Instead, you should root for a 37-inning game that causes them to use so many pitchers that they're both wrecked for the rest of the series (and the month). . . .
Florida is not a regular season baseball place for a home team at least. In Orlando, everyone is like me - a transplant from up north that likes teams outside FL and if they're from around here, then they prefer NCAA football and Nascar
Horrible baserunning by our old pal Hinske that cost the Rays a run. 3B coach held up the runner at third, and then Hinske proceeded to run to third (instead of stopping at 2B).
My daughter was in love with snakes and worked hard to save up for one when she was five years old (by working hard, I mean setting the table, etc.).
After we had Snakey for a couple months, she graduate to eating baby mice. We were told that snakes like to eat around dusk, so I put the dinner on my daughter's dresser (in a cardboard box) and put my daughter in the bathtub.
I got her out of tub in time to see a black fuzzy thing running down the hall! The mouse ate its way out of the box! I had a wet, naked girl screaming while I tried to capture the mouse. Hysterical!
It's still light here. Granted, it won't be for much longer. But because we're farther south and a LOT farther west, sunset is much later here. On the other hand, you guys have ridiculously early sunrises up there, at least in the spring. I remember that from my last trip to New York. I was really puzzled to see the sun UP in the sky at 5:30 in the morning! Yeah, I remember those 4-something sunsets in upstate NY, though!
(I don't make a big deal out of it, which is a good thing considering I live in the frakkin' middle of nowhere and have a holiday-weekend birthday, so it usually gets lost in the midst of everything else going on, like travel plans and back-to-school silliness.)
Maaan, this sucks. I'm having Internet connection problems (checked the connection speed and it's about half what it should be) and I can't even get Gameday Audio to work right now...
Kim, my sister and her husband share a birthday too!
Y'all, if I disappear for awhile it's because I'm about to call my ISP and give them what for. I'm supposed to be on a 5 Mb connection (and they've told me in the past that that means I should be getting at least 4 Mb speed). I've run a speed test about 10 times now and it's come up around 2 Mb each time. No wonder I'm having such a problem. The server has been slow for four days now (and I've run a zillion diagnostics on this computer and it's checked out clear), but this is ridiculous.
that sucks ECL. I'm waiting for soxanddawgs.com and ianbethune.com domain names to propagate to the new nameserver so I can put SOX & Dawgs back to active status.
Ian, I didn't know you were having a website issue until you mentioned it at the top of this thread, then I went over and read for myself. Hope you're back in action soon!
my hosting contract was set to expire and I found a good deal at a very reliable hosting company that my dad's company uses. my old host is telling me the cpu exceeded errors are my fault but in actuality it was there database server since the database had been fixed. it's a pain in the ass. if i didn't have advertising i could have gone to wordpress.com. i wanted to move to movable type which is what the great Texy uses here but it's a pain in the ass to transfer a wordpress blog to movable type.
however i get a free domain name to use for the softball site i do so i'm happy. i've been lost all day without doing any bloggin.
I saw it late last night and I wanted to post it or a link to it but i've been backing up the sox and dawgs site plus two other sites for the big move today. now it's just a matter of waiting for the domain names to propagate.
I don't have volume but did they take Lester out because of the lead.
jessi: The only explanation is that there's a magic necklace in the Boston dugout--Beckett must have had it last year, then gave it to Lester. And now Matsuzaka must have done a switcheroo. . . .
Hmm Joba appears to be warming up for the Yanks. I am very split on this. On one hand, I want him to go out and give up 5 runs in an inning (for I do hate him dearly). On the other hand, I want Tampa to lose. What to think...
How about he just walks the bases loaded, takes a ball off the shin that breaks his leg and scores a run, and then somebody else comes in a gets out of it?
Okay, what did I miss? I haven't tried to get back on mlb.com yet. Turns out it's NOT my speed. The guy thinks I may need to get a software tuneup. And he did mention the evils of Vista.
Bethie, did they revise the forecast for Hannah? I thought she was heading further east than us.
Watching Hanna track, now the cone is further west into the east coast of Florida. When you watch hurricane news you will hear my town, vero beach, or they say treasure coast. And Ike most likely will hit Wednesday, my bday. Oh great that's when Jeanne hit in 2004.
Bethie, has the water receded yet? We'll gladly take it up here!
lone, I remember Gloria! I was living in upstate NY and we were on the western side of the circulation. I have a vivid memory of standing on a street corner and watching the clouds go very fast in the "wrong direction."
Fortunately, there are enough of us here who keep in touch regularly that we can talk baseball all winter as well, but it's more fun to share the games as they happen, of course.
For me it's pretty much baseball or nothing, Cathy. I don't like football. I have no desire to watch hockey. I only like basketball during March Madness...so I'm outta luck, pretty much.
Faith, you guys better be around to talk baseball with me, or I'm gonna go nuts!
WOO HOOO SOX WIN!!!
Btw, how bad have I got it?? I'm giving away concert tickets to see ZZ top on Friday so that I don't miss the Beckett/Milwood match up. I've already laughed at myself.
Bethie, I was just thinking the same thing recently. I'll probably try to watch hockey once the season's over, but I know I won't love the sport as much as I love baseball.

So the MFY are playing the Rays tonight, leading to a bizarro situation wherein I'm rooting for the Skanks.
It feels weird.
