Hey, all--can't stick around for the whole game because we're going to my next door neighbor's birthday BBQ, but hopefully Commander Kickass will be in full command of the Fuck Yeah Brigade today.
I wish MLB let us choose, cause I would choose NESN. But right now I will not complain, keep my mouth shut, and be grateful I can watch Beckett kick ass. :)
Yeah, nothing like watching Josh at bat, so good. I will be at the game in Tampa tomorrow nite. Driving the 4hrs over to see it, and then 4 back after, love my sox.
Trish-During that vacation I wanted to use my dad's lap top to check my e-mail when we went into the town near the campground. (there was a nice cafe with wireless internet)
During the year-and-change when I was without a home computer, I spent many evenings sitting in my cubicle until 8:00 or even 9:00, trying to do my Internet thing, albeit a bit curtailed due to the usual regulations from the IT department. Thankfully, The Powers That Be were understanding...and I eventually was able to gather the funds to buy this shiny new computer.
Last year I was on vacation for a week and actually got on the hotel computers a couple of times to check my e-mail. I just couldn't do without for that long, although I didn't get on any of my other essential sites due to time constraints.
Wherever I go, the laptop goes. I have an awesome backpack that can hold the laptop and enough supplies for a weekend trip that fits perfectly under the seat on planes.
ecl-I couldn't because while it was my Dad's vacation he brought his lap top for work and work only. My mom didn't even check her e-mail during the trip.
Aaaahh, Erin, that sucks. Ridiculous that someone would go on vacation and bring their work with them...and refuse to play on the equipment. Some folks are just no fun...reminds me of my brother in law, who has a work laptop. We were all together for the holidays and he allowed me to use his laptop for a moment because I wanted to show my mom something. He *sternly* cautioned me that it's a WORK laptop...uh, Jason? I'm showing her a professional picture of one of my high school classmates who I haven't seen in 30 years. Really work-unfriendly stuff there, yah!
Definitely, Karen -- not only are they famous, most of them are distinctive looking. I mean, Manny, Papi, Jacoby, Pedey, to name a few, really stand out in a crowd.
Although I will say this, I'm in touch with an old college classmate, who lives in MA and pulls for the Sox. She and her DH were in Baltimore a couple of years ago and caught a couple of BAL-SOX games. While there, they walked right by Manny on the street and she didn't recognize him until her hubby pointed him out. Much to my surprise when she told me that.
I'm just wondering how many pitches, cause I'm curious how many innings he might pitch today. Going to the bullpen is gonna make me nervous, cause we've used them up the last couple of days. We've got 3 that are on rest. But...eek. At least Paps is feeling better and can pitch today
I was never a fan of the Texan look, but something about Beckett just drives me nuts. The real Texan isn't bad, the redneck look in Florida, annoys me.
Karen, I grew up in the Northeast and was never exposed to true rednecks until I moved to NC. I really can't deal with them. They make my blood pressure go up. Maybe that's why I'm not so much a fan of the "look" of the Southern-born ballplayers, Texan or Deep South or otherwise.
I had no opinion re TB either way until this year...now I actually dislike them, which is interesting considering that I don't even actively "dislike" my former team of choice (I find them boring more than anything else). So you know a team is being *ugly* when their actions and attitude cause me to get pissed off at them.
Tampa Bay has turned into a good ball club, though. They've got pretty solid pitching and good offense, and Evan Longoria (heh). So, if we can manage to stay ahead of them and beat them come September, we've done something.
(Okay, I can't believe I just typed that, but it's true)
Yeah, I *know* they're good...they've acquired more than a little bit of attitude, though. Good ball clubs are fine with me, but the attitude pisses me off.
Yes, the attitude can be a problem. And they have a good deal of it, but with the turn around they have made, they kinda earned some of it. They've got a little bit of bragging right. But just a little bit. (and no, I'm NOT a rays fan, just making observations)
But I'm a Beckett girl, so I can't get that upset with attitude. LOL If I did, well....I'd have to find a new pitcher to follow.
Oh I imagine he's probably at about Mach 10 right now. So it's okay if they bring him back out. Just make it a quick 1-2-3 and all will be good, Becketty-boo.
Poor Beckett. I feel for him. I will be there live tomorrow nite in Tampa. Masterson vs. Shields. I will be above the bullpen. Should be fun, so looking forward to it, worth the 4hr drive.
Yeah, Bethie, it was kind of a downer this afternoon. I almost wish I had opted to watch the Mets/NYY game on TV...the Mets won, which would've been nice to see.
Yeah, I'm never alone, surrounded by Sox fans. Last time I sat next to red sox and rays fans, both very nice. It was a 12 inning game last time. Hope it's not that long again, long drive home.
Dang...4 hour drive, now that's dedication. And here I thought I did so well by driving 1-1/2 hours each way on a work night to attend a concert awhile back!
