Fight Night: Side Card

Coco Crisp wasn't the only Sox getting into a dustup last night. Manny Ramirez and Kevin Youkilis got into a fracas of their own... with each other.

During the break between the fourth and fifth innings, Manny and Youk exchanged words in the dugout-- about which no one knows (and Tito wasn't forthcoming in the post-game press conference). Whatever was said, it was enough to cause the normally placid Manny to go off on Kevin - delivering a slap to his head, and then a shove into the water cooler.

Alex Cora, Sean Casey and Josh Beckett (among others) quickly jumped in between the pair. Manny was carted off down to the clubhouse by a couple of guys (presumably to shove him under a cold shower to cool his jets) -- and Youk was left to wander bewildered on the field, asking Sean Casey what the hell just happened.

Here's video of the incident, caught on camera by NESN.

What the F, Manny. You're a veteran - ACT LIKE IT.

Maybe Youk was making fun of Manny's batting stance now?

Aw, that reminds me of that wonderful 'buddy' moment! And of course they spent the winter together at API. I hate to think what Youk might have said to set Zen Manny off like that.

Hey, I know: It was a classic dread vs. bald conflict.

It was uncalled for Manny to hit Youk. I know tempers where high because of the fight earlier, but there was no need to hit one of your own team mates. Totally uncool Manny!!!

Manny hit him because youk was yelling at him for not fighting in the brawl earlier

Anyone else waiting for Rice's commentary on this?

actually, call me weird, but if the reason for their fight is the real reason, and they're not just telling the media that so they'll stop asking them about the fight; it sounds like it was a topic worth speaking up for. not enough to hit somebody over, but speaking up about putting the team first as opposed to your indivudual numbers-unselfish guys are a huge reason why teams win championships. a few selfish guys on a team can take away all the positive stuff selfless players bring to the team.
i think the sox do a lot of things right, things that may not be visible to us and that they don't get credit for.
