The Truth About Body Building

One of the most common myths about body building is that “more is better.” When you see people in the gym, you will notice that they are there for hours and doing the same exercises. These people think that they need to kill themselves to see the results that they want. Though there is some truth to this, there are certain principles that you need to understand.

3 Days A Week Is Good Enough

When you are trying to build muscle, you need to give your body enough time to rest. Though 5 days a week of lifting weight might seem like “not enough,” it is often too much. If you are just starting out, less is usually going to be more.

Less Reps More Sets

The days of 3 sets of 15 are now gone when it comes to building muscle and body building. Aim for about 5 sets of 5 reps and this should be enough to help you start lifting heavy without tiring your body out.

Progression Is The Key

The absolute key to body building is progression and how you are able to push your body to do more than your previous workout. Adding a little weight after each workout is a great way to make sure that you are pushing your body to the limit and slowly progressing.

Sleep And Rest

One of the biggest reasons why some people don’t see results is because they are not getting enough sleep. Aim to get at least 10 hours of sleep every night to ensure that your body will be ready for your next workout. 15 minute naps throughout the day will also help you to feel energized and not feel sluggish.

For your body building journey to be successful, you need to understand that there really is no end. Being healthy and gaining muscle should be a life change and not something that you do for a few months and then revert back to your old lifestyle. If you can implement these changes into your lifestyle with a solid body building diet, you will definitely be happy with the results. Alex Placek is a great personal weight trainer.
