I never "cheer" against the Sox, but seeing as though they were getting shelled, I was secretly (and very, very quietly) hoping that the no-no would happen. However, I can never tire of watching the Sox hit....just wish they would do it a tad more often!

I was secretly hoping for it to happen...I was at Lester's and I was there last night, so the prospect of seeing two in a season was pretty awesome (although one in a lifetime is still doing well!). Plus, I figure that getting no-hit would have been a huge wake-up call to the Sox, and that it would've resulted in the Sox going on a 20-game win streak or something like that.

I do wonder though, given Lackey's previous struggles at Fenway, if this makes his feelings about the place better or worse.

I was not wishing for it to happen. Quite the opposite, in fact. I was hoping someone, anyone would break it up.

Now if I'd have been at the ballpark, that would have been a different story. But just watching it on TV? And to have some other team break the Red Sox no-hitter streak... against the Sox... in our own park... and against no-no Buchholz? And after already losing to them yesterday? And the strongest team in the MLB?

I was hoping for a hit in the 8th and 9th (well, all night...and a bunch of runs ;-) when it came apparent that a no-no was possible. I did not want to be no-hit in Fenway.

I cheered loudly when Pleats broke it up.

I was there. When Dusty. P. got that singled, I screamed with joy for so long and so loud that I nearly passed out and had to sit down to regain my breath.

I was also there, and I think I lost my voice cheering Pedie when he got his hit. But maybe I just cheered that loudly to drown out the 25 packs of Tic- Tacs these 2 old ladies kept shaking throughout the whole game.

Maybe being almost no-hit by somebody they have owned at Fenway will wake them up, and put fire in their eyes.

As a Royals fan present at the Lester no-hitter, I can only say...fuck you very much.

I have sympathy for the Royals' plight on many things. This is not one of them. My sympathy level is also reduced when I'm cussed at.

I was there last night and did not want to watch a no-no unless stickbug was going to pitch it. That's if you could call what my sister and I were doing watching. By the time the 8th and 9th innings came aroud we were starting to focus on the getting the wave started.

I was wondering last night (and still am) if the last team to pitch a no-hitter has ever been the very next team to be no-hit, and if there's ever been a losing pitcher in a no-no who had also previously thrown one.

I am very happy that the answers were not "Yes, the Red Sox" and "Yes, Clay Buchholz". If it were against (almost) any other team I would feel really bad for Lackey. But against one of my teams? No thanks. And if that makes me a bitch, then I'm a bitch.

One thing I was wondering was if there had ever been three consecutive no-no's in the same ballpark. I would guess that would be some type of record but I could be wrong...

And to expand on what I said earlier...I was in no way happy the Sox were losing, and I was thrilled when Pedroia got the hit. However...no-no's are a very rare occurrence, and if I had to choose between witnessing history, or witnessing the Sox lose 6-2 instead of 6-0, I'd pick history (unless it was against NYY!). They have played like utter shit since the ASB...last night, they showed very little patience and certainly contributed greatly to their own plight. They needed a swift kick in the ass, and I hope (almost!) getting no-hit will have that effect.

i was absolutly FLIPPING OUT when this happened. it was so kewl. I had a bunch of Angels fans in front of me. I thought they were gunna cry when it happened
I aggree i was in shock and somewhat stoked that I was most likely going to witness a no-no but @ the same time i was rly p-oed
And then Youlk hit the homerun, and I went BALISTIC
it was an amzing experience but not my favorite game
I went to the one when papi tied the homerun record back in 2006, and 1 when papi hit a walk off homer in 2007.
It was still great to see a pitcher go hitless against a team until the 9th inning
