First comment! Lets hope tonight is better than yesterday.

Oh and BEAT LA!

[ Ellen ] says:
on June 17, 2008 6:59 PM

Amen to both of those!

As everyone might have figured out, my server is having problems yet again. If you visited - or, tried to visit- around 5:30 tonight, you saw an (erroneous) message that my host had "suspended" my account. This is all part of the ongoing problem that's cropped up around here periodically over the last few months... and it is most definitely NOT this website causing the server problems (as my host found out when I hollered up a storm when they suspended the account for 20 minutes).

So, all of this is to say, if you have problems accessing the site tonight, don't worry - you are NOT the only one.

And also rest assured that every time it stops working, I am going ballistic on my host. And since I'm drinking tonight, they better shape up or I fear I will be getting ruder to them. :)

Lester's roster picture makes me laugh

[ fc ] says:
on June 17, 2008 7:03 PM

CF is back online, happy dance!

[ Liza ] says:
on June 17, 2008 7:04 PM

Server issues are yuck. I tried making a website a year or so ago and my host (a friend I met online who let me have some of her space for free) at one point decided to cut down on the information on her server and just got rid of all my stuff, including the email I'd been using. And then wouldn't answer my emails. Good times. :P

[ fc ] says:
on June 17, 2008 7:05 PM

Know what's weird? The T was remarkably uncrowded and calm on my way home, and I go by way of North Station (the Garden). Even the bare-chested-except-for-the-green-jacket-with-16-NBA-championship-patches guy was quiet and stayed on past North Station.

[ Karen ] says:
on June 17, 2008 7:05 PM

Oh, I miss Nesn, living outside of new england, we get the wonderful local people. I thought Espn was bad, tonight I get Phillie announcers. Oh yeah, I hope we win tonight, so I don't have to listen to them cheer.

[ harley ] says:
on June 17, 2008 7:07 PM

hey everyone!

long time reader but first time poster!! i love this site and i visit everyday :]

[ Liza ] says:
on June 17, 2008 7:09 PM

Well I'll take that.

fc, I believe it--I was on the T this afternoon and it was way quiet. I noticed that even before I remembered significant things were going ion in the world of Sports Not Called Baseball.

[ Meghan ] says:
on June 17, 2008 7:09 PM

That's strange about the T...I would think it would be packed, especially because of all the BPD-imposed parking restrictions tonight.

[ Liza ] says:
on June 17, 2008 7:11 PM

Hi harley! :)

[ fc ] says:
on June 17, 2008 7:12 PM

G'head and boo JD, Philly fans. He's ours and we love him.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 17, 2008 7:13 PM

Hey all! Beat LA!

Sounds like Julio is distracting the pitcher severely...

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 17, 2008 7:13 PM

And welcome harley!

fc, we certainly do love him.

[ Jessi ] says:
on June 17, 2008 7:15 PM

Is the game really on ESPN? I just checked and I'm not getting it...

[ Liza ] says:
on June 17, 2008 7:15 PM

He is ours. :)

Come on Mannyman...

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 17, 2008 7:18 PM

Looks like SportsCenter is on ESPN for me...would have been an nice surprise to see our boys on there again.

Darn that fielding...c'mon MikeyLOL!

[ fc ] says:
on June 17, 2008 7:19 PM

Anyone see the interview with Youk on the pregame? So dejected that he couldn't play. He's like a sheepdog - he needs to work.

[ Meghan ] says:
on June 17, 2008 7:19 PM

Sadly, I think the first inning is all I'll be able to see...I've got a little basketball game to get to;-)

[ fc ] says:
on June 17, 2008 7:24 PM

Boo hoo, Meghan, you have the hottest ticket in town.

[ harley ] says:
on June 17, 2008 7:24 PM

I love when games are on ESPN b/c that is the only time I get to watch, but Gameday is better then nothing I guess!

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on June 17, 2008 7:30 PM

Dude. This server is KILLING ME.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 17, 2008 7:37 PM

(whew) Good job, Jon!

[ Liza ] says:
on June 17, 2008 7:38 PM

What is WITH Coco?

...I'm not complaining!

[ fc ] says:
on June 17, 2008 7:38 PM

Coco!!

[ jules ] says:
on June 17, 2008 7:38 PM

Meghan, I'm jealous!

Die, lakers, die!

Texy, great photos in your previous post.

Casey looks a bit stiff, hope he's OK (or maybe he just runs like a bear).

I've got to work, so I better get to it.

COCO goes yard!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

[ EricaC ] says:
on June 17, 2008 7:39 PM

Hi all!!

Yay COCO

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 17, 2008 7:39 PM

It's killing all of us, Texy. I think my kudos to Lester took 5 minutes to go through.

Yeah Coco!

[ jules ] says:
on June 17, 2008 7:39 PM

Oh yeah, Texy, you've got server issues. Who's your host?

[ Liza ] says:
on June 17, 2008 7:45 PM

Does anyone here happen to know Dutch? And how one would pronounce the name "Swen Huijer"? (Swen Huijer is a 17-year-old kid who just signed with the Sox as an international minor league free agent, for the record).

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 17, 2008 7:45 PM

Jules, sometime you should take a vacation. ;-)

[ Liza ] says:
on June 17, 2008 7:52 PM

If one kills a server, is it servercide?

[ fc ] says:
on June 17, 2008 7:59 PM

Is "who's your host" an internet taunt a la "who's your daddy"?

[ fc ] says:
on June 17, 2008 8:01 PM

Sweet DP!

[ Liza ] says:
on June 17, 2008 8:16 PM

Server up now?

[ fc ] says:
on June 17, 2008 8:18 PM

Has everyone else given up over server issues?

[ fc ] says:
on June 17, 2008 8:48 PM

Anyone home?

[ Liza ] says:
on June 17, 2008 8:50 PM

I'm here. Sort of.

Remy and Don got so lost they almost ended up in Atlantic City last night. Wow.

[ Karen ] says:
on June 17, 2008 8:50 PM

Between the server, and the non stop storms here. I would like one day without tornado or storm warnings. We are supposed to be known for hurricanes not tornadoes.

[ fc ] says:
on June 17, 2008 8:51 PM

Liza! I'm not alone!

[ fc ] says:
on June 17, 2008 8:52 PM

Jon Lester at-bat face. Priceless.

[ Liza ] says:
on June 17, 2008 8:53 PM

Lester's ADORABLE in a batting helmet. Awww. I want to give him a big hug.

[ fc ] says:
on June 17, 2008 8:56 PM

Lugo and Crisp as o8ur producers. Who'd a thunk?

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 17, 2008 8:58 PM

Karen, where are you?

[ fc ] says:
on June 17, 2008 8:59 PM

I think Karen's in Oz. /talking to hear the sound of my own voice

[ Karen ] says:
on June 17, 2008 8:59 PM

Florida. We have had bad storms for days. It's summer so we are used to some, usually 30-1hr a day. Lately up to 4hrs a day.

[ Liza ] says:
on June 17, 2008 9:00 PM

fc - The same people who'da thunk JD would kick complete ass the moment Papi went down.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 17, 2008 9:02 PM

Don't worry, fc, you're not alone. I gave up for awhile and surfed the net w/WRKO as background music, but I'm back (although I need to fix something to eat).

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 17, 2008 9:04 PM

That sounded like a great DP!

Karen, that sounds like no fun...and yeah, you've still got hurricane season to not look forward to.

[ Karen ] says:
on June 17, 2008 9:08 PM

I take back my comment about the Philly announcers. They just spent the last 5mins talking about Teky, and showing close ups. I'm good now. And zoomed in on Beckett too. All I need is my 1 fav Papelbon, and I will be good for the night.

[ EricaC ] says:
on June 17, 2008 9:12 PM

I don't know about the rest of you, but I am enjoying this game much better then last night's... Hopefully, it stays that way

[ fc ] says:
on June 17, 2008 9:12 PM

Karen, what did they have to say about Tek?

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 17, 2008 9:13 PM

Sounds like Manny just pulled a Colon swing.

[ fc ] says:
on June 17, 2008 9:14 PM

Nah, not so bad.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 17, 2008 9:14 PM

EricaC, I'm enjoying the game but am sort of distracted, probably because I had an intense day at work. Other than that, it's all good!

[ Karen ] says:
on June 17, 2008 9:17 PM

They were saying how good Tek is, and they zoomed in on his face. Good for me;amazing eyes. And how he is one of the best catchers. Definitely true.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 17, 2008 9:17 PM

fc, nothing could be that bad! It blew my mind when I read that he actually ended up on the DL after batting last night. Yikes.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 17, 2008 9:18 PM

Karen, Tek = definitely very attractive. And yes, a heck of a catcher.

[ Karen ] says:
on June 17, 2008 9:19 PM

And now I'm good. They said our closer Papelbon is amazing. Oh yeah. I bought a closer poster from www.sportspropganda.com
It will be over my bed soon.

[ EricaC ] says:
on June 17, 2008 9:20 PM

Karen, so true on all parts of that statement.

[ fc ] says:
on June 17, 2008 9:21 PM

Tek "very attractive"?
ecl you are a master of understatement.

[ EricaC ] says:
on June 17, 2008 9:25 PM

Uhoh

[ EricaC ] says:
on June 17, 2008 9:26 PM

I stand corrected... phew!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 17, 2008 9:26 PM

fc, "mistress," as I'm female! ;-)

Last night my glass was half full, tonight I'm the master of understatement. I'm on a roll! It took me awhile to notice Tek simply because I go for the swarthy look, but yeah, he's hot. (is that better?)

[ EricaC ] says:
on June 17, 2008 9:28 PM

ecl, is your job always intense, or was it just one of those days?

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 17, 2008 9:28 PM

Karen, thanks for that link. I need to get the poster of Papi and Manny, maybe some others after that. I only wish the Dunkin Donuts posters were available via the website, as I'm not in New England and missed out on them altogether. Gorgeous stuff he's got on that site!

[ Karen ] says:
on June 17, 2008 9:28 PM

I actually didn't notice Tek till last year. I pointed him out to my sister, who said where have you been? Of course she thinks Lowell is hot, don't get that. Cute but too old for me.

[ Karen ] says:
on June 17, 2008 9:30 PM

Oh God, Oki is warming up. I'm not sure I have the patience for him.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 17, 2008 9:31 PM

Erica, it's always very busy...the main thing that made it intense today was that I had a meeting with Human Resources at my request due to some garbage that my supervisor (AKA The Queen of Mean) has been pulling on me. Preparing for that meeting and sitting there for 45 minutes with the HR director was an intense experience. At least she listened to my concerns, although she didn't really have any good suggestions for me. (shrug) At least I spoke my piece and can go on from here.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 17, 2008 9:33 PM

See, I'm 49, so the grizzled veterans (the 30-somethings) look just fine to me. Lowell is nice looking, not as much as Tek. His eyebrows are too much for my taste.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 17, 2008 9:37 PM

Celtics up 24-20 end 1st quarter.

[ EricaC ] says:
on June 17, 2008 9:37 PM

That's never fun.... Hopefully, it will help out in the long run though (fingers crossed for you)

[ Karen ] says:
on June 17, 2008 9:38 PM

I think the reason she likes Lowell is more for the hispanic part. I liked Tek better when he didn't have full facial hair. I liked the partial better, sexier.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 17, 2008 9:40 PM

She thanked me for making her aware of the situation. My work ethic and productivity are above reproach...boss is giving me a hard time based on things that one of my coworkers has said, best as I can tell. That coworker is retiring very soon, so I don't know why she's saying malicious things about me.

Awwww, Julio! =/

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 17, 2008 9:41 PM

Karen, maybe your sister and I are on the same page. It's the Hispanic guys who turn my head the most.

[ Karen ] says:
on June 17, 2008 9:44 PM

I feel for the work problems. I got laid off with half of my town back in January. I would be happy with any problem as long as I was working. Any problem other than not knowing where food money is going to come from works for me.

[ EricaC ] says:
on June 17, 2008 9:45 PM

Some people just aren't happy unless they are making someone else miserable, unfortunately.

Oh Oki! Please don't blow the game

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 17, 2008 9:45 PM

(grrrrr)...

[ EricaC ] says:
on June 17, 2008 9:46 PM

(holding breath)

[ Karen ] says:
on June 17, 2008 9:47 PM

Pappy is warming up. Yeah!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 17, 2008 9:47 PM

Aw shoot, Karen, I'm sorry. My stuff pales in comparison for sure. And with food as expensive as it is. Damn. Half your town...is it a one-industry town?

[ Karen ] says:
on June 17, 2008 9:49 PM

Please throw out Oki, I can't take this.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 17, 2008 9:50 PM

(holding breath too)

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 17, 2008 9:51 PM

Fist pump!

[ EricaC ] says:
on June 17, 2008 9:52 PM

Oh thank you Oki... I was starting to turn blue!!

That sucks Karen, I hope something comes along for you soon

[ Karen ] says:
on June 17, 2008 9:52 PM

Glad that's over.

[ Karen ] says:
on June 17, 2008 9:55 PM

My town is technically a city, but it is a snowbird area, so once Easter comes, every leaves, mass evacuation. It is so part time, that a lot of businesses are only open Nov. to April. We have spring training, which left this year permanently, and aviation at a private airport. (Arizona is cheaper) And the banks were bought out by Canada.
I am hoping and praying for something soon.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 17, 2008 9:57 PM

/random...noticed on Condrey's roster photo on Gameday that he's one day older than JD, one day younger than Papi, three days younger than Lugo.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 17, 2008 9:58 PM

Karen, that definitely sucks. Is commuting or relocation an option?

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 17, 2008 10:00 PM

Jacoby. you rascal!

And the Celts are up 38-29 at 6:25, 2nd.

[ EricaC ] says:
on June 17, 2008 10:00 PM

Go Celtics! Go Red Sox!

Boo to Ellsbury getting caught stealing 3rd!

[ Karen ] says:
on June 17, 2008 10:02 PM

The job I am hoping for is a 70mi each way commute, but the pay would be worth it, so yeah commuting is the only option for now. Once I am financially good, I am looking into Georgia, or Mississippi. I would love to come back to New England, just too pricey for me.

[ Karen ] says:
on June 17, 2008 10:03 PM

There's my man.

[ Liza ] says:
on June 17, 2008 10:03 PM

As I was studying, Casey stole a base and Jacoby got caught stealing. What is this?

SHIPPING UP TO BOSTON WAAAAYOOOOOOOOO

[ EricaC ] says:
on June 17, 2008 10:04 PM

Welcome to interleague play... where apparently anything can happen

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 17, 2008 10:05 PM

I can relate on the pricey, Karen. There's a big part of me that would like to leave NC in the next few years, and much as I would love to go home to the Northeast, I just don't see how I can afford it.

[ Liza ] says:
on June 17, 2008 10:06 PM

Coco finds power, Casey steals, Jacoby gets caught, Okie has a clean inning... you're right, Erica. :P

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 17, 2008 10:06 PM

Liza, you *still* have finals? I thought today was it. :-(

[ Liza ] says:
on June 17, 2008 10:08 PM

Oh, not at all. Today was the first two, and they were the easy subjects (English and Spanish). I have two more tomorrow (bio and math) and one more on Thursday (history).

/I'm sure you all needed to know that

Anyway, Pap rules my world.

[ EricaC ] says:
on June 17, 2008 10:08 PM

C'mon Pap! One more!!! (fingers crossed)

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 17, 2008 10:09 PM

Actually, I'm interested, Liza. Good luck!

Pap rocks!

[ EricaC ] says:
on June 17, 2008 10:10 PM

Ugh Liza, bio and math in one day? That's rough

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 17, 2008 10:10 PM

Celtics by 13...

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 17, 2008 10:10 PM

YEAH!!!

[ Liza ] says:
on June 17, 2008 10:11 PM

Yeah, bio and math. I'm not at all worried about math (it's just algebra 2), but I do wish I had my own personal Chris Carter to help me study for bio. :)

And... game! Yeah Paps!

[ EricaC ] says:
on June 17, 2008 10:11 PM

GAME!!

[ Karen ] says:
on June 17, 2008 10:12 PM

Very good Ending. Last view of Pappy, Tek, and Beckett. Sweet Dreams tonight.

[ EricaC ] says:
on June 17, 2008 10:12 PM

Don't we all Liza? LOL!

Anyways, I'm off to bed... Have a good night all! Good luck tomorrow Liza!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 17, 2008 10:13 PM

Great job by all!

Now if only tomorrow weren't a day game...I won't really see folks until Friday. :-( But I'll check in here during the game, of course...

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 17, 2008 10:13 PM

Awww, Karen, enjoy your dreams! I'm headed to bed shortly too. Really tired!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on June 17, 2008 10:14 PM

Oh yeah...BEAT L.A.!

[ Karen ] says:
on June 17, 2008 10:15 PM

Ah, I miss school, beats real life. Chemistry and Math were my favorite subjects.

[ Liza ] says:
on June 17, 2008 10:15 PM

I'm actually happy about the day game--I get out at noon because of exams, so that's just fine with me!

BEAT LA!

[ Jane ] says:
on June 17, 2008 10:51 PM

I missed the live thread. So I'm posting my desperate plea right here.

Does anyone, ANYONE want to hook a gal up by posting pictures of Jonny Boy in a batting helmet? Anyone? Bueller?

I need that in my life. Please help a needy fan. She'll give you a cookie.

[ fc ] says:
on June 17, 2008 11:38 PM

I will be observing Radio Silence during the day game as I think NESN will rebroadcast it in its entirety at night. Anyone on my staff who gives spoilers will be fired.
On Friday Iand Monday 'm at Fenway, will probably try for day-of-game tix for the rest of the homestand. See y'all when we hit the road again.
T minus 4:30 till BEAT LA.
