Unfortunately, I have a *huge* prototype demo tomorrow that I'm getting ready for. Of course, when I need "dummy data," I use Sox players' names. heeheee Gotta keep the designer (moi) amused.
Watching games at work? Kind of infuriating but also kind of awesome. Sure makes the day go faster.
Agreed 1000%, Texy.
I'm totally hoping that Lester is the Yankee-killer today that he was in his last start against them. That would be true awesomeness. Don't forget your mojo, guys!
Jules, doing ok, still job hunting. I am going back to my seasonal job in October from last year, it pays low, but it's in town, and something, but only lasts through the first week of January.
"Jacoco" is the funniest thing I've heard all day!
Though I have to admit, I'm okay with less Jacoco and more just Jacoby... though Coco has been playing better since getting back in the lineup daily...
TG: A-Rod is definitely not a failure. However, he very much is a victim of circumstances that he helped to create.
His asshattery last year at the end of the World Series was a disgrace to the game, and his newer, bigger deal netting him $25M+ per year makes him a very attractive target for criticism. He's done a lot, but the problem is, having the biggest contract in baseball, you expect him to have the production to match. It's pretty much impossible to meet these expectations, but that's the situation he created for himself by making himself so pricey--and by intentionally making himself the center of attention with his antics.
I hate A-Rod. I think he's a freak weirdo tool. But that has nothing to do with his skills as a ballplayer.
He is the best baseball player of his generation. And he absolutely does have the production. He is far and away the best hitter on that team, and the best fielder. His VORP is stratospheric. Any Yankees fan who boos him is an idiot.
Hey howdy...just checking in for a moment in between tasks. Wish I could listen at work but the IT folks would have my head! Looking forward to following along *just a little bit* and then catching the archives tonight.
fc, it has something to do with streaming audio/video slowing down the network for the several hundred people who are using it. IT doesn't usually monitor individual computer usage, but if they detect a problem, they will zero in on it, and offenders are subject to losing their internet privileges (and I do use the internet for work reasons, so that would suck). So...the only time I even do something such as watch a 30-second video clip is if I'm working late.
And...after all, I'm supposed to be working right now.
My favorite part was when the bartender made a point at the end of the night to come over and say, "You girls sure know a lot about baseball." (unspoken part: FOR GIRLS.)
I think it was me pulling Fernando's name out of my ass that did the trick. And that we were correctly able to identify the height and weight of both Jason Bay and Dustin Pedroia -- and those four old guys were PISSED they were wrong.
Hurricane: I know--most of the BP has been good lately (in spite of our impressions). I think I probably would have put in Masterson, though, to work the one out and then the 8th.
the big strike zone ump has decided to shrink it here in the 9th. He had strike 3 on Nady and strike 3 on IRod who has had 1 rbi with the yankees and has walked abuot 8 times all season!
Just got back from work....I only listened to one part of the game in which Jacoby was screwed over on a stolen base call(at least thats how Castig and O'Brien seemed to insinuate)
I just went back to work today and will be there tomorrow with the many Yankee fans that are my friends. Though, who in the right mind would argue that this was a big game for the Sox?
Jessi: It's not a big game for the Sox. It's not even really a big game for the Yankees--unless the entire NY press would like to take back the obituaries they were writing this morning.
No panic allowed re: Beckett. It's never good to hear your ace is paying a visit to Dr. Andrews. But, well, let's hold onto our optimism while we still are able.
There's no reason to overreact to the news about him going to see Dr. James Andrews. yes those are the most hated words in baseball besides Scott Boras but until you hear the news there's no reason to speculate.
