GO SOX!

[ Angie ] says:
on October 14, 2008 7:24 PM

I second that! Go Sox!

[ Twinkie ] says:
on October 14, 2008 7:30 PM

Come on Wakey! You can do it!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on October 14, 2008 7:33 PM

Crossing all fingers and toes for our guys tonight...

[ jules ] says:
on October 14, 2008 7:41 PM

Hey everyone! I'm ready for a great game.

Tonight's lineup is certainly different:
1. J.D. Drew, RF
2. Dustin Pedroia, 2B
3. David Ortiz, DH
4. Kevin Youkilis, 3B
5. Jason Bay, LF
6. Mark Kotsay, 1B
7. Coco Crisp, CF
8. Kevin Cash, C
9. Jed Lowrie, SS

I think it's a good move. Ellsbury has struggled--not even on base in this series. Papi needs to start hitting, HRs would be nice, but at this point, just *hits* would be helpful.

[ Kristin ] says:
on October 14, 2008 7:42 PM

Hey everyone...Believe in Wakey!

[ jules ] says:
on October 14, 2008 7:45 PM

Thoughts and prayers for Mike Lowell who is having surgery on Monday. He's played through incredible pain and has given so much for the team.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on October 14, 2008 7:48 PM

I know, I read that, Jules. Poor guy -- I hope it's the answer. :::hugs Mikey:::

[ Mac ] says:
on October 14, 2008 7:50 PM

My thoughts and prayers go out to Mikey. I hope his surgery goes well.

[ jules ] says:
on October 14, 2008 7:52 PM

Sonnanstine has been brutal against the Sox in his last two starts: not one earned run and 12Ks. I hope we get to him early and reverse that trend.

Go Wake!

[ Bethie ] says:
on October 14, 2008 7:54 PM

I hope Sonnanstine has a Kazmir like night tonight. That would rule.

So would our bats actually providing hits. ::hint, hint::

Big hugs to MikeyLOL. Having the surgery now means he should be in good shape come spring training. We'll be thinking about ya, buddy.

GO SOX!!

[ jules ] says:
on October 14, 2008 7:57 PM

Trot Nixon throwing out the first pitch!

[ Karen ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:01 PM

I am so sick of seeing the Rays. Almost as sick of them as these announcers.

[ Liza ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:01 PM

Trot threw out the first pitch and I missed it!? GAH.

-sends good vibes to Mikey Lowell-

[ jules ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:01 PM

"The natives are restless on Yawkey Way..."

Shut up, Chip. Shut up.

[ Karen ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:02 PM

I got the text about Mikey earlier today. I hope his surgery goes well.

[ Kristin ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:03 PM

PV's to Mikey....hoping the fans are a little louder tonight....give them something to cheer about boys....and shut up these stupid announcers

[ jules ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:06 PM

and shut up these stupid announcers

No doubt. They are pathetic.

[ EricaC ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:06 PM

Hey everyone! Haven't been around for awhile, but go Sox! Best wishes to Mikey. And please will someone pull the plug on these announcers?

[ jules ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:07 PM

Sager: lovely burgundy velvet sportscoat, there.

I hope the ump calls a good game.

[ Karen ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:07 PM

Sager seems to point out the obvious. Like everyone doesn't have a brain. Just because Rays fans don't, doesn't mean Sox fans are as stupid.

[ Mac ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:08 PM

WaKe

[ jules ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:08 PM

WaKe!

[ Liza ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:08 PM

WaKey to start it off... nice.

[ Bethie ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:09 PM

Good start Wakey!

[ Kristin ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:09 PM

when your wishing you were listening to Tim McCarver, you know these guys are bad

[ Bethie ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:10 PM

Right now....and I can't believe I'm gonna say this...

But I would take Joe Morgan AND Tim McCarver over this.

::shudder::

I think I just threw up a little.

[ jules ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:11 PM

Bethie and Karen, I'm with you on that.

[ LifelongSoxFan ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:11 PM

I believe - I believe - this is the WAKE-up call we need.

[ Mac ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:11 PM

Dammit.

[ Liza ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:11 PM

No. We will not start this way.

[ Bethie ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:11 PM

DO NOT WANT!!!

[ LifelongSoxFan ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:12 PM

...I spoke too soon

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:12 PM

FUCK DAMN SHIT!

$#%^&*()&%^$

[ Kristin ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:12 PM

Not a good way to start

[ Kim ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:12 PM

Are you freaking kiddding me?

[ Mac ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:12 PM

...at least it's still early?

FUCK THIS SHIT.

[ Liza ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:12 PM

No fucking way.

[ Kristin ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:12 PM

Oh my

[ Kim ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:12 PM

Seriously?

[ Karen ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:12 PM

No! Why?

[ Bethie ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:12 PM

Is it too early to turn this off and go to bed??

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:12 PM

:::hangs head:::

[ EricaC ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:13 PM

not cool

[ Liza ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:13 PM

Someone tell Wakefield he's not throwing the Rays batting practice.

[ Kristin ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:13 PM

Please stop this now

[ Mac ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:14 PM

*headdesk*

Wake, we do not want a repeat of the Rangers game from last month.

[ jenny again ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:14 PM

Hmmm. How do I reframe this with a focus on the brightside ... ?

[ Kim ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:16 PM

Well, we have 9 innings to get these runs back. Right? I'm not giving up yet.

[ jenny again ] says:

Come on Wakey! Get this last out so we can try to get these runs back!!

[ Mac ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:18 PM

*joins in with Liza and jenny*

LET'S GO, RED SOX! *clap clap clapclapclap*

[ LifelongSoxFan ] says:

[ Kristin ] says:

[ Bethie ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:20 PM

[ Liza ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:23 PM

Let's go Pedie! clap clap clapclapclap

[ Bethie ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:24 PM

These announcers have severe man crushes on the rays.

I'm convinced.

[ jenny again ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:24 PM

I wish I had an SAP button to utilize. -.-

[ Kim ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:24 PM

Where did the Red Sox team who played LAA go? This sure isn't them.

[ tia ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:25 PM

some serious man crushes they have on the rays

[ Mac ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:25 PM

PERFECT GAME NO-HITTER SHUTOUT.

[ Karen ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:25 PM

Pedie just threw his glove at the tbs camera.

[ Bethie ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:25 PM

The Papi shift SUCKS.

[ Mac ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:25 PM

Dammit. That didn't work.

[ Kim ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:26 PM

NO-HITTER!

(If we keep chanting it will we make him blow it?)

[ Kim ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:27 PM

Have I mentioned that I love the eTrade baby?

[ Bethie ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:27 PM

Me too Kim. Those commercials crack me up no matter how many times I see them.

[ LifelongSoxFan ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:29 PM

Joe Maddon looks like Spencer Tracy in "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner".

[ Liza ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:29 PM

Chris Sager, sorry to be the one to pass this on, but Fenway Park is not actually your personal playground.

[ Kim ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:29 PM

Did they just say something nice about the Sox?

[ Kim ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:30 PM

Bethie, The clown one cracks me up... "I underestimated the...."

[ LifelongSoxFan ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:30 PM

Yeah - OK guys - more like this stuff!!

[ Bethie ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:30 PM

That's more like it boys!!!!

[ Mac ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:30 PM

Thank you, Wake.

Now can you just repeat what you just did there for a few more innings?

[ Kim ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:30 PM

Nice Nice Inning!

[ Kristin ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:30 PM

That was much better Timmy, now please boys, runs...NOW

[ Bethie ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:30 PM

That one is my favorite.

"I underestimated the creepiness" HA HA

[ Liza ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:31 PM

Jenny - Belated comment, but great idea. I'm looking for it now. I don't know if my TV has it...

[ Mac ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:31 PM

Bethie, is that from the Verizon ad?

[ Kristin ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:32 PM

I'm personally a fan of the Miller High Life commercials....."i gotts smell me a hot dog just to know I'm alive"

[ Kim ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:32 PM

It also makes me happy that the Phillies are up 3 - 1

[ LifelongSoxFan ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:33 PM

At least they don't have Dane Cook doing the October commercials on TBS this year.

[ Kim ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:34 PM

I love the Miller Guy too... My fav is the one with Ostrich Burgers.

[ Kim ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:34 PM

That's how you start it!

[ Kristin ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:34 PM

Hey-Bay...a guy on base...

[ Angie ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:34 PM

Hi everyone. BAY!!

[ Mac ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:35 PM

Ha! Thanks for the error, Longoria!

[ Ellen ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:35 PM

Lifelong, I posted on my blog this morning about Joe Maddon looking like Spencer Tracy! Also about him looking like Spongebob when he goes jellyfishing.

[ jenny again ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:35 PM

Atta boy, Kots. NICE.

[ Kristin ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:35 PM

KOTSAY.....lets keep this going

[ LifelongSoxFan ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:35 PM

It's about time...YES!!!

[ Liza ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:36 PM

Look, offense!

[ Bethie ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:36 PM

I see hits!!! Wheeeee.

[ Mac ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:36 PM

SHIT.

[ Liza ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:36 PM

No gracias, Coco.

[ Kim ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:36 PM

Crud. Crud. Crud.

[ Kristin ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:37 PM

DAMMIT

[ Karen ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:37 PM

ugh.

[ LifelongSoxFan ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:37 PM

HAHA Ellen - I've always thought that!

[ Angie ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:37 PM

Damn double play.

[ Bethie ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:37 PM

Well poo.

But at least we hit the ball. Not so happy about the stranding runners, but we've got time.

I'm trying to stay positive. Very hard for me, the natural born pessimist.

[ Kim ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:38 PM

bethie, I was thinking the same thing. The bats are looking better. It's a good sign.

[ Jessi ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:39 PM

Hey guys, I'm here (and was here yesterday). Games are making me depressed. Probably won't be commenting much.

I just keep reminding myself we were down 3-0 and 3-1 when we won the WS. But this just seems like the Rays year (and I'm kinda ok with that).

[ Kim ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:39 PM

This is the first Sox game in a long time that I haven't been working, watching & reading here. I always seem to have to work at night because the kids don't let me during the day.

[ Bethie ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:39 PM

And if we need to utilize Coco and send him out to the mound and clobber Sonnanstine, at least he will already be warmed up. :)

[ Kristin ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:40 PM

come on Wakey, quick inning

[ Bethie ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:41 PM

Youk and the post season beard kick ASS!!

[ Kim ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:41 PM

My 4 yr old just reminded me that we are supposed to turn off all our lights during tonights game.

[ Angie ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:41 PM

Haha I like what you're thinking Bethie...

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:41 PM

I love Youk's postseason beard, Bethie. What an improvement!

[ Kim ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:42 PM

So we hit the ER again this weekend. (4 yr old has now been 4 times...) this time not for stitches... a concussion... he TOTALLY lost his memory. Didn't know his birthday or his sisters name or the Red Sox lineup. It was SCAREY.

[ Karen ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:42 PM

Prefer Youk's goatee.

[ Bethie ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:43 PM

I love it too Faith. It suits him. But I still think he scares the children a little more now. :)

Uh-oh. Wakey fall down, go boom.

[ Kim ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:43 PM

I mean SCARY. (Jeesh I can't spell)

[ Angie ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:43 PM

I prefer Youk's goatee too. And I meant I like Bethie's Coco idea.

[ Liza ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:43 PM

Oh, Kim, that's gotta be scary. Good vibes your way. -hugs-

That was close. Does anyone else see the irony in that they were just saying how he was the oldest pitcher to start an ALCS game when he bellyflops trying to field a ball?

[ Karen ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:44 PM

I want Tek's goatee back, I am not a fan of the beard.
Ugh.

[ Kim ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:44 PM

Are you kidding me?

[ Ellen ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:44 PM

shit.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:44 PM

I believe I'm going to be sick.

[ Liza ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:44 PM

Fuck.

[ Mac ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:44 PM

FUCK THIS SHIT.

[ jenny again ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:44 PM

Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan. This is hard.

[ Bethie ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:45 PM

Okay, Coco. Mission, should you choose to accept it....

break Aybar's legs.

[ Angie ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:45 PM

What. The. Fuck?

[ Kristin ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:45 PM

I can't watch this anymore

[ Liza ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:45 PM

Let's... go... Red... Sox...?

[ Karen ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:45 PM

Thank You Tito.

[ Piney61 ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:46 PM

They got no luck in this series....absolutely positively no luck. That's all.

[ tia ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:47 PM

just his legs.. why stop there

[ Bethie ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:47 PM

Must....

Stay....

Positive.....

Must....Stay....Positi.......

SON OF A BITCH!! This shit sucks. Why can't this team hit OR pitch there way out of a fucking paper bag against this team????

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:47 PM

Late comment to Karen: I too prefer Tek with the goatee rather than a beard.

[ Erin ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:47 PM

WTF? I take a shower and this is happening?

[ jenny again ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:48 PM

Not giving up.

Not giving up.

Not giving up.

[ Mac ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:48 PM

I have faith in the Sox.

I have faith in the Sox.

I have faith in the Sox.

[ Twinkie ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:49 PM

So despite his recent trouble, but with his numbers against Sonnanstine do you try to go with Tek, or say screw it and just keep with the same lineup?

[ LifelongSoxFan ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:49 PM

gee whiz - I'm about ready to induce vomiting.

[ tia ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:50 PM

my god i think those rays have hickeys all over their asses. with all this ass kissing that is going on

[ Bethie ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:50 PM

Someone go and give Wakey a hug.

[ Kristin ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:50 PM

Thank you Justin....now can we PLEASE get some runs....I don't like to beg...but I will

[ tia ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:51 PM

a hug.. i am thinking a kick in the ass

[ Jessi ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:51 PM

Don't worry about Wakey, Bethie - he has Lester and Beckett to talk to about completely sucky starts.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:51 PM

I guess the barrage of e-mails to TBS didn't do a thing to un-bias the announcers.

:::also, hugs Wakey:::

[ Amy ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:52 PM

That could possibly have been Wakey's last start in a Red Sox uniform.

[ LifelongSoxFan ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:52 PM

nice to see Terry learned from the past and took him out EARLY instead of prolonging the agony.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:53 PM

Tia, perhaps Coco could administer the kick?

:::I think Tia likes Coco almost as much as I do:::

[ Twinkie ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:53 PM

I love Wake. I think I'm feeling more sadness for him than any other emotion right now.

[ Mac ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:53 PM

Dear Red Sox,

Please break the shutout. One run. That's all I'm asking for right now. More than one run would be great, but if you can just score one run, that's fantastic.

Sincerely,
Mac

[ Karen ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:54 PM

Way to go Cash!

[ Liza ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:54 PM

LOOK! A RUN!

[ LifelongSoxFan ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:54 PM

[ Kristin ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:54 PM

[ ecl1958 ] says:

on October 14, 2008 8:55 PM

ecl- how many people wrote letters?

[ Bethie ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:56 PM

I walk away from the TV and Cash hits a home run.

Maybe I should spend the rest of the game in the other room?? :)

[ tia ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:57 PM

yes elc.. i love coco. wicked nice guy. shops in my store all the time

[ Erin ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:59 PM

Tia- where do you work?

[ tia ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:59 PM

well beth we both know when you leave the room "magic" happens.. maybe you should think about a few more trips outside ;)

[ Kristin ] says:
on October 14, 2008 8:59 PM

well one is better then nothing...it's still early....I have faith in this team....I have faith in this team...(I'm gonna keep saying that to myself)

[ Bethie ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:00 PM

Yes Tia. I know. I already have to leave the room when Youk bats.

I might just sit outside for the rest of the game. You'll have to text me with updates. :)

[ tia ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:00 PM

i work at a grocery store.. everybody needs food.. lol.. he have a lot of boston pro players shop in my store

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:00 PM

I don't know, Erin...some folks from here wrote letters because they were upset at the bias. No idea how many.

Tia -- really? Wow...he does seem like he would be super nice. You can tell him that he's got a big fan in North Carolina!

I can't take this. I'm so, so nervous.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:02 PM

Ah, Tia, and here I pictured you owning some sort of trendy boutique type store. Haha!!!

[ tia ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:03 PM

nope low life grocery store worker..LOL

[ Bethie ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:03 PM

I think Kazmir spits as much as Youk sweats.

[ Twinkie ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:04 PM

Tia--A chain or just a neighborhood store? I'm a lowly GM clerk at one of the chains.

[ Bethie ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:04 PM

Oops I meant Garza

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:05 PM

That's okay, Tia -- I'm a lowly medical office peon myself.

:::runs back to the other room to watch the game for awhile:::

[ tia ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:05 PM

a chain store. u in mass???

[ Twinkie ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:07 PM

Yup. But the only exciting thing that's happened at my store was Paul Pierce signing DVDs. No grocery shopping Sox.

[ tia ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:08 PM

well that must have been cool. what chain r u at? u could be the enemy...LOL

[ Bethie ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:09 PM

Justin Masterson.....I think I love you!

[ Twinkie ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:09 PM

YOU could be the enemy! Stop & Shop, with our new happy sunshiney yellow shirts that I hate.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:09 PM

Good job, JMast! Time for run support!

[ Kristin ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:10 PM

[ Erin ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:11 PM

Anyone else miss the old stop & shop logo?

[ Mac ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:11 PM

Liza - Our farm system is wonderful, incredible, amazing and every synonym thereof.

[ Twinkie ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:12 PM

Small world, eh? I'm kinda glad you didn't say Market Basket; we have one literally out our back door that's kicking our asses. You may have even heard of how much the Reading store sucks!

Come on, Papi! Do something!

[ Mac ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:13 PM

Dear Red Sox,

Please tie the game. If you can just score four more runs, that'd be great. I'm not asking for you to take the lead, but if you can just tie the game, that would be fantastic.

Sincerely,
Mac

[ jenny again ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:13 PM

C'mon, David OR-tiz.

[ Liza ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:14 PM

No matter what else happens in this game, I will be content if Ortiz hits a ball that isn't a slow roller to the right side.

[ jenny again ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:14 PM

OK, do we go for the lucky stuff from last October (peanut m&ms) or new apple dumpling ice cream?

[ tia ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:15 PM

i think we all have a mb around. i am like 15 miles down the road in danvers.. now that is funny.

beth did u leave the room when youk came up

[ Bethie ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:15 PM

Yes I did. I snuck outside to put my gym bag in the car.

[ tia ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:16 PM

apple dumpling ice cream.. and please send some my way

[ Twinkie ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:16 PM

...I should have said that "something" is not "ground into shift". Let's go, guys!

I was at one of the games against Cleveland with a co-worker and we were noticing exactly how stupid the new logo looks on the garage door.

[ Mac ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:16 PM

jenny - Apple dumpling ice cream? That sounds delicious!

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:18 PM

Apple dumpling ice cream sounds wonderful.

And I feel so sorry for Papi...

[ Karen ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:18 PM

[ Liza ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:19 PM

I want apple dumpling ice cream...

[ tia ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:19 PM

[ Kristin ] says:

[ jules ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:21 PM

who's talking about apple dumpling ice cream? omg, that sounds great.

Game is sucking, but Masterson is doing well. Come on, bats!

[ Twinkie ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:21 PM

It's not that it's a BAD logo, it just doesn't look right at Fenway. But I just don't like yellow. The purple is OK, though. You're one of the lucky ones.

[ jenny again ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:21 PM

justinKKKK!

[ tia ] says:

how many more of the rays can TBS praise....

[ Liza ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:24 PM

Jed bobbing up and down in the corner of the screen is making me giggle. He's being very diligent about holding Crawford on that base.

[ Erin ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:24 PM

Are they being payed by the Rays to say these things?

[ jenny again ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:24 PM

Apple dumpling ice cream in my freezer! I'm all cuddled into the couch still, though; need to go get ice cream soon. ;D

Erin - I'm convinced they are.

on October 14, 2008 9:24 PM

[ Liza ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:26 PM

[ Erin ] says:

[ Liza ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:27 PM

"Athletes all over the field"

Shut up. Just shut up.

[ Mac ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:27 PM

TBS announcers - SHUT THE FUCK UP ABOUT THE RAYS. We get it. You're for them. But can you just announce the fucking game without bias? You're making me want to listen to Joe Morgan and Tim McCarver and Joe Buck and Hawk Harrelson.

[ Piney61 ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:28 PM

I don't see why they can't win. Totally doable. I mean it's not like the Red Sox have much to lose if they don't come back.

[ Mac ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:28 PM

PLEASE
THANK YOU

[ Twinkie ] says:

The next part of the order for the Sox is the part that has all two of our hits. Pull it together boys!

[ Adam ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:32 PM

I don't know which is worse, the offense/wakefield or listening to this broadcast. It makes me want to puke (the broadcast)!

[ Liza ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:33 PM

They said "athletes all over the diamond" again. Am I the only one this pisses off?

[ Anonymous ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:33 PM

i. am. so. frustrated.

SIGH.

[ Bethie ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:33 PM

Go ahead and talk up the Rays outfield.

Just remember....Two-thirds of the earth is covered by water, and the rest is covered by Jacoby Ellsbury.

So nah nah.

[ Karen ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:33 PM

They are annoying. I would so like to take a bat to the announcers.

[ Liza ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:34 PM

Dave Cash? Did I just hear correctly?

[ Mac ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:34 PM

Liza - No, you're not the only one.

[ jenny again ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:34 PM

"Dave Cash"? Really?

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:34 PM

Upton pisses me off.

[ Kristin ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:34 PM

sooooo about to throw something at the tv

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:35 PM

Liza, you're definitely not the only one.

Bethie -- "two thirds of the earth..." I love it!

[ Mac ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:35 PM

I think I'm going to send TBS a dozen (or so) strongly worded letters about their announcers.

[ jenny again ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:35 PM

OK. Ice cream. This is now an emergency.

[ Bethie ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:36 PM

The whole damn team pisses me off.

And did everyone see the shirts they had in Tampa the other night? The ones that say "You bet your sweet ass I hate the Red Sox"?

We get it. You guys are the comeback kids. But at least be gracious with it. Don't be arrogant assholes.

[ Twinkie (Cash's only fangirl) ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:36 PM

ARE YOU SERIOUS TBS??? *screams, foams at mouth*

I think the only reason they've remotely comlimented "Dave" is because he's from Tampa. They like things from Tampa.

[ Liza ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:36 PM

Mac - My thoughts exactly. I'm writing an angry email as we speak. The constant ass-kissing of the Rays is bad enough, but "Dave Cash" really pissed me off.

[ Bethie ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:37 PM

I may have gotten that quote wrong, Faith. I'm tired and frustrated, and have never been good at fractions. :)

[ Bethie ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:38 PM

Twinkie.....I promise you, you are not Cash's only fan girl.

I've had my eye on him for a while. ;)

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:38 PM

Bethie, I think it's 3/4, but for the purposes of an outfield, who's counting?

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:39 PM

Beth and Twinkie, may I join the Cash club? I noticed him a long time ago.

[ Liza ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:39 PM

This fucking sucks.

[ tia ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:39 PM

PA-THED-IC

[ Mac ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:39 PM

Liza - Seriously. "Dave Cash?" They can't even get THAT right? Sheesh.

[ Bethie ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:39 PM

Definitely not me Faith.

The only fraction I am sure of now is that this game 100% sucks.

[ Twinkie ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:40 PM

He's an absolute sweetie, too. Think I scared him a bit, though. And I'm wearing my Cash tee as we speak. Love him to death.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:42 PM

You're right, Bethie, it sucks.

Twinkie, that's pretty funny -- you scared him? :::cracking up:::

[ Kim ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:42 PM

I sent a nasty email to TBS last night.

[ Bethie ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:42 PM

Can I just say that no matter how far we make it this year, that I am VERY PROUD of this baseball team.

They have accomplished so much with the year they have had to endure. I just love 'em.

[ Mac ] says:

I agree 100%.

[ tia ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:44 PM

don't feel bad.. i think papelbon is afraid of me and my camera. about ready for a restraining order. when you can take 600 pictures in 2 innings while he is in the bullpen, they tend to notice a little ;)

[ Twinkie ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:44 PM

Yep! He was doing a signing and I kinda fangirled a bit when I got up there. And then I hung around for a while after he took a pic with me and just stared at him a bit. I'm the first ot admit it was kinda creepy.

[ jenny again ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:44 PM

THIS ICE CREAM IS DELICIOUS.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:44 PM

I feel sorry for my TV. It doesn't deserve all the cussing that's coming its way this evening.

[ Bethie ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:45 PM

I may really hate the way this game is going right now, and the series too. But I love this ball club so much.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:46 PM

Bethie and Mac, I agree 200%. They're warriors, they really are.

[ Kristin ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:46 PM

I do love this team...but I really hate how we are being embarrassed in our own ball park

[ Twinkie ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:47 PM

I think I'm still amazed they made it this far with all the crap they've had to deal with this season.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:47 PM

:::hugs the entire roster so they can feel the love:::

[ Liza ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:47 PM

Jenny, I'm jealous.

And I agree with Bethie, Mac, and everyone else. If the Sox had fallen short last year, nobody would be saying they were the Big Bad Sox. They had tons of injuries and other issues (see: Ramirez, Manny) to deal with this year. That they even got to the ALCS is incredible, and I'm not counting out anything more.

[ Liza ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:47 PM

WHERE IS MASTERSON.

[ Bethie ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:48 PM

True Kristin. It's not fun. And kinda ugly.

And if the Rays do make it to the world series?? May the Phillies wipe the floor with your arrogant asses.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:48 PM

Awww geeze, this is really bad.

On a lighter note, Tia and Twinkie, if I were in your shoes and had a chance to be around any of my baseball boyfriends, I'd probably do something just as creepy and scary! I'm old enough to be their mothers, but I can fangirl with the best of 'em.

[ jenny again ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:48 PM

OK, I can't take it anymore. The radio is going on in the kitchen and MUTE is happening on my tv. FOR HONESTY.

[ Kristin ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:49 PM

Dear TBS: Manny is not "unavailable", HE IS NOT ON OUR TEAM....please move on

[ Mac ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:49 PM

Very well said, Liza.

[ Erin ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:50 PM

If the Rays do make it I want to see their asses get kicked by the NL team that goes.

Mostly cause of the "fans" in Tampa. The went from 29th in attendance to 26th in attendance this year.

[ Kristin ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:52 PM

I HATE THIS GAME

[ Kim ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:52 PM

I feel like I'm watching a last place team...

[ Bethie ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:52 PM

I DO NOT want the Dodgers to win the NLCS. That's all we would need should the sox not make it. The "I told you so" talk about us not being able to win a championship without Ramirez.

And who really wants to hear that shit?

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:52 PM

:::headdesk:::

Jenny, where can I get some of that apple dumpling ice cream? I think I need some right now.

[ EricaC ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:53 PM

why are they just pulling delcarmen now, is my question to Tito.... should've been done BEFORE he walked in another run

[ Liza ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:53 PM

I admit, if the Rays make it, I'll be rooting for them as a team and for their actual fans. Not for the broadcasters who constantly kiss their asses or the bandwagon fans who suddenly hate the Red Sox.

Also, this fucking SUCKS.

[ Cathy ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:53 PM

I like to think of this as the Sox just making sure we, as fans, don't get too cocky about the team. They just want us to keep in mind that winning isn't guaranteed. After this scare, they'll sack up and take the series.

[ jenny again ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:55 PM

ecl - Turkey Hill makes it, it's a special fall flavor. Delicious. Not sure I feel better, though. Listening to Joe C is helping, though.

[ Bethie ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:55 PM

Well ladies and gents, I am tired and cranky and not yet re-cooperated from my vacation, so I am going to bed early.

I hope I wake up to at least a few more so runs in the AM.

See you guys on Thursday night!

GO SOX!

[ Karen ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:55 PM

This is so painful.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:55 PM

NOOOOO....

[ jenny again ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:56 PM

Cathy - I like the way you think.

[ jenny again ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:57 PM

LET ME OFF THIS MERRY-GO-ROUND.

[ EricaC ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:57 PM

I love this team, and have defended them to many. If we don't win, it's not the end of the world and I can handle the tormenting from my friends.... but does it have to be done like this?

[ Mac ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:58 PM

FUCK THIS SHIT.

[ tia ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:59 PM

i second that one mac

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:59 PM

Liza, I don't think I could root for the Rays if they advance. This is just too painful.

Poor Bethie had too much fun on her vacation.

Jenny, the Joe C option sounds nice. I'm too tired to search for an audiostream. Never heard of Turkey Hill Ice Cream. Guess I'll head for my Edy's or Blue Bunny stuff...

[ Erin ] says:
on October 14, 2008 9:59 PM

This game blows

[ Cathy ] says:
on October 14, 2008 10:00 PM

I really can't find myself being too upset about this, because of all the recent winning. With that being said FUCK THE MOTHERFUCKING RAYS AND ALL THEIR FUCKING FANS AND FUCK CHIP AND BUCK, YOU FUCKING MORONS!

[ Ellen ] says:
on October 14, 2008 10:00 PM

I'm so tired of the verbal fellatio of the Rays by the TBS announcers. It's disgusting.

[ Twinkie ] says:
on October 14, 2008 10:00 PM

If we don't come back in this series I will either be rooting for the Phillies or a fire.

[ Karen ] says:
on October 14, 2008 10:00 PM

I'm thinking B&J soon.

[ Kristin ] says:
on October 14, 2008 10:01 PM

I can't watch this anymore....and I really can't listen to this idiots anymore

[ Liza ] says:
on October 14, 2008 10:02 PM

I admit that I do like the Rays team, for a point; they're a great story. I hate the constant attention and praise showered on them.

Also, FUCK.

[ Mac ] says:
on October 14, 2008 10:02 PM

Right now, I really hope that the Phillies win tomorrow. As a Sox/Giants fan, I don't think I can take a Dodgers/Rays WS.

[ jenny again ] says:
on October 14, 2008 10:02 PM

I'm thinking the Rays will have nice gift baskets waiting for the TBS guys regardless of how this all turns out. "Thanks for all the love, guys!"

[ Kristin ] says:
on October 14, 2008 10:04 PM

apparently our team can only sac up when their backs are against the wall.....can we just get some runs...just a few...if only to shut these guys up for a short while

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on October 14, 2008 10:04 PM

I wouldn't have any problem rooting for the Phillies if it came to that. None at all.

[ Erin ] says:
on October 14, 2008 10:06 PM

I think that if it were a Phillies/ Rays no one would give a crap.

[ Twinkie ] says:
on October 14, 2008 10:06 PM

I just want to write a note to TBS asking how Maddon's ass tastes. I know it's childish, but listening to their bullshit I don't care.

Also: does Joe Maddon remind anyone else of, like, a high school guidance counsellor who thinks he's "hip" and "down with the kids" but just comes off as an obnoxious douche? Because I've been thinking that for a long time now.

[ Karen ] says:
on October 14, 2008 10:08 PM

Please make them shut up

[ Ian ] says:
on October 14, 2008 10:08 PM

ecl, IF the Rays beat the Red Sox you have to root for them since they are the AL team.

[ tia ] says:
on October 14, 2008 10:09 PM

i would rather stab myself in the eye with a fork before i ever rooted for the rays

[ lone1c ] says:
on October 14, 2008 10:10 PM

Wonderful night, huh?

I've had it. I will NOT listen to these TBS announcers. They will NOT shut up about Tampa Bay--unless it's to remind us that we're without Lowell and Ramirez.

I just hope Fox enjoys having the worst World Series ratings in years if they get Phillies versus Rays.

[ Cathy ] says:
on October 14, 2008 10:11 PM

He so does, Twinkie! I think that I'd punch him in the face if I had to spent any amount out time with him.

[ Erin ] says:
on October 14, 2008 10:12 PM

Ian- By that logic then I should root for the Yankees.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on October 14, 2008 10:14 PM

Mmmm, Ian, I don't know. Maybe I'm just weird, but I could temporarily root for a team because they're opposing the guys who walloped my team.

[ Twinkie ] says:
on October 14, 2008 10:14 PM

I've never been into the whole "stay in the league" thing. In 2001 I rooted for Arizona. In 2001 I had no idea Arizona HAD a baseball team. If I don't like a team I'm not going to root for them, plain and simple.

[ Ian ] says:
on October 14, 2008 10:14 PM

I have no problem rooting for the Rays in the world series IF they get there. I can also honestly say that I probably wouldn't watch a lick of the world series either though.

The solution to not listening to the announcers is just hitting your mute button, throwing on some relaxing music and praying for a miracle.

Remember we did come back last year from a 3-1 deficit against the Indians two best pitchers so never say never.

[ Twinkie ] says:
on October 14, 2008 10:16 PM

Oh, I still think we have a chance. I'll always think we have a chance. And I really hope we do come back.

[ Mac ] says:
on October 14, 2008 10:17 PM

PAPI!!!

[ tia ] says:
on October 14, 2008 10:18 PM

holy shit he can run

[ Twinkie ] says:
on October 14, 2008 10:18 PM

PAPI!!!!

[ lone1c ] says:
on October 14, 2008 10:18 PM

Ian: If the Rays were to get to a World Series by any means other than beating the Sox, I'd be fine with rooting for them. But not then. It doesn't matter that they're in my league.

And like you, I won't tune in to watch the WS if the Sox aren't in it.

[ ecl1958 ] says:

Ian, I'm trying to put the "come back from 3-1" positive spin on it as best I can.

And Erin, don't know if you realize that I found myself in Red Sox Nation because last year, after my former team (NYY) got bounced by Cleveland, I rooted for the Sox in the ALCS out of spite...and look what happened...

And Papi finally woke up!

[ Kristin ] says:
on October 14, 2008 10:19 PM

lets not waste a Papi triple....lets at least get some of our dignity back

[ Karen ] says:
on October 14, 2008 10:19 PM

Yeah!

[ Mac ] says:
on October 14, 2008 10:20 PM

Bay!

[ Kristin ] says:
on October 14, 2008 10:20 PM

now we start hitting the ball....

[ Ian ] says:
on October 14, 2008 10:21 PM

come on boys, 9 more to go to tie the game, you can do it.

[ Erin ] says:
on October 14, 2008 10:22 PM

Yay Papi!

ecl- I seem to remember you being a Yankees fan. Interesting way to become a Sox fan.

[ Kristin ] says:
on October 14, 2008 10:22 PM

they're love for BJ is really sickening

[ Mary ] says:
on October 14, 2008 10:22 PM

Hello all.
I've been in our lobby playing pool and watching the game.
It's been so sad to see everyone come in and look at the game and their faces just DROP.
Except my friend who's a Yankees fan and thinks this is all quite nice.

[ Mac ] says:
on October 14, 2008 10:22 PM

I know I'm being repetitious now, but...SHUT THE FUCK UP ABOUT BJ UPTON.

[ Ian ] says:
on October 14, 2008 10:23 PM

can we put a sniper on the roof just to knock Upton's legs out while he's running like a gazelle out there tracking down those fly balls.

[ Ian ] says:
on October 14, 2008 10:23 PM

maybe their hoping for BJ's from BJ

[ Twinkie ] says:
on October 14, 2008 10:23 PM

BJ is the Upton brother I don't like. Good to know TBS loves him!

[ Twinkie ] says:
on October 14, 2008 10:26 PM

Come on, Cashie! Do it again!

[ Erin ] says:
on October 14, 2008 10:26 PM

They love all the Rays

[ Lulu ] says:
on October 14, 2008 10:27 PM

Ugh. Even during the Dodgers/phillies game last night, FOX was going on and on about how great Tampa Bay is.

[ jules ] says:
on October 14, 2008 10:27 PM

I've never been into the whole "stay in the league" thing.

Me, neither. If the Rays make it, I'm *not* cheering for the Rays. If the Phillies are the NL team, I'll watch and cheer for them. If the series is Rays/Dodgers, I'm not watching--hate both teams.

[ Twinkie ] says:
on October 14, 2008 10:28 PM

DAMN! He's still done more tonight than almost anyone else on this team, and I don't feel quite as bad obsessing now.

[ Mary ] says:
on October 14, 2008 10:29 PM

I'm not rooting for the Rays either. I just can't. It's a personal thing AND a family thing for me.
My family in Florida was half accepting of me in my Sox shirts this June and half "You're lucky I'm letting you in this house with that shirt on".
I can't give them that satisfaction.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on October 14, 2008 10:31 PM

Erin, I was pretty amazed at myself when it happened (jumping the fence). But it's been a full year now and my interest hasn't flagged one bit. Quite the opposite, actually!

Ian...the logical solution for Upton in the outfield is a visit from Coco.

[ Twinkie ] says:
on October 14, 2008 10:31 PM

Ugh, Timlin? Good night everyone!

[ Mary ] says:
on October 14, 2008 10:31 PM

*rubs eyes*
....Timlin?
Uh oh.

[ Karen ] says:
on October 14, 2008 10:31 PM

What we are not losing enough? We need Timlin to make it worse. I was there Saturday night, it was torture.

[ Liza ] says:
on October 14, 2008 10:32 PM

It would be awesome if Coco slugged Upton on their way past each other running in/out from center field.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on October 14, 2008 10:33 PM

:::giggles at Liza:::

[ Mac ] says:
on October 14, 2008 10:33 PM

Liza - LOL.

[ Karen ] says:
on October 14, 2008 10:36 PM

::moaning::

[ Mac ] says:
on October 14, 2008 10:36 PM

FUCK.

[ Mary ] says:
on October 14, 2008 10:36 PM

Seriously you guys, this game is getting painful.

[ Erin ] says:
on October 14, 2008 10:37 PM

I'm sad.

[ Liza ] says:
on October 14, 2008 10:37 PM

I WOULD LIKE VERY MUCH TO KICK CARL CRAWFORD, BJ UPTON, BUCK MARTINEZ, AND CHIP CARAY IN THE BALLS.

[ Ian ] says:
on October 14, 2008 10:37 PM

Mary it was painful in the first inning. This is like pouring salt on the wound.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on October 14, 2008 10:37 PM

I'm sad too.

[ Karen ] says:
on October 14, 2008 10:38 PM

Would Timlin like to retire? Now.

[ Mary ] says:
on October 14, 2008 10:38 PM

I have never been one to want to turn off a game before the end before.
However, now, I'm starting to consider it...

[ Kim ] says:
on October 14, 2008 10:39 PM

I'm actually only flipping over to the game now (and I never do this...) I can't believe how sad I am.

[ LifelongSoxFan ] says:
on October 14, 2008 10:40 PM

I hear Fenway booing....and rightfully so...

[ Erin ] says:
on October 14, 2008 10:41 PM

Come on bats do something here.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on October 14, 2008 10:41 PM

I figure by the time I eat my ice cream and do my bedtime routine, this painful ordeal will be over. I'm so drained from it that I'll probably be asleep in two minutes.

[ jennie ] says:
on October 14, 2008 10:41 PM

tuning in very late on a battery depleted iPhone to express my hatred for tonight's (and yesterdays) game.

And I hate the new stop and shop logo too. What does it even mean????

[ Erin ] says:
on October 14, 2008 10:42 PM

I hate it to jennie.

[ Mary ] says:
on October 14, 2008 10:42 PM

Hello Jeddy, nice to see that you're FINALLY getting a hit....

[ lone1c ] says:
on October 14, 2008 10:43 PM

Unbelievable--a great hit by Lowrie, and they STILL can't stop talking about the farkin' Rays.

Pathetic.

[ LifelongSoxFan ] says:
on October 14, 2008 10:44 PM

Chip Caray's voice is now resembling the cow bells in my head. Make it stop!!

[ Kristin ] says:
on October 14, 2008 10:44 PM

and can they stop calling him "big game James"....yes, he pitched a good game....but he lost remember

[ Liza ] says:
on October 14, 2008 10:45 PM

Can we not get an eighth inning scouting report/massive lovefest of Sonnanstine?

Thank you Upton!

[ Kim ] says:
on October 14, 2008 10:45 PM

Good god. Big Game James. If I hear that again I'll scream.

[ lone1c ] says:
on October 14, 2008 10:45 PM

Thank you, Jed and Pleats, for not giving up.

[ Mary ] says:
on October 14, 2008 10:45 PM

AHH I almost put the TV on Chris Rock... but I knew I had to see my li'l Pleats.
I love him.

[ Mac ] says:
on October 14, 2008 10:45 PM

Hahaha Upton! HA!

Pedie! Jed!

[ Krisitn ] says:
on October 14, 2008 10:45 PM

couldn't we have done this when it was 5-0...uh oh, BJ mad an oops

[ Liza ] says:
on October 14, 2008 10:49 PM

"Kevin Chase"?

You're shitting me, right?

[ Kristin ] says:
on October 14, 2008 10:49 PM

now his name is Kevin Chase

[ Liza ] says:
on October 14, 2008 10:50 PM

YOUUUK!

[ Karen ] says:
on October 14, 2008 10:50 PM

Yeah Youk!

[ Ian ] says:
on October 14, 2008 10:50 PM

The Tampa media started calling him Big Game James, just another thing these guys can't even do is come up with something original.

I'm out y'all. Going to start writing this painful recap.

And maybe this is a sign of things to come with the bats warming up a little bit.

[ Mac ] says:
on October 14, 2008 10:51 PM

Liza - I thought I was the only one who heard that. Geez, these announcers are pissing me off.

YOUK!

[ LifelongSoxFan ] says:
on October 14, 2008 10:51 PM

Youk!!!

[ Kristin ] says:
on October 14, 2008 10:51 PM

Thanks Youk.....if nothing else, this could be a good sign for game 5

[ LifelongSoxFan ] says:
on October 14, 2008 10:53 PM

I was just thinking how badly I'll need the morning coffee while reading all this tomorrow....**sigh**

[ Mary ] says:
on October 14, 2008 10:54 PM

Hay Bay Bay..... come on, we can do this...

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on October 14, 2008 10:57 PM

Liza, I heard them rename Cashie too. Good grief...

[ lone1c ] says:
on October 14, 2008 10:57 PM

LLSF: I've learned not to read the sports section the day after games like this--it's filled with too much anger and hate, and it does nothing to help me get through the day.

[ Kim ] says:
on October 14, 2008 10:58 PM

Hold the phones.. they didn't call him Big Game James.

[ lone1c ] says:
on October 14, 2008 11:00 PM

ecl: Are you talking about the bottom-of-the-barrel booth dwellers TBS has scrounged up for this series?

(And can somebody explained to me why nobody's thought of putting the play-by-play announcers of the two teams in the booth for these series? At least that way, you know you're going to have opposing views and hear about both teams, rather than this week-long blowjob of the Rays.)

[ Kim ] says:
on October 14, 2008 11:02 PM

And there you go... Big Game James Shields

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on October 14, 2008 11:03 PM

Lone, yes, that's who I'm talking about. It was a late comment to Liza...

[ Mac ] says:
on October 14, 2008 11:06 PM

Who is Casey PH for?

[ Ian ] says:
on October 14, 2008 11:06 PM

He is known as "Big Game" James around Tropicana Field. He has that quality you look for in moments like these. Just look at his face.

"I know it, you know it, the fans know it, the other team knows it - you see it in their eyes. If you see scared eyes, you know he doesn't want it," teammate Trever Miller said.

"He wants the ball in the big games. Some guys are afraid of the big moments - I like to call them the rocking-chair moments - but he loves it. He wants to be able to sit down when he's a grandfather and tell all the grandkids how he pitched Game 1 and won, or Game 7 - beat the best team that year."

Someone please tell TBS about this.

I second that.

JOCO MOJO HERO TIME.

[ LifelongSoxFan ] says:
on October 14, 2008 11:11 PM

aahh...how nice to see Jacoby trotting down the baseline.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on October 14, 2008 11:11 PM

A little Jacoco is a good start...

[ Karen ] says:
on October 14, 2008 11:15 PM

Ugh. Well that was painful.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on October 14, 2008 11:15 PM

:::sigh:::

[ Mac ] says:
on October 14, 2008 11:15 PM

That game was fucking horrible.

[ ecl1958 ] says:
on October 14, 2008 11:15 PM

See you guys Thursday.

[ lone1c ] says:
on October 14, 2008 11:16 PM

Oh well.

Won't be able to catch much of Game 5--hope to "see" you all on Saturday. (Right now, all I want is to get the series back to the craphole that is the Trop. After that, let the chips fall where they may.)

[ Liza ] says:
on October 14, 2008 11:17 PM

At least Ells got rid of that nasty 0.000 OBP.

[ LifelongSoxFan ] says:
on October 14, 2008 11:17 PM

...to be continued. Well, hopefully not in THIS fashion.

[ Liza ] says:
on October 14, 2008 11:17 PM

Oh, and Papi put a ball in the air--he pulled it, but it was definitely past the infield.
