I may be too afraid to watch today. :( Yesterday was rather unpleasant.

[ Jennifer ] says:
on July 27, 2008 8:03 PM

I, for the first time in two years, turned the game off yesterday.

While the rain delay is making us wait in agony, what do you all think about Manny? Are we going to pick up his option for next year?

[ Liza ] says:
on July 27, 2008 8:05 PM

After all the recent crap, I doubt they'll pick up his option unless he seriously turns his act around. But I think it's equally unlikely that he'll be traded before the season's over.

[ Jennie ] says:
on July 27, 2008 8:05 PM

I don't want Manny to play for anyone else. That would just be wrong.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on July 27, 2008 8:05 PM

I quite literally have no clue. Objectively speaking, they should do. In a vacuum, his numbers (even on the slight decline) are worth it. But this is not a vacuum.

One thing's for sure: the front office is not reactionary, and does not give a crap how much shit the media stirs about it.

[ Bethie ] says:
on July 27, 2008 8:05 PM

I think after his comments earlier today (cocky much?), and knowing how the Red Sox brass might react, he's probably a free agent after this year.

And that should make him happy, cause he predicted it.

But, who knows. I won't believe anything until I see it. Talk is cheap. :)

[ Ian ] says:
on July 27, 2008 8:07 PM

How many people does ESPN having do this game. I counted 4 now.

Jon Miller, Orel Hershiser, Steve Phillips and Peter Gammons.

[ Liza ] says:
on July 27, 2008 8:09 PM

Oh, but I should specify--I'd be devastated if he went to another team. I'd almost rather he retired than go somewhere else.

(ducks)

[ Ian ] says:
on July 27, 2008 8:09 PM

I'm assuming Joe Morgan is in Cooperstown getting hammered tonight.

[ Jane ] says:
on July 27, 2008 8:10 PM

Orel frightens me. And Manny? Kindly hush.

[ Ian ] says:
on July 27, 2008 8:11 PM

As Manny said "Enough is enough".

[ Liza ] says:
on July 27, 2008 8:12 PM

Someone mention when the game starts back up--ESPN keeps blacking out on me.

[ Ian ] says:
on July 27, 2008 8:13 PM

It's doing that because you like Xavier Nady who now plays for the Skanks. ;)

[ Liza ] says:
on July 27, 2008 8:15 PM

Then NESN should black out every Blue Jays game for me, too. :)

[ choco ] says:
on July 27, 2008 8:15 PM

Wow, haven't been here in a long time.

Hopefully the game starts soon. Yesterday's game was awful...

[ boston_princess ] says:
on July 27, 2008 8:15 PM

Rain delaaaaaaaaay

[ Jennifer ] says:
on July 27, 2008 8:18 PM

Heh...thought I was the only one who called the Yanks the Skanks. Nice to hear someone else use the term.

[ Ian ] says:
on July 27, 2008 8:23 PM

unofficial start time is now 9 PM.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 27, 2008 8:24 PM

Liza, I'm with you. Mad as I am at Manny right now, I stilll...can't imagine him in a different uniform.

Jane, why does Orel frighten you?

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 27, 2008 8:25 PM

P.S. Welcome back choco!

[ Jennifer ] says:
on July 27, 2008 8:28 PM

I'll admit it, I booed Manny. I don't like Manny right now. Hell, I'm pissed off at him. But I can't picture him batting against his.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on July 27, 2008 8:31 PM

Wow. I have to say, I've never booed one of my own players, ever. Not even Gagne. Although I did call Lugo E-6, from about 5 feet away.

[ Jennifer ] says:
on July 27, 2008 8:31 PM

I booed him when I heard that he pushed an old man. That was just unneccessary, over the top and uncalled for.

[ Liza ] says:
on July 27, 2008 8:33 PM

The only time I'd ever boo a player, personally, was if he was A-Rod or Barry Bonds. I'm a believer in cheering for those you like and giving the silent treatment to those you don't.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 27, 2008 8:33 PM

TG -- HA! Did Julio hear you when you called him that? :::cracks up:::

Yeah, Jennifer, that was a very bad Manny moment, shoving the traveling secretary. At least w/Youk it's a peer...but a senior citizen? No.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 27, 2008 8:34 PM

I don't think I have it in me to boo any player. The silent treatment is more my style.

[ Jennifer ] says:
on July 27, 2008 8:35 PM

Exactly. I don't boo the players for what they do on the field, but if they start shoving old, defenseless men...well, that's a whole new story.

[ choco ] says:
on July 27, 2008 8:38 PM

I've never booed a player. Like I was at this game and Lugo made 2 errors and then next time he was up people were booing him and I was so sad because it was at Fenway and they were booing him so I was cheering, but we were really really high up, so according to my dad "the only person that heard you was Jesus". He did hit his first (and only) home run of the season!

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on July 27, 2008 8:41 PM

The problem with booing is that you don't get to tag your boo with your reason. It's just a boo. All boos sound the same.

[ Kristin ] says:
on July 27, 2008 8:41 PM

hey everyone--i missed yesterday's game, but that was probably a good thing--jst put the little one to bed and she said "go redsox" i'm so proud!

[ Kim ] says:
on July 27, 2008 8:42 PM

I'm pissed at Manny now too. I'm pissed that he's screwing around when they need him. I wish that he'd leave yet don't want to see him any other uniform either.

[ Bethie ] says:
on July 27, 2008 8:47 PM

I just wish Manny would shut up and play baseball until whatever happens happens.

But I guess that's just Manny being Manny.

[ Jennifer ] says:
on July 27, 2008 8:48 PM

"The problem with booing is that you don't get to tag your boo with your reason."

Which is why I boo from the comfort of my own home. When at Fenway (or other ballparks) I don't boo for exactly that reason.

[ Jennifer ] says:
on July 27, 2008 8:51 PM

"Manny being Manny" = worst phrase ever.
I hate it...allows him to do whatever he wants, and most people will just shrug it off as Manny being Manny.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 27, 2008 8:52 PM

Perhaps they should just call it "Manny being very eccentric and behaving like less than half his stated age."

An aside...Bethie, how was the race?

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on July 27, 2008 8:58 PM

How awesome would it be to have a frame to put around your TV that you could throw things at when you were mad at a player... but would protect the screen?

[ Bethie ] says:
on July 27, 2008 9:01 PM

It sucked Faith.

And Indy is my favorite track, broke my heart. :(

Has it stopped raining yet?? :)

[ choco ] says:
on July 27, 2008 9:01 PM

TG, that'd be AWESOME.
Invent it and I'd buy it.

[ jules ] says:
on July 27, 2008 9:01 PM

Hey everyone!

Just stopping in for a bit. I'll be watching the game with my husband, who is out getting Chinese food. yummmmm

I'm already *sick* of Jon Miller. Shut up! I miss Remy & D.O.

My hubby's take on Manny: he's very insecure and is acting out because of the uncertainty of next year. /psychologist speak It's counterproductive because if he'd grow up and play, he'll be here next year and later.

Kristin, you've done well!

[ Liza ] says:
on July 27, 2008 9:01 PM

That would be fantastic. But it might be habit-forming--it'd be dangerous to go to a bar to watch a game, then.

Game underway!

(Ecl... watch closely... remember, just before his release.)

[ jules ] says:
on July 27, 2008 9:03 PM

Texy, years ago I gave my Mom a "Bad Call Brick." It's made of nerf-like stuff and looks like a brick (with the 49ers logo). It's soft enough you can throw at your TV.

Lester! Sit DOWN demon!

[ Kristin ] says:
on July 27, 2008 9:03 PM

Lester-K

[ Jennifer ] says:
on July 27, 2008 9:04 PM

GAH. I wanted Remy and DO. Needed them.

Let's go Jonny boy.

[ jules ] says:
on July 27, 2008 9:05 PM

Jacoby! Nice catch!

[ Jennifer ] says:
on July 27, 2008 9:05 PM

Superman! Nice catch Jacoby.

[ Kristin ] says:
on July 27, 2008 9:06 PM

nice catch Jacoby....we occasionally through nerf balls at the TV......just don't throw them too hard =D

[ Bethie ] says:
on July 27, 2008 9:07 PM

Mental note: Watch for replay of Jacoby catch on internet, since currently without cable.

[ Jennifer ] says:
on July 27, 2008 9:07 PM

I throw pillows. They're soft enough that they do no damage, but they make me feel better.

[ Liza ] says:
on July 27, 2008 9:07 PM

Oh, I need one of those, Jules. :)

Jacoby is fantastic. Nice catch, then nice throw. Too bad it didn't work.

[ choco ] says:
on July 27, 2008 9:08 PM

A-Rod is so lame.

[ jules ] says:
on July 27, 2008 9:10 PM

Ok, I *have* to say it...

This finally fast commercial bugs me. They're showing the blue screen of death on a MAC! Ugh. Lame. /mac snob

Let's go Pleats!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 27, 2008 9:11 PM

Bethie, I'm sorry the race sucked.

Nice Jacoby catch.

And Liza, YES!!! I think just AS he's releasing is when I get the view I like the best.

[ Ian ] says:
on July 27, 2008 9:11 PM

I paid too much for my HDTV to throw anything at it even if it was protected. Knowing my luck I'd miss and it would hit the wall and hit the tv on the rebound.

[ Jennifer ] says:
on July 27, 2008 9:12 PM

DUSTY P.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 27, 2008 9:12 PM

Jules, I've never used a Mac. No blue screen of death?

[ Kristin ] says:
on July 27, 2008 9:12 PM

we decided we should probablt stop throwing things at the TV when Ella thought throing her cup at it was funny =D....Pedey!

[ Liza ] says:
on July 27, 2008 9:13 PM

You see now, then, Ecl? ;)

Youuuuuuk!

[ Jennifer ] says:
on July 27, 2008 9:14 PM

Throwing things at the TV can lead to troublesome habits.

[ Cathy ] says:
on July 27, 2008 9:16 PM

I know they make protective screens for computer monitors, so making one for tvs shouldn't be much of a stretch. And it's a great idea, TG.

[ EricaC ] says:
on July 27, 2008 9:16 PM

Hey All! I'm so happy to have Big Papi back in the lineup

[ Kristin ] says:
on July 27, 2008 9:16 PM

Papi....nice running Youk

[ Kristin ] says:
on July 27, 2008 9:17 PM

more of that Manny...and less sillyness (thats all I'm gonna say on that topic)

[ Jennifer ] says:
on July 27, 2008 9:19 PM

Manny apparently didn't feel like stopping.

[ Ian ] says:
on July 27, 2008 9:20 PM

Stop sign, what stop sign

[ choco ] says:
on July 27, 2008 9:20 PM

RBIs!

[ Kristin ] says:
on July 27, 2008 9:20 PM

hitting is good....Mikey runnig, well, we scored two runs so whatever =)

[ Ian ] says:
on July 27, 2008 9:23 PM

This just in: Manny takes self out of game, Red Sox send him for eye exam after saying he didn't see the stop sign :D

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 27, 2008 9:23 PM

That was a lovely bottom of the first, complete with dugout shots and some DLP goodness!

Yes, Liza, I see now! :::giggles and grabby hands:::

[ choco ] says:
on July 27, 2008 9:26 PM

Hahaha, Ian!

[ Jennifer ] says:
on July 27, 2008 9:26 PM

Wish I were at this game - looks like it's gonna be a good one. Ah well...Tuesday. I'll be there Tuesday.

[ Kara ] says:
on July 27, 2008 9:29 PM

I think the tv is going off and the radio coming on soon. I'm sick of ESPN.

[ Ian ] says:
on July 27, 2008 9:30 PM

They really should just let Orel do the game by himself

[ Jennifer ] says:
on July 27, 2008 9:31 PM

Fox and ESPN seem to both feel the need to repeat themselves over and over. Did you know that Jon had cancer? And Manny fought with the management?

And that Jon had cancer?

Stupid ESPN.

[ Kristin ] says:
on July 27, 2008 9:31 PM

Lester-KK...and there's your ED commercial, wouldn't be a game without one

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 27, 2008 9:31 PM

Wow...just realized that we're on ESPN tomorrow night as well. Boo to ESPN, but yay to getting to watch. I'm going to do the mlb.tv sub as of 8/1 because I have a feeling that I'd get charged for an entire month if I signed up now.

[ choco ] says:
on July 27, 2008 9:32 PM

ESPN has the stats for every single count. (For example: Ellsbury after 1-0 count: ---, Ellsbury after 1-1 count: ---, Ellsbury after 1-2 count: ---, etc.) I'm not sure if I like it or not.

[ Karen ] says:
on July 27, 2008 9:33 PM

I'm glad there was a delay, this way I only missed 1 1/2 innings. Just got home from work, and getting gas. So happy gas is only 3.88 now, 4.35 was getting old.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 27, 2008 9:33 PM

Yeah, the endless repeating of Jon's cancer story is getting a little bit overdone now.

And I do enjoy Orel. And he looks pretty darned good (in a nerdy way) for a guy who will turn 50 a week before I do.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 27, 2008 9:34 PM

I haven't checked gas all over town, but saw 3.77 near my house today. I actually did a doubletake.

[ Liza ] says:
on July 27, 2008 9:35 PM

JACOBY! And Pedie!

[ Bethie ] says:
on July 27, 2008 9:36 PM

Did Ellsbury just get a double????

Sweet.

[ Lindsay ] says:
on July 27, 2008 9:36 PM

heyy everyone!

I am soooo happy for Jacoby! ahh! And the Red Sox are kickin ass tonight! =P

[ Kristin ] says:
on July 27, 2008 9:36 PM

Jacoby hitting.....another run, this game is starting out nicely...and I believ we have now scored more runs in two innings then we did in two games =)

[ choco ] says:
on July 27, 2008 9:36 PM

YES! (for Ellsbury)
He is gorgeous.

[ Ian ] says:
on July 27, 2008 9:37 PM

Still around 4.25 up here in CT.

[ Lindsay ] says:
on July 27, 2008 9:38 PM

i was so happy that Jacoby was in the 9 spot today. Because i just had a feeling that that would help him! And he has started off well so far! =P

[ Cathy ] says:
on July 27, 2008 9:38 PM

I am liking this game much better than the previous two!

[ Lindsay ] says:
on July 27, 2008 9:39 PM

How do all of you feel abt the whole Manny thing? Do you think that the Sox should trade him before the deadline? Or just hold on to him for the rest of the season?

[ Jennifer ] says:
on July 27, 2008 9:40 PM

See...THIS is how a Championship team should play. Good (great) pitching, good fielding and good hitting.

[ Lindsay ] says:
on July 27, 2008 9:40 PM

I concur Jennifer! =)

[ Jennifer ] says:
on July 27, 2008 9:41 PM

Linds, see the first 10 or so comments. We discussed all that.

[ Liza ] says:
on July 27, 2008 9:41 PM

I've been seeing between 3.95 and 4.00, mostly. The past few weeks, anyway.

[ Cathy ] says:
on July 27, 2008 9:42 PM

I am seriously conflicted about the whole Manny thing. He is a great hitter, and it will be tough to find some team to take him that is willing to give something Manny's value in return. But Manny is seriously wearing out his welcome, and this may be getting like the Nomar thing.

[ Jennifer ] says:
on July 27, 2008 9:43 PM

Argh...Nomar. I hear he's doing decently right now.

[ Kristin ] says:
on July 27, 2008 9:45 PM

DP's are good!

[ Abby ] says:
on July 27, 2008 9:48 PM

Way to get out of the jam, Jon!

[ Kristin ] says:
on July 27, 2008 9:55 PM

can they please stop talking about Manny and more about baseball...we all know whats going on...thanks ESPN

[ Jennifer ] says:
on July 27, 2008 9:56 PM

I know, right? I'm sooooo tired of Manny now. I don't give a damn about whether we have him next year. I'll worry about that when the time comes. Right now I just want to see him play ball.

[ Kristin ] says:
on July 27, 2008 9:56 PM

TEK!

[ Liza ] says:
on July 27, 2008 9:56 PM

VARITEK?

[ Lindsay ] says:
on July 27, 2008 9:59 PM

i love how arod gave that ball to a red sox fan. especially since there was a little boy wearings a yankee shirt right next to him.

[ Lindsay ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:00 PM

i would love to sit in those seats where they just had the camera!

[ Jennifer ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:00 PM

Arod just put the glove on the wall - he didn't choose to give it to the kid. At least, I highly doubt he did.

So happy for Tek.

[ Liza ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:02 PM

Can we STOP TALKING about the trajectory of where A-Rod's hit might have landed elsewhere?

[ Kim ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:03 PM

I miss Remy & DO. No other announcers will do..... Actually lets add Dennis Leary & Lenny Clark to the mix... that'll make for a fun night.

[ Karen ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:03 PM

I'd be happy if everyone would stop talking about A-Rod in general.

[ choco ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:04 PM

Dennis Leary and Lenny Clark! Yes!!

[ Kim ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:05 PM

Can I tell you how excited I am that we finally booked our vacation on the Cape and we can go see some Cape League ball next week!!!

[ Abby ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:06 PM

Kim - that's awesome! Have a wonderful time!

[ jules ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:06 PM

aaaauuuuuuugghhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!

Jon Miller makes me want to scream! Agony. Enough about Arod, enough about Manny, enough yankee worship! Just shut up! /rant

[ Jennifer ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:07 PM

I love Cape League ball.

[ jules ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:07 PM

damn...Lester! he's been doing so well.

[ Kim ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:08 PM

I love Cape league ball too. My kids think it's great. Last year my 9 yr old got to go on the field with a player for warm up & national anthem. He was thrilled....

[ Kristin ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:09 PM

Lester-KKKKK!

[ Kim ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:10 PM

Lester looks great.

[ jules ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:10 PM

Jules, I've never used a Mac. No blue screen of death?

No. I haven't had to reboot my Mac at all for anything other than a software update. Solid machines. I've had my PowerBook for five years now and it's still going strong. I want a new, intel-based MacBook Pro, but I have to start saving more cash ;-)

[ Liza ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:10 PM

I watched the CCBL All-Star game yesterday. It was a great game.

Where on the Cape are you staying, Kim?

Also, Lester is awesome.

[ Jennifer ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:10 PM

-is a happy Microsoft worker-

GOD. ENOUGH ABOUT JACOBY'S SLUMP.
-bashes head against wall-

[ Kim ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:11 PM

Stop freaking talking about Jacoby's struggles..... I'm sick of hearing about these idiots talk about it.

[ choco ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:11 PM

I'm going to see come Cape Cod league later this week I think... My great aunt has a house there. I'm thinking about staying with her for like 2- 2 1/2 weeks next summer...

[ Cathy ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:11 PM

I have a question-- every time the show A-rod he's nodding his head abot something, yet nobody is around him. What could he possibly be nodding at?

[ Kim ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:12 PM

Pedey rocks again.

[ Kim ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:12 PM

It's humorous trying to watch Nady play the Monster / left field.

[ Abby ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:12 PM

It was a great game, Liza! It was nice to see a lot of the guys I saw earlier in the summer doing so well.

Nice hit, Dustin!

[ Karen ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:12 PM

Maybe A-Rod is hearing voices?

[ Jennifer ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:13 PM

Arod's probably telling himself how awesome he is, and agreeing with himself. Idiot.

Either that or he's got one of those ear phones and is chatting it up with one of his whores.

[ Kristin ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:13 PM

Pedey! I think it mat be time to hit the mute button

[ Kim ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:13 PM

Kabbalah ?

[ Cathy ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:13 PM

While you contemplate the answer to that question I'll go practice typing.

*sigh*

[ jules ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:13 PM

I'm sick of hearing about these idiots talk about it.

Fixed ;-)

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:14 PM

Must be nice, jules. I get a blue screen about every couple of weeks for no apparent reason...and with the tons of security I've got on this computer (and totally clean virus/adware etc scans every time), I don't think it's anything external coming in. It seems to happen after my desktop comes up but before everything has finished loading. The "details" say live kernel event, whatever the heck that is. I know zero about software so if it keeps on happening I may have to call the techies associated with my warranty plan...because it makes me really nervous to see that screen.

[ Kim ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:14 PM

ha ha cathy

[ Kristin ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:15 PM

ARod is bopping his head to "like a virgin"

[ Kim ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:15 PM

It really does suck having to listen to these guys the whole game. they really have nothing good say.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:16 PM

HA -- Jennifer, about A-Rod. Maybe he's practicing to be a bobblehead.

I agree with whoever said they should get rid of all these announcers other than Orel.

[ Kim ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:18 PM

I hear the bullpen band!!!

[ Jennifer ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:18 PM

My friend got a bunch of Arod bobbleheads for free 'cause he knew someone who could get him some. Jake (the friend) took them into his backyard and had target practice with them. Priceless.

[ Kim ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:18 PM

Gone!

[ Abby ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:18 PM

There you go, Papi!!

[ Karen ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:18 PM

Yeah, BIG PAPI!!!!

[ Kristin ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:19 PM

PAPI......

[ Cathy ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:19 PM

It feels good to see that again!

[ Jennifer ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:19 PM

OMG YES YES YES YES

PAPIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIi

[ Liza ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:20 PM

PAPI!

But oh well, Manny.

[ Kim ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:20 PM

Dude, I love the bullpen band.....

[ Jennifer ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:20 PM

Hark - the bullpen band plays! I love hearing them. Justin's starting to get acclimated to it. =P

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:21 PM

:::delirious smile at Papi::: I think I woke up the whole neighborhood when he hit that.

And I hate that Cabrera made that spectacular catch. Good try, Manny...

[ Kim ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:21 PM

do you think that they have bullpen band practice?

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:23 PM

The smile on Tito's face while talking about Lester = priceless!

[ Jennifer ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:23 PM

I think it's more of an improv thing in the pen. One guy leads, and the other guys pick up.

[ Liza ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:27 PM

Okay, Les, settle down.

[ choco ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:27 PM

Uh oh...

[ Jennifer ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:29 PM

Wow...that happened rather fast.

[ Kim ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:29 PM

We had seats behind the bullpen 2 weeks ago. It was fun to listen to the band up close & personal.

[ Melissa ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:29 PM

These are the only times I miss living in New England. The ESPN commentators drive me nutty. Could they do any more verbal butt-kissing??

[ Liza ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:29 PM

Shit.

[ Jennifer ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:30 PM

Time to start praying.

[ choco ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:30 PM

I got to let my mom use the computer now. I might be on later, but if not- Goodnight to all! Good to be back, and go Sox!

[ Karen ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:30 PM

Oh man.

[ Lulu ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:31 PM

ok Lester, execute pitches!

[ Liza ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:31 PM

Bye, Choco!

[ Melissa ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:32 PM

*groans*

Settle down, Jonny...

[ Liza ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:32 PM

What's going on, Les?

[ Kim ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:33 PM

Needed that out.

[ Melissa ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:34 PM

Nice (timely) catch, Mikey!

[ Jennifer ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:34 PM

One out down...two to go. C'mon baby.

[ Karen ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:34 PM

I would so like to smack A-rod in the head.

[ Melissa ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:36 PM

Nice catch, Ells!!

One more, one more, one more.

[ Jennifer ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:36 PM

Just one more. Just one.

[ Kristin ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:36 PM

one more Jon.....lets get out of this inning

[ Melissa ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:36 PM

Seeing Traitor Damon in a Skanks uniform still makes me want to hurl.

[ Jennifer ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:38 PM

Thank you God. Thank you.

Nice pick Jon.

[ Melissa ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:38 PM

Oh, thank goodness.

*breathes*

[ Kristin ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:38 PM

phewww....good job Jonny!

[ Lulu ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:38 PM

whew

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:39 PM

Okay...minimal damage. Scary inning, though.

[ Kim ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:40 PM

Very scary inning. This dude wearing the ESPN sportscenter live 14 days sign is annoying.

[ Kim ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:41 PM

Woo hoo Rays lost!

[ Kim ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:42 PM

Bullpen envy? Shut up. Please shut up.

[ Liza ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:43 PM

JD!

[ Melissa ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:44 PM

Oooh, Tek. Wearing the game - that's hot.

(I also love it when Pedroia gets dirty. I heart 'dirt dogs' so much.)

And Drew! With the steal!!

[ Melissa ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:45 PM

Drat. A few more feet on that hit and Tek would have had a nice two-run homer.

[ Kristin ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:45 PM

nice steal...oh my goodness, that skateboarder, just owww

[ Karen ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:46 PM

Major Ouch, the skateboarder.

[ Liza ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:46 PM

Do I care about the X games? Answer, no.

[ Karen ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:48 PM

I had never even heard of the X games, before they mentioned it.

[ Jennifer ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:50 PM

That skateboarder...maaaaaan.

Let's GOOOOO Jonny!

[ Melissa ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:52 PM

I love Jon's funky ears. Too adorable.

[ Cathy ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:53 PM

I love Jon's ass. And his pitching.

[ Liza ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:54 PM

Who doesn't love Jon's ass?

Or his pitching? :D

[ Melissa ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:54 PM

I should not be so happy about the news that Posada's out for the rest of the season. Really.

But...well...I'm not that good a person. :D

[ Jennifer ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:55 PM

Jon's ass is quite nice.

I love his pitching even more.

[ Messa ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:55 PM

I love every inch of Jon. He's to the 2008 Sox what Beckett was to the 2007 Sox, which is pure awesomeness.

[ Cathy ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:56 PM

I really want to untuck Jon's ear in his roster photo.

Yay a 1-2-3 inning!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:56 PM

I was only recently (VERY recently) talked into really looking at Jon's ass. I wholeheartedly approve! ;D

[ Jennifer ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:56 PM

Melissa, don't feel bad - I was happy too.

[ Melissa ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:57 PM

Erm...and apparently my cat nibbling on my toes distracts me so much that I can't spell my own name.

[ Liza ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:58 PM

Ecl, didn't I tell you? :)

[ Kristin ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:58 PM

hey Jacoby!

[ Cathy ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:58 PM

What took you so long, ecl? ;)

[ Melissa ] says:
on July 27, 2008 10:59 PM

Jennifer - Oh, good! I *hate* Posada (third only to Traitor and Slappy McBlueLips), and am glad to know I'm not the only one.

ecl - I approve of every inch of Jon. He's got that sheepishly cute air to him that is just irresistible to me.

[ Jennifer ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:00 PM

Nice to see you hitting Jac'El, but I'd like to see some balls hit into the AIR.

[ Cathy ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:00 PM

I hate Posada, too. He needs to grow a chin. Maybe he can take some of the extra skin from his Dumbo ears and put it on his chin?

[ Melissa ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:01 PM

Come on, Youk...

[ Melissa ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:02 PM

And how many times are the announcers going to bring up the Manny Saga? *scowls*

Just talk about the GAME.

[ Jennifer ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:02 PM

I was raised to hate the Skanks. And I mean that quite literally. When I was a baby, I had onesie that said "Yankees Suck."

Jon = fine piece of man.

However, my pick for best looking Sox player would have to go to Justin Masterson. No, not Jacoby. J-Mast. It's the crooked grin, the amazing calves, the bald head, the sense of humor...he's just amazing.

[ Jennifer ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:03 PM

Melissa, didn't you know that all ESPN announcers can do is repeat themselves? It's a great skill. -cough- NOT.

[ Kristin ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:03 PM

i love to watch Jacoby run....

[ Cathy ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:04 PM

J-Mast is one fine piece of work, Jennifer! But my favorite crush is Eric Hinske.

[ Melissa ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:05 PM

I was, too, Jennifer. My grandfather was an ardent Sox fan and my clearest memory of him is sitting by his recliner and listening to him curse out Billy Buckner in '86.

Jon is a lovely man, but...my favorite Sox player to look at is, was, and always will be Tek. I fell *hard* for him when he first came to Boston in 1999. That may have been one of the Sox' best trades ever.

[ Liza ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:05 PM

Jennifer, I agree with you on the Masterson-is-hot count--I am the first one to defend that statement--but nobody is hotter than Jacoby. Nobody.

[ Melissa ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:06 PM

Jennifer - it tempts me to mute the game. But I mostly tune them out, and it's so rare that I get to catch a game...

[ Kim ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:06 PM

Melissa, I'm with you on Tek.

[ Melissa ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:07 PM

I also think Masterson is pretty cute. But looking at him and Jacoby and even Jon in that way kinda makes me feel dirty, since they're all younger than I am. (Not by much, but I like older guys.)

[ Cathy ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:07 PM

I don't see it with Tek. He just doesn't do it for me.

SAFE!

[ Melissa ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:09 PM

Kim - Us Tek fangirls are everywhere. I see him as the type of guy who has no idea how attractive he is, which is incredibly hot. And ohmyGAWD that butt and those thighs...choice.

9!!! Manny!! Thank you!

[ Ian ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:09 PM

varitek came to the red sox in July 1997, made his debut that year in a September callup and played in 86 games in 1998. Took over as full-time catcher in 1999.

[ Jennifer ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:09 PM

Erik Hinkse is adorable, not gonna lie. =P

Sounds like my grandpappy, Melissa. I've heard stories about him. My first memory of a Sox game would probably be the one I was watching on my birthday at my uncle's house...all five of my uncles (yeah, five) were slightly drunk and were swearing at the TV. I joined in, much to my mother's horror. My uncles were proud of me though - I swore at all the right players.

Tek = amazing. How can you not love him, looks or otherwise?

Jacoby is gorgeous, but I've always been a sucker for the J-mast type. Plus, his arms...and his ass...

OK. Onto baseball. =P

[ Liza ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:09 PM

It all makes me feel like a teensie fangirl (which I kind of am)--even Jacoby's nearly ten years my senior.

[ Piney61 ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:09 PM

Looks liek I've come in onto some "Hot Sox" talk. The ones who talk about Masterson makes me kinda laugh because there's a kid I work with who looks like teh improbably manbaby of Masterson and Michael Bowden. It's pretty much awesome.

Oh and my vote is for Jacoby on pure looks. Add in personality and it's Mike Lowell.

[ Jennifer ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:09 PM

Ah, see Melissa, they're all just a couple years older then me, so I feel no shame. =P

[ Karen ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:11 PM

I would love to be a coach, patting every player.

[ Ian ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:12 PM

I'm so glad I came back to hot Sox talk...../sarcasm :D

[ Jennifer ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:12 PM

Piney, I still mantain the position that Bowden is the love-child of Brad Pitt and Collin Farrel:
http://www.sittingstill.net/photos/08March7/030708_5360.jpg

[ Cathy ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:12 PM

Same here, Liza.

Javier Lopez I do find attractive.

[ Melissa ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:13 PM

Thank you, Ian, I'm a typo fiend tonight. 7 =/= 9, self.

As for the Hot Sox...I'm also a big Becks and Paps fangirl, not to mention Lowell. I also used to heart Trot Nixon (the epitome of a dirt dog) and Derek Lowe, despite his mood swings.

[ Liza ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:13 PM

Don't you just love this, Ian?

But, that said, yes, Javy is kind of cute.

[ Melissa ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:14 PM

Sorry, Ian, I do believe I kind of started that. Oops.

Cincho Ocho!

[ Jennifer ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:15 PM

Javy? Meh...just doesn't do it for me. Of course, I'm weird because I find Jed Lowrie to be incredible adorable and at times, handsome. =P

[ Cathy ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:15 PM

Siddown Calm Eyes!!!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:15 PM

Okay, Cathy...to answer your question, what took me so long is that my head is generally turned by the ethnic look. So I didn't notice Jon physically because he doesn't have that look.

Melissa, how do you think I feel, fangirling about guys in their 20s and 30s when I'm a few weeks away from my 50th birthday? I am such a pervert, I know...but they're beautiful!

And your comment about your cat nibbling on your toes was so cute...

[ Cathy ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:15 PM

Jed is amazing!

[ Melissa ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:15 PM

Niiiice strikeout there, Jon.

So if Jon gets this third out, do we see him in again in the eighth, since Paps is warming up? I'm leaning toward yes.

[ Karen ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:16 PM

Paps, Beckett, Tek for me. Those three in one game makes me very happy.
Bowden, very nice.
Only recently have I noticed Lowell more. Still enjoy watching Derek Lowe.

[ mhcranberry ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:16 PM

Hey everyone---

Especially Ian-- not up for girltalk right now, so let me entertain you for a bit-- how're things?

[ Jennifer ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:16 PM

At 113 pitches, I doubt Jonny's coming back out.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:17 PM

Lopez, nice looking, yes.

LOL Cathy..."calm eyes."

[ Kristin ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:17 PM

things we have learned from ESPN scholars tonight....there's Manny drama...Jon had cancer...the bullpens been shaky...and don't forget the head circling to let us know that's Theo (cause we've never seen him before...

[ Melissa ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:18 PM

Ecl - That's got to be strange. A lot of the younger guys on the Sox are around my age, but the older guys thing is very much a personal preference. Not that our young guys aren't absolutely adorable and incredibly awesome players.

And yes, my cat has a thing for nibbling. He started in my lap, sniffing at my fingers on the laptop keyboard, then moved to my toes and the laptop cord. I had to move him into the bedroom so he wouldn't chew through it.

[ Cathy ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:18 PM

It's awesome to think about what Tek said about Lester only being at 60% of his potential after watching a pitching performance like tonight's.

[ Jennifer ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:19 PM

We have to give the ESPN guys credit - they haven't gone on and on about Dusty's scrappiness.

[ mhcranberry ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:19 PM

That thing with Theo was really screwed up.

I HATE TELE-STRATORS. A LOT. In any sport. They should be banned.

[ Ian ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:20 PM

No worries at all. I'm used it. It was funny to me that I came back after taking care of some things while watching the game, that hotness was being discussed.

Things are good mhc, how are things with you? Better than the other night?

[ Piney61 ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:21 PM

Oh and I think Javier Lopez is up there on my list. Tall, dark and handsome for sure. Add on the fact that he has a degree in psychology and he's on my *hearts* list :)

[ Cathy ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:21 PM

I think FOX filled ESPN's quota for mentioning Pedie's scrappiness yesterday, Jennifer.

[ Ian ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:21 PM
We have to give the ESPN guys credit - they haven't gone on and on about Dusty's scrappiness.

That's because Joe Morgan isn't here tonight.

[ Melissa ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:21 PM

Cathy - I have to agree. Can you just imagine what kind of lights-out pitching we'll see from him over the next few years?

And Jennifer, that may be the only thing they haven't gone on about.

[ Melissa ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:22 PM

ESPN - busting on Paps for having music to pump him up? Come on now...

[ Jennifer ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:23 PM

Excellent points, Cathy and Ian.

I suppose we'll just have to deal without our "State the Obvious About Dustin Pedroia" game tonight. What a tragedy.

I'm trying to picture a rotation of Jon, Clay, Justin and maybe Charlie Zink. Our wonderful farm system.

[ Jennifer ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:24 PM

GOD. Hey everyone, did you know that the Sox's bullpen has been shaky? And that Oki hasn't been as good as he was last season?

-shoots ESPN announcers-

[ Cathy ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:24 PM

I love how the bullpen cop just chills out in the pen with all the pitchers!

[ Jennifer ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:25 PM

YEAH BABY. 3rd hit for Jac'El.

[ Melissa ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:25 PM

Ells! *hearts*

[ Jennifer ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:25 PM

Best fucking bullpen cop in the world.

[ mhcranberry ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:26 PM

Yes, that's right. Ells broke his slump because he was on ESPN. That's what did it, you morons. Jesus I hate these guys.

(MUTE)

[ Liza ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:26 PM

Sam Fuld is my perfect baseball crush: good-looking, smart (he has a degree in business from Stanford, and is working on getting his Master's in statistics during the offseason--he actually interned at STATS, Inc. while at Stanford), flashy defensively, and nice to a fault (he won an award for being nice, and then donated the money to charity).

Enough talking about Sammy--how about Jacoby tonight? :D

[ Melissa ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:27 PM

*takes back some of the ESPNhate for that Tek closeup*

[ Kristin ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:27 PM

yay for Jacoby hitting...and nice foul ball right at ESPN braintrust =P

[ Karen ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:27 PM

Close-up on Tek, very yummy.
Ok, could they please talk about something other than A-Rod or Manny? Not sure if they know anything else.

[ Jennifer ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:27 PM

Nice to see Jacoby hitting again. I've missed seeing him tear up the bases.
'
Bring on the 8th.

[ Melissa ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:28 PM

I was thinking the same thing, mhc. *shakes heads* Frakking morons.

[ Cathy ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:28 PM

I used to think that Miller wouldn't be so bad without Morgan. Now that's all shot to pieces.

[ Kim ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:28 PM

That "fan" is an a$$hole

[ Melissa ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:29 PM

I swear, I am getting the MLB package with NESN next year. I miss DO and Remy.

[ Melissa ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:30 PM

Only One October commercials again? I do believe that one was minus Dane Cook, though, which can only be a good thing.

[ Cathy ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:30 PM

Did Jon Miller just forget that Morgan wasn't there?

[ Jennifer ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:30 PM

My Theory About ESPN Announcers: They are given five or so things to talk about due to their inability to come up with their own ideas. Because they have no idea how to expand on an idea and apply it to other topics, they cover their topics in the first inning, leaving them with eight more innings to cover and with nothing to say. Therefore, they keep shuffling the papers around, hoping to find something new to talk about. Occasionally they find an old subject that was over-talked the night before, and pounce on that instantly.

Topics of the Night:
- Shaky bullpen
- Manny
- Manny
- Jacoby's slump
- Arod
- Jon's Cancer

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:31 PM

Liza, Sammy sounds wonderful!

Melissa, now I miss the cat I used to have. She used to do cute affectionate stuff, as is typical of the little critters. I'm allergic and can't have any more. :( About the guys, I've always had a strong preference for younger men. The ones who turn my head at this point are the "older" players, as in the 30-somethings. The young'uns are cute but just don't look "finished" yet to my ancient eyes.

[ Karen ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:32 PM

You don't need a brain to be a sports announcer.

[ Cathy ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:33 PM

My two year old cousin who hasn't watched more than 2 baseball games in her life could do a better job.

[ Melissa ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:34 PM

1967 was the Impossible Dream year? Oh my god, I never knew. /sarcasm.

ESPN is apparently having trouble with the typos as well. Ha.

Ecl - I love cats, and my roommate and I just adopted our baby three weeks ago. He's still teething, which is why he constantly gnaws on everything.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:34 PM

You know how I can tell I'm tired of the freakin' ESPN announcers? I've spent the last inning or more sitting in here posting.

Guess I should get back in there and watch the game...

[ Cathy ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:35 PM

Jon Miller gets dressed in the dark.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:35 PM

Oh, it's a KITTEN? Awwww.... :::big smile and warm fuzziness in my heart:::

[ Melissa ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:35 PM

Love the old-school Padres unis.

[ Karen ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:36 PM

This is why my dad used to mute games, when he was a sportswriter. He said he couldn't think straight listening to these idiots.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:36 PM

Hey, did y'all know that Papi and Manny are "great sluggers?" :::pops self on side of head because I never knew that:::

ESPN sucks...

[ Melissa ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:38 PM

Ecl - Yes, he's about ten-eleven weeks old, black and charcoal gray. I'm such a sucker for kittens.

[ Melissa ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:39 PM

Come on, Papi, a multi-HR game might distract the ESPN talking heads from busting on Manny.

[ Cathy ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:40 PM

Never, Melissa.

[ Melissa ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:40 PM

And here we go again.

STFU.

[ Melissa ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:40 PM

Hope springs eternal, Cathy.

[ Karen ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:41 PM

Espn again tomorrow night, oh yeah. I will be working through most of it.

[ Cathy ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:42 PM

If they circled Theo again, that would've been it for me.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:43 PM

Bahahahaaaah, Cathy. Telestrator overload and she's done!

[ Melissa ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:44 PM

Oh, and now apparently the talking heads are psychic. *rolls eyes*

Let's just finish this game, please.

ESPN again tomorrow night? Oooh. I'm going to have to make a point to watch. I've missed far too many Sox games this season.

Melissa, is he a tabby?

[ Cathy ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:45 PM

You can only take so much, ecl. And telestrator abuse is one of my pet peeves.

[ Liza ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:45 PM

If Jon Miller's doing the game tomorrow, I may have to shoot myself. Or, you know, him.

Jeddy! Defensive substitutions ftw.

[ Karen ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:45 PM

Oh man, Timlin.

[ Melissa ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:46 PM

Ecl - Not to my knowledge. He's mostly black, with only a few streaks of dark gray on his legs and tummy. I have a picture if you'd like to see it.

[ Liza ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:46 PM

RRG. Is anyone else getting Amber Alerts virtually every half hour?

[ Jennifer ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:46 PM

F.t.L.o.J!!! (For the Love of Jed!)

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:46 PM

I knew you'd like that, Liza! He looks wonderfully dorky tonight. ;D

[ Cathy ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:47 PM

I'd go with shooting him, Liza. It would be a public service.

[ Karen ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:47 PM

Listening to Espn makes one really want to start drinking.

[ Melissa ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:47 PM

Oh, dear, Timlin. *covers eyes*

Is a 7-run lead enough? I hope so...

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:47 PM

Sure, Melissa, I love kitteh pictures!

Nope, Liza, no Amber Alerts here. Must be your location.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:48 PM

I've gotta get up in the morning...can't drink this late. Otherwise I'd be tempted.

[ Karen ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:48 PM

In my opinion Timlin should only be in if it's 10 or higher to 0.

[ Ian ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:49 PM

It's the Monday night crew tomorrow night. Usually Dan Shulman, Steve Phillips and Orel Hershiser and most likely ERIN ANDREWS :D

[ Cathy ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:49 PM

G***e rules, Karen?

[ Ian ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:49 PM

I'll be happy to get DO & RemDawg back tomorrow night.

[ Karen ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:50 PM

Ok, now I want espn bobble heads or espn dolls so I can aim or rip off their heads.

[ Liza ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:50 PM

Oh, I forgot we get NESN tomorrow. HALLEFRICKINLUJAH.

And yay--game!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:51 PM

Oh, what a little waif, Melissa -- how cute! So that's his name, Little Bit?

[ Kristin ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:51 PM

and if you didn't know, there is a NY-Boston rivalry, thanks ESPN

[ Karen ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:52 PM

I get Nesn if I watch Mlb.tv, I just enjoy having the game on tv, so I don't have to open and close windows online to blog during game.

[ Cathy ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:52 PM

What a satisfying game.

[ Kristin ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:52 PM

thank god for NESN tomorrow....well goodnight everone, miss Ella will be up in 6 1/2 hours so it's time for bed.....see you tomorrow

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:52 PM

I'll be glad to get that sub so I can watch NESN and dispense with this stupidity. I like Orel, but other than that...yikes.

[ Jennifer ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:52 PM

Thank you God - we needed that win.

[ Karen ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:53 PM

Melissa, Adorable kitten. I love animals, I would get one if I wasn't gone 12+ hours a day.

[ Melissa ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:54 PM

Yes, Ecl, that's his name. He only weighed about 2 pounds when we adopted him - he'd been abandoned by his mama and her owners. That was the first thing out of both my and my roommates' mouth when we first saw him, and it stuck. It'll be a little silly when he's full-grown, but oh well.

[ Karen ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:54 PM

Angels again, didn't we just see enough of them?

[ Cathy ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:55 PM

Woot! I am going to the game on Tuesday!!!

[ Melissa ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:55 PM

Karen - I am, too, thanks to my 80-minute commute. Luckily my roomie is home with him during the day so he's not all by his lonesome.

And YAY Sox! We did need that win desperately.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:56 PM

His mama AND her owners? That's terrible! I'm glad you rescued him. He'll grow up to be 15 lbs and everyone will laugh when you tell them his name! :D

[ Melissa ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:58 PM

Ecl - LOL yeah, we thought of that when we named him, too. However, we also call him Trouble because he's always into everything, and he seems to respond to both names. He's such a sweet, curious baby, I'm so glad we found him.

Cathy - That's awesome news! Have fun!

[ Cathy ] says:
on July 27, 2008 11:59 PM

He is adorable, Melissa!

Baby kitties are so incredibly cute. I and a roommate, many years ago, adopted a little tiny stray who was brought to our door one rainy night by a passing stranger who found her by the side of the road. She was just a few weeks old at the time. What a little doll she was...

[ Melissa ] says:
on July 28, 2008 12:03 AM

Thank you, Cathy, he's my little dollbaby. Speaking of which, he's after my laptop cords again, which means it's time to put it away.

Night all, hope to make it back for tomorrow's game.

[ Jennifer ] says:
on July 28, 2008 12:04 AM

Lol Maybe I'll see you at the game, Cathy. I'll be there on Tuesday too.

Hi everyone! I'm new here just wanted to say hi and that I love the site! Awesome game tonight, and found the similarities between Giambi's pornstache and this dudes uncanny:
