Clay Is Like A Virgin

Dustin Pedroia got the Pop Culture Grid treatment from Sports Illustrated last year (in which we learned that he can't read), and recently it was Clay Buchholz's turn.

Fun fact #1: the guy who is currently bonking a Penthouse Pet loves "Like A Virgin". Of course he does.

Fun fact #2: he has never ridden a mechanical bull. A Texan who has never ridden a mechanical bull? For shame, Clay!

Fun fact #3: he wants to take on teammate Dustin Pedroia in the ring. What kind of ring is not specified... boxing? WWF? jello wrestling? I don't know, Clay- I've seen the damage he can inflict on bats and pinatas. He may be short, but he's scrappy.

This also presents the perfect opportunity to dig into the SI Vault and examine some other Sox'ers who have been Pop Culture Gridded.

In Clay's defense, if my arm was potentially going to make me millions I would consider mechanical bulls "too intense" as well.

Jules, agreed. SI also did a column about the presidential race from the point of view of athletes a while ago and a lot of the athletes were convinced Obama was Muslim and therefore wouldn't vote for him.

But away from politics--I still can't believe Clay hasn't ridden a mechanical bull. I very nearly did a year ago, but they shut it down right before my turn!

Pedroia is all about going for the knees - he has that low center of gravity going for him and he'll lay out Beanpole in the time it takes Jacoby to get to 2nd.

also - do we know if Buchholz is still banging the pet? seems like a long-term...petting. (zing!)
