I was watching Papelbon's weekly show on comcast online earlier, and he was saying that every time the angels score, the rocks out in the field shoot water up, and the sox bullpen gets wet. Never noticed that. I wonder if that is done on purpose.

If you go to tbs sports page they have a hot corner app you can run, it's just like game day and gives you 4 different views of the game.

Sometimes you are lucky enough to get a dugout view, but it's about 2 pitches behind the TV broadcast.

E3, I usually peek at these threads when I come home after I've been to a game. It's fun to see how everyone here reacted after the fact.

Whoever decided to hand out noise makers to fans at baseball games need to be shot. Rays have the cowbells and now the Angles have thundersticks. I love how Fenway does it old school and the crowd knows when and how to cheer.

Oh and I'll throw in rally towels with this little rant. I don't understand how waving towels around is supposed to motivate your team. I thought that the waving of a white flag stands for surrender, right?

No offense, Liza, and I don't think this is sour grapes, but that fits with my impression that that "rally" was a staged-for-TV-event. There were, what, 3 sections of the satnds filled with people? And the camera angles were very carefully set to make it look packed.

It annoyed me so much to see towels at the Bruins playoff games this year.

When I went to Yankee Stadium this summer I was shocked to see the electronic board flash messages like "Make some noise!" or animated clapping hands. Please do not tell me that Fenway also uses this technique to encourage the crowd.

Oh, it totally was. I was just dying to go to Fenway one more time (because the chances of me getting playoff tix = nada) before the offseason. Plus, as you say, being near the players is fun (not that they did anything other than talk to the NESN guys and get on buses... but anyway).

I was about to say fc, I'd be surprised if anyone in Mass was sleeping.

That included me. Sadly. I feel asleep on the couch in the fifth. -shoods self- I haven't fallen asleep during a game (with the exception of the ASG) since... well since they played that one exhibition game at like 12 PM EST. Oh well.
