Fantastic Timing

Someone in the Portland Sea Dogs is psychic... and has a wicked sense of humor.

After being demoted from the big boy Sox down to the AA-Sea Dogs last week, Clay Buchholz is making his first start for Portland tonight at Hadlock Field. And in a stroke of horrible coincidence (genius?), tonight is Clay Buchholz Bobblehead night.

Meant to be a tribute to the no-hitter hurler major leaguer by his former minor league club, the Buchholz Bobble (sporting a Sea Dogs uni) is now an awfully ironic reminder of how fleeting big league status can be.

At least he'll be a record-breaker: Clay will be the first Sea Dogs player appearing at Hadlock Field the same night his own bobblehead is being given away. Gulp.

The universe is always finding ways to make me laugh. And then feel bad about it.
