Greetings, Virtual People.

[ Jessi ] says:
on June 2, 2008 7:09 PM

Oh boyy between this not being up and my mlb.tv not working, I was ready to cry...however both are now up and I'm much happier =]

[ njdevils ] says:
on June 2, 2008 7:09 PM

Hola!

[ jules ] says:
on June 2, 2008 7:13 PM

hola!

That's about all the Espanol I know.

I hope Wake pitches a great game. AND the bats give him some support. They really let him down last time.

I won't be around much--I have to go out to get my hair done.

YOOOOOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUK!

[ fc ] says:
on June 2, 2008 7:13 PM

Silly Orioles. Thank you.

[ jules ] says:
on June 2, 2008 7:15 PM

Masterson tomorrow!

Note to the world...I am *not* doing anything between 3 and 6 ;-)

(the game is earlier tomorrow, eh?)

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on June 2, 2008 7:17 PM

Great- 2 LOB! Fabulous way to start Wake off!

[ fc ] says:
on June 2, 2008 7:17 PM

The game is earlier tomorrow? According to whom?
I know they moved Thursday's from 7 to 6 PM because of the Celtics, but is something up tomorrow?

[ fc ] says:
on June 2, 2008 7:18 PM

Jules, that's ET - not sure where you are.

[ Jessi ] says:
on June 2, 2008 7:18 PM

Aw no Pedroia, Papi, or Tek? This is sad.

[ choco ] says:
on June 2, 2008 7:19 PM

Man, I haven't done this in so long! I miss the discussion. But, unfortunately, one of my non-basebally friends is coming over. My mom, her mom, and my grandma are doing something here. I'm forcing her to watch the game (even though I have 7 House's in my DVR library), I just can't chat it up here. Tomorrow is my mom's birthday, but I told I have to watch Justin pitch, so my mom, dad and me will watch that together and I'll leave the laptop in my room to spend some time with her during the game. Wednesday I have a church thing, Thursday I'm sleeping over my friend's house, and then maybe Friday I'll be able to join you guys again! See ya then...

[ Erin ] says:
on June 2, 2008 7:21 PM

Hello everyone! Sorry If I've been gone lately. There have been a ton of family events for me in the pass few weeks so I haven't had much time to spend in these threads.

[ njdevils ] says:
on June 2, 2008 7:22 PM

I'll see you later, Choco!

Um, what's going on with the time change? I'm listening to the radio, and I haven't heard anything on there. Is tomorrow's game still on ESPN?

[ Jessi ] says:
on June 2, 2008 7:23 PM

Brian Roberts needs to stop acting like Jacoby.

[ fc ] says:
on June 2, 2008 7:24 PM

We are not off to a very good start this inning - top or bottom.

[ Ian ] says:
on June 2, 2008 7:24 PM

Thursday's game is at 6:05 because of the Celtics.

Tomorrow's game is at 7:05 and yes is still on ESPN

[ njdevils ] says:
on June 2, 2008 7:25 PM

Thanks, Ian!
=D

[ Ian ] says:
on June 2, 2008 7:26 PM

strike 'em out....throw 'em out

[ Jessi ] says:
on June 2, 2008 7:26 PM

haha HUFF.

[ fc ] says:
on June 2, 2008 7:26 PM

Thanks Ian. I'm going tomorrow and was wondering if I'd have to have a 'family emergency' to leave work.

And yay for ending taht inning without damage.

[ Erin ] says:
on June 2, 2008 7:27 PM

njdevils- Are you going to be watching the hockey game tonight? I'm going to be switching back and forth between games.

Nice play guys! Now get some runs.

[ jules ] says:
on June 2, 2008 7:27 PM

DOH! THe early game is Thursday!

Never mind me...LONG day.

fc, I'm in California.

[ Ian ] says:
on June 2, 2008 7:27 PM

if you don't see a post from me here in a while, it's because i passed out. someone in my building is smoking some serious maryjane right now and it smells wonderful in here.

[ Ian ] says:
on June 2, 2008 7:28 PM

well fc the red sox are "family" so I think it would work.

[ njdevils ] says:
on June 2, 2008 7:29 PM

Yep, I'll be watching that tonight, Erin. I want the Penguins to win, mainly because of this. =)

[ Erin ] says:
on June 2, 2008 7:33 PM

nj- I want the Penguins to win also. My cousin is a HUGE Penguins fan.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on June 2, 2008 7:34 PM

I wish I had maryjane fumes wafting in my window.

[ fc ] says:
on June 2, 2008 7:34 PM

A former roommate of mine was a Penguins fan. Because she liked penguins.

[ njdevils ] says:
on June 2, 2008 7:34 PM

Cool. Also, the Penguins kicked both the Flyers andthe Rangers out of the playoffs, so I sort of owe them my support.

[ jules ] says:
on June 2, 2008 7:35 PM

I'm outta here to fight traffic.

Go Sox!

[ Erin ] says:
on June 2, 2008 7:37 PM

I hate the Flyers so any team that beats them is cool in my book( well not the Habs, I hate them more than the Flyers).

fc- When I was younger I liked the Penguins for the very same reason

[ Liza ] says:
on June 2, 2008 7:37 PM

Hey guys. Sorry I'm late.

Yeah JD and AC!

[ fc ] says:
on June 2, 2008 7:37 PM

Nice!

[ fc ] says:
on June 2, 2008 7:38 PM

Strangely, I've never been fond of brightly-colored footware.

[ fc ] says:
on June 2, 2008 7:39 PM

Oh for the love of...
That should be "footwear."

[ njdevils ] says:
on June 2, 2008 7:39 PM

See ya, Jules!
Penguins are kind of cute, fc. (Yes, I'm talking about both the animals and Sidney).

[ Jessi ] says:
on June 2, 2008 7:40 PM

I just looked on this "friend's" facebook (can't stand the girl) and guess what I just freakin saw? She has pictures of her and Pedroia! And a picture of Manny's 500th homerun! I guess she got one of those package deals for the game. I kinda wanna kill myself right now.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on June 2, 2008 7:40 PM

WARE. You said WARE.

[ fc ] says:
on June 2, 2008 7:41 PM

But I corrected myself! Don't I get points for that?
(Damn fingers. The brain knows this stuff.)

[ njdevils ] says:
on June 2, 2008 7:42 PM

While he's busy inhaling maryjane funes, be sure to
VOTE FOR IAN!

[ Ian ] says:
on June 2, 2008 7:42 PM

hottie hazel is leaving nesn at the end of the month

[ Jessi ] says:
on June 2, 2008 7:46 PM

Hahaha MASN just said how Brian Roberts "stole" Pedroia's glove. They claim that he walked over and put Pedroia's glove way up high so he couldn't reach it. Hahaha.

[ Erin ] says:
on June 2, 2008 7:47 PM

Dumb question but, what ever happened to Eric Frede?

[ Ian ] says:
on June 2, 2008 7:47 PM

not sure what happened to him but he was calling the sea dogs game last week.

[ fc ] says:
on June 2, 2008 7:49 PM

What just happened there?

[ Jessi ] says:
on June 2, 2008 7:50 PM

He got thrown out for complaining about the strike zone.

[ Ian ] says:
on June 2, 2008 7:50 PM

nj, that would be incorrect. Kathryn Tappen is the Bruins studio host, pregame and postgame.

he's doing football for them.

http://www.nesn.com/content/about/personalities/efrede.aspx

[ Liza ] says:
on June 2, 2008 7:50 PM

Jeez, Trembley...

[ njdevils ] says:
on June 2, 2008 7:50 PM

Sorry...that was from Wikipedia.

[ Jessi ] says:
on June 2, 2008 7:51 PM

I kinda feel bad for him because the strike zone has been so wacky lately. Some days it's huge and other days pitchers are lucky to get a called strike.

[ Ian ] says:
on June 2, 2008 7:51 PM

and the strange part of that, he didn't cuss. all he said was this is not a strike. this is not a strike.

[ Ian ] says:
on June 2, 2008 7:51 PM

we'll let it slide since you don't have NESN.

Seems no one updates his wiki page :D

[ njdevils ] says:
on June 2, 2008 7:53 PM

Ian, it's my fault for not picking a more reliable source (such as you!).

[ Erin ] says:
on June 2, 2008 7:54 PM

Thanks for the info you guys. I wonder if he could take over as host for Hazel's shows when she leaves.

[ Liza ] says:
on June 2, 2008 7:54 PM

Sorry I'm not posting much... I'm kind of sleepwatching the game. I'm exhausted.

[ Ian ] says:
on June 2, 2008 7:58 PM

if it makes you feel better, i checked wiki first ;) but since I knew he wasn't the host anymore, i checked nesn since i'm there in the hazel mae chat right now.

[ njdevils ] says:
on June 2, 2008 7:59 PM

It's time for me to go watch the Cosby Crosby Show. I'll probably be back here later tonight, but if not, Bye!

[ Ian ] says:
on June 2, 2008 8:01 PM

Brandon Moss is International league player of the week - .400, 4 homers, 9 RBI, including three homers in one game.

[ fc ] says:
on June 2, 2008 8:03 PM

More stranded runners.

[ Ian ] says:
on June 2, 2008 8:04 PM

they need to start bringing those guys around.

[ Liza ] says:
on June 2, 2008 8:04 PM

Brandon Moss is crazy good. When I was at Fenway earlier this year the guy sitting next to me couldn't stop raving about him (this was when Drew was out with his sprained wrist).

But stranding more baserunners? Not exactly crazy good.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on June 2, 2008 8:07 PM

So if Hazel's leaving... does that mean we get another vacuous blonde who doesn't know anything about sports to fill her spot?

(and I'm not talking about Kathryn - who kicks ass)

[ Jessi ] says:
on June 2, 2008 8:09 PM

DAMN IT

[ fc ] says:
on June 2, 2008 8:09 PM

I did not enjoy that sequence of events.

[ Ian ] says:
on June 2, 2008 8:10 PM

no bueno

[ fc ] says:
on June 2, 2008 8:11 PM

OK, that just plain sucks.

[ Jessi ] says:
on June 2, 2008 8:11 PM

DAMN IT AGAIN

[ Ian ] says:
on June 2, 2008 8:12 PM

well they have a month to fill the position. My guess is we see kathryn a little more (maybe taking over as main anchor). but yeah they will probably hire another looker for the screen either way.

[ Erin ] says:
on June 2, 2008 8:12 PM

lame

[ Jessi ] says:
on June 2, 2008 8:14 PM

I'm thinking it's a great time for a double play...

[ Liza ] says:
on June 2, 2008 8:14 PM

That was surreal--I honestly think I just nodded off in front of the computer. I looked up and Baltimore has two runs now. And Hernandez is up now. Creepy D:

[ njdevils ] says:
on June 2, 2008 8:19 PM

Liza, are you tired because you were up late partying for your birthday last night? :P

[ Liza ] says:
on June 2, 2008 8:22 PM

Not quite. I stayed up until like 2 (not at all uncommon for me) to watch the Mets/Dodgers and finish my homework, then had a softball game just now (and walked like 2 miles home afterward). I'm basically just wiped out.

So, when's the next off-day?

[ Ian ] says:
on June 2, 2008 8:24 PM

next off day is next monday

[ Avery ] says:
on June 2, 2008 8:25 PM

Hi all, how is everyone?

[ blood and whiskey ] says:
on June 2, 2008 8:28 PM

hi, everyone
:D

[ njdevils ] says:
on June 2, 2008 8:29 PM

Hey, Avery and B&W!

[ Avery ] says:
on June 2, 2008 8:31 PM

Hey NJ. Just got home from dinner- had the BEST sandwiches. Did I miss anything exciting?

[ njdevils ] says:
on June 2, 2008 8:33 PM

Yes, Marian Hossa just scored! 1-0 Pens. /hockey

[ fc ] says:
on June 2, 2008 8:34 PM

Yay 502!

[ blood and whiskey ] says:
on June 2, 2008 8:35 PM

*waves*
this past week has been the greatest.
I've been smiling since Manny's--hey, 502!

[ Erin ] says:
on June 2, 2008 8:35 PM

NJ-I'm switching back and forth between games and I missed the goal.

[ Jessi ] says:
on June 2, 2008 8:35 PM

MANNYYY 502!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 2, 2008 8:35 PM

OMG -- what a way to start my baseball evening. MANNY!!!!!

(squeeeeee)

[ Liza ] says:
on June 2, 2008 8:36 PM

502! That helped wake me up. :)

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 2, 2008 8:36 PM

P.S. Hi everyone...just got done putting the groceries away and am settling in with a snack to sustain me until I can cram supper down my throat.

Now to catch up on the thread...

[ Avery ] says:
on June 2, 2008 8:37 PM

MANUELLL. Come on JD lets tie it up!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 2, 2008 8:38 PM

IAN -- did I read you correctly, tomorrow's game is on ESPN? Nationally?

[ Ian ] says:
on June 2, 2008 8:39 PM

no wednesday's game is espn

[ Ian ] says:
on June 2, 2008 8:40 PM

and josh beckett is starting that one

[ fc ] says:
on June 2, 2008 8:40 PM

OK, giving NESN some props - they just cut the commercial off to catch the first pitch of this at bat.

[ njdevils ] says:
on June 2, 2008 8:41 PM

That's weird. Sports Illustrated's "Week Ahead" says: "Tuesday 6/3. Rays at Red Sox. ESPN 7 pm."

[ Ian ] says:
on June 2, 2008 8:41 PM

nice catch coco!!

[ Jessi ] says:
on June 2, 2008 8:41 PM

YES Coco!

[ fc ] says:
on June 2, 2008 8:41 PM

And THAT'S what's great about Coco.

[ blood and whiskey ] says:
on June 2, 2008 8:42 PM

-Oh, I've been dying to tell this to anyone who would listen, and since this is the internet, I can do that now. Okay.

On my way out of the park on Saturday, I was giddy and skipping and things when I stopped at a crosswalk. A cab pulled up, and I glanced inside, and I nearly died when I saw Remy looking back at me. :']

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 2, 2008 8:43 PM

Yeah, I checked the schedule and it IS Wednesday. Excellent -- I'm leaving work early that day anyway. And it's great to see that some games get added on TV as the season progresses.

[ Avery ] says:
on June 2, 2008 8:44 PM

I hate it when you all say good catch. It makes me sad I can only watch it on gameday :( But I like knowing that the boys make good catches too. Yes. Basically.

[ njdevils ] says:
on June 2, 2008 8:45 PM

Thanks, Ian. Actually, that fits into my schedule better. And Beckett's pitching? YES!

Cool, B&W!

2-0 Pens!

[ fc ] says:
on June 2, 2008 8:46 PM

And Coco makes the catch again!

[ Ian ] says:

[ njdevils ] says:

Same here, Avery. At least they put some plays up on the video on GameDay. In fact, Coco's catch just got put up there.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 2, 2008 8:50 PM

All I can say is,.. Fox had jolly well better have the Sox on in this neck of the woods or I'm going to pitch a blood-curdlin' hissy fit!

[ Ian ] says:
on June 2, 2008 8:51 PM

is that manny spending time with the boys in the booth???

[ Liza ] says:
on June 2, 2008 8:51 PM

AWWW.The bullpen brings the pirate flag with them on the road. That strikes me as adorable.

[ Avery ] says:
on June 2, 2008 8:55 PM

Everytime I hear about the bullpen and their pirate stuff it makes me feel all warm and cuddly inside. But really. It is so cute.

[ fc ] says:
on June 2, 2008 8:56 PM

Go Cashie!

[ Jessi ] says:
on June 2, 2008 8:56 PM

Cash!

[ Avery ] says:
on June 2, 2008 8:56 PM

SNIPE KEVIN CASH

[ blood and whiskey ] says:
on June 2, 2008 8:56 PM

hey, Cash!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 2, 2008 8:57 PM

AlRIGHT!!! Nice going, Cash and Cora!

[ Ian ] says:
on June 2, 2008 8:57 PM

MONEY MONEY

[ Ian ] says:
on June 2, 2008 8:58 PM

OOPS OOPS.

CASH CASH

[ Liza ] says:
on June 2, 2008 8:59 PM

I would call him Cash-Man if not for Brian Cashman...

[ Liza ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:01 PM

That is one loud YANKEES SUCK chant going on in the background.

[ Ian ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:01 PM

even bodymore, murderland you get the "yankees suck" chant

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:03 PM

NYY and MIN tied bot 6th. Maybe that's why they're chanting that?

[ Ian ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:06 PM

that jay bruce guy on the reds is on absolute tear. he's hitting .600 since being called up. And he's playing everyday as well.

[ Liza ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:07 PM

"For every... [incoherent giggling for about 15 seconds]"

I love Remy.

[ Ian ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:07 PM

i'd like to know what made them lose it at the start of the inning. Them being remy and don

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:07 PM

So Liza...you're not the only one who is absolutely fried. If I hadn't had to get something for an office potluck, I would have blown off grocery shopping. I'm totally exhausted. Supper will probably help...if one of the essential parts ever finishes defrosting in the microwave!

[ Kara ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:08 PM

Is he ok? I'm only half listening to the game, so I might have missed something.

Remy needs to breathe during those things. I get nervous what he gets all squeaky.

[ blood and whiskey ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:08 PM

I miss Don & Remy.
I'll hear 'em tomorrow, finally :]

[ Liza ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:09 PM

Jay Bruce is fierce. I really, really like him.

And Ecl, I'm thinking of actually going to sleep at 10, regardless of what's going on in the game. There's no way I'm staying awake much longer than that.

[ Avery ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:09 PM

Ian/TG, i like your videos of Remy. *hint hint*

[ Ian ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:11 PM

*hint hint* lol

[ Erin ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:12 PM

Anyone catching any part of the Yanks/Twins game on ESPN? That guy Reyes who is pitching for the Twins has the biggest head I have ever seen on a human.

[ Ian ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:13 PM

wakefield's given up 5 hits 4 walks 3 strikeouts

[ fc ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:13 PM

Only problem is, there wasn't a Don & Remy video portion of that - just audio of Remy laughwheezing.

[ Ian ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:13 PM

it's not on ESPN for me and i refuse to switch to YES.

But he does have a big head.

[ Ian ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:14 PM

remy's laughwheezing is like a daily occurrence.

[ Avery ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:15 PM

But a daily occurrence that I miss due to my godparents' lack of a television.

[ fc ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:15 PM

I think there's some funny smoke up in that booth.

[ Ian ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:15 PM

let's go red sox chant by red sox fans. orioles fans booing thus sounding like yooooooooooooouuuuuuuuuuk

[ Ian ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:16 PM

maybe the maryjane smoke from apt building made it down there to the booth.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:17 PM

Liza, I don't think I'll last much longer than that myself. Must! Get! Sleep!

[ fc ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:17 PM

Oh, those wacky Orioles!

[ Ian ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:17 PM

i'm guessing they were laughing because someone said something to them right before coming on air about the elvis look-a-like

[ Avery ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:18 PM

ELVIS LOOK A LIKE? Lets go Mikey!

[ blood and whiskey ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:19 PM

Mikey!

[ Jessi ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:19 PM

Mikey!!!!!!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:19 PM

Mmmm...all this talk of wacky smoke is making me long for my wild and crazy youth.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:19 PM

Mikey LoLo!

[ Liza ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:19 PM

Two kids in my bio class had put spiked orange juice in a water bottle and were drinking it today in class. They started giggling like crazy--well, like Don and Remy, now that I think about it.

Yay, runs!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:20 PM

YEAH MikeyLOL!

[ Ian ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:21 PM

now if they boo during the let's go red sox chant, it will sound like drewwwwwwwwwwww

/points out obvious

[ fc ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:21 PM

Liza, that reminds me of the time my college roommate, a diabetic, needed to bring her sugar level up the morning after a party. She reached into our little fridge, grabbed the bottle of orange juice, took a big swig - GULP! I had turned it into screwdrivers the night before.

[ Ian ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:22 PM

manny obviously doesn't do run downs.

[ Jessi ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:22 PM

Haha yea "he only hits homeruns" (masn commentor)

[ njdevils ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:23 PM

Liza and Ecl, I want to go to bed early, but I have too much homework. Finals start next week, so I have to study for those. And I have a test in Health tomorrow on, well, I think you can guess what it's on...

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:23 PM

fc: OOPS for your roommate! A little hair of the dog...

[ Avery ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:24 PM

I want to go to bed early too, but I am here instead of writing my English paper that is due tomorrow at 8, so I'll be up late with nj.

[ Liza ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:24 PM

fc, that's unfortunate!

NJ, I have lots of homework, but it's all long-term projects. I'd bomb them if I did them now (and my finals aren't until June 17-19!).

COME ON AC.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:25 PM

nj: no can guess much of anything right now. If it's too embarrassing to post here, you can message me at the usual place! :-)

Okay guys...(begging, pleading)...

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:25 PM

I want to go to bed but I have to watch baseball and write "Mrs. Jacoby Ellsbury" 100 times in my trapper keeper in glittery ink.

[ Jessi ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:26 PM

I would give anything to go to bed early, but I have a final tomorrow, two Thursday, another Friday, and a bunch more next week. And I'm getting wayyy too distracted by this game.

[ fc ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:27 PM

Aw, are we making fun of the youg uns?

[ Liza ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:27 PM

Nuhhh. Oh well.

[ Jessi ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:27 PM

Damn it if he didn't swing at that we would have another run and only one out!

[ Ian ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:28 PM

everyone sitting down???

I have the Big Papi news

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:28 PM

GRRRRRR.....

[ Ian ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:28 PM

courtesy of rob bradford at the bradford files-----

The Herald’s Tony Massarotti is reporting that David Ortiz has ligament damage in his left wrist and will be out at least a month. If the injury doesn’t heal correctly in that time span, Ortiz will have to undergo surgery.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:28 PM

Okay Ian, go ahead...

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:29 PM

No, the pink hats.

[ Avery ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:29 PM

I assume its bad then, Ian.

[ fc ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:29 PM

Look, we're hitting their pitching now and we took the lead. That was a disappointing end of inning for us but I for one am pleased.

[ njdevils ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:29 PM

:(

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:29 PM

Aw shit. Shit. Shit...

[ fc ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:30 PM

Oh Papi...and just after all that business with your knee...

[ Liza ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:30 PM

Ian, so does the Herald...

[ Jessi ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:30 PM

Nooo Papi!

[ Avery ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:30 PM

Oh poor Papi, especially after his knee issues last season.

[ Liza ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:31 PM

Oh man. SHIT.

My mom's reaction: "Well,at least it solves the outfield problem."

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:31 PM

EFF ME. No, Big Papi! Guess we'll be seeing a lot more of that Ellsbury-Coco-Drew outfield.

[ Avery ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:31 PM

And right after the bad news, Okajima gives up 2 singles in a row.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:32 PM

Oki, WTH are you doing?

[ Jessi ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:32 PM

Liza that was actually my reaction. If this can be positive in any way, it's we will now have a great outfield and Manny will be a good DH.

[ Liza ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:32 PM

Okay, Okie. Strikes they can't hit are good.

[ fc ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:32 PM

That's what Tek is saying.

[ Ian ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:33 PM

liza - just so you know rob bradford works for the herald. his blog there is the bradford files

[ Jessi ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:33 PM

Bases loaded...0 outs....one run lead....

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:33 PM

I hate you, Aubrey! You are a douche and you need to quit hitting.

[ Liza ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:33 PM

As Jacoby chooses to exemplify right now, I will miss Manny's arm in left, even if not his glove.

[ Avery ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:34 PM

3 singles. in a row. Lets pull a triple play?

[ Liza ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:34 PM

Ian, I know that. My computer weirded out on me so I meant to post my comment before you'd posted that.

[ Jessi ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:34 PM

How about an unassisted triple play for Lugo?

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:35 PM

Avery, unassisted?

[ njdevils ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:35 PM

That sounds good to me, Avery and Jessi!

[ Liza ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:36 PM

...that's not an unassisted triple play.

[ Jessi ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:36 PM

Phew for a second there I thought it was a grand slam

[ Ian ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:36 PM

and texy can pick on whomever she chooses. :D

/ass kissing

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:37 PM

Thank you JD for keeping the damage as minimal as it could be.

[ Jessi ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:37 PM

Ok so I want Tek and Pedroia back in the game.

[ Erin ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:37 PM

I can't see it, but Gameday sure makes it seem like Okie has nothing tonight, at least when it comes to command.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:38 PM

Aubrey really is a douchenozzle, though.

[ Avery ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:38 PM

In play, out(s). I can relax now?

[ fc ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:39 PM

Nice little rundown there.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:41 PM

DAMN IT, Oki! Stop putting guys on base! JEEZUS.

[ Avery ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:41 PM

I'm not going to deny it, I'm freaking out a little bit over here.

[ fc ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:41 PM

Oki are you HIGH?

[ Liza ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:42 PM

I don't often use the term "douche" (and by "don't often" I pretty much mean "never"), but if I was to apply it to anyone*, it'd definitely be Huff. He's an asshole.

*In baseball, that is

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:42 PM

No fc, he drank some orange juice before the game.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:43 PM

He's Sir Douchebag Douchealot, Mayor of Douche Village

[ Jessi ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:43 PM

Oki...don't do it...

[ fc ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:43 PM

LOL, ecl, I guess it's all my fault AGAIN.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:43 PM

And Liza, he looks hideous as all get-out, too.

[ Liza ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:43 PM

Awwwwwww, Jacoby.

[ Ian ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:43 PM

FUCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:43 PM

Jacoby. No. Nononononono.

[ Jessi ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:43 PM

NOOOOOOO

[ fc ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:44 PM

Jacoby if there was ever a catch you HAD to make...

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:44 PM

That was a fucking horrible pitch. Just HORRIBLE.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:44 PM

Awwww, MFSOB...

Jacoby, you tried, I know you did...

[ Liza ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:44 PM

Am I the only one whose heart sank upon seeing who was coming in from the pen?

[ fc ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:45 PM

Replacing Oki with Lopez?
I may now officially have seen it all.

[ Erin ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:45 PM

Man. Based on what Gameday shows Okie doing, it seems a little odd not to get Papelbon to get the last out of the eighth, to keep this game tied.

[ Jessi ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:45 PM

Aw you know Jacoby is beating himself up for that

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:45 PM

Oki's holding on too tight. He's lost the edge.

[ fc ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:46 PM

"to keep this game tied."

sigh

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:46 PM

Once again proving that hindsight is 20/20, Erin.

[ fc ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:47 PM

I hate baseball.

[ Ian ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:47 PM

If there's anything positive out of that sequence, it's that jacoby appears to be ok

[ Avery ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:47 PM

I'm not even going to express emotion about that. Wake has had 2 decent outings in a row, and not a W to show for either. :(

[ Erin ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:47 PM

Yeah, fc, I know. Bad enough that we lost the lead in the first place, but Okie has really put us in a bad position now. If it had just stayed 3-3, I would have no doubts about our chances. Now, I'm not feeling so great.

[ Avery ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:47 PM

What happened with Jacoby?

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:47 PM

I couldn't see it, Ian. I know he fell down...was it a nasty spill?

[ Jessi ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:47 PM

This just isn't fair to Wakey - two good starts and probably two losses.

[ Ian ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:48 PM

i'll look at from a guys point of view - i have both wake and oki on my fantasy team. oki just killed my fantasy team for the night.

[ Jessi ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:48 PM

Jacoby leaped, missed, and crashed into the wall.

[ Erin ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:48 PM

Kind of ecl, except I was saying, "where is Papelbon?" before they scored the go-ahead runs. That wasn't so much "hindsight" as it was, well, "sight."

[ Ian ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:48 PM

no loss for wake IF they lose. it's all OKi's tonight

[ njdevils ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:48 PM

ECL and Avery, The video is up on GameDay, if you can bear to watch it.

[ Erin ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:49 PM

Ian, I forgot to play Wake on my team tonight, but lucky for me, Okie is alive and well on my roster. That should do wonders for my box score today.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:50 PM

Wake cannot get the loss. He left with the lead, he gets a ND.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:51 PM

Why is talking about fantasy baseball "looking at it from a guy's point of view"? /girl who has four fantasy teams

[ Jessi ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:51 PM

Oh wow what was I thinking? Haha I think lack of sleep is getting to me.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:51 PM

For some reason it doesn't want to load, nj. That happens sometimes, though...I'll try it again in a few minutes.

[ Ian ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:52 PM

he gets a ND. so if that means notre dame, it's like a loss.

/runs and hides now

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:53 PM

Every time Notre Dame loses, I blame the Patriots.

[ Avery ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:53 PM

Wow. Thats ugly. Poor Taco boy

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:53 PM

Erin, I was looking at it more from the manager's point of view...about not bringing in Paps. That's what I meant about hindsight.

[ Ian ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:53 PM

title of a post at extra bases:

Hideki Horrible

[ Liza ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:53 PM

Oh, Texy--how did that Blue Jays thing turn out? Did Rance win the triple crown? ;)

[ njdevils ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:54 PM

The videos just stopped working for me, too, ecl. It started to load and the ones before it worked, but not this one. It's not just me (or you), then, I guess...

[ fc ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:54 PM

oh crap

[ Ian ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:54 PM

funny every time notre dame loses, i laugh because weis left the patriots

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:54 PM

Okay c'mon Lugie, you're our last hope...

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:55 PM

LUGO - that was so clearly a K. You can't take that pitch.

[ Avery ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:56 PM

LETS GO YOUK

[ Ian ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:56 PM

YOUK CAAN DO IT

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:56 PM

Okay, that's acceptable. We'll take it, Julio.

[ Liza ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:56 PM

COME ON YOUUUUK

[ Erin ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:57 PM

Sorry if I sounded like an ass there, ecl. That wasn't my intention.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:58 PM

Sean + Josh chatting together = Slightly less shitty night

[ Avery ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:59 PM

YOU CAN DO THIS YOUK

[ Liza ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:59 PM

OKAY MANUEL.

[ Avery ] says:
on June 2, 2008 9:59 PM

503 Manny, 503.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 2, 2008 10:00 PM

No harm no foul, Erin. It's not always easy to convey stuff on line...especially when overtired!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 2, 2008 10:00 PM

Mannnnnyyyyyyy....please pretty please?

[ fc ] says:
on June 2, 2008 10:01 PM

Tex, I think we need a round of 501s.

[ Ian ] says:
on June 2, 2008 10:01 PM

wellllllllllllll sheeeeeeeeeeeeit

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on June 2, 2008 10:01 PM

Boo.

[ Jessi ] says:
on June 2, 2008 10:01 PM

Nice try Manny

[ fc ] says:
on June 2, 2008 10:01 PM

That hurt.
That really hurt.

[ Liza ] says:
on June 2, 2008 10:01 PM

That shot made me lightheaded. Oh boy.

Oh well. 3 out of 4 after 1 out of 6? Not a bad improvement.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 2, 2008 10:02 PM

Awww, Manny, we still love you.

[ Jessi ] says:
on June 2, 2008 10:02 PM

Postive note: we did win 3 of a series on the road.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on June 2, 2008 10:02 PM

I could use about fifteen 501's right now.
Loss.
Wake gets ND.
Oki sucks.
Jacoby fielding insanity.
Papi on the DL for a month, maybe more.
YUCK.

[ Avery ] says:
on June 2, 2008 10:03 PM

Uhh. Why did they leave Oki in for so long? (hindsight I know, but I want Wake to get his Ws)

[ Liza ] says:
on June 2, 2008 10:03 PM

Okay everyone. To sleep with me (and it's only 2 minutes after 10. I made good time).

[ Ian ] says:
on June 2, 2008 10:03 PM

It'd have been nice to go back to Fenway with a 4-game winning streak with the leaders of the AL East coming into town for a 3-game set.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 2, 2008 10:04 PM

Is a 501 some sort of drink? (I almost never drink, so am not up on these things)...

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 2, 2008 10:04 PM

Sleep well Liza -- I'm not far behind ya.

[ Jessi ] says:
on June 2, 2008 10:05 PM

At least the Yanks just lost. The losing pitcher was Farnsworth - the guy who is supposed to be taking Joba's start.

[ Jessi ] says:
on June 2, 2008 10:05 PM

*Joba's spot

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on June 2, 2008 10:06 PM

Pitchers pretty much don't care about W's - it's a meaningless stat. Wake's ERA and WHIP both fell tonight... that will keep him happy.

[ fc ] says:
on June 2, 2008 10:08 PM

Well I'll be visiting the boys at Fenway a few times but should be hanging out here again on Friday.

And ecl, yes, it's a drink, but don't worry about not having heard of it, it's as new as Manny's 501st.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 2, 2008 10:09 PM

Okay...off to check the videos and a few miscellaneous things, then to the horizontal position. Will see all you virtual people (LOL) tomorrow night.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 2, 2008 10:09 PM

fc: Fenway? I'm jealous! Now I must hang around long enough to hear what exactly is in this brand-new drink!

[ Ian ] says:
on June 2, 2008 10:33 PM

Manny doesn't care if he DH's with big Papi out. He said the Red Sox will miss his Gold Glove out in left.

Official diagnosis - partial tear of the ECU tendon sheath. He's in a soft cast and surgery won't be needed. There is no timetable for his return and has been placed on the 15-day DL.

[ Ian ] says:
on June 2, 2008 10:45 PM

new official diagnosis.

The official diagnosis is a partial tear of the ECU tendon sheath. He has been placed in a hard cast that he will be immobilized for 2 weeks. He’ll then need at least 10 days to 2 weeks to swing the bat and get back into playing shape. He most likely won’t need surgery to repair this uncommon injury. There is no timetable for his return yet although it appears the initial report of a month is right on.. He has been placed on the 15-day DL.
