I am unfortunately having time management issues today so am just now headed to the laundromat. I hope to make it back for the late innings. Enjoy the game, y'all, and GO SOX!
I'm celebrating that both my college teams won... and crossing fingers for the Cowboys in an hour. Sacrilege to say in this town- but I don't care about Tom Brady.
To be honest, I don't care about any sports other than equestrian type sports and baseball, but I've been debating whether I should try and get into hockey. I've decided I need a winter sport to follow.
Even though Tito's statement was that they wanted to ease Mikey into things, I'm guessing that giving Sean some playing time was a consideration too. But I'm all for being conservative with our valuable boys.
Baseball and college basketball are the only sports for me. I'm glad the baseball season is mostly in the summer though because it's really distracting from school.
fc: I think Tito's been doing a pretty good job of giving his guys time off when they need it--even when (like Pedey) they don't want to take the day off.
I did 3ft hunters and eq. Would've loved to try dessage though. I jumped on a friend's old dressage horse once and had a blast. On my guy though, I only did simple moves like leg yields, turn on haunches, half passes, etc.
I jumped for just a little while, around 2'9'' mostly, but up to 3 ft. I've only been riding for 4 years, so I'm still at training level thus far, but I'm seriously loving it. And I love trot lengthenings. SO. FUN.
But back to baseball--is Pedie really only 1 for 7 in the series? Or did I mishear Remy?
Images are always OK- I have it coded to auto-resize anything too big. It's long URLs that break the code.
The gossip stuff I don't do. I've been disappointed at a few blogs that have posted completely unsubstantiated rumors - even the Inside Track witches don't do that.
Oh, that's what that was about. Okay. I'd heard that Tek was getting divorced (?) while I was in NH and virtually off the face of the earth, but... okay, that makes sense. Thanks.
Finally dragged myself out of bed. I have feeling crappy from dealing with mold in my mom's man's condo.
Turned on the tv in time to see Toronto beat Tampa 1-0. So good.
Decided to wait out the wash cycle at home so I could catch some of the game. Looks good so far! And I'm delighted to hear that the Rays won. :::rubs hands together gleefully:::
Aw that sucks for Chris Young - so close. I was watching some Mariner pitcher no-hit the Yanks the other night until Wilson Betimet (sp?) hit a double in the 8th w/ two outs.
Thanks, fc -- my writing style is pretty much instinctive because I no longer remember "the rules," but I must have learned these things well at some point in the distant past.
lone, even though I write instinctively, you'd be amazed at how long I labor over what I write. I edit and re-edit until it says exactly what I'm thinking, even if it's two or three sentences. That's why a lot of my posts here are delayed.
lone/ecl: It helps to know the rules so they become second nature. I'm a grammar geek and I love the rules, but break them regularly, intentionally, for effect.
Hey all, I'm glad I could hang while the laundry was washing, but now it's dryer time so I must go. Enjoy the rest of the game, in case I don't get back by the end.
Liza - I was so rooting for the no-hitter. But the fact that the Yanks got two-hit by Seattle (!!) pitchers, one making his first start, was good enough for me.
fc, maybe that's why it's second nature to me. It was pretty well drilled into me from an early age. Also, I've always had a facility with language. Learned to read very early, wrote a lot as a kid, and did well with foreign languages. Language-related classes were my strongest suit and my favorite thing besides music classes.
The only downside to 3 games, is $10/game for parking. And in order to get parking, you have to arrive 3hrs before the game, but they don't let you in until 1hr 30 min before the game. Hopefully not that hot this time. I couldn't afford a hotel nearby, so it's about 15 minutes away. I do like the area, so hanging out during the day will be good.
ecl: I had the mechanics of good writing drilled into me my junior year in high school, by an engineer-turned-English teacher who cheerfully pointed out every grammatical and usage mistake. Personally, I always appreciate a well-written essay; bad writing drives me insane, because I find myself spending far too long trying to figure out what the author is really trying to say. (Don't get me started on the journal articles I have to review from China.)
fc: That was one skill I was never taught, and I regret it to this day. (Granted, some of the sentences I write now would look like a baobab if I attempted to diagram them!)
And this just in: Jacoby's voiceover work for Volvo? Not so hot. Not nearly as bad as Pleats-in-Cleats, but he certainly shouldn't quit his day job.
I too wish I had internet back then. Although I was happy to have a computer at home to type up papers on. Dad being a sports writer, made our life easier, technology wise.
So I just opened up my Spanish book since I'm required to use 15 vocab words in my essay. And none of the hundred spanish words in the vocab list are translated. Not cool.
Yea the internet is helpful, but typing in a hundred spanish words in a translator is not very fun. And I think I missed an inning somwhere while typing.

If the Sox could snag ANY of their catchers - Salty, Laird or Teagarden - I'd be a happy girl.
