Okay, I'll start things off. Who do I contact at FOX to ask them why they are showing Cubs-Dodgers here in NC, despite what the mlb.com schedule says? Faith (AKA ecl) is not pleased.
I feel your pain, ecl - FOX's stranglehold on Saturday baseball means everyone who's not in the Boston market (or, in this case, Seattle) gets blacked out of the game - no NESN, no Extra Innings, no MLB.TV.
It is nationally televised - but FOX has multiple games they broadcast every weekend. Which one you get depends on how they draw the market lines for each game.
I need a baseball fix, so I'll have the Cubbies game on for a while. Derek Lowe is pitching for the Dodgers.
I bought the DDR game for my daughter, and she's biting at the bit to play it. Her reasoning, the Sox aren't on and the Cubs aren't in HD, so why can't she play the game? ha!
ecl, I've sent Fox Sports an email and will do it again. They need to understand that people in Northern California do *not* give a rats ass about the Dodgers. We don't care! LA is another world from Northern California. Show us the Sox!
It's a perfect day here. Sunny and breezy. I've got all the windows open. I'm trying to work, but as you can see, am not getting much done.
You should call your local FOX affiliate and ask - but there's no way for me to tell what game they'll choose to show in your market each week. Since you don't have a local team in NC, you're pretty much just going to end up getting whatever FOX and MLB guess that a baseball viewer in NC will want to see.
Weeeellll, I can only hope that FOX will draw their market lines differently next time. Maybe they gave us the Cubs game because we get the Cubs in this cable market because of WGN Superstation (which carries a ton of them).
I bet you got the Cubs game because that's the marquee game this week - since (a) the Cubs are the best team in baseball, (b) Dodgers don't suck and DLowe is pitching. Any market that doesn't have a team playing on FOX is probably going to get the Cubs game.
Ahhh (shrug)...s'okay. There will be other games on TV...ESPN and TBS. As for the FOX games, you're right, it probably depends on the marquee match-up. Hopefully the ones against NYY will be televised here. I'd also like to see the one against the Cards, but TBS is carrying part of the same series here.
I'm laughing about the Dodgers sucking. Way, way back when...my mom rooted for the Dodgers. Of course, they were still in Brooklyn at the time. She hasn't given a rat's patootie about baseball since they moved West. I guess having her team leave town ruined the whole thing for her.
ecl, my Dad would take my brother and I to see the SF Giants at The Stick (I will *never* call it anything else, sponsors be damned). We learned early who to cheer against.
Everytime I listen to a broadcast team that's NotRemy and NotOrsillo, I get sad. And then I realize that at least today, it's NotJoeMorgan and Not McCarver... and I am uproariously happy.
jules, I can't imagine calling the park in SF anything other than Candlestick. I remember the one time I was ever in that area (in my teens) we passed the park and it looked just amazing, perched there right on the water.
The HR is up on Gameday. Will watch it right now! :-)
Thank you Gameday, for allowing me to see that beautiful HR. And to see how great our guys look in their red jerseys.
I'm assuming the Gameday video is from FOX...did anyone catch Lugo looking grumpy in the dugout as he and Manny rubbed elbows? Very uncharacteristic to see them not jumping all over each other. Hmmm...
random: Moss's roster photo strikes a familiar chord with me. I finally figured it out: He reminds me of Chipper Jones when he was young. Without cap, I wouldn't know. But with the cap they have the same general look, at least to my eyes.
WICKED bummed about FOX....I'm trying to nap with the Dodgers game on mute but it's hard to do that with one eye open...just saw the score and had stop by to .....WOO-HOO!
OK, I'm outrageously bored. Not with baseball- but you know me, I need to be doing something while I watch. Want to play some sort of stupid game? Like... I someone says a letter, and we have to name as many ballplayers as we can with a name that begins with that letter. No cheating on google!
And they talked about JD being out last week with vertigo... I got hit last night with a MAJOR case of vertigo. I almost vomited, and I couldn't walk straight. It was like being really really drunk- except minus the fun.
Texy, don't tempt me. I *really* need to get some work done. I'm so burned out on it, but deadlines are deadlines (well, this one was a few weeks ago, but got pushed back because of other projects).
TG, that's not fun. I occasionally get it when I sit up from lying down. Not long enough to get nauseated but it does make me "swimmy-headed." Ugh. I hope yours stays gone.
Thanks for the sympathy guys.
ecl thanks for the advice but without boring you with the details I'm battling a little illness right so I think it's more related to that. I'll just continue to inappropriately self medicate. :)
And geez, Tex, you always want to make work out of watching a game.
LOL, fc...self-medicate away. Have a few for me while you're at it -- I can't and wish I could (too many medications to do so safely). And I hope your little illness goes away. :-)
actually fc i was in our hometown today for the Newington Lacrosse youth day. Some of my friends played in the alumni game at 2 PM. and i have no idea how the hell they played in that heat. someone said it was about 110 degrees on the field.
the scary part is that they still do that. They had some kind of safety day at mill pond because when i was leaving my mom's work they were landing a helicopter on the baseball field there.
fc, I just go for a different type, that's all! Most of the guys who turn my head have a bit more melanin than JD. But he's not bad-looking at all. Neither is Casey. Neither is Cash.
LOL about "never mind." I've got a filthy mind myself.
ecl, it's frustrating, if Fox wants to broadcast a game (Dodgers/Cubs), fine, but by showing other games regionally, it makes it impossible for us to see it. I know...whine!
jules, it wouldn't have been such a disappointment if mlb.com didn't have this game listed on the schedule as being on FOX. I wish they had specified that it was regional. At least I wouldn't have had that unhappy surprise a few hours ago when I turned on my TV and found a different game on. Not that I have anything against the Cubs or Dodgers...actually I enjoy the Cubs, they're on TV here regularly, but that's not what I wanted to watch.
Yes, Youk got an error.
Note that the errorless streak was at first base, in the regular season. During that streak he's had both errors at 3rd and an error at 1st in the post season.
You know, as unfortunate as that was, a little humbling can sometimes do some good. And you guys know I say that with love!
Thanks for the info. He had a close call last night, but they charged the E to Mikey. I think fc might have a good point. He needs to loosen up, just a touch.

Wow, no one here yet?
