As everyone might have figured out, my server is having problems yet again. If you visited - or, tried to visit- around 5:30 tonight, you saw an (erroneous) message that my host had "suspended" my account. This is all part of the ongoing problem that's cropped up around here periodically over the last few months... and it is most definitely NOT this website causing the server problems (as my host found out when I hollered up a storm when they suspended the account for 20 minutes).
So, all of this is to say, if you have problems accessing the site tonight, don't worry - you are NOT the only one.
And also rest assured that every time it stops working, I am going ballistic on my host. And since I'm drinking tonight, they better shape up or I fear I will be getting ruder to them. :)
Server issues are yuck. I tried making a website a year or so ago and my host (a friend I met online who let me have some of her space for free) at one point decided to cut down on the information on her server and just got rid of all my stuff, including the email I'd been using. And then wouldn't answer my emails. Good times. :P
Know what's weird? The T was remarkably uncrowded and calm on my way home, and I go by way of North Station (the Garden). Even the bare-chested-except-for-the-green-jacket-with-16-NBA-championship-patches guy was quiet and stayed on past North Station.
Oh, I miss Nesn, living outside of new england, we get the wonderful local people. I thought Espn was bad, tonight I get Phillie announcers. Oh yeah, I hope we win tonight, so I don't have to listen to them cheer.
fc, I believe it--I was on the T this afternoon and it was way quiet. I noticed that even before I remembered significant things were going ion in the world of Sports Not Called Baseball.
Does anyone here happen to know Dutch? And how one would pronounce the name "Swen Huijer"? (Swen Huijer is a 17-year-old kid who just signed with the Sox as an international minor league free agent, for the record).
Between the server, and the non stop storms here. I would like one day without tornado or storm warnings. We are supposed to be known for hurricanes not tornadoes.
Don't worry, fc, you're not alone. I gave up for awhile and surfed the net w/WRKO as background music, but I'm back (although I need to fix something to eat).
I take back my comment about the Philly announcers. They just spent the last 5mins talking about Teky, and showing close ups. I'm good now. And zoomed in on Beckett too. All I need is my 1 fav Papelbon, and I will be good for the night.
And now I'm good. They said our closer Papelbon is amazing. Oh yeah. I bought a closer poster from www.sportspropganda.com
It will be over my bed soon.
Last night my glass was half full, tonight I'm the master of understatement. I'm on a roll! It took me awhile to notice Tek simply because I go for the swarthy look, but yeah, he's hot. (is that better?)
Karen, thanks for that link. I need to get the poster of Papi and Manny, maybe some others after that. I only wish the Dunkin Donuts posters were available via the website, as I'm not in New England and missed out on them altogether. Gorgeous stuff he's got on that site!
I actually didn't notice Tek till last year. I pointed him out to my sister, who said where have you been? Of course she thinks Lowell is hot, don't get that. Cute but too old for me.
Erica, it's always very busy...the main thing that made it intense today was that I had a meeting with Human Resources at my request due to some garbage that my supervisor (AKA The Queen of Mean) has been pulling on me. Preparing for that meeting and sitting there for 45 minutes with the HR director was an intense experience. At least she listened to my concerns, although she didn't really have any good suggestions for me. (shrug) At least I spoke my piece and can go on from here.
See, I'm 49, so the grizzled veterans (the 30-somethings) look just fine to me. Lowell is nice looking, not as much as Tek. His eyebrows are too much for my taste.
I think the reason she likes Lowell is more for the hispanic part. I liked Tek better when he didn't have full facial hair. I liked the partial better, sexier.
She thanked me for making her aware of the situation. My work ethic and productivity are above reproach...boss is giving me a hard time based on things that one of my coworkers has said, best as I can tell. That coworker is retiring very soon, so I don't know why she's saying malicious things about me.
I feel for the work problems. I got laid off with half of my town back in January. I would be happy with any problem as long as I was working. Any problem other than not knowing where food money is going to come from works for me.
Aw shoot, Karen, I'm sorry. My stuff pales in comparison for sure. And with food as expensive as it is. Damn. Half your town...is it a one-industry town?
My town is technically a city, but it is a snowbird area, so once Easter comes, every leaves, mass evacuation. It is so part time, that a lot of businesses are only open Nov. to April. We have spring training, which left this year permanently, and aviation at a private airport. (Arizona is cheaper) And the banks were bought out by Canada.
I am hoping and praying for something soon.
The job I am hoping for is a 70mi each way commute, but the pay would be worth it, so yeah commuting is the only option for now. Once I am financially good, I am looking into Georgia, or Mississippi. I would love to come back to New England, just too pricey for me.
I can relate on the pricey, Karen. There's a big part of me that would like to leave NC in the next few years, and much as I would love to go home to the Northeast, I just don't see how I can afford it.
Oh, not at all. Today was the first two, and they were the easy subjects (English and Spanish). I have two more tomorrow (bio and math) and one more on Thursday (history).
Yeah, bio and math. I'm not at all worried about math (it's just algebra 2), but I do wish I had my own personal Chris Carter to help me study for bio. :)
I will be observing Radio Silence during the day game as I think NESN will rebroadcast it in its entirety at night. Anyone on my staff who gives spoilers will be fired.
On Friday Iand Monday 'm at Fenway, will probably try for day-of-game tix for the rest of the homestand. See y'all when we hit the road again.
