I don't know about you cats, but I am SO ready for this. GO SOX.

[ Karen ] says:
on August 26, 2008 6:56 PM

I am so going to enjoy this. With no job, and no Sox yesterday I was so bored.

[ Bethie ] says:
on August 26, 2008 7:02 PM

Sox and the Skankees!!!

Wheeeeeeeee!

GOOO SOX!!!

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on August 26, 2008 7:02 PM

Oh, Yankees. How thou do sucketh.

[ Karen ] says:
on August 26, 2008 7:04 PM

Yankees network on mlb.tv, oh yeah. Friday, Nesn, so looking forward to you.

[ Camillia ] says:
on August 26, 2008 7:07 PM

Haha, Skankees, I think I'll start calling the Yankees that from now on, GO SOX!

[ jenny again ] says:
on August 26, 2008 7:08 PM

OK, let's go, Ells!

[ jules ] says:
on August 26, 2008 7:09 PM

Hey everyone!

Long day, but I'm home with the Sox, DO, and Remy. Happiness is ditching work clothes for Sox jersey and hat.

Hate Giambi.

[ jules ] says:
on August 26, 2008 7:11 PM

We'll take a BB.

[ fc ] says:
on August 26, 2008 7:13 PM

Or two.

[ jenny again ] says:
on August 26, 2008 7:14 PM

New Guy! New Guy! New Guy!

[ jules ] says:
on August 26, 2008 7:14 PM

And another.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 26, 2008 7:14 PM

Woot! Let's go, Bay!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 26, 2008 7:15 PM

Okay, getting fired up here. Hopefully I didn't miss too much...

[ Camillia ] says:
on August 26, 2008 7:16 PM

So who"s ready for instant replay? I know I am.

[ fc ] says:
on August 26, 2008 7:16 PM

And what does "getting fired up" entail chez ecl?

[ jules ] says:
on August 26, 2008 7:17 PM

Crap. I was hoping for runs.

At least we got Pettitte's pitch count up a bit.

Justin's commercial. He's just too cute. Rusty?

[ jenny again ] says:
on August 26, 2008 7:18 PM

Man, I love that Masterson commercial.

[ jules ] says:
on August 26, 2008 7:18 PM

Camilla, I haven't read the details on the instant replay, but think it can be very helpful on the HR calls.

[ jenny again ] says:
on August 26, 2008 7:19 PM

Anyone else catch Lowell's one-on-one with Heidi during the pregame? Good to see him back with the club, even if he's still on the DL. Just seeing him smiling makes everything better. This is not the same team without him around.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 26, 2008 7:20 PM

They're going to start using it on Friday for most of the teams, right?

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 26, 2008 7:20 PM

Well, fc, back in the day it would have entailed actually firing something up. Now, however, I performed the exciting task of booting up my computer. Got knocked off line last night when the tropical remnants arrived. It's still raining hard here, but no power flickers while I was at work, it appears. So now I've got my mlb.tv, my Gameday graphics (just in case), and CF, so I'm all set. All I need to do now is get into comfy loungewear and get some food into me and life will be good. Oh yeah, and a win would make it even better, of course!

[ jules ] says:
on August 26, 2008 7:21 PM

I missed Mike's interview. They might replay it during the game. With my luck, it'll be when I'm picking the kidlet up from volleyball tryouts.

JD on the DL ;-(

Beckett pitching on Friday ;-)

Let's go Wake!

[ jules ] says:
on August 26, 2008 7:21 PM

dammit.

Hate Damon.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 26, 2008 7:21 PM

Aaahhh, shit. Not what I was hoping to see.

[ Mac ] says:
on August 26, 2008 7:21 PM

Dammit.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 26, 2008 7:22 PM

Fuck you, Demon!

[ Karen ] says:
on August 26, 2008 7:22 PM

Ugh

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 26, 2008 7:22 PM

Hey everyone!

I despise Johnny Damon.

[ Angie ] says:
on August 26, 2008 7:22 PM

Does anybody know when Lowell is coming back? I miss him.

FUCK! A homerun. Great.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 26, 2008 7:24 PM

He's able to come off the DL on Thursday, but won't be quite ready. He started to hit today, so I'm guessing he'll be back sometime early next week.

[ Karen ] says:
on August 26, 2008 7:25 PM

Since I don't have Nesn unless they are at home I watch all Sox interviews on Nesn.com after the game. Lowell's interview should be on there.

[ jules ] says:
on August 26, 2008 7:25 PM

Sit DOWN, Punk.

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 26, 2008 7:25 PM

Haha Yankee announcers "And now the count is 1-2" as Wakey starts walking off...

[ Bethie ] says:
on August 26, 2008 7:25 PM

Ah, Johnny Damon. Thou art full of SUCK.

And probably full of something else too, of course I cannot confirm.

[ Erin ] says:
on August 26, 2008 7:25 PM

Damon hit a HR? I'm annoyed.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 26, 2008 7:26 PM

HA! Sit your ass down, Slappy!

[ jules ] says:
on August 26, 2008 7:26 PM

Karen, do you have Extra Innings?

[ Karen ] says:
on August 26, 2008 7:26 PM

Lowell's interview is on nesn.com

[ Angie ] says:
on August 26, 2008 7:27 PM

Is it just me or does it seem that A-Rod seems to argue every time he strikes out?

[ Karen ] says:
on August 26, 2008 7:29 PM

No I don't get extra innings. Mlb.tv cuts as soon as the game ends. I watch all post and pre game interviews on nesn.com

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 26, 2008 7:29 PM

I don't have a great feeling about this game...

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 26, 2008 7:29 PM

Did he just call Lowrie 'Larry'?

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 26, 2008 7:30 PM

First hit comes from - Bailey?

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 26, 2008 7:30 PM

Nice dugout shot of Mikey...

[ Bethie ] says:
on August 26, 2008 7:31 PM

I'm still trying to figure out how Lowrie struck out on a 2-1 count.

These yankees announcers have me cornfused.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 26, 2008 7:31 PM

MIKEY!

[ Bethie ] says:
on August 26, 2008 7:32 PM

Uh-oh.

A Molina on his ass is never good.

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 26, 2008 7:32 PM

Christ our bottom third looks weak...Coco, Bailey, Cash (and then Ells at the top).

But yay for infield singles!

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 26, 2008 7:33 PM

ELLSBURYYYYY

[ jules ] says:
on August 26, 2008 7:33 PM

hahaahaa A-Rod.

40 pitches for Pettitte. Good.

YES! Ells!

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 26, 2008 7:33 PM

Cashie!

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 26, 2008 7:34 PM

Aww atta boy - look at that front foot planted in the ground.

[ Karen ] says:
on August 26, 2008 7:34 PM

Yeah Jacoby.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 26, 2008 7:34 PM

Tie game!!!

[ Mac ] says:
on August 26, 2008 7:34 PM

JACOBY!!!

[ Angie ] says:
on August 26, 2008 7:35 PM

Is it bad that I was kind of hoping Molina would get mad and start a fight? I want some action tonight.

Yes! A run. This is looking good

[ Mac ] says:
on August 26, 2008 7:36 PM

Bethie - Jed struck out on a 2-1 count? (I wasn't paying attention during Jed's and Coco's at-bats...) I'm suddenly reminded of Coco's three ball walk in Baltimore last week.

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 26, 2008 7:42 PM

CRAP - Wakey keep those pitches down!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 26, 2008 7:43 PM

Dammit! What's with this trading runs?

[ Karen ] says:
on August 26, 2008 7:43 PM

Oh man.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 26, 2008 7:43 PM

Crap!!!!!

[ jenny again ] says:
on August 26, 2008 7:43 PM

Aww, biscuits.

In happier news, it sounded to me like Mikey might be off the DL next Tuesday?

[ Mac ] says:
on August 26, 2008 7:43 PM

Dammit!

[ Bethie ] says:
on August 26, 2008 7:44 PM

I dunno Mac. I saw 2-2....and after he struck out, one of the announcers said "it must have been 2-1, the scoreboard was wrong"

And I'm over here checking my math?????

[ Bethie ] says:
on August 26, 2008 7:45 PM

Wow, if this game stays like this.....I might need a sedative.

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 26, 2008 7:47 PM

Haha I love Damon in CF.

[ jenny again ] says:
on August 26, 2008 7:47 PM

PAPI! I love it when you stand-up double!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 26, 2008 7:48 PM

Yeah Papi, good work!

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 26, 2008 7:48 PM

PAPI!!!!!!!!!!!!

[ Mac ] says:
on August 26, 2008 7:48 PM

PAPI!!

[ jenny again ] says:
on August 26, 2008 7:49 PM

Hey, Faith - how's the rain?

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 26, 2008 7:49 PM

YEAAA YOUKKKKK

[ jules ] says:
on August 26, 2008 7:49 PM

Yay Papi!

YAY YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUK!

[ jenny again ] says:
on August 26, 2008 7:50 PM

YOOOOOOOOOUKIE! AND WE'RE TIED AGAIN. WHOO HOO!

And Pettitte is at 51 pitches.

Come on, New Guy!

[ Mac ] says:
on August 26, 2008 7:50 PM

YOOOOOUK!

[ Karen ] says:
on August 26, 2008 7:50 PM

Yeah. It's going to be one of those games isn't it?

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 26, 2008 7:50 PM

JAY BAYYYY

[ Bethie ] says:
on August 26, 2008 7:50 PM

YOOOOUUUKKKK!!!

Faith, do you have tornado warnings up there, or is it just down in my neck of the woods?

[ jenny again ] says:
on August 26, 2008 7:50 PM

NEW GUY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

[ jules ] says:
on August 26, 2008 7:51 PM

[ Karen ] says:
on August 26, 2008 7:51 PM

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 26, 2008 7:51 PM

BAY!!!!!!!!!

[ jules ] says:
on August 26, 2008 7:52 PM

Cathy, that's funny. MUCH greater.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on August 26, 2008 7:52 PM

Sunflower of Perfection.
Beaker.
The Canadian.
New Guy.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on August 26, 2008 7:53 PM

I feel like we should call him New Guy forever. Like, five years from now.

[ jules ] says:
on August 26, 2008 7:53 PM

Time to pick my daughter up from volleyball.

:: thankful we live so close ::

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on August 26, 2008 7:53 PM

Fantastic defense by JeterJeterPumpkinEater.

[ jenny again ] says:
on August 26, 2008 7:54 PM

New Guy is New Guy (despite Paul Byrd actually being newer).

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 26, 2008 7:54 PM

Hmmm... :::checking weather sites again:::

Tornado watch is not in the mountains, Bethie.

Jenny, last I checked, our airport had recorded about 3.5 inches since last night. The mountainous terrain makes for wide variations, though. There are reports in the area of 10+ inches.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 26, 2008 7:55 PM

I'm trying to forget that Byrd is on the team.

[ Karen ] says:
on August 26, 2008 7:56 PM

Ecl, are you getting the remnants of Fay? Florida could have a hurricane for Labor day weekend. Hurricane Gustav. And there are 2 more developing behind it. I really hate the tropics.

[ Bethie ] says:
on August 26, 2008 7:57 PM

That's a lot of rain, Faith. You guys are getting a lot more than we are. Break out the floaties and be safe!

The river in our back yard is out of the bank already, and the neighbor is not happy it's taken over his back yard. Luckily our bank is higher, but it's getting awful close to coming out on this end too.

And it's supposed to rain all week. Bleh.

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 26, 2008 7:58 PM

The new Yankee stadium looks like a cross between a ballpark and a theme park. Gross.

[ Karen ] says:
on August 26, 2008 7:58 PM

The greatest city in the world?

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 26, 2008 7:59 PM

Tiger Woods! (He better be rooting for the Sox!)

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 26, 2008 7:59 PM

Very nice DP

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 26, 2008 8:00 PM

Yep, Karen, this is "remnants of Fay" coming through. Bethie is getting it too. I saw the reports on Gustav but didn't know about the two trailing it -- that's scary. The 5-day projection has it in the Gulf as a Cat 3 headed towards New Orleans. Whether that projection holds true remains to be seen. My area got whooped by remnants of Frances and Ivan in 2004...unbelievable amounts of rain and flooding. We need help with this current drought, but I don't relish the thought of Gustav taking a similar path to that of Fay.

[ Bethie ] says:
on August 26, 2008 8:00 PM

Nice Tiger Woods cameo. ::eyeroll::

[ jenny again ] says:
on August 26, 2008 8:00 PM

OH MAN I love our infield. Thanks, aRah, that was a beautiful GIDP.

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 26, 2008 8:00 PM

Bethie - not a fan of Tiger?

[ Mac ] says:
on August 26, 2008 8:01 PM

Nice GIDP, A-rod.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 26, 2008 8:01 PM

Very clutch GIDP, Slappy.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 26, 2008 8:02 PM

Bethie, I don't know how your rainfall compares to that of Charlotte, but the airport there has well over 4 inches so far. Maybe that's why your creek is trying to jump its banks?

[ Karen ] says:
on August 26, 2008 8:03 PM

The Red Cross and National Guard are still out here, the roads are still flooded and some of the schools still closed. Then there is the damage from the tornadoes. And there's another one possibly coming. I so want out.
My birthday is the peak of hurricane season, there was a hurricane in 2004 on my birthday, don't wish to repeat.

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 26, 2008 8:04 PM

Yankee fans are not going to pleased the umpire this game.

[ jenny again ] says:
on August 26, 2008 8:04 PM

Toronto is leading TB 3-0 -- I LOVE THIS TIME OF YEAR. o.0

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 26, 2008 8:05 PM

*with the umpire

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 26, 2008 8:05 PM

Karen, I don't envy you one bit. Wouldn't live down there for any amount of money. Flat, hot, and hurricaney. Nuh-uh.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 26, 2008 8:05 PM

Cashie!

[ Bethie ] says:
on August 26, 2008 8:06 PM

Jessi- I don't mind Tiger, but I get tired of seeing him EVERYWHERE. He can't even rehab his knee without showing up on my computer or television. :)

Faith, the river has been out of the banks only once this year, and that was back in April when we had thunderstorms just about every night. I haven't been keeping up with how much rain we have gotten today, I just know it's been a lot.

And I know we need it. But I sure am tired of it.

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 26, 2008 8:07 PM

Haha I know Bethie - he is everywhere. Have you seen him walking on water?

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 26, 2008 8:08 PM

That was a mile off the plate.

[ Bethie ] says:
on August 26, 2008 8:09 PM

No, but I heard he parted the atlantic a few months ago......while on crutches........with an eye patch.

he he

[ jules ] says:
on August 26, 2008 8:09 PM

Karen, that doesn't sound like fun.

Tiger better be resting his knee--I miss seeing him play golf.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 26, 2008 8:09 PM

That was NOT a strike!

[ jenny again ] says:
on August 26, 2008 8:09 PM

Jacoby just got HOSED. Biscuits.

[ Mac ] says:
on August 26, 2008 8:10 PM

That pitch was so outside.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 26, 2008 8:10 PM

Bethie, I feel fortunate that in all the years I have lived in this house, which sits below street level and literally 5 feet from the creek, it has never ever jumped its banks. Not even in 2004. If we can just get this one good soaking, the vegetation and the water tables will be much happier, so I don't mind the several days of rain.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 26, 2008 8:12 PM

Eeewwww, Giambi. :::covers eyes:::

[ Karen ] says:
on August 26, 2008 8:12 PM

Melbourne, FL, is still a disaster area, about 30miles from me. Fay brought 7days of rain, about 16" a day. That explains why it is so flooded there. I wonder how Wakefield made out, he lives in Satellite Beach, on A1A, east of Melbourne. I heard it was bad out there.

[ jules ] says:
on August 26, 2008 8:14 PM

Nice catch, Jacoby.

I don't envy all of you who live in the hurricane zones. BUT, I wouldn't mind some summer rain. It's dry, dry, dry out here.

Whew, glad that went foul.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 26, 2008 8:14 PM

WHy is he growing a mustache again? Has he not looked in a mirror and realized that it looks horrible, and just as greasy and disgusting as the rest of him? But then again, maybe that's the look he's going for.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 26, 2008 8:15 PM

Hopefully Wakey has someone to look out for his property there...

[ jules ] says:
on August 26, 2008 8:15 PM

Jacoby!

That one had me worried.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 26, 2008 8:16 PM

Thank you, Jacoby.

[ jenny again ] says:
on August 26, 2008 8:21 PM

NEW GUY! C'mon, New Guy!

[ fc ] says:
on August 26, 2008 8:23 PM

Aww, Pettitte doesn't like New Guy.

[ jules ] says:
on August 26, 2008 8:24 PM

Bay! Lowrie!

[ Mac ] says:
on August 26, 2008 8:24 PM

Bay! Jed!

[ jenny again ] says:
on August 26, 2008 8:25 PM

*I* like New Guy. ;D

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 26, 2008 8:25 PM

COCOOOO

[ jules ] says:
on August 26, 2008 8:26 PM

YES!!!!!!! Coco! Jed! Lowrie!

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 26, 2008 8:26 PM

And thank you New Guy for running at full speed =]

[ fc ] says:
on August 26, 2008 8:26 PM

What was someone saying about the bottom of the lineup?

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 26, 2008 8:26 PM

Good work, Covelli Loyce!

[ Mac ] says:
on August 26, 2008 8:26 PM

COCO!!!

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 26, 2008 8:26 PM

COCOCOCOCOCO! JED!!!

[ Mac ] says:
on August 26, 2008 8:29 PM

BAILEY!!!!

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 26, 2008 8:29 PM

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

[ Bethie ] says:
on August 26, 2008 8:29 PM

HA HA!!!

Go on with your bad ass Bailey!

Way to go Giambi.

[ Karen ] says:
on August 26, 2008 8:30 PM

Yes.

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 26, 2008 8:30 PM

FUCK i was on the phone for the past minute with my boss and missed that entire play! What happened?

...but all this with two outs!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 26, 2008 8:30 PM

Oooh, I am *liking* this!

[ jenny again ] says:
on August 26, 2008 8:31 PM

Tito starting Bailey at first? GENIUS.

[ Mac ] says:
on August 26, 2008 8:32 PM

Jessi - Bay singled, Jed singled, Coco singled, Bay scored, Jed to third, Coco stole second, Bailey hit one off third base, throw was wide, Bailey was safe, Giambi wasn't looking, Jed and Coco scored.

[ jenny again ] says:
on August 26, 2008 8:32 PM

(My workmate Missy calls Bailey "Jimmy Stewart." ;D)

[ Mac ] says:
on August 26, 2008 8:32 PM

jenny - Yes. Absolutely GENIUS.

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 26, 2008 8:33 PM

Fc - Hey maybe I anti-jinxed them! I am so happy I was wrong =]

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 26, 2008 8:34 PM

Thanks Mac!

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 26, 2008 8:36 PM

Fuck you Damon.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 26, 2008 8:36 PM

Demon...just go away. Please?

[ Mac ] says:
on August 26, 2008 8:36 PM

Curse you, Damon.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 26, 2008 8:37 PM

Fuck you, Demon! I hate you!

[ Karen ] says:
on August 26, 2008 8:38 PM

Really not liking Damon.

[ Bethie ] says:
on August 26, 2008 8:38 PM

Grrr...Johnny Damon.

Someone make Pedie go kick him in the shins.

[ jules ] says:
on August 26, 2008 8:38 PM

dammit, demon.

Come on, Wake!

[ jenny again ] says:
on August 26, 2008 8:39 PM

OK, here's a jam that needs getting out of. Let's go Red Sox!

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 26, 2008 8:39 PM

How about another GIDP, Slappy?

[ Angie ] says:
on August 26, 2008 8:40 PM

Ooh I would love to hear Pedie smack talk Damon

[ Mac ] says:
on August 26, 2008 8:40 PM

Aw, dammit.

[ Mac ] says:
on August 26, 2008 8:41 PM

Another GIDP would be great right about now.

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 26, 2008 8:42 PM

Ok...I'll take the out happily.

[ fc ] says:
on August 26, 2008 8:42 PM

There you go: fans who boo their own.

[ jules ] says:
on August 26, 2008 8:42 PM

Good hustle, Coco.

OK, I *hate* A-Rod, but I can't believe that Yankee fans boo their own team.

[ Angie ] says:
on August 26, 2008 8:44 PM

I thought it was some brave Red Sox fans chanting. But if it was actually Yankee fans, it just proves how classless they are.

[ jenny again ] says:
on August 26, 2008 8:45 PM

Way to man up, Sox.

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 26, 2008 8:45 PM

Huge sigh of relief there...

[ jules ] says:
on August 26, 2008 8:45 PM

whew, that could've been worse.

Time to finish cooking dinner.

[ Bethie ] says:
on August 26, 2008 8:46 PM

Giambi and his stache are pissed.

[ Mac ] says:
on August 26, 2008 8:46 PM

Thank you, Coco.

[ Angie ] says:
on August 26, 2008 8:56 PM

Haha I like that little crawl thing Pedie did.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 26, 2008 8:56 PM

I really really don`t like Girardi.

[ jenny again ] says:
on August 26, 2008 8:58 PM

NEW GUY.

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 26, 2008 8:59 PM

Yay for Bay (though a GS would've been SO much cooler)

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 26, 2008 8:59 PM

Bay!

[ Mac ] says:
on August 26, 2008 9:00 PM

Grand slam would've been very awesome, but I'll take the sac fly.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 26, 2008 9:00 PM

Cathy, yeah...Girardi has a perpetual smirk or something along those lines. And he seems to be a hothead as well.

[ Karen ] says:
on August 26, 2008 9:08 PM

Love the shots of Paps in the bullpen, putting a smile on my face.

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 26, 2008 9:09 PM

Haha Cano can't even hold a bat.

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 26, 2008 9:10 PM

Pap is going to be murdered by the crowd if he makes an appearance.

I don't even want to know what they will chant at him.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 26, 2008 9:14 PM

Yeah Coco! :::grins:::

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 26, 2008 9:20 PM

Come on, Jacoby! Let's have some Jacoco power on the bases!

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 26, 2008 9:24 PM

Oh dear god, MDC - my blood pressure just went up.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 26, 2008 9:27 PM

Come on, MDC! You can do this!

[ jenny again ] says:
on August 26, 2008 9:30 PM

Hey now, Manny Del, go get 'em, kid. C'mon. Litte ground ball here, little GIDP.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 26, 2008 9:32 PM

You can do this, MDC. I believe in you!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 26, 2008 9:32 PM

:::all fingers and toes crossed:::

[ Mac ] says:
on August 26, 2008 9:33 PM

I am so thankful that was foul.

[ Erin-2 ] says:
on August 26, 2008 9:34 PM

I wish Delcarmen would stop making things so difficult.

[ Mac ] says:
on August 26, 2008 9:34 PM

C'mon, MDC!!! You can do this!

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 26, 2008 9:34 PM

Fuck. I am really scared right now.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 26, 2008 9:35 PM

Okay, a clutch situation for Slappy. I'm calling a GIDP right now.

[ Bethie ] says:
on August 26, 2008 9:36 PM

::sigh:: Manny Del.

Watching you pitch sometimes just makes me sad.

[ Karen ] says:
on August 26, 2008 9:36 PM

If he doesn't watch out, I'm gonna at MDC to my nervous list, Oki and Timlin.

[ jenny again ] says:
on August 26, 2008 9:37 PM

Oh, Manny Del. Sadface.

Hey now, J-Mast. HERO TIME.

[ Mac ] says:
on August 26, 2008 9:38 PM

C'mon Justin! Get the outs!

Please.

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 26, 2008 9:38 PM

OH MY GOD I LOVE YOU J-MAST!!!

[ fc ] says:
on August 26, 2008 9:38 PM

YEAH BABY!

(Coincidentally, is that what Masetrson just said?)

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 26, 2008 9:39 PM

Yee HAAAAA!!!!!

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 26, 2008 9:39 PM

YEAH!!!!!

[ Mac ] says:
on August 26, 2008 9:39 PM

THANK YOU JUSTIN!

Way to be clutch, A-rod.

[ jenny again ] says:
on August 26, 2008 9:40 PM

Man, that was sweet. Sinkerballer FTW.

[ Angie ] says:
on August 26, 2008 9:40 PM

Nice double play! And thank you Masterson.

I never thought I'd ever say this but I feel kind of bad for A-Rod because his own fans are booing him.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 26, 2008 9:42 PM

That was a giggleworthy stat. A-Rod has GDIPed 9 times in the last 19 games.

[ Mac ] says:
on August 26, 2008 9:43 PM

Papi!

[ jenny again ] says:
on August 26, 2008 9:44 PM

IBB to Youk means ... COME ON, NEW GUY!

[ fc ] says:
on August 26, 2008 9:45 PM

Youk's batting stance looks even more absurd when he's being in tentionally walked.

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 26, 2008 9:46 PM

Running out a grounder to third - thank you New Guy.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 26, 2008 9:47 PM

LOLdefense!

[ Mac ] says:
on August 26, 2008 9:47 PM

Thank you, New Guy.

COME ON JED!

[ jenny again ] says:
on August 26, 2008 9:47 PM

THANK YOU, E5-ROD.

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 26, 2008 9:52 PM

Not a good night for Pedie...

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 26, 2008 9:54 PM

Awww, shit...

[ jenny again ] says:
on August 26, 2008 9:54 PM

BISCUITRY.

sigh.

OK, Oki, herotime!

[ Mac ] says:
on August 26, 2008 9:54 PM

GIDP, please?

DAMMIT.

Triple play, please?

[ Karen ] says:
on August 26, 2008 9:54 PM

Oki, please be good.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 26, 2008 9:56 PM

Oki, you can do this. You pitched 2 scoreless innings against Baltimore, you can do anything.

[ Mac ] says:
on August 26, 2008 9:57 PM

C'mon, Oki! Please get out of the inning.

[ Bethie ] says:
on August 26, 2008 9:57 PM

Time to pray

[ Karen ] says:
on August 26, 2008 9:59 PM

Oki makes me very nervous. Please give me my Paps.

[ Karen ] says:
on August 26, 2008 10:00 PM

I knew I should have had a drink.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 26, 2008 10:01 PM

OKI!!!

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 26, 2008 10:05 PM

How much Japanese do you think Cash knows?

[ Karen ] says:
on August 26, 2008 10:06 PM

Paps, Thank God.

[ Bethie ] says:
on August 26, 2008 10:06 PM

Okie, you make me proud.

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 26, 2008 10:08 PM

You know, for a sell-out crowd, there are a ton of empty seats...

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 26, 2008 10:08 PM

I love my Papelbon. One pitch. Brilliant.

[ Lulu ] says:
on August 26, 2008 10:08 PM

Paps! Look at that! The bullpen is doing it's job!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 26, 2008 10:09 PM

That was great. So cool and collected. Done.

[ Karen ] says:
on August 26, 2008 10:10 PM

Maybe the Yankee fans left. Love Paps, I still wish we could go from starter to him and skip the middle.

[ Mac ] says:
on August 26, 2008 10:10 PM

I wasn't paying attention for a minute. Pap got Pudge out on one pitch?

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 26, 2008 10:11 PM

Karen - Yea, I was saying that the "fans" left the game despite only being down by a few runs.

Mac - One pitch, Pudge rolled it right to Pap.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 26, 2008 10:13 PM

Coco!

[ Mac ] says:
on August 26, 2008 10:13 PM

Thanks, Jessi!

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 26, 2008 10:15 PM

I read a quote once that some of the Yank pitchers (such as Mussina and Pettite) don't like throwing to Pudge because he calls pitches that give him a better chance to throw out runners. Ever since that I've noticed that with speedy guys on base, he does pay a ton of attention to them. Am I imagining this?

[ Mac ] says:
on August 26, 2008 10:17 PM

Cash!

[ Ian ] says:
on August 26, 2008 10:18 PM

From Rob Bradford:

Sources confirm to WEEI.com that the Red Sox have agreed in principle on a trade that would send outfielder Mark Kotsay to the Sox from the Atlanta Braves for a minor league pitcher not on Boston’s 40-man roster. The teams are now just awaiting the results of the medical reports on Kotsay, who did do a stint on the 15-day disabled list this year with a bad back.

[ Angie ] says:
on August 26, 2008 10:19 PM

The Rays lost by 4 runs!

[ fc ] says:
on August 26, 2008 10:19 PM

Geez, all those empty seats. Guess those fans can't bear to part with their precious stadium.

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 26, 2008 10:20 PM

Kotsay? Another outfielder?

[ Ian ] says:
on August 26, 2008 10:21 PM

Just lost J.D. to the disabled list and they will just send down Thurston or Bailey to make room for him.

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 26, 2008 10:21 PM

This JD thing must be worse than they're letting on, then.

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 26, 2008 10:22 PM

Aw I really hoping to see Drew back in the lineup soon, but Kotsay seems like a solid hitter at least.

[ Ian ] says:
on August 26, 2008 10:22 PM

Even though Drew went on the disabled list today, he can come off the DL on Tuesday since the move was made retroactive to monday august 18th.

He's got a herniated disc and from experience, you have your good days and you have your bad days. Bad days really suck balls. Trust me on that one.

[ Piney61 ] says:
on August 26, 2008 10:23 PM

This team is like the Maguyver of baseball teams. But I'm glad to hear of the Rays losing.

BTW hello :)

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 26, 2008 10:23 PM

My god, Yankee Stadium is EMPTY. I was hearing all these reports of how high ticket prices were so high and everything was sold out.

This is the last Red Sox series at their stadium and teh fans won't even stick it out?

[ Lulu ] says:
on August 26, 2008 10:24 PM

yay! Rays lost! This is when the lead they have will start to disappear...

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 26, 2008 10:24 PM

Lowries first error...sniff.

[ Lulu ] says:
on August 26, 2008 10:24 PM

I know, but we can't have more errors

[ fc ] says:
on August 26, 2008 10:24 PM

I don't believe what I just saw.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 26, 2008 10:25 PM

That is just *bizarre*, Jessi...I would think it would be standing room only to see this series!

[ Mac ] says:
on August 26, 2008 10:25 PM

Aww Jed. :(

[ Ian ] says:
on August 26, 2008 10:27 PM

Fair weather new york fans.

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 26, 2008 10:27 PM

Yea I know ecl - I wonder if the Yanks are down by more than 5 runs in their final game at the Stadium if the fans would stay...

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 26, 2008 10:28 PM

It's really sad that they're booing him in the bottom of the 9th like this.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 26, 2008 10:29 PM

I wonder if, when A-Rod's contract finally runs out, the NY fans will be very glad to see him go.

[ fc ] says:
on August 26, 2008 10:30 PM

I think the only people left are Sox fans.

[ Ian ] says:
on August 26, 2008 10:30 PM

when's that ecl in another 10 years when it expires

[ Jessi ] says:
on August 26, 2008 10:30 PM

HAHA you suck K-Rod.

Nice win! Even if we lose the series, we will only lose a game in the standings - I can breathe a bit now.

Good game overall. Wake was solid. The score would be 7-1 w/o Damon. The bottom third of our lineup hit (!). And our relievers did not allow a single run.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 26, 2008 10:30 PM

WOOHOO!!! Just 3 games behind TB. Let's go out and do it all over gain tomorrow night!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 26, 2008 10:31 PM

Yeah, you're right Ian. He'll be an old man by then, won't he?

[ jenny again ] says:
on August 26, 2008 10:31 PM

Nice win, boys. Way to pick up a game on the Devil Rays, too. I like it.

Now, sleeps. See you cats tomorrow night!

[ Karen ] says:
on August 26, 2008 10:31 PM

Yes! Love ya Paps. Happy Dreams Tonight. Any little bit of happiness is good today.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 26, 2008 10:32 PM

We're on national blackout tomorrow, right?

Yeah, sleep for me too. I'm exhausted. E-mails can wait.

[ Bethie ] says:
on August 26, 2008 10:32 PM

Player of the game for the Red Sox???

Mr. Alex Rodriguez.

Thank you a-hole for your contribution to the win!

Night everyone!

[ Mac ] says:
on August 26, 2008 10:32 PM

Yay! A win! And the Rays lose to Toronto! :D

[ Cathy ] says:
on August 26, 2008 10:32 PM

He'll be 42. Who the hell signs somebody until they're 42????

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on August 26, 2008 10:33 PM

Cathy, especially when even now they're not playing like the "greatest of all time" or whatever he's supposed to be. Pfffft.

[ Mac ] says:
on August 26, 2008 10:33 PM

ecl, I don't think tomorrow night's game will be blacked out. I've seen games on mlb.tv while it was also on ESPN.

[ Angie ] says:
on August 26, 2008 10:34 PM

Yeah Sox! Good game today. The gap is closing between us and the Rays which makes me veyr very happy.

Good night everyone.

[ Karen ] says:
on August 26, 2008 10:35 PM

I didn't realize the game was on ESPN tomorrow nite. Good.

[ Ian ] says:
on August 26, 2008 10:37 PM

Big win tonight for the boys especially with the Rays losing.

No blackout tomorrow night. Only people who get the Yankees and Red Sox on television will be blacked out locally.

[ Karen ] says:
on August 26, 2008 10:39 PM

I usually watch both Espn and online. We'll see which is worse Espn announcers or Yankee announcers.
Night

[ fc ] says:
on August 26, 2008 10:40 PM

Putting Masterson in the pen was a fantastic idea.
