I hope Wake is ON tonight. Last night was such a frustrating game. Clutch offense anyone?
Someone threw a rock at my windshield on the way home (I'm assuming since there wasn't a truck or anything near me). So, lucky me, gets to replace yet ANOTHER window on my jeep. /whine
Jules, that sucks. Was it a Tampa fan? I used to say Yankee fan, but since my last night in Tampa when I have a nasty bruise from one, now I think Tampa.
Karen, it does suck! I'm guessing at someone throwing it, but it had to come from somewhere and it was at least one inch in diameter. Weird. I'm annoyed because I just replaced a side window because some freak broke into my jeep. That's a whole lot of shoes I could have gotten! grrrrrrr...
I am looking forward to seeing Pesky getting his number retired. He's adorable! I'm a newer Sox fan (as of 2003), but I do love the history and tradition of the Sox.
Well, $170 would've gotten me a real nice pair of boots, but nooooooo...I get to buy a new windshield. That's all the whining I'll do. Promise ;-)
Short version please -- I just spent TWO HOURS on a damn gas line. Great way to celebrate my birthday, NOT. Haven't had dinner, haven't gotten on mlb.tv.
Happy birthday, Ecl! (It's a big one... fun fun way to spend a birthday.)
Youk went deep, Joco rules the world, Lee's ERA exploded a bit... oh and the first base ump majorly screwed up a call and Cash got an undeserved error. And Stoned Fishy still sucks.
MDC loaded the bases and Okajima's in for him now.
There is almost no gas supply here, Kim. Just a handful of stations at any one time. It totally sucks. And it got pretty scary -- lots of bad behavior, police called to the scene, etc.
ecl, that just sucks. It's so weird because up here prices are down and not a shortage anywhere. I can't believe they need to get police involved. People suck.
Thank y'all about my birthday. I wish I didn't miss most of the game, but didn't feel like getting gas could wait until tomorrow. Fortunately, I'll be home and rarin' to go tomorrow evening.
Kim, there have been multiple police involvements at gas stations since this shortage started in earnest. The rudeness I witnessed tonight was just astonishing.
Ecl, Happy Birthday. I didn't realize the gas shortage was going north. We don't have a problem in town, cause most people don't want to pay 4.15 anyways, so they go to surrounding towns, so they have the problem. My mom's in Ohio, she said they have no problem, she had no clue.
Thank you, everybody! I grabbed some fast food because I'm too exhausted and hungry to cook. The folks on my floor at work threw a big Italian lunch for me and another September birthday person. Enough food for an army, really wonderful.
Thanks Jenny, and yes, a win would be nice on my birthday. Then they can do it again tomorrow and the rest of the week when I have time to watch the games.
Nope, they were just commenting on getting rid of Nomar and then doing well and then getting rid of Manny and doing well and then Jim Rice asked "Why Manny? Why aren't you happy with $160m?"
I need to be sensible and get to bed, folks. Gotta hit the ground running tomorrow. I *do* have a short day at work thanks to a dentist appointment, so will be able to relax a bit at the end of the day. Ta ta for now, will read any lingering postgameage tomorrow, and I am *SO* looking forward to the videos (thanks much, Texy!).
Beckett seemed quite pleased with his quip about "First team to win eleven!" Lowell said Jonny's no-hitter was his favorite moment of the season. Jon came wandering in and dumped more beer on Beckett and Lowell, who were standing there with their arms around each other. They did a lot of beaming at each other. GOOD TIMES.
