I was so relieved to hear from my family this morning. There was some damage- but not severe. More importantly, everyone (including animals) are all OK.
Hey all!
I was supposed to be in Boston today... not at the game, just in Boston. But a fantastic stomache ache has kept me home. Oh well, happy double header day!
Just peeking back in -- love those red jerseys, yes.
The first family report has come in. So far everyone is fine, although one cousin has not yet been heard from. He's sheltering his 94-year-old mother in an apartment complex full of trees, which is a little bit worrisome. My favorite cousin, who lives in downtown Houston in a 3rd floor apartment, spent the night in a closet because the building was shaking, and right now I wish I could give him a great big hug.
Pffft. Lost my internet connection and ended up rebooting the computer. So now I'm back, but haven't yet logged back into the mlb site.
Folks, thanks much about the Houston cousins. The one who spent the night in the closet is a really tough little dude and I've only ever heard him use the word "scared" once in all the time I've known him, so it must have been pretty bad, which hurts my heart. He's probably pretty preoccupied right now, but I may try to call him later just to satisfy myself that he's not totally traumatized.
ecl: I hope we can keep him, too--and I think the Sox really wouldn't want to get rid of a doubles-hitting, multi-position-playing, inexpensive infielder. (I can totally see why Minnesota wanted him as part of the Santana deal.)
I'm falling asleep now, I'm supposed to go to church before the next game, if I can stay awake. I have been sleeping 2hrs at a time all week, due to not feeling well.
Angie: It's hard to root for the Yankees, but it's who we have to root for right now. Once they move on to another team, we can root for their destruction again.
That's the one thing I want to see in my life: Dustin Pedroia behind the plate. I don't care if it's an exhibition game or an ST game or it's a regular season game. I wanna see Pedie catching, dammit!
And agreed. Hansack has done a very nice job so far.
I hope the sox dont get shutout by that pile of garbage that is known as Jesse Litsch. Then again, you can only hope and pray that fat Colon gives you a decent start
Hey everyone. Yay for Colon. AND YAY FOR LITSCH AND DROOLABLE CROSS-SEAMERS.
Kottaras was great earlier. What a first major-league plate appearance, eh? (Canada jokes abound, what with the Jays playing against a team with Bay and Kottaras...)
Karen, I've only had one of those in my life and hope to never, EVER have another one. Gaaahhh. I hope you've gotten some antibiotics for that, and feel better soon!
That was great! My post immediately afterwards didn't go through (stupid slow connection!), so let me just say...WOOHOO!
And Karen, your healing methods all sound very helpful, although you may want to check for a sliding scale clinic or health department in your area that serves the uninsured or unemployed.
Liza - I had to interview for a tech position for the Shakespeare play we're doing.
And... I didn't get anything. Not even set crew. Not even spotlight.
And this morning I was supposed to go with all my friends into Boston for a concert, but I felt sick so I stayed home.
But now I feel perfectly fine, so I should have gone.
(Sorry it took a while to respond hahaha)
The Sox do not want to win. While Toronto is throwing out their best we are throwing out a guy from the minors that is lucky to be in baseball and is only in baseball because of success from how many years ago?
This team has quit again and they could care less about winning the division.
I'm sort of glad I'm in "multitasking coverage" mode tonight...watching hurricane aftermath stuff on CNN, so I missed the rest of the 2nd inning carnage.
Fat jokes are the lowest common denominator of humor - meaning, they are not funny at all.
Also, there may be free speech in America - but this is a private blog, and you don't get unfettered "free speech" here. So that means I get to boot jerkwads.
Kim: I don't think any of the three slides have been done with the intent to injure. (Besides, they did it first, so to retaliate because of Ortiz would be dumb.)
