Let's Go RED SOX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PVs to southeast Texas in recuperating from Ike. PVs to my family there.

I was so relieved to hear from my family this morning. There was some damage- but not severe. More importantly, everyone (including animals) are all OK.

holy wow, I can finally read the site again..

[ Erin ] says:

Texy - it's good to hear that your family is OK.

By the way, hi all.

[ Cathy ] says:
on September 13, 2008 12:39 PM

Good effort, Coco.

[ B ] says:

Hey everyone. Relieved it's the weekend... GO SOX!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 13, 2008 12:41 PM

That's good news, Texy. I'm awaiting the post-storm e-mail from my NY cousins who are funneling info from the Houston cousins.

Still finishing my morning (uh-huh) routine and will be back here shortly. GO SOX!

[ Mac ] says:
on September 13, 2008 12:41 PM

Six doubleheaders in one day.... I wonder what the record is.

[ Angie ] says:
on September 13, 2008 12:42 PM

I'm glad that everyone is okay down there. These hurricanes are getting nastier and nastier.

Yay for the red jerseys!

[ Jessi ] says:
on September 13, 2008 12:42 PM

Hey all!

[ Jessi ] says:
on September 13, 2008 12:45 PM

I'm glad to hear that everybody is okay.

Jacoby!

[ B ] says:

Yay Jacoby!!!

[ Mary ] says:
on September 13, 2008 12:45 PM

Hey all!
I was supposed to be in Boston today... not at the game, just in Boston. But a fantastic stomache ache has kept me home. Oh well, happy double header day!

PS: I love the red jerseys...

[ jules ] says:
on September 13, 2008 12:45 PM

Hi All!

MLB/Directv has decided to black me out of this game. Grrrrrrrrrrr...

Glad everyone's family in Ike's path is OK. Wonderful news!

Forecast: no rain today, scattered thunderstorms likely tomorrow. grr

Jacoby!

[ lone1c ] says:
on September 13, 2008 12:51 PM

10 pitches, advances Jacoby to third? I'll take it.

[ B ] says:
on September 13, 2008 12:54 PM

Why, Mike? WHYYYYY?

[ lone1c ] says:
on September 13, 2008 12:55 PM

Dangit.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 13, 2008 12:56 PM

Just peeking back in -- love those red jerseys, yes.

The first family report has come in. So far everyone is fine, although one cousin has not yet been heard from. He's sheltering his 94-year-old mother in an apartment complex full of trees, which is a little bit worrisome. My favorite cousin, who lives in downtown Houston in a 3rd floor apartment, spent the night in a closet because the building was shaking, and right now I wish I could give him a great big hug.

[ Karen ] says:
on September 13, 2008 12:56 PM

Finally dragged myself out of bed. Been feeling crappy all week.

[ lone1c ] says:
on September 13, 2008 12:59 PM

ecl: Sorry to hear that you had famiy stil in Houston, but good to hear that they're mostly OK.

[ B ] says:
on September 13, 2008 1:00 PM

Jeez, ecl. I am definitely grateful that I don't live anywhere near those hurricanes...

[ Angie ] says:
on September 13, 2008 1:00 PM

Aw poor Drew. And I hope you're family is okay ecl.

[ jules ] says:
on September 13, 2008 1:00 PM

ecl, I hope your cousin is OK. I can't imagine how terrifying it must have been.

karen, I hope you're feeling better.

just got off the phone with Directv--Fox has exclusive rights to games shown during the day, so no Sox for me. Trolls.

[ lone1c ] says:
on September 13, 2008 1:00 PM

Good job, Byrd.

[ Mac ] says:
on September 13, 2008 1:01 PM

ecl - It's good to hear that, so far, your family is OK. Again, I hope they stay safe.

[ lone1c ] says:
on September 13, 2008 1:02 PM

jules: Where are you? (I know for MLB.tv, there's no blackout for a game that starts at 12.35, like this one did. . . .)

[ B ] says:
on September 13, 2008 1:05 PM

Jules, mine's blacked out too. I'm not happy.

[ Karen ] says:
on September 13, 2008 1:10 PM

Somehow I am getting a URI vs NH football game. Odd, since I am in Florida. My sister went to URI so don't mind watching.

[ Jessi ] says:
on September 13, 2008 1:12 PM

Pedie!

[ lone1c ] says:
on September 13, 2008 1:12 PM

Have the scheduling gnomes taken the day off today?

And nice play by Pleats!

[ lone1c ] says:
on September 13, 2008 1:17 PM

Tito: Why did you stick Varitek in front of Coco and Jacoby?

[ Angie ] says:
on September 13, 2008 1:20 PM

How about a nice RBI Pedie?

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 13, 2008 1:21 PM

Pffft. Lost my internet connection and ended up rebooting the computer. So now I'm back, but haven't yet logged back into the mlb site.

Folks, thanks much about the Houston cousins. The one who spent the night in the closet is a really tough little dude and I've only ever heard him use the word "scared" once in all the time I've known him, so it must have been pretty bad, which hurts my heart. He's probably pretty preoccupied right now, but I may try to call him later just to satisfy myself that he's not totally traumatized.

[ Jessi ] says:
on September 13, 2008 1:23 PM

Ughh.

[ lone1c ] says:
on September 13, 2008 1:23 PM

Papi, dangit!

[ Angie ] says:
on September 13, 2008 1:24 PM

Seriously Papi? Ugh

[ Mac ] says:
on September 13, 2008 1:24 PM

Dear offense,

Please stop leaving runners in scoring postion.

-Mac

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 13, 2008 1:24 PM

I see I didn't miss the happiest baseball in the world.

[ Mac ] says:
on September 13, 2008 1:26 PM

Nice catch, Coco!

[ lone1c ] says:
on September 13, 2008 1:26 PM

Coco being Coco!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 13, 2008 1:27 PM

Seeing Coco make that catch just improved my day considerably.

[ Jessi ] says:
on September 13, 2008 1:27 PM

I forgot how much I despise Vernon Wells.

[ lone1c ] says:
on September 13, 2008 1:29 PM

Nice baserunning job, Vernon!

[ Jessi ] says:
on September 13, 2008 1:29 PM

Nice!

[ Jessi ] says:
on September 13, 2008 1:30 PM

:sigh: Gee I wish we could get some runs...

[ lone1c ] says:
on September 13, 2008 1:30 PM

2-0. Yuk. But then again, given the way the ball was hit, getting the runner out at 3rd was as good as we could hope for, I guess.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 13, 2008 1:31 PM

Maybe the bats are about to wake up?

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 13, 2008 1:34 PM

Hey, bonus Jed coverage!

[ lone1c ] says:
on September 13, 2008 1:36 PM

Another random Lowrie stat I saw last night (can't remember where, though): he's had 2+ RBI in 14 games. The Sox' record in those games: 14-0.

[ Mac ] says:
on September 13, 2008 1:41 PM

Shit.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 13, 2008 1:41 PM

Aaaah, SHIT.

[ Jennie ] says:
on September 13, 2008 1:41 PM

Crap :(

[ Jessi ] says:
on September 13, 2008 1:41 PM

Shit. Oh and the Rays are now up 2-0.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 13, 2008 1:42 PM

Back to what you were saying, lone, Jed is quite awesome. I hope we can keep him around for a long, LONG time. And he seems like a total sweetie.

[ Karen ] says:
on September 13, 2008 1:42 PM

Ok, is this payback for last night?

[ lone1c ] says:
on September 13, 2008 1:42 PM

CRAP!!!

At this point, we might as well leave Byrd in--no point in wasting our bullpen too badly when we have two more games to get through.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 13, 2008 1:43 PM

Karen, looks like BP to me. :::sigh:::

[ lone1c ] says:
on September 13, 2008 1:45 PM

ecl: I hope we can keep him, too--and I think the Sox really wouldn't want to get rid of a doubles-hitting, multi-position-playing, inexpensive infielder. (I can totally see why Minnesota wanted him as part of the Santana deal.)

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 13, 2008 1:48 PM

Personally, I'd love to see the team remain as intact as possible for next year. I get so attached...

[ Mac ] says:
on September 13, 2008 1:49 PM

Dear offense,

Please don't suck.

Sincerely,
Mac

[ Jessi ] says:
on September 13, 2008 1:51 PM

Another hit!

[ Angie ] says:
on September 13, 2008 1:52 PM

crosses fingers...

[ Jessi ] says:
on September 13, 2008 1:53 PM

Jacoby!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 13, 2008 1:53 PM

Jacoby being Jacoby!

[ Mac ] says:
on September 13, 2008 1:55 PM

Jacoby!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 13, 2008 1:56 PM

Oh Papi...

[ lone1c ] says:
on September 13, 2008 1:56 PM

STOP STRANDING BASERUNNERS, DAMMIT!

[ Jessi ] says:
on September 13, 2008 1:56 PM

This is so damn frustrating.

[ lone1c ] says:
on September 13, 2008 2:02 PM

Jed with the DP!

[ Mac ] says:
on September 13, 2008 2:02 PM

DP! Nice!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 13, 2008 2:03 PM

Whoops, missed the DP -- had to leave the room for a minute.

[ lone1c ] says:
on September 13, 2008 2:04 PM

Note to Aardsma: The strike zone is about three inches to your left.

[ lone1c ] says:
on September 13, 2008 2:04 PM

ecl: It was a 6-3, with 6 putting out the runner at 2nd.

[ Mac ] says:
on September 13, 2008 2:06 PM

C'mon, Aardsma! GET THE OUT!

[ Mac ] says:
on September 13, 2008 2:07 PM

Shit.

[ Jessi ] says:
on September 13, 2008 2:08 PM

So I think this game may be over now...

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 13, 2008 2:08 PM

Awww, this totally sucks.

[ lone1c ] says:
on September 13, 2008 2:08 PM

WTF? I mean seriously, WTF is going on at Fenway? This is getting ridiculous.

[ Jessi ] says:
on September 13, 2008 2:09 PM

More BP - awesome. Screw it, we should just throw Timlin in and have him eat up all the innings.

[ Karen ] says:
on September 13, 2008 2:10 PM

Hopefully Toronto will be tired later, and we will have a chance to win.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 13, 2008 2:13 PM

That's what I'm hoping, Karen.

[ Mac ] says:
on September 13, 2008 2:13 PM

Karen - I hope so.

[ Karen ] says:
on September 13, 2008 2:16 PM

I'm falling asleep now, I'm supposed to go to church before the next game, if I can stay awake. I have been sleeping 2hrs at a time all week, due to not feeling well.

[ Jessi ] says:
on September 13, 2008 2:22 PM

Don't worry, we're not the only team not hitting - the Yankees haven't done a thing either.

[ Jessi ] says:
on September 13, 2008 2:24 PM

Georgie!!

[ Mac ] says:
on September 13, 2008 2:24 PM

Kottaras!!

[ Mac ] says:
on September 13, 2008 2:26 PM

Nice 1-2-3 inning, Hansack!

[ Angie ] says:
on September 13, 2008 2:27 PM

Jessi, I'm hoping they'lll get some hits so the Rays will lose. I can't believe I'm saying this but go...Yankees...?

[ Jessi ] says:
on September 13, 2008 2:28 PM

Me too Angie. It sucks that they Yankees look all but dead now.

[ Jessi ] says:
on September 13, 2008 2:30 PM

Yay Kottaras!

[ Jessi ] says:
on September 13, 2008 2:33 PM

3-0 Rays, second and third with no outs.

I'm taking on the attitude that as long as we're in the post-season then I'll be happy.

[ Jessi ] says:
on September 13, 2008 2:34 PM

Make that bases loaded, no outs.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 13, 2008 2:34 PM

Hee...

[ lone1c ] says:
on September 13, 2008 2:38 PM

Angie: It's hard to root for the Yankees, but it's who we have to root for right now. Once they move on to another team, we can root for their destruction again.

[ Jessi ] says:
on September 13, 2008 2:40 PM

Evan Longoria is also looking great today and just drove in two more runs. 5-0 Rays.

[ Karen ] says:
on September 13, 2008 2:41 PM

Yeah! 1 run. So sad how happy we are to have 1 run.

[ Mac ] says:
on September 13, 2008 2:41 PM

Yay! A run!

[ Jessi ] says:
on September 13, 2008 2:44 PM

Cash at third?

[ Mac ] says:
on September 13, 2008 2:44 PM

WTF? Cash at 3rd?

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 13, 2008 2:44 PM

Cash at 3B? What a strange game...

[ Angie ] says:
on September 13, 2008 2:45 PM

Woah Cash at third? Okay Tito I guess I trust whatever you're doing here.

[ Karen ] says:
on September 13, 2008 2:46 PM

This is odd. Next we will see pitchers hitting.

[ blood and whiskey ] says:
on September 13, 2008 2:46 PM

I guess I'm not the only one thourougly confused by Cash at third..

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 13, 2008 2:47 PM

I guess it's kind of like the last couple of minutes of a basketball blowout where the entire bench comes in. :::sigh:::

[ Mac ] says:
on September 13, 2008 2:47 PM

Karen - Or position players pitching.

[ Mac ] says:
on September 13, 2008 2:48 PM

And another nice 1-2-3 inning for Hansack.

[ lone1c ] says:
on September 13, 2008 2:49 PM

Well, we are down by seven runs with two innings to go. It makes some sense to rest the night starters as quickly as possible. . . .

[ Karen ] says:
on September 13, 2008 2:49 PM

Papelbon used to play centerfield before becoming a pitcher, and Cora used to pitch.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 13, 2008 2:49 PM

I wonder who's left to bring in...I think the only original position players left are Coco and The Mayor...

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 13, 2008 2:50 PM

I think it would be a hoot to see Cora pitch.

[ Mace ] says:
on September 13, 2008 2:50 PM

ecl - Jed started the game, too.

[ lone1c ] says:
on September 13, 2008 2:51 PM

And Lowrie's back at SS after being bounced to third--unless they've pulled him, too.

[ Mac ] says:
on September 13, 2008 2:51 PM

That should say "Mac" not "Mace." :P

[ Karen ] says:
on September 13, 2008 2:51 PM

Cora pitching would be good. Putting Pitchers in the outfield would be good too.

[ Angie ] says:
on September 13, 2008 2:51 PM

I would love to see Cora pitch! Okay offense let's work some magic.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 13, 2008 2:52 PM

At this point I think I'll take Cora's hit. :::grin:::

[ Mac ] says:
on September 13, 2008 2:52 PM

I would love to see Cora pitch! I remember him warming up in the 'pen in one game. I so wanted to see him pitch then.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 13, 2008 2:53 PM

Mac, you're correct, Jed is still in. My bad -- I got confused looking at all the changes in the box score.

[ Mac ] says:
on September 13, 2008 2:55 PM

No worries, ecl. I'd be confused looking at all the changes in the box score, too.

[ lone1c ] says:
on September 13, 2008 3:01 PM

Mac: Cora pitching would be even more fun if Pleats were behind the plate. . . .

[ Jennie ] says:
on September 13, 2008 3:02 PM

Well, at least Jerry and Don are amusing.

[ Jessi ] says:
on September 13, 2008 3:02 PM

At least Hansack is looking good.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 13, 2008 3:03 PM

Very nice job by Hansack. I hope he sticks around.

[ lone1c ] says:
on September 13, 2008 3:03 PM

Agreed.

[ Mac ] says:
on September 13, 2008 3:04 PM

That's the one thing I want to see in my life: Dustin Pedroia behind the plate. I don't care if it's an exhibition game or an ST game or it's a regular season game. I wanna see Pedie catching, dammit!

And agreed. Hansack has done a very nice job so far.

[ lone1c ] says:
on September 13, 2008 3:06 PM

Mac: He can do it wherever and whenever he wants--so long as there are cameras there to record it for all posterity!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 13, 2008 3:07 PM

Giggling at the thought of Pedey behind the plate.

[ Mac ] says:
on September 13, 2008 3:08 PM

Carter!

[ Mac ] says:
on September 13, 2008 3:10 PM

lone: Agreed. And he needs to be mic'd up. I wanna hear his smack talk.

[ lone1c ] says:
on September 13, 2008 3:10 PM

Blecch. But if we're going to lose one, this is the one I'd have expected. Let's hope tonight goes much more smoothly.

Later.

[ Karen ] says:
on September 13, 2008 3:10 PM

Ok, that was sad. Going to rest and see you all later.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 13, 2008 3:10 PM

Better luck tonight. :::sigh:::

Back to the hurricane coverage.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 13, 2008 3:11 PM

Karen, feel better!

[ Mac ] says:
on September 13, 2008 3:11 PM

That wasn't so great. Hope they do better tonight. Bye for now, all.

[ Angie ] says:
on September 13, 2008 3:12 PM

Can't watch the game tonight but I hope it goes better.

[ Jessi ] says:
on September 13, 2008 3:12 PM

Sucky game. Hopefully the offense will show up tonight. I may be at the movies though. Cya!

[ Adam ] says:
on September 13, 2008 5:53 PM

I hope the sox dont get shutout by that pile of garbage that is known as Jesse Litsch. Then again, you can only hope and pray that fat Colon gives you a decent start

[ Adam ] says:
on September 13, 2008 5:58 PM

wow Cash actually played 3rd. I thought he went in and pitch ran at 3rd. Hahah that is fantastic.

[ Liza ] says:
on September 13, 2008 6:57 PM

Hey everyone. Yay for Colon. AND YAY FOR LITSCH AND DROOLABLE CROSS-SEAMERS.

Kottaras was great earlier. What a first major-league plate appearance, eh? (Canada jokes abound, what with the Jays playing against a team with Bay and Kottaras...)

[ lone1c ] says:
on September 13, 2008 7:04 PM

Liza: Drooling over cross-seamers can wait for another day. Tonight, I hope the Sox break him open like a piņata.

[ Liza ] says:
on September 13, 2008 7:06 PM

But... but... he's on my TV.

Maybe they're so drool-able he walks everyone?

[ Liza ] says:
on September 13, 2008 7:09 PM

Scooter: you're awesome, but don't do that--don't get hits and don't decapitate our pitcher.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 13, 2008 7:09 PM

Ha ha, Liza...you're conflicted, aren't you?

[ Karen ] says:
on September 13, 2008 7:11 PM

Ended up napping instead of church. Really hoping to feel better before Tampa trip.

[ Mary ] says:
on September 13, 2008 7:11 PM

Well, a bad day that has gotten WORSE cannot be fixed, but maybe it can be vaguely healed for the moment by a good game.... come on boys :)

[ lone1c ] says:
on September 13, 2008 7:12 PM

Anyway the Sox beat the stuffing out of the Jays tonight is fine by me, so long as it gets done.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 13, 2008 7:12 PM

Karen, I think that was an *excellent* idea. No point in going to church when you're sick!

[ Liza ] says:
on September 13, 2008 7:15 PM

Ecl - Just a bit. The afternoon game was so hard for me. >

Mary, what happened?

[ lone1c ] says:
on September 13, 2008 7:16 PM

If it's something catchable, then it's definitely not "loving thy neighbor" to go to church while sick. . . .

[ Cathy ] says:
on September 13, 2008 7:17 PM

PEDIE!!!!!!!!!

[ lone1c ] says:
on September 13, 2008 7:17 PM

Pedey being Pedey!

[ Liza ] says:
on September 13, 2008 7:17 PM

Pedie!

[ lone1c ] says:
on September 13, 2008 7:18 PM

(Dustin really should just change his name to "Doubles" and get it over with. . . .)

[ Karen ] says:
on September 13, 2008 7:19 PM

What I have can't be caught, but just as horrible for me, a really bad uti.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 13, 2008 7:20 PM

Karen, I've only had one of those in my life and hope to never, EVER have another one. Gaaahhh. I hope you've gotten some antibiotics for that, and feel better soon!

[ Karen ] says:
on September 13, 2008 7:20 PM

Tampa Bay vs NYY is on here.

[ lone1c ] says:
on September 13, 2008 7:20 PM

Ouch, Karen. Sorry to hear that.

[ Karen ] says:
on September 13, 2008 7:22 PM

Ecl, unfortunately being unemployed and broke, can't afford to go to the doctor. Lots of cranberry juice and pills, water, yogurt, acidolphlus.

[ Cathy ] says:
on September 13, 2008 7:25 PM

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

[ lone1c ] says:
on September 13, 2008 7:25 PM

AWESOME!!!!

[ Liza ] says:
on September 13, 2008 7:26 PM

THANK YOU JESSE LITSCH

[ Mary ] says:
on September 13, 2008 7:26 PM

Ok, that just made my day.

[ lone1c ] says:
on September 13, 2008 7:26 PM

A bases-clearing wild pitch? How often does THAT happen?

[ Karen ] says:
on September 13, 2008 7:26 PM

Yes!!

[ Mac ] says:
on September 13, 2008 7:27 PM

Yay for bases-clearing wild pitches!

(by the way, hi all.)

[ Karen ] says:
on September 13, 2008 7:28 PM

Garza is pitching for Tampa and having issues. Yankees just scored 1.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 13, 2008 7:29 PM

That was great! My post immediately afterwards didn't go through (stupid slow connection!), so let me just say...WOOHOO!

And Karen, your healing methods all sound very helpful, although you may want to check for a sliding scale clinic or health department in your area that serves the uninsured or unemployed.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 13, 2008 7:30 PM

Karen, thanks for the score update from Noo Yawk. Great news!

[ Mary ] says:
on September 13, 2008 7:31 PM

Liza - I had to interview for a tech position for the Shakespeare play we're doing.
And... I didn't get anything. Not even set crew. Not even spotlight.
And this morning I was supposed to go with all my friends into Boston for a concert, but I felt sick so I stayed home.
But now I feel perfectly fine, so I should have gone.
(Sorry it took a while to respond hahaha)

[ Mac ] says:
on September 13, 2008 7:33 PM

Karen - Thanks for the score update. And I hope you feel better soon!

[ Karen ] says:
on September 13, 2008 7:34 PM

Longoria has a lame mo-hawk. Would look better if it was all shaved off.
Ponson pitching for the Yankees.

[ Liza ] says:
on September 13, 2008 7:39 PM

Aw, Mary. That sucks.

COLON, DO NOT DO THIS TO ME.

[ lone1c ] says:
on September 13, 2008 7:39 PM

Dammit.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 13, 2008 7:40 PM

WTF? I leave for 5 minutes to look at CNN and this?

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 13, 2008 7:41 PM

Mary, I'm sorry to hear that you had such a rough day...

[ Cathy ] says:
on September 13, 2008 7:41 PM

Aw shit!

[ lone1c ] says:
on September 13, 2008 7:41 PM

This sucks.

[ Mac ] says:
on September 13, 2008 7:41 PM

I leave the room for a few moments and I come back to see the bases loaded. WTF?

SHIT.

[ Piney61 ] says:
on September 13, 2008 7:41 PM

You see, this is why I wanted to win the afternoon game because putting Colon up there is just white flagging it.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 13, 2008 7:42 PM

:::slumps, demoralized, in chair:::

[ Mac ] says:
on September 13, 2008 7:43 PM

(this is a little late...)
Mary - That sucks. I'm sorry you didn't have such a great day. I hope it gets better for you.

[ Mary ] says:
on September 13, 2008 7:44 PM

Ugh this needs to stop.....

[ Mac ] says:
on September 13, 2008 7:44 PM

*smashes head on desk*

[ sickofthis ] says:
on September 13, 2008 7:45 PM

The Sox do not want to win. While Toronto is throwing out their best we are throwing out a guy from the minors that is lucky to be in baseball and is only in baseball because of success from how many years ago?

This team has quit again and they could care less about winning the division.

It's a joke.

[ Cathy ] says:
on September 13, 2008 7:45 PM

That Jed error really messed him up.

The offense will need to step it up this inning.

[ lone1c ] says:
on September 13, 2008 7:46 PM

Finally. But dammit, this is not the way to start this game.

[ Mac ] says:
on September 13, 2008 7:48 PM

Dear offense,

PLEASE DON'T SUCK.
And score some runs, dammit!

Sincerely,
Mac

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 13, 2008 7:49 PM

I'm sort of glad I'm in "multitasking coverage" mode tonight...watching hurricane aftermath stuff on CNN, so I missed the rest of the 2nd inning carnage.

[ Mac ] says:
on September 13, 2008 7:49 PM

That should say "Red Sox offense."

[ Karen ] says:
on September 13, 2008 7:55 PM

Ok, I was on the phone, so I missed how Toronto got 5.

[ Mac ] says:
on September 13, 2008 7:59 PM

Nice DP!

[ lone1c ] says:
on September 13, 2008 8:00 PM

Jed begins to make amends with the DP. Hopefully we can start to turn this around (at least we have plenty of time).

Karen: out, single, single, error by Jed, walk, double, sac fly, single, K.

[ Adam ] says:
on September 13, 2008 8:00 PM

Shrek Colon needs to go on a diet

[ Mac ] says:
on September 13, 2008 8:04 PM

I don't mean to be rude or anything, but those fat jokes toward Colon are unnecessary.

/seriousness

[ h ] says:
on September 13, 2008 8:08 PM

I agree about the fat jokes being stupid but welcome to America. Free speech

1 hit. This team should be ashamed but they aren't.

[ lone1c ] says:
on September 13, 2008 8:10 PM

Nice to see the concern trolls starting to come out. . . .

[ Cathy ] says:
on September 13, 2008 8:11 PM

OMG MDC! That is hilarious!

[ lone1c ] says:
on September 13, 2008 8:13 PM

Cathy: Huh?

[ Mac ] says:
on September 13, 2008 8:13 PM

Cathy - I was reading and wasn't paying attention to MLB.tv . What about MDC?

[ Cathy ] says:
on September 13, 2008 8:14 PM

He was sitting in the dugout making a giant bubble gum ball with his chewed gum, and everybody was around him laughing at him.

[ Mac ] says:
on September 13, 2008 8:16 PM

Thanks, Cathy. That's hilarious!

[ Mary ] says:
on September 13, 2008 8:20 PM

AHHHH WHAT THE HELL.

[ Liza ] says:
on September 13, 2008 8:20 PM

BAD. BAD SNIDER.

[ lone1c ] says:
on September 13, 2008 8:20 PM

Dammit--this is absolutely ridiculous.

[ Mac ] says:
on September 13, 2008 8:21 PM

DAMNIT SNIDER!

[ Adam ] says:
on September 13, 2008 8:23 PM

Theres nothing wrong with making fun Colon -- he is a mix of Shrek and joba the hut

At least the red sox got 2 hits off of the immortal Jesse Litsch, thats something to be proud of!!

[ Cathy ] says:
on September 13, 2008 8:26 PM

Nice play, Colon!

[ Mac ] says:
on September 13, 2008 8:26 PM

Nice, Colon!

[ lone1c ] says:
on September 13, 2008 8:26 PM

That? Was strange.

Nice 1-2-3.

[ Mary ] says:
on September 13, 2008 8:27 PM

He must be magical or something....

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on September 13, 2008 8:27 PM

Fat jokes are the lowest common denominator of humor - meaning, they are not funny at all.

Also, there may be free speech in America - but this is a private blog, and you don't get unfettered "free speech" here. So that means I get to boot jerkwads.

[ Karen ] says:
on September 13, 2008 8:33 PM

Ugh, Tampa 4-1 now.

[ Cathy ] says:
on September 13, 2008 8:34 PM

PEDIE!!!!!!

[ lone1c ] says:
on September 13, 2008 8:34 PM

Good job, Pedey!

[ Mac ] says:
on September 13, 2008 8:34 PM

PEDIE!!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 13, 2008 8:40 PM

What is with our bats tonight? :::sigh:::

[ Mac ] says:
on September 13, 2008 8:42 PM

*sigh* I don't know, ecl. But I really hope they start a rally soon.

[ lone1c ] says:
on September 13, 2008 8:43 PM

Nice DP.

[ Mac ] says:
on September 13, 2008 8:43 PM

Nice DP!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 13, 2008 8:43 PM

Nice DP!!!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 13, 2008 8:44 PM

Ha -- great minds think alike, each with one more exclamation point. :::grins:::

[ lone1c ] says:
on September 13, 2008 8:45 PM

And by the way--Yanks have closed it to 4-3 in the bottom of the 4th.

[ Mac ] says:
on September 13, 2008 8:45 PM

ecl - haha. I guess so!

[ Mac ] says:
on September 13, 2008 8:46 PM

lone - Thanks for the score info.

[ lone1c ] says:
on September 13, 2008 8:47 PM

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 13, 2008 8:48 PM

[ Mary ] says:
on September 13, 2008 8:50 PM

COME ON BEAKER!

[ Mac ] says:
on September 13, 2008 8:50 PM

Let's go, New Guy! *clap clap clapclapclap*

[ Mary ] says:
on September 13, 2008 8:52 PM

Yay Bay!

[ Mac ] says:
on September 13, 2008 8:53 PM

New Guy!

[ lone1c ] says:
on September 13, 2008 8:55 PM

Good job, Jed.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 13, 2008 8:55 PM

For a moment there I thought that was out of here, but hey, I'll take a run!

[ Mac ] says:
on September 13, 2008 8:56 PM

Good work, LowRBI.

[ lone1c ] says:
on September 13, 2008 8:57 PM

ecl: I was hoping for a granny for Jed, too, but he did his job and got a run in.

[ Mac ] says:
on September 13, 2008 8:58 PM

Let's go, Mikey! *clap clap clapclapclap*

[ lone1c ] says:
on September 13, 2008 9:00 PM

Dangit, Mike.

[ Liza ] says:
on September 13, 2008 9:01 PM

Come on Cocooo!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 13, 2008 9:02 PM

:::begs and pleads:::

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 13, 2008 9:03 PM

Dammit...

[ Mac ] says:
on September 13, 2008 9:09 PM

Nice 1-2-3 inning, Javy!

[ Mac ] says:
on September 13, 2008 9:12 PM

*crickets*

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 13, 2008 9:12 PM

Was doing dishes for a few minutes.

[ lone1c ] says:
on September 13, 2008 9:12 PM

Nice double, Jacoby!

[ Cathy ] says:
on September 13, 2008 9:13 PM

Jacoby!!!!!!!!

He's having a pretty good day at the plate.

[ Mac ] says:
on September 13, 2008 9:13 PM

Jacoby!!

[ lone1c ] says:
on September 13, 2008 9:13 PM

I was getting dinner ready. . . .

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 13, 2008 9:19 PM

Okay, c'mon YOOOUUUUUKKKKK!

[ lone1c ] says:
on September 13, 2008 9:20 PM

Papi: Thank you for not striking out.

[ Cathy ] says:
on September 13, 2008 9:22 PM

Ppai totaled Scutaro!

[ Mac ] says:
on September 13, 2008 9:23 PM

Ouch.

As much as I want the Sox to win, I'm glad Scutaro's not seriously hurt.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 13, 2008 9:24 PM

Me too, Mac. Being run over by Papi = major ouch, so I'm glad he's okay.

[ Kim ] says:
on September 13, 2008 9:28 PM

that was a late slide by Scutaro... trying to get them back?

[ lone1c ] says:
on September 13, 2008 9:30 PM

Nice work by Masterson.

[ lone1c ] says:
on September 13, 2008 9:32 PM

Kim: I don't think any of the three slides have been done with the intent to injure. (Besides, they did it first, so to retaliate because of Ortiz would be dumb.)

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 13, 2008 9:33 PM

BAY!

[ Mary ] says:
on September 13, 2008 9:33 PM

What an epic Sweet Caroline that was....

and YAY BEAKER!

[ Karen ] says:
on September 13, 2008 9:33 PM

Pena just went head first over the tarp into the stands. Now that was funny.

[ lone1c ] says:
on September 13, 2008 9:33 PM

BEAKER!!!!

Now Jed--help your big brother out!

[ Kim ] says:
on September 13, 2008 9:33 PM

Good point. Just seemed like he slide a bit late...

[ Cathy ] says:
on September 13, 2008 9:34 PM

Great Sweet Caroline. There's nothing quite like Fenway.

BAY!!!

[ kim ] says:
on September 13, 2008 9:34 PM

OK men. Guy on 2nd and nobody out. Let's get him home.

[ Anita ] says:
on September 13, 2008 9:34 PM

Bay really gets it about Sweet Caroline, doesn't he!
Yee! Jed also!

[ kim ] says:
on September 13, 2008 9:34 PM

Yay!

[ Cathy ] says:
on September 13, 2008 9:34 PM

JED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

[ lone1c ] says:
on September 13, 2008 9:34 PM

LowRBI makes good!!!!!!

(Your error is forgiven!)

[ Mary ] says:
on September 13, 2008 9:34 PM

That's the Jed I've fallen in love with....

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 13, 2008 9:34 PM

JUMPING UP AND DOWN!

[ Karen ] says:
on September 13, 2008 9:35 PM

Yes! Varitek coming, good.
Pena's fall and miss catch caused the Yankees to tie.

[ lone1c ] says:
on September 13, 2008 9:39 PM

Come on, Jacoby!

[ Cathy ] says:
on September 13, 2008 9:39 PM

Coco, chill out a bit.

[ Cathy ] says:
on September 13, 2008 9:44 PM

JACOBY!!!!!!!!!!!

[ lone1c ] says:
on September 13, 2008 9:44 PM

JACOBY BEING JACOBY!!!!!

[ Karen ] says:
on September 13, 2008 9:45 PM

Yes!!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 13, 2008 9:45 PM

(watching the replay)

Oh.That.Was.Epic!

And the grin on Jacoby's face...priceless.

[ Karen ] says:
on September 13, 2008 9:45 PM

NYY just pulled ahead also.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 13, 2008 9:46 PM

And NY is up 5-4, bot 7.

[ Anita ] says:
on September 13, 2008 9:46 PM

Jed and Jacoby have a pact!
I just punched on the recorder for the prettiest single I ever saw!

[ lone1c ] says:
on September 13, 2008 9:48 PM

Anita: At this point, they might have to open Ellsbury-Lowrie Run Manufacturing, Inc. . . .

[ lone1c ] says:
on September 13, 2008 9:49 PM

. . . a wholly-owned subsidiary of Red Sox Enterprises.

[ Anita ] says:
on September 13, 2008 9:50 PM

lone1c, I'd buy it!

[ Cathy ] says:
on September 13, 2008 9:51 PM

Pedie!

[ lone1c ] says:

Sorry folks been busy all day and doing the UConn game tonight.

[ Mary ] says:
on September 13, 2008 9:52 PM

Awwww 200 hits!!

I almost got a wee bit choked up when I heard that.

I love Pedey so much :)

[ Cathy ] says:
on September 13, 2008 9:53 PM

Dustin Luis Pedroia, I am so going to have your babies!

200 hits! That's awesome!

[ Cathy ] says:
on September 13, 2008 9:54 PM

Papi!!!!

[ Mary ] says:
on September 13, 2008 9:54 PM

LARGE FATHER!

[ Ian ] says:
on September 13, 2008 9:54 PM

[ lone1c ] says:
on September 13, 2008 9:55 PM

[ Anita ] says:
on September 13, 2008 9:55 PM

Papi playing wall ball!

[ Mary ] says:
on September 13, 2008 9:55 PM

You can count me in that line, too.

Hahaha.

[ Karen ] says:
on September 13, 2008 9:55 PM

Yes!!!!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 13, 2008 9:57 PM

Ah, I was hoping for a Keystone Kops moment by the Jays, but I'll take what we got.

[ Ian ] says:
on September 13, 2008 9:57 PM

ahh heck with it. count me in too.

[ Cathy ] says:
on September 13, 2008 9:58 PM

That's the spirit, Ian!

[ Karen ] says:
on September 13, 2008 10:00 PM

Paps, so happy.

[ lone1c ] says:
on September 13, 2008 10:00 PM

So is there anybody on the thread tonight who doesn't want to be in on that line?

[ Ian ] says:
on September 13, 2008 10:00 PM

I'm kidding by the way.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 13, 2008 10:01 PM

I'm turning 50 in a minute, so I'm not having any baby Pedeys, but I applaud those of you who are.

[ lone1c ] says:
on September 13, 2008 10:01 PM

Well, according to my clock, it's 12.01 EDT, so Happy Fiftieth, ecl!

[ lone1c ] says:
on September 13, 2008 10:02 PM

Er no, it's 10.01. EPIC MATH FAIL.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 13, 2008 10:02 PM

Uh, I didn't mean that literally, lone. It's a week from Tuesday. But thanks anyway!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 13, 2008 10:02 PM

Yes, that too, lone. I thought you were joking about the time. Hehe...

[ Jennie ] says:
on September 13, 2008 10:03 PM

I'm 40 as of today!

[ anita ] says:
on September 13, 2008 10:03 PM

ecl -
Happy Birthday! Let's just knit something for all those babies!
Now I'm speaking very sternly to Jonathan.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 13, 2008 10:04 PM

Happy birthday, Jennie!

[ Jennie ] says:
on September 13, 2008 10:04 PM

Thank you! Happy birthday to you next week! :)

[ lone1c ] says:
on September 13, 2008 10:04 PM

Yeah, that was bad on my part--apparently I can do higher math just fine, but I can't add. . .

But we'll count you in in spirit!

[ Cathy ] says:
on September 13, 2008 10:04 PM

Happy birthday, Jennie!

2 down.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 13, 2008 10:05 PM

I'll be the honorary granny to all the hypothetical baby Pedeys.

One more, Paps...

[ lone1c ] says:
on September 13, 2008 10:05 PM

Happy birthday, Jennie--and hope Paps and Lester can give you a few nice presents!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 13, 2008 10:05 PM

And Jennie, thank you for the birthday wishes.

[ Anita ] says:
on September 13, 2008 10:07 PM

Thanks, guys! Thanks center field. Much fun!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 13, 2008 10:07 PM

Jumps up and down deliriously!

[ lone1c ] says:
on September 13, 2008 10:07 PM

Take that, Toronto!

(I told myself back in the 5th, "we're going to win this, 7-5", and we did!)

[ Ian ] says:
on September 13, 2008 10:07 PM

happy bday jennie.

great comeback win for the fellas tonight.

TBS tomorrow for the non-tv viewers

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 13, 2008 10:07 PM

Now let's just hope NYY can hold on and beat the Rays!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 13, 2008 10:08 PM

Ian, is it blacked out of mlb.tv tomorrow?

[ lone1c ] says:
on September 13, 2008 10:10 PM

6-4, top of the 9th.

[ Liza ] says:
on September 13, 2008 10:10 PM

Happy birthday Jennie--and Daisuke as well.

[ Karen ] says:
on September 13, 2008 10:11 PM

Good win. Had to go full screen for Paps. Yankees 6-4 in the 9th.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 13, 2008 10:11 PM

I saw that, lone. And Mo just came in to pitch. Looking good...

Aww, Dice's birthday too. So many September babies.

[ lone1c ] says:
on September 13, 2008 10:19 PM

The MFYs get it done! So today is sort of an epic wash as far as the standings go!

[ Ian ] says:
on September 13, 2008 10:33 PM

I don't think it's blacked out
