Hey all...had to watch the whole first inning before checking in (yes, jules, I have it on FOX). Ugh, what a mess. They're really good -- I just hate that it's at our expense. And Manny was robbed. That was some catch by Schumaker.
Storm mode again. Oh well, as long as I can watch the tv I am good, if not there is online. I can't believe the Sox are on tv today, tomorrow, Monday and Wednesday. When you live out of state, you never get to see them that much in one week.
Lohse close up, not bad looking.
P.S. Jules, I just looked on line at some of the Cali temps over the last couple of days. Holy moly...I feel for the folks in the desert sections of the state. I know it's dry heat, but stilll...I can't imagine temps in the 110s.
so I show up in the 2nd and I'm completely confused - both by the score and the pitcher.
how did Dice-K sh-t the bed so fast exactly?
this is pretty embarrassing.
I have been to the Trop many times. I am hoping to go this time. Loud. It's indoors, so everything echoes. And when I was there last, they gave the Rays fans cowbells. Not good. Cowbells, indoors.
Since I live in Orlando, I have been to the Trop! Not really a baseball atmosphere but when the Sox come it is 2/3 Sox 1/3 Rays fans! The Rays fans are really obnoxious this year though!
That Piniella commercial always cracks me up. And the All-Star Game commercial just made me cry. Wondering if Big Albert will be off the DL by then. I can live without his heroics versus *us* but would love to see him in the ASG.
Yeah, I don't wish to relive the cowbells. I just hope to get there early enough this time. I didn't last time, and I was in a lot by the marina. Nice hike.
I sat in up above the bullpen last time. I did enjoy being behind my favorite, Papelbon. Also that was when Tek was sick, so he was in front of me too. I haven't got tickets yet, hoping to go though. It's just hard to justify spending the money, when i have been out of work so long.
That DL list they just showed for the Cardinals...I can't imagine how they can even THINK that Encarnacion will ever be able to play again. Did anyone else here see that injury last season? Totally gruesome...shattered his eye socket while he was in the on-deck circle. I don't think he has any meaningful vision in that eye at this point. It's really sad.
Yeah the job situation is bad in a lot of the country, but Florida seems to be worse, because it is a snowbird state, and they are gone now. I had a positive interview last week, so I am praying and hoping.
Danielle, it was one of the most upsetting things I've ever seen during a game. It happened on a line drive foul backwards by the batter. It's amazing it didn't obliterate the eye itself.
Karen, good luck with the job situation. My cousin in NY went through the same thing...and just had a couple of interviews and landed a great job! So hopefully it's a trend!
I wish the fox people would stop showing Boston scenery. It makes me homesick.
For those of you who might not know, my ultimate favorite is Papelbon, but my other 2 favs are Tek and Beckett.
Speaking of sports crushes, I was having a crappy afternoon at work yesterday and to help cheer me up, my husband sent me a picture of Howie Long. That made me laugh--wasn't expecting that!
Jules, wow, nice looking! I'm not a football person so only knew the name until a Google search a moment ago. And your husband is very understanding, I must add. Now I'm thinking you may be in my general age bracket (Howie Long and I are contemporaries).
I've adored Howie for ages. You know it's bad when your toddler daughter would yell, "MOM! Howie's on TV!" I toned it down after my DH and I got married, tho ;-). He did surprise me by sending me the photo and it totally made me laugh, which was a good thing seeing how I wanted to scream at the moment.
ecl, I'm turning 40 soon--it's weird to see that in type ;-)
Ian, I would love that. :-) I think you know who my favorites are.
Jules, I think I've known of a few friends' DHs who are understanding like that. If I had one he would have to be mighty understanding, that's for sure.
And don't feel too old...I'm a full 10 years ahead of you. Will be 50 in 3 months and 2 days. Ugh.
orlando, interestingly, his listed height/weight are exactly the same as Manny. Now don't get me wrong, Manny's a substantial dude, but he doesn't look chubby to me -- I guess it's muscle, plus the oversized uni. Cash I haven't watched enough to see whether he's "chubby" or not. Maybe he just has a chubby face?
Pretty cool looking, to see the pedestrians on the bridge right next to the cars. The only ones around here are one lane for pedestrians, well caged off from the cars.
I hope they both come back. A captain is still a captain no matter if aging. As for Manny, he's in such good shape for an older player that it would be foolish to let him go, not to mention there would be mass mutiny throughout Red Sox Nation. I hope he gets to play as many more years as he chooses and retires as a Red Sox.

Well, that certainly didn't start off the way we planned it to...
