rain rain go away!

[ fc ] says:
on June 24, 2008 7:01 PM

Happy Remy Day

[ Karen ] says:
on June 24, 2008 7:11 PM

I have the Rays vs Marlins game on while I'm waiting. I have been so busy, the rain delay is fine for me. Back to Mlb.tv tonight. For those of you who know, I have been laid off for 6 months now, I got a job today, start tomorrow. I am so happy I can barely sit still.

[ Danielle ] says:
on June 24, 2008 7:14 PM

Hey everyone!

That's awesome Karen! Good luck on your first day!

[ Liza ] says:
on June 24, 2008 7:14 PM

Oh, congrats, Karen! What field do you work in? (You may have said before, but I don't remember...)

This is the second or third time now they've shown the "Top 9" Don and Remy moments today. I'm not joking. We had better get some Milli Vanilli to make up for this.

[ fc ] says:
on June 24, 2008 7:20 PM

The hell with Milli Vanilli - Tek with hand on heart will do just fine for me.

[ njdevils ] says:
on June 24, 2008 7:24 PM

Hey, everyone! I'm late because I was taking care of my neighbor's dog.

Another rain delay? I guess I didn't miss much!

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on June 24, 2008 7:24 PM

I don't believe it - it's Jim Rice!

[ fc ] says:
on June 24, 2008 7:28 PM

:)

I forgot we were playing "I don't believe it - it's Jim Rice!"

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on June 24, 2008 7:28 PM

I feel compelled to say that every time I see Jim.

[ Ashley ] says:
on June 24, 2008 7:33 PM

It blows to be in Los Angeles, where all I can do is look at the "rain delay" graphics on mlb.tv.... I wish I could trade weather patterns with Boston right now.

[ Karen ] says:
on June 24, 2008 7:34 PM

Tek, with a goatee and no beard, makes me very happy. So much hotter.

[ fc ] says:
on June 24, 2008 7:34 PM

Holy crap, dude's getting a car!

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on June 24, 2008 7:36 PM

MLB.TV was supposed to be showing the Remy Day festivities... but I guess the rain delay screwed them up. Someone's not paying attention at the control panel.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on June 24, 2008 7:36 PM

Dominic is a smart kid. Nice jersey.

[ fc ] says:
on June 24, 2008 7:37 PM

Remy is secretly thinking "Get out of the picture Heidi."

[ Erin ] says:
on June 24, 2008 7:38 PM

Is it wrong that I was really happy to see Eric Frede?

[ fc ] says:
on June 24, 2008 7:38 PM

Tex, I think that's a smartass kid.
Or maybe both.

[ Ian ] says:
on June 24, 2008 7:38 PM

I thought it was only the people who got the Extra Innings package got the pregame stuff.

BTW, Jerry's daughter Jenna is babealicious

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on June 24, 2008 7:40 PM

BTW, David Pinto emailed me to say that his source on that Heidi stuff is "very reliable". So there's that.

[ Dan ] says:
on June 24, 2008 7:42 PM

I have a feeling this is Masterson's night.

[ fc ] says:
on June 24, 2008 7:42 PM

That's a whole lotta short pants and high socks in that picture.

[ Karen ] says:
on June 24, 2008 7:42 PM

Thank God. Game time.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on June 24, 2008 7:43 PM

That was kind of awkward. Coming right back from the Francona-Remy lovefest to the middle of Masterson's pitch.

Not as awkward as the folks who are on HD had last night - when they were talking about Youk's eye as he was being examined by trainers, and then randomly played 3 or 4 commercials. When the HD feed got back from commercial, Youk was gone, Moss was in, and they were 3 pitches into the next batter.

[ Dan ] says:
on June 24, 2008 7:43 PM

I hope to hear some classic Remdawg tonight.

[ Dan ] says:
on June 24, 2008 7:45 PM

Man this weather has been crazy the past couple days.

[ Ian ] says:
on June 24, 2008 7:45 PM

You Texy, after thinking about that when I posted the video, I remember going i don't remember seeing that on the HD feed.

I definitely believe Pinto although he did get duped on the ball girl commercial at first.

[ fc ] says:
on June 24, 2008 7:45 PM

Funny that he said "end of the world." I was thinking it was "apocalyptic" thunder.

[ Ian ] says:
on June 24, 2008 7:46 PM

Ooooooooops..... That should read you know texy

got all excited with Masterson's 1st inning.

[ Karen ] says:
on June 24, 2008 7:47 PM

I'll miss this blog when I start work, mostly evenings. I will be working in fine jewelry for JcPenney. I'm not complaining, good benefits, money. (good for Florida)

[ fc ] says:
on June 24, 2008 7:48 PM

So picking up a theme from last night, what kind of animal is Masterson? A colt?

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on June 24, 2008 7:49 PM

Dan - Sure hope so. He's been pretty danged fantastic so far. And Doug Davis has been fairly sharp for the Dbacks this year- his PECOTA was 5.02 ERA/1.53 WHIP and he has 3.65/1.60.

[ Liza ] says:
on June 24, 2008 7:50 PM

If Masterson's a colt, he's a big, bulky colt. A Clydesdale, maybe.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on June 24, 2008 7:51 PM

PLEATS! He's like a terrier dog, I think.

[ Ian ] says:
on June 24, 2008 7:51 PM

pleats power

[ Liza ] says:
on June 24, 2008 7:51 PM

Pleats!

[ Dan ] says:
on June 24, 2008 7:51 PM

Check out mighty mouse, Pedroia. Awesome

[ fc ] says:
on June 24, 2008 7:51 PM

Whoa! Maybe he was happy to see Jim Rice too!

[ njdevils ] says:
on June 24, 2008 7:51 PM

Dustin!

[ Karen ] says:
on June 24, 2008 7:52 PM

Yeah. Go Pedy.

[ Dan ] says:
on June 24, 2008 7:52 PM

back to back maybe?

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on June 24, 2008 7:52 PM

Masterson is more like a giraffe, with those long legs and big ol' eyes and goofy gait.

I said Casey was a bear - but that's inaccurate. He may run like a bear, but he's ALL Golden Retriever. "hey guys! hey guys! what's going on? what'cha doin? wanna play? huh? huh? huh?"

[ njdevils ] says:
on June 24, 2008 7:53 PM

Apparently I missed something while I wasn't here yesterday...What's with all of the animal comparisons?

[ Dan ] says:
on June 24, 2008 7:53 PM

if anyone else has seen.....our poor boy Bronson is getting ROUGHED up by the Jays.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on June 24, 2008 7:54 PM

I called David Aardsma a hammerhead shark.

[ fc ] says:
on June 24, 2008 7:54 PM

This is going well.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on June 24, 2008 7:54 PM

Maybe Bronson will write a song about it.

I also find it HI-larious comedy indeed that the Jays have to play the Reds -- after what Ricciardi said about Adam Dunn.

[ fc ] says:
on June 24, 2008 7:54 PM

Yes, and AHEM, someone was a warthog.
C'mon, gimme a buffalo, at least.

[ Dan ] says:
on June 24, 2008 7:55 PM

wow, you see that splash? where's the drain system?

[ Liza ] says:
on June 24, 2008 7:55 PM

That's a lot of water out in center field. Wow.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on June 24, 2008 7:55 PM

Love when the field it so wet, it's splashing water. That should make for some interesting ground ball fielding.

[ Ian ] says:
on June 24, 2008 7:55 PM

I want to see a diving catch through that puddle.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on June 24, 2008 7:56 PM

Youkilis is SO a warthog. Warthogs can be cool - remember Pumbaa?

[ fc ] says:
on June 24, 2008 7:56 PM

So nice to see Tek with his goatee - I think someone already said that.

[ Dan ] says:
on June 24, 2008 7:56 PM

You know a drunk fan is going to run out and dive into that puddle.

[ Ian ] says:
on June 24, 2008 7:57 PM

micah owings and chad qualls did a tarp slide before the game today

[ Dan ] says:
on June 24, 2008 7:58 PM

If Youkilis is a warthog, which Sox player is Timon, the meerkat?

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on June 24, 2008 7:58 PM

I must raise an objection that the Dbacks players were out tarp sliding during the rain delay, but the Sox players were all boring and rule-followerish and did not.

Also: Tek does not waste ANY time getting back to the dugout, huh?

[ Rachel O ] says:
on June 24, 2008 7:58 PM

our pregame show had two of our pitchers playing slip 'n slide on the tarp earlier haha
kinda hopin its a slugfest after last night

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on June 24, 2008 7:59 PM

Julio Lugo could definitely be a meerkat. A meerkat who sucks at fielding.

[ fc ] says:
on June 24, 2008 7:59 PM

"Warthogs can be cool"

I would venture to guess that this phrase has never been uttered on any other baseball blog.

[ fc ] says:
on June 24, 2008 8:00 PM

A frightened meerkat. Or a meerkat with reason to be frightened.

[ Rachel O ] says:
on June 24, 2008 8:00 PM

ah Ian ya beat me! yea we're not really used to that kinda weather ; )

[ fc ] says:
on June 24, 2008 8:00 PM

Timlin is clearly an elk.

Mikey? A fox.

[ Dan ] says:
on June 24, 2008 8:00 PM

YES! Lugo is the meerkat.

[ Rachel O ] says:
on June 24, 2008 8:01 PM

and i'm thinkin at least one of our lefties is gonna get nailed in the shins today

[ Dan ] says:
on June 24, 2008 8:02 PM

This guy needs to speak up.

[ Liza ] says:
on June 24, 2008 8:02 PM

You just know Pap went and asked Papi for permission to tarp-slide and Papi consulted Manny who went, "Nahh mang, I'm meditating. You should try it some time." And then Pap meditated. With his Wii.

/random

Way to show the game, NESN.

[ njdevils ] says:
on June 24, 2008 8:03 PM

TG, Lugo is perfect as a meerkat because Pumbaa and Timon are opposites, just like Youk's almost-errorless fielding compared to Lugo's error-filled fielding.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 24, 2008 8:03 PM

I nominate Lugo to be a Jack Russell terrier. Little and hyper.

By the way, hi everyone, and congrats, Karen. My mom used to have the exact same position for Belk!

(gotta get the laundry put up and the tacos made...will be checking in shortly)

[ Dan ] says:
on June 24, 2008 8:03 PM

Bronson's final line: 1ip 11h 10er, 3hr

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 24, 2008 8:04 PM

LOL -- just Googled meerkat and you're right. Little and skinny with big eyes! Hahahaaa....

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on June 24, 2008 8:04 PM

Wow, that was just fascinating. /sarcasm

[ Liza ] says:
on June 24, 2008 8:04 PM

Poor Bronson. Yeesh. Daisuke knows how that feels.

There is no way he fouled that...

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on June 24, 2008 8:05 PM

(referring to the in-booth commentary, of course)

[ fc ] says:
on June 24, 2008 8:05 PM

That looked like a whiff to me.

[ Ian ] says:
on June 24, 2008 8:06 PM

That's why Youk is so fiery, he's channeling his inner RemDawg

[ fc ] says:
on June 24, 2008 8:06 PM

And it cost a run. At least.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on June 24, 2008 8:06 PM

Aw, hell. Dude with two first names gets an RBI.

[ Dan ] says:
on June 24, 2008 8:06 PM

TG,

That interview in the booth was horrible, lol.

[ Liza ] says:
on June 24, 2008 8:07 PM

Anyone catch the name of tonight's home plate ump?

[ Liza ] says:
on June 24, 2008 8:08 PM

And wait, how'd Jackson get on?

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on June 24, 2008 8:09 PM

It's Mike Everitt. I know him!

[ Ian ] says:
on June 24, 2008 8:09 PM

Home Plate - Mike Everitt, First Base - Mike Dimuro, Second Base - Larry Vanover, Third Base - Tim Mcclelland

[ Dan ] says:
on June 24, 2008 8:10 PM

Did he reach over?

[ fc ] says:
on June 24, 2008 8:10 PM

JD is a stud!

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on June 24, 2008 8:10 PM

DREW can DO it all.

[ Liza ] says:
on June 24, 2008 8:10 PM

JD! Heartheartheart.

How do you know him, TG?

[ Ian ] says:
on June 24, 2008 8:11 PM

No Dan it was just short of the wall

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on June 24, 2008 8:12 PM

I randomly ended up sitting next to his wife on my flight to Denver for the World Series last year - he was umping those games as well- and just kept in touch with them. He's a pretty cool dude, and that was his first time doing the WS.

[ Ian ] says:
on June 24, 2008 8:13 PM

well you need to tell mike to pull the trigger because it looked like a strike

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on June 24, 2008 8:13 PM

Coolest ump name ever was that dude from the other day- "Fieldin" was his first name.

[ Dan ] says:
on June 24, 2008 8:14 PM

lol, Fieldin Culbreth

[ Liza ] says:
on June 24, 2008 8:15 PM

That's awesome! And that's a pretty friggin awesome name. Right up there with Homer and Balfour and Walker.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on June 24, 2008 8:17 PM

Youkilis will play with Gagne goggles from now on.

[ Dan ] says:
on June 24, 2008 8:17 PM

I still can't believe how big and how fast that thing swelled up.

[ fc ] says:
on June 24, 2008 8:17 PM

Don't want to mess with his superhuman eyesight.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 24, 2008 8:17 PM

LOL, Gagne goggles...

Yeah, Coco!

[ Dan ] says:
on June 24, 2008 8:18 PM

Guess who's up....the Meerkat!

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on June 24, 2008 8:18 PM

Dan Haren's head is abnormally large.

[ fc ] says:
on June 24, 2008 8:18 PM

BTW, the idiots at Fenway were in fine form last night when Youk was taken out.
"Where ya goin? You only need one eye."
"Whatsamattah, stub your toe too?"
etc.

[ Dan ] says:
on June 24, 2008 8:19 PM

Who else cannot stand Eric Byrnes?

[ Liza ] says:
on June 24, 2008 8:20 PM

Dan, to tell the truth, I don't know that much about him. What's there not to stand?

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on June 24, 2008 8:20 PM

I would rag him for his 8,000 different TV shows - but considering Schilling, I really can't. Also because I would kill if one of our guys would do his own weekly show.

I do, however, despise that stupid pornstache he sometimes sports.

[ Dan ] says:
on June 24, 2008 8:22 PM

Ever since 'Tek blocked the plate and Brynes came up limping and pushed 'Tek after the play I just never liked him.

[ Dan ] says:
on June 24, 2008 8:25 PM

I need a Remy mask.

[ Liza ] says:
on June 24, 2008 8:26 PM

Those masks are fantastic. Although seeing an entire Remified Fenway is kind of like being in some sort of freak nightmare.

[ Dan ] says:
on June 24, 2008 8:32 PM

OUCH

[ Liza ] says:
on June 24, 2008 8:32 PM

Aww shit.

[ fc ] says:
on June 24, 2008 8:32 PM

Oh CRAP

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on June 24, 2008 8:32 PM

Dude with two first names! AGAIN. CRAP.

[ Ian ] says:
on June 24, 2008 8:32 PM

i thought arizona's offense was slumping coming into this series.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 24, 2008 8:33 PM

GRRRR...I heard that call from the other room. At least it's early in the game.

[ EricaC ] says:
on June 24, 2008 8:33 PM

Hey everyone!
Hopefully Boston's bats wake up now....

[ Liza ] says:
on June 24, 2008 8:34 PM

9 balls, 9 strikes in that inning. Do not want.

[ Dan ] says:
on June 24, 2008 8:35 PM

Oh god, get ready to check your ears, Menino

[ njdevils ] says:
on June 24, 2008 8:36 PM

According to Chad's Wikipedia page, his wife, Katie Martin, has two first names, too.

[ Karen ] says:
on June 24, 2008 8:36 PM

Oh man.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on June 24, 2008 8:38 PM

Don wants SO BAD to be able to read that thing.

[ Dan ] says:
on June 24, 2008 8:39 PM

TG,

LOL you're absolutely right.

[ Ian ] says:
on June 24, 2008 8:40 PM

that reminded me of manny reading over schilling's shoulder

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on June 24, 2008 8:45 PM

Next in the booth: the beer vendor from behind Section 10!

[ LifelongSoxFan ] says:
on June 24, 2008 8:46 PM

c'mon, boys....lets get this party started

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 24, 2008 8:52 PM

I sure wish I had y'all's broadcast. It sounds like fun.

[ fc ] says:
on June 24, 2008 8:54 PM

I can't speak for anyone else but I'm not having fun.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 24, 2008 8:58 PM

Well, me neither, fc...but folks are talking about all these interviews and making references to stuff that I have no clue about. And here I sit w/WRKO...which is fine but I'd like to be in on the party, ya know?

[ Dan ] says:
on June 24, 2008 8:58 PM

I think they may be overdoing it.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on June 24, 2008 8:59 PM

It's not fun. Trust me. It's BORING. Really. And we're getting more shots of the guys in the booth than, you know, the BALLGAME.

[ Dan ] says:
on June 24, 2008 9:01 PM

Ok that means we're going to commercial, guy.....stop talking.

[ fc ] says:
on June 24, 2008 9:01 PM

Yeah, they have completely dropped the game commentary.
Nice dp.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on June 24, 2008 9:02 PM

Boring, monotonous booth commentary + no shots of the game + shitty offense = BLAH

[ fc ] says:
on June 24, 2008 9:02 PM

But when Burleson said he's run into Jim Rice a couple of times over the years, I did wonder what he said...

[ Dan ] says:
on June 24, 2008 9:03 PM

Possible subject of a new post........this Remy Day flopped.

[ Karen ] says:
on June 24, 2008 9:03 PM

Yeah I would like some commentary. Too many interviews for one nite.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 24, 2008 9:05 PM

Aha...gotcha. Now I don't feel nearly so deprived. Sounds like when FOX, ESPN and etc. cut away to broadcast drivel just as someone I like steps to the plate!

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on June 24, 2008 9:05 PM

Oh, sweet Jesus - now we're getting PHONE CALL interviews. ARGH.

[ Dan ] says:
on June 24, 2008 9:06 PM

wtf...Renee Russo

[ Karen ] says:
on June 24, 2008 9:06 PM

I know, oh god.

[ Dan ] says:
on June 24, 2008 9:06 PM

Tried to get "backstage" at Angel Stadium......didn't know we were at a concert.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on June 24, 2008 9:07 PM

Also, NESN editing department: it's "RENE Russo". Not Renee. After the "ALPAHBET" debacle, you'd think they'd double check these things.

[ fc ] says:
on June 24, 2008 9:07 PM

Hello - BASEBALL??? PLEASE???

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on June 24, 2008 9:07 PM

Rene has a crush on Jacoby.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on June 24, 2008 9:08 PM

I think there were 3 outs that inning - but you'd never know, because we didn't hear a thing about them.

[ fc ] says:
on June 24, 2008 9:08 PM

Here, no one cares about spelling.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 24, 2008 9:09 PM

At least I'm getting commentary here...

[ Dan ] says:
on June 24, 2008 9:09 PM

Yeah, we care about the game, which is not really being analyzed.

[ fc ] says:
on June 24, 2008 9:10 PM

Maybe when Ian's governor he'll be able to get something done about this sort of thing.

[ Jessi ] says:
on June 24, 2008 9:10 PM

Hey guys, been watching the game and I have to say that I can't remember the last time I've been this bored. The constant non-baseball talking is almost as bad as listening to McCarver.

I think I'm gonna go online shopping - that always cheers me up.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 24, 2008 9:12 PM

Maybe ESPN2 will be an improvement tomorrow?

[ Erin ] says:
on June 24, 2008 9:13 PM

I'm watching something else on TV what is going on?

[ EricaC ] says:
on June 24, 2008 9:13 PM

I'm sorry, am I still watching NESN?
All of a sudden they are talking baseball... yay!

[ Jessi ] says:
on June 24, 2008 9:18 PM

Ughh not another one...

[ fc ] says:
on June 24, 2008 9:18 PM

No such luck, Erica - here's our next contestant.

[ Karen ] says:
on June 24, 2008 9:19 PM

Oh yeah, another one.

[ EricaC ] says:
on June 24, 2008 9:20 PM

Geez..... I am sorely tempted to change the channel, but I'm afraid I'll miss something big... like maybe some hits

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 24, 2008 9:20 PM

You poor folks! I'm almost tempted to transcribe the play by play from WRKO...just kidding...I can't type quite that fast.

Okay, c'mon Manuel...

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on June 24, 2008 9:20 PM

The thing is - I freakin' love Remy. But this is ridiculous. They really should have spread this out over a week or something.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 24, 2008 9:21 PM

I'm glad that Manny's BA is starting to edge back up. :-)

[ Ian ] says:
on June 24, 2008 9:21 PM

I'm watching off the DVR with the radio broadcast timed to it perfectly.

[ fc ] says:
on June 24, 2008 9:21 PM

Or saved it for the retirement party.

[ Jessi ] says:
on June 24, 2008 9:23 PM

Ok so I think I'm gonna ditch this game. All this talking + no offense is not an enjoyable combination. Bye guys!

Crossing fingers to see a Red Sox win on Baseball Tonight.

[ Ian ] says:
on June 24, 2008 9:24 PM

ecl you''ll get dave o'brien from the red sox radio booth tomorrow night on espn2.

I'll be listening to joe c. and dale arnold on weei tomorrow night since i'll be in the hometown of fc tomorrow.

[ fc ] says:
on June 24, 2008 9:26 PM

Ian, wave hello to everyone for me.

[ Karen ] says:
on June 24, 2008 9:26 PM

I'm still watching. On tv, Baltimore is beating the Cubs, and Marlins are beating the Rays.

[ Karen ] says:

Oh God, another one.

[ jenny again ] says:
on June 24, 2008 9:30 PM

hi all.

didja miss me ... ? ;D

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 24, 2008 9:30 PM

Ian, is Dave O'Brien good, I hope? And I didn't know that Joe C is on WEEI as well...I thought he was just the WRKO guy. Then again, I don't know much. I'm still sort of a newbie around here.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 24, 2008 9:30 PM

JENNY!!! Welcome back! (hugs)

[ fc ] says:
on June 24, 2008 9:31 PM

JD with another awesome catch!

[ jenny again ] says:
on June 24, 2008 9:33 PM

ok, i know i'm late to the party, but i did enjoy it in the rene russo interview where there was random cheering and she called attention to it ... and it was just jacoby coming to bat.

bwee.

[ Ian ] says:
on June 24, 2008 9:35 PM

ecl, the wednesday night games are actually broadcast on WEEI, it's a sister station of WRKO. I like dave o'brien. he's the other guy you normally hear with Joe C.

Anyone i should say hi to fc.

[ LifelongSoxFan ] says:
on June 24, 2008 9:36 PM

the most interesting thing I've heard on XM tonight is there's an all day tribute to George Carlin tomorrow on the Comedy channel 150

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 24, 2008 9:38 PM

So when I access the Gameday broadcast on Wednesdays and click on WRKO, I'm actually getting WEEI?

If he's normally with Joe C, I should like O'Brien just fine. This is a nice comfortable classic kind of baseball broadcast. Reminds me of the ones I listened to while growing up.

[ fc ] says:
on June 24, 2008 9:39 PM

Yeah, Ian, all the people who made me miserable growing up. :-/

So what's up with our team? Where's the fire?

[ LifelongSoxFan ] says:
on June 24, 2008 9:40 PM

those were the days, huh, ecl?? I hear ya...

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 24, 2008 9:40 PM

Okay...the only thing about thie WRKO broadcast is that they're perseverating on Doug Davis being a cancer survivor. They can't stop talking about it. Sort of like everyone did w/Lester. And like people do about Dustin being "diminutive." We get it, guys, c'mon!

[ jenny again ] says:
on June 24, 2008 9:42 PM

i do a lot of listening to sox baseball at work, and i LOVE dave o'brien. (awesome work trick: put game on radio in receiving, go to cash room, call receiving room on speakerphone and listen to radio through open internal speakerphone channel. hee.)

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 24, 2008 9:44 PM

Ah, Lifelong...those old broadcasts were the soundtrack to my adolescence. All those lazy summer afternoons helping my parents in the vegetable and flower gardens, with a transistor radio looped to my hip, listening to either the Mets or the Yankees. The sound was so relaxing and so addictive....and it still affects me the same way 35 years later. (sighing with nostalgia)

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 24, 2008 9:45 PM

That's right Jenny, you've got that setup down to a science!

[ LifelongSoxFan ] says:

[ Kara ] says:
on June 24, 2008 10:06 PM

[ Kara ] says:

I know the feeling ecl.... I yelled so loud I scared my bunny...lol... and to think I was going to change the channel

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on June 24, 2008 10:06 PM

The Clash had a hand in this. I muted the TV and turned on music to distract - and I swear, the moment I pushed play on "Should I Stay Or Should I Go", we got our first guy on base. I hit repeat at the time Pedey went up to the plate. I let it move on to the next track for JD... and then when I replayed the Clash in th middle of Myglowal's at-bat- kaboom.

This song stays on repeat for the rest of the game.

[ Dan ] says:
on June 24, 2008 10:06 PM

Ian,

Qualls shouldn't of been tarp sliding today.

[ jenny again ] says:
on June 24, 2008 10:07 PM

i am absolutely smitten with this half inning. GOD.

[ Ian ] says:
on June 24, 2008 10:07 PM

that's so true Kara.

that's what Qualls gets for sliding on our tarp.

[ Karen ] says:
on June 24, 2008 10:07 PM

Yeah, I think Youk wants to play. Teky doing very well, since he shaved off the beard.

[ Ian ] says:
on June 24, 2008 10:08 PM

[ fc ] says:

[ Texas Gal ] says:

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 24, 2008 10:14 PM

I'm surprised Cora hasn't come in at short. And even more surprised that Youk is able to play.

[ fc ] says:
on June 24, 2008 10:14 PM

[ Texas Gal ] says:

[ Jessi ] says:
