Gameday Open Thread: White Sox - Labor Day Weekend

Your trusty Texy is headed off to Chicago to see the other Chicago team play at Wrigley over the long holiday weekend. My flight leaves Boston at 5pm, so I anticipate being too drunk to post here beginning at 4:59 pm. Oh, who am I kidding, I'm already too drunk to post here now (thank you long lunch today at Stephanie's on Newbury).

Please feel free to use this open gameday thread for the games tonight, tomorrow and Sunday. And everyone - be safe and have a fantastic Labor Day weekend! See you on Monday...

vs. Chicago White Sox
Fenway Park - Boston, MA
SP: Daisuke Matsuzaka - David Pauley - Tim Wakefield

(Warning--full of ifs:)

Texy, if you check this, and if Sam Fuld is called up when the rosters expand, can I put in a request for pictures of him? Thanks a bunch in advance...

Are those rain clouds in Boston, or is it already getting dark there?

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 29, 2008 7:35 PM

It had better not rain.

[ Cathy ] says:

[ Karen ] says:
on August 29, 2008 7:37 PM

[ Mac ] says:
on August 29, 2008 7:37 PM

Dammit Dye. Robbing Jed of what could've been his first homer at Fenway.

[ Karen ] says:
on August 29, 2008 7:47 PM

Maybe there team needs a cookie bake-off like the Sox have, to fatten him up.

[ Mac ] says:
on August 29, 2008 7:47 PM

Erin - I haven't heard of any yet.

[ jenny again ] says:
on August 29, 2008 7:48 PM

Ells cut his hair, didn't he. I'm also fairly certain we watched him spit out a mouthful of dirt after that awesome catch in the first. Yes?

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 29, 2008 7:49 PM

I think he did, Jenny. And I think he did get a mouthful of dirt.

[ Karen ] says:
on August 29, 2008 7:51 PM

Spitting, and adjusting himself.

[ Erin ] says:
on August 29, 2008 7:51 PM

Mac- Thanks. I've been away from watching baseball for the past week watching the convention (I'm a slight political junkie)

I thought I saw Ells spit some dirt out of his mouth.

[ Mac ] says:
on August 29, 2008 7:52 PM

jenny - Did he? I didn't notice it too much. And yes, I believe he did have a mouthful of dirt after that amazing catch.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 29, 2008 7:52 PM

PEDIE!!!

[ Kristin ] says:

[ Karen ] says:
on August 29, 2008 7:55 PM

What's with all the bugs?

[ Kristin ] says:
on August 29, 2008 7:56 PM

Cleveland sent up their bugs

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 29, 2008 7:57 PM

Did we somehow get transported to Cleveland?

[ Karen ] says:
on August 29, 2008 7:57 PM

Yeah, I thought only Yankees brought bugs.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 29, 2008 7:58 PM

Now that they said that on the air, I'm sure she will take them away.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 29, 2008 7:58 PM

Ahahahaaaa, Cathy!

[ Mac ] says:
on August 29, 2008 7:59 PM

Cathy - +1.

That was nice of her, though.

[ Erin ] says:
on August 29, 2008 7:59 PM

Do Don and Jerry have cookies?

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 29, 2008 8:00 PM

Well, Don has cookies. It's doubtful whether or not he's going to share them.

[ Karen ] says:
on August 29, 2008 8:00 PM

She reminds me of my mother. My mother bakes cookies for everyone, including the different tv shows, when my sister was acting.

[ Mac ] says:
on August 29, 2008 8:01 PM

Erin - Yes. Meryl Masterson made cookies for them.

[ Kristin ] says:
on August 29, 2008 8:02 PM

Don and Jerry are finding something very amusing

[ Piney61 ] says:
on August 29, 2008 8:02 PM

I think Justin Masterson has the most adorable wife in the world. And since he's so adorable too they'll have super adorable kids who'll rot our teeth just by looking at us...sounds like a dentist's wet dream.

[ Erin ] says:
on August 29, 2008 8:03 PM

Aww thats sweet of her. I wonder if she makes them for the visiting broadcasters.

[ jenny again ] says:

[ Cathy ] says:

Meryl and Justin are like the perfect couple.

[ Angie ] says:

I love when Remy and DO crack up for no reason. Oh how I've missed NESN.

[ Karen ] says:
on August 29, 2008 8:06 PM

Don't they have bug spray there?

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 29, 2008 8:06 PM

It just attracts them more, I think.

[ Piney61 ] says:
on August 29, 2008 8:08 PM

Per ProJo for you lovely watches of the youngins. In exchange for Sean Casey hitting the DL, the Red Sox are calling up Micheal Bowden

My computer decided to be made of epic fail and shut down on me during the top of the 4th. Did I miss anything?

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 29, 2008 8:10 PM

Dice-k had his first walk of the game, but got a DP to get out of it.

[ Angie ] says:
on August 29, 2008 8:11 PM

Was Kotsay any good yesterday? I only saw the last 3 innings and even then I was really distracted so I didn't really watch the game.

[ Mac ] says:
on August 29, 2008 8:12 PM

Thanks, Cathy.

Piney - Thanks for the link. Can't wait to see Bowden's debut.

I just got up to get some ice cream, and I got halfway to the kitchen when I remembered that Ells will lead off the next half inning. Ice cream can wait!

(I am on the shortest leash ever.)

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 29, 2008 8:26 PM

Yes....Jacoby > ice cream.

:)

[ Liza ] says:
on August 29, 2008 8:29 PM

Hey everyone--again. I'm back home--again. Points of interest:

Yankee Stadium - Really big. Otherwise not too special.
Yesterday - Way too storybook, but almost suitable. I mean, it is the Yankees.
Jacoby - WEAR THE GAME.
Daisuke - He looks totally on tonight. Two hits in five innings--not bad, Señor Matsuzaka!

That said, how is everyone?

[ Erin ] says:
on August 29, 2008 8:29 PM

Tampa Bay is annoying me.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 29, 2008 9:17 PM

Yeah, Mac, this is a wonderful way to start a much-awaited long weekend...

[ Ian ] says:
on August 29, 2008 9:17 PM

Here's something from the game notes for the baseball nerd in all of us.

With a starting outfield of Jason Bay (Chatham, ’99), Jacoby Ellsbury (Falmouth, ’04), and Mark Kotsay (Bourne, ’94) on Thursday, the Red Sox are believed to be the 1st team in ML history to start an outfield consisting of entirely Cape Cod League graduates in one game.

[ Kim ] says:
on August 29, 2008 9:18 PM

Great game. I wish I was there. My husband is 4th row on 3rd baseline.....

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 29, 2008 9:18 PM

That's pretty cool, Ian!

[ Kim ] says:
on August 29, 2008 9:20 PM

Ian... Cool stat. We went to a cape league game this summer and the summer before and the summer before..... I love cape league ball.

[ Ian ] says:
on August 29, 2008 9:21 PM

I haven't been to a Cape league game since before Liza was born. Yes I made an age joke.

[ Ian ] says:
on August 29, 2008 9:21 PM

Funny Kim, that's where my husband is sitting too. :D

[ jenny again ] says:
on August 29, 2008 9:22 PM

Dice-KKKKKKK. (eee!)

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 29, 2008 9:22 PM

Awesome job, Dice!

[ Kim ] says:
on August 29, 2008 9:23 PM

My kids are big cape league fans now..... (yes I'm old enough to have 3 kids..).... Yes you can make age jokes because I'll be 40 next weekend.

[ Kristin ] says:
on August 29, 2008 9:24 PM

How awesome was that kid!

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 29, 2008 9:25 PM

That kid was awesome!

[ Ian ] says:
on August 29, 2008 9:25 PM

Liza gets mad when I pick on her age. I'm not that far behind ya Kim. I got 3 more birthdays til i'm 39 again.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 29, 2008 9:26 PM

Don't worry, Kim, the age jokes can come at my expense over yours. I'll be 50 in a little less than a month.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 29, 2008 9:26 PM

I'm the same age as Liza.

[ Ian ] says:
on August 29, 2008 9:27 PM

And ecl we're getting you an oxygen tank for when you try to blow out the 50 candles. :D:D

[ kim ] says:
on August 29, 2008 9:27 PM

i'm glad there are other middle age people here... one night somebody commented that they weren't that many years out of middle school and it made me feel REALLY old.

[ Liza ] says:
on August 29, 2008 9:28 PM

15, then, Cathy?

And I don't get mad, just touchy. :)

Speaking of which, I read Jim Collins's book, "The Last Best League" about the Cape league a few weeks ago. Has anyone else read it?

[ Kim ] says:
on August 29, 2008 9:28 PM

But I've got a 4 yr old too... My mother keeps reminding me that I'll approaching 60 when he graduates from college.

[ Karen ] says:
on August 29, 2008 9:28 PM

I felt old when I had to explain who the smurfs were to my niece.

[ Kim ] says:
on August 29, 2008 9:29 PM

It makes me happy that tek is hitting well as of late.

[ Mac ] says:
on August 29, 2008 9:29 PM

Tek

[ Ian ] says:
on August 29, 2008 9:29 PM

See...Liza hasn't said anything in a while, you mention her age and boom she's right back making a comment. LOL.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 29, 2008 9:30 PM

Yep, Liza.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 29, 2008 9:30 PM

Ian, don't be too sure about that oxygen tank. I do have asthma, but I'm also a trained singer and have plenty of lung power!

[ kim ] says:
on August 29, 2008 9:30 PM

Liza, was it good? I might get it so me (and my husband and my 9 yr old ) can read it.

[ jenny again ] says:
on August 29, 2008 9:31 PM

Liza - I read it last summer. Loved it!

[ Ian ] says:
on August 29, 2008 9:31 PM

My parents were 42 when I graduated college

[ Mac ] says:
on August 29, 2008 9:31 PM

Liza - I haven't, but I'm interested in reading more baseball-related books. Is it any good?

[ Karen ] says:
on August 29, 2008 9:33 PM

My father was 61 when I graduated college.

[ Erin ] says:
on August 29, 2008 9:33 PM

My mom was 41 when she first became a grandma.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 29, 2008 9:34 PM

I'm trying to remember how old my parents were when my younger sister graduated college. I think Mom was 59 and Daddy was...70. Strange but true.

[ kim ] says:
on August 29, 2008 9:35 PM

Ok Liza, forget the recommendation. I just ordered off Amazon...

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 29, 2008 9:37 PM

Not this time, Senor Skeleton.

[ kim ] says:
on August 29, 2008 9:37 PM

are you watching NESN? The Beth Israel promo cracks me up... "Don't forget if you needed medical attention while at the game." Ok.... so if you are AT the game and need medical attention then you aren't watching Jerry & Don so you won't hear the promo.... they even do it during away games.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 29, 2008 9:37 PM

Wow! 8 shutout innings!

[ Ian ] says:
on August 29, 2008 9:37 PM

Does Tito let Dice-K try for the complete game??

I say no

[ kim ] says:
on August 29, 2008 9:37 PM

Dice-K looks great.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 29, 2008 9:38 PM

I say yes, but he has somebody warming up at the same time.

[ kim ] says:
on August 29, 2008 9:40 PM

Museum of Science Boston has a baseball exhibit (stuff on loan from Hall of Hame) until Sept 1st. We may head there tomorrow.

on August 29, 2008 9:41 PM

"that pitch was right down broadway" ha ha Jerry

[ Ian ] says:
on August 29, 2008 9:41 PM

i'm heading from the bed to the couch tomorrow. that'll be the extent of my excitement.

[ kim ] says:
on August 29, 2008 9:42 PM

dude, papi ran out an infield hit!

[ Kristin ] says:
on August 29, 2008 9:42 PM

Pedie is just made of awesome

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 29, 2008 9:42 PM

Pedie's stealing bases, and Papi's getting infield hits. I love this game!

[ Ian ] says:
on August 29, 2008 9:42 PM

By the way, the Rays are smoking the Orioles 11-0

[ Mac ] says:
on August 29, 2008 9:42 PM

Papi!

[ kim ] says:
on August 29, 2008 9:43 PM

YYYOOOUUUKKK!

[ Erin ] says:
on August 29, 2008 9:43 PM

Youk!

[ Karen ] says:
on August 29, 2008 9:43 PM

12-0 now and soon to be worse.

[ Ian ] says:
on August 29, 2008 9:43 PM

well that time he did put that one down broadway

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 29, 2008 9:43 PM

YOUK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

[ kim ] says:
on August 29, 2008 9:43 PM

I hate the Rays.

[ Mac ] says:
on August 29, 2008 9:43 PM

YOOOOOOOOOUK!

[ Karen ] says:
on August 29, 2008 9:44 PM

So good.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 29, 2008 9:44 PM

Yeah YOUK!!!

[ Mac ] says:
on August 29, 2008 9:44 PM

Kim - Me, too. I absolutely detest the Rays.

[ kim ] says:
on August 29, 2008 9:45 PM

Ok, would somebody here explain to my 4 yr old that it's 9:45 and time to sleep.... He just told me that the Orioles are crap and that is why the Rays are winning.

[ Karen ] says:
on August 29, 2008 9:46 PM

The Orioles look sick to their stomach. I feel for them.

[ Ian ] says:
on August 29, 2008 9:46 PM

It's not a school night. and secondly, he's right

[ Kim ] says:
on August 29, 2008 9:47 PM

Now he's mad that Lowrie is Oh for Five.
(and yes it's not a school night and may I add that I can't wait until school starts)

[ kim ] says:
on August 29, 2008 9:48 PM

well that stinks. a couple of nice runs with the based juiced would have been nice.

[ Ian ] says:
on August 29, 2008 9:49 PM

School started around here in CT yesterday.

[ kim ] says:
on August 29, 2008 9:50 PM

we don't start until wednesday. Which IMHO can't come soon enough. Child #1 and #2 (hereby referred to as Moe and Larry) need to go back to school before I kill them.

[ Ian ] says:
on August 29, 2008 9:50 PM

And the winner is me.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 29, 2008 9:51 PM

Awww, I was hoping Tito would let Dice go for the complete game...

[ kim ] says:
on August 29, 2008 9:51 PM

I was hoping the Dice-K would start the 9th.

[ Karen ] says:
on August 29, 2008 9:51 PM

In parts of Florida, school was supposed to start last Monday, but because of Fay, still out.

[ Kim ] says:
on August 29, 2008 9:52 PM

Karen, hurricanes stink. I can't believe how hard you guys in the south are getting hit this year.

[ Ian ] says:
on August 29, 2008 9:52 PM

Remember don't doubt me. Given the status of the pitching staff. It's better to be safe than sorry with him.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 29, 2008 9:52 PM

You win, Ian.

School starts on Wednesday for me.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 29, 2008 9:52 PM

Now see, Kim, if you lived down here (NC) you would have been shed of Moe and Larry a couple of weeks ago! Of course, you'd get them back in mid-May, but details...

[ Kristin ] says:
on August 29, 2008 9:52 PM

It's ok Kim, my 3 year old is still up, she asked me why Josh wasn't playing tonight...she's super glad he's ok!

[ kim ] says:
on August 29, 2008 9:53 PM

true... mine are in school until late june. I'm voting for year round school with short mini breaks.

[ Liza ] says:
on August 29, 2008 9:54 PM

My school starts Tuesday. Me = not excited.

And I think it was a good move to take Daisuke out--today was a huge confidence-builder, methinks.

Also, SQUEE.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 29, 2008 9:54 PM

I grew up in NY and school was Wednesday after Labor Day to late June back then...

[ Ian ] says:
on August 29, 2008 9:55 PM

It only took the GLobe almost two hours to get that up Liza. The Pro Jo had that about 7:45 PM.

[ Mac ] says:
on August 29, 2008 9:55 PM

Nice win!

Liza - I squeed when I saw that, too. Haha.

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 29, 2008 9:56 PM

Ugh, I just got home and only saw the last out. Quick recap from anyone?

[ Ian ] says:
on August 29, 2008 9:57 PM

Jessi - Dice-K was great so was Pedroia and Bay.

that's all you need to know.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 29, 2008 9:58 PM

See you good folks tomorrow evening. Off to finish catching up on political coverage and hurricane news :::shudders at Gustav:::

[ Angie ] says:
on August 29, 2008 9:58 PM

My school here in Maryland started this past Monday so I've been trying to watch the games after school as much as I can. And we just got the remnants of Fay today. It was drizzling all day then poured for a couple hours and that's it.

Good game today. I'm feeling good about this series.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 29, 2008 9:58 PM

Dice-k went 8 shutout innings, and didn't walk anybody.
Pedie was tearing up the bases. He had 4 hits, and 2 stolen bases
Bay had a 3-run double
Papi had 3 hits.

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 29, 2008 9:59 PM

Thanks guys!

Sounds like a missed a good game (and will miss tomorrow night as well). Oh well...

[ Karen ] says:
on August 29, 2008 10:00 PM

Missed the 9th, but since we won, that's good for me. Baltimore got 1.
Bye, until tomorrow night.

[ Liza ] says:
on August 29, 2008 10:03 PM

I knew he was called up, I just didn't know he was starting tomorrow.

[ Karen ] says:
on August 29, 2008 11:19 PM

WBZtv.com has interview of Beckett before today's game. Best 4minutes I have watched all week.

[ Tex19 ] says:
on August 30, 2008 4:38 PM

awesome interview. I'm so psyched and hopeful that Beckett will pitch this friday as I will be there!!!!

[ jenny again ] says:
on August 30, 2008 5:25 PM

Karen - YES. Giddy Beckett makes EVERYTHING better.

Know what else is awesome? Pedey batting CLEAN-UP tonight.

p.s. GO AWAY, Death Flu part II. 0.o Coco, Youk, AND Beckett ... ? Do Not Want.

[ Mac ] says:
on August 30, 2008 6:12 PM

Pedie batting cleanup is a glorious thing. Mainly because I just wanna know what kind of smack talk he comes up with. Haha.

Also, Zombie Death Flu 2? Please. GO AWAY.

[ jenny again ] says:
on August 30, 2008 6:26 PM

Mac - Seriously. Is our ballclub particularly unlucky? Are our guys too particularly touchy on each other? What is this, this repeated striking down? Wah.

Can I add how much I love commentator-edition Lou Merloni? Do Want! ;D

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 30, 2008 6:37 PM

I hate Death Flu Part II. And here I thought Coco's recent absence from the lineup was entirely due to Newnewnew Guy. Germs begone! :::growls:::

[ Mac ] says:
on August 30, 2008 6:42 PM

jenny - I dunno. It sure seems that way, with the Zombie Death Flu part 2 and all the recent DL stints. Can't we, like, send disinfectant to the clubhouse or something?

[ jenny again ] says:
on August 30, 2008 6:57 PM

Mac - I'll volunteer to go in there - risking my own life and limb, of course - and do some disinfecting.

;D

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 30, 2008 6:59 PM

I wil be very disappointed if Pedie doesn't hit a homer tonight.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 30, 2008 7:07 PM

Nice double play!

[ Mac ] says:
on August 30, 2008 7:08 PM

jenny - Hahaha.

Nice DP!

[ Angie ] says:
on August 30, 2008 7:09 PM

Yay for the red jerseys!

I really hope this crazy death flu goes away because we really can't afford any more sick/injured players especially this time of year.

[ jenny again ] says:
on August 30, 2008 7:10 PM

Excellent 1-2-3 inning. Way to come out throwing, Mr Bowden.

[ jenny again ] says:
on August 30, 2008 7:12 PM

Baltimore is down by 1 in the top of the 9th at the Trop ...

[ Mac ] says:
on August 30, 2008 7:12 PM

Jacoby!

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 30, 2008 7:12 PM

JACOBY!!!

[ jules ] says:
on August 30, 2008 7:12 PM

Hey y'all!

Jacoby!

Great start by Bowden.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 30, 2008 7:13 PM

I love the red jerseys...

Yeah Jacoby!

[ jules ] says:
on August 30, 2008 7:14 PM

TB, O's tied! Go O's!

[ Liza ] says:
on August 30, 2008 7:14 PM

That was an awesome DP.

Also, Bowden with the alt jerseys--awesome. I like them.

[ jules ] says:
on August 30, 2008 7:14 PM

I'm thinkin' I need a red jersey--#15.

[ Mac ] says:
on August 30, 2008 7:16 PM

I hate that mlb.tv is behind. I wish I could be able to sync the audio to WGN on the tv and drown out Hawk's voice.

[ Liza ] says:
on August 30, 2008 7:17 PM

Pleats with the standing ovation. HA.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 30, 2008 7:18 PM

Ha I love that he got a Standing O!

[ Mac ] says:
on August 30, 2008 7:19 PM

PEDIE!!!

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 30, 2008 7:19 PM

Pedie!

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 30, 2008 7:20 PM

KOTSAY!!!!!!!!!!

[ Mac ] says:
on August 30, 2008 7:20 PM

NEW NEW NEW GUY!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 30, 2008 7:21 PM

Good goin' Newnewnew Guy!

[ Karen ] says:
on August 30, 2008 7:21 PM

Here. Sox game on tv, chicago channel. Wondering if listening to nesn and watchingn tv will work.

[ Mac ] says:
on August 30, 2008 7:22 PM

Karen - I'm doing that right now. NESN's behind a little.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 30, 2008 7:22 PM

JAYBAY!!!!!!!! WTF Dye???

[ Mac ] says:
on August 30, 2008 7:22 PM

BAY!

[ Mary ] says:
on August 30, 2008 7:23 PM

Phew, now that I'm done packing for college....

GO SOX!

Oh man, am I loving these doubled :D

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 30, 2008 7:23 PM

It's a ground-rule doublefest! Loving it!

[ Liza ] says:
on August 30, 2008 7:24 PM

That was a pretty bizarre inning overall.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 30, 2008 7:24 PM

I had to laugh when NESN flashed the "2000 Gold Glove Award" for Dye. Uh, that was a long time ago, buddy!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 30, 2008 7:25 PM

TB just walked off. Dammit.

[ Mac ] says:
on August 30, 2008 7:25 PM

Liza - Yes, yes it was.

[ Mac ] says:
on August 30, 2008 7:25 PM

Damn you, Tampa.

[ Karen ] says:
on August 30, 2008 7:27 PM

Forgot Mlb.tv is behind regular tv. hard to listen to one and watch another.
Bowden's birthday is 1 day before mine.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 30, 2008 7:30 PM

Why, it's Senor Toothpick!

[ Karen ] says:
on August 30, 2008 7:31 PM

What happened to Youk?

[ Mac ] says:
on August 30, 2008 7:32 PM

Karen - Youk's out with the Zombie Death Flu part II, along with Coco.

[ Angie ] says:
on August 30, 2008 7:32 PM

Karen, the crazy death flu has struck again.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 30, 2008 7:33 PM

Kotsay!!!!!!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 30, 2008 7:34 PM

VERY nice catch!!!

[ Karen ] says:
on August 30, 2008 7:34 PM

These people need to stop breathing on each other. Maybe since Lowell and Beckett were gone yesterday together they will be fine.

[ Mac ] says:
on August 30, 2008 7:35 PM

New new new Guy! Nice catch!

[ Angie ] says:
on August 30, 2008 7:36 PM

I wonder who would have taken Crisp's place in the outfield if we didnt get Kotsay.

[ Ian ] says:
on August 30, 2008 7:38 PM

They probably would have called someone up Angie.

[ Mac ] says:
on August 30, 2008 7:39 PM

BAILEY!!!

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 30, 2008 7:39 PM

JEFF BAILEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 30, 2008 7:40 PM

Cora!

[ Ian ] says:
on August 30, 2008 7:40 PM

From Extra bases:

Meanwhile, a Sox ace from the recent past, Curt Schilling, is at Adams Field in Quincy to take part in the annual 100 Innings of Baseball, a real, live 100-inning game that’s being played as a fundraiser for Curt’s Pitch for ALS. The money will be used to set up a scholarship fund for students whose families are affected by ALS. The scholarship is named after longtime Boston Park League umpire

Anyway, we have just been informed via email that Schilling, who is at the event, had this to say after Mike Pollak of Somerville got hit by a pitch: “Don’t worry, that should feel better by the 70th inning or so.”

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 30, 2008 7:41 PM

Alright, AC!

Nice to see so much good hitting in the lineup.

[ Mac ] says:
on August 30, 2008 7:42 PM

Cora!

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 30, 2008 7:42 PM

Ugh Cora.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 30, 2008 7:42 PM

I wonder how long it takes to play 100 innings. Yikes. But it's for a great cause, I must say!

[ Mac ] says:
on August 30, 2008 7:43 PM

Aw dammit... That was close.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 30, 2008 7:43 PM

JACOBY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

[ Ian ] says:
on August 30, 2008 7:43 PM

ugh. Cora getting picked off hurts now

[ Liza ] says:
on August 30, 2008 7:43 PM

Fun fact: 16 of Bowden's 19 second-inning pitches were strikes.

Ells! Dye is not having fun out there in right.

[ Mac ] says:
on August 30, 2008 7:43 PM

JACOBY!!!!

[ Angie ] says:
on August 30, 2008 7:44 PM

DAMN Jacoby is so fast.

[ Mac ] says:
on August 30, 2008 7:44 PM

ecl, I was wondering the same thing myself. A few days, I guess? It is for a great cause, though.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 30, 2008 7:44 PM

Jacoby continues to amaze...

[ Ian ] says:
on August 30, 2008 7:44 PM

that'll get a run in

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 30, 2008 7:44 PM

That'll do, Jed.

[ Mac ] says:
on August 30, 2008 7:46 PM

JED!!!

[ Lindsay ] says:
on August 30, 2008 7:47 PM

Jacoby makes me smile.

[ jenny again ] says:
on August 30, 2008 7:47 PM

Karen - I'm late here, but Beckett IS one of the sickies - Coco, Youk, and Beckett are all out.

[ jenny again ] says:
on August 30, 2008 7:48 PM

I smell a cycle for Ells. The hard parts are done, kiddo!

[ Lindsay ] says:
on August 30, 2008 7:49 PM

I'm confused. Remy keeps saying that Bowden cant just use his fastball in the game.

But then Don said that Bowden was told to just do what Tek tells him to do.

So technically, Tek is the one telling him to throw the fastball.

**Just thinking aloud I guess*

[ Lindsay ] says:
on August 30, 2008 7:50 PM

Jenny, I agree.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 30, 2008 7:51 PM

Good effort, Jacoby.

[ Mac ] says:
on August 30, 2008 7:51 PM

Aww Jacoby. That was a nice try, though.

[ Lindsay ] says:
on August 30, 2008 7:52 PM

Again, he makes me smile. However this time its more of a giggle.

[ Lindsay ] says:
on August 30, 2008 7:52 PM

Where is Lowell? I thought he was able to come back on Thursday?

[ jenny again ] says:
on August 30, 2008 7:53 PM

Oh Ells. That was EPIC.

[ Karen ] says:
on August 30, 2008 7:53 PM

Beckett, sick, aww. Wish I could make it better. His immune system is probably down, with the testing and all.
Sorry late comment, was on phone.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 30, 2008 7:55 PM

Nice acting job, tek.

[ Piney61 ] says:
on August 30, 2008 7:56 PM

What the hell, why is there suddenly a resurgence in teh Zombie Death Flu in the clubhouse?! Didn't they already go through this earlier in the season. But I guess I understand the whole flu-ridden crap....I had a bout of it in June and lemme tell you -- it is NOT. FUN.

[ Lindsay ] says:
on August 30, 2008 7:56 PM

Nice try Tek. haha

[ jenny again ] says:
on August 30, 2008 7:56 PM

Lowell was eligibile (which apparently I cannot spell) to come off the DL on Thursday, but obliques are tricksy so they're taking their time with him easing into baseball activities.

[ Karen ] says:
on August 30, 2008 7:57 PM

Loving seeing it twice, tv and online, close-ups of Tek. Wish I was that fan.

[ Mac ] says:
on August 30, 2008 7:57 PM

Nice try, Tek.

[ starr4 ] says:
on August 30, 2008 7:57 PM

RE: the flu, or food poisoning: someone (s) not washing their hands and/or practicing appropriate hand hygiene. MHC will back me up on this one, right?

[ Lindsay ] says:
on August 30, 2008 7:59 PM

Thanks Jenny!

Pedroia amazes me. MVP! MVP! MVP!

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:00 PM

Pedie is the MVM= Most Valuable Munchkin.

[ Lindsay ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:01 PM

I love that interview with Masterson.

"the start of a beautiful major league career"

[ Ian ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:01 PM

How much smack do you think Pleats will be talking after the game about batting cleanup to Tito.

He already told Tito before the game that "it was about time."

[ jenny again ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:02 PM

Masterson, you are made of sunshine and puppies and rainbows and LOVE.

Pedey, you just keep hitting, OK?

[ Ian ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:02 PM

Lowell will most likely be back on Sept 1st when rosters expand. Given everything they have going on with their roster, they don't want to send someone down and lose them for 10 days unless there's an injury.

[ Mac ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:03 PM

Lindsay - Masterson is pretty much made of adorableness. Haha.

[ Angie ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:03 PM

Haha jenny I agree. That was a great shot of him giggling in the bullpen.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:03 PM

I want to marry Justin's smile.

[ Ian ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:04 PM

Oh and Big Papi told Tito he was retiring if Pedroia batted cleanup the rest of the season.

By the way, for the youngin's and you know who you are, that running catch by Griffey is what we got to see almost every day when he was healthy in Seattle.

[ Lindsay ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:05 PM

I love Justin. I definately need to go and get myself a Masterson shirt!

[ jenny again ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:05 PM

Ian - I was just thinking what a thrill it must be for Bowden to face Junior and then I realized Bowden is eight years younger than I am so maybe his memories of young Junior aren't as epic as mine. o.0

[ Lindsay ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:07 PM

Cathy, you can marry Justin's smile if I can marry Jacobys, Deal?

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:07 PM

Deal.

[ jenny again ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:08 PM

Ellsbury's red jersey and one red sleeve clash a little bit.

( ... You guys can punch me in the face at any time.)

[ Liza ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:08 PM

Hey Ian--going back to last night's discussion, I get touchy when you mention my age, but more when you condescend to me because of my age. :)

[ Ian ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:09 PM

Jenny, Griffey and I are the same age, the difference being he's got a lot more money than I will ever have and he's got just a little more baseball ability than I do.

[ Lindsay ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:10 PM

I wonder why Jake doesnt have more of those sleeves in different colors. Maybe a navy blue or white. However white may get too dirty.

[ Ian ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:10 PM

I only do it in jest Liza. And do you mean when I say something like this, big word for a youngin. :))))))))))

[ Lindsay ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:10 PM

By the way, I wish that the red alternate home jersey was their regular home jersey. I love when they wear them!

[ Avery ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:11 PM

My dad was in New York and got Paps and Pedroia's autographs for me! Hi everyone (again) I disappeared to go to a camp, but now I'm back!

[ Ian ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:11 PM

Something tells me that since the cat is out in chicago, i might get banned for making smiley faces.

I kid liza. I will say you and cathy know your shit (baseball) for your age.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:11 PM

Maybe he's superstitous about it?

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:13 PM

Lindsay, I'm with you -- I would love to see the red jerseys be the regular home jersey. I mean, we are the RED Sox, after all!

[ Lindsay ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:13 PM

Cathy, probably.

However I've only read that he is superstition about the sleeve in general. Well, just that a sleeve keeps his throwing arm warm and he performs better. But I'm sure there is something special about the color aswell.

Come on Bowden! You got this!

[ Mac ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:14 PM

Hi Avery! Welcome back! It's also awesome that your dad got Pap's and Pedie's autographs for you.

[ Ian ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:14 PM

nice pitch by bowden there

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:14 PM

EXCELLENT job, Bowden!

[ Lindsay ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:15 PM

Exactly Ecl! It would just make more sense that way.

[ jenny again ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:15 PM

Oh FUCK yeah. Nice pitch, kid.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:15 PM

Nice pitching, Bowden!!!

[ Avery ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:15 PM

Thanks Mac. Bowden's picture on Gameday makes me laugh.

[ Mac ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:16 PM

Nice pitch, Bowden!

[ Ian ] says:

personally i think the red jerseys should be worn every saturday or sunday at home.

if you want the real reason why they only wear them once in a while. I'll give them to you. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

The more jerseys you have the more $$$$$$$$ you make in merchandise sales.

[ Liza ] says:

I know, Ian--as do I (joke about age, that is).

As for the sleeve, Ells started wearing it in Portland in 2007 to keep his throwing arm warm, and keeps it mostly for comfort, though I think superstition plays at least a small part.

Also, Bowden is kicking serious ass. 66 pitches, but 47 of them are strikes.

[ Ian ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:18 PM

at least i'm not the oldest, nudge nudge.

[ Mac ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:18 PM

Avery - Haha. I just went to Gameday to look at his photo. You're right. It's kinda giggle-worthy.

[ Lindsay ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:18 PM

Excellent point Ian. I'm suprised they haven't made an alternate away jersey. It could be....navy blue.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:19 PM

I think they should use their navy BP ones.

[ Lindsay ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:19 PM

Come on Jakey!!!

[ jenny again ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:20 PM

Oof we went down fast.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:20 PM

Wink wink, Ian (looks at calendar)...

[ lone1c ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:21 PM

A blue uniform? Not so much fun in the summer, I suspect.

[ Liza ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:21 PM

It's worth mentioning that Buchholz has let up 2 hits and a walk over 7 innings (so far) in Portland.

[ Karen ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:23 PM

Did anyone else read the bit on boston.com about Papelbon, he made up cinco-ocho shirts? I want one.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:26 PM

Yeah, I saw that Karen.

[ Mac ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:26 PM

Does anyone know who was taken off the 40 man roster for Bowden?

[ Liza ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:26 PM

Eric Hull was DFA'd.

[ Mac ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:27 PM

Thanks, Liza.

[ Liza ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:28 PM

Pierzynski's single was the first time in the game Bowden's allowed consecutive batters to get on base.

[ jenny again ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:29 PM

OK, Bowden, hero-time here, kid.

[ Mac ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:30 PM

C'mon, Bowden. You can do this.

[ jenny again ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:31 PM

Good out, kid. One at a time here.

[ jenny again ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:32 PM

Ho ho ho - NICE.

[ jenny again ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:32 PM

C'mon, Fenway, on your feet for the kid here.

[ jenny again ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:33 PM

Hoo boy. Way to work out of the jam, kiddo. I like it.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:33 PM

Great work, kiddo!

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:33 PM

Phew. Nice job.

[ lone1c ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:33 PM

Good job.

[ Mac ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:34 PM

Great job, Bowden.

[ Liza ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:34 PM

YES! Very nice.

Is it safe to say the kid's got ice water in his veins?

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:35 PM

I'd say the future looks quite bright for the lad.

[ Karen ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:35 PM

Watching Hurricane Gustav. I feel for them, having to go through it again.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:37 PM

Hahaha jerry!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:37 PM

Ooooh, Karen. I've been shedding tears since last night about the Gustav situation. It looks very, very bad for the whole region with a storm coming in at that strength. :::shudders:::

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:38 PM

Papi's been running so well lately. I'm proud of him...

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:38 PM

That really is terrible that they have to go through this again, karen.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:39 PM

PEDIEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:39 PM

GREAT slide!!!!!!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:39 PM

The little Pedie that could. :::grins:::

[ Ian ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:39 PM

As I said earlier, how much smack is Pedroia going to talk after the game about being the cleanup hitter.

[ lone1c ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:40 PM

Way to go, Pedroia! Very, very smart baserunning!

(And you know Remy and Orsillo are going to be ribbing Francona for a while on that one!)

[ Bethie ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:40 PM

I know I'm way late, but I just have to say....

Dustin Pedroia is a crafty little bastard.

[ Liza ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:40 PM

FUCK YEAHHH PLEATS.

As you were...

Wait--YEAH KOTSAY.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:40 PM

KOTSAY!!!!!!!!

[ Ian ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:40 PM

new new new guy rules

[ Mac ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:40 PM

PEDIE!!!

Very crafty eluding that tag.

[ Karen ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:41 PM

Yeah Pedey.

[ Mac ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:41 PM

NEW NEW NEW GUY!

[ Mac ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:42 PM

I would love to hear the kind of smack Pedie talks after the game. It just seems like it would be EPIC.

[ lone1c ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:43 PM

Question for everybody: if Bay is new guy, and Byrd is new new guy, and Kotsay is new new new guy, what does that make Bowden?

[ Liza ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:43 PM

Bowden > Buehrle.

Saying that made me happy inside.

(Okay, it may just be Red Sox > White Sox, but... hey.)

[ jenny again ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:44 PM

God, I love Dustin Pedroia. He was SO psyched to have eluded the tag - I feel like he does that all the time and I always love it - and to have it called correctly. Just awesome.

Jerry: "The White Sox haven't gotten Pedroia out yet in the series."

Smug Little Bastard FTW.

[ Liza ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:44 PM

Bowden is merely call-up kid.

[ Karen ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:44 PM

Gustav will hit 3 states away, and we are getting outside bands, with severe t-storms and tornadoes. That's how big it is. It will probably hit as a cat. 5, the worst. I know how it feels, we had a cat. 5 in 2004.

[ jenny again ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:46 PM

All of New New New Guy's hits with the Sox? Doubles.

[ Lindsay ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:46 PM

Hey again. I left to get some ice cream. And I just have to comment on some of the events that just happened.

First off, how the hell does Pedroia AWAYS get away from the tag? I dont think he has been thrown out at second yet this season!

Second, Tito; you make me laugh! I guess its a habit to go out on the field after every close call.

[ Mac ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:46 PM

jenny - Smug Little Bastard. LOL. That so describes Pedie.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:47 PM

he is able to do it because he is one Crafty Little Shit.

[ jenny again ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:47 PM

Mac - I named my new MacBook (which I am happily typing on right now) the Smug Little Bastard in honor of Pedey. ;D

[ Lindsay ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:48 PM

I would definately love to be in the club house after tonights game. I really want to know what kind of smack Pedie will be talking. And we all know that he will be talking some! I love that little guy!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:48 PM

Jenny, so far I am quite impressed with New New New Guy!

[ Angie ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:48 PM

lone1c, newx4 guy? cuz new new new new guy is too long

[ Lindsay ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:49 PM

I was supposed to be at tonights game. But some bastard on ebay outbid me with 10 seconds left.

[ lone1c ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:51 PM

But with Beckett on the DL this weekend, they'll keep Bowden on the 40-man roster, right?

[ Mac ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:51 PM

jenny - Hahaha. That's awesome.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:52 PM

They might, but he is getting extremely close to the 150 innings the Sox want to keep him to this year.

[ lone1c ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:52 PM

Angie: I guess that works.

Guillen: Fears Pedroia more than Oriz? Wow.

[ lone1c ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:52 PM

And NESN? Thanks for almost not showing us a double play!

[ Mary ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:54 PM

Jenny - I named mine Pleats :)

[ Kimd ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:54 PM

NewX4 guy looks good.

[ Mac ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:54 PM

Ok so...

Bay - Beaker, Sunflower of Perfection, Canadian, New Guy
Byrd - New New Guy
Kotsay - New New New Guy
Bowden - Call-up Kid

Does this seem correct?

[ Liza ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:55 PM

Fun fact from Steve Buckley of the Herald: Crede's triple was "his first triple since Sept. 26, 2003. For historical perspective, on that date Michael Bowden was a few weeks into his junior year at Waubonsie High School in Illinois."

[ kim ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:57 PM

They are hysterical over the Tito incident. Don & Jerry can't talk.

[ Angie ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:58 PM

Woah I just noticed I didn't spell out because. Sorry for that, I was typing really fast.

[ Liza ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:59 PM

Kim - They're completely incoherent--it took Don about five minutes to say "Alexei Ramirez" without stuttering or giggling.

[ kim ] says:
on August 30, 2008 8:59 PM

Jaocby is FAST.

[ kim ] says:
on August 30, 2008 9:00 PM

Liza, I love it when they get like that. My favorite moment is the Lenny Clark night with Youk & Mel Gibson.

[ lone1c ] says:
on August 30, 2008 9:00 PM

Mac: I think we're missing "Narcissistic Manchild" for Bay.

[ Mac ] says:
on August 30, 2008 9:02 PM

Ah, yes. Narcissistic Manchild.

Bay - Beaker, Sunflower of Perfection, Canadian, New Guy, Narcissistic Manchild.
Byrd - New New Guy
Kotsay - New New New Guy
Bowden - Call-up Kid

Are there any other nicknames I'm forgetting?

[ Liza ] says:
on August 30, 2008 9:03 PM

The Mel Gibson rant never fails to crack me up. And nor does this.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 30, 2008 9:03 PM

I think you've got them all, Mac.

[ Angie ] says:
on August 30, 2008 9:03 PM

This is probabaly a dumb question but can someone explain the sunflower nickname to me? I feel like I'm missing out on something

[ Liza ] says:
on August 30, 2008 9:05 PM

Mac - The one thing that never fails to pop into my head at the mention of Byrd is:

WordUpThome: IN THE SPIRIT OF THE HOLIDAYS OUR TEAM INVITED OVER THE CLEVELAND INDIANS FOR THE SHARING OF ROAST BEAST AND CRAMBERRIES
WordUpThome: WE ENJOYED BIRD WITH GRADY AND GRAVY WITH BYRD

[ lone1c ] says:
on August 30, 2008 9:05 PM

Angie: See the August 24th game thread. (Although reading it over, I don't understand where it comes from, other than TG's sick, twisted mind.)

[ Mac ] says:
on August 30, 2008 9:06 PM

Angie - In one Gameday Open Thread, I think Texy called him Sunflower of Perfection. I don't remember the reason behind it, though.

[ lone1c ] says:
on August 30, 2008 9:07 PM

Wow--other than act, is there anything Pedie can't do?

[ jenny again ] says:
on August 30, 2008 9:07 PM

PEDEY!

I actually just went "eee!" here in my living room. Very loudly.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 30, 2008 9:07 PM

Pedie!

[ Mac ] says:
on August 30, 2008 9:07 PM

Liza - LOL. That's brilliant! Is that from the Dugout?

[ Mac ] says:
on August 30, 2008 9:08 PM

PEDIE!!

[ jenny again ] says:
on August 30, 2008 9:09 PM

lone1c - bwahahahaha. Touche!

[ Mac ] says:
on August 30, 2008 9:11 PM

lone1c - hahahaha. I just read that.

[ Angie ] says:
on August 30, 2008 9:11 PM

Oh okay. So it was just something random like NARCISSISTIC MANCHILD.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 30, 2008 9:11 PM

Stop messing up our field, Quentin. :::growls:::

[ Mac ] says:
on August 30, 2008 9:12 PM

Angie - Pretty much.

[ Ian ] says:
on August 30, 2008 9:12 PM

lone1c i'm late to answer since i was working on a blog post but he would merely be the newest rookie.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 30, 2008 9:12 PM

PEDIE!!!!!!!!!!!! He is amazing!!!!!!!!!!!

[ kim ] says:
on August 30, 2008 9:12 PM

Pedie is 8 for 8 in the series...

[ Ian ] says:
on August 30, 2008 9:12 PM

Pedroia is now 8-for-8 in the series.

[ Ian ] says:
on August 30, 2008 9:13 PM

jinx

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 30, 2008 9:13 PM

And Pedie's BA continues to climb...

[ j ] says:
on August 30, 2008 9:13 PM

HOLY SHIT PEDEY.

Love the "MVP" chant. Good times!

(White Sox STILL haven't gotten Pedey out this series!)

[ Mac ] says:
on August 30, 2008 9:14 PM

DAMN. Pedroia the destroya. (I don't think I spelled that right...)

[ lone1c ] says:
on August 30, 2008 9:14 PM

Tomorrow, Pedie's going to be intentionally walked in every at-bat where there's even a chance of trouble.

[ Mac ] says:
on August 30, 2008 9:15 PM

New new new guy!
