Sorry again for the radio delay/silence!

Yay! Hope you read my parting comment over yonder. If not: Glad to see you, glad to see Coco, hope you had a good sleep, and I have a slight migraine but hope to make it through the game.

[ Karen ] says:
on September 28, 2008 7:44 PM

I am finishing up my project, that I started last month, and have been too sick to finish, going through my clothes. So happy to say almost done. Also trying to get mlb.tv up.

[ Bethie ] says:
on September 28, 2008 7:45 PM

Did sleep well. But slept through 2 out of 3 of my sporting events for the day. Didn't miss much in either.

Hope I can stay awake for this one. Can't believe that if the baseball gods have it in the cards for me I will be able to watch the sox in Boston next week. Eeeeeep!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 28, 2008 7:47 PM

Coco just put a big smile on my face.

That would be awesome if you could actually be in Boston for a playoff game, Bethie.

[ Liza ] says:
on September 28, 2008 7:48 PM

Run! Yay!

Hi Liza!

[ Liza ] says:
on September 28, 2008 7:51 PM

Hey everyone!

[ Kim ] says:
on September 28, 2008 7:53 PM

Hey ladies & gentlemen. After much pulling my hair out I finally got my clients website working. I hate those stupid easy problems that take hours to figure out.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 28, 2008 7:56 PM

Kim, that doesn't sound like much fun!

[ Karen ] says:
on September 28, 2008 7:56 PM

I don't like doubleheaders, I have to use gameday for the second one. Mlb Mosaic doesn't have the option for both. I feel more productive, finished a project I have been putting off since I got laid off, and only took a little over an hr to do. Feels good giving away a trunk full of clothes to the womens homeless shelter.

[ Lindsay ] says:
on September 28, 2008 7:57 PM

Heyy everyone. Is Jacoby playing? Or is it Carter, Coco, Van Every in the OF?

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 28, 2008 7:57 PM

Bailey, Coco and Van Every.

[ Lindsay ] says:
on September 28, 2008 7:57 PM

Nice play. But yes Jed!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 28, 2008 7:58 PM

Karen, you get blocked from every game 2? That stinks!

[ Lindsay ] says:
on September 28, 2008 7:59 PM

Thanks ecl. And then whos playing first? Casey? Kotsay?

And the Gil, Cora, Jed. Correct?

I guess I could always be patient and just watch the game and find out...but I guess I'm not patient...lol

[ starr4 ] says:
on September 28, 2008 7:59 PM

Game 162, everyone. Another regular season of baseball is drawing to a close. Luckily, we have the playoffs to look forward to again this year.

[ Lindsay ] says:
on September 28, 2008 8:00 PM

Anyone know why Becketts not pitching? Yesterday was supposed to be his scheduled start...

Just resting him for Wed.?

hmm

[ Karen ] says:
on September 28, 2008 8:00 PM

I don't get blocked I just can't use my mosaic program I prefer over the mlb media player.

[ Liza ] says:
on September 28, 2008 8:01 PM

Casey's at first. Carter's DHing. It's like Pawtucket! (-happy-)

It just doesn't feel like it's ending. This year went by way faster than it should have, even faster than last year. But like Starr said, hopefully we'll have another month or so left of baseball to play.

[ amanda ] says:
on September 28, 2008 8:01 PM

Lowrie steals!

[ Jessi ] says:
on September 28, 2008 8:01 PM

Lowrie's first SB!

[ Lindsay ] says:
on September 28, 2008 8:02 PM

I can't believe how fast the season went by! It seems like just yesterday that I was sitting in the computer lab doing a project for Environmental science blocking out the people that were searching for the score of the Sox/A's game in Japan because I was recording the game at home...

ahh memories ::sigh::

[ Bethie ] says:
on September 28, 2008 8:02 PM

Lindsay, I'm guessing they are just resting him since he will probably be pitching on Wednesday.

And I can't believe it's the end of the season already. Dammit. I can still remember Japan like it was yesterday. :(

[ Lindsay ] says:
on September 28, 2008 8:03 PM

I always get Bailey and Carter mixed up for some reason! Ugh...

I went to get Chinese food and I was telling my dad to drive faster because I was missing the Paw Sox vs. Yankees game. LOL, I knew that the majority of the lineup would be call ups.

[ Karen ] says:
on September 28, 2008 8:03 PM

I am sad that the season is over. Also sad that there was no Beckett this weekend. I was watching archived Beckett last night.

[ Jessi ] says:
on September 28, 2008 8:04 PM

Yea this was definitely a great season. Lester's no-hitter was by far the highlight. Other great moments (for me): Sox opening in Japan, Lester CG shutout at Yankee Stadium, and the debuts of Lowrie and Masterson.

I can't believe it will be over tonight ... oh wait - we're in the playoffs!

[ Lindsay ] says:
on September 28, 2008 8:04 PM

This may sound kind of strange, but I'm happy that Mussina got his 20th win today. After 18 seasons he deserves it!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 28, 2008 8:05 PM

It did all go by really fast. I remember getting up 1-1/2 hours early and sitting in bed with my coffee in a total daze watching those games in Japan.

Didn't realize that was Jed's first SB ever. Congrats!

Kim, can't you just access the 400K or 800K streams if the mosaic doesn't work?

[ Jessi ] says:
on September 28, 2008 8:06 PM

Me too Lindsay - though I do wish it wasn't against our boys. Hmm I think it's karma for his almost no-hitter at Fenway. He was one strike away when it was broken up.

[ Lindsay ] says:
on September 28, 2008 8:07 PM

Ahh I have soo many memories! Most of them are rediculous memories of Jacoby (for example the other day when they showed the dugout and he put his hands down his pants because he ward adjusting his jersey) but on a baseball note, his 2 homer game (i was there! yay!) Lester's no-no. Lester's Yankee shutout. Definately also the MLB debut of Masterson and Jed. This may sound bad...but also the injury of Lugo since it allowed us to see more of Jed and I'm sure that the majority of us fell in love with him!

[ Lindsay ] says:
on September 28, 2008 8:08 PM

**sorry for the typos in my little memory paragraph.

[ Liza ] says:
on September 28, 2008 8:08 PM

I camped out in the TV room for Japan. I wasn't missing a moment of pre-game, considering I had to leave for school an hour into the game.

Come on, Wakey.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 28, 2008 8:09 PM

I still feel pretty badly for Lugo, Lindsay. Jed's doing great and I really like him a lot...and I know Lugo sucked, but he was trying so hard and he was starting to step it up just before he got hurt.

[ amanda ] says:
on September 28, 2008 8:10 PM

I know--I remember non-stop spring training on TV excitement--going "HEY--there's a Sea Dog!", then seeing them all back in Hadlock in games where they had to clean snow off the field & then lots of them getting called up. I don't have a winter sport to switch to. After fall league ends, it's counting down 'til April 9th and the first Dogs game.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 28, 2008 8:10 PM

Liza, I was actually able to get pretty much the whole game in, seeing as how I start work at 9:30. It was great, even though I was dog tired.

[ starr4 ] says:
on September 28, 2008 8:10 PM

I, too, remember getting up early, coffee mug in hand, watching the Japan games. Was that really six months ago? It IS hard to believe!

Beckett will stand and deliver on Weds night against the Angels. That's my expectation, at any rate.

[ joyosity ] says:
on September 28, 2008 8:11 PM

God's been really good to me this year. I got to go to the home opener and also today's Game 1, which was supposed to be the last game of the season. Made it onto the Monster twice for Yankees games. Was there for Lester's no-no. In total, got to see 10 wins and 4 losses at Fenway plus one Red Sox win at Comerica Park. And I'll be going to Game 3 of the ALDS; my first play-off game!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 28, 2008 8:12 PM

I'm the same way, Amanda -- no winter sport. I do usually pay some attention to March Madness, but by then spring training is in full swing, so my one nod to basketball ends up getting lost in the shuffle.

[ Lindsay ] says:
on September 28, 2008 8:13 PM

Wow Joy! How do you get to go to so many games?!

[ Liza ] says:
on September 28, 2008 8:13 PM

Another big memory for me was the April 30 walkoff against the Blue Jays--the second of the two games they had consecutive walkoffs--because I was there. I'd never had seats not in the bleachers/grandstand and I had great seats in the infield that time. It was so great. Daisuke threw really well and then Tek hit a single up the middle to score Manny in the bottom of the ninth with two outs. It was amazing.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 28, 2008 8:13 PM

HA! Pornstache looked really ticked off there.

[ joyosity ] says:
on September 28, 2008 8:14 PM

Oh yeah, and I had jury duty the first day they played in Japan and the guard let us watch the game while we were in the waiting room. Otherwise I would've had to be at work and wouldn't have gotten to watch the game. =)

[ Bethie ] says:
on September 28, 2008 8:14 PM

Having been a baseball fan before joining red sox nation, I have to say this has been my most exciting year as a baseball fan. Even though we won it all last year, this season has just been amazing. So many wonderful memories and so many new and wonderful friends to share them with.

Doesn't get much better than that, ladies and gents.

And of course Beckett will kick ass on Wednesday. It's the post-season. He will definitely be cooking with gas.

[ Ian ] says:
on September 28, 2008 8:15 PM

hola peoples. what a shitty day this has been

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 28, 2008 8:15 PM

Bethie, as you know, I can definitely relate. This season, my first as a Red Sox fan (aside from last year's playoffs), has been awesome in so many ways.

[ Karen ] says:
on September 28, 2008 8:16 PM

I am definitely one of the born into red sox nation people. My dad was a sports writer in Worcester, Ma and used to travel with the sox, so I went to a lot of sox games growing up. Miss that, along with my dad. So I have been a Sox fan since birth. I normally watch Pats, but not too exciting without Brady this year.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 28, 2008 8:17 PM

Ian, I hope this game makes it better for you.

[ Lindsay ] says:
on September 28, 2008 8:18 PM

Aww, I want to give Pedey a hug! He just looked so cute and cuddly leaning on the fence spitting and eating his sunflower seeds!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 28, 2008 8:19 PM

To continue what I was saying a couple of minutes ago, one terrific thing about this year has been getting to know the team and all its personalities and the attributes of each player. During last year's playoffs I was just beginning to get acquainted with them, most of them from scratch, and this year they have NOT disappointed!

[ Liza ] says:
on September 28, 2008 8:19 PM

I've been to more games this year than I ever have: two games at Fenway (including the April 30 one), a Pawtucket game, a Lowell game, and then three amazing games at Yankee Stadium--the last three Sox games there, ever.

Anyone going to this tomorrow?

And sorry you had a bad day, Ian. What's up?

[ Kim ] says:
on September 28, 2008 8:20 PM

I'm a home grown Sox fan. And ya know what.... It pisses me off that pink Sox hats are considered the fair weather fan / bandwagon fan hats. I've had my pink hat for 10 years.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 28, 2008 8:21 PM

Providing all the cards fall correctly (knocks on wood), I'm planning on seeing the Sox in Atlanta next season...my very first live MLB games EVER.

[ starr4 ] says:
on September 28, 2008 8:22 PM

I went to a Red Sox appreciation night this evening and won a t-shirt cause I knew Shilling was born in Alaska. Thanks Centerfield (Texy, Ian, and the loyal posters) for empowering me with baseball facts and trivia!

[ Bethie ] says:

Providing all the cards fall correctly (knocks on wood), I'm planning on seeing the Sox in Atlanta next season

Me too!!!!! WHEEEEEEEEE!!!! :D

[ Karen ] says:

Ecl, I'm hoping to go see Sox in Atlanta next season also. I have family outside of Atlanta.

[ amanda ] says:
on September 28, 2008 8:22 PM

I only made it to one Fenway game this year (the 14-2 trouncing of the Orioles) and about 20 Sea Dogs games. I hope to do more of both, as well as do a Spinners & a Paw Sox game next summer.

[ ecl1958 ] says:

:::high fives Bethie:::

Yay, Karen -- we can all represent RSN South!

[ Ian ] says:
on September 28, 2008 8:24 PM

something needs to make this a better day.

My friend called me up and asked me if i could help them out by bringing their daughter to a birthday party since her husband had a football meeting to go to and her step-son was at the Jets game with her car.

So I said sure I'll come up and help out. I stop near there house to vacuum my car since it's been a while since someone rode in my car and i had vacuumed it.

I swear my car was off for no longer than 4 minutes when I tried to restart it and my battery was dead. After about an hour of waiting for AAA, they couldn't get it jumped right away. So we let it charge up for a bit and finally got the damn thing started. So I dropped them at off at their birthday party they were going to and had to go buy a new battery. After about an hour of trying to install it, the guy finally got it installed. Only cost me 83 bucks that I don't have.

what a day.

[ Liza ] says:
on September 28, 2008 8:24 PM

I definitely want to go to more minor league games next year--PawSox, Spinners, and I really, really want to go to Portland.

[ Mac ] says:
on September 28, 2008 8:24 PM

I was at the Sox/A's game in Oakland earlier this year where Duchscherer was throwing a no-hitter for 6.1 innings. I remember Papi breaking up the no-no and all the Sox fans in the crowd going crazy. First season as a Sox fan and the only game I went to see, the Sox nearly get no-hit, just days after Lester threw his. (Now that I look back on it, though, I wish Duke had gotten the no-hitter.) Other than that, I'd say this was a pretty good season.

by the way, hi all.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 28, 2008 8:25 PM

Pffft -- I was out of the room for one flyout to Coco and running my fingers for the other.

:::that's okay, there'll be more:::

[ Ian ] says:
on September 28, 2008 8:25 PM

it's their not there ya dumbfuck. :D

[ jules ] says:
on September 28, 2008 8:26 PM

Hi All!

*Finally* sitting down for the day. I spent the day on the ladder working on plastering the walls. Had the game on the Tvs. ugh. What was up with Paps?

I can't believe it's the last game of the regular season! It seems like yesterday I was watching spring training. I'm making an all-American baseball dinner tonight: grilled polish sausage dogs, fries, and apple crisp.

[ Jessi ] says:
on September 28, 2008 8:26 PM

I've never been to Fenway, but I went to my first MLB game this year - Sox @ Yankee Stadium. It was Masterson vs. Musina. JMast was great, only giving up 2 runs in 6 innings. Unfortunately, Moose was better. Final score 2-1 Yanks.

[ Ian ] says:
on September 28, 2008 8:26 PM

YOu have to get Spinners tickets when they put them on sale in the beginning of their season because they sell out every game ahead of time.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 28, 2008 8:27 PM

Awww, car problems suck, Ian. And they're always way too expensive.

[ Liza ] says:
on September 28, 2008 8:28 PM

That sounds like buckets of fun, Ian. /sarcasm

What an idiotic move by Cabrera--he caught the ball, held out his glove like he was offering the ball to the fan, and then brought it back with a smirk on his face and threw it back to the infield. Jackass.

[ Ian ] says:
on September 28, 2008 8:29 PM

well had i not stopped to vacuum, i assume the jeep wouldn't have started the first time i shut it off today. It was awful just sitting there waiting in the showers. at least those didn't last too long down here.

How bout them Mets.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 28, 2008 8:29 PM

Lovely, Liza. I can't stand classlessness...

[ amanda ] says:
on September 28, 2008 8:30 PM

Ian: I've heard that. I have friends in Lowell so I may just do the spontaneous stand outside and look sad or craigslist or something whenever I make it down there. It always works at sold out Portland games (minus the ones Papi played in, which I had one to the 2nd game anyway.)

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 28, 2008 8:30 PM

How do you feel about the Mets, Ian? Glad or sad?

[ Karen ] says:
on September 28, 2008 8:31 PM

Well, living in Florida I am surrounded by minor league teams. Unfortunately the one in town is VB devil rays, so not a fan of going there. I do want to see the St. Lucie Mets sometime. I have seen daytona cubs with Papelbon's brother which is fun.

[ jules ] says:
on September 28, 2008 8:31 PM

Jackass.

Epic understatement.

[ Ian ] says:
on September 28, 2008 8:32 PM

honestly ecl i don't care one way or the other. It's just strange that for two years in a row on the last day of the season they have choked.

And the worst part is they gave their GM a 4-year extension last week and then this happens.

[ Liza ] says:
on September 28, 2008 8:32 PM

The Mets crack me up. Last game ever at Shea, and their bullpen blows it to the Marlins.

I do feel bad for their fans. But ha.

[ Mac ] says:
on September 28, 2008 8:32 PM

You mean

My
Entire
Team
Sucks?

(no offense to Mets fans; I like them, too, but I hate their September collapse)

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 28, 2008 8:34 PM

We have a single-A club (Rox affiliate) where I live. I should take advantage of that opportunity more often. And then there's Greenville, which is within a reasonable distance. Also Johnson City, TN, which is where Coco got his start when he was just a pup. Just a hop and a skip.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 28, 2008 8:36 PM

I don't have any particular feelings yea or nay about the Mets except for the slight sentimentality that comes with being a native of the area. I sort of feel badly for them that they lost their final game at the stadium.

[ jules ] says:
on September 28, 2008 8:36 PM

I really need to go to more River Cats games (A's AAA). The way the A's trade their players away, who knows, I could be watching a future Sox.

[ Ian ] says:
on September 28, 2008 8:37 PM

Shocker. It's raining again at Fenway

[ jules ] says:
on September 28, 2008 8:38 PM

I'm envious of the rain. It's 95 right now! I'm sick to death of summer weather.

[ Karen ] says:
on September 28, 2008 8:38 PM

I have been a Mets fan second to the Sox of course, since I was a kid, so I am sad when they blow it every fall.

[ Ian ] says:
on September 28, 2008 8:39 PM

I'd rather have 95 then all this freaking rain.

[ Jessi ] says:
on September 28, 2008 8:39 PM

Question: I'm watching YES who just showed a clip of Wakefield going up to the ump at the end of the top of the fifth. He asked for the ball - why?

[ Ian ] says:
on September 28, 2008 8:41 PM

That must have been his last inning of the regular season. he's a free agent so in case he doesn't come back maybe he wanted the ball.

[ Karen ] says:
on September 28, 2008 8:41 PM

It's been raining here all day. At least up there, there are hills for rain to run down. Here it just floods. Every time it rains there is a lake in my parking lot.

[ Ian ] says:
on September 28, 2008 8:41 PM

I don't believe it. It's Jim "Fucking" Rice.

[ Jessi ] says:
on September 28, 2008 8:42 PM

I forgot he's a FA. Aww I hope he comes back - he was overall pretty good this year (lacked a ton of run support).

[ amanda ] says:
on September 28, 2008 8:42 PM

ecl: The Tourists, or?

Years of living in NYC, esp. after growing up in New England, made me a Mets fan. They were the acceptable hometown team in opposition to the Empire.

[ joyosity ] says:
on September 28, 2008 8:43 PM

Aww, I love Justin and Meryl! Cookies for all!

[ Karen ] says:
on September 28, 2008 8:44 PM

Last nesn game for the year, I think I might cry.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 28, 2008 8:44 PM

Amanda -- yes, the Tourists. They have a really cool old historic park.

[ amanda ] says:
on September 28, 2008 8:44 PM

Hairless vs. gross hair. GO!

[ Liza ] says:
on September 28, 2008 8:45 PM

I hope he comes back, too. Even without his personal connections to Boston (13 years now, right?), it's nice to have one of two knuckleballers in the majors on our team.

Meryl is so sweet. She commented on my blog once. It was funny.

[ amanda ] says:
on September 28, 2008 8:46 PM

I have tons of friends in Asheville and have heard great things about the park. I've only seen pictures, spending some times in my sport-less winter last year getting obsessed with the quirks of older parks.

[ joyosity ] says:
on September 28, 2008 8:46 PM

Liza - what was the post and comment about?

[ Liza ] says:
on September 28, 2008 8:47 PM

Cash! Third base! Hah.

Crap, though. Runs.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 28, 2008 8:47 PM

I *saw* that, Liza. Your old blog, right? I had it bookmarked. Was digging through Sox bookmarks today and ran across it again, actually.

Dammit.

[ Karen ] says:
on September 28, 2008 8:47 PM

Ugh.

[ amanda ] says:
on September 28, 2008 8:48 PM

1-4-3 DP! phew. . .

[ joyosity ] says:
on September 28, 2008 8:48 PM

Yeah, Justin! Haha, love it when Remy gets all homer-y.

[ Mac ] says:
on September 28, 2008 8:48 PM

Hah. I haven't been paying close attention to the game. I didn't even notice Cash was playing third again.

But, dammit.
Justin, please get the outs.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 28, 2008 8:48 PM

Amanda, refresh my memory...is it you who lives way up in the Maritime provinces?

How do you know tons of people in Asheville?

[ Mac ] says:
on September 28, 2008 8:49 PM

Nice DP!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 28, 2008 8:49 PM

P.S., Amanda, if you've ever seen Bull Durham, the scenes at the end of the movie were filmed at the park here in Asheville.

[ Liza ] says:
on September 28, 2008 8:51 PM

The post was about Justin, and I had made a joke at the end wondering if he had any younger brothers. She said yes, he has a brother, "just as cute and sweet." She also said she liked the blog (which I didn't end up writing much on before or after that post).

[ Liza ] says:
on September 28, 2008 8:52 PM

Ecl, you've seen it? Ha. And yep, I haven't written anything on it since Spring Training. My mom wanted to know what I was doing online all the time so I gave her the link and she decided to send it to just about everyone I know. So I decided it was much easier to tell people I wasn't keeping up with it anymore than give an actual answer.

[ amanda ] says:
on September 28, 2008 8:53 PM

No, I live in Maine. Okay, tons is maybe an overstatement. I went to an alternative college in Vermont, and a bunch of my punk rock /hippie/ new agey classmates either relocated to southern VT, here in Portland, or Asheville., or have migrated between three.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 28, 2008 8:55 PM

Amanda, sounds like your friends would fit right in here in Asheville. There's a large and vibrant community of young folks who fit that description.

HA -- Liza, sounds like you fooled your mom well. :::grins:::

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 28, 2008 8:58 PM

P.S. Liza, I think I had found it while digging around on line some months ago for Sox blogs. I loved the picture of Manny with the glove on his head. That was the last post, if I recall correctly.

[ amanda ] says:
on September 28, 2008 8:59 PM

Ugh--here comes Ransom. I'm REALLY starting to dislike this guy. It's like a requirement that you gotta be a douchebag to be the Yanks SS>

on September 28, 2008 9:03 PM

Ecl, it wasn't even trying to fool her--it was more trying to avoid stupid conversations. Even my gym teacher tries to talk to me about the Sox (he knows next to nothing about baseball).

And yep, that was the last post. I guess it's fitting.

[ Kim ] says:
on September 28, 2008 9:03 PM

Wait.. i was browsing and I think that I just saw that Don may be doing some games for TBS?

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 28, 2008 9:04 PM

Makes sense, Liza. On both counts.

[ amanda ] says:
on September 28, 2008 9:04 PM

K!

[ Mac ] says:
on September 28, 2008 9:05 PM

Dear Red Sox offense,

Please score runs.

-Mac

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 28, 2008 9:06 PM

I second that, Mac.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 28, 2008 9:08 PM

Understatement! "Sean Casey was not blessed with Olympic speed." Oh, Remy...

[ Jessi ] says:
on September 28, 2008 9:09 PM

Did Casey get thrown out?

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 28, 2008 9:10 PM

Jessi, he grounded out. Remy must have been watching him lumbering towards first base.

[ amanda ] says:
on September 28, 2008 9:14 PM

Dear Melky,

Why are you being such a dick?

--amanda

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 28, 2008 9:16 PM

I spaced out, Amanda. What did the Melkjerk do this time?

[ amanda ] says:
on September 28, 2008 9:17 PM

Fake a ball toss to the fans. BOOOO!

[ Ian ] says:
on September 28, 2008 9:19 PM

Kim - Don is doing games for TBS but my understanding is he won't be calling the Red Sox. I think he gets the other AL matchup.

Dennis Eckersley will be on the TBS coverage as well in studio.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 28, 2008 9:20 PM

Amanda, he did that AGAIN? :::huge eye roll:::

[ Kim ] says:
on September 28, 2008 9:21 PM

Ian, that sucks. How can you not give Don the Sox games? Argh. I don't like Eck in the studio either. Do I have to listen to Joe Buck and the other morons?

[ jenny again ] says:
on September 28, 2008 9:21 PM

Hi all -

Can't believe we're at 162 already. Helluva ride, no?

I can't believe I'm as sad about this as I am, but I really wanted Pedey to win the batting title ... D:

I am PSYCHED for Beckett on Wednesday.

[ Kim ] says:
on September 28, 2008 9:23 PM

Honestly, pornstache ranks up there with my all time least favorite ball players.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 28, 2008 9:24 PM

Hi Jenny. :::waves:::

I really wanted Pedey to win the batting title, too. He's just so amazing. Hopefully his performance in other categories will garner him some accolades.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 28, 2008 9:24 PM

Kim, I can't even LOOK at the guy. He is the epitome of hideous to me.

[ amanda ] says:
on September 28, 2008 9:24 PM

Kim: I second that.

[ joyosity ] says:
on September 28, 2008 9:25 PM

Hmm, I just realized that I think we got through the whole first game today without the "Yankees Suck" chant!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 28, 2008 9:27 PM

Maybe because the game basically doesn't mean much at this point, Joy?

[ joyosity ] says:
on September 28, 2008 9:28 PM

Yeah, I'm just glad it's kinda phasing out.

[ Piney61 ] says:
on September 28, 2008 9:29 PM

Hey guys. What's new? Not much here.

I think they do it so that there's no kind of conflict of interest. I mean think about it, would you like to see the ChiSox guys doing an ALDS game with the White Sox in it? I would not.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 28, 2008 9:31 PM

Howdy, Piney!

[ amanda ] says:
on September 28, 2008 9:33 PM

TIMLIN! Oh how I like it when you do well. . .

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 28, 2008 9:34 PM

Yay for K!

[ starr4 ] says:
on September 28, 2008 9:36 PM

Timlin had long pants on Friday night. It weirded me out a little. I do like the knickers and long red sox.

[ joyosity ] says:
on September 28, 2008 9:38 PM

Is anyone else getting a pop-up in the lower right hand corner when they refresh? It doesn't happen every time, but....

[ Liza ] says:
on September 28, 2008 9:40 PM

Joyosity, I've been getting those for a few days. They're a little... odd.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 28, 2008 9:41 PM

Is it a pop-up about casinos? I've been getting those for a few days also. Creeps me out. I have a firewall and all kinds of protection on this computer, so I don't like seeing that kind of stuff.

[ amanda ] says:
on September 28, 2008 9:41 PM

I have. I even blocked images from the site but it happens occasionally still.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 28, 2008 9:42 PM

Which site is it, this one? Or mlb.com?

[ Mac ] says:
on September 28, 2008 9:42 PM

joyosity - I've been getting those, too. At first, I thought it was spyware, but nothing showed up when I scanned my computer.

[ Karen ] says:
on September 28, 2008 9:43 PM

I have seen the casino one, and I have so much protection things I shouldn't see anything. My computer scans nightly.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 28, 2008 9:44 PM

AC has fire in his eyes at the plate.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 28, 2008 9:45 PM

I scanned a couple of different ways and nothing showed up either.

[ joyosity ] says:
on September 28, 2008 9:46 PM

Ok, so it's not just me. A for effort, Coco!

[ Karen ] says:
on September 28, 2008 9:47 PM

Poor Coco, he looks tired.
Love the bullpen band, will miss them. I noticed Paps is not playing and is on the far right, he looks pissed.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 28, 2008 9:47 PM

Great effort, and I loved the "sleeping on the base" maneuver at the end, too. :::grinning at my guy:::

Nice to see the bullpen band firing up a bit.

[ Liza ] says:
on September 28, 2008 9:47 PM

Aww! The cop getting in on the band-ing!

I love our bullpen. So much.

[ joyosity ] says:
on September 28, 2008 9:48 PM

I would be pissed too if I had had the outing he had in game 1.

[ Ian ] says:
on September 28, 2008 9:49 PM

I got the pop ups as well. Some chick asking me if I wanted to have a good time.

Bullpen cop in the bullpen band

[ amanda ] says:
on September 28, 2008 9:51 PM

C'mon Case!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 28, 2008 9:51 PM

:::crosses all fingers and toes:::

[ joyosity ] says:
on September 28, 2008 9:51 PM

Let's go, Casey!

[ Kim ] says:
on September 28, 2008 9:52 PM

Woo hoo!

[ amanda ] says:
on September 28, 2008 9:52 PM

YES YES YES!

[ joyosity ] says:
on September 28, 2008 9:52 PM

w00t! I love homer Remy!

[ Kim ] says:
on September 28, 2008 9:52 PM

Love Jerry.

"Atta way Case." "It's become a classic. Red Sox / Yankees classic."

[ Mac ] says:
on September 28, 2008 9:52 PM

CASEY!

[ Ian ] says:
on September 28, 2008 9:52 PM

Homah RemDawg called it.

[ Karen ] says:
on September 28, 2008 9:52 PM

Woohoo!!

[ Kim ] says:
on September 28, 2008 9:53 PM

Jerry's all sorts of excited now.

[ Liza ] says:
on September 28, 2008 9:53 PM

Homer Remy rules the world.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 28, 2008 9:53 PM

They probably heard me halfway to Charlotte with the scream that just came out of my mouth.

:::still jumping up and down:::

[ Kim ] says:
on September 28, 2008 9:53 PM

Rats.

[ Mac ] says:
on September 28, 2008 9:54 PM

Homer Remy? I'm not sure I get it...

[ Liza ] says:
on September 28, 2008 9:54 PM

Oh well.

COME ON BULLPEN.

[ Ian ] says:
on September 28, 2008 9:54 PM

HOLY SHIT!!

Beckett possibly out for postseason...

http://tinyurl.com/4vqtfw

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 28, 2008 9:55 PM

I'm still out of breath from all that excitement!

:::hugs Sean Casey:::

[ Kim ] says:
on September 28, 2008 9:55 PM

Holy crap

[ Ian ] says:
on September 28, 2008 9:55 PM

I really hope that's a fucking joke. I think my heart hit the floor.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 28, 2008 9:55 PM

Oh.My.doG....Ian?

:::speechless:::

[ Ellen ] says:
on September 28, 2008 9:55 PM

Tell me it's April fool's day.

[ Lindsay ] says:
on September 28, 2008 9:55 PM

Holy shit. It just officially hit me that this is the last game of the season. I was all cheerful and then it hit me...and now I feel like crying. What am I going to do until April?

My boys better play for another month!

Anyone going to the rally tomorrow at Fenway?

[ Liza ] says:
on September 28, 2008 9:56 PM

Are you fucking shitting me.

[ Karen ] says:
on September 28, 2008 9:56 PM

No! If Beckett is out, I will definitely cry.

[ Lindsay ] says:
on September 28, 2008 9:56 PM

you've got to be fuckin kidding me!

[ Ian ] says:
on September 28, 2008 9:57 PM

All I will say is this. If it's a joke I apologize for posting it.

[ amanda ] says:
on September 28, 2008 9:57 PM

They're talking about it on WRKO. FUCK FUCK FUCK!

[ Mac ] says:
on September 28, 2008 9:57 PM

WHAT THE FUCK?! BECKETT COULD BE OUT OF POSTSEASON?!?!

/caps

[ Liza ] says:
on September 28, 2008 9:57 PM

Lindsay, I'm going.

But holy shit. Beckett. THAT HAD BETTER BE A JOKE, HERALD.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 28, 2008 9:57 PM

Ian, if you get the scoop, would you mind posting it for us non-NESNers? Thanks in advance.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 28, 2008 9:58 PM

Why would the Herald report something like that in jest?

[ joyosity ] says:
on September 28, 2008 9:58 PM

I don't like to curse, but FUCK.

[ Lindsay ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:00 PM

Heres more on it:

[snip - use tinyURL, please!]

[ amanda ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:00 PM

the radio announcers are saying he is getting checked out tomorrow morning.

[ Ian ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:00 PM

And here are your gametimes from the Boston Globe:

The Red Sox will open the ALDS against the Los Angeles Angels on Wednesday at 10:07 p.m. EST. Friday's game two will be played at 9:37 p.m. EST.

[ Karen ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:00 PM

I noticed the times for Wednesday, and Friday night games. I'm happy since I'm a night person, but stinks for everyone else on the east coast.

[ jenny again ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:01 PM

10:07 p.m. EDT first pitch this Wednesday night out in LA.

[ Mac ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:01 PM

C'mon, Aardsma. GET THE OUTS.

[ Kim ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:01 PM

OMG.. what the heck?

[ starr4 ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:01 PM

Uh-OH!!!!!!! If true, this is bad news but these guys have battled injury all season long. I'll continue to hope that they can deliver, some one else will be lights out. I'll maintain cautious optimism, holding back out right panic until next weekend.

[ amanda ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:01 PM

Damn.

[ Kim ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:02 PM

Crap I hate the 10pm games. I'm useless in the morning and the kids are pissed that they can't watch any of the game.

[ joyosity ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:02 PM

Any word on when Game 3 will start?

[ amanda ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:04 PM

k!

[ Kim ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:04 PM

Nice strike out.

[ joyosity ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:04 PM

Yes, let's go, Aardsma!

[ jenny again ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:04 PM

:: clings to Beckett ::

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:04 PM

The Globe said to get lots of sleep Tuesday night. I had no idea they were going to play on West Coast time for night games. That sucks.

[ Lindsay ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:04 PM

a rookie arguing? Hmm...not a good move. I'm surprised his ass didint get thrown out of here.

[ Bethie ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:05 PM

Holy Shit.

Excuse me while I...

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I believe my heart has just stopped beating.

[ Ian ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:05 PM

I may have man tears about Beckett right now. I'm not sure.

[ Lindsay ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:05 PM

Since game 3 is back in Boston I'm sure it will be around 7-8ish

[ Kim ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:05 PM

Fuck

[ Liza ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:05 PM

FUCK IT, AARDSMA.

[ joyosity ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:05 PM

Aw, bugger.

[ amanda ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:05 PM

ARGH!

[ Lindsay ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:05 PM

get Aardsma out of the fuckin game Tito! Is anyone warming?

[ Kim ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:06 PM

Ian, man tears are ok.

[ Mac ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:06 PM

DAMMIT AARDSMA!

[ Karen ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:06 PM

::moaning::

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:06 PM

I just said some really not-nice words sitting here in front of my computer.

:::sigh:::

[ Kim ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:06 PM

pornstache better suck here.

[ amanda ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:06 PM

And pornstache rides again.

[ Kim ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:06 PM

They haven't shown anyone warming.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:07 PM

Bethie: :::HUGS:::

[ Lindsay ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:07 PM

I'm so friggin nervous right now about Beckett + the playoffs.

[ Lindsay ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:08 PM

After this it's time to get the big boys in. Pedie, Youk, Ortiz.

I'm sure that wont happen though since this game doesnt mean anything, but...

[ Ian ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:08 PM

ecl that's 10 pm east coast time

[ starr4 ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:08 PM

Man and Woman tears are OK, esp. regarding Beckett. And, once again, there's a nexus of Samuel and Joshua: we are engaged in a theater of the absurd.

[ jenny again ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:09 PM

It'll have to be a walk-off then. ;D ;D ;D

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:09 PM

Yeah, I know, Ian. I'll just have to settle for being really tired on Thursday at work. :::shrugs:::

[ Lindsay ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:09 PM

I can't believe how emotional this season has been for me! It's crazy! I've shed so many tears! Some over stupid stuff, some over Lester's no no, etc.

Am I the only one?

[ Karen ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:09 PM

Since I normally go to bed between 2 and 3am, I love the times. But I do feel for the morning people.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:10 PM

This evening has been such a roller coaster ride...

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:10 PM

No, Lindsay, you're not the only one. I've bawled like a baby on multiple occasions.

[ Kim ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:11 PM

They keep replaying the final Foulke out of the 2004 WS and I cry every time I see it. My 4 yr old just watched the DVD's of 2004 & 2007 and i cried thru those too.

[ Liza ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:11 PM

I got teary at the Lester no-no... and cried my eyes out after Manny was traded. That's actually all I can think of so far.

[ Kim ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:12 PM

Van Every walk off? Maybe?

[ Lindsay ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:12 PM

I'm glad I'm not the only one. Baseball is so stressful! How the hell do the players deal with it?

[ Kim ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:12 PM

Van Every walk off? Maybe?

[ Lindsay ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:12 PM

I want to see Pedie in this inning...

[ Bethie ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:12 PM

Hell, I'm bawling like a baby right now.

They are gonna update about Josh at some point tonight, right?

And I can't believe there isn't anything on the Globe about it.

[ Lindsay ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:13 PM

That would be pretty sweet Kim!

[ Kim ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:13 PM

I'm surprised that Don & Jerry aren't talking about the Beckett news.

[ Lindsay ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:14 PM

Since the globe is associated with NESN + the Sox they are probably on terms to keep it quiet.

[ Kim ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:15 PM

Jerry calls Valasquez (sp?) to have the winning hit.

[ Lindsay ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:15 PM

Come on cashew! Get it to the Monster!

[ Lindsay ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:16 PM

Ahh

I'm so friggin nervous for Titos press conference...

shit!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:16 PM

Liza, I remember sitting here with everyone in silence during the last inning of Lester's no-no, and when it was over, I cried so hard.

I think with Manny I was so upset that I just shut down emotionally. I remember being numb for a few days while trying to process that he was gone.

I cry pretty easily over baseball, so I can't even list all the times this season that it happened.

[ Lindsay ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:17 PM

Jacoby pinch run for Jonathan? Steals 2nd? Gil hits a gapper?

Sounds good to me...haha

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:18 PM

I want a Coco walkoff...

[ Jessi ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:18 PM

I come back here after doing some chores and see that Beckett may not pitch. Why must you do this to me before I go to sleep? Oh my freaking god, please let him be ok.

Please please please....

[ Liza ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:19 PM

Ecl, you may get your wish.

[ Kim ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:19 PM

Ok Coco. Win this one.

[ starr4 ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:20 PM

Cried today at Pesky's number retirement. And, I shed a tear or two at the season opener, clinch game, and at Lester's no-no.

[ Liza ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:21 PM

Oh yeah, the clinching game. Got a wee teary at that, too.

COME ON COCO.

[ Lindsay ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:21 PM

damn it

[ Kim ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:21 PM

Oh crap.

[ Jessi ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:22 PM

NOOO I don't want extra innings. No no no. Our bullpen needs to be fresh and happy come October.

[ Kim ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:22 PM

I need it over to hear the Beckett news.

[ Mac ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:22 PM

dammit

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:22 PM

Awww, not this time, Covelli.

Our dugout is silly.

[ amanda ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:23 PM

Frig. C'mon Hansack, I want a 1-2-3 inning, please. Let's get to the press conference. Oh, and win.

[ Lindsay ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:23 PM

My dad wants to bet with me. He thinks that the red sox will be knocked out in the first round

[ Ian ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:23 PM

Extra innings in a game that means absolutely nothing.

I emailed the Gliobies for an answer. Haven't heard anything.

I did ask them if this was a joke.

[ Lindsay ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:24 PM

one too many beers?

[ Ian ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:24 PM

Without Beckett Liza that's a tough call. I still like Lester and Dice-K at the top but now having to put Wake or Byrd in for Game 3.

[ Liza ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:25 PM

Come on Hansack.

[ amanda ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:25 PM

One.

[ Ian ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:25 PM

Oops, I meant Lindsay not Liza

[ starr4 ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:25 PM

Doubt Beckett oblique news is a joke, but maybe it's not precise news either, says me, hoping furtively for some good news from this.

[ Lindsay ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:25 PM

I hope the herald has Beckett mixed up with like...Timlin or something

[ Lindsay ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:26 PM

Maybe Beckett complained of a little pain and the herald blew it up into a huge story, but it's really nothing.

[ amanda ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:27 PM

two.

[ Karen ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:27 PM

I searched the internet, the Herald is the only one posting anything. I am really hoping they are wrong.

[ starr4 ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:27 PM

Steve Buckley is unlikely to make that error...but here's hoping.
He's got an article on the herald site.

[ Lindsay ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:28 PM

Last time Beckett had an oblique injury:

Jul 23, 2005: Missed 13 games (oblique injury).

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:28 PM

Karen, I did the same thing, with the same results.

[ starr4 ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:29 PM

Nothing so far on ESPN Baseball Tonight, or streamer.

[ Karen ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:29 PM

Lindsay, I was actually thinking that about being mixed up with Timlin, then saw your post.
Beckett has had a lot more injuries this year, I think he needs to relax more.

[ amanda ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:30 PM

THREE! thanks, buddy.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:31 PM

Three.

Let go boys! Show us why you were called up!

[ Lindsay ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:32 PM

I really feel Pedie coming up. I dont know why, but I just feel it...

[ Ian ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:32 PM

Chip Caray and Buck Martinez are calling the games on TBS for the Red Sox Angels.

Milwaukee-Philadelphia (3 p.m.) gets Brewers local announcer Brian Anderson and longtime Atlanta announcer Joe Simpson helping break in TV rookie and longtime Braves pitcher John Smoltz in a three-man booth.

Dodgers-Cubs (6:30 p.m.) gets Stockton, Darling and Tony Gwynn.

On Thursday, Minnesota/White Sox at Tampa Bay (2:30 p.m.) will get Red Sox local announcer Don Orsillo and Harold Reynolds

[ Lindsay ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:33 PM

Come on AC

[ Karen ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:34 PM

Don Orsillo announcing TB, that will be good to watch.

[ Lindsay ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:35 PM

This question may be really stupid, but...

the tampa bay game will be on...fox?

[ Kim ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:35 PM

I'm really pissed that TB series gets Don and we get guys that I don't like.

[ Mac ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:36 PM

Lindsay - All the Division Series games will be on TBS. ALCS on TBS, NLCS on FOX. World Series on FOX.

[ Lindsay ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:36 PM

Ya, but they need to make it fair. Cant have Don (who favors the Red Sox) announcing our game.

[ Kim ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:36 PM

Yes!

[ starr4 ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:36 PM

While I know y'all will be here in the post season, I wanted to again say Thank You. You've added a whole new, insightful, fun, passionate perspective to baseball, and to the Red Sox for me.

I look forward to many more game threads with you, this post season and beyond.

[ Jessi ] says:

[ Karen ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:37 PM

The one who annoys me most is the blonde chick on Fox. By the end of the World Series, I wanted her gone.

[ Ian ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:37 PM

ACCCCCCCCCCCCCC

[ Kim ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:37 PM

[ Lindsay ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:38 PM

[ Kim ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:38 PM

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:38 PM

on September 28, 2008 10:39 PM

Trying to get the double play.

[ Ian ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:40 PM

I like DO's thinking. They walk the bases loaded we counter with Ortiz.

[ Lindsay ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:40 PM

Put Ortiz on deck. Then have Pedie pinch hit for Casey

[ Kim ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:40 PM

cripes.

[ Lindsay ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:40 PM

ahh

I'm nervous!

[ Kim ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:40 PM

Orsillo wants Papi up.

[ Ian ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:41 PM

Why are the fans booing? Do they really think Girardi and the Yankees are just going to hand this one to the Red Sox.

They'd love to sweep the red sox this weekend.

[ Lindsay ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:41 PM

I would've loved it if they threw the ball away on the intentional walk.

[ Jessi ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:42 PM

Why not pinch hit?!

[ Lindsay ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:42 PM

Come on! Just a sac fly!

[ Kim ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:42 PM

[ Lindsay ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:43 PM

Mikey's loving it

[ Kim ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:43 PM

He should have leaned into that and taken the hit for the team.

[ Lindsay ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:43 PM

"I was calling for you Big Papi"

[ Kim ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:44 PM

Apparently Papi heard Don calling for him.

[ Lindsay ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:44 PM

He definately shoul've Kim. All it had to do was hit the uniform.

[ Ian ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:44 PM

let's see. check swing on a pitch down the middle.

just end the regular season already

[ Lindsay ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:44 PM

Come on Tito...do something?

[ Kim ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:44 PM

This is really gonna piss me off if they can't get him home.

[ Ian ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:47 PM

okay for the non-nesn'rs I'm going to refrain from doing my recap so I can tell you what i hear on the postgame show about Beckett

[ Lindsay ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:47 PM

I'm crying... =(

[ Karen ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:47 PM

Awesome ending.

[ Kim ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:47 PM

Wow no more Don & Jerry til April

[ Lindsay ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:47 PM

I'm so nervous for the press conference..

[ Ian ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:48 PM

one problem. it doesn't appear there's a postgame show. NESN SportsDesk lights out is on.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:48 PM

As I said earlier, what a roller coaster of a game. I'm just glad it ended on an upward tilt.

Looking forward to hearing what you learn, Ian. I should be up for a little while.

[ Lindsay ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:49 PM

no! holy fuckin crap!

"some potentially troubling news"

[ Ian ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:49 PM

John Chandler just said they are working on the troubling news about Beckett and will get it to us real soon.

[ Kim ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:49 PM

Ian, NESN Lights out just said potentially troubling news about Beckett

[ Lindsay ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:49 PM

they said they'll get to it shortly

[ Jessi ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:49 PM

Oh god, please let Beckett be ok. W/o Schilling or Manny, we really really need him.

[ starr4 ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:49 PM

Uh oh...doesn't appear Beckett news is a joke. Well, let's see what we're made of this season.
Happy end of the regular season for us.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:49 PM

Odd that they wouldn't have a postgame for the last regular season game...

[ Lindsay ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:51 PM

Well since it was a rainout...technically the afternoon game was the last game

[ Lindsay ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:51 PM

Grr, just get to the Beckett news!

[ Ian ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:53 PM

this will keep you occupied. Here is some sean casey video blogging.

http://tinyurl.com/3pwdr5

[ Kim ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:53 PM

Stop recaping the games and get to the Beckett news.

[ Karen ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:55 PM

Not having nesn is not helping.

[ Kim ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:56 PM

They have no more than the Herald. Oblique injury in a bullpen sesson after last start.

[ Bethie ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:56 PM

Well, apparently good news is traveling fast.

They just said they are going to talk about it on Baseball tonight on ESPN.

[ Ian ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:56 PM

So far the news they are saying about Beckett is what we've heard.

Terry Francona is saying Beckett could go game 3.

[ Mac ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:56 PM

ESPN says they'll have news about Beckett in a few minutes.

[ Kim ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:56 PM

but Tito is saying Beckett game 3

[ Kim ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:57 PM

Ian your internet connection must be slightly faster than mine. I can't imagine you type any faster.

[ Liza ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:57 PM

Lester game one, Daisuke game two, Beckett game three?

Who'da thought that a year ago?

[ Kim ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:58 PM

Tito isn't 100% confident in talking about Beckett.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:58 PM

Strained his oblique. Scheduled to pitch game 3. Thought about scheduling him for Game 2, but are giving him extra time.

Tito: "I think he's going to be OK."

[ Ian ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:59 PM

I'll have the terry francona video up in 10 minutes or so.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:59 PM

OK - who posted the too-long URL and broke the site? :)

[ Kim ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:59 PM

Texy, Tito said that he really didn't seem all that confident. Scares me.

[ Jessi ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:59 PM

Wait, Game 3 is at Fenway right?

[ Kim ] says:
on September 28, 2008 10:59 PM

not me. not me not me.

[ Ian ] says:
on September 28, 2008 11:00 PM

Having him at least slotted in for Game 3 is a lot better than him not being in the rotation at all.

[ Kim ] says:
on September 28, 2008 11:00 PM

Yes game 3 at home.

[ Kim ] says:
on September 28, 2008 11:00 PM

true Ian. better than scratching him already.

[ Ian ] says:
on September 28, 2008 11:00 PM

wasn't me. I know better.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on September 28, 2008 11:00 PM

Indefinite pronouns leave me confused. Tito said that who didn't really seem all that confident? Tito? His last statement was exactly what I quoted... and then NESN cut away. Why would they do that? Show us the WHOLE press conference.

[ Jessi ] says:
on September 28, 2008 11:00 PM

Thanks Kim!

[ Mac ] says:
on September 28, 2008 11:01 PM

Thanks for the info, all.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 28, 2008 11:03 PM

Texy, I hate to fink on people, but if you scroll up you'll see that it was Lindsay.

I wonder if you should post a reminder about tinyurl.

[ Kim ] says:
on September 28, 2008 11:04 PM

Sorry. I was typing after drinking. Never a good idea. I was trying to say that while Tito said beckett would pitch in game 3, Tito didn't seem extremely confident when he was saying that. but maybe I was just reading too much into it.

[ Karen ] says:
on September 28, 2008 11:04 PM

Nesn.com usually posts the post game interviews within an hr, that's how I watch all the post game interviews.

[ Ian ] says:
on September 28, 2008 11:04 PM

To me it was like Francona didn't even want to talk about it.

[ Kim ] says:
on September 28, 2008 11:05 PM

I think that I need to go to bed. I have had enough wine to hinder my typing and thought process. Night all.

[ Karen ] says:
on September 28, 2008 11:06 PM

Night all.

[ Kim ] says:
on September 28, 2008 11:07 PM

Ian, You are probably right. I'm probably reading too much into Tito's interview.

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on September 28, 2008 11:07 PM

I would think after 19 innings of baseball on the last day of the season, Tito is tired of talking about just about everything. Trying to read his state of mind now is probably difficult to do.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on September 28, 2008 11:08 PM

See you folks at Game 1. Hopefully some of us can stay up late that evening.

[ Lindsay ] says:
on September 28, 2008 11:08 PM

I left for a little and came back to find out that I broke the site?

I'm so sorry Texy! I didnt know that long links mess up the site. Isnt tinypic just for images? How do you upload a website there?

[ Texas Gal ] says:
on September 28, 2008 11:10 PM

tinyURL - different than tinypic. Click on the "Guidelines for Gameday Open Threads" link, it'll tell you all about it.

[ Lindsay ] says:
on September 28, 2008 11:11 PM

Ohh, tinyurl.com

I never heard of that.

I will make sure that I use that next time.

Sorry again Texy!
