Cross fingers the server problems are behind us.

Also, day baseball is an excellent cure/distraction for a wicked hangover from staying up late watching basketball.

[ Meghan ] says:
on June 18, 2008 1:06 PM

I had honestly forgotten this was a day game until a half hour ago. But I had already planned on staying home today so it works out well.

And Casey had a SB yesterday? That must have been awesome.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 18, 2008 1:07 PM

Basketball hangover, HA! I bet it was worth it, though!

I'll just be popping my head in from time to time, with the exception of lunch a little while from now. I hate that Manny's out for the day... :-( That'll teach him to imitate Colon!

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on June 18, 2008 1:10 PM

I love these cream-colored throwback unis the Phils are rockin' this year.

[ Liza ] says:
on June 18, 2008 1:13 PM

I actually get to watch a day game! Sweet.

Kendrick's beginning in the majors sounds like Justin Masterson's--call-up from AA because of a shorthanded pitching staff and being very successful.

And the Philies do have nice uniforms.

This is a nice start!

[ Jessi ] says:
on June 18, 2008 1:15 PM

JD DREWWWW

[ Meghan ] says:
on June 18, 2008 1:15 PM

I bet Japan sounds pretty good to Kendrick right about now.

And please, J.D., keep this up for the rest of the season:-D

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 18, 2008 1:16 PM

Late post of course...J.D. FTW! Amazing...

[ Liza ] says:
on June 18, 2008 1:16 PM

Two of my closest friends are going on a double date with their boyfriends today and poor little me wasn't invited. But that's okay... I've got my baseball boyfriend JD.

And Mikey!

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on June 18, 2008 1:16 PM

JD!
Mike!

It's a tater show this afternoon.

[ Jessi ] says:
on June 18, 2008 1:17 PM

Hell yes Mikey! Back-to-back!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 18, 2008 1:18 PM

Why do these home run derby type games always occur when I can't see them on TV? :-O

Thank goodness for Gameday, and hooray for Mikey!

[ Liza ] says:
on June 18, 2008 1:19 PM

Aww, look, they got an out.

[ Meghan ] says:
on June 18, 2008 1:25 PM

All of the lefties vs. Masteron scare me.

[ Liza ] says:
on June 18, 2008 1:25 PM

Okay, Justin. Calm down, bud.

[ Meghan ] says:
on June 18, 2008 1:26 PM

All of the lefties vs. Masteron in this park kinda scare me.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on June 18, 2008 1:28 PM

It was awesome that Remy barely got his statement out about JD being cold on the road trip... and then he hit a 3-run homer.

[ Liza ] says:
on June 18, 2008 1:30 PM

Agreed, Meghan.

Exhibit A: Ryan Howard.

...Did the server just bloop out for a minute, or was that my computer?

[ Meghan ] says:
on June 18, 2008 1:31 PM

Sorry about that last thing kind of posting twice...I tried to post it, it timed-out, so I refreshed to make sure it hadn't post and then typed it again...only to find both posted. Ugh.

[ Meghan ] says:
on June 18, 2008 1:34 PM

Lugo will hit 2 HR's and get an unassisted triple play today. Book it!

(I'm in a good mood from yesterday so I'm being very optimistic)

[ Liza ] says:
on June 18, 2008 1:36 PM

Justin actually bent his knees at the plate! Wow.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 18, 2008 1:37 PM

Meghan, better luck next time around for Lugo on the home runs! Unassisted triple play...LOL.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on June 18, 2008 1:39 PM

Geoff = Brett Favre

[ Kara ] says:
on June 18, 2008 1:41 PM

So really, I love watching pitchers bad. Masterson looked so cute!

I totally forgot the game was on right now till I was browsing around the guide looking for something to watch. A Sox win would so be an awesome way to celebrate the end of finals!

[ Liza ] says:
on June 18, 2008 1:45 PM

I'm jealous, Kara. As soon as the game's over, I have to go study for tomorrow. Ugh.

[ Meghan ] says:
on June 18, 2008 1:47 PM

When do you guys get out of school? My high school always got during the middle of May...we started mid-August though.

[ Kara ] says:
on June 18, 2008 1:50 PM

Today was my last day. Of course, I had my two worst finals (French & Chem - shoot me, please!) but I am so excited to be on vacation!

I would definitely be at the beach right now if this game wasn't on.

[ njdevils ] says:
on June 18, 2008 1:51 PM

TG and Liza: Turn to page 21 of this week's Sports Illustrated; it's insanely awesome...

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 18, 2008 1:56 PM

Meghan, are you in the South by any chance? When I moved down here (NC) it took me so long to get used to the August to May calendar.

What was the injury delay about?

[ Karen ] says:
on June 18, 2008 2:00 PM

Pedroia's foot. Good though.

[ Liza ] says:
on June 18, 2008 2:01 PM

My last day is Friday. I had bio and math finals today (both were way easy), but I have history tomorrow (goes from 1500 to 2008--good times).

Moss's on deck, in Coco's spot. That does not bode well.

Ecl, Pedroia fouled a ball off his leg. He's okay, though.

Page 21? I'll go look...

[ Meghan ] says:
on June 18, 2008 2:02 PM

ecl- I went to high school and college in Tampa, so yep, the South:-)

[ Karen ] says:
on June 18, 2008 2:02 PM

I just got the game on when it happened. I slept through an hr of my alarm going off. Just got up. Was up too early this morning, it was nap time.

[ Meghan ] says:
on June 18, 2008 2:04 PM

Here we go Mossy. I hope Coco's alright.

[ Liza ] says:
on June 18, 2008 2:05 PM

NESN was just saying Coco was examining his hand as he walked off the field. Yikes.

Yay Sunbeam!

[ Liza ] says:
on June 18, 2008 2:08 PM

Justin, if there was ever a time...

[ Meghan ] says:
on June 18, 2008 2:08 PM

DON'T SWING JUSTIN.

[ jules ] says:
on June 18, 2008 2:08 PM

Hi Y'all!

I don't like day games! I'm wicked busy at work (why couldn't I have worked from home today?!?!?!?!?).

Love the score, tho!

(whew, THAT was close...new boss dude just came to my office. Thank God in heaven for cmd M to minimize the screen ;-)

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 18, 2008 2:08 PM

That's what I thought, Meghan!

Karen, I slept through a 1/2 hour of alarm the other morning. Amazing and scary to sleep that hard.

Nice going, Mossy...and I hope Coco is okay...

[ Liza ] says:
on June 18, 2008 2:09 PM

Oh well. Yay runs. :)

[ Karen ] says:
on June 18, 2008 2:09 PM

Oh man, bases loaded, masterson up. They zoomed in on Tek's face, priceless. Probably thinking oh shit.

[ njdevils ] says:
on June 18, 2008 2:15 PM

Liza, when I say this week's SI, I mean literally the one that just came today (with Tiger Woods on the cover), so I'm not sure if you got it yet. You'll know what I'm talking about when you see it, though! =D

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on June 18, 2008 2:16 PM

Mine didn't come in the mail today, so I shall have to wait.

It's funny listening to Remy & Don bitch about getting lost... because the Philly park is BY FAR the easiest ballpark to get to and get back from of any park I've ever visited. It literally sits RIGHT on the freeway.

[ Bethie ] says:
on June 18, 2008 2:19 PM

Hey all! Checking in for a moment from work!

Nice to see a 6 to 1 lead and their starter out in the 3rd. HA!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 18, 2008 2:22 PM

Hey all, speaking of Tiger Woods (re being the SI cover), per CNN he's out for the rest of the season due to injury.

[ Karen ] says:
on June 18, 2008 2:22 PM

I have only been to Philly twice, and know where the ballpark is. How could you get lost? Unless you are in the wrong state?

[ Liza ] says:
on June 18, 2008 2:22 PM

Okay. I might not have got it if TG didn't, but I'll go check. Next commercial.

And yeah--my parents lived in Philly for a bunch of years, and my mom was just telling me that it's really, really hard to get lost there. Haha.

[ Liza ] says:
on June 18, 2008 2:24 PM

I really, really, really want JD to get a triple later.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 18, 2008 2:24 PM

Gameday is saying that it was indeed Coco's hand/wrist that took him out of the game.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 18, 2008 2:25 PM

Wouldn't that be GREAT, Liza? :-D

[ njdevils ] says:
on June 18, 2008 2:27 PM

If you don't want to wait, I scanned it, so you can get a sneak-peek here. It's not very clear, but if you click it again it gets clear when you zoom in (I'm not sure if that makes sense, but you'll see what I mean).

Or, you can just wait and be surprised later...

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 18, 2008 2:28 PM

Yay for more runs. Back to work here...will check in after awhile.

[ Karen ] says:
on June 18, 2008 2:29 PM

Like the picture. I didn't realize how hot he is.

[ Liza ] says:
on June 18, 2008 2:39 PM

Ooh yay! Thanks for the heads-up, NJ.

It is a good picture. Definitely.

[ Karen ] says:
on June 18, 2008 2:41 PM

Oh goody. Tornado warning time again. At least I can watch the warnings on tv, while online.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 18, 2008 2:42 PM

Yikes, Karen -- stay safe!

[ Karen ] says:
on June 18, 2008 2:52 PM

Thanks. This game is getting scary, they need to pull Masterson.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on June 18, 2008 2:56 PM

Hilarious, devils! I love it.

(and the part that SI didn't print about his name- his parents wanted to name him after Houston... but didn't want him to have "OU" in his name)

[ Liza ] says:
on June 18, 2008 2:59 PM

I took a picture of Houston Street in Manhattan because I couldn't resist on account of him.

So that's not a triple... but 4-for-4? And it's the sixth inning? Dayum.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 18, 2008 3:17 PM

The street in Manhattan is actually pronounced HOW-ston, so it's funny to me that his parents didn't name him Houston because of that street.

[ Meghan ] says:
on June 18, 2008 3:19 PM

SoHo means "south of Houston" right? Or is it a differnent street?

[ Liza ] says:
on June 18, 2008 3:20 PM

The picture I took was actually at the corner of Avenue B and Houston Street... because I'm obsessed with Rent and baseball. Hee.

Aww, Lopez batting!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 18, 2008 3:23 PM

Meghan, that's correct, south of Houston.

[ Karen ] says:
on June 18, 2008 3:38 PM

Does anyone know, what is the Phillies mascot? What is it supposed to be?

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 18, 2008 3:47 PM

:::::crickets:::::

[ Bethie ] says:
on June 18, 2008 3:49 PM

Is the score still 7-4?

[ Karen ] says:
on June 18, 2008 3:49 PM

Odd looking.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 18, 2008 3:55 PM

Bethie, yep, 7-4.

[ Karen ] says:
on June 18, 2008 3:59 PM

Pappy warming up.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on June 18, 2008 4:06 PM

Brad Lidge? Hot.

He also about wet his pants with delight when I said hello to him during spring training. I think partly because he was surprised anyone knew who he was by sight (had a warmup over his jersey), and also because he was afraid Phils fans were going to throw batteries at him.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on June 18, 2008 4:18 PM

Sox win!
Take the series!

And now... the off day.

[ Liza ] says:
on June 18, 2008 4:21 PM

Aww. That's a sweet story, TG. I wanted to ask Ruddy Lugo to say hi to his brother when I saw him in spring training, but I thought that'd be a little awkward.

Game!

At least there's college baseball. I don't know what I'd do for the next, oh, 26 hours without it.

[ Karen ] says:
on June 18, 2008 4:21 PM

Yeah. Pappy two days in a row. Good for me. No game tomorrow, I won't know what to do.

[ Liza ] says:
on June 18, 2008 4:22 PM

By the way, TG, is there a specific reason this page is "ga.html"?
