[ Erin ] says:
on July 6, 2008 7:59 PM

Hey everyone!

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:01 PM

I don't care if he was a Yank, Mickey Mantle was smokin' hot.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:01 PM

Hiya! I'm doing my usual Sox-on-TV routine...will be here intermittently. I'm psyched for this game!

[ jenny again ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:02 PM

well, that was ... awkward.

freakin' espn.

[ Erin ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:02 PM

I don't know how I'm going to make it through tonights game w/ the ESPN guys doing it.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:02 PM

Why do all the national announcers have to remind everyone that we're "looking up at the Rays?"

[ Erin ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:04 PM

How many references are we going to get about the ages of the starting pitchers tonight?

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:04 PM

I think because that team is THE story of the first half of baseball.

[ Lulu ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:06 PM

At Wilson's Farm, our local food store, they have a random mini Fenway scoreboard on top of the wall. It seems like they've forgotten to update it though, because the Rays were still behind the Sox. D:

[ Danielle ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:07 PM

Hey everyone

Hope everyone had a great day!

Go Sox!

[ jenny again ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:07 PM

i know i'm being shallow and lame, but i am SO EXCITED that pedey got voted in as an all-star starter.

my favorite won a popularity contest! WHOO HOO! i feel my fanhood being validated! ;D

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:08 PM

Yeah, Texy, I know...but (sigh) I hate having it rubbed in our faces over and over. :(

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:08 PM

I would think any Sox fan would be excited, Jenny. Pedey ROCKS!

[ Lulu ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:09 PM

Jenny, me too! First world series champ, then rookie of the year, now starting on the all star team! The accolades just keep coming!

[ kristina ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:10 PM

hey everyone....it's Joba the Hut...uggh ESPN

[ Ian ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:10 PM

sayonara CC

[ Erin ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:10 PM

What is up with Chamberlain's hat?

[ Anonymous ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:10 PM

stupid national broadcast blackout. I hate being punished for choosing mlb.tv over cable.

[ Danielle ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:11 PM

Were they just yelling Joba Chew?

[ Karen ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:11 PM

hey all

[ fc ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:13 PM

Well hellooo my little all-star.

[ Karen ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:13 PM

I'm very happy Papelbon is going. Also happy for Youky.

[ fc ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:15 PM

I'm of course psyched that Youk is an all-star starter, and Pedey too, but neither is a surprise. But I'm DEE-LIGHTED to see that the players voted JD on.

[ Karen ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:22 PM

Has anyone else voted on mlb.com today for the extra player?

[ kristina ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:22 PM

nice 1-2-3 Timmy

[ Erin ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:22 PM

Wake!

Youk and Joba the Hutt, This should be fun.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:23 PM

My vote on the AL extra player: Evan Longoria (sorry, Jermaine)
My vote on the NL extra player: Pat Burrell (sorry, Bacon)

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:24 PM

Karen, yes, I voted -- 5 times. It kept on telling me to vote again, so I did.

[ Karen ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:25 PM

Just wondering who people are voting for. Is it so wrong I am voting for Longoria?

[ Erin ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:25 PM

As long as pornstache doesn't make the team I'm happy.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:26 PM

I went with Jermaine and Wright.

Is it me or does Joba come across as a lot older than his actual age?

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:27 PM

Pornstache. Ugh (spew)...

back to the other room for awhile

[ Erin ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:29 PM

ecl-I voted for the same guys. I'm going to go and give some votes for Longoria later on.

Why do they try on run on this catcher?

[ jenny again ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:29 PM

we can stop trying to run on this flying molina brother ANY TIME NOW. D:

[ Danielle ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:30 PM

really im tired of just handing outs to the skanks

[ jenny again ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:31 PM

how was that an excellent play by jeter? it looked fairly routine to me. crisp was slow getting out of the box, too.

quit drooling all over the yankees, jon miller. i mean it.

ughhhhh.

[ Ian ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:31 PM

I voted for Longoria and Carlos Lee. I only voted for Lee because he said he'd participate in the home run derby if he gets in

[ Erin ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:31 PM

Someone should set some flies loose next time Joba is up.

[ Lindsay ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:31 PM

hey everyone! =)

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:31 PM

Do we get 25 votes total with this round?

Longoria is so good...but I'm not sure if I can get past the rivalry to vote for him (never thought I'd say that...I've never been one to buy into the rivalry thing).

Molina has scary fast reflexes.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:32 PM

LOL Erin!

Oh shit. Damn you, A-Rod.

[ jenny again ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:33 PM

oh, ish.

[ fc ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:33 PM

Well that sucked.

[ Erin ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:33 PM

I hate A-Rod.

[ Ian ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:33 PM

for me ecl, it's a new rivalry and he's a pretty damn good player.

What surprised me is this. Lowell finished second in the player voting and Longoria finished 3rd. So why wasn't Lowell chosen for the 32nd man voting.

Madonna just wet herself over that home run.

[ Lindsay ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:33 PM

if he says onbe more thing about those damn camera flashes....

damn it, and i hate how these announcers are all for the Yankees. like they get so excited when the Yankees get an out on the Red Sox and he just screamed when arod got the homer...wtf

[ Karen ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:34 PM

Ugh, don't you just want to smack him in the head.

[ kristina ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:34 PM

fudge.....dam choke-rod

[ Lindsay ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:34 PM

ecl- as much as i hated to vote for a Ray, i had to vote for Longoria. He is such an amaing player

[ Erin ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:35 PM

Thats why my TV is alway on low volume when I watch Fox or ESPN

[ kristina ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:35 PM

i think Mikey-lol got hosed

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:35 PM

I love Carlos, but Pat Burrell's OPS and OPS+ are otherworldly this year. Lee is good, but PB is better (this year).

[ Lindsay ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:36 PM

yeah, i think im going to mute it. i cant stand their voices

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:36 PM

Creepy players who tie the greats in HRs, and the announcers gloating about it = makes ecl cry. :(

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:36 PM

Lowell wasn't chosen because there are already 7 Sox on the team.

[ Karen ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:36 PM

YES network wasn't even this bad.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:37 PM

It's gotta sting the Yanks that they have 3... and the Sox have 7. And in their park. HAH.

[ jenny again ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:37 PM

atta boy, waKKey. go get 'em.

[ Adam ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:37 PM

if I have to see them get caught stealing one more time this series I think i'm going to have a heart attack.

Plus they'll be a nice 3-7 on this roadtrip after the loss tonight! Pretty impressive

[ Erin ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:37 PM

Release the flies!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:38 PM

Lindsay and Ian, you have good points about Longoria. I may have to reconsider and go back and cast some more votes...

[ Adam ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:38 PM

Lowell might've had a better chance at being selected for the online voting if Varitek wasnt on the team!

[ SoxAddict ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:38 PM

I can't remember us ever getting CS this many times in a week. Christ.

Stop with the freaking hit-and-runs Tito.

[ Karen ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:38 PM

I'm voting for the Espys now. Gives me something else to vote for.

[ kristina ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:38 PM

i know we shouldn't complain since we have 7 all-stars....but i'd take Mikey over choke-rod any day

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:38 PM

TG, that speaks to how great WE are even though we're not at our best right now. :)

[ Danielle ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:39 PM

Adam, don't give up so soon

im getting tired of the close ups of ARod - the highlighted tips annoy the shit out of me

[ Ian ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:39 PM

And now ARod will be dealing with a divorce as his wife will be filing for it tomorrow.

She's going to be one rich woman for putting up with his shit.

[ Erin ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:39 PM

I feel bad for their kids

[ Danielle ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:40 PM

Erin, my feelings exactly

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:40 PM

A-Rod is (sadly) hands-down the best player in baseball. If there was ever an ASG without A-Rod, it would be a sham.

He's a weirdo, and creepy, but he is a first-ballot HOF'er and a once-in-a-generation talent.

[ Ian ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:41 PM

Julio Lugo was just trying out to be the Statue of Liberty.

[ Adam ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:41 PM

nice job by Lugo going down on 3 pitches. Keeps on earning his paycheck.

[ Erin ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:41 PM

TG- True. Too bad his character leaves a lot to be desired

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:42 PM

CC to ANYONE but the Yanks = WIN.

[ Erin ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:43 PM

That trade made me very happy.

[ Bethie ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:43 PM

I am such an idiot. I missed the first 2 innings because I thought the game came on at 8:55. I'm such a dumbass.

Judging by the score, I didn't miss much, huh?

[ kristina ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:44 PM

who else thinks we should break out the bugs on Joba

[ Ian ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:45 PM

It's quite possible that Sabathia is only a rental for the Brewers. If that's the case you can expect the Skanks to make a play for him in the offseason.

[ jenny again ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:45 PM

MUTE BUTTON FOR THE WIN.

so ... what should i listen to instead?

[ Danielle ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:45 PM

kristina, I'll help if you want to do it

[ Erin ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:45 PM

Kristina- I've been calling for that since the game started.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:46 PM

Not only quite possible, but probably. They don't have the payroll he is going to demand.

[ Ian ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:46 PM

I'm figuring we missed at least 2 outs.

[ jenny again ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:47 PM

atta boy, waKKKey! (!!!)

[ Ian ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:47 PM

true texy plus they have Ben Sheets to worry about who will be a free agent at the end of the season.

So you figure it's either going to be C.C. or Sheets that's going to get the money from the Brewers but not both.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:48 PM

TG - give me Prince Albert ANY day of the week. He may not be quite as good as A-Rod, but IMO he's a great talent and his character is pretty spotless from what I've heard. I'm sorry to not see him on the ASG roster again this year.

And kudos to A-Rod's wife for finally putting her foot down.

[ Adam ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:48 PM

It has the feeling of a 1-0 loss. Or maybe 5-0

[ Ian ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:48 PM

what's great about that trade is that I fleeced one of my friends in our AL-only fantasy league. I traded Sabathia for Buchholz.

[ Danielle ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:48 PM

i want to be in the Sox dugout.... for the Poland Springs

i miss good water
/not that that's the only reason i'd go in the dugout ;)

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:49 PM

No kidding - Sheets is going to be expensive enough.

[ jenny again ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:49 PM

lookin' sharp, wake. keep it up!

[ Erin ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:50 PM

Is there a link to a story that she's getting a divorce?

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:50 PM

FOR THE LAST TIME, JOE MORGAN: the Santana trade not going through did not "put pressure" on Phil Hughes, et al. That trade cannot be evaluated in one season - it will take six years before the result is known.

[ jenny again ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:51 PM

gotta say i like watching ellsbury patrolling left. i mean, he's no manny ramirez, but the kid does ok out there. ;D

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:51 PM

A-Rod Story Link

[ Karen ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:52 PM

I agree with you Danielle. I bring poland springs home when I visit. I can find it at whole foods in florida occasionally. I know it's good Tek gets a night off, but I'm selfish I would like him 7 days a week. I don't like when Wakey pitches.

[ Erin ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:53 PM

Thanks TG (and Ian)!

[ Ian ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:55 PM

I like Ellsbury out there because he makes the tough plays that Manny makes look routine.

[ jenny again ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:58 PM

ian - exactly! ;D

[ Ian ] says:
on July 6, 2008 8:59 PM

Someone call 911 and report a theft of the Red Sox bats.

[ Ian ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:02 PM

For the record since these two are idiots:

Francona chose Carlos Guillen, Dioner Navarro, George Sherrill, Justin Duchscherer and Joe Nathan.

[ Ian ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:03 PM

AJ is not on the list because it's pretty obvious that the players don't like him since Varitek finished second in the player voting at catcher.

[ jenny again ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:04 PM

jenny likes six-pitch innings! c'mon BATS.

[ fc ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:04 PM

That bwas quite a statement about Tek.

[ Erin ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:04 PM

I keep on hearing about AJ and how no one likes him can anyone tell me any stories?

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:05 PM

Quentin, Drew & Kinsler making it on makes me smiley.

Varitek... I love him to bits, but whuh-huh?

[ Ian ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:06 PM

It will be interesting to see who gets picked to replace Big Papi on the roster. Francona said this afternoon that Milton Bradley will replace Big Papi in the starting lineup.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:07 PM

AJ is a penis-head. But they could have voted Pudge. Or even Suzuki. Tek is gloriously lovely... but he is not All-Star caliber this year.

[ Erin ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:07 PM

I love Tek and all but I don't think he should be on the All star team.

[ jenny again ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:07 PM

atta boy, youkie. good start, good start!

c'mon, casey. live up to tito's billing. ;D

[ Ian ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:07 PM

As I wrote earlier this afternoon, if anyone has a problem with Tek making the team, talk to the players who voted him there.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:08 PM

Why are they zooming in on Youk's crotch?

[ jenny again ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:08 PM

... what part of youk was that close-up on? cup? dirty knees?

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:09 PM

Yeah MAYOR!!!

[ jenny again ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:09 PM

CROTCH-SHOT!

[ Ian ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:09 PM

Tito speaks, Casey listens

[ kristina ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:09 PM

SEAN

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:09 PM

Well that's a little confrontational, but I don't care who voted him - that is a case in point why All-Star selections are ridiculous, and should never ever EVER be pointed to as a reasoning for HOF.

Varitek is a CAREER All-Star guy, but not '08.

[ Erin ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:10 PM

I thought I was the only one who was wondering why they were zooming in on Youk's crotch.

[ jenny again ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:10 PM

hero time, coco crisp!

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:11 PM

This will be majestic, if we get to see the lumbering duo of Casey and Youk trying to leg out a baserun.

[ jenny again ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:11 PM

LOL at "majestic" TG. ;D

[ Ian ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:12 PM

Sorry I didn't mean for it to be confrontational here. That was meant more for my blog because you know some stupid Yanks fan is going to make a comment at some point about it.

Eck said today on teh TBS show that Tek's selection to the team shows you why the players shouldn't have any say at all.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:13 PM

YOUK!

[ Ian ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:13 PM

I hope he spiked him

[ jenny again ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:13 PM

TIE GAME! YAHOO!

[ fc ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:13 PM

Witness the majesty! Well, half of it.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:13 PM

Me, too.

[ kristina ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:13 PM

YOUK

[ jenny again ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:14 PM

nice jump-slide, youkie. YOU ARE EPIC.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:14 PM

We did get half the majesty - if only there could have been a split screen showing Youk and Casey running at the same time.

[ Ian ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:14 PM

why isn't lugo bunting

[ kristina ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:15 PM

now sean did steal a base earlier this season =D

[ jenny again ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:15 PM

the fox guys yesterday were saying we signed lugo for his offense. OOPS.

[ Ian ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:16 PM

to get off topic for a second. did y'all know the Red Sox had drafted Matt LaPorta, the guy in the trade for CC donutathia back in 2006.

[ kristina ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:16 PM

dam lugo...well at least he didn't GIDP

[ jenny again ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:16 PM

fuckin' a lugo. f'real. i just ...

SIGH.

[ jenny again ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:17 PM

c'mon cash money. hero time, kiddo!

[ Ian ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:17 PM

I'm with Jon Miller that pitch looked pretty good to me.

[ kristina ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:18 PM

i think these guys should work for YES

[ jenny again ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:18 PM

i don't mean to be greedy, BUT I WANT MORE THAN ONE RUN HERE.

[ jenny again ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:18 PM

COME
ON
ELLS.

[ Ian ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:19 PM

I think Cash-money was looking fastball right there because he's also now auditioning for the role of the Statue of Liberty

[ krisrina ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:22 PM

so far tonight Joe Morgan has called Joba- Casey, and Molina- Cash....

[ Ian ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:22 PM

and kristina has misspelled her name unless there really is a krisrina here

[ kristina ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:23 PM

I was being Joe Morgan =D

[ Ian ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:23 PM

[ Erin ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:24 PM

Fuck yeah!

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:24 PM

RED HOT PEDROIA

"That's why you can't walk Jacoby Ellsbury"? Really?!? You're not supposed to walk the leadoff batter, Joe? YOU DON'T SAY?!?

[ Ian ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:24 PM

kristina that's why I use the google toolbar's autofill option

[ Danielle ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:24 PM

PLEATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

[ Ian ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:25 PM

[ jenny again ] says:

I AM SO PROUD OF THE SMUG LITTLE BASTARD.

[ Karen ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:25 PM

Ok, I have been in the other room, my brother-in-law is dying. Who did the 3 runs?

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:26 PM

[ kristina ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:26 PM

Joe Morgan is a baseball genious isn't he

[ Ian ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:26 PM

wild pitch brought in one and pedroia singled in the other two

[ fc ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:27 PM

I think those legs are too long.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:27 PM

Those are child-sized, fc.

[ mhcranberry ] says:

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:30 PM

It's a mhmiracle!

[ ecl1958 ] says:

(late post) That half inning was EPIC.

Karen, my condolences about your brother in law.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:30 PM

Hi mh, long time!

[ Ian ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:30 PM

it's like Christmas in July with mhc here

[ mhcranberry ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:30 PM

Aw, TG, you been feeling neglected?

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:32 PM

I've not been around much lately - working stinks.

[ jenny again ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:32 PM

anyone else want a GIDP ... ?

[ mhcranberry ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:32 PM

Sorry to stay away so long, but first Europe, then I've just been in this swirling green haze of awesome for a few weeks...

[ jenny again ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:33 PM

... or a K is nice too! whoo hoo, waKKKKey!

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:33 PM

Byebye, Fievel!

[ Ian ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:33 PM

I'm thinking about getting these sheets for my bed.

http://i201.photobucket.com/albums/aa80/flwldy/Sheets.jpg

[ mhcranberry ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:34 PM

Ian those are absolutely phenomenal.

God bless capitalism.

[ Ian ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:35 PM

they are perfect for the single guy like myself.

jon miller and joe morgan - tabloid reporters

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:36 PM

Those may be the creepiest sheets ever. Actually, they ARE the creepiest sheets ever.

I'd rather have this sheets in my bed.

[ fc ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:37 PM

They're not sheets - they're a cry for help.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:37 PM

Interesting sheets, Ian.

And isn't ironic that our tabloid reporters quoted Johnny Damon discussing the infidelity situation? Ha ha...

[ kristina ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:37 PM

while I know it's because she's exhausted and fighting to stay awake, I'm viewing Lily covering her ears as a sighn even she knows these miller and morgan suck =)

[ mhcranberry ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:39 PM

Joe Morgan gets muted in my household.

Don't want stupidity pollution.

Its a health hazard, you know. And I know about these things.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:39 PM

I'll take for a full-sized body pillow covered with photos of my player(s) of choice.

Ian, at first glance your sheets look like there's a severely anorexic or sunken woman on the bed. Very weird.

[ Erin ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:41 PM

Youk is pissed

[ mhcranberry ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:41 PM

OH NO HE DI'INT!

[ Ian ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:41 PM

wow that was shades of last season there

[ fc ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:41 PM

And these guys have history...

[ mhcranberry ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:42 PM

You know summer is in full swing when Youk's at-bat time-outs become necessitated by the deluge of sweat from his forehead.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:43 PM

mh, what do you think the odds are that Youk has dyshidrosis?

[ Karen ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:44 PM

Who is Casey in there for?

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:44 PM

Whoops, wrong term there, mh. I meant hyperhidrosis.

[ mhcranberry ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:44 PM

Well, I've tried to tell fc about that hypothesis, but she won't listen.

At the very least, the man's got some hyperhydrosis that could probably respond to common treatments... but the Sox FO might have problems with him getting Botox injections ALL OVER HIS BODY.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:44 PM

Casey in for Manny.

[ fc ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:45 PM

I keep telling you guys, that's not sweat, that's PASSION.

[ mhcranberry ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:45 PM

Your spelling is correct. Sorry. HYPERHIDROSIS.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:46 PM

Yikes. I never bothered to look up the treatments for that. Ugh.

[ mhcranberry ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:46 PM

I would LOOOOOVE to meet the ex-boyfriend who convinced fc that sweat was passion.

Bet he's a winner.

[ Ian ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:47 PM

fc that's also the main ingredient in his slump buster drink

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:47 PM

The med-spell comes unconsciously at this point, mh. I did transcription full time for 14 years.

[ jenny again ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:47 PM

atta boy waKKKKKey!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:48 PM

Eeeeeeewwww.

[ mhcranberry ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:48 PM

Oh my god... I'm so sorry. I'm so glad you aren't broken.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:48 PM

His torrents of, uh, "passion" probably make laundry extra-fun in the Youkilis household.

[ Ian ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:48 PM
Bet he's a winner.

That's why he's an ex. And dang that was a funny statement mhc.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:48 PM

Byebye, Girardi. Have fun in the clubhouse!

[ Karen ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:48 PM

Omg.

[ mhcranberry ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:48 PM

OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

DRAMA! DRAMA!

(childish giggles)

[ Erin ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:49 PM

This is interesting to say the least

[ Bethie ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:49 PM

Sigh

Joe Morgan = babbling idiot

I think he likes to talk just to hear his own voice

Oh...buh bye Girardi

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:49 PM

*eeeww to the sweat drink and the passion.

Golly, Girardi and the ump running their mouths are hilarious to watch.

[ mhcranberry ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:50 PM

Why THANK YOU Ian.

fc never thinks these sorts of jokes are funny. Thank god other people understand how HILARIOUS they are.

And TG-- kudos for taking it to the next level.

[ Ian ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:51 PM

gardner is our ellsbury

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:52 PM

mh, I'd still be doing it full time if the practice hadn't phased it out. Now I do medical record data entry for the most part, but still a little bit of transcription when stat situations call for it. And within minutes it makes my wrists and hands hurt, and my fingers slow down as well. So glad I don't do much of it anymore.

[ mhcranberry ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:52 PM

Who is this Gardner and why do I hate him already?

(also, I think that's kind of unfair to Ellsbury, don't you?)

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:53 PM

Dammit. Dammit. Dammit...

[ kristina ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:53 PM

now would be a great time for a DP

[ Ian ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:53 PM

i'm not sure it's unfair but rather a compliment to the awesomeness of Ellsbury.

[ Karen ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:54 PM

Gardner replaced Damon, when he was injured the other day. He's a Yankee, so that is good enough reason in itself to hate him.

[ mhcranberry ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:54 PM

Well, yeah, the problem with human transcription is that a) they're not as fast as computers and b) they're human and have tendons.

EMR stuff, huh? Well, you'll never have a hard time finding work, I'll tell you that.

[ fc ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:54 PM

Well with that sweaty at bat it seems to have turned into a REAL Sox/Yankees game.

[ Erin ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:54 PM

WTF?

[ Karen ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:55 PM

What was that? ( the throw)

[ fc ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:55 PM

eeeiiwww, and now it's getting ugly.

[ Bethie ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:55 PM

well that was lovely. Let's blow that 2 run lead right after we get it.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:56 PM

GORGEOUS CATCH, E-6!

[ Erin ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:57 PM

Did Lugo actually make a good play there?

[ kristina ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:57 PM

did Lugo just save the inning....

[ Ian ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:57 PM

that was a glorious play.

I saw Blue and he looked gloriousssssssssss

[ Bethie ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:57 PM

HOLY CRAP LUGO!!!

Was that a defensive gem he just pulled off, or was I hallucinating??? :)

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:57 PM

LUGODEMPTION! :D

And I loved the shot of Bobby glaring after the play.

[ Ian ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:58 PM

gardner is one of their top prospects and was called up on monday night. and as karen said, he's the one who replaced Damon on sunday

[ Lindsay ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:58 PM

Lugo actually did something! holy crap!

[ fc ] says:
on July 6, 2008 9:59 PM

That catch was AWESOME.

[ Ian ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:00 PM

coco don't help the umpire by starting to head to the dugout

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:01 PM

mh, I've been doing EMR transcription since 2003, and now the "clicking in" and such. I'm learning more of the fine points every day. I may possibly maybe make a midlife career switch to diversity education...in my dreams...but am also considering relocating in the next few years, so if I do stay in the medical field its good to know that my skills will transfer anywhere.

[ Lindsay ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:01 PM

and Lugos up next, lets see if he can do something offensively too...

[ mhcranberry ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:01 PM

Awww, Wakey's so proud of Lugo.

"Congrats on not screwing that up, buddy! Thanks!"

[ Lindsay ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:02 PM

It kind of looked like Wake said "good boy" when he pointed his glove at him...lol

[ Karen ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:03 PM

Are those bugs I see flying around?

[ kristina ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:04 PM

Lugo....is that really you

[ mhcranberry ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:04 PM

WOW!

Two good things in a row by Lugo! He's on a roll, folks.

[ fc ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:04 PM

And Lugo gets a hit? And onto to 2nd?
If this is bizarro world, I like it!

[ Karen ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:05 PM

Maybe he had wheaties today?

[ jenny again ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:06 PM

CASH MONEY!

[ Lindsay ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:06 PM

Lugos making me really happy right now =D
and 2 errors in the series for Jeter so far; ahh im loving this

[ mhcranberry ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:06 PM

what the devil is going on here... this is GREAT.

[ Danielle ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:06 PM

K Money!!

[ kristina ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:06 PM

Cash Money....thats just too easy =D

[ fc ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:07 PM

Bugs! The bugs have arrived!

[ mhcranberry ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:08 PM

jenny---

THANK YOU for calling him Cash Money (who knows, maybe you guys do all the time). I try to use that but fc doesn't like it.

I think it is awesome. By extension, your use of it is awesome.

CASH MONEY, BABY, CASH MONEY

[ Karen ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:08 PM

Something about the Yankees, bugs are attracted to them.

[ mhcranberry ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:09 PM

(insert inappropriate jokes about sexually transmitted diseases)

[ mhcranberry ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:10 PM

(insert inappropriate jokes about sexually transmitted diseases)

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:10 PM

Huh. I never knew bugs were attracted to mediocrity and douchebags.

[ Ian ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:11 PM

interesting to hear that the red sox may have brought in Bonds for a workout.

[ mhcranberry ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:11 PM

I would say one of those was a mistake, but the chances I could come up with two such inappropriate comments are pretty damn good, so I'll stick with it.

[ jenny again ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:11 PM

this just in - joe morgan thinks jacoby ellsbury is fast! also, the sky is blue! water is wet!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:12 PM

I cracked up when I saw those bugs flitting about.

And I'm delighted for Lugo. Very delighted. I hope he can get on a streak of rolling.

[ Ian ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:13 PM

this just in: joe morgan may or may not be drinking and/or drunk in the booth

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:13 PM

Ian, when I heard them talk about Bonds all I could think was NO. PLEASE. NO. I can't even bear the thought of having to look at him during games or cheer for him. Ugh.

[ Karen ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:15 PM

I wish A-Rod would change his at bat song. This is why I'm hot, so not. I'm amazed anyone married him, his ego is big enough.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:16 PM

If Roidy McPornstache makes the AllStar team, I will hurl.

[ jenny again ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:16 PM

little GIDP, little GIDP ..

[ Ian ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:16 PM

ARod will probably now replace Jeter as NY's playboy.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:16 PM

JOE MORGAN. STOP THE INSANITY. GETTING THROWN OUT OF THE BALLGAME IS NOT A VIABLE STRATEGY FOR WINNING A BALLGAME.

[ Ian ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:17 PM

that's why we encourage votes for anyone but Seņor pornstache.

ecl he'd never make it in boston. the fans already hate him as it is.

[ mhcranberry ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:17 PM

I have something to share with all of you.

Sometimes I sit and look into the night sky... with a warm summer breeze blowing in off the lake... crickets chirping around me... I feel that I can really breath, the air clearing my frantic brain, the smell of the pine trees soothing away the stresses of my daily life.

And I think to myself, "Oh wow, the Yankees really do suck, don't they?"

And I feel at peace with the universe.

[ jenny again ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:19 PM

epic wink from tito there. awesomesauce.

[ kristina ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:19 PM

confirmantion of Ians suggestion Joe Morgan may be tossing a few back in the booth...Ray-Rod

[ Lulu ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:19 PM

Reading everyone's comments after coming back has been very entertaining.

Javy Lopez?

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:19 PM

OK, everyone JUST heard Joe Morgan go on and on about how the pitcher isn't concerned about A-Rod, and is only concerned about the batter.... and then turn right around and say Francona pulled Wake because of a fear A-Rod might steal second.

JESUS H CHRIST ON A CRACKER.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:19 PM

Ooooooooommmmmmmm. ;-)

[ Karen ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:20 PM

Mh, I like that.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:21 PM

mhc - it really is a wonderful world, isn't it?

[ Erin ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:21 PM

Wow ESPN sucks

[ Ian ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:21 PM

mhc it sounds like i need to make a trip to the lake.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:22 PM

That it is, TG and mhc!

[ jenny again ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:22 PM

let's mic the sox dugout and have THAT be the audio for the game.

[ jenny again ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:23 PM

little GIDP here ... little GIDP.

please.

[ Karen ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:24 PM

Omg, noooo

[ Lulu ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:24 PM

dammit!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:24 PM

Damn you, Cano.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:24 PM

That was a crappy throw in from the OF. Crappy.

[ mhcranberry ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:25 PM

what are the rules on SWEARING here, TG?

[ jenny again ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:25 PM

or, you know, a two-run triple.

fuckin' BULLPEN.

[ Ian ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:25 PM

well this sucks balls. by the way did everyone see Coco show off his Johnny Damon arm by bouncing it 10 times to the cut off man

[ Erin ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:25 PM

Maybe they should have kept Wake in.

[ fc ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:25 PM

...and then something happens to momentarily disturb that peace.

[ kristina ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:25 PM

F-F-F

[ jenny again ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:26 PM

poor wakey.

again.

c'mon, 'pen, hold 'em here and we'll get the bats out again.

[ Danielle ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:26 PM

Holy F@#$

[ fc ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:26 PM

Or in simpler terms, OH FUCK.

[ Ian ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:26 PM

swearing is fucking ok mhc

[ jenny again ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:27 PM

ATTA BOY PEDEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FUCKYEAH!

[ Karen ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:27 PM

Love ya Pedey.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:27 PM

You are only allowed to use words Josh Beckett would use.

[ kristina ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:27 PM

pheww...nice Pedey

[ Ian ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:27 PM

great job there boys

[ fc ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:28 PM

Ian, I prefer to lead by example rather than by instruction.

[ Ian ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:28 PM

like fucking executing pitches. i was horseshit today. my fucking curveball didn't curve

[ jenny again ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:29 PM

in the words of josh beckett: FUCKING EXECUTE PITCHES, MANNYDEL.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:29 PM

Except the c-word. That may be in Josh's vocabulary, but... no.

[ Bethie ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:30 PM

You are only allowed to use words Josh Beckett would use.

Boy, that opens it up. ;)

Now, lets try to get out of this fucking inning and get some damn runs back.

[ Karen ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:30 PM

Beckett loves the F word, doesn't he? I don't know if he knows any other words.

[ Erin ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:31 PM

He also loves that C word

[ Ian ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:32 PM
Except the c-word. That may be in Josh's vocabulary,

So cocksucker isn't ok? :D

[ mhcranberry ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:32 PM

C-word... are we talking about the Celtics?

[ Lulu ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:33 PM

Yeah MannyD!

ok, now c'mon bats!

[ Ian ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:33 PM

a base hit could put them ahead or a 96 mph MDC fastball could send him back to the bench

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:33 PM

See you next Tuesday!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:33 PM

(whew) Good goin', Mannydel!

[ jenny again ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:33 PM

atta boy, manny delK

hey, when did manny del lose the facial hair? lookin' sharp!

[ Erin ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:35 PM

Why do people like Pornstache?

[ jenny again ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:36 PM

ok, guys. take it to the farns.

[ Karen ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:36 PM

I like manny with some facial hair, little on the chin is good.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:37 PM

Late post...is it my imagination or did MDC gain a few pounds? His face looks chubby or something. Or is it the lack of chin topiary?

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:37 PM

I don't think people like Pornstache. I think people are afraid of it.

[ jenny again ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:37 PM

manny del rocks the babyface, though. (imho.)

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:41 PM

Oh definitely he rocks the baby face! :D

TG, the only good thing about that pornstache is that it hides the nasty scar above his upper lip, which itself made him look pretty scary.

[ mhcranberry ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:43 PM

look, I work in a hospital... I see a lot of gross things every day.

YOUK'S PASSION IS POURING OFF THE BRIM OF HIS HELMET.

I can tell you... that's gross. Officially.

[ Adam ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:45 PM

wheres Eric Gagne to save the bullpen?!?!?!

[ jenny again ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:49 PM

that was GORGEOUS manny del.

KK!

[ jenny again ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:52 PM

and THAT was another excellent play by lugie. NICE.

[ fc ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:53 PM

To The Guy Wearing Lugo's Uni:
Who are you and what have you done with Julio?
And thanks!

[ kristina ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:55 PM

JACOBY....that was pretty

[ Adam ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:55 PM

well lets take the positive out of this game. Lugo made it on the webgems for possibly the first time all year.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:55 PM

(late post)

Lugie looked like he was doing ballet during that last little webgem. Holy smokes!

mhc, that's hilarious and yes...gross!

[ jenny again ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:56 PM

ells just made that play look SO much harder than it was. would've been a routine fly ball for ramirez. ;D

[ Danielle ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:56 PM

Jacoby that was f'in sweet

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:56 PM

Okay bats, let's wake up!

[ fc ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:56 PM

kristina, his catch was good too.

[ mhcranberry ] says:
on July 6, 2008 10:57 PM

fc, you read my mind

[ Adam ] says:
on July 6, 2008 11:00 PM

poor Lugo, he has 2 nice plays and can't even hit in the 9th!

[ jenny again ] says:
on July 6, 2008 11:00 PM

ok, v-tek: HEY NOW, YOU'RE AN ALL-STAR!

[ jenny again ] says:
on July 6, 2008 11:02 PM

MAN
RAM

MAN
RAM

MAN
RAM

[ Karen ] says:
on July 6, 2008 11:02 PM

Tek, may be in a slump, but he will always be Yummy.

[ jenny again ] says:
on July 6, 2008 11:03 PM

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 6, 2008 11:04 PM

WTF was THAT???

[ Ian ] says:
on July 6, 2008 11:05 PM

aren't you supposed to swing the bat when you pinch-hit?

viva viagra

[ Erin ] says:
on July 6, 2008 11:05 PM

that sucked

[ Ian ] says:
on July 6, 2008 11:05 PM

and there's another candidate to play the Statue of Liberty.

[ kristina ] says:
on July 6, 2008 11:05 PM

WTF Manny...

[ jenny again ] says:
on July 6, 2008 11:05 PM

(facepalm)

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 6, 2008 11:06 PM

That MORE than sucked. And what was the point of taking Lugo out when he's having a good night including a HIT and Tek can't BUY a freakin' hit?

(highly pissed off)

[ fc ] says:
on July 6, 2008 11:06 PM

(teethgrind)

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 6, 2008 11:06 PM

That was just plain damn STUPID.

[ kristina ] says:
on July 6, 2008 11:07 PM

Oki=Nervous

[ Adam ] says:
on July 6, 2008 11:08 PM

Manny is like a career .150 pitch hitter (guessing on stats). And how can you make a case for bringing Varitek in the game? how?

[ Karen ] says:
on July 6, 2008 11:09 PM

I leave the room, and come back to Oki. Why?

[ Ian ] says:
on July 6, 2008 11:10 PM

despite Tek's struggles at the plate, he is a career .333 hitter against Rivera although Lugo hits .286 against him

[ jenny again ] says:
on July 6, 2008 11:10 PM

i hate how everything we know - pedey is short, oki's delivery is unconventional - is BRAND NEW NEWS to the national announcers. fuckin' a.

[ Ian ] says:
on July 6, 2008 11:12 PM

Manny hits .133 as a pinch-hitter

[ Ian ] says:
on July 6, 2008 11:13 PM

jenny i was thinking the same thing. didn't they talk about the same thing last year when they saw OKI for the first time.

[ Adam ] says:
on July 6, 2008 11:14 PM

good guess on the .150 pitch hitting. If Oki gets out of it, Riveras back out anyway. Only 6 pitches

[ fc ] says:
on July 6, 2008 11:14 PM

They probably have a canned blurb for every player and are just reading copy. The same copy. Again.

And Oki is clearly trying to kill me.

[ Karen ] says:
on July 6, 2008 11:14 PM

I just noticed that Beckett is pitching Wednesday, another day game. Why do they do this to me, when I'm working?

[ kristina ] says:
on July 6, 2008 11:15 PM

nice Oki....

[ jenny again ] says:
on July 6, 2008 11:16 PM

nice inning, oki. hearts all around.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 6, 2008 11:16 PM

(whew)....

[ jenny again ] says:
on July 6, 2008 11:17 PM

EXTRAS! bring it!

ELLS
PEDEY
DREWSKI

[ fc ] says:
on July 6, 2008 11:17 PM

Oki, I thank you for your mercy.
So does my dentist. Bruxism isn't good.

[ Ian ] says:
on July 6, 2008 11:18 PM

mariano is also back out there since teh Yankees have the day off tomorrow

[ Adam ] says:
on July 6, 2008 11:19 PM

I was waiting for Youk to do a Joba fist pump and spin and hit a home run off Farnsworth. No such luck tonight

[ Karen ] says:
on July 6, 2008 11:19 PM

Zoom in on Beckett, yum yum.

[ jenny again ] says:
on July 6, 2008 11:20 PM

ells - oof
pedey - OOF

drewski - COME ONNNNNN

[ Karen ] says:
on July 6, 2008 11:21 PM

Papelbon, my night has got so much better. Delicious.

[ kristina ] says:
on July 6, 2008 11:21 PM

well that sucked

[ jenny again ] says:
on July 6, 2008 11:21 PM

aww, biscuits.

[ fc ] says:
on July 6, 2008 11:21 PM

damn fruitbat

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 6, 2008 11:22 PM

Okay, the bottom of their order is coming up...

[ mhcranberry ] says:
on July 6, 2008 11:23 PM

Well...

I have to take my leave... I start working a 6:30 am shift a couple days a week here so I need to get to bed earlier.

TG, fc, I entrust you as the executors of my mojo upon my departure.

It's been fun-- later everyone.

[ fc ] says:
on July 6, 2008 11:23 PM

So Karen, you know they're playing a baseball game right now, right?

[ Karen ] says:
on July 6, 2008 11:23 PM

Happy dreams tonight.

[ Karen ] says:
on July 6, 2008 11:24 PM

I just wish these announcers would shut up for even 1 second.

[ Karen ] says:
on July 6, 2008 11:25 PM

Yes, I'm aware of the game. Just really happy to see my fav.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on July 6, 2008 11:28 PM

One day, I wish one of our pitchers would do one of those ball's-in-the-glove-and-toss-the-glove-to-1st moves.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on July 6, 2008 11:34 PM

Fight in the booth!

[ Karen ] says:
on July 6, 2008 11:35 PM

Omg, that was so bad.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on July 6, 2008 11:35 PM

Aw, hell. Pedey might have had that, if Cora hadn't have tipped it.

[ kristina ] says:
on July 6, 2008 11:35 PM

FUCK

[ Ian ] says:
on July 6, 2008 11:35 PM

well that's a fucking shitty ass way to lose a game.

[ Erin ] says:
on July 6, 2008 11:35 PM

SON OF A BITCH!

[ fc ] says:
on July 6, 2008 11:35 PM

awful

[ Lulu ] says:
on July 6, 2008 11:36 PM

Well that really sucks

[ Karen ] says:
on July 6, 2008 11:36 PM

Poor Paps.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 6, 2008 11:36 PM

ESPN just HAD to show that fuckin' stat about Paps' allowed walkoffs, didn't they?

#$%&*()&^#$
@@

[ Lulu ] says:
on July 6, 2008 11:36 PM

Poor water coolers?

[ Erin ] says:
on July 6, 2008 11:37 PM

What was that shit?

[ Ian ] says:
on July 6, 2008 11:37 PM

well joe, Lugo couldn't have dived for that ball since he was out of the game

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 6, 2008 11:38 PM

So close. So very, very close. And there I was riveted to the Papelglare and then that shit happened.

I can't remember the last time I've cussed so much on a game thread.

Dammit dammit dammit.

[ Ian ] says:
on July 6, 2008 11:38 PM

and judging from that replay Texy, it doesn't look like Pleats had a chance

[ Karen ] says:
on July 6, 2008 11:38 PM

Well, that wasn't the first name Joe got wrong.

[ Jessi ] says:
on July 6, 2008 11:38 PM

Between this and yesterdays game (which I was at), I'm ready to break something myself.

HOW THE HELL DID HE GET THAT HIT?!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 6, 2008 11:39 PM

I turned the TV off already, Ian. Did Joe call Cora Lugo?

[ Adam ] says:
on July 6, 2008 11:39 PM

Papelbon is such a pussy. Can't deliver in 1 run/tie games. Has no splitter. Can't put away Brett fucking Gardner who has 2 hits in his fucking career. Fucking pathetic.

[ Erin ] says:
on July 6, 2008 11:39 PM

It loss fucking sucks. Was it an error?

[ Erin ] says:
on July 6, 2008 11:40 PM

I meant "this loss"

[ Karen ] says:
on July 6, 2008 11:40 PM

Well, I got to go to sleep. Will be on shortly after 7:30pm when I get home from work.

[ Jessi ] says:
on July 6, 2008 11:41 PM

Guys who have Bs in their name suck for Sox (in terms of luck) - Babe, Bucky, Buckner, Boone...Brett

[ Ian ] says:
on July 6, 2008 11:42 PM

yes ECL, he did call Cora, Lugo

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 6, 2008 11:42 PM

Jessi's version of the Killer Bs.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on July 6, 2008 11:43 PM

Adam: Sorry, but Paps' stat splits do NOT back up what you just said. In late/close games, opponents BA against him is .166 and his BABIP is just .227 -- don't go all Joe Morgan/Dusty Baker on us.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 6, 2008 11:43 PM

ESPN announcers = stupid.

Dang, I'm being negative. But the situation calls for it.

[ Erin ] says:
on July 6, 2008 11:44 PM

So the Twins are coming up...

[ Jessi ] says:
on July 6, 2008 11:44 PM

Haha I guess ecl, I'm sooo pissed though. No outs, bases loaded last night...Paps against a guy w/ two or three hits in his career...ugh.

Oh yea, and the Rays won AGAIN. I'll definitely be rooting for Yanks (gag) in their upcoming series.

[ kristina ] says:
on July 6, 2008 11:45 PM

at least we go home now.....and I guess we'll have to route for the skanks since the Rays are coming to town...see everyone tomorrow

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on July 6, 2008 11:46 PM

May sleeping in their own beds be therapeutic for our guys so they can get ALL of their mojo back.

[ fc ] says:
on July 6, 2008 11:47 PM

Trust Tex to come up with facts when I was just considering being plain mean. And when I start to get mean it's time for me to go.

I'll be at Fenway tomorrow so I'll be sure to give someone's love to our closer.

[ Adam ] says:
on July 6, 2008 11:57 PM

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on July 6, 2008 11:43 PM

Adam: Sorry, but Paps' stat splits do NOT back up what you just said. In late/close games, opponents BA against him is .166 and his BABIP is just .227 -- don't go all Joe Morgan/Dusty Baker on us.

-Hung the split to Mike Lamb in the blown save against the Twins
- Hung the split to Edwin Encarnacion in the blown save against the Reds
- Hung the split to Adam Kennedy in the blown save against the Cardinals
- Couldn't get a fastball by Brett Gardner, had to resort to his split
- The Tiger blown save wasnt really his fault

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on July 7, 2008 6:46 AM

If you would have just said "Paps is having problems with his splitter", I would not have disagreed with you. if you would have said, "Compared to last year, his situational stats in close/late games have declined," I would have agreed with you.

But you said "Papelbon is such a pussy. Can't deliver in 1 run/tie games." The first part of which is rather shitty (and reactionary) of you to say, and the second part of which is not backed up by his career stats.

[ Adam ] says:
on July 7, 2008 9:37 AM

I'm sorry but Papelbon deserves as much criticism as possible when he can't get Brett Gardner out (I don't care how cheap of a hit it was)

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on July 7, 2008 10:01 AM

I think you're missing my point: criticize him all you want, just don't make hyperbolic critiques that aren't founded in fact. And calling someone a vagina is not a "criticism" -- that's just name-calling, really.

I do agree that a hit is a hit is a hit - doesn't matter how cheap, if the ball is put in play, it's the pitcher's responsibility.

Hey guys,

I thought I would make my first post useful, so I wanted to share with you my review of this amazing guide on how to stop sweating I started using a few months ago.

I hope you find my review useful!

Cheers,
