In the hoopla that's sure to surround tonight's epic Jerry Remy Day festival and extravaganza on NESN, Baseball Musings posted a wee bit of gossip about potential strife behind the scenes with the crew:
Interesting. A "friend with NESN connections" is not exactly a rock solid source, and I've not detected any kind of different atmosphere in the broadcast booth over the last couple of months- but then again, I can sometimes be oblivious to that kind of thing. The rumblings of disatisfaction about Heidi's on-air stumbles (and her not-so-squeaky clean resume) have been steadily growing in Sox-dom for awhile... so if Remy's unhappy with her, he's not alone.Lately, however, I've detected a certain amount of tension in the booth. I thought that maybe the relationship between Don Orsillo and Remy was fraying, but a friend of mine with NESN connnections says that Jerry is upset about the hiring of Heidi Watney. According to my sourse, Heidi knows nothing about baseball. From what I've seen during telecasts, she just introduces taped pieces, which either Don or Jerry could do just as well.
Heidi definitely seems nice enough, and very enthusiastic- but I'd rather have someone like Amalie Benjamin, a woman who knows her shit inside and out, than a pretty face who has no real proven track record of baseball knowledge doing the "sideline" reporting. Then again, as a female, I don't think I'm NESN's target market when selecting someone to fill that role.
EDIT: To clarify that I have no reason to doubt the veracity of the source quoted in the linked post. I certainly wouldn't have posted it here if I didn't trust Baseball Musings. I only qualified the report because I do not personally know the source, nor can I verify his/her creds. Carry on.

I haven't really noticed anything up there either. Amalie would definitely bring a good angle to the job but I wouldn't think she'd want to leave the Globe.
