind of hip problem... (I was born with some hip problem but the doctor caught it and fixed it so it's pretty normal now. I have some limitations as to sitting positions and my running is slow, but other than that it's fantabulous)

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on May 12, 2008 9:10 PM

I wanna see that video too. Whatever happened must have been while I was fixing a snack.

[ fc ] says:
on May 12, 2008 9:10 PM

This is ugly.

[ Piney61 ] says:
on May 12, 2008 9:11 PM

Yeah as much as they lost their luster, I still think Scrubs should at least get a proper sendoff. I think they're moving to ABC for their final season just so they can do that last season over and end it on a good note. They were gonna end this year but due to teh writer's strike, they got a little screwed over. Though I probably won't watch the episodes leading up to the last one, but I'll watch the last one. I'm weird like that.

This Writer's Strike kinda mixed everything up.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 12, 2008 9:14 PM

Nice pickoff.

the writer's strike messed all of tv up but they got what they deserved so it's ok.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 12, 2008 9:15 PM

Video will come, I swearrrrrrrrrr.

I strongly dislike these cutoff sleeve unis.

[ Liza ] says:
on May 12, 2008 9:15 PM

Choco, I loved JD all last year too! And it was hip dysplasia.

[ Jolie ] says:
on May 12, 2008 9:17 PM

Choco, all I knew was that his son was one years old and in a bodycast.

[ Jolie ] says:
on May 12, 2008 9:17 PM

...what Liza said! /slow

[ fc ] says:
on May 12, 2008 9:18 PM

OK, that was some nice fielding.

[ blood and whiskey ] says:
on May 12, 2008 9:19 PM

I loved JD too!
I lurk quite frequently, btw..

[ choco ] says:
on May 12, 2008 9:20 PM

Liza-- I don't think that question is creepy. Anyways, I used to ride in the 6th-8th grade (actually, it was with the friend that I went to the Paw Sox game with) but then I started playing softball and I started choosing sleeping over waking up early to go riding and stuff. My sister is the real horse person, but sometimes I go to the barn and ride a little.

And do you like Carlos Gomez? I really love him. Just throwing this out there- he's adorable. And go figure he's a centerfielder. I love Mauer, too.

[ fc ] says:
on May 12, 2008 9:21 PM

And ftr, JD's bat got hot as soon as his boy was out of the body cast.

[ blood and whiskey ] says:
on May 12, 2008 9:22 PM

bahahha, nice catch.

[ Liza ] says:
on May 12, 2008 9:22 PM

Better safe than sorry. And that's awesome--I've been taking lessons for almost four years and I totally love it. Of course, my teacher's at college now so I haven't actually been taking lessons this winter, but I still ride when I can and love love love it when I can.

Yeah! Gomez is awesome.

Nice catch. Wow.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 12, 2008 9:23 PM

that was pretty fahkin funny

[ Liza ] says:
on May 12, 2008 9:24 PM

And fc, don't forget, his wife was pregnant throughout the entire season. She had the kid (a girl) literally a few days after JD got home from the victory parade in Boston.

[ njdevils ] says:
on May 12, 2008 9:24 PM

Choco, YES to the Carlos Gomez question!
The only part about him I don't like, aside from him not playing for the Sox, is that he has the same last name as Scott Gomez (Scotty used to play for the NJ Devils, but then he went to the Rangers).

[ Jolie ] says:
on May 12, 2008 9:25 PM

goes to show how hard his son's disability hit him

[ Ian ] says:
on May 12, 2008 9:27 PM

his wife also had a very hard pregnancy as well plus having to take care of his son too. It'll wear on ya. They are human after all

[ Liza ] says:
on May 12, 2008 9:28 PM

He's a family-oriented guy, I think. He grew up in a town with about 1,500 people, in any case.

[ njdevils ] says:
on May 12, 2008 9:31 PM

Here's an article on Drew with a bunch of good quotes.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 12, 2008 9:31 PM

Celtics down 2 at the half.

CLEVELAND'S ASDRUBAL CABRERA RECORDED AN UNASSISTED TRIPLE PLAY IN THE TOP OF THE FIFTH INNING against the blue jays. IT WAS THE 14TH UNASSISTED TRIPLE PLAY IN MAJOR LEAGUE HISTORY.

[ Liza ] says:
on May 12, 2008 9:33 PM

...with Troy Trevor Tulowitzki being the 13th!

[ choco ] says:
on May 12, 2008 9:33 PM

Did you see the segment on The Ultimate Red Sox Show where he goes back to his hometown?

[ choco ] says:
on May 12, 2008 9:33 PM

I was talking about J.D. Drew, by the way.

[ Liza ] says:
on May 12, 2008 9:33 PM

Yes, I did! Both parts.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 12, 2008 9:33 PM

I have that up on my blog somewhere Choco and I'm too lazy to look up what posts it is in. I'm sure it's up on NESN's site though since they revamped it.

[ njdevils ] says:
on May 12, 2008 9:34 PM

I didn't realize Drew was so religious; he cried during Passion of the Christ:

"The film moved Drew in ways he'd never felt. There, on the big screen, was the man to whom he had devoted his life; a man who suffered and suffered, then finally fulfilled his destiny. Besides causing tears to stream down Drew's cheeks, it gave him a new perspective.

"I've had my trials and tribulations," he says. "But whatever happens, in the end I'm just a baseball player. I'm not the savior. I'm not special. I'm just human. I can only be me.""

[ Ian ] says:
on May 12, 2008 9:34 PM

and i meant to add, they showed that way back in the beginning of the spring training.

[ Liza ] says:
on May 12, 2008 9:35 PM

He's quite religious--he met his wife at his hometown's church. Most of them are.

[ Di ] says:
on May 12, 2008 9:35 PM

Hi everyone. just got back from work. What the hell happened? We are on our 3rd pitcher? wow.

[ Liza ] says:
on May 12, 2008 9:35 PM

*them = baseball players.

I am so tired.

[ Jolie ] says:
on May 12, 2008 9:35 PM

-sniffs- this just makes me want to give JD a big ole hug right now

[ njdevils ] says:
on May 12, 2008 9:36 PM

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 12, 2008 9:36 PM

They first played that segment back in December, I think - and ran it through spring training... and they've been playing it again.

It's still cute - and I've seen it 5 or 6 times.

[ choco ] says:
on May 12, 2008 9:36 PM

J.D. Drew is so freaking cool.

My pastor referred to him in a sermon once. Something about his post season grand slam.

[ fc ] says:
on May 12, 2008 9:37 PM

Ian, I think they even showed a piece of it - maybe just a teaser? - during the winter meetings.

[ Ian ] says:
on May 12, 2008 9:38 PM

like i said NJ, I'm too lazy to go look. I can only multitask so much. I'm working on my softball site, watching the Red Sox and the Celtics plus watching the Indians/blue jays game.

[ Liza ] says:
on May 12, 2008 9:38 PM

It's adorable. I'm not religious, personally, but the parts where he talks about his family and his childhood are just so cute.

Hey, speaking of which...

[ Di ] says:
on May 12, 2008 9:40 PM

jenny, I just saw your post about Beckett...I would have slept in the airport to get him to sign my shirt. Sad I know but he's my fave

[ choco ] says:
on May 12, 2008 9:40 PM

Haha- Don and Remy!!

[ Ian ] says:
on May 12, 2008 9:40 PM

the link is part 2 that you posted NJ. Luckily for once i was smart enough to post a link to the first video.

D.O. stole pajamas from Japan Airlines. These guys must be bored. talkign about D.O's packing skills.

[ Di ] says:
on May 12, 2008 9:40 PM

oh God I love watching NESN and hearing Orsillo and Remy argue about stolen pjs

[ Ian ] says:
on May 12, 2008 9:41 PM

they're great pjs. they're soft

[ Liza ] says:
on May 12, 2008 9:41 PM

[ fc ] says:
on May 12, 2008 9:42 PM

Remy loves travelling.

[ njdevils ] says:
on May 12, 2008 9:43 PM

[ fc ] says:

someone call Japanese Airlines and report him. LOL.

[ jenny again ] says:
on May 12, 2008 9:44 PM

di - yeah, i'm kind of regretting my decision to be responsible and get on my plane this afternoon. i was wearing my beckett t, too! should've taken one for the team and gone looking for him. ;D could've been epic if the airline had had to page me to get the hell on my flight ...

i call a do-over! ;D

[ Di ] says:
on May 12, 2008 9:47 PM

If I could I would call a do over for you and send you my shirt as well. I've been hinting to my bro to try and get me an autograph [insert item here] from Becks for my bday. We'll see how that goes

[ Liza ] says:
on May 12, 2008 9:50 PM

Yeow--I hope he's okay. Ankle rolls are freakin' painful.

[ ecl1958 ] says:

[ Di ] says:
on May 12, 2008 9:54 PM

I love how Remy slipped that investigation into the commentary

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 12, 2008 9:55 PM

jenny: SO close (and yet so far away) :)

I found out a few weeks ago that the daughter of a close family friend is dating a Sox pitching prospect -- and since he's (the prospect) also from the Houston area, he's tight with Beckett. I will shamelessly work that connection, yes.

[ Di ] says:
on May 12, 2008 9:56 PM

and you are my new bf TG

[ choco ] says:
on May 12, 2008 9:57 PM

I say we have a rally inning where we take the lead and then shut down their offensive in the 9th. (If that happens- I totally called it.)

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 12, 2008 9:58 PM

I like the way you think, choco.

[ Di ] says:
on May 12, 2008 9:59 PM

i 2nd that

[ blood and whiskey ] says:
on May 12, 2008 10:00 PM

good idea..

[ Texas Gal ] says:

Wow. Lose 3 of 4. Not swell.

[ choco ] says:
on May 12, 2008 10:00 PM

Darn.

[ Ian ] says:

3 out of 4 to the TWINS. this was just a bad dream. RIGHT??????

[ ecl1958 ] says:

I'm kinda sorta stunned, myself.

[ Ian ] says:

I guess Commander Kickass will have to right the ship once again tomorrow night.

[ jenny again ] says:
on May 12, 2008 10:02 PM

ian - GOOD PLAN.

[ choco ] says:
on May 12, 2008 10:02 PM

Haha, thanks, TG. I hate being wrong, though. :(

By the way- I love those pictures at the top. When I was new to this blog I'd just keep refreshing the page to see all the pictures. =D

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on May 12, 2008 10:03 PM

At least you have some awesome memories from this weekend, jenny!

[ njdevils ] says:
on May 12, 2008 10:04 PM

Exactly, Ian!

I was watching "Becket" in AP Euro today (the story of Thomas Becket), but instead of the movie, my mind was thinking about a certain other person with a very similar last name...

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on May 12, 2008 10:04 PM

Wishing tomorrow's game were on TV here. I'll be listening and posting, though.

[ jules ] says:

What a (sucky) game. ugh.

[ jenny again ] says:
on May 12, 2008 10:05 PM

TG - TOTALLY. i wouldn't trade it for anything. eee.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on May 12, 2008 10:05 PM

So...what is the matter with our guys? Is it the dome curse? Shuffling of the lineup? Just one of those things?

[ Ian ] says:
on May 12, 2008 10:06 PM

the rays are about to be a half game out of first place

[ njdevils ] says:

=D

I too am going to do the sensible thing. Couldn't sleep last night. Today at the office on 4-1/2 hours of sleep was NOT fun...I'm surprised I stayed awake through the game tonight. So I'm about to get horizontal to make up for it. See everyone tomorrow night!

[ njdevils ] says:

Goodnight to everyone's who's going to bed...I'll still be up for a while, though (homework!).

[ LifelongSoxFan ] says:

Oi guys
I read this in some essay somewhere and thought it was bizarre.

" Becoming a member of a Christian dating service is not considered false, as long as the person takes in the rules of dating in Christianity. A search for a good Christian dating service produces countless results — there are too many to choose from. However, it pays to exercise prudence while contacting and signing up to these services."

Christians have rules for dating? Since when?
