Hey everybody...

Here's hoping Josh gets some awesome back here and pulverizes our opponents.

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 5, 2008 7:59 PM

Hey guys! Lets hope the offense wakes up some.

[ Erin ] says:
on August 5, 2008 8:01 PM

Hello everyone!

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 5, 2008 8:02 PM

Hey guys!

Here's hoping for a win!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 5, 2008 8:02 PM

Hey y'all. Fixing some dinner here. Will be back posting shortly. Hope we brought our bats and execution of pitches tonight!

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 5, 2008 8:05 PM

Indians leading Rays 3-1.

[ Erin ] says:
on August 5, 2008 8:08 PM

Did anyone here see the video from the Cubs game last night with the storm coming in?

[ Bethie ] says:
on August 5, 2008 8:10 PM

Hey everybody!

Joshua, please have a good solid game tonight and throw fucking strikes.

By the way, Trish can't make it tonight but she says to tell everyone hi. So "HI" from Trish.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 5, 2008 8:11 PM

No, Erin, did you? I'm sure it was impressive. The radar was scary looking.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 5, 2008 8:11 PM

I bet Trish isn't too happy to miss tonight's Josh start!

[ fc ] says:
on August 5, 2008 8:12 PM

Hi all,
Too bad Trish can't join us.

Go JD!

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 5, 2008 8:12 PM

Erin - I saw the video, kinda scary. I'm so glad I was not there!

Watching the Yankee game and I've decided that I also cannot stand Bobby Abreau. Every time he takes a called strike, he turns and stares at the umpire. His face clearly says "How could you possibly think of calling that a strike?"

Drew!

[ Erin-2 ] says:
on August 5, 2008 8:12 PM

Anyone else ever notice that when Remy reads the defensive alignment for the other team, the graphic doesn't match up with what he says, in terms of the fielding percentage? He often reads a number that's one off from the graphic. For instance, tonight the graphic said the Royals are 3rd in the A.L. in fielding percentage, but Remy said 4th. It happens pretty frequently, so I don't know what's going on.

[ mhcranberry ] says:
on August 5, 2008 8:13 PM

Also-- fc and I are actually sitting in the same room for tonight's game, on separate computers. How awesome are we?

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 5, 2008 8:14 PM

Hmm that was interesting.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 5, 2008 8:16 PM

Nice job letting Pedie advance to second, JD!

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 5, 2008 8:17 PM

I forgot how much I hate these announcers.

Papi!!

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 5, 2008 8:17 PM

Papi!!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 5, 2008 8:18 PM

mhc and fc: That sounds like fun!

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 5, 2008 8:19 PM

Hahaha Papi trying to steal again...

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 5, 2008 8:19 PM

Papi's got wheelz!

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 5, 2008 8:19 PM

SAFE!

[ fc ] says:
on August 5, 2008 8:19 PM

I think it actually means we're geeks.

[ mhcranberry ] says:
on August 5, 2008 8:19 PM

ecl--

You can be present on an honorary basis tonight.

[ Kristin ] says:
on August 5, 2008 8:20 PM

Hey everyone.....looking foward to a good game....and some serious a$$ kicking by Josh!

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 5, 2008 8:20 PM

God I freakin love Josh Hamilton - can you say HR?!

Texas leading 2-0.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 5, 2008 8:21 PM

Jessi, do you know where I can find a video of the storm blowing in at Chicago? Not essential, just curious.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 5, 2008 8:22 PM

mhc, thanks! And without a laptop, yet!

[ Erin ] says:
on August 5, 2008 8:22 PM

ecl- I found the video of it on the cubs website

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 5, 2008 8:23 PM

Not sure...I just saw a few clips on some sport shows last night. I may be able to find something though.

Ugh, that was not cool.

[ Jennie ] says:
on August 5, 2008 8:25 PM

I'm here and pouting because I'm supposed to be at the game. :(

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 5, 2008 8:26 PM

Why aren't there Jen?

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 5, 2008 8:27 PM

*Why aren't you there jen?

[ Jennie ] says:
on August 5, 2008 8:28 PM

Well, my sister is there and I was going to fly out and meet her but, after throwing down $350 for the flight, I found that the rental car would be just as much. That's a lot of money to be hanging out in Kansas and Nebraska.

[ mhcranberry ] says:
on August 5, 2008 8:29 PM

Teahen.

My mom used to have a tea cozy in the shape of a chicken, and now whenever I see "Teahen" I think about that tea cozy.

[ Jennie ] says:
on August 5, 2008 8:29 PM

So instead I had the most boring day at work EVA! And the remainder of the week looks to be more of that.

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 5, 2008 8:30 PM

I'm sorry Jennie, that sucks. I also had a very boring work day too.

[ Piney61 ] says:
on August 5, 2008 8:30 PM

Okay seriously what the fuck is up with Josh Beckett this season?!

[ mhcranberry ] says:
on August 5, 2008 8:30 PM

Josh.

Bad.

[ Erin ] says:
on August 5, 2008 8:30 PM

Aww crap.

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 5, 2008 8:31 PM

Wow. I miss 07 Josh.

[ mhcranberry ] says:
on August 5, 2008 8:33 PM

Crap throw from Ells too. At least he could cover the ground to make the catch.

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 5, 2008 8:34 PM

Who the hell would wake up at 3am to watch the Royals?!

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 5, 2008 8:35 PM

3am for the Royals? Really? That dude is crazy!

[ fc ] says:
on August 5, 2008 8:35 PM

Yeah, Josh. Just like that.

[ Kristin ] says:
on August 5, 2008 8:36 PM

BecKKett...more of that and less nonsense please Joshua

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 5, 2008 8:36 PM

BecKKett!

[ Bethie ] says:
on August 5, 2008 8:36 PM

More fucking strikes , please Joshua.

I'm getting the sad face over here.

[ Erin ] says:
on August 5, 2008 8:38 PM

3 J names in a row.

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 5, 2008 8:41 PM

Isn't it four? Jason, Jed, Jason, Jacoby.

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 5, 2008 8:41 PM

Edit: 5 names....Jason, Jed, Jason, Jacoby, JD.

[ Erin ] says:
on August 5, 2008 8:42 PM

Jessi- I just realized that.

[ mhcranberry ] says:
on August 5, 2008 8:42 PM

Wow, guys.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 5, 2008 8:44 PM

I love how many J's we have!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 5, 2008 8:44 PM

Yep, the J Brigade, as someone dubbed them the other night. The roster is loaded with 'em. And that's not even counting the pitchers or Julio.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 5, 2008 8:45 PM

There are 11 J's I think. That's crazy!

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 5, 2008 8:46 PM

::Sigh::

Expanding on the J-thing. Maybe Justin Masterson will relieve Josh and then Jon will record a save!

[ mhcranberry ] says:
on August 5, 2008 8:47 PM

ANYWAY!

So i heard some blustery numbnuts talking about trades we should make.

He managed to pull together THE WORST idea ever:

ELLSBURY, CRISP, AARDSMA for Todd Helton and Matt Holliday

That's right, idiot. Trade BOTH our CFs plus one of the more consistent members of a struggling bullpen for a 1B when we have 2 and a LF when we have one for next season.

What a moron.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 5, 2008 8:48 PM

Cathy, the other thing there's a lot of is November birthdays. Lots of those on the roster.

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 5, 2008 8:48 PM

Thank god for Lowrie.

[ Kristin ] says:
on August 5, 2008 8:49 PM

JED!

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 5, 2008 8:49 PM

JED!!!

That's a bad one, mhc, but I have an even worse one -- Jacoby, Coco, Buchholz and Masterson for Joe Mauer.

[ Erin ] says:
on August 5, 2008 8:49 PM

I'm bored so here are the J names on the sox:
Justin
Jon
Josh
Jonathan
Javier
Jed
Julio
J.D
Jacoby
and Jason(x2)

[ Erin ] says:
on August 5, 2008 8:50 PM

Edit: Jed!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 5, 2008 8:50 PM

Awww, HELL no, mhc! What a fool!

[ mhcranberry ] says:
on August 5, 2008 8:50 PM

Cathy--- Wow, that is a TRULY dreadful one.

Why would we trade both Jacoby and Coco? What are they thinking?

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 5, 2008 8:52 PM

Was talking about the moronic trade, by the way, mhc! My post got delayed for some reason!

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 5, 2008 8:52 PM

The guy was a moron! I just stopped listening to him after he proposed that trade.

He also thought we should re-sign Manny at the end of the year.

[ mhcranberry ] says:
on August 5, 2008 8:53 PM

All I know is that there are HOARDS of dudes on the internet (granted, in real life too) who like to air their moronic ideas in public as if they're experts...

Here's a hint: having an opinion doesn't make you an expert. Should be that opinions are based on expertise.

I think they're probably trying to prove their manhood.

It is always fun to rip apart their fragile egos by bringing up things like REALITY in those situations though.

[ mhcranberry ] says:
on August 5, 2008 8:55 PM

TOPIC FOR DISCUSSION UNRELATED TO NAMES OR BIRTHDAYS OR ANYTHING ELSE LIKE THAT:

What do do about Ells?

I think he needs time to work this stuff out... but oh my Lord is he sucking. He's doing what rookies do, but I am at a loss.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 5, 2008 8:56 PM

Some people just like to talk to hear their own voice, and don't really care what they say.

[ mhcranberry ] says:
on August 5, 2008 8:56 PM

VERY TRUE, Cathy.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 5, 2008 8:56 PM

Thanks for reminding me that they're just dudes with big mouths, mhc. I've been known to read opinions on the stats-and-scores type blogs that get me pretty upset. Trashing my baseball boyfriends and stuff like that.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 5, 2008 8:57 PM

I don't know what to tell you, mhc. Ells is making me sad faced lately. That's all I know.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 5, 2008 8:58 PM

I think he should go back to bunting for base hits. He did that a couple weeks ago, and it seemed to work well.

[ mhcranberry ] says:
on August 5, 2008 8:59 PM

ecl--

Yeah, they're generally totally fucking clueless. It's the one area of their lives in which they think they can sound cool, and they come out with bullcrap.

Don't listen to them. Theo doesn't.

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 5, 2008 8:59 PM

I think Ells takes way too many strikes. While I love patience at the plate and taking pitches, he is not walking or hitting. He'll take two balls right down the middle and then get beat on the inside fastball.

Soo close Pedroia.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 5, 2008 9:00 PM

Ellsbury definitely needs to work on being able to hit the inside pitch.

[ mhcranberry ] says:
on August 5, 2008 9:02 PM

And then there's Papi.

His timing isn't quiiiite there yet, methinks.

It is really frustrating to have SOOO many of our hitters slumping at the same friggen time. Feels like it's always someone. And now I'm waiting for Youk and Lowell to have their annual summer drop-off.

Frustration is kind of the word of the season for me.

[ mhcranberry ] says:

[ mhcranberry ] says:
on August 5, 2008 9:03 PM

oops.... sorry...

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 5, 2008 9:04 PM

It takes awhile for people with injuries to get their timing back. Papi should be smoking the ball soon.

But something needs to be done to shake up the team, and give them some energy. They just seem really flat right now.

[ mhcranberry ] says:
on August 5, 2008 9:05 PM

You'd think the last week or two would have been a significant shake-up.

[ fc ] says:
on August 5, 2008 9:07 PM

Thai food's here - mhc & yours truly will be quiet for a bit.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 5, 2008 9:07 PM

You'd think. Maybe they just need time to adjust to having Bay and not Manny.

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 5, 2008 9:07 PM

I agree, Cathy, about Papi. It is driving me nuts that so many are claiming that Manny's departure is hurting Papi at the plate. They completely ignore the fact that he just came off the DL.

[ Kristin ] says:
on August 5, 2008 9:08 PM

BecKKKKKett....I like this Josh much better than 1st inning Josh

[ Erin ] says:
on August 5, 2008 9:08 PM

Now if only the bats can do something

[ Bethie ] says:
on August 5, 2008 9:09 PM

We need about 6 more half innings like that one.

And more productive half innings for our bats.

[ Kristin ] says:
on August 5, 2008 9:12 PM

BAY!

[ Erin ] says:
on August 5, 2008 9:12 PM

Jason!

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 5, 2008 9:13 PM

Yay a baserunner! Please don't strand him!

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 5, 2008 9:13 PM

J-BAY!!!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 5, 2008 9:13 PM

Now THAT'S what I'm talkin' about!

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 5, 2008 9:13 PM

BAY!!!!

Aww Mikey running. :(

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 5, 2008 9:14 PM

I miss Billy :(

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 5, 2008 9:27 PM

:::crickets and cicadas:::

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 5, 2008 9:27 PM

Did I scare everybody away?

[ Kristin ] says:
on August 5, 2008 9:28 PM

I was getting a snack....Jacoby on base...YAY

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 5, 2008 9:28 PM

A hit for Jacoby!!

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 5, 2008 9:29 PM

Yay Jacoby!

[ Kristin ] says:
on August 5, 2008 9:30 PM

and a steal...it's been a while!

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 5, 2008 9:30 PM

Yes! I have missed those stolen bases!

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 5, 2008 9:32 PM

When was Jacoby's last SB? June?

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 5, 2008 9:32 PM

He must have heard us talking about him.

[ Kristin ] says:
on August 5, 2008 9:33 PM

PEDIE!

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 5, 2008 9:33 PM

I freakin love Jacoby's speed.

[ Bethie ] says:
on August 5, 2008 9:34 PM

Damn, he's fast.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 5, 2008 9:34 PM

MLB.tv picked a fine time to totally flake out on me...must be the weather in Houston that the announcers were talking about earlier.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 5, 2008 9:34 PM

PEDIE! JACOBY!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 5, 2008 9:36 PM

Now I wish I had seen that...

:::growling at mlb.com while trying to get it working again:::

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 5, 2008 9:43 PM

Well okay, one run is better than none.

[ Kristin ] says:
on August 5, 2008 9:44 PM

Well I was hoping for more, but at least we got one

[ Bethie ] says:
on August 5, 2008 9:45 PM

Welcome to my world faith. :)

MLBtv is great and worth the money. When it works.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 5, 2008 9:45 PM

1 run is better than nothing.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 5, 2008 9:49 PM

"baseball circumstance" WTF???

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 5, 2008 9:51 PM

I think two players running into each other should probably count as an error.

They probably just gave him the hit cause they didn't know who to score the error on.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 5, 2008 9:51 PM

So Bethie, it's not just me? And here I was blaming it ALL on my computer being cranky this evening.

Actually, I'm probably up a creek now, because my Explorer window that had mlb.com open just crashed and restarted, which means I didn't log out properly and will probably get the "logged in on multiple computers" message. Oh goody...

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 5, 2008 9:51 PM

Did I miss another Keystone Kops moment?

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 5, 2008 9:52 PM

I've only had one problem with mlbtv and that was the other night. And I use it every night since I don't get NESN.

Right now, it's working for me

[ Anonymous ] says:
on August 5, 2008 9:52 PM

"Just because a baseball team has a lot of errors doesn't mean that they aren't a good fielding team" Uh...yes it does.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 5, 2008 9:53 PM

Sorry, the anon. was me.

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 5, 2008 9:53 PM

Texas leads 5-1.

[ fc ] says:
on August 5, 2008 9:54 PM

Crowd to Bay: "You're not Manny."
Bay: base hit.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 5, 2008 9:55 PM

I'm back on tv. Fortunately.

[ Kirstin ] says:
on August 5, 2008 9:56 PM

Tek!...Jason's on the corners

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 5, 2008 9:56 PM

The fans chanting "you're not manny" need to shut the fuck up right now.

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 5, 2008 9:56 PM

Aw Tek - he makes me smile whenever he hits.

[ Bethie ] says:
on August 5, 2008 9:56 PM

Dude, I love this first to third thing with Bay.

He can flat out haul ass.

[ lone1c ] says:
on August 5, 2008 9:57 PM

Hmm--Bay seemed to be on second by the time Tek got out of the batter's box.

Think he likes to run?

[ Erin ] says:
on August 5, 2008 9:57 PM

Jacoby!

[ fc ] says:
on August 5, 2008 9:57 PM

Perhaps Ells has found the answser to mhc's question.

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 5, 2008 9:57 PM

Back-to-back hits from Tek and Ells?!!! Unbelievable.

[ Bethie ] says:
on August 5, 2008 9:57 PM

Tek and Jacoby with back to back hits???

LOVE IT!!!

[ Erin ] says:
on August 5, 2008 9:58 PM

The J names are at bat this inning I just realized

[ Kristin ] says:
on August 5, 2008 9:58 PM

2 hits and a steal for Jacoby...things are looking up

[ lone1c ] says:
on August 5, 2008 9:58 PM

Now how 'bout a Tek and Ellsbury double steal? :-)

[ fc ] says:
on August 5, 2008 9:58 PM

lone: He's not Manny (with all due respect).

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 5, 2008 9:58 PM

Looks like they listened to our exhortations to bring their bats!

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 5, 2008 10:00 PM

Hey guys - did you know Pedroia is small? Shock of the year.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 5, 2008 10:00 PM

Pedie is small, we get it!

[ Erin ] says:
on August 5, 2008 10:00 PM

Are they saying that on the KC broadcast?

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 5, 2008 10:01 PM

Yes they are.

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 5, 2008 10:02 PM

Yes, they are discussing how despite Pedroia's small size he is in fact a good hitter!

Woot Jacoby!

[ mhcranberry ] says:
on August 5, 2008 10:03 PM

Wait... that guy is SHORT!?

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 5, 2008 10:03 PM

Most beaten down story of the year:

A. Pedie's height
B. Brett Favre
C. Manny

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 5, 2008 10:04 PM

Aww Jacoby, that's ok.

At least we got a run!

[ lone1c ] says:
on August 5, 2008 10:04 PM

fc: I know what you mean--I loved Manny, but I can definitely appreciate having Sox players who run the bases well.

(Of course, I type this just as Ellsbury gets nailed at home plate. D'oh!)

[ Kristin ] says:
on August 5, 2008 10:04 PM

Now is that more steal tonight then he had all last month! And more Pedie hitting goodness!

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 5, 2008 10:04 PM

Cathy, lets add Tek's slump and Giambi's stache to that!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 5, 2008 10:06 PM

Well, at least Tek got in, and I give Jacoby an E for effort.

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 5, 2008 10:08 PM

Yea we got lucky with that bobble at 3B so I'll take the run.

[ fc ] says:
on August 5, 2008 10:09 PM

No reason to be saying "Well, at least" anything - Tek and Jacoby are hitting, Jacoby's stealing, Josh is getting K's and we're up by 4.

[ Kristin ] says:
on August 5, 2008 10:09 PM

That was a nice quick inning!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 5, 2008 10:13 PM

Sorry, fc. My bad.

[ fc ] says:
on August 5, 2008 10:14 PM

No one's "bad" ecl - just good times, people, good times.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 5, 2008 10:14 PM

Yeah, Sox fans 'all of a sudden" showed up!

[ Erin ] says:
on August 5, 2008 10:14 PM

Youk!

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 5, 2008 10:15 PM

Aw Erin, I saw your post before the hit and thought Youk had hit a HR. Though, a double ain't too bad either!

[ Erin ] says:
on August 5, 2008 10:17 PM

Well Youk is on my fantasy team so I'm happy when he gets a hit.

What was that?

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 5, 2008 10:17 PM

Bay!!! That was soooo weird.

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 5, 2008 10:18 PM

They think that Damon play was bizarre, this will be showed on ESPN til the night ends.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 5, 2008 10:18 PM

Wow.

[ Jennie ] says:
on August 5, 2008 10:18 PM

Wow! Crazy play!

[ fc ] says:
on August 5, 2008 10:18 PM

That was Jason Bay's Youk impression. Sans wounding Johnny Damon. And I'll take it.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 5, 2008 10:18 PM

Uh, that was very weird.

[ Kristin ] says:
on August 5, 2008 10:19 PM

That was interesting.....but J BAY!...and JED

[ Erin ] says:

Jed!

I think I'm in love with him.

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 5, 2008 10:20 PM

Ok that worked out well. I am perfectly fine with Lowrie hitting a triple and bringing in two runs.

[ lone1c ] says:
on August 5, 2008 10:20 PM

Now we know what happened--Jason wanted to save a few RBI's for Jed. :-)

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 5, 2008 10:20 PM

Sweeeet!

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 5, 2008 10:20 PM

Also, I NEVER want to see Lugo play again.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 5, 2008 10:20 PM

JED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

[ Anonymous ] says:
on August 5, 2008 10:21 PM

Jason and Jed - deadly combo.

[ Kristin ] says:
on August 5, 2008 10:21 PM

J-Bay has love for his long lost little brother

[ Erin ] says:
on August 5, 2008 10:22 PM

I know this been said before but from a distance Jason and Jed look like brothers.

[ Bethie ] says:
on August 5, 2008 10:22 PM

That figures. I go take a shower and they score 3 runs while I'm gone. :)

I'll take it though.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 5, 2008 10:23 PM

Bethie, you may need to take a shower at this exact same time every game day.

[ Bethie ] says:
on August 5, 2008 10:24 PM

Cathy, I'll do whatever I have to if it means a win.

[ Kristin ] says:
on August 5, 2008 10:30 PM

BecKKKKKKett!

[ fc ] says:
on August 5, 2008 10:33 PM

Did I see Timlin without his high socks?

[ Bethie ] says:
on August 5, 2008 10:38 PM

I'm so happy to see Josh have a good outing and have the run support at the same time.

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 5, 2008 10:39 PM

I love seeing Timlin pitch when we have a 7-run lead. It makes everything so much easier.

Though I have to admit he has been better recently.

[ Kristin ] says:
on August 5, 2008 10:39 PM

good bounce back for BecKKKKKKKett after that crazyness against LA.....

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 5, 2008 10:40 PM

Why isn't Timlin wearing the high socks? I love high socks.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 5, 2008 10:41 PM

Looks like I'm stuck with just Gameday graphics for the duration. Media player froze up and wouldn't refresh, I exited in the manner that the techies had directed, even logged out of mlb.com, and am still being told I'm trying to log in on multiple computers. :::inserts a bunch of cuss words:::

So y'all will have to fill me in on any great visuals that I miss.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on August 5, 2008 10:48 PM

I HAD TO WORK LATE AND MISSED THE ENTIRETY OF BECKETT NIGHT.

I am not happy about this.

[ mhcranberry ] says:
on August 5, 2008 10:50 PM

TEX!

We missed you.

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 5, 2008 10:50 PM

Texas leads 8-2 in the bottom of the 7th.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 5, 2008 10:51 PM

And TB is up 8-4 in the top of the 9th.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on August 5, 2008 10:53 PM

I missed me, too.

I see the peptalk I gave to Joshua worked out ok.

[ mhcranberry ] says:
on August 5, 2008 10:54 PM

"peptalk" eh?

[ Bethie ] says:
on August 5, 2008 10:54 PM

Pep talk? You sure you didn't give him a swift kick in the ass?

Cause he looked really good tonight.

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 5, 2008 10:55 PM

TG - the peptalk was very much appreciated. Could you give one to Clay next time?

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on August 5, 2008 10:57 PM

I reserve my peptalks for Josh and Jon.

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 5, 2008 11:00 PM

And that explains why Jon as been so ace-like lately!

[ Kristin ] says:
on August 5, 2008 11:04 PM

4 hits for Bay...yep, he's a keeper!

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 5, 2008 11:04 PM

So, I really like this kid called Jason Bay.

Four-hits? I think yes!

[ lone1c ] says:
on August 5, 2008 11:05 PM

Lovely visual--Tito and Lester having a father-son moment on the dugout stairs.

Not-so-lovely audio: the @$)%*! KC announcers smacking down Manny.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 5, 2008 11:06 PM

:::growls protectively at the KC announcers:::

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 5, 2008 11:07 PM

Shit. Sexson just hit a grand slam. Now 8-6.

[ Bethie ] says:
on August 5, 2008 11:08 PM

They apparently don't care for Manny. *eye roll*

And they think Pedroia is short. *double eye roll*

Hmmmm. They need to find better topics for discussion, like, oh I don't know. Maybe what's taking place on the field???

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 5, 2008 11:11 PM

Don't forget that Tek is in a slump, and the center field wall is thick because of the new scoreboard.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 5, 2008 11:12 PM

And they spent an inordinate amount of time interviewing that guy in the dugout who is on the DL, while ignoring the game itself.

[ lone1c ] says:
on August 5, 2008 11:12 PM

WOOT!

[ mhcranberry ] says:
on August 5, 2008 11:12 PM

Huzzah! Victory!

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 5, 2008 11:13 PM

Yay =]

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 5, 2008 11:13 PM

Glad that it went our way tonight!

[ Kristin ] says:
on August 5, 2008 11:13 PM

A win (and on the road too)
K's and run support for Mr. Beckett
Jacoby stealing bases
13 hits...
the world seems right again!

[ fc ] says:
on August 5, 2008 11:13 PM

And Josh gets a well-earned W.
Watercoolers everywhere are safe.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 5, 2008 11:14 PM

Yay a road win!!!!

[ Bethie ] says:
on August 5, 2008 11:15 PM

Yes faith. I especially enjoyed the "let's talk to a DL player" picture-in-picture.

But, we got the win. So one more night of these wonderful baseball analysts. And a W for Joshua!! YAY.

Night all! See you tomorrow night.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 5, 2008 11:15 PM

I'm gonna be sensible again and go straight to bed. Hopefully shutting off the computer and disconnecting my Internet connection overnight will convince mlb.com that I am, in fact, NOT logged in on multiple computers. I'd really like to watch the game tomorrow night. :::shuffles off to the bedroom:::

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on August 5, 2008 11:30 PM

ECL!

If you get that error, you HAVE to call MLB tech support to get it fixed.
