Just leaving work...hope to hang out with all you good folks after awhile if my computer behaves!

Go Stickbug and Go Sox! ;D

[ Erin ] says:
on July 29, 2008 7:03 PM

I wonder what kind of Trade the Sox might make

[ Bethie ] says:
on July 29, 2008 7:04 PM

Hello all!

Praying that we don't have a repeat of pitcher implosion tonight.

C'mon Clay!!

[ Jessi ] says:
on July 29, 2008 7:06 PM

Hey everyone! I haven't been on due to the games being on my real tv. But now I'm back on mlbtv.com and here!

Go Sox!

[ Jessi ] says:
on July 29, 2008 7:07 PM

PS Totally not happy about Tex getting traded to the Angels. They're already good, and now better with him.

[ Liza ] says:
on July 29, 2008 7:08 PM

I'm not going to pretend the Angels don't scare me already... but plus Teixeira? Yeah. That's mildly terrifying.

Also, that new bullpen routine is totally working out for Clay.

[ Jessi ] says:
on July 29, 2008 7:09 PM

Yay Klay!

[ Bethie ] says:
on July 29, 2008 7:09 PM

K, Buck. We need more innings like that!

[ Karen ] says:
on July 29, 2008 7:13 PM

So happy to be here. Was supposed to be at work, but here due to a fridge issue.

[ Jessi ] says:
on July 29, 2008 7:15 PM

I'm also watching the Yanks game - Orioles up by 1 in the first =]

[ Erin ] says:
on July 29, 2008 7:20 PM

Who's pitching tonight for the Yanks?

[ Jessi ] says:
on July 29, 2008 7:21 PM

Rasner - gave up three hits and a walk, but Orioles only managed one run.

[ Liza ] says:
on July 29, 2008 7:23 PM

Manny has a .494 OBP in July, which leads the majors.

Oh, yeah, he's toootally telling the management to suck it.

[ Erin ] says:
on July 29, 2008 7:23 PM

Well at least its a lead for the Orioles.

[ fc ] says:
on July 29, 2008 7:25 PM

Hi folks, I'm hanging here, just nothing much to say yet.

[ Anonymous ] says:
on July 29, 2008 7:26 PM

Yea too bad Cabrera pitching for the birds. I believe he leads the AL in walks, HBPs, and wild pitches.

[ Erin ] says:
on July 29, 2008 7:28 PM

Cabrera is pitching? Maybe he'll have a good night

[ Jessi ] says:
on July 29, 2008 7:30 PM

I hope so Erin! He got through the first inning.

[ Liza ] says:
on July 29, 2008 7:31 PM

Is it just me or is John Farrell a genius?

[ Jessi ] says:
on July 29, 2008 7:32 PM

I would say yes, but I'm gonna wait til the end of the game. No jinxing!

However those first two innings were rather nice.

[ Erin ] says:
on July 29, 2008 7:32 PM

This might be a dumb question but how dose one chart pitches?

Is it keeping track on what everyone is pitching during the game?

[ fc ] says:
on July 29, 2008 7:33 PM

I'm so glad Farrell didn't get lured away.

[ Jessi ] says:
on July 29, 2008 7:38 PM

Crap.

[ fc ] says:
on July 29, 2008 7:39 PM

OK, wtf is this?

[ Erin ] says:
on July 29, 2008 7:39 PM

Come on Clay.

[ Liza ] says:
on July 29, 2008 7:40 PM

Erin, I could be completely wrong, but I believe it's when one keeps track of what type of pitches are thrown, in what counts, how fast they are, and where they end up for each batter. Basically, compiling scouting reports.

Farrell, work your magic here.

[ Jessi ] says:
on July 29, 2008 7:41 PM

An error by Mikey and another not by Lugo...weird.

[ Liza ] says:
on July 29, 2008 7:42 PM

Eric Hinske (!) hit an inside-the-park home run (!!) in Toronto.

That just makes no sense to me.

Also, Clay? Throw a strike.

[ Erin ] says:
on July 29, 2008 7:42 PM

WTF?

[ Liza ] says:
on July 29, 2008 7:43 PM

And by "a strike," I meant "a bunch of strikes, all in succession."

[ Jessi ] says:
on July 29, 2008 7:43 PM

I strongly dislike the Angels.

[ Erin ] says:
on July 29, 2008 7:44 PM

Glad thats over.

[ Liza ] says:
on July 29, 2008 7:44 PM

I strongly like our infield, though, Jessi.

[ Jessin ] says:
on July 29, 2008 7:45 PM

I strongly like DPs Liza =]

Ok, that could've been a lot worse.

[ jules ] says:
on July 29, 2008 7:48 PM

Hey y'all!

Was that a fugly inning. Yikes. Glad we turned the DP, could've been a lot worse.

I was surprised to hear that the Angels got Teixeira. Maybe disappointed is a better word. That all but guarantees that Manny is here for the rest of the season.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 29, 2008 7:49 PM

Hey, is anyone else on audio having difficulty accessing WRKO?

[ Liza ] says:
on July 29, 2008 7:53 PM

I am not impressed with our shortstop's defense tonight. And it's not Julio Lugo.

[ Erin ] says:
on July 29, 2008 7:53 PM

Aww Clay

[ Jessi ] says:
on July 29, 2008 7:54 PM

I think we might've jinxed something...

[ Bethie ] says:
on July 29, 2008 7:54 PM

FAN-FUCKING-TASTIC

That's what that was!

[ Piney61 ] says:
on July 29, 2008 7:54 PM

And this, ladies and gentlemen, is why Cora is only really good at 2B.

[ Liza ] says:
on July 29, 2008 7:54 PM

Aw shit.

[ Ian ] says:
on July 29, 2008 7:55 PM
Hi folks, I'm hanging here, just nothing much to say yet.

what's what wrong with that sentence??

[ jules ] says:
on July 29, 2008 7:56 PM

what the...I leave to room for a moment to come back to a 4-0 game?

[ Liza ] says:
on July 29, 2008 7:57 PM

KKlay's definitely relying on his defense today.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 29, 2008 7:58 PM

I don't have much to say yet either. Wish I could get the audio going. :(

[ Liza ] says:
on July 29, 2008 7:59 PM

**And that's not helping him.

Forgot to add that part before pressing Post. Because I'm smart like that.

[ jules ] says:
on July 29, 2008 7:59 PM

ecl, you're not missing much. ugh.

[ fc ] says:
on July 29, 2008 8:00 PM

Ian, would you prefer it if I'd said "I've been lurking but this is notice that I'm here so don't be surprised if I suddenly mock you"? / Taking pavlovian bate to respond

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 29, 2008 8:01 PM

Phew...we have sound. I don't like this score. C'mon bats...

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 29, 2008 8:05 PM

Jules, yes, I see that I'm not missing much. Glad I didn't skimp on my errands on the way home...

[ Jessi ] says:
on July 29, 2008 8:05 PM

This just in: the Red Sox are being NO-HIT

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on July 29, 2008 8:05 PM

Duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuude.

This suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuucks.

[ Jessi ] says:
on July 29, 2008 8:07 PM

These fly outs suck.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 29, 2008 8:10 PM

Jessi, YES! Good idea -- time to start jinxing the opposing pitcher!

[ Erin ] says:
on July 29, 2008 8:11 PM

Don seems to be trying to jinx him.

[ Jessi ] says:
on July 29, 2008 8:12 PM

Kevin Millar just hit a HR against the Yanks! (He also had one last night)

[ Jessi ] says:
on July 29, 2008 8:14 PM

Tek!

[ Jessi ] says:
on July 29, 2008 8:16 PM

Ok guys, remember, the Sox do not have a hit. I repeat, there is potential for a no-hitter to occur.

[ Erin ] says:
on July 29, 2008 8:19 PM

Arrg! Someone get a hit!

[ Jessi ] says:
on July 29, 2008 8:20 PM

Please do not tell me that was really a 5-pitch inning.

[ Liza ] says:
on July 29, 2008 8:20 PM

Of course I want the bats to wake up, but I don't like jinxing anyone when they're throwing a big game.

That said, I WANT RUNS, SOX.

[ Angie ] says:
on July 29, 2008 8:21 PM

Haha Jerry Remy "peaked in little league" pleaseee someone get a hit at least!

[ Gisela ] says:
on July 29, 2008 8:22 PM

Okay since no one saw my late night post from the Yankee win here it is again (added some excitement to it):

[ Gisela ] says:
on July 28, 2008 12:30 AM

Hi everyone! I'm a spanking newbie here just wanted to say hi, show myself and that I love the site! Awesome game tonight, and found the similarities between Giambi's pornstache and this dudes uncanny:

http://ruthlessreviews.com/pics2/natsec3.jpg

:)

[ Bethie ] says:
on July 29, 2008 8:22 PM

Is it terrible that they are re-airing the Home Run Derby on ESPN 2 and I'm tempted to watch it?

*hangs head in shame*

[ Liza ] says:
on July 29, 2008 8:23 PM

I love Jacoby Ellsbury.

[ Jessi ] says:
on July 29, 2008 8:24 PM

Hey Gisela, welcome. But, I have to ask, are you actually watching this game? I can't find anything "awesome" about it.

Jacoby!!!

[ Liza ] says:
on July 29, 2008 8:24 PM

Also, Gisela, the resemblance is quite striking.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 29, 2008 8:24 PM

I'm starting to wish I had gone for the full-blown errands...needed to do my grocery shopping but put it off to come home for the game.

Lovely catch, Ells!

[ Erin ] says:
on July 29, 2008 8:25 PM

Can someone please get a hit?

[ fc ] says:
on July 29, 2008 8:26 PM

ecl, everyone knows that Thursdays are grocery days.

Gotta stand by the boys even when they're down. Especially when they're down.

[ Jessi ] says:
on July 29, 2008 8:26 PM

I am begging for a hit. Even a bloop single. Just give me something.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 29, 2008 8:28 PM

Unfortunately, fc, the groceries can't wait until Thursday, but I'll be heading that way at 6:30 tomorrow so should only be a couple of innings late.

[ Erin ] says:
on July 29, 2008 8:29 PM

This is starting to piss me off.

[ Gisela ] says:
on July 29, 2008 8:29 PM

Crap I forgot to hit preview instead of post.

I think its adorable that Clay hangs out with Nolan Ryan's god daughter (shes actually older than Clay is so I think shes outgrown being a god daughter but yeah..

She lives right outside of Boston and I *think* her name is Janelle. I met her at Spring Training and there is nothing porn trash about her. FINALLY some class! :) She's at the game sitting over behind the visitors side dugout (hence why we always spot him looking over there ha ha) But yeah I know you guys don't care about that kinda stuff, but I get all girl in her 30's acting like a high school teeny. Just killing time between ads.

[ Liza ] says:
on July 29, 2008 8:31 PM

Baserunners = good. No matter how they get on.

[ Gisela ] says:
on July 29, 2008 8:31 PM

Jessi I copied & pasted my post from the Yankees game the other night since no one got to see it (it was the last entry of the post, I was a day late dollar short!) Sorry for the confusion! :)

[ Gisela ] says:
on July 29, 2008 8:33 PM

Liza the face expression could EASILY be imitated by Giams

[ Liza ] says:
on July 29, 2008 8:33 PM

Running up Lackey's pitch count = also good.

[ Jessi ] says:
on July 29, 2008 8:33 PM

Don't worry about it Gisela. No problem =]

God damn it - get a hit! It's your jobs!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 29, 2008 8:35 PM

Gisela, fear not, we have our fangirl moments here!

[ Erin ] says:
on July 29, 2008 8:35 PM

FUCK.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 29, 2008 8:35 PM

)_(*&^%$#%^&*

@@

dammit

[ Jessi ] says:
on July 29, 2008 8:36 PM

This sucks. How can this line-up not have a single hit. Especially by a guy who knocked around by the Indians?!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 29, 2008 8:36 PM

Hey...there's this guy named Lackey who is currently throwing a NO HITTER! How 'bout that?

[ Jessi ] says:
on July 29, 2008 8:39 PM

NO-HITTER. NO-HITTER. NO-HITTER. NO-HITTER.

Gee, I wish I could see another NO-HITTER tonight.

[ Abby ] says:
on July 29, 2008 8:39 PM

The Sox are being no-hit? Come on, boys. Let's get a few.

[ Abby ] says:
on July 29, 2008 8:40 PM

I knew I could count on you guys for some superstition-bashing!

[ Liza ] says:
on July 29, 2008 8:41 PM

Like I said... I don't like jinxing anyone if they're in the middle of a big game. No matter which team they're on.

Frick, Drew.

[ fc ] says:
on July 29, 2008 8:41 PM

this sucks

[ Erin ] says:
on July 29, 2008 8:42 PM

I just want the Sox to get a hit.

[ fc ] says:
on July 29, 2008 8:42 PM

Liza, you don't want to jinx our opponent?
I cannot comprehend.

[ Jessi ] says:
on July 29, 2008 8:43 PM

I went into this game not expecting the win, but being NO-HIT?!

[ Liza ] says:
on July 29, 2008 8:43 PM

I don't want to jinx anyone. If someone's throwing what could end up being the game of their life, I don't want to make it worse for them.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 29, 2008 8:44 PM

Messy finger food time...will be quiet for awhile...

[ Abby ] says:
on July 29, 2008 8:44 PM

This game is sad. I'm half tempted to switch over to Shark Week.

[ fc ] says:
on July 29, 2008 8:44 PM

No-hit this, Lackey!
jinx jinx double jinx

[ Liza ] says:
on July 29, 2008 8:45 PM

Bye-bye Buch. Maybe our bats can salvage a ND for you.

[ Erin ] says:
on July 29, 2008 8:45 PM

This game makes me a Sad Panda.

[ Gisela ] says:
on July 29, 2008 8:46 PM

Mother of ass....WHY does Guerrero always look like hes in excruciating PAIN! I feel like hes going to drop at any second. Doesn't matter, he can suck my butt :)

I had a pondering thought today. Why don't we bring Kevin Millar back. (Don't start swignin' at me yet. My reason: I like his attitude. Maybe because its like mine?!) ha ha

[ Jessi ] says:
on July 29, 2008 8:46 PM

Liza - if it was anyone else, I'd be rooting for the pitcher. Even a Yankee guy (well except for Joba, I do hate him dearly). But this is making us look horrible. And it will be over the news for the next week or so. And my Yankee-fan friends will never let me forget it.

[ Bethie ] says:
on July 29, 2008 8:47 PM

Uh oh. Here comes Hansen.

Wonder which version we will get tonight.

[ Abby ] says:
on July 29, 2008 8:48 PM

I adore Kevin Millar! I don't know where we'd put him right now though, but he's a great presence on a team

[ Abby ] says:
on July 29, 2008 8:49 PM

Ouch, please forgive the lack of a period on that last sentence.

[ Bethie ] says:
on July 29, 2008 8:49 PM

Clay needs a hug.

[ Jessi ] says:
on July 29, 2008 8:50 PM

Gisela - uh two things:

-We already have a great first baseman, Youk.
-Millar is slow and can't really hit.

I HATE ARod, it seems like whenever I watch a Yankee game, he hits a homerun.

[ fc ] says:
on July 29, 2008 8:51 PM

They were looking for another guy to play Wally. Millar's a natural.

[ Liza ] says:
on July 29, 2008 8:51 PM

Of course it'll be all over the news. But I don't care if it means a big game for someone.

[ Jessi ] says:
on July 29, 2008 8:52 PM

Haha fc, I would love to see Millar play Wally. Either that or do a show with Pap.

[ Abby ] says:
on July 29, 2008 8:54 PM

Jessi, have you seen the video clip of Pap interviewing Millar last year?

[ Erin ] says:
on July 29, 2008 8:56 PM

Please someone get a hit?

[ Jessi ] says:
on July 29, 2008 8:56 PM

Haha yes I did Abby and thought it was great.

I couldn't care less if we lose this game 10-0, I just want a HIT. Come on guys!

[ Jessi ] says:
on July 29, 2008 8:58 PM

DAMN IT!!!

These fly outs keep giving me hope, but they never land.

[ fc ] says:
on July 29, 2008 8:58 PM

Dear Red Sox,

I have a request. On the weekend, I slipped and went down hard on one knee on concrete. I now have a giant throbbing knee that is 18 shades of purple.

I would one of you, anyone, to take a good square swing into my smashed-up knee with one of those cylindrical wood objects you have there, so that I would NO LONGER BE ABLE TO PAY ATTENTION TO THIS GAME.

Your Friend,
fc

[ Jessi ] says:
on July 29, 2008 9:00 PM

#@%$$@%@$^

[ Erin ] says:
on July 29, 2008 9:01 PM

This game is really pissing me off now.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 29, 2008 9:03 PM

fc, looks like Papi could have helped you out, but alas, he's back in the dugout and is unavailable. :(

[ Jessi ] says:
on July 29, 2008 9:05 PM

From Wikipedia:
"On July 7, 2006, Lackey retired 27 batters in a row after Mark Kotsay of the Oakland Athletics led off the first inning with double, coming within one out of a perfect game"

With that sucky luck, I would feel a little less horrible if the Sox get NO-HIT.

[ Ian ] says:
on July 29, 2008 9:07 PM

i feel a hit this inning

[ Jessi ] says:
on July 29, 2008 9:09 PM

The Yanks new pitcher - Marte - has given up four runs w/ no outs and is being booed at Yankee Stadium.

[ Erin ] says:
on July 29, 2008 9:09 PM

At least the Yanks are losing

[ Ian ] says:
on July 29, 2008 9:10 PM

it doesn't matter what the Yankees are doing. they aren't in first place.

the rays are and they are winning 3-0 in the 8th.

[ Erin ] says:
on July 29, 2008 9:12 PM

Thats true but it would also be much better if the Rays were losing as well.

[ Jessi ] says:
on July 29, 2008 9:12 PM

The Yanks were just riding an 8-game winning streak. I doubt the Rays wil be there in the end. The Yanks will - especially since our last series is with them.

[ Lindsay ] says:
on July 29, 2008 9:13 PM

Hi everyone...i would put an exclamation point but it wouldnt fit my current mood...

[ Lindsay ] says:
on July 29, 2008 9:13 PM

I'm so friggin happy that fenway booed Manny...he deserved it. He shouldve been running full speed. Not jogging to first...grrr

[ fc ] says:
on July 29, 2008 9:14 PM

You don't boo your own.

[ Erin ] says:
on July 29, 2008 9:15 PM

I like the silent treatment myself.

[ Ian ] says:
on July 29, 2008 9:15 PM

I'm going to correct myself.

You do need to worry about what the Yankees are doign but also the Twins since both teams are 2 games behind the Red Sox in the wild card.

So I do apologize.

[ Jessi ] says:
on July 29, 2008 9:15 PM

Ok, now I'm rooting for the no-hitter. We're gonna lose anyway. A loss is a loss. To see a no-hitter lost in the 9th would be just as bad as being no-hit.

Paps =]

[ Lindsay ] says:
on July 29, 2008 9:16 PM

Not necessarily Jessi. The Sox have had some huge comebacks in the 9th...

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 29, 2008 9:16 PM

You've got a point there, Jessi. I guess I concede to the impending no hitter. :::sigh:::

[ Lindsay ] says:
on July 29, 2008 9:17 PM

At this point i dont really care about the win...i just want a hit...if we get a win them of course thats always a plus.

[ Ian ] says:
on July 29, 2008 9:17 PM

Never concede. Haven't we learned this year that this Red Sox team can come back from any deficit.

[ Ian ] says:
on July 29, 2008 9:18 PM

Giving up like that is like saying you're going to fail a test before you even get in there.

[ Jessi ] says:
on July 29, 2008 9:18 PM

I'm sry, but there is no way the Angels are going to let 7 runs in one inning. There bullpen is great, if he gives up a few runs they would just plug in another guy. We have two no-hitters in the past year, so I can root for the other team.

[ Ian ] says:
on July 29, 2008 9:18 PM

I also feel fc about to blow up at those statements unless she's biting her tongue.

[ Jessi ] says:
on July 29, 2008 9:19 PM

*Their bullpen

[ Ian ] says:
on July 29, 2008 9:19 PM

A TRUE RED SOX FAN NEVER GIVES UP!

[ Lindsay ] says:
on July 29, 2008 9:19 PM

I guess Ishouldnt be selfish. I guess i'll try to be happy for the Angels if they do get a no hitter...

[ Lindsay ] says:
on July 29, 2008 9:20 PM

But as a Sox fan, I'm still hoping that that doest happen.

[ Jessi ] says:
on July 29, 2008 9:20 PM

I'm not giving up, but I honestly want to see a no-hitter. It's a great thing for any pitcher. And it's no different than losing 10-9.

[ Liza ] says:
on July 29, 2008 9:21 PM

That's my mentality--great for him. I want a win, but if we have to lose, why not have it be extra good for the other guys?

[ Jessi ] says:
on July 29, 2008 9:21 PM

Haha Lackey looks like he's kinda looks like he's gonna be sick.

[ Lindsay ] says:
on July 29, 2008 9:21 PM

Funny thing is, I was supposed to be at this game.

I was bidding on a single ticket but I got outbid with 5 seconds left...

[ Jessi ] says:
on July 29, 2008 9:22 PM

Oh god, sry for that last comment. Re-type:

Haha Lackey looks like he is gonna be sick.

[ Erin ] says:
on July 29, 2008 9:22 PM

Nice of NESN to stay w/ the feed

[ Lindsay ] says:
on July 29, 2008 9:23 PM

I want to hear Don's reaction if a no no does occur. We're used to hearing him scream, but I want to see how he would react to this one.

[ Gisela ] says:
on July 29, 2008 9:23 PM

fc you hit the nail on the head actually:

http://baseballjobs.teamworkonline.com/teamwork/jobs/jobskey.cfm?s=Boston+Red+Sox#19197

I know hes major suckage hitting wise, however he did a bang up job last night!! He would just add to the entertainment while we all sit here seething/yelling at the tv/radio about this big ol fuckety mess of a game!

[ Lindsay ] says:
on July 29, 2008 9:24 PM

I'm scared.

[ Jessi ] says:
on July 29, 2008 9:24 PM

I'm looking for positive things right now:

Daniel freakin Cabrera has held the Yanks to one run over seven innings.

[ Lindsay ] says:

For Lackey. Because being a Sox fan, I know how intense this moment is.

[ fc ] says:

Point, Ian, for receiving nonverbal communication over the 'net. Although your comment blew the mood cause it made me smile.

But just so it doesn't go to waste:
Um, MOTHER'S DAY ring a bell?
2004 ALCS maybe?

You guys sound like the ^*#*# who take up box seats, then leave the park at times like this. Which is fine, cause then I get an upgrade.

I know a big comeback is a long shot but NEVER COUNT OUT THE SOX.

[ Jessi ] says:
on July 29, 2008 9:25 PM

I wonder what Lester is thinking about...

[ Liza ] says:
on July 29, 2008 9:25 PM

Exactly, Lindsay.

That's kind of been my mentality all night.

[ Liza ] says:
on July 29, 2008 9:26 PM

Oh well.

[ Erin ] says:
on July 29, 2008 9:26 PM

[ Jessi ] says:

I feel horrible for Lackey. Absolutely horrible.

[ Liza ] says:

[ Bethie ] says:

Hmmmm....that'll work.

[ Anonymous ] says:
on July 29, 2008 9:28 PM

You never, ever give up on a team.
You never, ever leave a game early.

That's lame - and, plus, you miss all the best parts if you do that.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 29, 2008 9:28 PM

Hmph, not just radio delay but slow connection. Nice goin' Youk!

[ Jessi ] says:
on July 29, 2008 9:28 PM

They're showing this on the YES network during the Yankee game.

[ Lindsay ] says:
on July 29, 2008 9:28 PM

i'm out of breath right now! i just screamed so loud! I feel like I did with Clay and Lester threw the no no.

Does that make me a bad person? lol

[ Gisela ] says:
on July 29, 2008 9:28 PM

Well sweet Jesus on a tricycle look at this!! Show of hands for those surprised at Petey & Youuuuuuuk! I'm pleased now. I don't care if we lose. I love when shit like this goes down. Its like porn to me! :)

[ Angie ] says:
on July 29, 2008 9:29 PM

yeaaa my man Pedroia! and YOOUUKKKK!

[ Ian ] says:
on July 29, 2008 9:29 PM

It's never a good thing to see Lackey pitch well at Fenway Park because that usually means bad things for the Red Sox.

by the way this is what I was writing when pleats got the hit.

[ Abby ] says:
on July 29, 2008 9:29 PM

A great game for Lackey. Poor guy. I was rooting against the nohitter, but that sucks.

[ Lindsay ] says:
on July 29, 2008 9:29 PM

Its like, you cant mess with the Red Sox.

You can no hit them for 8 and 1/3 but thats the best your gonna do.

[ Bethie ] says:
on July 29, 2008 9:30 PM

I got called a bitch at work today.

I get called lame here.

Yay me, I'm 2 for 2.

:D

K bats. We've started a rally. Let's see where we can go with it.

[ fc ] says:
on July 29, 2008 9:30 PM

Tell the truth: How many of you just yelled DROP IT!! with me.

[ Ian ] says:
on July 29, 2008 9:30 PM

I was just waiting for you to explode fc. In my mind, i could see the steam coming out of your ears going just one more comment and that's it.

[ Liza ] says:
on July 29, 2008 9:30 PM

Oh Ian.

I wanted him to get the no-no, because that's huge for anybody, but LET'S GO RED SOX now. :)

[ Jessi ] says:
on July 29, 2008 9:30 PM

At least we're going into tomorrow with some positive energy.

[ Lindsay ] says:
on July 29, 2008 9:30 PM

Ian! You should no better than to underestimate the Sox! =P

[ Gisela ] says:
on July 29, 2008 9:31 PM

Legit question. Explain 'Pleats' :)

[ Liza ] says:
on July 29, 2008 9:31 PM

Oh, I did, fc.

COME ON MANNY.

[ Lindsay ] says:
on July 29, 2008 9:32 PM

LETS GO RED SOX!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 29, 2008 9:32 PM

Oh no Bethie...you got called a bitch at work? Jobs are so lovely..

I'll let someone else explain Pleats to Gisela.

[ Ian ] says:
on July 29, 2008 9:32 PM

Lindsay, I never underestimated the Sox. And why would I ever. The post was written to try and help out the Red Sox.

[ fc ] says:
on July 29, 2008 9:33 PM

Ian didn't underestimate the Sox - he jinxed Lackey.

[ Jessi ] says:
on July 29, 2008 9:33 PM

I wonder how long they will let Lackey go...

[ Lindsay ] says:
on July 29, 2008 9:33 PM

Aww, i dont kind of feel bad for Lackey. He was so close!

I have sympathy for Angel fans though. Because I know that I would've been sooo upset if a Red Sox player lost the no no with 1 out in the 9th.

Then again, Sox fans know how that feels --> Schills last season.

But oh well. =P

[ Lindsay ] says:
on July 29, 2008 9:34 PM

very good point fc. I didnt think about that ;)

[ Lindsay ] says:
on July 29, 2008 9:34 PM

Sorry Ian, I didnt think of it like that.

=P

[ Ian ] says:
on July 29, 2008 9:34 PM

I worked in baseball for 9 years and have seen what happened more than a few times. There are just certain things you do when a no-hitter is happening against your team.

I never write game posts ahead of time because you never know what will happen.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 29, 2008 9:35 PM

Oh well, nice try at a comeback...

[ Kara ] says:
on July 29, 2008 9:35 PM

Was Schilling's almost no-hitter against the Angels last year?

[ Liza ] says:
on July 29, 2008 9:36 PM

Gisela, the first vid on this page should explain it.

Also, frick. Didn't get the W or the no-no. Oh well.

[ Liza ] says:
on July 29, 2008 9:36 PM

Kara, it was the A's. I believe.

[ Kara ] says:
on July 29, 2008 9:37 PM

Ah, ok, I couldn't remember. That would be pretty exciting if it had been then Angels though.

[ fc ] says:
on July 29, 2008 9:38 PM

I know a loss is a loss, but somehow that 9th helped this one go down easier. Certainly not the morale-killer it could have been.

Now, let's keep that rally going tomorrow when I will be there to scream at/for our boys until the final out, no matter what.

[ Gisela ] says:
on July 29, 2008 9:38 PM

Awww short version of what Pleats means :( its ok, Its only my first day. I feel I have to pass initiation or something next.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 29, 2008 9:38 PM

fc, I'm jealous -- have a great time!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 29, 2008 9:39 PM

Gisela, it had to do with pleated pants that he wore for some TV ad, I think.

[ Ian ] says:
on July 29, 2008 9:39 PM

look at the pleats in his pants in the video. hence the nickname pleats

[ Ian ] says:
on July 29, 2008 9:40 PM

Rays won 2-0.

[ Liza ] says:
on July 29, 2008 9:40 PM

It was originally "Pleats in Cleats," but was shortened to "Pleats."

[ Ian ] says:
on July 29, 2008 9:41 PM

correction 3-0.

[ Abby ] says:
on July 29, 2008 9:41 PM

Have a blast at the game tomorrow! We'll cross our fingers for you to see a win.

[ Gisela ] says:
on July 29, 2008 9:46 PM

Thank you Liza! :) Lucky for you all I am optimistic. But I do NOT look forward to Remdawg shitting on Buchhs. He's getting there. I was displeased with the way he ripped his ass open and poured acid in it he was so negative about him. For god sakes folks we cannot always win every game. Thats reality & apparently there are psychologists who offer treatment for out there. Yet I can never meet a guy who is intensely into baseball as I am.

There's always tomorrow! At last nights game I called Papelbon 'Papel-bun-in-the-oven' and got a big smirk out of him. This was BEFORE the Angels made sure we ATE IT though..

[ Gisela ] says:
on July 29, 2008 9:47 PM

And thank you ecl!

[ fc ] says:
on July 29, 2008 9:52 PM

Thanks for the good wishes, guys - for all of us!
I'll be the gimpy chick with steam coming out of her ears.
