Hi all. I had an epic horrible day at work and need this game in the worst way. I hope it's a good one, but a little calmer than last night. Haven't even caught up on the Sox news yet as I just sat here for 1/2 hour trying to process the workday and forgot to turn on the computer.
I'll probably post about it on my LJ, Bethie...soon as I regain my wits. The weekend may be enough to recuperate and reload, but for now suffice it to say that I'm going to be taking my job one day at a time for the foreseeable future.
You know what amazed me? Some of the blogs today were bitching because our guys didn't get more involved in the fight...like they weren't protecting Coco enough so weren't loyal teammates. Personally, I thought it was GREAT to see some of our guys doing their darndest to pull Rays players away. Thoughts?
I agree! Our players were definitely playing peacemaker more than the Rays. I mean, if you go an punch someone and break your hand that isn't exactly being loyal to your team.
And really, according to people, a lot of the Rays were just scratching and pulling hair. So much for fighting.
I think our players jumped out there and did all they could do. They were doing their best to get coco out of the pile. Even Schill was out there yanking on people.
I'm still having a hard time believing they suspended Jon for 5 games. I just don't get it. Casey either. I have gone back to the video, and I didn't see him pulling any punches. Maybe because he wasn't on the "red sox" pile and he went after Shields pile of goons. Who knows.
The Sox were smart enough to know pulling them apart was better. On ESPN today, Tim K (never know how to spell his last name) talked about a coach that told his team that the brawls only lead to hurting your own team because you're the better team and you help the other team by getting your team some suspensions. I thought that was the best way to put it.
Bethie, if you watch TG's video at 3:00 minutes you see Casey throw one punch then he gets lost under the pile. He went into the Shields pile right after Hale pulled Shields down and let Shields have one punch. Navarro definately deserved some kind of punishment if Casey got slapped with one too.
Did anyone else here on WRKO Coco saying something about Schill telling him he'd lost all respect for him? I was across the house though so maybe I was hearing things.
Did Lester seem like he was throwing at anyone? I know one of the hit batters was a curveball that didn't break.
Well this just about sucked. It seems like every time the Sox get a day off (this Monday) they tend to suck in the games leading up to it. Cya guys tomorrow.

Hey Y'all!
TGIF!
I'm glad to hear that Jacoby is day-to-day. I hope he gets well soon.
