Something must be wrong with me that I'm hanging on Beckett's every word while he's talking about sleeping with a cast on.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 23, 2008 1:05 PM

Beckett has to sleep with a cast on?

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 23, 2008 1:06 PM

Hiya Jenny (and everyone else). Am in multitasking mode here but will be poking my head in intermittently today.

[ jenny again ] says:
on August 23, 2008 1:06 PM

Docs want him to keep his arm straight while sleeping. He didn't seem too happy about it. o.0

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 23, 2008 1:09 PM

Jacoby!

[ jenny again ] says:
on August 23, 2008 1:16 PM

C'mon, Litsch, hang something for Papi.

[ jenny again ] says:
on August 23, 2008 1:17 PM

C'mon, Litsch, hang something for Youkie.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 23, 2008 1:18 PM

Come on, Youk!

[ fc ] says:
on August 23, 2008 1:19 PM

STRIKE? A STRIKE? I may go off on that ump.

[ jenny again ] says:
on August 23, 2008 1:20 PM

C'mon, New Guy!

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 23, 2008 1:20 PM

How was THAT a strike?

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 23, 2008 1:20 PM

Well that sucked.

[ jenny again ] says:
on August 23, 2008 1:21 PM

Aww, biscuits.

[ jenny again ] says:
on August 23, 2008 1:23 PM

OK, Lester, show 'em what you got. Three up, three down here, kiddo.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 23, 2008 1:26 PM

I wonder how long Coco is going to let his hair grow. It's getting pretty long

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 23, 2008 1:27 PM

I hope he keeps it long, Cathy. I love the microbraids.

[ Karen ] says:
on August 23, 2008 1:28 PM

Here. Got laid off today. Was broke, before I started it two months ago, so need money desperately. I am so sick of Florida, low paying jobs, horrible economy. Hopefully this game will put a smile on my face, could use it.
Beckett with a cast, interesting.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 23, 2008 1:29 PM

Shit.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 23, 2008 1:30 PM

Oh golly, Karen. I am so sorry... :::HUGS:::

Have you considered relocation? Although the economy is bad all over, but I'm sure there are better places out there.

Dammit...

[ Karen ] says:
on August 23, 2008 1:31 PM

Yeah, I have considered relocating. I would love to move closer to New England, where all my family and friends are. I just can't afford financially to move.

[ mhcranberry ] says:
on August 23, 2008 1:33 PM

Karen-- so sorry to hear about that.

[ jenny again ] says:
on August 23, 2008 1:34 PM

C'mon, Jonny, do it for Karen!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 23, 2008 1:34 PM

I'm in the same boat, Karen, with the exception that I'm still working...at a job that I hate. After 20 years in the South I can't stand it here anymore. I'm ready to leave...most likely for the Northeast or the Pacific Northwest, but can't figure out an affordable way.

[ jenny again ] says:
on August 23, 2008 1:35 PM

Good boy. Nice walking-away f-bomb (I'll bet), too.

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 23, 2008 1:37 PM

Just got back from work - I haven't watched live baseball in a very long time. Go Sox!

[ fc ] says:
on August 23, 2008 1:39 PM

I fortunately can't empathize from personal experience but my sister was laid off and she's been out of ork for a while. No fun.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 23, 2008 1:39 PM

This is going to be a very long game with those calls.

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 23, 2008 1:40 PM

How the hell was that a strike?! That was in the other batter box!

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 23, 2008 1:41 PM

I miss NESN...

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 23, 2008 1:42 PM

So do I.

[ jenny again ] says:
on August 23, 2008 1:42 PM

Hey, when did AC start sportin' that chin patch? Looks good! (Especially with that eyeblack.)

[ fc ] says:
on August 23, 2008 1:43 PM

I'm having deja vu.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 23, 2008 1:43 PM

I think he started growing it a couple of weeks ago, Jenny.

[ jenny again ] says:
on August 23, 2008 1:44 PM

Did Barajas just take that one off the cup? OW.

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 23, 2008 1:44 PM

Ouchhh

[ Karen ] says:
on August 23, 2008 1:44 PM

Omg, Ow.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 23, 2008 1:45 PM

That can't have felt good.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 23, 2008 1:47 PM

Late comment to Jenny: I can tell I'm really missing my departed baseball boyfriends. Cora and Coco are both looking mighty good to me.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 23, 2008 1:49 PM

Hmph...next time, guys.

[ jenny again ] says:
on August 23, 2008 1:50 PM

That commerical for Olympia Sports? With Masterson? WAS AWESOME.

[ jenny again ] says:
on August 23, 2008 1:51 PM

Faith, those are some good stand-ins you've chosen. ;D

[ fc ] says:
on August 23, 2008 1:51 PM

Good lord, when Cora looks good something's wrong.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 23, 2008 1:52 PM

Jonny, please stop giving up hits.

[ jenny again ] says:
on August 23, 2008 1:53 PM

C'mon, Jonny, first pitch strikes, kiddo. Go get 'em.

[ fc ] says:
on August 23, 2008 1:55 PM

C'mon, people - if someone doesn't come back and make fun of me for my love for the not-quite-GQ-material Youk, I'll have to do it myself.

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 23, 2008 1:56 PM

Please make the announcers shut up.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 23, 2008 1:56 PM

Thanks, Jenny. There's gotta be *someone* for me to look at who isn't too scandalously young a la Ells.

fc, what can I say, I'm desperate. If it helps any, Coco has the edge in my book. But Cora does have great eyes/smile and is otherwise pretty average looking other than those unfortunate ears.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 23, 2008 1:58 PM

fc -- Youk, HA! Hey, if I can fangirl over a certain DLed shortstop, you can have a thing for Youk.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 23, 2008 1:58 PM

Come on, Jonny. Get out of this inning.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 23, 2008 1:59 PM

Oh geez, 2 on, 1 out? Ugh.

Will be back shortly.

[ jenny again ] says:
on August 23, 2008 2:00 PM

Get a move on here, Jonny, I wanna see Pedey get a hit before I have to leave for work. (Yes, this is all about me.)

[ jenny again ] says:
on August 23, 2008 2:01 PM

Holy crap, pitch counts. Both starters are near 50. Already. o.0

[ Mac ] says:
on August 23, 2008 2:02 PM

Crap.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 23, 2008 2:02 PM

Get this last out, Jonny!

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 23, 2008 2:02 PM

That should've been a strike out looking.

[ jenny again ] says:
on August 23, 2008 2:02 PM

Not sure Lester's got 7+ in him today. Meh.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 23, 2008 2:08 PM

Sounds like we both have too much to do today, Jenny. I'm running in and out of the kitchen as I do house stuff.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 23, 2008 2:12 PM

Damn you, Vernon. Damn you!

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 23, 2008 2:12 PM

This game is not very much fun to watch.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 23, 2008 2:13 PM

I'm glad I have a second game of interest to watch later...even if I have to endure FOX in order to do so. Gotta get my dreadlocks fix.

[ fc ] says:
on August 23, 2008 2:14 PM

I cannot watch Manny in blue.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 23, 2008 2:15 PM

One bright spot is that their pitcher has just as many pitches as ours...maybe their bullpen will implode?

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 23, 2008 2:16 PM

fc, I've gotten used to seeing him in blue, and I have nothing in particular against the Dodgers. So I may as well check in on him while I have a chance to see him on a larger screen with better definition.

[ fc ] says:
on August 23, 2008 2:17 PM

AC, WTF WAS THAT?

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 23, 2008 2:17 PM

WTF?

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 23, 2008 2:18 PM

:::sigh:::

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 23, 2008 2:19 PM

Ugh.

[ Ian ] says:
on August 23, 2008 2:21 PM

double ugh

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 23, 2008 2:22 PM

I am not liking this game right now.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 23, 2008 2:24 PM

This sucks. Off to the next chore... :::growls:::

[ Ian ] says:
on August 23, 2008 2:24 PM

Well this blows donkey doo doo

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 23, 2008 2:24 PM

P.S. I feel really sorry for Jonny. Up to 75 pitches already as well.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 23, 2008 2:26 PM

Who replaced the Jays' offense with the Rangers' offense?

[ Ian ] says:
on August 23, 2008 2:26 PM

What is it? FUcking ground hog day? I swear we saw this last Sunday.

[ fc ] says:
on August 23, 2008 2:27 PM

This starting to get out of hand.

I'm not feeling too bad for Jon. Not that I don't empathize - this is just 'one of those games,' and he'll recover, he's a big boy now.

[ Mary ] says:
on August 23, 2008 2:27 PM

Well this doesn't seem to be Lester's day...

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 23, 2008 2:27 PM

I hate the Jays in late August/September.

[ Ian ] says:
on August 23, 2008 2:28 PM

I agree with you fc totally on that sentiment. But let's hope it doesn't turn into a beckett situation where a couple days later we find out something was wrong.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 23, 2008 2:28 PM

Yeah, fc, but he can't afford to have "one of those games" in the middle of a pennant race.

[ Ian ] says:
on August 23, 2008 2:30 PM

well you don't want him to have one now yes but it's baseball and it happens. Like fc said, he's a big boy now. Just erase it from the ol memory bank and get ready for your next start.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 23, 2008 2:31 PM

Lester will rebound from this and continue to kick ass and take names.

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 23, 2008 2:32 PM

Wtf? I went away for a few minutes and a I come back to 7 runs in the third and a new pitcher What happened?

[ fc ] says:
on August 23, 2008 2:35 PM

Believe me ecl, no one wants wins more than me.

But win or lose, Lester has nothing to prove at this point, most importantly, to himself.

Maybe he slept funny on his left ear.

[ Karen ] says:
on August 23, 2008 2:36 PM

Ok, I had to take a phone call, and I come back and it's 7-0. Huh? Is this payback?

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 23, 2008 2:37 PM

Cora!

[ Ian ] says:
on August 23, 2008 2:37 PM

yay ac

[ Anonymous ] says:
on August 23, 2008 2:39 PM

Maybe he slept funny on his left ear.

Hehehe, I thought it looked less sticky-outy today....

[ Mary ] says:
on August 23, 2008 2:39 PM

Oops, sorry, that last one was me.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 23, 2008 2:45 PM

Please don't be hurt, coco!

[ fc ] says:
on August 23, 2008 2:45 PM

We CANNOT afford a hurt Coco now.

[ Mary ] says:
on August 23, 2008 2:46 PM

Oh Coco, please don't hurt yourself....

But I love how Jaocby is standing there all concerned.

[ fc ] says:
on August 23, 2008 2:48 PM

Jacoby was going to offer him one of his contacts, and go with just one, like the sleeve.

Atta boy Coco!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 23, 2008 2:50 PM

I missed what happened to Coco -- is he okay?

[ fc ] says:
on August 23, 2008 2:50 PM

Speaking of hurt outfielders, was I the only one that didn't know JD's herniated disc was a preexisting condition? As bad as it still could be, that makes me much less worried. Provided Ian keeps after him about doing his exercises, that is.

[ Ian ] says:
on August 23, 2008 2:53 PM

you obviously read what i wrote this morning fc. It's all about stretching and strengthening the muscles around there.

core abdominal muscles, hamstrings

[ fc ] says:
on August 23, 2008 2:53 PM

It looked like Coco got something in his eye. The doc cleaned it up for him on the field and he seems fine now.

[ jules ] says:
on August 23, 2008 2:53 PM

Hey y'all!

I just got home from playing volleyball with my daughter. She wanted to practice before tryouts Monday.

I'm blacked out from the game--don't know why! grrrrr...

Karen, I'm so sorry to hear about being laid off. I sure hope something comes through quickly.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 23, 2008 2:53 PM

I didn't know anything about JD's preexisting disc issues until someone here linked to the site with the medical diagrams and etc.

Ian, I hope you whip him into shape!

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 23, 2008 2:54 PM

Make it stop.

[ Mary ] says:
on August 23, 2008 2:54 PM

Oh, Youk....

*facepalm*

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 23, 2008 2:54 PM

I see I returned from my chore at just the wrong time. This sucks.

[ Karen ] says:
on August 23, 2008 2:55 PM

This is really really bad. So not fair, first game I get to watch live in a long time, and not good.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 23, 2008 2:55 PM

There are still 8 games left against Toronto?

Fantastic.

[ Mary ] says:
on August 23, 2008 2:56 PM

Wow, I never realized how short Chris Smith is....

[ Karen ] says:
on August 23, 2008 2:57 PM

Jules, you are blacked out? I guess they think CA is right next door to Canada.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 23, 2008 3:05 PM

Would getting just ONE run be possible?

[ Karen ] says:
on August 23, 2008 3:09 PM

Can we leave now?

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 23, 2008 3:09 PM

This is...so damn depressing.

[ Ian ] says:
on August 23, 2008 3:11 PM

wake me up when the beating is over

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 23, 2008 3:14 PM

Did I die and wake up in the Twilight Zone? I mean, seriously, WTF?

[ Karen ] says:
on August 23, 2008 3:14 PM

With the day I have had, I didn't need this. I wanna cry.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 23, 2008 3:14 PM

Why does the whole bullpen always have to catch the suck from the starter?

[ fc ] says:
on August 23, 2008 3:14 PM

This is unbelievable.
You know who I feel bad for? Chris Smith.
And the last game he was in was that hideous start by Dice-K.

[ Mac ] says:
on August 23, 2008 3:18 PM

Damn. I leave when they're down by 3 and I come back and see that they're down by 11? Wtf?

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 23, 2008 3:18 PM

Please make it stop.
This sucks.

[ Mary ] says:
on August 23, 2008 3:18 PM

This needs to stop...

[ Ian ] says:
on August 23, 2008 3:24 PM

i made it stop.. i changed the channel

[ Mac ] says:
on August 23, 2008 3:24 PM

Jed!

Now, please, can we score at least one run? Please?

[ fc ] says:
on August 23, 2008 3:25 PM

Three more innings...that's just cruel.

[ fc ] says:
on August 23, 2008 3:26 PM

Vernon Wells has robbed Bay twice.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 23, 2008 3:26 PM

Of course he would catch that ball.

[ Ian ] says:
on August 23, 2008 3:28 PM

someone shoot vernon wells. i turned it back fc. it was a commercial lol.

[ jules ] says:
on August 23, 2008 3:32 PM

LOL, Karen. The CA is for California, NOT Canada. Of course, I have a Canadian flag on my Jeep, maybe that's it.

Sounds like a game of epic suck, so cleaning the bathroom will just have to be done.

[ Karen ] says:
on August 23, 2008 3:34 PM

Jules, yeah I meant the CA for California. California is not close to Canada despite what mlb.tv thinks.

[ fc ] says:
on August 23, 2008 3:35 PM

It's Bayrise over Youk's head.

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 23, 2008 3:43 PM

My first live game in a week and this is what I get...

[ Mary ] says:
on August 23, 2008 3:47 PM

Oh Javy... my subconscious missed you.
(I think about 2 people in here might get that...)

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 23, 2008 3:48 PM

I can't take this anymore. I need to do my exercises anyway, and that happens in the other room, where I can watch a certain other game on TV. Will check back here after the top of their first.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 23, 2008 3:49 PM

Mary...grinning.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 23, 2008 3:52 PM

One more out, Javier. You can do it!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 23, 2008 3:54 PM

Pffft. I'm back for a few. My FOX game is, unfortunately, Atlanta. Ugh. At least they're playing STL. I enjoy Albert.

[ Karen ] says:
on August 23, 2008 3:56 PM

My FOX game is Tampa vs CHW

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 23, 2008 3:58 PM

My FOX game is the Dodgers vs. Phillies.

[ Ian ] says:
on August 23, 2008 3:58 PM

One of my FOX channels has the Dodgers-Phillies game. My other Fox channel has the Rays-White Sox game.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 23, 2008 3:59 PM

Good old regional games, Karen.

[ Ian ] says:
on August 23, 2008 3:59 PM

And my FOX HD game is the White Sox and Rays as well.

[ fc ] says:
on August 23, 2008 4:00 PM

AMC has Planet of the Apes.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 23, 2008 4:01 PM

Ian, I have a feeling you have a more comprehensive sports package than I do. My regular FOX has the game, as does FOX-HD. FSN has college baseball and Fox Sports South has "not baseball." :::shrugs:::

[ Mac ] says:
on August 23, 2008 4:02 PM

My local FOX channel has the Dodgers-Phillies game on.

[ Karen ] says:
on August 23, 2008 4:03 PM

Oh, Kazmir pitching. I know he is the enemy, but I find him cute.

[ Ian ] says:
on August 23, 2008 4:03 PM

I live in an area of CT that is in both the New York and Hartford television markets.

I have two Fox channels, two NBC, two CBS and two ABC, and two CW's

my sports package i have gives me the NFL network, a few college sports channels and that's about it.

[ Ian ] says:
on August 23, 2008 4:05 PM

It works out great on certain days so I can watch two football games if i wanted. Same thing applies when the NCAA tournament happens and on occasion a day like today with the FOX baseball.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 23, 2008 4:05 PM

Ian, I didn't know that Hartford had its own market. I figured it would be sort of NY, sort of Boston as far as TV offerings.

[ Ian ] says:
on August 23, 2008 4:07 PM

My parents lake house is the same way. It's in the hartford market and also the boston market so they get the same thing as i do.

Yeah hartford has it's own tiny ass market. Nothing too exciting.

[ fc ] says:
on August 23, 2008 4:12 PM

"Sort of NY, sort of Boston."
Harummph.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 23, 2008 4:17 PM

Well, fc...I'm native to the Northeast and know from experience how geographically small CT is. That's why to my eyes it functions as a giant suburb of those two cities. I shouldn't be surprised that it has its own market, though. I'm in a tiny market too...Greenville/Spartanburg, SC. As Ian said, nothing too exciting. Probably even less so than Hartford. And we get stuck with just about every Braves game that is played. Ugh.

[ Ian ] says:
on August 23, 2008 4:18 PM

Is it okay to be happy this is over?

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 23, 2008 4:18 PM

Do they always blow loud foghorns for wins? Geez.

[ Mac ] says:
on August 23, 2008 4:19 PM

Oh jeez. That game was made of epic suck and fail. *sigh*

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 23, 2008 4:19 PM

I'm glad it's over too, Ian. I know a couple of folks who are busy today who will be very glad that they missed it. What a mess.

[ Karen ] says:
on August 23, 2008 4:19 PM

This was so bad, pathetic. Well, nap time before church. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.

[ fc ] says:
on August 23, 2008 4:20 PM

The SOx themselves must be glad it's over.
SHake it off, come back tomorrow.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 23, 2008 4:21 PM

Now I can do more chores. At least I can follow the two other games of interest while I do 'em.

[ Jennie ] says:
on August 24, 2008 4:32 PM

JEB!!!!!

Curses to the computer that closed down RIGHT before Jeb's homerun.
