No passing out in the fact I was tired from something. I must have had some bug or something because the past two nights between 7 & 8 i've just flat out crashed on my couch. last night i slept from whenever i made my last comment until about midnight. then i went to bed at 3 and slept until about 10.
Ian, you have no idea how glad I am to see you express your displeasure with the things being said on message boards/other sites. I'm very fond of Lugo despite his shortcomings and hearing the details about what happened last night (and reading the opinions of the haters) has been pretty painful for me.
I'm definitely not one of his biggest fans but whenever you say you're happy to see someone get hurt, is just plain wrong.
Now if they said something like I'm sad to see Lugo get hurt but now Lowrie has another chance to show the Red Sox what he can do, that's another story.
It's okay Ian. I never thought you were angry. But yes I've seen some of those messages about people being happy about Lugo being hurt and I'm annoyed at them as well
Ian, I just caught your comment about "all y'all." My all-time favorite in that department was when a Virginia-born friend of mine held up an object and said to me and my sister, "Is this y'allses?"
Well no, traditionally that song was written as "Oh Susannah"--but that makes it better, because if there's one thing she loves more than that song it is people spelling her name with an H.
Ian -- you know everything. Do you have any idea where there would be a "promo code" for the mlb.tv trial? I got my e-mail, logged in at the link, and it said my promo code had already been used. Funny thing is, there WAS no promo code in my e-mail or anywhere else.
It was suggested to me that I call their 800 # but I ran out of time today. And now I'm regretting it. I would have loved to see all those HRs.
Anyway, I was wondering if you have any idea about a quick fix so I can watch this game?
Ian! It worked -- thank you! Don't know why it didn't yesterday, but maybe I should just click on the media page and not worry about the e-mail, huh?
And you're nice looking...look like an ex-football player or something. For some reason I pictured you as having lighter hair, not that I'm complaining.
When Susanna and I went to a Celts game they put in Gabe towards the end of the game for a few minutes and he made this great dunk... when they replayed it on the Jumbotron you could see he had this HUGE grin on his face during the play and it was so so adorable.
So, in conclusion, Gabe Pruitt is the same height as Ian, and he got a championship ring and is really happy to play basketball.
Wow. How do we know whether our lineup is absolutely awesome or if their pitching sucks? I mean, I suspect it's a combination, but where is the line there?
it's ok susanna, it's not the prettiest looking ring. It's sitting on my dresser collecting dust.
I wonder if someone said something to them about interviewing people during the game because at least they're paying attention to the game a little more.
I hate how they always stand up when they interview people. And excuse my sister's redundancy...of COURSE he looks better in a Red Sox cap. Sam Cassell would look cute in a Red Sox hat...ok that might be pushing it but you know what I mean.
Ian- it is a good feeling because I work in quality improvement. So it is validation.
BUT those rankings are based on the flimsiest of criteria. Other people do better rankings, those matter more, but getting public appreciation is nice.
Ian, I have a wicked farmer's tan from softball and horseback riding. I have a really tan face and arms, but my legs are pitifully white. (It's what I get for playing the only two non-winter sports where you absolutely have to wear long pants...)
mhc: I think you have me mixed up with someone else. Is the Dana in Boston? My closest medical connection in Boston is a friend's husband who did a residency in immunology at either Deaconness or Brigham (?) in the mid 80s.
once it was somewhat warm enough, i wore shorts. so i had nice tan legs with white feet.
when i was in hawaii, i was walking on the beach at Pipeline on the North Shore and ended up with severe sunburn just on my feet. I had to wear socks at the beach the rest of the week.
They should hire Millar right now to work with NESN. He's hitting under .240 so he wont be missed, and his contract is up this year haha. They could just use him and Eck as the analysts, it would be fantastic
The Paps and Millar Show? That would be totally awesome.
Of course, between the random nudity, drunkenness, and silly pranks that would surely be featured, it'd be tough to figure out how long the show'd last before the FCC would force NESN to take it off the air. . . .
The Paps and Millar should be a talk show of sorts where they have random guests. Millar would be the Ed McMahon to Paps' Johnny Carson. And one of their gimmicks will definitely be "Sexiest Pitcher and Sexiest Hitter TallyFest" where each guest is asked that question
Also I dunno if this'll be the greatest thing ever or the worst thing ever but Papi and DMC from Run DMC are possibly collaborating on a Rap
mh, so you do CQI stuff? We're big on that where I work, as it's a teaching practice. And I just found your list. #8, eh? I'll have to ask my friend exactly which hospital her husband trained at...I used to know but it's been so long. He ended up going into research. And my friend was the lab director at Biogen for a long time...took a midlife retirement and lives a life of leisure, partly in Boston.
And ecl, yeah, I worked for a few years with an internal consulting group that organized and ran all those quality improvement projects. I love that stuff.
I do some CQI entries in the EMR (Misys) as a part of my job, mh. There's a million fields to deal with because The Powers That Be are so thorough, but thankfully I have a cheat sheet!
Ian, before I tuned in to mlb.tv, WRKO was talking about Dickie V and the Rays, so I don't doubt his love of the game. It's just funny to see him somewhere other than in a basketball setting.
my hospital has largely abandoned CQI in favor of Lean, since it is really much simpler and anyone can participate, you know, orderlies able to make changes in the system to make it run more smoothly.
a lot of people have been traumatized by badly-run quality improvement projects, so they get a bad rap for just being extra work-- but when you have groups like mine to help who aren't outsiders it can make it really a lot better.
Susanna and I have BIG FIGHTS during Celtics games (and Pats too, if I recall) because she has all these freaking stupid-ass superstitions. It's a sensitive subject in our household.
One of my friends was at Game On last year sometime (September ish) and Kielty and some other players were there. Kielty was drunk off his ass and kept saying how the whole team hated JD Drew and he was going to win the right field job from him. I thought it was pretty hilarious when I found out. It's too bad he got released
Oh I know Ian. I just wish Moss could have more chances to play - he seems like he could turn out to be a very good hitter (something that Crisp is not).
That was a very good game. Off to bed, gotta work early in the morning. Game will be taping for when I get home. I won't be online again during a game until the All-Star.
Aw shucks, Ian. I was wondering, now that the screen has gone silent. (snaps fingers in annoyance). But it's all good. And I'll be following it here rather than my cable tomorrow unless it's blacked out on mlb.tv. :D

let's see if i can make it the whole game without passing out
