I'm going to watch baseball on TV for the first time in 10 days (not that listening to Castig and Dave is bad, but still). BRING IT ON.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 7, 2008 6:51 PM

(peeking in the door) Nobody else here yet? Guess I'll turn on the TV and get ready for the game. ESPN. Oh goody, but it's better than nothing. Will check back in a bit. GO SOX!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 7, 2008 6:52 PM

Yay for not being here by myself! Welcome back, Liza!

[ Erin ] says:
on July 7, 2008 6:53 PM

Hello everyone!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 7, 2008 6:53 PM

Hey Erin! (rushing to the fridge to grab food)...

[ Bethie ] says:
on July 7, 2008 7:02 PM

Hey everyone!

Let's pray for a win tonight!! GO SOX!!

[ EricaC ] says:
on July 7, 2008 7:03 PM

Hi all!!

[ jules ] says:
on July 7, 2008 7:10 PM

Hey every body!

I feel it's been a while since I've checked in.

It's HOT! It's 103 and smoky as hell from all the wild fires around the area. It's going to get hotter this week.

What's up with NESN's audio? Remy's voice is going into the back speakers...weird.

What a crappy road trip. I'm still cranky about it. We should've done better.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 7, 2008 7:11 PM

Oh look -- they have a tiny second baseman too!

[ Liza ] says:
on July 7, 2008 7:12 PM

*tiny, hot-hitting second baseman who hits second in their order

That really is some screwy audio going on...

Also, JOE MAUER.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 7, 2008 7:14 PM

Handsome lad, that Mauer....

[ Erin ] says:
on July 7, 2008 7:15 PM

Is is just me or is Joe Mauer kinda cute? My mom seems to think so

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 7, 2008 7:16 PM

He's very kinda cute, Erin.

[ kristina ] says:
on July 7, 2008 7:18 PM

hey everyone....yay for finally being back home....i'm liking the idea od Masterson in our bullpen....we need help back there, and he just seems like the happiest kid in the world...he must be friends with the mayor......oh and the Rays lost =)

[ EricaC ] says:
on July 7, 2008 7:18 PM

We need strikes Dice-K.....

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 7, 2008 7:20 PM

Rays losing = that's a start...

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 7, 2008 7:20 PM

no no no no no.....

[ Liza ] says:
on July 7, 2008 7:21 PM

This is bad.

[ Bethie ] says:
on July 7, 2008 7:21 PM

Ummmm.... Dice K......

STOP WALKING PEOPLE!!!

please and thank you.

[ jules ] says:
on July 7, 2008 7:21 PM

DICE! This IS not good.

kristina, I was thinking the same thing. Our pen needs help. We *need* someone who can be dependable and can go long.

Whew...that was close.

[ Erin ] says:
on July 7, 2008 7:21 PM

That could have ended badly

[ EricaC ] says:
on July 7, 2008 7:21 PM

that was to close for comfort... someone please talk to him while the Sox bat..... please?

[ kristina ] says:
on July 7, 2008 7:21 PM

why does he have to make things interesting.....doesn't he know we're ok with short 1-2-3 innings

[ Liza ] says:
on July 7, 2008 7:25 PM

HA. That commercial has got to be the only good thing about Sox Appeal.

Jacoby--feel free to actually take a pitch some time.

[ Danielle ] says:
on July 7, 2008 7:30 PM

Hey everyone! I won't be in here too often because my cousins from Australia are here and I'm explaining each play... this is gonna make for an interesting night

Hope everyone had a great day!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 7, 2008 7:30 PM

Nice to hear that the Cardinals have the Wednesday night ESPN game, now that Albert is finally back from the DL...and we have a day game Wednesday. Hmmmm...

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 7, 2008 7:31 PM

That should be a lot of fun, Danielle.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 7, 2008 7:33 PM

Who was that young Minnesota player who they just had a close up of? Handsome fellow with kinky hair? Just curious. /shallow...

[ Anonymous ] says:
on July 7, 2008 7:35 PM

don't forget to put another shrimp on the barbie

[ Liza ] says:
on July 7, 2008 7:38 PM

PAPI! (Oh, silly, wear a helmet, I can tell you that...)

[ jules ] says:
on July 7, 2008 7:39 PM

I gotta run...I have to get some work done before a meeting tomorrow. I shouldn't complain, the over time paid for a new set of golf clubs ;-).

Go Sox!

[ Anonymous ] says:
on July 7, 2008 7:40 PM

big leaguers don't wear helmets in batting practice

[ Anonymous ] says:
on July 7, 2008 7:46 PM

Evan Longoria and Corey Hart are leading the voting right now for the 32nd man

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 7, 2008 7:58 PM

Hmph. I hate when the great catches come at our expense.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 7, 2008 7:58 PM

:::crickets:::

[ EricaC ] says:
on July 7, 2008 8:01 PM

I agree ecl... its a very quiet night in here... where is everyone?

[ Erin ] says:
on July 7, 2008 8:01 PM

Sorry if I'm not talking I'm having a cookie

[ EricaC ] says:
on July 7, 2008 8:03 PM

Holy cow!!! Dice-KKK

[ Erin ] says:
on July 7, 2008 8:04 PM

What is up w/ the echo?

[ Karen ] says:
on July 7, 2008 8:04 PM

Just got in from work.

[ EricaC ] says:
on July 7, 2008 8:05 PM

I have no idea Erin, but its a lil on the annoying side

[ Bethie ] says:
on July 7, 2008 8:05 PM

I'm here...just busy praying for red sox runs. :)

[ EricaC ] says:
on July 7, 2008 8:06 PM

Hi Karen! How do you like the new job?

[ Ellen ] says:
on July 7, 2008 8:08 PM

Hi all! I hope the sox win tonight.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 7, 2008 8:08 PM

I'm in my usual back-and-forth-to-TV mode, plus I'm eating dinner one food at a time. Gotta get back in there and watch our big guns now...

[ kristina ] says:
on July 7, 2008 8:10 PM

i was engrossed in an intense game of "spaghetti and math balls" and i came to the conclusion that my 4 year old is smarter than me =D

[ Erin ] says:
on July 7, 2008 8:13 PM

Manny!

[ EricaC ] says:
on July 7, 2008 8:13 PM

Yay Drew!!! Yay Manny!!

[ Ian ] says:
on July 7, 2008 8:14 PM

my friends almost 8 year old daughter is smarter than me and I'm not ashamed to admit it. Plus I laugh because she can use a computer better than both of her parents.

[ kristina ] says:
on July 7, 2008 8:16 PM

if she wants to be a genious, i'll gladly take the credit =)

[ Karen ] says:
on July 7, 2008 8:16 PM

EricaC, the job is good, just tiring. Right now it is inventory time so a lot of tedious work. I have been looking forward to sitting still all day.

[ Ian ] says:
on July 7, 2008 8:17 PM

I keep joking with my friend that we need to exploit her daughter's musical talents to make some money.

The girl hears a song once and can sing it no problem and has an amazing voice.

[ EricaC ] says:
on July 7, 2008 8:18 PM

I don't blame you Karen, I always hated inventory time

[ Jess ] says:
on July 7, 2008 8:19 PM

Youk has never swung at a 3-0 pitch?! whoa.

[ kristina ] says:
on July 7, 2008 8:19 PM

Ian we can pair her with Lily...she hears a song then plays on the piano....it's amazing, i don't understand it....but we could clean up...then wind up on a E! true hollywood story =D

[ kristina ] says:
on July 7, 2008 8:20 PM

can we please do something with the bases loaded

[ Erin ] says:
on July 7, 2008 8:22 PM

That was lame.

[ kristina ] says:
on July 7, 2008 8:22 PM

or we can leave them loaded....seems to be our new thing

[ Jennie ] says:
on July 7, 2008 8:22 PM

sigh - they're not going to get anything out of this, are they?

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 7, 2008 8:23 PM

Well, BAH. :(

[ Ellen ] says:
on July 7, 2008 8:23 PM

Why? Just why?

[ EricaC ] says:
on July 7, 2008 8:24 PM

I'm really getting tired of that happening

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 7, 2008 8:28 PM

The good news is that we get Pedey next inning. That alone should give us hope.

[ EricaC ] says:
on July 7, 2008 8:29 PM

Someone needs to talk to Dice-K again... enough with the walks already

[ EricaC ] says:
on July 7, 2008 8:30 PM

Nice DP guys :D

[ Ian ] says:
on July 7, 2008 8:30 PM

someone needs to tell the NESN audio people to fix the damn sound

[ kristina ] says:
on July 7, 2008 8:30 PM

who is this man at short stop...and what have they done with the real Lugo

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 7, 2008 8:31 PM

I don't know, Kristina, but he's making me smile. :)

[ Ian ] says:
on July 7, 2008 8:31 PM

it's alex cora in a julio lugo body suit

[ Danielle ] says:
on July 7, 2008 8:33 PM

i suggest everyone find an Australian relative and have them watch a Red Sox game because mine are so absorbed in the game its so funny

[ Ian ] says:
on July 7, 2008 8:35 PM

just don't tell them to Crack a fat

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 7, 2008 8:37 PM

HA -- Danielle, they're addicted already!

[ Danielle ] says:
on July 7, 2008 8:37 PM

no, ian i won't

and i won't take them to outback steakhouse either... so many people told us too - clueless...

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 7, 2008 8:39 PM

Danielle, one of my cousins (coincidentally named Danielle) spent about 3 weeks in Australia last winter and said the food was really...different, for lack of a better way to explain it. I wish I could remember everything she told me about it.

[ Ian ] says:
on July 7, 2008 8:40 PM

I laughed when someone told me what that meant.

[ Ian ] says:
on July 7, 2008 8:40 PM

down goes man muscles

[ Erin ] says:
on July 7, 2008 8:42 PM

What dose "Crack a fat" mean?

[ Ian ] says:
on July 7, 2008 8:42 PM

0-2 hits like that are so aggravating.

[ Ian ] says:
on July 7, 2008 8:43 PM

i suggest you google it erin. LOL.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 7, 2008 8:44 PM

I was going to say the same thing, Ian. That's what I just did. hee

[ Danielle ] says:
on July 7, 2008 8:44 PM

ecl, they are addicted

my cousin terry bought a red sox hat and wore in new york this weekend completely clueless, one bus driver yelled at him but told him it was ok when he heard his accent

[ Ian ] says:
on July 7, 2008 8:46 PM

well at least he learned a valuable lesson. don't wear Red Sox stuff in NY. especially given the fact that some Red Sox fan beat up someone with new york plates who he thought was a Yanks fan.

[ Erin ] says:
on July 7, 2008 8:47 PM

Just looked up what it meant. LOL.

[ Liza ] says:
on July 7, 2008 8:50 PM

Alternatively, I wore my Sox hat all around Manhattan and the only negative reaction I got was two little kids glaring at me.

[ EricaC ] says:
on July 7, 2008 8:51 PM

YAY Mikey!!!

C'mon boys get the rally going!

[ Karen ] says:
on July 7, 2008 8:53 PM

It must be fun sitting next to Youky in the dugout. He looks pissed.

[ Karen ] says:
on July 7, 2008 8:54 PM

I get so homesick when they show Boston.

[ Erin ] says:
on July 7, 2008 8:56 PM

Wow look at all the "fans" that weren't at the Rays game

[ Erin ] says:
on July 7, 2008 8:58 PM

That was a crazy play Youk made

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 7, 2008 9:01 PM

Ian, that sucks about the Sox fan beating the "suspected NYY fan." Better that than getting run over, though, as happened earlier this year. Yeesh. This stuff I will never understand.

[ EricaC ] says:
on July 7, 2008 9:02 PM

Ok, we got out of trouble AGAIN!! Now will someone please wake up the Red Sox bats?!?!?!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 7, 2008 9:03 PM

Crisp-Varitek-Lugo. Well, one can hope...maybe E6 will get a hit to go with his fielding tonight.

[ Liza ] says:
on July 7, 2008 9:04 PM

That was a FANTASTIC catch. Unfortunately.

[ kristina ] says:
on July 7, 2008 9:04 PM

awww fudge....just a little more Coco

[ EricaC ] says:
on July 7, 2008 9:04 PM

I'm not liking this Span guy

[ kristina ] says:
on July 7, 2008 9:07 PM

what...lugo...really....

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 7, 2008 9:08 PM

Well...I called it, but too bad it was for naught.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 7, 2008 9:09 PM

By the way, Ian, thanks for that link. First time I've ever seen a Little Papi picture. How adorable!

[ Erin ] says:
on July 7, 2008 9:11 PM

Has anyone seen Papi's son? He is so adorable!

[ Karen ] says:
on July 7, 2008 9:12 PM

Why Oki, why? I don't know if my patience can take that.

[ Karen ] says:
on July 7, 2008 9:12 PM

Love ya, Jacoby.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 7, 2008 9:13 PM

And he picks himself up and dusts himself off and says, "Awww, it was nothing!" :D

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 7, 2008 9:13 PM

Erin, D'Angelo Ortiz = cutest child ever. And little Manny Jr is pretty darned cute too.

[ Ian ] says:
on July 7, 2008 9:14 PM

YW ecl. When I saw that card Erin I actually thought it was little D'Angelo. He's definitely his father's son.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 7, 2008 9:16 PM

Definitely his father's son, but with longer hair that grows in big loopy curls.

[ Erin ] says:
on July 7, 2008 9:17 PM

Ian I was just thinking that also. Ortiz also has two daughters right?

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 7, 2008 9:19 PM

Two daughters, yes. I've never seen pictures of them, but would be interested to know what they look like.

[ Ian ] says:
on July 7, 2008 9:19 PM

yes he does, Yessica and Alexandra

[ kristina ] says:
on July 7, 2008 9:21 PM

...nervous

[ Karen ] says:
on July 7, 2008 9:22 PM

Oki, always makes me nervous.

[ Ian ] says:
on July 7, 2008 9:23 PM

Oki's killing my WHIP on my fantasy team as of late

[ Karen ] says:
on July 7, 2008 9:23 PM

Is there a reason we let him pitch?

[ kristina ] says:
on July 7, 2008 9:23 PM

covering my eyes...

[ EricaC ] says:
on July 7, 2008 9:24 PM

I think I may cry

[ Karen ] says:
on July 7, 2008 9:25 PM

This is why I would like to go from the starter to the closer and skip the middle. I know we can't, but I can dream.

[ Liza ] says:
on July 7, 2008 9:25 PM

That one curve right there was really pretty. Unfortunately, the other pitches have all been ugly as hell.

[ Karen ] says:
on July 7, 2008 9:26 PM

Youky is amazing.

[ Karen ] says:
on July 7, 2008 9:27 PM

Oh, thank god.

[ Ian ] says:
on July 7, 2008 9:27 PM

There's no crying in baseball.

THANK YOU OKI

[ Liza ] says:
on July 7, 2008 9:27 PM

YESSS OKIE

All right. At least he didn't allow any runs.

[ kristina ] says:
on July 7, 2008 9:27 PM

youk is my hero....it's official....Lily just told my husband "mommy's crazy"

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 7, 2008 9:27 PM

Oki is trying to kill me. (whew)

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 7, 2008 9:28 PM

Kristina, I'm sure your husband will understand!

[ kristina ] says:
on July 7, 2008 9:30 PM

he's just not as outward about it...he's more of a quiet fist pump kinda guy....yeah pleats...

[ Ian ] says:
on July 7, 2008 9:31 PM
Lily just told my husband "mommy's crazy"

or as Danielle's Australian relatives might say:

she's a few Kangaroos loose in the top paddock

[ EricaC ] says:
on July 7, 2008 9:31 PM

C'mon boys!!!

[ Ian ] says:
on July 7, 2008 9:32 PM

They're more likely to say what in bloody hell is wrong with her

[ Danielle ] says:
on July 7, 2008 9:34 PM

oops I put Ian in the name instead haha

[ Liza ] says:
on July 7, 2008 9:34 PM

MANNY

[ Ian ] says:
on July 7, 2008 9:34 PM

on July 7, 2008 9:35 PM

Aww, Big Papi cheering for him, so cute.

[ Danielle ] says:
on July 7, 2008 9:36 PM

I got caught up in watchin Papi cheer on Manny and with the Manny single

[ Danielle ] says:
on July 7, 2008 9:36 PM

Bullpen band!!!

[ Karen ] says:
on July 7, 2008 9:37 PM

Paps warming up.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 7, 2008 9:38 PM

Wow...tears of joy here. Manny...and Papi...and the bullpen band. I'm laughing and crying at the same time...

[ Karen ] says:
on July 7, 2008 9:39 PM

I'm definitely smiling.

[ kristina ] says:
on July 7, 2008 9:39 PM

i shouldn't be this excited in early July...

[ Karen ] says:
on July 7, 2008 9:40 PM

Christmas in July.

[ Karen ] says:
on July 7, 2008 9:44 PM

My man. I don't care if he messed up last nite, I still love him.

[ ecl1958 ] says:

Love is love, Karen. It can't be helped.

[ kristina ] says:
on July 7, 2008 9:46 PM

Papelbuns =)

[ Karen ] says:
on July 7, 2008 9:48 PM

It would be nice if they could stop discussing the loss, don't jinx him.

[ kristina ] says:
on July 7, 2008 9:51 PM

papel-K

[ Liza ] says:
on July 7, 2008 9:52 PM
