I have the Rays vs Marlins game on while I'm waiting. I have been so busy, the rain delay is fine for me. Back to Mlb.tv tonight. For those of you who know, I have been laid off for 6 months now, I got a job today, start tomorrow. I am so happy I can barely sit still.
Oh, congrats, Karen! What field do you work in? (You may have said before, but I don't remember...)
This is the second or third time now they've shown the "Top 9" Don and Remy moments today. I'm not joking. We had better get some Milli Vanilli to make up for this.
It blows to be in Los Angeles, where all I can do is look at the "rain delay" graphics on mlb.tv.... I wish I could trade weather patterns with Boston right now.
MLB.TV was supposed to be showing the Remy Day festivities... but I guess the rain delay screwed them up. Someone's not paying attention at the control panel.
That was kind of awkward. Coming right back from the Francona-Remy lovefest to the middle of Masterson's pitch.
Not as awkward as the folks who are on HD had last night - when they were talking about Youk's eye as he was being examined by trainers, and then randomly played 3 or 4 commercials. When the HD feed got back from commercial, Youk was gone, Moss was in, and they were 3 pitches into the next batter.
I'll miss this blog when I start work, mostly evenings. I will be working in fine jewelry for JcPenney. I'm not complaining, good benefits, money. (good for Florida)
Dan - Sure hope so. He's been pretty danged fantastic so far. And Doug Davis has been fairly sharp for the Dbacks this year- his PECOTA was 5.02 ERA/1.53 WHIP and he has 3.65/1.60.
Masterson is more like a giraffe, with those long legs and big ol' eyes and goofy gait.
I said Casey was a bear - but that's inaccurate. He may run like a bear, but he's ALL Golden Retriever. "hey guys! hey guys! what's going on? what'cha doin? wanna play? huh? huh? huh?"
I must raise an objection that the Dbacks players were out tarp sliding during the rain delay, but the Sox players were all boring and rule-followerish and did not.
Also: Tek does not waste ANY time getting back to the dugout, huh?
You just know Pap went and asked Papi for permission to tarp-slide and Papi consulted Manny who went, "Nahh mang, I'm meditating. You should try it some time." And then Pap meditated. With his Wii.
TG, Lugo is perfect as a meerkat because Pumbaa and Timon are opposites, just like Youk's almost-errorless fielding compared to Lugo's error-filled fielding.
I randomly ended up sitting next to his wife on my flight to Denver for the World Series last year - he was umping those games as well- and just kept in touch with them. He's a pretty cool dude, and that was his first time doing the WS.
BTW, the idiots at Fenway were in fine form last night when Youk was taken out.
"Where ya goin? You only need one eye."
"Whatsamattah, stub your toe too?"
etc.
I would rag him for his 8,000 different TV shows - but considering Schilling, I really can't. Also because I would kill if one of our guys would do his own weekly show.
I do, however, despise that stupid pornstache he sometimes sports.
Well, me neither, fc...but folks are talking about all these interviews and making references to stuff that I have no clue about. And here I sit w/WRKO...which is fine but I'd like to be in on the party, ya know?
Aha...gotcha. Now I don't feel nearly so deprived. Sounds like when FOX, ESPN and etc. cut away to broadcast drivel just as someone I like steps to the plate!
Hey guys, been watching the game and I have to say that I can't remember the last time I've been this bored. The constant non-baseball talking is almost as bad as listening to McCarver.
I think I'm gonna go online shopping - that always cheers me up.
Ian, is Dave O'Brien good, I hope? And I didn't know that Joe C is on WEEI as well...I thought he was just the WRKO guy. Then again, I don't know much. I'm still sort of a newbie around here.
ok, i know i'm late to the party, but i did enjoy it in the rene russo interview where there was random cheering and she called attention to it ... and it was just jacoby coming to bat.
ecl, the wednesday night games are actually broadcast on WEEI, it's a sister station of WRKO. I like dave o'brien. he's the other guy you normally hear with Joe C.
So when I access the Gameday broadcast on Wednesdays and click on WRKO, I'm actually getting WEEI?
If he's normally with Joe C, I should like O'Brien just fine. This is a nice comfortable classic kind of baseball broadcast. Reminds me of the ones I listened to while growing up.
Okay...the only thing about thie WRKO broadcast is that they're perseverating on Doug Davis being a cancer survivor. They can't stop talking about it. Sort of like everyone did w/Lester. And like people do about Dustin being "diminutive." We get it, guys, c'mon!
i do a lot of listening to sox baseball at work, and i LOVE dave o'brien. (awesome work trick: put game on radio in receiving, go to cash room, call receiving room on speakerphone and listen to radio through open internal speakerphone channel. hee.)
Ah, Lifelong...those old broadcasts were the soundtrack to my adolescence. All those lazy summer afternoons helping my parents in the vegetable and flower gardens, with a transistor radio looped to my hip, listening to either the Mets or the Yankees. The sound was so relaxing and so addictive....and it still affects me the same way 35 years later. (sighing with nostalgia)
The Clash had a hand in this. I muted the TV and turned on music to distract - and I swear, the moment I pushed play on "Should I Stay Or Should I Go", we got our first guy on base. I hit repeat at the time Pedey went up to the plate. I let it move on to the next track for JD... and then when I replayed the Clash in th middle of Myglowal's at-bat- kaboom.
This song stays on repeat for the rest of the game.
I won't be around tomorrow nite, taping the game on tv. I will be at training. I was just enjoying the picture of Paps at McGreevy's. It is on boston.com
