Anyone here?

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 14, 2008 7:23 PM

Hey all!

[ Lindsay ] says:
on August 14, 2008 7:24 PM

Hi Cathy! I think we're the only ones in here so far.

[ fc ] says:
on August 14, 2008 7:24 PM

Are not.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 14, 2008 7:25 PM

Please do not start walking people, Dice!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 14, 2008 7:28 PM

Hey all...just leaving the office. Will be joining you for the game shortly. Go Sox!

[ Lindsay ] says:
on August 14, 2008 7:29 PM

Dice already had 1 walk. But thankfull Kinsler was erased by Tek.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 14, 2008 7:32 PM

Ugh. Nothing is more frustrating than Dice-k pitching! 3 walks in 1 2/3 innings!

[ Bethie ] says:
on August 14, 2008 7:36 PM

Hi everyone!!

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 14, 2008 7:38 PM

Hi Bethie!

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 14, 2008 7:48 PM

Yay Bases loaded!

Come on, Coco!

[ Bethie ] says:
on August 14, 2008 7:54 PM

I'm really glad that the Rangers have mediocre pitching.

And that our guys have decided to start scoring runs...in succession.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 14, 2008 7:54 PM

PEDIE!

[ fc ] says:
on August 14, 2008 7:54 PM

This is just silly. In a good way.

[ fc ] says:
on August 14, 2008 7:56 PM

And Papi just made it ridiculous.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 14, 2008 7:56 PM

PAPI!

I almost feel sorry for the Rangers' pitching. Almost.

[ Mac ] says:
on August 14, 2008 8:06 PM

JED!!!

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 14, 2008 8:06 PM

new nickname for Jed= Jeddy Ballgame

[ lone1c ] says:
on August 14, 2008 8:08 PM

Disturbing but true stat of the day--Lowrie now needs just 3 RBI's to match Tek's total for the year.

[ Mac ] says:
on August 14, 2008 8:08 PM

I missed the first inning and a half and I turn on to mlb.tv to a 8-0 lead. I'm speechless.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 14, 2008 8:20 PM

It's awfully quiet here, tonight.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 14, 2008 8:21 PM

I finally got home and turned the computer on and found 9-0, Mac. I was just as speechless. Had to sit down and read the plays on Gameday so I could comprehend what in the world happened (in a good way, of course).

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 14, 2008 8:23 PM

Yeah, Cathy, it is. I have a good excuse -- worked late, but as for the others? No clue.

[ fc ] says:
on August 14, 2008 8:25 PM

I thought I'd try something new: not commenting unless I have something to say.

I don't like it much. Expect the drivel to continue.

[ lone1c ] says:
on August 14, 2008 8:28 PM

Well, as for me, I'm trying to avoid commenting too much because I'm frakkin' pissed at finding out that the Rangers have blocked my viewing the game from 417 miles away--in spite of the fact that none of the cable stations in a 150-mile radius carry their games. . . .

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 14, 2008 8:29 PM

I see that Texas has both of its long Italian names in action tonight. I have no problem remembering Saltalamacchia, but I work with someone named Coladonato, so I get mixed up and tongue tied with Catalanotto.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 14, 2008 8:31 PM

fc, drivel on. I sure am, after spending yet another day in "solitary confinement" in a room full of cubicles (long story). Now that I'm here, I feel like I just got out of prison!

lone1c, that sucks about the blackout. Ridiculous!

[ Erin-2 ] says:
on August 14, 2008 8:32 PM

417 miles from Arlington, TX, lone1c? Where are you?

[ lone1c ] says:
on August 14, 2008 8:34 PM

Carlsbad, NM. (Yeah, it's in the middle of nowhere. The nearest larger town--75 miles away--is Roswell. Yes, that Roswell.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 14, 2008 8:34 PM

That was a nice inning by Dice. No walks.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 14, 2008 8:35 PM

As in Carlsbad Caverns, lone1c?

[ fc ] says:
on August 14, 2008 8:40 PM

I think lone1 has been abducted by aliens.

[ lone1c ] says:
on August 14, 2008 8:40 PM

One and the same, ecl.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 14, 2008 8:42 PM

Jeddy Ballgame!

[ fc ] says:
on August 14, 2008 8:43 PM

Take that, Lowrie heckler!
(A guy in the stands was yelling "Hey, Lowrie, SIDDOWN!!)

[ Mac ] says:
on August 14, 2008 8:43 PM

And Jed continues to be awesome.

[ fc ] says:
on August 14, 2008 8:43 PM

Comparisons to Ted Williams may be a wee bit premature.

[ lone1c ] says:
on August 14, 2008 8:43 PM

Haven't been abducted--unfortunately, I do have to run off to rehearsal now, and tomorrow I leave for an extended trip, so I'll see you guys in a while.

Go Jed!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 14, 2008 8:44 PM

HA! to both fc and Cathy...

lone1c -- have heard of it many times but have never been there or anywhere in that part of the country.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 14, 2008 8:45 PM

I was joking, fc. I know he's nowhere near, and will probably never be near, Ted Williams.

[ Erin-2 ] says:
on August 14, 2008 8:52 PM

Julian Tavarez is pitching right now for the Braves, against the Cubs.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 14, 2008 8:52 PM

Nice play, Pedie!

And I'm sorry if that post came out as sounding a bit snotty.

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 14, 2008 8:57 PM

Hey guys, just turned on mlbtv - my god 9-0. It's getting to the point where I almost feel bad for Ranger pitching.

And then I remember the first game of the series.

[ Bethie ] says:
on August 14, 2008 8:58 PM

Weird to see Tavarez coming in to relieve Tom Glavine.

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 14, 2008 9:00 PM

Jacoby!!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 14, 2008 9:06 PM

I'm fried and spaced out...is there some reason why Jacoby replaced JD? Not that I mind, of course...

[ fc ] says:
on August 14, 2008 9:08 PM

I missed that too. Is JD hurt? He's very fragile you know.

[ Mac ] says:
on August 14, 2008 9:08 PM

ecl, I was wondering that myself.

[ Erin-2 ] says:
on August 14, 2008 9:11 PM

I didn't hear them say anything, so I'm hoping Francona just wanted to give Drew the rest of the night off.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 14, 2008 9:12 PM

I wasn't paying attention...but based on when Jacoby came in, I'm wondering if JD pulled something while making the third out of the previous inning.

[ fc ] says:
on August 14, 2008 9:13 PM

Maybe Jacoby was getting too fidgety on the bench and Tito couldn't stand it any more.

[ fc ] says:
on August 14, 2008 9:14 PM

OOh, Youk, remember what you told me on the scoreboard: Watch your language!

[ Ian ] says:
on August 14, 2008 9:19 PM

hola chicas ¿estas bien?

[ fc ] says:
on August 14, 2008 9:21 PM

Why look, it's Ian and his mariachi band.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 14, 2008 9:21 PM

Muy bien, gracias.

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 14, 2008 9:22 PM

Hola Ian - no te gusta ingles?

How did a Texas pitcher strike out three of our guys in a row?

[ Ian ] says:
on August 14, 2008 9:23 PM

I'm overtired so the spanish comes out.

Easily he threw strikes when they had 2 on them.

[ Mac ] says:
on August 14, 2008 9:24 PM

Jessi, because Chuck Norris gave him the power to do so?

/bad Chuck Norris joke.

[ fc ] says:
on August 14, 2008 9:24 PM

With a 9-0 lead I could enjoy the entertainment value.
Youk: F-Bomb.
Bay: Spit angrily.
Jed: Make pissy faces.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 14, 2008 9:24 PM

Yikes -- Bill Cosby looks so old...

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 14, 2008 9:25 PM

I can hardly imagine Bay spitting angrily or Jed making pissy faces! Very out of character.

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 14, 2008 9:36 PM

Dice-K sure knows how to make a game interesting. Easily one of the most frustrating guys I have ever seen pitch.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 14, 2008 9:38 PM

He just threw 7 shutout innings, and I was nervous through every single one of them. I will never understand Dice.

[ Ian ] says:
on August 14, 2008 9:43 PM

Manuel finally cut his hair.

http://tinyurl.com/5hamxx

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 14, 2008 9:45 PM

An inch? I don't know what to say.

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 14, 2008 9:47 PM

Haha Manny - an inch off? That won't even make a difference. I think his hair will always be below his shoulders. Torre clearly has no say in this.

[ Ian ] says:
on August 14, 2008 9:50 PM

an inch can make all the difference in the world

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 14, 2008 9:50 PM

Oh god...do we trust Timlin in this situation?

I doubt that even he could blow this lead in one inning.

[ fc ] says:
on August 14, 2008 9:51 PM

MDC made quick work of that inning.

And Timlin is back in his high socks. If he had ever watched What Not To Wear he'd know that tapered legs make his butt look big.

[ Mac ] says:
on August 14, 2008 9:51 PM

Timlin warming up in the 'pen scares me. Even with a 9-run lead.

[ Mac ] says:
on August 14, 2008 9:57 PM

Bailey!

[ Ellen ] says:
on August 14, 2008 9:57 PM

Who was Bailey pinch hitting for? I must have missed something.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 14, 2008 9:57 PM

Ian - HA about the inch!

My Internet connection is loading really slowly tonight. I about had my fingers covering my face while I waited...and then there was no damn picture! But as long as it's just an inch, that's cool. Trim 'em up a bit...okay. But I will send gloweringly bad vibes to any manager or team owner that demands they get gone entirely. :::still loves Manny:::

I see that Dusty Doubles has struck again...

[ Mac ] says:
on August 14, 2008 9:58 PM

Ellen, Bailey was pinch hitting for Youk.

[ fc ] says:
on August 14, 2008 9:58 PM

Bailey was in for Youk.
Ooh, nice double play by the Rangers. A term I will not be abbreviating any time soon in CERTAIN company.

[ Ellen ] says:
on August 14, 2008 9:58 PM

Thanks Mac.

[ Ellen ] says:
on August 14, 2008 9:59 PM

and fc.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 14, 2008 10:00 PM

Phelps goes for his 6th gold at 10:48 for anybody interested.

[ Erin-2 ] says:
on August 14, 2008 10:02 PM

And those of us on the west coast will try to avoid the internet until the race airs here, three hours later.

Fuck NBC. Can I say that?

[ Ian ] says:
on August 14, 2008 10:04 PM

who me fc?

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 14, 2008 10:04 PM

I lost count -- I thought he was already up to 6. That's what I get for only knowing about it via the news.

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 14, 2008 10:05 PM

W!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 14, 2008 10:06 PM

I love it -- a slugfest of a series for us! A 4-game win streak! Bring on the Jays!

[ Mac ] says:
on August 14, 2008 10:06 PM

Great to see the Sox get the sweep.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 14, 2008 10:08 PM

Heading off to check out Manuel's hair...as the LA game is about to start.

Will see you good people tomorrow night, perhaps not at game time, but eventually. Working late on a Friday -- pathetic!

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 14, 2008 10:08 PM

This was a nice sweep with a great offensive showing. Hopefully this offense will carry through the Jays series.

[ fc ] says:
on August 14, 2008 10:11 PM

So nice of the boys to finish up early(ish?) when I'm so tired.

And aw, look at Ian's "who me?" innocent act.

Catch you kids over the weekend. I'll be at tomorrow's game. Got tix from redsox.com: high grandstand, obstructed view - and I couldn't be happier.

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 14, 2008 10:12 PM

While I think that scoring 38 runs in three games is fantastic, the fact that our pitchers (yes that includes the bullpen) basically shut down the best offense in baseball after game one is a very good sign. Nicely done guys!
