Hi folks! I'll be around for about an hour, when I'll have to go to a condo association meeting. At least we'll have the game on in the background so I'll still be able to follow the game.
shark, Just don't pray for the ones happening now in Orlando. There's tornado warnings and severe weather warnings near one of my friend's houses who said it got so dark she thought it was night. The street lights even had to go on.
Rats--MASN must have had technical difficulties because there was blessed silence (other than crowd noise) for the first few minutes. Now I am cursed with the Most Annoying Voice In Color, Buck Martinez.
According to Remy, "Joco" is playing left. It was a mistake, but it's prompted me to decide to heretofore refer to our starting center fielder as "Joco Crispury."
And calling the centerfielder "Joco" precludes any worry over mixing them up and/or leaving one of them out. They are now melded into one lean, mean, base-stealing diving-catch machine.
I grew up with McCarver doing Mets games so I'm kind of used to him. Morgan and Harrelson amuse me but it's not so much what Buck has to say as his incredibly annoying grating voice.
Popping in for a moment to tell all those sweltering on the East Coast that relief is in sight for you. The front is currently passing (rather violently) though Western NC and we've dropped from 90 to the upper 60s.
I remember seeing some pictures of her from Youk's Hits for Kids event over the offseason. It was when they did that newlyweds-type show with the Manny and Anna Delcarmen, Tito and Jacque Francona, Youk and his fiancee, and Jacoby and his girlfriend... I'll try and find the photos.
Aw, crap - I'm off to my condo association meeting to discuss important issues like how we can't keep a groundskeeper because people aren't cleaning up their dog poop.
I'll have an eye (or two) on the game and hope to return here before too long.
I'm here for now. I need to work, but am completely fried. good news is that I found out today I'm going to get an assistant! I'm looking forward to not working 6-7/days a week.
Dang, Jules, no one should have to work 6-7/days a week!
I'm pretty fried too...work stress and all. It's our busiest time of the year, among other things. At the moment I'm just trying to wind down from the day! Those two runs just helped start my evening off well.
Yeah, I'm tired. I've been wicked busy, but can't complain too much. I can set my own hours and work extra hours at home (on my couch, watching the Sox ;-).
He really was. I hope he comes up to the booth every time the Sox play the O's--although it'd give Baltimore fans who prickle at Millar going to the Celtics game another reason to believe they're being betrayed (no offense, O's fans).
I can flex my schedule somewhat due to medical appointments, and also come in at 9:30 to accommodate my internal clock. My job duties aren't tied to patient care so I can sit in my cube until whenever.
It will, Erin...it just hasn't moved far enough east yet. The northern end of it is still in NY and PA. You may be pleasantly surprised by tomorrow morning. Just pack an umbrella!
Doesn't seem like it, course we only hit the high 90's today...supposed to get to 100 from what they said this morning, but I don't think it ever got there. Heat is supposed to break tomorrow, high will only be around 92. YAY!
Wow jules, that's pretty heady stuff you do! I work with electronic medical records for the most part. The flex time aspect is one of the things keeping me there -- also the fact that it's a fabulous organization. The big fly in the ointment right now involves a new boss who could give Leona Helmsley (The Queen of Mean) a run for her money. I'm laying low for now and seeing how it goes over the next little while.
Erin, here's a link to a radar map that you can click to animate (the animated loop tab is above the map). I'm giving you the one for the northeast. You can check the progress of the weather. It'll get there, don't worry!
I have the espn gamecast up (was doing work, couldn't really watch...) and here I was thinking that Manny Delcarmen was loading the bases, because that's who they said was pitching.
Hey guys, coming out of lurking mode to ask a quick question - Did they just say the Beckett is erased from a decision? I thought that since he played 6 innings and left with the lead, he could qualify for the win.
Once the Orioles tied the score, the win was erased for Beckett.
In order to qualify for a win, you have to pitch 5 complete, plus leave with the lead. But if the team blows the lead, you get a No Decision. (similarly, if you leave down in the score, but the team comes back and ties the score, you get a No Decision)
Once the Orioles tied the game, Beckett cannot factor in the decision.
If the Red Sox come back take the lead in this inning and hold on to win, MDC would get the win since he was the pitcher of record when the Red Sox retook the lead.
If, say, the Orioles had only scored one run, and we left that inning leading 6-5, Beckett would still be in the line for the win. The best way to think about it is to just think of the game starting over once it's tied (assuming the starter is out of the game at that point).
Hey kids - I have a sweet fieldbox ticket for tomorrow's game, looking for an owner who can pay for it. Before I head out to anonymous-Craig's-list-land or something similar, anyone here interested?
SoxFan, I wouldn't go that far yet. Gagne was pretty terrible and, at the moment, I can only remember two instances of Oki completely sucking. He was pretty good last year and has had some good innings this year.
fc, I'd be interested if my parents wouldn't flip at me meeting someone I'd met online in person (I know I'm little... and I don't mean you're a stalker or anything, that's just how they are). Sounds like a good deal, though.
Also, Lifelong, I just think American hitters have finally figured him out is all. Once he comes up with another way to keep them off-balance, he'll be lights-out Okie again.
Weird. Gamecast said it was "looking." I figured they'd indicate "swinging" if it was a checked swing. Meanwhile, we pin on our hopes on Crisp, Cora and Ellsbury in the ninth.
Ian if you wanted thunderstorms you should have come down to Orlando. Part of a roof came off a restaurant and sheds were torn apart the wind was so bad.
where i was last night back in the hometown again, it was 95 plus out, at the same time, it was 85 down here. and that's only about 32 miles difference.
Just checked the bank account, and pay day isn't until Thursday and I don't have near the amount for the ticket. I'm sorry... I hope you can find someone!!! I'd KILL to sit there though. Good luck!!!

Any chance that new Sox nation commercial can be put up on here? SO freaking cute I can't even stand it.
The "Alphabet begins with B, The highest grade is C, Autographs end with K" one?
