Welcome To Boston, Mrs. HotKotsay

Gorden Edes may have gone all Yahoo! on us, but he's still delivering the Boston-based scoops. Per Mr. Edes:

The Boston Red Sox acquired outfielder Mark Kotsay from the Atlanta Braves on Tuesday night pending a physical, according to a baseball source with knowledge of the deal. The Braves will receive a minor-league pitcher in return.
This move, which was rumored all day long (and has been floating around the interwebs even longer), brings some depth to the DL-depleted outfield.

Fortunately for the Sox, Marky Mark (yes, I'm going to call him that) brings with him a .289 BA and a .338 OBP (compared to .257/.319 from Coco).

Fortunately for male Sox fans, he also brings his very hot wife with him as well.

Mark may look like slightly like a serial killer... but if Gordon is right, then he's our serial killer. And with Julian "Freddy Krueger" Tavarez gone, our serial killer quotient had fallen way off.

I wonder if Theo knows something he's not telling us yet...as in, is J.D. out for the season? Or is this just a precaution?

I wonder who the minor league pitcher is. I hope it's not Bowden or Zink.

Marky Mark? +1

No chance in the world that it's Bowden. I wonder if they can get back Julian in a 2 for 1 deal. That would be fantastic

With J.D.'s back putting him on the DL, this is a good move for the post-season. J.D. could be good to go after the DL, but you just never know with a back.

Just saying, earlier in the spring, sports pundits were saying the Sox had too much in the outfield this year, and we should ASAP trade Coco. If you can't be too thin or too rich (a statement I have some issues with; another story), you can't be too deep as a team, at any position in baseball.
