Mostly just watching TV tonight, y'all...have to get up super early in the morning so can't stay up late after the game, either. I will check in at some point a bit later, though...

Have fun and GO SOX!

[ Danielle ] says:
on July 2, 2008 7:07 PM

Hi everyone! Hope everyone had a great day.

I'm glad I'm not sitting with the cowbells tonight!
It's time for the bats to wake up

Go Sox!

[ fc ] says:

ecl needs to join the 21st century & combine the computer & tv experience.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 2, 2008 7:12 PM

fc, I'm still here...how would I do that? Buy a MLB.tv subscription? Or get a laptop or bring it into the bedroom? I don't know other ways to do that, so you'll have to enlighten me (you're welcome to add a comment over at my LJ if you don't want to clutter up the thread).

[ fc ] says:
on July 2, 2008 7:12 PM

Laptop, ecl. And you know I kid because I love, right?

[ fc ] says:
on July 2, 2008 7:13 PM

And, HOT SHIT Pedey!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 2, 2008 7:13 PM

Yeah Pedey!

P.S. to fc...I can't afford a laptop, if that's what you had in mind...took me a couple of years to scrape up the funds for this desktop.

[ Danielle ] says:
on July 2, 2008 7:14 PM

Pleats you were supposed to do that last night when I was there!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 2, 2008 7:15 PM

Whoops, sorry fc, didn't know you were kidding! I had an incredibly intense day at work and my head is still spinning to the point where I'm not thinking straight or humorously. I need a beer, obviously. And thanks for the love, BTW!

[ fc ] says:
on July 2, 2008 7:15 PM

Oops, sorry ecl. Just hoping for your company during the game.

[ fc ] says:
on July 2, 2008 7:17 PM

5 minutes into the game and we've already had an affront and an apology. Like I always said, it's not a prty till someone gets hurt!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 2, 2008 7:18 PM

My goodness, fc's an ecl fan, or something like that! ;-)

I'm pretty good at running back and forth in between innings. Gotta fix din-din anyway so will be in close proximity to the 'puter for awhile here.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 2, 2008 7:20 PM

No affront, fc...on top of being tired and frazzled, I simply don't "get" humor most of the time. Has to do with a brain quirk that I'm saddled with. I forget, are you medical? If so, I inherited a few traits from my dad, who had Asperger. Makes for lots of social fun, not. I will say this, though...hanging out here is great bantering practice! I'm actually improving in that regard in my day to day life.

[ fc ] says:
on July 2, 2008 7:23 PM

While I may be cited in several medical studies, I'm not medical by trade.

And I'm a sucker for anyone who will talk to me.

[ Bethie ] says:
on July 2, 2008 7:24 PM

Howdy peoples! Just popping in to say hi. I'm not very good company today, but hope you all have a blast and enjoy the game. Pedey wants us to be happy! :)

GO SOX!!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 2, 2008 7:28 PM

Bethie! You had a rough day too? Hope the leg is better today.

Ha ha, fc...I must have gotten you mixed up with someone else here.

I hate Longoria. And WTF is the matter w/Dice-K?

[ fc ] says:
on July 2, 2008 7:29 PM

C'mon, Dice-k, keep it together. Please.

[ Danielle ] says:
on July 2, 2008 7:29 PM

ecl, you probably thought of me - nursing student

Dice just find the strike zone

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 2, 2008 7:32 PM

Ah...Danielle, that's right. Or mhcranberry, with an MPH.

Dice is a mess tonight.

[ Danielle ] says:
on July 2, 2008 7:35 PM

Thank you Drew for ending that inning!

If Longoria had any change of me liking him, it ended when the Rays broadcasters compared him to A-Rod

[ fc ] says:
on July 2, 2008 7:37 PM

I passed along the namecheck to mhcranberry - she says "hello from the goddamn cubicle farm" (working late)

[ jules ] says:
on July 2, 2008 7:38 PM

Hey y'all!

I'll join the "had a SUCKY day" crowd here. I love how management thinks I can work 12 hours a day regularly yet think what I do is easy. Kiss it.

Pleats: great!
Dice: ugh.

[ Piney61 ] says:
on July 2, 2008 7:40 PM

I don't trust Tek in the clutch....

*I wonder if this'll work again even if it is true*

[ jules ] says:
on July 2, 2008 7:40 PM

Gotta run. Hubby and I are going golf club shopping. Yes, like I needed a new obsession ;-).

[ Danielle ] says:
on July 2, 2008 7:42 PM

If only it would, Piney!

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on July 2, 2008 7:43 PM

I actually get to check in on the game thread tonight! Whee!

[ fc ] says:
on July 2, 2008 7:44 PM

YEAH YEAS MOSSY YOUK YAY YEAH

[ fc ] says:
on July 2, 2008 7:45 PM

(A little starved for something positive)

[ Erin ] says:
on July 2, 2008 7:46 PM

Hello all! Sorry I'm late I was having dinner with my family.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on July 2, 2008 7:46 PM

Did you know: Lugo's OBP is higher than Ellsbury's? And Varitek's?

[ fc ] says:
on July 2, 2008 7:47 PM

I believe we may have the textbook definition of "damning with faint praise."

[ Danielle ] says:
on July 2, 2008 7:47 PM

The Rays broadcasters called Lugo "pesky" when he has two strikes on him ... haha

[ Karen ] says:
on July 2, 2008 7:47 PM

Just got home from work. So tired, but so happy to be working. I'm glad it's on tv, so I don't have to switch back and forth online.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on July 2, 2008 7:48 PM

And Big Papi. And Dustin Pedroia. And Coco Crisp.

NOT NOW, THOUGH.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 2, 2008 7:51 PM

fc, you can pass along to mhc that 'twill be I in the goddamn cubile farm tomorrow...not sure what time I'll actually get home. I'm taking a four-day weekend, though, so the homecoming will be oh so sweet.

Danielle, Lugo makes me laugh with his peskiness. He gave it a good try that last time around. Wish it had borne fruit.

[ fc ] says:
on July 2, 2008 7:51 PM

Papi with a bat.
Nice to see.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 2, 2008 7:51 PM

*cubicle

(hates typos)

[ Erin ] says:
on July 2, 2008 7:52 PM

Rays fans don't seem to be as annoying tonight.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 2, 2008 7:52 PM

Nice to see Papi at all! His presence always adds a smile to the day.

[ Danielle ] says:
on July 2, 2008 7:54 PM

Erin, they didn't get too annoying at the game last night til the end at least in my section. I practically lost my voice reminding the Rays fans what month it is since they seem to think the season ends tomorrow.

Dice-k find the K zone

[ Erin ] says:
on July 2, 2008 7:57 PM

Danielle- I was commenting last night on how annoying the cow bells were. I can only imagine what you were going through.

Dice-K needs to stop w/ the walks.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 2, 2008 7:59 PM

Yeah, that's four walks so far. :-(

[ Danielle ] says:
on July 2, 2008 7:59 PM

The cowbells are annoying but surprisingly not too bad in person! The cowbells to me at least seem worse on tv fo some reason.

[ Erin ] says:
on July 2, 2008 8:00 PM

I missed the first inning. Any K's so far from him?

[ Danielle ] says:
on July 2, 2008 8:00 PM

No just the 4 walks and 1 run

[ Erin ] says:
on July 2, 2008 8:03 PM

I'm not to sure about anyone else here but Kazmir is my favorite non- Sox pitcher. He used to be w/ the Mets system right?

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 2, 2008 8:03 PM

Seeing this game on TV is actually the first time I've been able to hear the cowbells at all...

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on July 2, 2008 8:06 PM

Erin - yes. He's actually from my hometown - another guy who grew up less than 5 minutes away from where I lived - and was drafted by the Mets out of high school. He was signed to play with UTexas, and I still blame the Mets to this day for that not happening.

[ fc ] says:
on July 2, 2008 8:08 PM

Move over, JD - Pedroia is ON FIRE.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on July 2, 2008 8:09 PM

EVERYONE: don't forget - tonight's the last chance to vote for the All-Stars.

And I just put a post up about it, and for reasons I cannot disclose at this moment, I would love it if everyone would stop by and comment (a lot) on the post.
http://www.outincenterfield.com/blog/2008/07/top_5_reasons_to_vote_for_the.html

[ Danielle ] says:
on July 2, 2008 8:09 PM

Thank goodness someone (Pleats) on the Sox is acting like they're tired of losing!

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on July 2, 2008 8:10 PM

I read in the Globe's notes sometime last week, that Pedey was all fired up because he hasn't been caught stealing yet (at the time, it was 8 out of 8 attempts) -- and that Francona had to sit him down and make sure he knew he wasn't allowed to try and run wild on the basepaths. I think someone's wanting to be another Ellsbury.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on July 2, 2008 8:13 PM

Manny! With the RBI!

[ Erin ] says:
on July 2, 2008 8:17 PM

When did Pena come off the DL?

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 2, 2008 8:19 PM

Texy, thanks for the voting reminder. Now I wish I had made up alternate personas, but I still have 5 votes left under my real e-mail addy...

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on July 2, 2008 8:19 PM

The 27th.

[ Danielle ] says:
on July 2, 2008 8:20 PM

I put in my 100 votes!

Dice-K!!! FINALLY

[ fc ] says:
on July 2, 2008 8:22 PM

I started voting too early, before I could vote for JD in good conscience. My other, procrastinating personae were able to make up for that.

[ Erin ] says:
on July 2, 2008 8:24 PM

Thanks TG!

I'm not to sure How many votes I have left with the All star voting.

Is it just me or are the Rays new uniforms boring?

[ Karen ] says:
on July 2, 2008 8:24 PM

I have been voting daily with all 4 email addresses. I usually do it during the game.

[ fc ] says:
on July 2, 2008 8:35 PM

We got somethin goin on....

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 2, 2008 8:35 PM

hyperventilating and begging and pleading...

[ Karen ] says:
on July 2, 2008 8:36 PM

Not a fan of the Rays uniforms, do nothing for them. Is it just me or is Kazmir kinda cute. I know it is so wrong to think that.

[ Danielle ] says:
on July 2, 2008 8:37 PM

These boys are gonna make me regret being such a good student and driving back to Orlando today - stupid paper and debate tomorrow ;)

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 2, 2008 8:39 PM

Kazmir's not bad looking at all, I gotta admit.

[ Danielle ] says:
on July 2, 2008 8:39 PM

Lugo, stop acting stupid because the Red Sox uni you're wearing makes it hard for me to hate you sometimes

[ starr4 ] says:
on July 2, 2008 8:40 PM

Vote late and vote often! Thanks for the reminder, TG.
what was up with that last call? A double play for real?

[ Danielle ] says:
on July 2, 2008 8:41 PM

Lugo for the interference caused that call - I didn't know I was watching football

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on July 2, 2008 8:41 PM

You're not alone, ecl. Kazmir is hot.

[ Jennie ] says:
on July 2, 2008 8:42 PM

That was an ugly Lugo play that we all got punished for. :(

[ Danielle ] says:
on July 2, 2008 8:43 PM

Kazmir is hot!

And I'll just say now any complaints coming from me over the Sox play is me mad that I couldn't stay for the game tonight

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 2, 2008 8:43 PM

And then Lugo was standing at short with a big pout. I'm sure he's ticked at himself as well as ticked at getting called out.

[ fc ] says:
on July 2, 2008 8:44 PM

Not sure that's a pout. I think it's just his face.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 2, 2008 8:44 PM

TG, Kaz isn't the type I usually go for...but good enough to catch my eye for sure.

[ Erin ] says:
on July 2, 2008 8:45 PM

Kazmir is a cutie!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 2, 2008 8:45 PM

Naaah, fc, he's capable of turning on a big smile...but he definitely gets the current look when he's not pleased...or maybe just when he's in serious mode.

[ Karen ] says:
on July 2, 2008 8:45 PM

Maybe it's a Texas thing, since Kazmir and Beckett are good looking.

[ Karen ] says:
on July 2, 2008 8:47 PM

Zoom in on papelbon, oh yummy. I was dying with him in front of me Monday nite. Needless to say I have lots of pics of him and Delcarmen, and Tek too.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 2, 2008 8:48 PM

Mmmm, Delcarmen. Now *there's* a cutie! Paps and Tek are both good looking...but gimme the swarthy look any day! :-)

[ Erin ] says:
on July 2, 2008 8:50 PM

I'm sure I'm not the only one here who thinks David Wright is a good looking man.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on July 2, 2008 8:50 PM

Lugo should be mad at himself.... for wearing his pants so high-waisted.

[ Karen ] says:
on July 2, 2008 8:50 PM

I like Paps, Beckett, and Tek. Maybe it's a southern thing. Paps, especially, makes me very happy.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 2, 2008 8:51 PM

Oh wow...Pedey...just incredible...

[ fc ] says:
on July 2, 2008 8:52 PM

Pedey have bat, Pedey hit.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 2, 2008 8:52 PM

David Wright = definitely VERY good looking.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on July 2, 2008 8:52 PM

Pleats with the wheels!

(and thanks, ecl, for the comments on the other post... and hanachan, too, if you're here)

[ fc ] says:
on July 2, 2008 8:53 PM

DREWWWWWWWWWW

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 2, 2008 8:53 PM

TG, maybe he has to wear them high waisted to keep them up on his skinny hips?

Paps...definitely has that Southern charm thing going on...and that accent.

Alright JD!

[ Ian ] says:
on July 2, 2008 8:53 PM

holy triples batman

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 2, 2008 8:54 PM

You're welcome, TG -- everyone else go over there and post liked she asked you to!!!

[ Ian ] says:
on July 2, 2008 8:55 PM

I'm guessing the reasons you can't disclose why you are reminding people to vote is because you have some sort of bet you can't talk about. :D

[ Ian ] says:
on July 2, 2008 8:56 PM

Manny needs to stop pretending he's in New York portraying the Statue of Liberty and take the bat off his shoulders.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 2, 2008 8:58 PM

Maybe TG is in a contest of some sort? I hope we'll *eventually* know the reason. :-)

LOL Ian...Statue of Liberty. How ya doin', by the way? It's been awhile!

[ Ian ] says:
on July 2, 2008 8:58 PM

I added a comment there for you Texy

[ Ian ] says:
on July 2, 2008 8:59 PM

I've been fine. Just been enjoying the past two nights of games.

[ fc ] says:
on July 2, 2008 9:00 PM

I LIKE BASEBALL

[ Ian ] says:
on July 2, 2008 9:01 PM

that worked out well for the Rays right there. NOT!!

[ Ian ] says:
on July 2, 2008 9:01 PM

I LIKE FC

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 2, 2008 9:04 PM

Since tonight's telecast was a last-minute surprise for me, I was planning on just watching...but I just can't stay away from my posting buddies! And with three more televised games this weekend, I'll have plenty of chances to really watch.

[ Jennie ] says:
on July 2, 2008 9:04 PM

Yeah for DEVIL RAYS errors!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 2, 2008 9:04 PM

By the way, y'all are corrupting me. I've had more beer in the past week than in the entire previous year.

[ Jennie ] says:
on July 2, 2008 9:05 PM

and Papelbon is my baseball boyfriend :) Hey Texas Gal - you're my virtual BFF.

[ fc ] says:
on July 2, 2008 9:06 PM

I corrupt, therefore I am.

[ Erin ] says:
on July 2, 2008 9:08 PM

I think I'm the only one here who can't drink legally yet.

[ fc ] says:
on July 2, 2008 9:08 PM

And I am liked. That's a good night in my book!

[ Ian ] says:
on July 2, 2008 9:10 PM

drinking legally is overrated

[ fc ] says:
on July 2, 2008 9:10 PM

Whatever happened to 14-year-old "bloodandwhiskey" anyway? Off to juvenile detention?

[ Erin ] says:
on July 2, 2008 9:12 PM

fc- Did I miss something there?

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 2, 2008 9:13 PM

fc...cracking up! That is an old 14-year-old, I say!

Erin...I think there are others, but they're not here at the moment. And not being legal never stopped me for a moment...but then again, back in my day the age was 18. I wish they had left well enough alone, quite frankly.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 2, 2008 9:14 PM

Ooooh, now that you mention it, Erin, did *I* miss something there as well?

[ Erin ] says:
on July 2, 2008 9:15 PM

I just think 21 is such a weird number. Why not 19 like in Canada?

I live at home with my parents and they let me have some of their drinks on occasion.

[ starr4 ] says:
on July 2, 2008 9:17 PM

It feels good to be in the lead this evening.

I looked at the AL East standings today and thought, what would a road trip from hell for the Sox look like at the end of the week?

OK, I wasn't in a happy place today.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 2, 2008 9:21 PM

I don't understand it either, Erin. I can *sort of* understand trying to curtail drinking in high school (and h.s. students buying it for their friends), but 21 effectively relegates COLLEGE students...legal adults...to the "punch and cookies" set, and I think that's just ridiculous.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 2, 2008 9:23 PM

Awww, Pedey.

[ Erin ] says:
on July 2, 2008 9:25 PM

Oki is up

[ fc ] says:
on July 2, 2008 9:30 PM

I want to believe...

[ Karen ] says:
on July 2, 2008 9:34 PM

No, not Oki. I don't think I can take it.

[ fc ] says:
on July 2, 2008 9:35 PM

Domes are evil.

[ Karen ] says:
on July 2, 2008 9:36 PM

As much as I hate domes, they still need a roof in Tampa. It rains every day there in the summer.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 2, 2008 9:37 PM

And I would assume it's insanely hot there as well.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on July 2, 2008 9:37 PM

hey 3B ump- try reading the Trop ground rules before the game next time.

[ Erin ] says:
on July 2, 2008 9:37 PM

Don't they want to build an outdoor park for them?

[ Danielle ] says:
on July 2, 2008 9:37 PM

Oki DoKKi

[ Danielle ] says:
on July 2, 2008 9:39 PM

I'm glad the game was inside because of the heat but it's still weird to watch. They need to make some contrast in the colors of the ceiling because you lose the ball too easily with the roof being white.

[ Karen ] says:
on July 2, 2008 9:42 PM

It was over 100 degrees outside on Monday when I was there. And to get parking in their lot, I had to arrive 1hr 30mins before they open the gates. So you have to wait outside or in your car. I was in my car, cause ac was better than standing outside in that. So could you imagine sitting outside in that? And the humidity on top of that.

[ fc ] says:
on July 2, 2008 9:44 PM

That wild pitch was J-D-licious.

[ Karen ] says:
on July 2, 2008 9:49 PM

I love Tek, and feel so bad for him. It's hard enough knowing you are in a slump, but to have everyone constantly pointing it out.

[ fc ] says:
on July 2, 2008 9:53 PM

Tek's tough, he can take it. No one's harder on him than himself. He just wants to get better.

[ Karen ] says:
on July 2, 2008 9:59 PM

Paps, yummy.

[ Karen ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:00 PM

Oh god.

[ fc ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:00 PM

FUCK

Pardon me.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:00 PM

Dammit...

[ Erin ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:01 PM

What is going on w/ MDC?

[ Karen ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:02 PM

I'm gonna cry.

[ fc ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:03 PM

Just invoked several deities in whom I do not believe.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:03 PM

Oh man, that sucks. Very disappointing stuff by MDC.

[ Ian ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:03 PM

no bueno

[ Karen ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:06 PM

I wish we could just go from the opener to the closer, and skip the middle.

[ fc ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:06 PM

no
no no no
no

[ Erin ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:07 PM

Damn.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:07 PM

No. No. No. Nooooo.

[ Danielle ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:07 PM

Bullpen needs to remember 3 Ks = 1 out not 3 Balls

[ Ian ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:10 PM

oy vei

[ Karen ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:10 PM

Oh god, this is so not good. Really wanna cry.

[ Erin ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:10 PM

Are they trying to lose here?

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:10 PM

I believe I'm about to cry...

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:11 PM

There's no crying in baseball.

[ Danielle ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:11 PM

Did the strike zone play hide and seek and nobody bothered to try and actually seek it

[ fc ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:11 PM

*snif*

[ fc ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:12 PM

please kill me

[ Karen ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:12 PM

Oh shit, soooo bad.

[ Ian ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:12 PM

fuck fuck fuck and quadruple fuck

[ Karen ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:13 PM

This was the score Monday nite.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:13 PM

doG have mercy...this absolutely sucks.

[ Danielle ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:13 PM

Please someone end the pain

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:13 PM

I don't think Timlin would have even sucked that bad.

Jesus Fucking Christ!!!!!

[ fc ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:14 PM

That thing between me & baseball? It's off.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:14 PM

Pitching staff meltdown...and how many options do we have left?

[ Ian ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:14 PM

by the way, the yanks just put up a 9 spot to retake the lead

[ Karen ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:14 PM

And we go to the Yankees next. I think I will need some serious alcohol by then.

[ Danielle ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:15 PM

We don't need to help convince themselves they're good we all get it they can play ball now it's time to show that we can play ball better yet that we can pitch

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:15 PM

That's more than retaking the lead, Ian...there's a massacre in progress in the Bronx.

[ Karen ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:16 PM

I thought Timlin and Oki were bad, this might be worse.

[ Karen ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:19 PM

As much as I love my sox, this is torture.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:19 PM

I can't even look. I despise Gomes. I'm going to sit here at the computer for the rest of the inning rather than running back and forth.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:19 PM

Oh good. No Gomes. But still...

[ Ian ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:20 PM

Missing:

Red Sox bullpen

If found, please return to the team immediately.

[ Karen ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:20 PM

We're going to empty our bullpen soon, at this point.

[ Ian ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:21 PM

And on a lighter note, fc you weren't hallucinating about the alphabet commercial. They did correct the spelling on it.

[ Mary ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:22 PM

*epic sigh*

I figured I'd pop in here eventually, too bad that it's under these circumstances.....

[ Danielle ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:24 PM

Thank god for Javy

[ fc ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:25 PM

Ah, good spelling makes everything right.

[ Danielle ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:25 PM

I know we still need one more out but we're closer now than 3 pitchers ago

[ Karen ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:26 PM

Oh god, just when you thought it couldn't get worse.

[ Danielle ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:26 PM

Thinking of positive thoughts.....

[ Erin ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:27 PM

This sucks!

[ Karen ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:28 PM

Wakey looked so sad.

[ Danielle ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:28 PM

You can put the blame on the last hit on me I regretted sending the 10:25 message right away

Onto other thoughts if possible anyone have plans for the 4th?

[ Erin ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:29 PM

Thank God thats over. Lets hope the Bats can do something.

[ Karen ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:30 PM

I am working on the 4th, so I will be watching the Sox game archived that night.

[ Bethie ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:31 PM

Just when I thought I could go to bed.

What's up with this sorry ass excuse for relief pitching tonight?? Heat stroke or something?

Glad for the clean inning for Okie, at least.

[ Di ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:31 PM

unhappy greetings from FL. Am I in the twilight zone and no one's told me?

[ Di ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:32 PM

and as usual I am stuck watching "rays tv" with their sucky excuse for commentators

[ fc ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:33 PM

It's only a dream
It's only a dream

[ Danielle ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:33 PM

Di, I had to put the rays tv on mute I just couldn't handle them anymore

[ Di ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:33 PM

its painful isn't it Danielle?

[ Karen ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:34 PM

I'm glad it's espn, and not rays tv, I can't take rays tv, it was last nite.

[ Erin ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:35 PM

The bullpen was beyond sad tonight. I know its July and anything can still happen but I can still be pissed of at a crappy performance

I'm glad I'm not watching the Rays broadcast. I bet they are treating this like a WS game.

[ Danielle ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:35 PM

Btw that and the occasional lapses in game it sucks plus the fact that with my cable it picks and chooses which Sox-Rays games to show I can't stand it

[ fc ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:36 PM

denial is the first stage of grief

[ Di ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:37 PM

of course they are Erin. And the jokes they make about our players makes me want to throw the tv. I could handle it if they were witty but they are sooooo stupid. And what really gets me is the fact that the stadium is filled with bandwagon fans.

[ Erin ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:38 PM

What kind of jokes do they make?

[ Di ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:38 PM

Danielle, were you able to watch the game last night?

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:40 PM

Hey, we'll take it! Great work, Pedey!

[ Mary ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:40 PM

I. Love. Dustin. So. Much.

[ Di ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:40 PM

I wish I could remember the one at the beginning of the game. I tried to block them out because I really really really hate rays tv. I will have to rewind the game later on tonight and get back to you on the jokes.

[ Danielle ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:40 PM

The pitchers may have forgotten the game counts but Pedey hasn't!

[ fc ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:40 PM

Did he just grow a little? He looked taller after knocking in that run.

[ Ian ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:41 PM

I thought denial was a river in Egypt

[ Danielle ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:42 PM

Di, I was at the game which was the game they decided not to show here

[ Di ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:42 PM

Ian I must say I have missed your comments

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:42 PM

Pedey actually looks cute to me tonight. That alone tells me he's doing something right -- don't get me wrong, I think he's an awesome player...but he always looked funny to me before.

[ Danielle ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:43 PM

No Ian I think its runs through my neighborhood because I seem to be on it

[ Di ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:43 PM

well last night I couldn't watch the game. the channel was blank. I don't know if it had anything to do with mlb or what

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:43 PM

fc has been giving Ian a run for his money in the comments department, I must say!

[ Ian ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:44 PM

it's a newington thing.

[ Karen ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:44 PM

What they just said, I didn't know. That the rays announcer is the the father in law of dan wheeler.

[ Danielle ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:44 PM

Di, killing that stuffed animal was so unnecssary!

[ Di ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:44 PM

I didn't know that either

[ Ian ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:45 PM

wow. I was actually missed. I'm fatter. I mean flattered.

[ Di ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:45 PM

are you talking about the ray running over Wally and Remmy's bobblehead?

[ Di ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:46 PM

don't let it go to your head Ian. I just have a thing for witty and sarcastic comments

[ Di ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:47 PM

what movie was that from?

[ Erin ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:47 PM

Ian makes games like these better

[ Di ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:47 PM

that he does

[ fc ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:48 PM

Yes, but can he pitch?

[ Danielle ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:48 PM

I didn't know which one it was but the kid was brushing down the stairs and getting it torn apart

[ Ian ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:49 PM

it is from the comic stylings of one Eddie Murphy in the Nutty Professor

[ Erin ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:49 PM

I wonder what would happen if Beckett were to give up 7 runs in one inning?

[ Karen ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:49 PM

Knowing my luck, paps pitches when I'm not at the game. I guess I just have to go to all games next time. Wishing.

[ Danielle ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:50 PM

Or worse what the plane ride will be like to New York, they might need at least 25 planes by the time this is done

[ Ian ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:50 PM

I can fc. My fastball is in the mid-50's and i have a nice 12-6 curveball.

[ Di ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:50 PM

don't even wonder Erin. I would be devastated

[ Ian ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:51 PM

Pedroia should have stopped at first to get his cycle.

[ Ian ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:53 PM

and then said "i want to ride my bicycle"

[ Ian ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:53 PM

how bout it Manny? Why not be a hitter instead of being the Statue of Liberty?

Nice tumble there

[ Karen ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:54 PM

And Manny smiles.

[ Erin ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:54 PM

That was a break.

[ Di ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:54 PM

"And I think in his heart of hearts I think his (Manny) traveling secretary would have liked to have done that" said the commentator about that first pitch to Manny

[ Ian ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:54 PM

good to see julio lugo's bad arm morph over to Bartlett

[ Ian ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:55 PM

what an idiot the Rays announcer is. The Red Sox have put it in the past.

[ Di ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:56 PM

they talked about it all the time

[ Danielle ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:57 PM

The Red Sox and us fans may have put it in the past but these Rays announcers hang on to this stuff forever

[ fc ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:57 PM

Mikey!

[ Di ] says:
on July 2, 2008 10:58 PM

Do you live in FL Danielle or are you just visiting?

[ Danielle ] says:
on July 2, 2008 11:00 PM

I'm visiting Orlando for three years now with one more to go ....

I moved down for college but plan to move back to Boston next year

[ Di ] says:
on July 2, 2008 11:02 PM

I live just outside of Orlando. I go to Stetson University

[ Di ] says:
on July 2, 2008 11:02 PM

and I want to go to law school in Boston

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 2, 2008 11:03 PM

Dammit! That made NO sense...

[ Danielle ] says:
on July 2, 2008 11:04 PM

Oh Im at UCF, I love it but it's time to go back home

[ Erin ] says:
on July 2, 2008 11:04 PM

FUCK!

[ fc ] says:
on July 2, 2008 11:04 PM

unforgivable

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 2, 2008 11:05 PM

MFSOB. WTF? (sigh)

[ fc ] says:
on July 2, 2008 11:05 PM

I think anger is the second stage.

[ Di ] says:
on July 2, 2008 11:05 PM

FL is home for me and I want to get out. I loooove Boston.

[ Karen ] says:
on July 2, 2008 11:05 PM

I can't believe they started playing sweet caroline. Omg.

[ Danielle ] says:
on July 2, 2008 11:06 PM

This is a good game for me not to be at because fights after these games love to find me

Time to get ready for class in the morning, paper due, debate summary etc

It's only July..........

[ Anonymous ] says:
on July 2, 2008 11:06 PM

"Can we take much more of this? I'm game" said the announcer. Well I know I can't take much more of this shit from them or their team.

[ Erin ] says:
on July 2, 2008 11:06 PM

You think the team will have a meeting any time soon?

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 2, 2008 11:06 PM

And now we have a 5-game losing streak...

Ian was right, Pedey should have held up at first. At least there would have been something good about tonight.

[ Danielle ] says:
on July 2, 2008 11:06 PM

Karen they did the same thing last time

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 2, 2008 11:07 PM

Erin, the meeting thing occurred to me a couple of innings ago...

[ Erin ] says:
on July 2, 2008 11:08 PM

Didn't that writer say that he hates that song when the Sox play it?

[ Di ] says:
on July 2, 2008 11:08 PM

I would love to be a fly on the wall for that meeting

[ Piney61 ] says:
on July 2, 2008 11:09 PM

I don't like to be Ms Manners or whatever, but holy shit are the Rays people classless. And man do I hope it bites them in the ass. I don't mind piss and vinegar from a team, but there's a certain line.

It'd be one thing if they were winning graciously and all and they were just piss and vinegar but respectful, but they just don't have any.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 2, 2008 11:10 PM

Me too, Di. Although I have a feeling it wouldn't be fun...I don't like being around angry men.

[ Ian ] says:
on July 2, 2008 11:10 PM

okay how many people broke stuff?

My friend just called me to give me their softball score and the game ended and i just started swearing like a truck driver.

His reaction: Red Sox lost huh.

[ Erin ] says:
on July 2, 2008 11:11 PM

Didn't the manger of the Tigers have a meeting w/ the team and he liked yelled at them?

[ Di ] says:
on July 2, 2008 11:11 PM

I have to agree with you Piney. Fans down here suck. They are bandwagon fans, which pisses me off more than anything. You are fan whether your team wins or loses not just for the wins

[ Als ] says:
on July 2, 2008 11:11 PM

That was sad. So sad, in fact, that my mother--a life long red sox fan--decided that the current Sox batting order needed to be fixed. This is the point at which I suddenly realized that my mother, despite a lifetime of watching baseball, knows absolutely nothing about baseball. This is her batting order, also known as the line up from hell:

Lowell
Youkilis
Pedroia
Drew
Ramirez
Ellsbury
Crisp/Moss
Lugo
Varitek

Yep, all I can say is that I hope the Sox beat the Yankees. I can only imagine what else she'd come up with.

[ Danielle ] says:
on July 2, 2008 11:11 PM

On top of the lack of class, half of the fans didn't know the team existed until last month

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 2, 2008 11:12 PM

I didn't break anything, but I'm highly annoyed and wondering how the heck I'm going to fall asleep quickly...gotta get up early in the morning.

[ Jessi ] says:
on July 2, 2008 11:12 PM

That was the WORST game I've seen in such a long time. The espn announcers would not shut up about how amazing the Rays are, the bullpen completely sucked, and Ray fans need to die. God this was just so sad.

[ fc ] says:
on July 2, 2008 11:13 PM

Nothing broken here except my heart.
But I did excersize my 'extended vocabulary' and probably owe my neighbors an apology.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 2, 2008 11:13 PM

Danielle, how many of them were wearing the TB equivalent of pink hats?

[ Ian ] says:
on July 2, 2008 11:13 PM

If Tito used that lineup, he'd probably got canned.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 2, 2008 11:14 PM

The bright side is that probably after this, being in the Bronx will be a comparative breeze.

[ Danielle ] says:
on July 2, 2008 11:14 PM

Way too many and I was sitting near too many of them night

[ Ian ] says:
on July 2, 2008 11:15 PM

my game recap could look like this.

The bullpen imploded. that is all

[ Karen ] says:
on July 2, 2008 11:15 PM

Exhausted, off to bed. Be back tomorrow nite.

[ Danielle ] says:
on July 2, 2008 11:15 PM

*last night

Many of them seemed to forget what month it was too because some pretty much deemed the season ended tomorrow

[ Ian ] says:
on July 2, 2008 11:16 PM

well ecl, the yanks put 18 tonight so it's not going to be too easy.

[ fc ] says:
on July 2, 2008 11:16 PM

NIGHT. For the love of God, the word is NIGHT.

Sorry, pretty testy here. And that's been bugging me for two days.

Here's hoping Karen already left.

[ Danielle ] says:
on July 2, 2008 11:17 PM

Time for 2 Advil PM, 20 pages of printed crap and a couple hours of sleep before another day of hell in classes

[ Erin ] says:
on July 2, 2008 11:17 PM

Eck seems pretty pissed off. Even TC seems pissed off

[ Jessi ] says:
on July 2, 2008 11:19 PM

Ok another rant about why the Ray fans suck. Espn would not stop showing clips of the drunk assholes waving around their brooms and fuckin cowbells. There were signs like "One EPIC sweep for first." What the hell is epic? You've swept us before and then we swept you. Other ignorant signs just said how much Sox suck. Excuse me but has your team ever made it to the playoffs?! They need to be taught some class.

With that being said, I appreciate the Rays. I'd much rather lose to them than the Yanks and they've made such a good comeback that you can't ignore it.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 2, 2008 11:20 PM

Ian...oops, you've got a point there. And I take it fc doesn't like shorthand.

[ Ian ] says:
on July 2, 2008 11:21 PM

I wonder how low Heidi will make her voice for Terry's Take. Will she just whisper to him?

That was pretty funny. Eck just said I need to calm down. He was as fired up as everyone here.

NIGHT fc.

[ Piney61 ] says:
on July 2, 2008 11:21 PM

Honestly if I had the power to do so, I'd like to take anybody whose starting out as a baseball fan and give them a guide on how to be a fan and not an insufferable bandwagoning asshole. Not just with Rays fans, but all fans are like this. Red Sox, Yankees, A's, Dodgers, doesn't matter what teams. It's just that the new fans are just so cocky and think of basing their entire fandom on teh hatred of another team and it's pathetic and sad. I just wish I had the chance to pull them all aside and give them a handbook or something.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 2, 2008 11:21 PM

Jessi, I saw those drunk broom-wavers too. Disgusting. It looked like a pretty "rube" crowd, to use an antiquated word for classless individuals.

[ Di ] says:
on July 2, 2008 11:21 PM

I'm in the same boat you are in Danielle, good luck and good night everyone

[ fc ] says:
on July 2, 2008 11:22 PM

I'm fine with typos and brain cramps. It's ignorance and illiteracy that bug me. And TOTALLY UNNECESSARY HEART BREAKING LOSSES.

I'll be fine in a little while. Sorry you nice folks had to witness this. ;)

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 2, 2008 11:23 PM

Piney, I get aggravated with any fan (not just new fans) who bases their fandom on hatred of another team. I just don't get the "hate" aspect of fandom and rivalries. Never have and never will, whether it be Sox/NYY or Duke/Carolina.

[ Jessi ] says:
on July 2, 2008 11:23 PM

Ecl, I would not have minded as much being swept by the Rays except now their fans think they own the mlb. Every out and play they make it seems like the Rays have won the WS.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 2, 2008 11:25 PM

We'll all probably feel better in the morning, fc.

[ Adam ] says:
on July 2, 2008 11:26 PM

VariteKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK might get a hit by August!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 2, 2008 11:27 PM

I'm rather bummed about the sweep myself. We had the game well in hand before the bullpen implosion. And then we were so close to coming back. Ugh. I agree, though, the Rays fan base has gotten more than a little bit cocky.
